Your friend drops you off at the airport at 7am for a flight that isn't scheduled to leave until 2:03pm. Well, there are times when airport food must be purchased in spite of one's better judgement or suffer starvation. I'm already thin as it is, so order I did. Gold Coast Dogs to the rescue? The hamburger I ordered was a frozen patty which they tossed on the grill like a Frisbee. Thankfully the cook took my request to heart and that sucker turned out well-done. Under-cooked meat and a 5 hour plane flight, I think not. The burger and accommodating fries turned out to be okay, if nothing special. The fries did taste fresher than the burger, but both were palatable. For $9, there are much better options for fast food in the Chicagoland area if you can avoid eating in O'Hare. The food stayed down, which is more than can be said of a lot of airport fare. One star for convenience, one star for not giving me food poisoning and one star for filling my stomach.

Pretty good sandwiches and dogs for an airport. I tried the Italian beef dog combo, which is Italian roast beef combined with a Polish sausage in one bun, loads of food... it is in the international terminal food court.

Don't bother, dog was cold/lukewarm, and charred beyond belief. Server turned the crusty, 1/2 thick burnt section down so I could not see it. Did not have time to go back, plane was boarding. Tasted like I bit in to a charred stick. Service was good, price OK (for a good dog). How do I get a refund?

The bacon cheeseburger here is one of my favorites. The meat is very juicy, and usually coma inducing for the flight home. I love that they use a spreadable cheddar cheese, its delicious and melty/gooey. I wonder why anyone would go to the McDonalds a few stores down as this place is so far superior. Pizza puffs are tasty, and their fries are good too. I havent tried the dogs, but I'd rather not waste my time on something like that at the airport.

I ordered the Italian beef & sausage combo. The Good: The sausage and the pepper they added as topping was very good. The Bad: The Italian beef was tasteless. The Ugly: The bread was rock hard. All in all I was disappointed, I would not go back.

This place is in the airport and next to my terminal. I wanted one last Chicago style dog before I took off, so I popped into this store to grab a bite. I think it was fairly priced for airport food, and it was fast. Best of all, it was pretty flavorful and HOT! I love my food served piping hot!

We're at the airport and if you dont' like McDonalds, you'll probably end up here. Why? You get a whole bunch of choices. Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, philly cheesesteaks, gyros, hot dogs, etc. I wanted the Jumbo Char Dog but they told me they were out of Jumbo sized dogs. *sigh*. Come on now...! Let's do a little better with our forecasting, shall we? Instead, I got the gyro and the wife got a turkey burger. The gyro was pretty good. It comes with some onions and two tomatos and some tzatziki sauce. They really piled on the gyro meat which was on the verge of being too much. I would have appreciated some lettuce on it but it didn't ruin the experience. They wrap it up in aluminum foil which gets half of the tzatziki sauce on it, so you may want to have them put an extra ladle of it on yours. It's super messy because the pita is way too small. The wife's turkey burger was surprisingly good. Once she saw the guy cutting the meat off the gyro, she was regretting her choice of a turkey burger. I promised her that I'd give her half and she could give me half of hers. Well, once we got going, I offered her a couple bites and offered her the other half and she said, "I'm pretty happy with my turkey burger." So that was it.

Can get my combo beef and sausage fix here. Great gyros and Chicago dogs too. Only negative is that it's in L terminal

Our last opportunity for a Chicago style dog was here at O'Hare's. Conveniently located by our gate at L3 in Terminal 3. The dog was dressed the same way, but the dog itself was grilled. And $4.00 versus $2.50-$3.00 in Chicago proper. Edible and satisfying.

I was on a 2 hr lay over in ORD so I was craving some Italian Beef. I used to live in Chicago and would get it all the time. It's been a long 9 years since I had one. I walked the whole terminal looking for the beef. I finally found it. I gave them my local Chicago order. Italian Beef, sweet peppers, dipped. haha. You gotta have this thing dipped. They take the whole sandwich with tongs and dip the whole thing in the au jus. You bread is all soaked with the flavors. My first bite was difficult. How can I grab this thing without getting all wet. Who cares? I picked it up and shoved in my face. With one big bite I was in heaven again. This Italian beef does not have as much spices in there. Maybe it was made for the non local travelers. I didn't get the normal heartburn after 2 bites. hehe. It was worth it though. I'll be back soon. G

I often go to Ohare airport international terminal. Whenever I visit there, I had McDonalds, but today, my boyfriend and I tried an Italian beef at Gold Coast Dogs. It was quite tasty! better than what i expected. I am not going to have McDonalds again!

Not my favorite Chicago Hot Dog, but still pretty damn good. Probably the best place in O'Hare to get a hot dog that I am aware of. Gold Coast Dogs is arguably one of the most well known establishments in Chicago for getting a Chicago Hot Dog. The ingredients here are complete and excellent--Vienna beef hot dog, sliced tomato, pickle wedge, mustard, hot peppers, chopped onion, S. Rosen Poppyseed bun, and of course, the relish. In fact, when I think of Gold Coast Dogs, I think of their "nuclear" relish--it's colored to be a darker green than most of the other Chicago dogs' relish that I've seen. If you're passing through Chicago, this would be a suitable Chicago Hot Dog Experience, especially if you're not leaving the airport. For the "official" experience, just ask for "a hot dog with everything."

  • Tom Y.

When you are at the airport and this is what you can get for a jumbo dog this is it, don't be expecting something awesome like you would if you were in town. If you are flying through like I am and can't make it out than eat it and remind yourself to take a longer layover next time.

  • Frank G.

Two stars only because if you've got both a layover in O'Hare and a craving for a Chicago-style hot dog, this will do the trick -- but only just. Otherwise, it's one star. The hot dogs were pre-cooked and warmed up (slightly) on the grill. I guess people are in a hurry in airports, but it's not like they're cooking a steak. They were pretty meager with the sport peppers and relish, and didn't include tomatoes on either dog (I asked for them to be held on only one). The employees seemed to be interested more in goofing off with each other than they did in actually serving customers. I had to repeat my order three times, and still came out wrong. With three people "working" there, you think you could get an order for two hot dogs correct. I get that it's an airport and I shouldn't expect a white tablecloth experience... but c'mon, at least try a little harder.

  • Christopher L.

Really not bad at all for the price and considering it's in an airport. Had the Chicago Dog when we arrived and had the Italian Beef with Italian sausage when we departed. Probably one of the better Chicago Dogs I experienced in Chicago. I would suggest the Tucson dog at America's Dog in Terminal 1. The Italian beef is pretty good, but pales in comparison to Portillo's Italian Beef.

  • C P.

Ordered a double hamburger. They pulled the patties off a pile of already cooked burgers that had been sitting there. Then they reheat the crap out of them. Same for char dogs. Waste of money, awful burger.

After throwing out my Reggios pizza I thought I would try a Chicago hot dog. Man that sounded great, so I had a chili cheese dot. It was almost too aweful to eat. The chili was bland, the hot dog was just ok and the cheese was processed cheese spread from a can. What a joke. Can't believe that there isn't a good hot dog to be had at the Chicago airport. What a shame.

Who says you can't good Italian Beef at the airport? Found this place on yelp and tried it out, and I have to say it was so much better than I've had at the airport before. Got some juice on the side and dipped it, and with the spicy jardonaire, it was really really good. I can't say it's competing with some real restaurants on the street, but for airport food this was stellar!

Note: This review is for the Gold Coast Dogs in Concourse L, near Gate L8 A great deal considering you're trapped in the airport! The standard condiments are Chicago-style of course, but they'll pretty much do what you want (call me weird, but I like mine with mayo, onions, and maybe relish.) They make it only when you order. I've had both the char-dog and the bratwurst, and both were grilled, hot and tasty. Service is quick, though it may be a bit short on friendliness. Dog and a drink for well under $10 ain't bad. Seating wise, this is just a counter, so you'll have to sit in the gate area.... there are no real tables nearby. Or, just make everyone jealous on the plane.

I was flying via ORD, and had about an hour and half to kill. Foodie that I am, I decided to explore the food options at ORD. I bumped into this place, hiding my the terminal 'G', and t had a veggie burger listed on their menu. It was not the most moist burger patties, but it tasted pretty good with the the lettuce, tomatoes, onions and ketchup and mayo with a pickle on the side. They serve it in these cute hot dog containers. Obviously, as the name suggests, they are famous for hot dogs. So if you are a hot dog person, I would highly recommend trying it as it seemed like it was a super hit just from the sheer number of people at the stall asking for it. If you want to go vegetarian, I would highly recommend the veggie burger.

Starving for some food and in a hurry to catch my flight, I stopped by Gold Coast Dogs and got a turkey burger. For $5 it was pretty good! I think they just used a frozen patty, but at least grilled/heated the bread on the flat top and added tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. Not the speediest place, but I felt like they were more interesting and slightly healthier than the Mcdonalds next door that probably charges similar prices. I fly through this terminal a lot, so may try one of their veggie pizzas ($6ish for a personal size one that is pretty large), as I saw them putting them into the oven and they looked decent for airport food. Overall good value - would stop by again for a bite before my flight leaves.

Since I had had two hot dogs for lunch, it was only natural that I craved two more two hours later in Chicago. Since Gold Coast was on the way to my gate, I stopped in for a cheese dog and a sausage with the works. yelp.com/biz_photos/qVuy… The cheese dog was okay, but all the "okayness" ended there. The sausage was charred beyond recognition and tasted of meat flavored carbon. It was tough to get it down but I managed. I'll explore other dining options next time I fly through.

Never been to Chi-town, only vicariously through Food Network and The O'Hare airport. Can't wait to try a real Chicago dog one day, but the airport frank wasn't too bad. Check the pic.

Like rome....when in chicago...one must partake of the Chicago Dog and for my short lay over I had to have me one of those dogs. I feel like such a traitor these days....I love Texas BBQ more than NC....I love Chicago dogs more than NC.....oh the shame of it. *wink* Good to the last bite......then I was off!

One last chance for a Chicago dog. Picked up a regular size one for dinner on the plane. Cost $4+ which is typical for airport food, I guess. Somehow the older man (manager?) served me and was super slow and didn't ask what I wanted on the hot dog. Good thing I wanted everything and was not picky. Somehow the person behind me, who ordered the same thing, got her hot dog first and paid before I did. Also a good thing I wasn't in a hurry either. Anyways ate it a little while later on the plane and it was delicious. I love all the different toppings. So fresh - the tomatoes, relish, onions, pickles and the celery salt. And I could see that they had just taken the wiener off the grill when I ordered it. Really good - even though it was cold from waiting to get onto the plane. Not as good as say some of the other ones I tries but wow, decent.

Even though this is fast food it is great! This is as good as fast food gets. But do it right, I may not live in Chicago anymore but I grew up here so here is what you want. Get a standard Chicago dog. Skip the jumbo or brat, and get it with everything including hot peppers (man up will ya!) so tomatoe wedge, mustard, pickle wedge, onion, katsup, poppie seed bun and all. Or, get the Italian beef sandwich with both kids of peppers, this is a great sandwich. This place makes O'hare bearable. Nice little tables to sit at but no service, so get over it and just enjoy!

If there is ever a reason to have a layover when flying cross country, this place is it. Their delicious, Chicago-style hotdogs are really remarkable. Every time I am forced to have a layover at O'Hare, I will make a quick stop here -- even if it is out of the way and my connection is a short one. I just love the creativity and the taste of their hotdogs. The wiener is thick and long, and it is topped with diced sweet onion, mustard, cucumber slices, small hot peppers, relish, a tomato wedge, and a pickle. This is all housed in a substantial bun which holds up for the wear. I really love the juxtaposition of flavors. The heat from the peppers is nicely balanced by the coolness of the cucumbers. The pickle is refreshing, and the meat is engaging. At less than $5, it is the perfect snack. New York might have Chicago forever beat when it comes to pizza, but they could sure learn a lot about making a hotdog. Definitely check them out on your next layover to O'Hare!

Horrible. I was here to see my grandmother off to Poland, and decided to eat here cause I was starving. Worst mistake ever. I ordered a polish with cheese and mustard, and was given a rubbery, and tough Polish that was probably re-heated at least 10 times, slathered in a mixture cold and tasteless nacho cheese, and mustard. On top of it all, the guy at the register acted like an impatient douche bag, as if he had better things to do by talking with the rest of the lazy people they had working there. Avoid this place at all costs. Go to the Mickey D's right next to it. That says a lot.

  • Mike C.

It was a good hot dog for airport food. I had a layover in Chicago and I figured I'd get a Chicago Dog. Nothing wrong with it, it was an authentic Chicago style dog, the dog was good, but I prefer NY style hot dogs. I like the poppy seed bun on the Chicago dog and I like the pickle spear, but I like kraut on my hot dog. The kraut is the main reason I prefer the NY dog over the Chicago dog.

The entire staff acted as if I was inconveniencing them, but the Chicago dog was quite good for airport food.

  • Gerald L.

On a layover from Europe had a Chicago grilled dog at Gold Coast in the terminal near gate L1 - my first! Excellent Vienna beef dog with all the trimmings as the other reviewers suggested. The neon green relish, hot peppers, dill pickle and tomato made this hot dog a treat! A must try place!

Fast, good food for an airport.

  • Mira S.

It deserves maybe three stars in the real world, as its a basic hot dog place, but for airport value I'll throw on an extra star. There's a slight airport premium, but I can get a decent, tasty, Chicago-appropriate meal for less than anywhere else. That's not to say I don't wish I were flying American so I could hit up Frontera. The steamed dog was lacking in flavor, so I'd recommend the Char. The ingredients were complete and fresh. The staff was friendly and food was prepared to order, quickly. They have gyros and falafel and various fried things, n t I don't think I'd do that at the dog place at the airport--I'll stick to their speciality. The drinks, unlike the food, are pretty absurdly priced, matching the rest of the beverages in the airport because TSA ensures people will be willing to pay.

  • Van G.

While on a layover and chilling at L4; decided to try the local taste of the city, Italian beef Chicago Style. The grilled sausage wasn't spicy nor juicy but maybe it was meant to be a bit crunchy (which is okay), but what about moist. On to souvenirs

Terminal 3 Chicago Hot Dogs give me a reason to fly out of O'Hare! After having our flight delayed 2x, I got hungry! And since i spent a week in Chicago without having had a hot dog, i thought why not give it a shot before coming back to LA. Great decision!! These hot dogs are def over priced but it is the airport, so what are you going to do. They're fast though! And the food is delicious!! The hot dog bun did not fall apart, the pickle was crisp, the tomato's fresh, the relish and onions were perfect...and i don't even like any of those ingredients!! I devoured that Chicago dog! A week later and i am still craving it! Til next time!

  • Melissa P.

Looks are deceiving. Had to have another Chicago style hot dog before we left and this unfortunate place was our last stop. Terminal 3 let us down with this one. Hot dog looked amazing, the taste tho. No where near as amazing as the other dogs we've had in Chicago. The dog it self had a hard chewy feel to it. The bun was not at all toasty. Price was alright, cause these airports really hurt ya. Now for the people who work here, one word. Unprofessional. They are on their phones, they talk about not work friendly things, they laugh at customers which is SO RUDE, and they also make people feel dumb for not knowing where to order. 2 stars for price and convenience.

This review is only for the Italian beef sandwich and fries. I know airport food isn't the greatest, but I was very disappointed in the cheesy Italian beef sandwich. The bread was a cold and thick ciabatta roll, meat was not warm, there was no au jus, which is fine if the meat was warm, but it wasn't. The cheese was also cold. I basically got a lukewarm sliced beef sandwich. I ate one bite and tossed it. The fries were also very soggy. Should have just stuck with McDonald's. At least the fries would have been good.

  • Federico G.

They were really fast, have a variety of foods (hot dogs Chicago style, burgers, sandwiches, basic pizzas) plus a little grab-n-go fridge in case you really can't wait to get your food. They don't have tables to sit, so you'll have to find a spot by your gate or at a different restaurant.

Ok so I have had a Chicago style dog in Philly at a beer shop I would frequent, seeing I can find any craft beer out there. Pretty much you can enjoy a craft along with a dog or what have you, seeing they have a menu with an array of options and Chi-dog was one of them. I must say I really didn't think too much of it. Now lets us fast forward to present day shall we. I just recently had a Chicago dog in Chicago, yes I know it was in the airport , but my layover was only a hour. I figured well when in Rome.. or we'll say Chicago I had to go with the one of their well known bad boys. This by far was simply awesome, a complete 180 from the version I had. Personally I prefer dogs to be grilled and these guys did just that. The difference what I had prior was boiled in water to this being grilled words can not be expressed. The simple fact I was I was making sounds with "nom nom oh my god nom nom" with little moans that shouldn't be mentioned on here. That poppy bun, that grilled dog, with all the add-ons imaginable, this basically covered all the food groups. Now being I am not a local, you can label me tourist all you want, because I would do the same to you if the shoes were on the other foot. I was more of a stop and go types of foodie, who was looking to refuel this machine. If this little airport set up got me hooked, I could only imagine what it is like in the city of Chicago.

Hungry before my flight home to California, I rushed to Gold Coast Dogs in hopes that one last Chicago Style Hot Dog would pleasantly conclude my wonderful and gluttonous Chicago Adventure. What a mistake. At $4.95, it's one of the more affordable meals in Chicago, but the Hot Dog was charred, messily prepared, looked aged, and had a disturbing taste of rubber that I couldn't bear to finish. The tomato had a faint smell of fish too and many of my followers know how disgusted I am by that. What a terrible way to end my trip. Luckily, I also ordered the jumbo chili dog ($5.89) which was large in size and A-OK overall. While it didn't look pleasing to the eye, the chili had slight heat and good taste. I did finish the whole thing, although I wonder if I did that just to get rid of the nasty memory of the Chicago Hot Dog before it. ---- Conclusion: If rushing to eat something before your flight, I'd likely suggest to eat somewhere else as Gold Coast was no where near golden in any aspect. Extra Notes: -Accepts credit card -Servers could be more friendly and enthusiastic -I question the cleanliness of the food area -No restrooms

Recently had an opportunity to that this joint on my way to Atlanta and was left full but not impressed. I ordered a Jumbo Char Chicago Style that was dragged thru the garden. They used the standard Vienna dog, bun, Vienna mustard, Vienna relish and peppers. The Dog was warm but not hot, bun was lightly toasted and the veggies were room temp rather than cool. Staff was working quickly as there was a line, but my item was chucked into its bag upside down and was given to another customer whom I had to retrieve it from three stalls down. I'll try them again and try their Italian beef to see if maybe second time is a charm with this group.

What a terrible experience. First off, right as you walk in, there is no direction as to where you should go to order what. There are two cashiers so I waited in the big line. Turns out, breakfast is ordered at a different cashier than lunch. So I wasted all this time waiting just to have to order elsewhere. So I order a meal and ask for an iced coffee. The cashier goes "our iced coffee machine is broken" and offered me hot, which was no problem. Then I literally asked for ice, and coffee and she scoffed. Gave me a couple cubes of ice and was like "there is your iced coffee". Normally I wouldn't care but the way she went about it was all wrong. So I go to get some creamer and sugar on the opposite side. Out of creamer and out of a sugar alternative. So I asked if they could refill the creamer and if I could get some sweetener. Cut to 5 minutes later and no one has moved. Just a bad experience all around. And the bagel I got was awful too. Reheated egg and sausage, which sucked because I saw the guy making fresh eggs for the "lunch side" of the line. Don't waste your time. Go to the McDonald's next door. The line was long but I saw it move quickly.

Ate here right before my flight and was pleased with the Charred Chicago Dog. I was craving one the entire trip, but did not have the chance. This location is pretty busy and also sells Uno's personal deep dish pizzas. I tried the veggie pizza later and it was good too. Before I ordered on this day, one of the customers had a rude confrontation with an employee about waiting too long for their food. My order was taken by this very employee and he was actually very nice and had my order ready in minutes, so I think the previous customer was being irrational. Going to grab a bite here next time I'm flying through ORD.

  • Ben G.

Not only was it fast, but the food was great (a char dog and a gyro plus fries) and it was a couple dollars cheaper than other places. Good stuff!

    (4)
  • Tim K.

The pizzas are pre-made, and then warmed up upon ordering, which just makes for a lousy pizza. The Chicago Dog was the highlight of our dining experience. It was loaded well, and I felt the $4ish price was spot on. Some of the employees made comments to each other, but loud enough for everyone to hear, about customers ordering food while they were trying to close up shop. While waiting for my order several other customers had problems with their food (i.e. not getting their fries, toppings missing, etc).

    (2)
  • Kendall N.

Tried the Chicago Dog and Cheese Fries. It was nothing spectacular but it was very convenient while waiting to board our flight. I wouldn't make my way to go back here. It was cool they have the neon green relish, not use to seeing that in California.

  • Rohan D.

For overpriced airport food this isn't bad, you could do worse in O'Hare. Service was inattentive, forced and impolite, but I've had worse at O'hare. On the negative side, almost anything you order here you're not going to be able to handle on your own with a carry on, coat, and briefcase or purse in tow, I worked it out by parking my Chief of Staff with the luggage at the departure gate and came here for two orders empty handed. It wasn't crowded or busy (I don't know how they would handle a rush at their pace, evolution moves faster) but when it is I would think you'd have an additional problem with carry on luggage as there's not much room to maneuver. They do serve up an authentic Chicago style hot dog, so that's a plus. Another plus is that they aren't even pretending to deserve tips, so you don't have to feel at all guilty about not leaving any.

  • Josh B.

I'm usually reluctant to get involved with airport food but Gold Coast was worth a visit. A colorful array of peppers, relish, etc., adorned a charred hot dog. For this out-of-towner's palate, it was close to the real thing.

    (4)
  • Michael G.

The staff here is inattentive, unprofessional, and barely capable of basic customer service. Food isn't ready for purchase and not provided in an adequate time post order. If 'no stars' were a possible yelp review I would have done so. Management is better off firing this entire crew working Sunday night. They are a drain on the payroll and a discredit to the brand.

Get the char dog if to like em a little crispy. So good! I was stopping through Chicago to catch a connecting flight and just as I turned my cellphone back on I received a text from my brother telling me I absolutely had to eat a Gold Coast Dog. Thinking that O'hare would be too big an airport to bother wandering around, I told myself that although all I wanted was a tasty Chicago dog, I'd settle for whatever was closest. And then, like gold in its very name, the sign shone bright and there it was! Gold Coast Dogs was literally directly across from the gate I had just exited and just a few gates from my next flight out. I practically walked right off the plane and into the hot dog line. It was meant to be! I ordered a char dog, a bottle of water, and less than 2 mins later I was stuffed and super happy about it. I caught my next flight and thought about how maybe I should have bought a second one for when I landed at home. I love Seattle dogs but there's not much out there better than a Chicago char dog from Gold Coast. The line moved pretty quickly, the sides were great, and the price was airport cheap. Not cheap, cheap - but decent for what you'd expect to pay at an airport.

I thought the charred Chicago dog was just fine. I really enjoyed it. Better than eating trash mcds. For quick bite before a flight or in between flights this is the perfect snack! I would definitely stop by again.

Interesting the rude comments, really very pleasant Chicago Style and all. Ordered up Italian beef, nickel seasoned with hot peppers and the perfect Italian roll, soft, but not too soft, soaked up juices nicely. Yep sure you can get better away from airport, but hit the spot and price was right. Too bad no beer.

Pros: Weirdly the only place to get a gyros in Terminal 3. Very strange since it's Chicago and those people love their gyros? Decent gyros. Cons: Employees are insanely rude and it took too long to prepare my meal. For goodness sake, the meat is already cooked! Rotating around on that thing. Just slice it off and throw it on a pita.

Stood in a long line only to find out that they were out of EVERYTHING on the menu except hot dogs. When I asked why they couldn't put a sign outside where the line starts, the employee rudely replied that he was too busy. Ridiculous.

Very mediocre food for a high price. Pretty stingy on condiments. The unusually short line compared to McDonalds and Starbucks should have been a sign. Just go and wait next door at McDs or Starbucks and get the best value for your dollar, even if the wait is a bit longer.

I rarely write Yelp reviews - chili was really cold and the bratwurst was horrific, like worst I've ever had. Please don't eat here, you'll end up throwing away your food.

Worst UNO pizza EVER! How many times has that been muttered? But seriously, have been to several UNOs in several different airports and this is the worst pizza ever - how the f is that possible even in Chicago? Only giving 2 stars because it looked like the hot dogs would have been half decent - otherwise AVOID THIS PIZZA AT ALL COSTS

Went in to order something for my buddy and I, said I wanted to take a pic of the menu to bring back to my friend to decide. We have been on a business trip for 4 days, and he was at the gate sitting and talking to his daughter on the phone. Chumps behind the counter suggest I drag him in. When I laugh and say he's too big, one if them says "like your wife ? Just kidding bro !" Not funny, told him that a few times and left. Definitely not giving this place any business. EVER.

Pretty good for a stand in an airport. Beats McFood, Subways, and KFC in the food court any day..

I had my first Chicago dog and wasn't a fan. I was willing to give it another try before we parted ways. The bf got one and an order of fries. Another bite and I'm still not convinced. There's just too much stuff going on. I'll just take a regular hot dog with good ol' ketchup and mustard.

Not bad for an airport. Dropped in to try the Chicago Style Char Dog. Store is clean. Employees were quick to take my order and the hot dog was ready in no time. It was wrapped up neatly. Total came to about $5.18. After I walked back to my terminal and opened up the packaging, I noticed that the sport peppers were missing. I walked back and asked for them. My hot dog was cold by now. An employee placed the peppers on the hot dog and that was all. No apology, nothing. It's a bummer to have to walk back and forth to remind them about a missing ingredient. The restaurant wasn't busy at all when I ordered and one would think they have their hot dog assembly down to a tee. Just make sure you open the wrapper and check for any missing ingredients before you step out. Other than that, the hot dog had a smoky flavor, which was tasty. The poppy seed bun was OK. Didn't have a whole lot of flavor or fluffiness. It did hold everything together though. The mustard, onions, bright green relish, dill pickle spear, sliced tomatoes, sport peppers (when provided), and celery salt came together very nicely. Just remember, no ketchup.

I will preface this by saying that I'm not a hotdog fan. With that said, I was told that I had to try a Chicago beef, and a Chicago dog so Off I went to check it out. I can't say I noticed anything spectacular, though I did notice that with more toppings, it hid the hotdog taste better. I would take this with a grain of salt as, again, I'm not a hotdog fan to begin with. Still, as the rating suggests, I feel like I've had better.

Considering this is the airport, the food was damn good. I had the Italian beef and fries combo. I ordered mine dipped with sweet and extra hot peppers and oh boy was it hot. I wish I hadn't ordered it dipped because I ended up spilling juice all over my self lol. The meat was good, as was the bread. The fries were my favorite part. They are exactly the kin of fries I like. I'm glad I went with Gold Coast and not crappy ass McDonalds.

They sell breakfast. Its actually kind of decent. But alas, it is in OHare in it is unnecessarily expensive. For an airport it is really good. Airport food starts at -2 stars and goes up so this place has a leg up on a lot of its neighbors. And at least its not McDonalds

This small hot dog shop in Terminal 3 serves a burger for purists: - great bun, - fire grilled meat - tasty and juicy cheddar The meat tasted great but it felt like it was precooked, so it wasn't as juicy as it should. But great burger

Damnit! I was hoping for the Frontera Tortas terminal. I guess flying Virgin does have its downsides. Being 2.5 hours early for my 4.5 hour flight and unsure if there'd be any vegetarian food offerings on my cross country flight, I decided to roll the dice and get my meal from GCD. The stupid screening machines were broken on the afternoon of my departure so being 2.5 hours early was a must. By the time I got to my gate I had little time left to explore my eatery options so I took a quick glance at the prepackaged wraps to my right and grabbed a water, a veggie hummus wrap that had been labeled as having been made that day, and a great big cookie to keep my blood sugar up... okay, I could care less about blood sugar- I got it because when I fly I allow myself cheat days on my diet and that cookie (and all of it's 8238626 calories) were well worth it. The employees were actually super friendly and seemed like they genuinely wanted to help the flyers who ventured in. And I liked the older gentleman's chuckle as I initially was only checking out with the 2 relatively healthy items until I saw the cookie and squealed at the size and softness of their baked goods inventory. "Eep! I must have this in my mouth," I thought. Al together my damage came to $14. Not too terribly shabby at an airport and the food was decent... okay, decent-ish. Kind of gritty and semi frozen on the wrap end of things, but the cookie had no distinguishable faults. I know I could have gotten much better and actually cheaper food from the Bayless counter, but in a terminal pinch, Gold Coast Dogs did the trick.

This location of Gold Coast Dogs is in Concourse L of O'Hare International Airport. Was starving after flying in from Grand Rapids - and I had a long layover, so a dog sounded really good! I opted for their Chili Dog - with cheese, onions, and hot peppers. It's really messy - so you need to be careful when eating it - lest you end up wearing the toppings! I was good though and managed to get none of it on me! My only complaint is that I'd like a bigger Hot Dog - the ones they were using seemed a bit on the small side! They sell other foods here as well - Gyros, sandwiches, burgers, and I think perhaps pizza.

Italian beef is the reason I don't go vegetarian. In full disclosure: I'm not from Chicago, but have had both Al's and Johnnie's beefs, and have studied the art form. I was skeptical about airport beef yet determined to get one before I left Chicago, so I ordered one hot and wet, and it was surprisingly good. I wasn't sure of whether to give it three or four stars - I feel like since it's airport food it should get three, but the truth is it was an excellent sandwich. The fries were great too. So - four stars, because it's hard to find something negative.

Don't go here to have your last deep dish or chicago style dog. The pizza had that frozen taste and lack any savory flavor. Chicago dog didn't taste anything close to one's out in the streets. Sorry, this place was a complete failure for a last chance at a taste for Chicago.

Great Chicago style hotdog! Everything else pretty much sucks. Lousy service, there is no place to sit either. So, it's the only place in Terminal 3 to get a great Chicago style hotdog, that's it. Stay away from the rest of the menu and be ready for rude, slow service.
