    We enjoyed Sunday brunch at Geneva during our stay at the Swissotel, where the restaurant is located. It was bustling and took a few minutes for the maitre d' to acknowledge us. In fact, the man who would be our waiter found a table for us. The maître d' did stop by later and inquire on our experience, so he may have been called away from his post earlier on. Most noticeable--and refreshing--for us was the European-ess (can't think of a better word) of the experience. A nice cheeseboard and selection of charcuterie, a vast and gorgeous array of European and American breads and pastries, outstanding yogurt and muesli offerings, and honest-to-God blintzes reminded us of breakfast in northern Italy. There was plenty of typical American fare, scrambled eggs, hash browns, fresh cut fruit, etc., as well. It's also possible to order from the menu when you splurge on the buffet brunch. He ordered an omelette and I the eggs Benedict. Both were very good--although took a while to arrive at the table. Geneva appeared to me to be a little short-staffed. As I mentioned, our entrees took a long time and I didn't get my coffee or juice until well into my meal. And as I mentioned, the delay getting seated in the first place. The coffee is European, i.e., incredibly strong, and the wait staff are as well (European, I mean...I don't know how strong they are), which I enjoyed. You'll hear several different languages being spoken during your meal. This great meal and cosmopolitan experience did not come cheap--nearly $60 for the two of us--but when in Rome...er, Chicago...you know the rest.

    The buffet is good and had lots of options but over priced. The service was slow. The poached eggs where over cooked. This place is stuck in the basement with no view.

    The waiters were nice, but you will not see them very much. There were tons of flys on the breakfast buffet. When I pointed them out no one seemed surprised or seemed to care. Gross!!!!!

    Cleverly hidden on the lower level of the Swissotel, this is a great spot for a business breakfast. I got here a bit later than the normal crowds, at around 10 am, and found the setting to be calm and the service efficient. I recommend ordering off the menu, rather than opting for the buffet. I would like to try the Swiss breakfast, which even included cheese and pearl onions, but opted for the two eggs, any style. The oatmeal creme brulee also sounded good. The menu features an array of options, not just your default eggs or cereal. The portions are not heaping, which is always a plus, and the noise level is conducive to actually hearing your dining companions.

    If you want to go for a tasty brunch in the loop without the ridiculous line, this is the place. Geneva is hidden on the lower level of the hotel and it's only open until noon on Saturday and Sunday, but that's what makes this place a secret gem. You can make reservations for big groups (I had my post-wedding brunch here) and there is never any wait from 10-noon. Try the health nut breakfast! It's healthy and delicious! The Swissotel website says the following: "Geneva. Enjoy classic American cuisine with European flair in our cozy breakfast restaurant. In the afternoon and evening hours, this elegant setting transforms into a comfortable and charming venue for a private lunch or dinner of up to 140 guests."

    Pretty good food. Horrible service. I stayed at the hotel for two nights and had breakfast here both times. You know there is something wrong when the server is doing the job of a busboy. Then, the hostess is doing the job of the servers. It is mostly a buffet and everything on the menu with the exception of the steak you can get as a part of you buffet. Here's the rub...unless you order your Eggs Benedict or whatever when you first see you waiter, you may never see him again. This place would be vastly improved by hiring 2 people to clear off tables. For $26 per person, I think they could afford it. There is one another good thing about this place, kids under 12 eat free.

    The food was pretty good. The German breakfast casserole and baked egg and corned beef hash were tasty but I've got to take this place down for being incredibly over priced. $26 for the breakfast buffet given the choices offered is ridiculous. If you want an omlette, eggs, pancakes or waffles they have to make them in the back. If you go here consider going ala- carte and saving some money. Don't get tempted by the buffet, it's not worth the money.
