I just moved to Chicago a month ago, and my roommates and I walked our dog around the neighborhood and found the Grill and Garden. We stood outside with our dog and looked at the menu inside trying to decide what to get. An extremely friendly man walked up to us and started up a conversation, and it turned out he was the owner of the restaurant. He encouraged us all to try the kabob, and none of us regretted it. I had a mix of all their kabobs (ground beef, chicken, and I think a lamb type) with pita and hummus, rice, and a tabouli salad. The presentation is exceptional, and the food tastes even more delicious. I can't speak highly enough about the owner, who was so kind and generous. We've since returned several times and received similar service and quality.

First the details. It's in the middle of a strip mall so parking should be easy. I didn't see any ramps so you might have to go up the curb if you have a wheelchair/walker/cane from the parking lot. It's a small place but you can eat inside. I wouldn't go in with a group more than 4 people though. They deliver so if what I just said deters you, there you go. Treat this place like any other fast food/grill place and you will be impressed. The service counter person was nice. They have a rewards programs so if you frequent their establishment, you get to save a bit. The food is as good as any other grill place. We had the Gyro and the Polish. Both were phenomenal! It came with TONS of fries, which was great because they were good freshly cooked. All in all, I was impressed for a food stop where I wasn't expecting much.

I love a good burger, but I don't eat them too frequently because of the potential health issues of too much meat and too much fat. That being said it's an absolutely gorgeous day and I was headed to the lake to enjoy the weather. I was hungry so I looked on Yelp and found a $5 combo meal for a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink. Grill & Garden is locate in a strip mall a cross the street from Jewel at 5318 N Broadway. The double cheeseburger was surprisingly good. It wasn't a Leadbelly Easy Rider burger or a Boba Lechon Burger but it was a decent burger at a great price. The fries remind me of the fries from Al's beef and were pretty good. In addition they have a large menu of reasonably priced meals. Not to bad for a quick inexpensive meal. It beats the hell out of McDonalds or Burger King and more reasonably priced

The Grill & Garden Restaurant is located in a small strip mall off the corner of Broadway and Berwyn in Edgewater. And, upon entering you will find a counter alongside the window with stools and some tables for seating. You walk up to the counter and place your order, once you decide what you would like to order because Grill &Garden has a great menu with so many options! Now, the majority of the menu is devoted to sandwiches, such as burgers, Italian beefs and sausage, gyros, and Chicago style hot dogs. And, if you are inclined to feast upon Bunny food they have a salad bar where they will build you a salad such as a small salad with 4 toppings for $3.99 or a large salad with6 toppings for $5.99! Something for everyone! Grill & Garden was booming today, a current flow of customers continuously coming through the door. This place is popular folks, with good reason! And, when you check in on Yelp you will get a free Gyros Sandwich with the purchase of a Gyros Combo Meal, so worth it! The Gyros was delicious and tender, perfect! And, to Michael who took such great care of me today and I believe who is the force behind Grill & Garden, I loved meeting you and I loved everything about your place! I can't wait to come back! So, if in the Edgewater Area, do yourself a favor and go visit the Grill& Garden Restaurant! Great Food with a Great Staff of People! You've gone and gotten yourself another 5 star review Grill & Garden, And, you've most definitely earned it......

Warm service and fresh food - basically all I need from a restaurant. They just started running kebabs, which I highly recommend (especially Lula, a seasoned ground beef). Very reasonable prices considering the portions. I'm glad to live within walking distance!

Delicious food and great customer service! Grill and Garden offers a wide variety of food options. With their new and improved menu and higher quality of food, you will always want to come back for more! I know I will :-) The staff is very friendly and makes sure your food is prepared to your liking. Definitely one of my new go-to places to grab a bite to eat!

What's good: burgers and the fajita chicken wrap. This is an excellent addition to my takeout rotation! Where was this place when I was broke all the time? Low prices, delicious food and friendly service. Parking available in a small lot or it's just across the street from the Berwyn Red-Line. I first ordered from Grub Hub and wasn't clear about which toppings I wanted on the fajita chicken wrap (my bad) so they called right away to confirm my order which was greatly appreciated. A few days later I walked over to check out the seating situation and was pleasantly surprised! It's a small joint but definitely comfortable for a couple or group of 4-5 to sit and eat.

Lived in the neighborhood for the past 10 years. I've been meaning to try this place out . Lets just say the steak and cheese is awesome ! I'm a tough customer , but I loved it !

I cannot believe the good food that comes out of this little place! Complete surprise. If they put real silverware and tablecloths on the table, and still served the same food you would pay twice as much. It is that good! My husband and I have been at least one day every week for a month. We have tried different items from a chicken parm sandwich to a BLT and everything in between - it has been delicious! Economical is an understatement. Hefty portions of good hot food. Last time we were in they were whipping up chili and asked the clients to give it a try for free, we ended up taking an order home for lunch - awesome! Fresh baked cinnamon cookies too! Free parking, or right across from the Bryn Mawr Red line, this place is worth a try. You will be back guaranteed. FYI the portions are large, they have fresh salad and wrap options - along with classic Chicago favorites like Hot Dogs, Burger and Wings. We love the staff they are kind and seem to enjoy their job. Thank's local Yelper's for recommending this little gem- this is how we found it.

First eating a gyro burger and frankly it was just amazing. The place looks clean and the service was fast. I order the gyro burger and some cheese fries and I have to say cheese fries haven't tested this good in a while .. and the burger was just the best

OLD REVIEW PRIOR TO RECENT CHANGES TO MENU AND AMBIANCE: Cheap and good. Service takes a bit but is friendly. I've tried everything on the combo menu. My favorites are the reuben, gyro, and breaded skirt steak. It's a great value. A combo without tip will run you about $8. EDIT (8/31/15): This place just changed everything I loved about it. They removed the Reuben (one of the best in the area imo), chicken vesuvio, breaded skirt steak, and the Chicago dog combo from their menu. That's pretty much all the stuff I used to order. They also whitewashed the cool street art off the wall and add some lame art print prints in its place. I used to tell everyone I knew to eat here rather than Subway or Chipotle and ate here myself a couple of days a week, but I won't be coming back. I'm sure they had good reasons for these decisions but they lost a loyal customer. The junk that's left on the menu is still relatively cheap and the service is as friendly as ever though.

The burgers and sanwiches are a little above average, its fairly clean and the staff is friendly. Bot a destination eatery but a good strip mall grill place. I don't like how they do their fries however, inconsistent, too greasy and under cooked.

I visited Grill and Garden for the first time last week. It seemed pretty busy as several people were dining in and there was also a bit of a line. I didn't mind waiting since it wasn't that long of a wait. Nonetheless, the cashier was sweet and apologetic. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and chili cheese fries. The food was delicious and fresh. Portions were much larger than I expected...I struggled to finish the sandwich and the fries were barely touched. I have no problem with leftovers! Service is friendly and quick, the owner is a really nice guy, the food is great, and so are the portions...I think you can say that I'll be coming back!

Grill and Garden is now on speed-dial (meaning, the place is great - ordering through yelp mobile site - not the app as that sucks - is too easy to call). The simple menu, good prices, quick delivery, and great tasting food makes this a no-brainer. They have something for everyone to enjoy. Chicken pita, fries, make-your-own salad were ordered and we'd do it again.

I have been here a few times now and it's always remarkable. The service from the minute you walk in is great, the food is relatively priced low, and everything is fresh. It says a lot when you can tell the fries are actually fresh cut...and never frozen. I know this space has gone through a lot of businesses in the last few years, most of which I've at least given a shot too, but I really hope this one makes it!

A great lil neighborhood spot. My two favorites are the Philly Chicken and their newest addition "The Boss" OMG..something about adding gyro meat to a chicken sandwich makes it all come together. Everything is cooked to order fresh..so nothing is pre made waiting to be sold. Clean, inviting atmosphere with two of the nicest guys around running things in Edgar and Mike. Uptown is glad to have this local gem. GRUBHUB, POSTMATES, EAT 24 all accept orders from here..big plus. and very reasonable on the wallet.

We recently visited and had a rather large order. The ingredients looked very fresh and the owners were super friendly. The food was really, really tasty. We had a rueben, gyro, hamburger, and real potato fries. We also ordered two salads that were made with fresh ingredients. I recommend this new restaurant and plan to return soon.

Absolutely loved this place! I was not only impressed with the great taste but also the great quality of the food. The Gyro plate is my favorite among many other options on the menu. Overall, they have great customer service, great prices and more importantly great quality of the food!!!

What's NOT to love about this place??? Brand new to the neighborhood, clean and modern, yet evokes the feelings of the traditional Chicago-style greasy spoon quite well. Go for the breaded steak sandwich, and by all means get the fries. They have a quirky salad bar setup for any interested parties, but not my thing all in all... I'm not a rabbit, but to each his own. Chicken wings are amazing as well... crispy, meaty and full of flavor. Guys behind the counter are efficient and place alot of emphasis on quality.

I stopped in here about a month ago to grab a quick bite. I was greeted immediately and the staff was friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. When I got it home I was very excited because I was a huge fan of the previous restaurant that was located in this spot (Yanni's) I have to say I was pretty underwhelmed. The burger just tasted like a frozen burger patty you'd by at jewel and the fries were just so so. I was definitely hoping for more from this place as its close to my apartment and there aren't that many quick walk up places in the area. I will go back and give it another shot by trying something else on the menu but I definitely will not be frequenting it as much as I did the previous restaurant. Another thing I noticed was that the salad bar looked like it had been sitting there all day. The lettuce was brown and everything just looked dry.

Gave me food poisoning, was sick all day. The fries were flabby, but I like mine like that. The strawberry tasted terrible, was way too strong and fake tasting. I think it was my undercooked burger that got me sick. I asked for it to be cooked medium but there was a ton of red. Would not recommend.

To be clear, I'm giving two stars based on ONE item - the breaded steak sandwich. The rest of the menu could be delicious, but I'm not going back because I was only interested in one thing. I saw some good reviews, one in particular caught my eye as one reviewer so boldly claimed that the breaded steak sandwich would "give Ricobene's a run for their money". I'm no Rico fan, but that statement couldn't be any further from the truth. The bread, average, no complaints there. The sandwich was small considering it cost me seven bucks. It's normally six, but they charged extra for mozzarella, which wasn't properly melted. They literally sprinkled some on top and wrapped it up. Terrible. The sauce was nothing special, and even though I asked for extra, I still needed to add some when I got home. I mean, this thing was bad. On the plus side, the guy running the place at the time was real cool, so no complaints on service.

Just happened to see that this place opened up right when I was planning on buying groceries for dinner from Jewel.. How convenient! Go. There. Now!!! They have a breaded Italian steak sandwich that could give Ricobenes *gasp* a run for its money! Fries were of the delicious hand cut variety. This place may be my downfall... Guys behind the counter were super cool too.

I have lived in the neighborhood for ten years and seen this place be several restaurants and even had food poisoning from this place when it was AJs. So as you can guess, I wasn't lining up to try the next greasy spoon. My husband was though. I came home to find left over breaded steak sandwich and fries in the fridge and he heated me up a section of the sandwich and talked about how huge it was and what a good price. It was decent for reheated, enough that tonight when I was craving Italian beef and didn't want to go all the way to Portillos, I tried the Italian beef with hot peppers and onions rings. It was good and I would order it again. Peppers were spicy, sandwich was well flavored and onion rings were sweet and crispy. My husband ate a gyro and fries and enjoyed it very much. Of all the restaurants this place has been so far, this is my favorite. Hope they keep up the quality and service and stick around for awhile! FOLLOW UP - noticed they updated their menu 12/22/2014 and my husband got the breaded steak sandwich again and they have reduced the size to 6". I think it was 9" before for the same price.
