This is a little local bar. They have a decent amount of televisions. Round high boy tables with stools for seating. This bar is set up with a few bar room arcade games and darts. Very low key local bar for a relaxed night. We had a pitcher of beer and left.

No karaoke on friday night, no problem, make your own. Met a friend and "local" here on Friday night. Totally our bad, we thought karaoke was Friday and Saturday (nope just Saturday) but we were here, so why not. The place wasn't particularly full, but even if it was, I'm confident the bartender, Matt(?) Mark(?), would have continued to treat us like VIPs. He was awesome. Carried great conversation with my husband about The Grateful Dead, joked with my friends about the snacks behind the bar, and shared chocolate with us all! Great local pub with a homey vibe - almost like hanging in grandma's basement. Only negative is it's cash only.

I want to be clear: this place is fine. Nothing awful about it. Nothing great about it. Their selection is fair, the prices are average, the atmosphere's okay, the bartender's a decent guy. I like what a previous reviewer had to offer about Four Trey's: "Being at Four Treys is like partying in someone's basement." Now, I LOVE a good dive bar, but here are the reasons I don't go back to Treys anymore: - There's no air conditioning (Which, last summer, for example, was equivalent to murder.) - The 2nd stall of the Ladies Room remained "out of order" for at least several months (Who knows how long it was broken before I started going there. Is it still?) - They only take cash (Yes, there's an ATM, but let's join the modern world, Treys.) - They charge for soft drinks ($2.50!? Ugh, that's a pain in the ass.) - They charge for refills of soft drinks (Come on Treys, get over yourself.)

Came here on Saturday night for karaoke and $8 bud light pitchers. It was a lot of fun! It was not too crowded when we got there but by 1am the place was packed with people singing and dancing along to the karaoke. We got there early enough so everyone in our group who wanted to sing got a chance to before things got crazy. This place is perfect because everyone is just out to have a good time and it's not too fussy. Many of the songs people sing at karaoke are freaking hilarious and are total throwbacks. I was a big fan of the guy in his late 20s who had an outfit and haircut that were straight out of 1996. Perfect addition to a place that feels like it is from yesteryear. I cannot say I'll be a regular at Four Treys but when people want to get loose with some karaoke on a Saturday night and get drunk for not much money at all I'll probably recommend Four Treys!

The best dive in Roscoe and one of my top 3 favorite in Chicago! The best deals in town and friendly staff. A wonderful day drinking spot. I love that Four Treys is what it is. Not a boring, sterile, bar constantly trying to be hip, selling it's soul to the next Chicago trend. I aim to be as authentic and true to myself as Four Treys.... ... Wait a sec... Am I looking up to a bar as a role model? Sorry, Mom.

Have been here many times for Saturday night karaoke. It's always a guarantee that you will strike up a conversation with a fellow patron, or dance with a random group of Journey lovers. I've never gone here and not run into someone I know, which is bizarre given that I've never lived anywhere close to Roscoe village. It's just that kind of place. Feels more like a party in my unfinished basement than a neighborhood bar. The prices are right on par with this theme as well.

I was stuck at about 3.5 stars for this place. It would have been 4 if I hadn't had my last experience there with a bitchy, rude waitress and when they were out of the Bud Light pitchers on special, she felt like substituting an $18 pitcher was no problem. Ugh. Some nights this place can feel a little too cliquey. We live about 200 yards away, so I wanted to love this place. Karaoke on Saturday nights is the most ghetto I've ever seen, but fun if you're with the right people. The crowds on Saturday nights also seem more fun and welcoming. Other times we've gone here and felt totally unwelcome. The owners live down the street from me and are completely awesome, so I know that it's mostly just the staff and the "regular" clientele. Still, I will continue to stop in when I want to drink someplace a little dirty.

I've only been to Four Treys on nights when karaoke is happening. The place is usually packed and it's not laid out for a big crowd. The bar is at the very front but the karaoke is in the back. So everyone heads back there but a pool table takes up about 50% of the space. Still, every time I've gone I've had a good time and the drinks are cheap.

Corey S. wrote: "Townie bar with a rude staff and even more terrible customer base. 2 beers on tap (1 works), $2 dollar cokes, 3 jerks in cubs hats and sweatpants who continually refer to one another as faggot throughout their drunken attempt at pool, 1 shitty pool table, and a bunch of bent ass steel tip darts." Yes, it is all true. But 2 stars worth? No. Yes, it's a locals bar that puts local in locals. Neighborhood imbibers and drunkards call this no-frills bar home. With $2 PBRs and daily drink specials you would call it home too. I went twice and enjoyed it for what it was an not what I wanted it to be.

Four Trey's is a friendly neighborhood bar that allows well-behaved dogs. I really enjoy the place. For the few crybabies on here who don't like dogs, stay out. The atmosphere is always enjoyable and having the chance to enjoy a cold drink with my dog means a lot to me. I fully recommend this establishment.

went here for the first time last night. it feels like your in someones basement they have Carpet. most of the beer is Bottle beer but they have Bud light and Mangers cider on tap. they have board game you can play. if you come here During the week you can get 2.50 Pbr and 3 Dollar Jameson shots. if you are by here i would check this place out

Our favorite neighborhood bar. My friends and I love Saturdays and Four Treys, which is karaoke night. The DJ is great and the crowd is the friendliest in the city. This place is the opposite of pretentious. You can wear anything, drink anything, sing anything, and still make new friends here. A terrific place for dancing, since the DJ plays good tunes between karaoke hits. Saturdays are also $6 pitchers. Overall drink prices are very cheap here. One memorable Saturday at Four Treys, my friends and I were riveted--yes riveted--by an older man in a uniform who serenaded the crowd with a head-banging, lighter-worthy rendition of Journey's "Separate Ways." "Someday love will find you..." The neighborhood bar scene doesn't get any better than this!

This place only gets 5 stars because they allow dogs to sit inside! We watched a Cards-Cubs game here and were the only people there. They don't sell food but do have a massive binder with menues from the area. Found a local pizza joint that delivered to us bar-side. Would have been fun if our pooch could have socialized with other dogs, but worth a trip back just so he can sit at the bar with us.

Great staff, reasonable prices, never to crowded. Plus, I can bring my dog? Awesome, sold, love this bar! Watched the hawks win here. You can order food in from anywhere but reccomend the sushi place on Belmont. Great jukebox, pool tables. Karaoke Saturday's

"Chicago's best bar with carpeting." There are great times to be had at the Treys. My roommate and I found this place about 5 years ago when living around the corner. It was the closest place to get drunk on a cold winter's night. That's about it. Short on atmosphere. Short on selection. No food. But Saturday nights...now I like Saturday nights. Saturday night is Karaoke night, and my buddies and I have been coming here for years. It's the kind of place we always seem to end up visiting after midnight when it's packed. We'll storm in, tip the Karaoke DJ, and drink straight from our $6 pitchers until we can't feel feelings. I don't know if they're licensed to do this, but they seem to stay open until about 3am or after. Honestly, I can't remember if they sell beer that late, but I know I've left that late. Unfortunately, there is a drawback to drinking straight from a $6 pitcher of light beer. Guaranteed headache on Sunday morning. Essentially, you've got a crappy bar serving crappy beer and people signing crappy songs. The floor is carpeted (how many other bars can say that?), and the people are friendly. I would have taken away a star for smokiness, but the State of IL took care of that problem.

since my husband and I moved to Roscoe Village a little over a year ago Four Treys has become our favorite neighborhood watering hole. The atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. service is always friendly. AWESOME specials - $3 stoli drinks on Friday. sold! the best part? they welcome our 100 lb dobe mix with love and treats.

Treys is a comfortable neighborhood bar, which just happens to be in MY neighborhood. Barkeeps are attentive and homey. They have paneling on the walls. So it feels like my childhood living room. Plus beer.

I lived across the street from this bar for a few years when I first moved to Chicago. It is the epitome of neighborhood corner bar. You will find dogs, pool tables, darts, a great juke and friendly bartenders. Years ago this was a big biker bar, and it has been around since the Riverview days...which gives it great character. You get the feeling this bar has seen everything over the years. The friends I made back when I was a regular were amazing people that I will never forget. These days I only make it back every so often...but like Celine, my love goes on.

Look, I don't dislike the Four Treys. It's an okay bar. What I do dislike it their garage. You see, the Four Treys has a garage space in the back that they use occasionally for special or private events. As the Roscoe Village Street festival occurred this weekend, the Four Treys opened their garage to accommodate extra patrons. Here are my knocks against the space: 1. It was crowded. It's a small place, and very cramped. 2. There were alot of jerks around, especially one dude in a Frank Thomas jersey who tried to grind with my friend while she was doing karaoke. 3. They only had cans of PBR and Bud Light, and they were charging 4 dollars a can. 4 dollars a can! For PBR! What do they think they are? Wrigley Field?

  • Dave O.

I'm a big fan. I recently moved out of the area and this is the #1 thing I miss from Roscoe Village. That and Tony's Burrito Mex. Down to earth regulars & bar tenders, the owner is a sweet heart...its just hard to beat. It's a good home-feeling neighbor bar that you quickly learn to love. Plus, it's dog friendly! The only thing I put into question here is that Yelp says the nearest L track is the Addison Brown, when I believe the Paulina Brown line stop might be more direct, if only a block or 2 longer.

You know the night is being finished off right when Deanna and Amy get up to sing in a crowd of bad singers, everybody sings along without prevail, there's a lot of dancing going on and I almost fall down -- twice. All in all a good bar that's close to home (thank god!) with inexpensive drinks. Sort of feels like you're in someone's home, but that's just part of it's charm.

    (3)
  • Jill P.

This bar is fantastic. All of the bartenders rock, it's laid back and they have great specials. Love the jukebox. It's a great place for day drinking. Or night drinking.

This place has cheap beer, a friendly atmosphere, many games (board games, bag-o, pool, ect.), and good clientle. The detail that makes this bar stand out is that they let you bring your dog. They'll even bring your dog treats while you enjoy your cold beer. If you don't like the dog policy, there's plenty of bars nearby. For me, that's the reason to go there. Why 2 stars? Even on a day when all the windows and doors are open this place reeks of it's many years of cigarette smoke penetrating the walls. I don't understand the lack of ventilation. Or perhaps this place is just so old skool that there's no getting the stank out. I just don't enjoy the pervading smell of the place. Also, while they have excellent specials, they don't have a ton of selection. For a Roscoe bar, I'd like to see more draft beers.

  • Justin G.

I like the Four Treys. I like it a lot. It's a great place to hang out, play some darts, and drink a brew with your friends and some dogs. The bartenders are very nice, patient, and friendly. The space leaves a little to be desired, but they've got good games, good seating, yet enough open space for pool and darts. The only reason that it gets 3 stars from me is that it has a very poor selection of beers on tap. Compared to most of the other bars in Roscoe Village, it has a very poor tap selection. Other than that, I really do like the place a lot.

  • Katie B.

Seeing Deanna sing a Ruth Brown was the highlight of the night, and even though Four Treys was filled with a lot of loud bad singers, it was a great place to be with a bunch of yelpers. Amy H.'s version of Bobby McGee was even better at Four Treys than it was at Brando's... twice in one week? I'm a lucky girl. Cheap beers, good crowd.

Our little group came in on Superbowl Sunday (of all days)! It wasn't too crowded so we brought our Golden Retrievers with us and had a blast. (We work for golden rescue and did an adoption event in the neighborhood earlier in the day.) The Bloody Marys were great, Colleen is a hoot and we'd come back any day with our pups in tow. It reminds me of my uncle's bar in Bucktown many years ago (before it got hip, overpriced and therefore..ruined). Hey - for those who think the dog thing is obnoxious - they have a sign right in the window saying it's a dog friendly bar. Go somewhere else and complain. We loved it and we shall return. Maybe with more dogs to annoy Colin.

  • John D.

reasons to go here: 1 - $5 pitchers 2 - Kareoke 3 - You can bring your dog before 7 pm reasons not to go here: It smells like a bar with $5 pitchers that you can bring your dog to The jukebox was strangely expensive and was broken/turned off and ate my money

    (3)
  • Brian H.

Pretty friendly neighborhood dive. I live on the same block, it's cheap, and I can bring my dog in the bar with me. Oh yes, no more rushing to walk the dog before I head out for the night, I can do both in one trip! But other than those 3 key features, really nothing special about this place.

    (3)
  • Pauly D.

Wow, these reviews are hysterical! I especially enjoy Corey S. who was complaining about $2 cokes. To quote Back to the Future Part 3: "Water? If you want water, you go dunk your head in the trough out there. This is what we pour [pours a glass of whiskey]." There's a Speedway across the street if you want a coke. If you want a sterile bar that plays Coldplay, Riverview Tavern is just up the street. This bar functions best for people who go to a bar to drink (what a concept!). $2 PBRs everyday. Friendly, funny staff & patrons. Great place to play shitty Aerosmith songs on the jukebox & be silly drunk with friends. Not the best place to take your parents or straight edge friends looking for a California turkey sub.

I spent a Tuesday afternoon at Four Treyswith my friend and his German Shephard/Golden Retriever. As soon as we walked through the door, the nice Polish blond bartender had already come over with a large bowl of water for the dog and some tasty dog treats. We spent over three hours at the bar, during which time the bartender had prepared two bags of popcorn specifically for us. She also permitted us to bring our own food, so my friend ran out for about 10 minutes and came back with a huge taco dinner from the taqueria on the corner of Damon and Belmont. The dog was happy, we were happy, and the crowd was very low key on that Tuesday afternoon. We will be coming back, hopefully with dog and food in tow!

A great place when you are sitting around and don't want to get dressed up, but want to go out and have some drinks! it looks as if it could have been an old timers bar at one time, but now the crowd is either college, late twenties or sometimes office DB's!!! but good for a "NO where to go for a Monday bar"

  • Laura I.

I wholeheartedly agree with the girl who said it's like going to the basement of someone you were never really friends with to begin with. This place is lit so bright, it makes you feel awkward. Simple mixed drinks are not even halfway decent. The only good thing (?) is dogs are allowed to come in with you during the summer, when they keep the large door-sized windows open as well. But even that isn't enough to keep me here. I mean, it's not as if my dog would enjoy it any more than I would.

As much as I laugh when I walk in this bar, I can't get away from it. I come from a small town in central IL so waterholes like this feel like home to me; however, living in Chicago for the past two years, I've lost my roots for bars like this. Four Treys is dog friendly, cheap on drinks, and on Saturdays I can sing my heart out to MeatLoaf and other fun karaoke jams. One thing I was happy to see go away was smoking inside the bar due to the statewide ban. Prior to that, you could be in there for one beer, walk out, and still feel like you swam in a pool of ashes. Now if only they can fix the temperature to adapt to the weather outside, it would be grand.

I have been a regular here for almost two years now, and it's all about cheap drinks and good company. There is a drink special for every day of the week. it ranges from $3 Stoli Fridays $2 Old style Thurs. $2 Bud or Bud light $3 vodka lemonaid and free pool on Sunday. Karaoke on Sat. along with $6 pitchers of bud light. Have a dog? Feel free to bring it along But not on Sat. too busy. In short I love this bar, the owners are nice the bartenders are friendly and the patrons are down to earth and the atmosphere is comfortable. If anything go and try out the bar stools, you'll never want to leave.

You can tell this place has been here a long time. It has a style that is very distinct from the rest of Roscoe Village.

This place really belongs in Sisters Lake, MI, but I'm glad it's here. There's nothing fancy about it, but it has a lot of charm. The servers are friendly and everyone inside seems to have been friends for years. I can bring my puppy in too!

Four Treys is kind of like your pot bellied middle aged uncle who wears Hawaiian shirts all the time. He isn't going to impress anyone, but he sure knows how to show you a good time. I'll admit I'm generally a guy who likes the large beer selection, surrounded by trendy hipster-ish art and fancy beer pairings. Honestly, four stars might be a little high but I always have a good time here. Treys is the kind of place that probably looks like it did ten years ago and will probably look the same ten years from now. It's like your old room back at your parents place . Dusty old football helmets hang from the ceiling, there a large pool table in the middle and a dart board plastered to the back wall. You can buy a pitcher of Bud Light on a Saturday for what it would cost for a single beer at some of the nearby establishments. Moreover, you can sing Karaoke and bring your dog (except no dogs on Saturdays). This is the perfect place for a cold winter night when you and your buddy's just want to down a lot of beer without breaking the bank. Also, it might not be the first place you think of for large groups, but I attended a great geriatric themed Christmas party that some friends of mine threw here. Overall, if you like dive bars then this is what your looking for.

  • Keith A.

Came here late night on a friday night. Seems like I should've been here on a saturday night, oh well. It's a normal neighborhood bar and it's cash only. There really weren't that many people here even though it was a friday night. The beer selection is as expected with some bells and sam adams. The Bell's sure was expensive though as it was $6.50 a beer. I probably should've moved onto something else, but I didn't. The bartender was cool and easy to get a hold of. Four Treys is more 2.5 stars for me and with it being right across the street from a friend's, its likely I'll be back here for a re-evaluation at some point. But, it just doesn't seem that four treys is my scene for me at least.

Did a little pre and post Retro on Roscoe partying here...didn't stay long and didn't drink much...but it has a fun, neighborhoody atmosphere. The witty chick that was tending bar when we arrived was hilarious. The downside, it was Africa hot in there later when the place filled up. No air conditioning I hear? Ugh...that's no fun. We had a table and the crowd was fun so I can't complain though. I'll be back...

Context is everything. Four Treys? If that's the case, then the other six guys in the game are holding four bedposts, four fins, four demons, four luckies, four snowmen and four cowboys, You walk into Four Treys thinking, hey, sweet, a few cold ones post-game after one of the Roscoe fests. I just pulled four of a kind. Yee-uh. And then the cards are shown, and you're holding a big time bad beat. That's the feeling you'll have upon a visit to Four Treys. Why? Because no matter how many pints o'black you've had at the fest, you're still going to walk into no AC, stale beer and vomit drenched carpet like you had in the party room back at the ol' country club in 19-, er, something and faux wood walls. Four Treys? I'm not even thinking Four Deuces. I'm just thinking a deuce. Singular. Fold.

  • Angie M.

Four Treys is ridiculous in the best way possible. First and foremost DO NOT come here sober. Especially on a Saturday night after 11pm. Being at Four Treys is like partying in someone's basement. There's carpet, which always kind of scares me, wood paneled walls, tiled ceilings and decor consisting of light-up beer signs and Christmas lights. It's totally freaking awesome. Best discovery for sure was karaoke. I was in on a Saturday night, so I'm not sure what happens other nights of the week, but karaoke for sure on Saturdays. Nothing says "Summer Rules" like wailing Welcome to the Jungle at 1am to a room full of your newly closest drinking friends. Beer prices aren't staggeringly cheap, but certainly not offensive. Plan on shelling out about $4 for domestic bottles. Service behind the bar was friendly and speedy. Finally, it's hotter than hell in this place. A ponytail and a tank top are your friends. Four Treys is easily one of my new fave dive bars.

  • mike m.

Four Treys has been sponsoring my soccer team for years, so I'm there once a week every week year round more or less. Four Treys is Chicago at its best - a throwback joint in a gentrified neighborhood that has retained its authenticity as a nieghborhood without ever changing to pander to all the new condo buying neighbors. As a result everyone's welcome, and everyone can kick back and relax.

I don't get this place; sometime it can be one of the greatest places to go and the other time it really sucks. The bar tenders seem to only want to work just hard enough to get by. You ask one bartender for a drink and they say they do not have it, but you ask another bartender and they will tell you they do have it. I understand if you think you don't have it but the lack of effort and the fact that he was totally lying really has turned me off of this place. On the plus side Saturday nights are good and they are never really packed. And if you going during the day they let you bring your dogs in, which is cool if you are just walking around and decide you need a drink (don't lie it happens to everyone). I don't mind going here, but if I had a choice there are many other bars in the area that are worth going to a lot more.

  • Dave C.

Charming place with a delightful blonde girl with an oddly placed accent bartending (usually weekdays). Decent prices on drinks; plenty of games and ongoings. If you have a friendly dog this is your bar, no food is served so this is apparently legal. They actually welcome your pooch while you drink.

    (4)
  • Megan S.

great people hang out at this bar. I have been coming to the Treys for 5 years. There is always someone fun to talk to. Bartenders rock and are all very nice. You can wear whatever you want and get a good priced drink any day of the week.

Ok, how have I not yet reviewed Four Treys?! I have no idea, but obviously I am remedying that right now! Four Treys is the absolute perfect dive bar in my eyes! Dogs allowed, hammerhead shark above the bar, pool, darts, Ms. Pacman sit-down machine, and a jukebox?! Dive Perfection! Stop in, stay until you've been over served.

It's a real Chicago neighborhood bar that's dog friendly and cash only. Saturday night, with karaoke, is a big night here. The bartenders are friendly and fast. The owner is an irish lass who's ties to this neighborhood and establishment predates every new age yuppie that now populates Roscoe Village (Yes, including me). She is a blast to talk with. Come here with a group of friends and you'll have a great time. Come here alone and you'll meet some great people and have a good time. Come here with an attitude and credit cards, you'll be better off drinking at your Olive Garden in Naperville.

All the comforts of your parents basement, without the curfew! Saturday nights at Four Treys are pretty much a guaranteed good time if you're into karaoke and pitchers of bud light. The karaoke is well done with no dead spots - not missing a beat, the dj usually plays Top 40 dance music while you're waiting for the next stumbling American Idol to take the mic. The crowd is friendly and you'll often see the same faces as it's a neighborhood place. Drinks are reasonable and with $8 pitchers of bud light on Saturdays it's pretty easy to know what to order. The only Saturday I would NOT recommend going here is during the Retro on Roscoe street fest. Then they open up this back garage part (which normally is never open) and charge big bucks for cans of bud light (no pitchers during the street fest, wah wah wah). BOTTOM LINE: All in all, on a Saturday night it probably has the highest energy in the Roscoe Village area, making it a good spot to wrap up an evening with some sing-a-longs.

Awesome place. Dog-friendly, affordable drinks and a killer comedy night on Tuesdays. I saw Hannibal Buress (Comedy Central, former Saturday Night Live writer, etc.) drop in at the open mic like a month ago. It was crazy! Come down and check it out!

I've been here a few times with my dog on a saturday afternoon. I initially thought that I would stay here for a couple of beers but on both visits, i stayed for about 3 plus hours. Great people that have conversation with, I was rewarded with a free shot because I was able to get my pup to do several tricks much to the amusement of patrons and employees and a decent beer selection. Cash only, not a big deal. Give this place a shot on a non busy day, its perfectly located nearby the intersection of Damen and Roscoe.

I threw a party here last month, with the help of some other lovely ladies, and all I can say is that the owner of Four Treys and her staff are the nicest and most wonderful people to deal with. They were accommodating and tried their best to go above and beyond the call of duty for us. Thank you Four Treys Tavern!!

This is not a bad spot for a local neighborhood dive bar. The atmosphere here is comfortable, friendly, and the prices are reasonable. If you want good night of fun, and laughs, check out their Saturday Karaoke Night. Cheers!

$4! $4! No way! This has got to be a joke. Toto wake up we are finally in Kansas! I am elated to find out that a bar in Chicago could possibly offer a deal this good! And friendly bartenders to boot when does this dream end! The 6 of us belly up to the bar and gradually commit to another bloody mary. After all, this bloody is only $4. How can you possibly go wrong? As I entered the bar I told myself I'd switch to beer. I had already enjoyed two heavy bloody marys at brunch and didn't think I was up for another. After "Jeff" (sorry, I think that's correct) raved about his bloody I figured I must try it. It was decent. Worth all the raving? Well, I like mine with a little more kick! A lot more kick to be honest, but I demolished it in no time. Unfortunately, the crowd was ready to call it quits so quit I did. If I am back in the neighborhood I will definitely stop in!

How have I not reviewed this place yet? One of the best neighborhood bars in Chicago. Located in Roscoe Village, the bar staff is awesome and very friendly. Owner is in the bar frequently and she's so nice. They have a great jukebox, pool table and dart boards. Locals love this place and you can always expect a good crowd when there's a Bears, Cubs or Hawks game on. The one downside...... Saturday Night is Karaoke Night. So unless you're a total pop-your-coller douche and like that sort of thing avoid this bar on Karaoke Night!

This bar is perfectly laid back. I don't mean that the owner has contrived the atmosphere and decor to seem laid back. In fact- the decor in the place looks like it has been collected over the years and kept because it still works, not because it matches some designer's vision. The overall effect is that you're hanging out at a friend's house, where a little spilled beer isn't a big deal. You'll usually run in to a friendly dog or two here. I like going during the week (Tuesday night Trivia. It almost deserves its own positive review) where you'll probably meet Anna, the bartender who is always nice but never sacchrine sweet (this is a good thing), The prices are also right: $2.50 PBRs during the week. Saturday Karaoke is fun where there is little shame in butchering a song, but a good rendition is always appreciated. The dj whose name I always forget plays a dancable mix that's a little heavy on the Lady Gaga, but otherwise pretty palatable and generally fun. It's usually pretty packed on Saturdays, too. If you're looking for a place that's polished and will serve you drinks with umbrellas or things that end in "tini" while you wear stilletos, I suggest you look elsewhere. If you want to wear jeans and hang out, this is the place to go.

Witnessed: A dog sitting on a bar stool with his head on the bar. Knocked over his owner's drink with his paw. Cut that dog off, yo, he is crunk. A baby stroller. More than one baby stroller, actually. The bartender poured an extra shot into my bloody mary. Kudos to that. I would write more but I was as crunk as that dog.

A bar full of quirky neighbors, fireman and randoms, fine by me. A bar that looks pretty much like a '70's suburban basement? No problem. Cheap drinks and relatively friendly service, certainly pluses. Low ceilings, too bright florescent lighting and kind of a stale beer stench in the backroom keep this from being a world class dive bar.

A really nice neighborhood bar that is bigger than it looks on the outside. That being said if you rside outside of Roscoe village no real reason to come to this bar. This is perhaps the closest bar I have seen that looks like that bar from goodfellas.

No self respecting Chicago bar charges $4-effing-.50 for a shot of Malort. and the dog thing is obnoxious too. I'm going to open a cat friendly place that has Malort on tap across the street and call it the Trey Fours. screw this place.

The diviest of dives, man. Cash only. Dog friendly. No food except for a bag or two of potato chips hanging from the ceiling. Carpet that looks like it has lived 19 lifetimes. Dinginess everywhere. Karaoke binders that carry a pungent sickly sweet swell of dozens of spilled beers. Basically, it's like a better-lit fraternity basement party, with slightly better drink selections. And less PDA. The front of the bar is where you'll do your ordering (I recommend sticking to hard liquor or bottled beers, as I've had taste issues with the draft sometimes), but head back to play pool or darts or claim a table for karaoke. This is one of those bars that will be dead as a doornail at 10 p.m. and suddenly breaking the fire code 45 minutes later. It gets a good crowd, from 20 somethings all the way up through the occasional grandparent, and everyone is typically in a good mood (probably because you can feel comfortable rolling into this place in jeans, a hoodie, and Chucks, even on a Saturday night). Drink prices are good, the guy selling tamales tends to show up right when you need him, and the bathrooms are clean enough to get the job done, which is of some comfort considering how divey the place really is. It gets hot in the summer, as the A/C struggles to keep up, so dress accordingly, or avoid it on the hottest of weekend nights.

Four Treys was just the speed I was looking for on a Sunday afternoon. We had finished up brunch at nearby Black Rock and were looking to continue the drinking in a casual atmosphere. After turning down another bar down the street that was a little too in-your-face for us, we spotted Four Treys and stopped in. It's not much to look at, but you'll be greeted by the bartender and can find a decent selection of your typical bar beers. Be prepared for cash only; however, an ATM is conveniently located within the bar. Dog friendly! It didn't do me much good because we'd previously been somewhere that I couldn't bring the pooch and the weather was not nice enough to leave her in the car, but it's nice to know that if someone suggests meeting here and I'm worried about time that I can bring the pup.

Seriously, what is not to love about this place?! Karaoke, dive bar, cheap drinks, and feeling like you just crashed somebody's basement party in college. Staff and bartenders and friendly, and just a fun place to be. You really do feel like you're chillin in somebody's basement when you come to four treys. Love it. I'll be back.

This is a little local bar. They have a decent amount of televisions. Round high boy tables with stools for seating. This bar is set up with a few bar room arcade games and darts. Very low key local bar for a relaxed night. We had a pitcher of beer and left.

  • Mike K.

Singular. Fold.

This place really belongs in Sisters Lake, MI, but I'm glad it's here. There's nothing fancy about it, but it has a lot of charm. The servers are friendly and everyone inside seems to have been friends for years. I can bring my puppy in too!

Ok, how have I not yet reviewed Four Treys?! I have no idea, but obviously I am remedying that right now! Four Treys is the absolute perfect dive bar in my eyes!

I'm a big fan. I recently moved out of the area and this is the #1 thing I miss from Roscoe Village. That and Tony's Burrito Mex. Down to earth regulars & bar tenders, the owner is a sweet heart...its just hard to beat. It's a good home-feeling neighbor bar that you quickly learn to love. Plus, it's dog friendly! The only thing I put into question here is that Yelp says the nearest L track is the Addison Brown, when I believe the Paulina Brown line stop might be more direct, if only a block or 2 longer.

Yes, it is all true.

Four Trey's is a friendly neighborhood bar that allows well-behaved dogs. I really enjoy the place. For the few crybabies on here who don't like dogs, stay out.

Treys is a comfortable neighborhood bar, which just happens to be in MY neighborhood. Barkeeps are attentive and homey. They have paneling on the walls. So it feels like my childhood living room. Plus beer.

Sorry, Mom.

Seeing Deanna sing a Ruth Brown was the highlight of the night, and even though Four Treys was filled with a lot of loud bad singers, it was a great place to be with a bunch of yelpers. Maybe with more dogs to annoy Colin.

reasons to go here: 1 - $5 pitchers 2 - Kareoke 3 - You can bring your dog before 7 pm reasons not to go here: It smells like a bar with $5 pitchers that you can bring your dog to The jukebox was strangely expensive and was broken/turned off and ate my money

Pretty friendly neighborhood dive. I live on the same block, it's cheap, and I can bring my dog in the bar with me. Oh yes, no more rushing to walk the dog before I head out for the night, I can do both in one trip! But other than those 3 key features, really nothing special about this place.

    (3)
  • Dave C.

Charming place with a delightful blonde girl with an oddly placed accent bartending (usually weekdays). Decent prices on drinks; plenty of games and ongoings. If you have a friendly dog this is your bar, no food is served so this is apparently legal. They actually welcome your pooch while you drink.

great people hang out at this bar. I have been coming to the Treys for 5 years. There is always someone fun to talk to. Bartenders rock and are all very nice. You can wear whatever you want and get a good priced drink any day of the week.

Yes, it is all true.

Cheers!

    (3)
  • Andy M.

You can wear whatever you want and get a good priced drink any day of the week.

i like, but beware of the schitzo dude that sometimes hangs out there. at least he might buy you a drink, but...at...what...price, beer?

This is a little local bar. They have a decent amount of televisions. Round high boy tables with stools for seating. This bar is set up with a few bar room arcade games and darts. Very low key local bar for a relaxed night. We had a pitcher of beer and left.

2.5.. Joint is dismal/ Strange Crowd and not much to see here! Couple strange video games near the bar that seem popular? Mothers Basement is the best description I believe.. Prices are average and absolutely NO WOMEN in this dump! Just a good place to hide and tie one on... get dat did

Singular. Fold.

This place really belongs in Sisters Lake, MI, but I'm glad it's here. There's nothing fancy about it, but it has a lot of charm. The servers are friendly and everyone inside seems to have been friends for years. I can bring my puppy in too!

Sorry, Mom.
