Honestly it seems that I kick myself a lot, and my rear is sore yet again for not trying this place sooner. I got a cheeseburger combo which comes with a massive burger topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle (BIG SLICE), and grilled onions, plus ketchup and mustard, a big pile of fries, and a 20oz pop, or if you're not working (or maybe if you are) a 12oz beer. Beer on lunch break? Hooray! All this for less than the price of a large soup at stupid Fox and Obel. Damn you Fox and Obel for bleeding my wallet dry for years, I hate you. Anyway, and this is only because I am crazy, there is a reason for my minus one star. Here goes. I apparently have some control freak kitchen issues. I knew this. I also like bloody meat, so every passing minute that my burger was still on the grill was sending my delicate psyche into an uproar. I wish I couldn't see them cooking my burger because it was seriously starting to give me a panic attack worse than the ones that David got in Six Feet Under after he was attacked by that crazy guy in the hoodie. Luckily, the guy finally pulled my burger off the grill and it came out surprisingly unburnt. Now maybe I can afford therapy with the money I saved on this lunch.

Restaurant update: Please read my prior review for full details including pro's and con's of the restaurant. I went here for a quick lunch with my wife and ended up realizing again that the prices for the combo meal were quite high compared to other lunch choices here. I ended up with the philly steak combo which was cooked well with cheese, shrooms, and green pepper. A bit on the small side and falling apart. The french fries came with skin on and cooked fresh. All and all 10 dollars with get you a meal with a drink either beer or soft drink. I believe the prices are on the higher side because of the added option of beer with your meal. Otherwise I will try other restaurants in this area before coming back here for lunch. On the plus side they have quite a extensive menu from burritos to burgers so if you are looking for a grease joint this might be the place! FYI I also scanned in the menu this time so you can see the specials and cost of everything on the menu.

I used to live right above the Flamingo, and I wore this place out. Love the burgers, love the giant omelettes and hash browns, and really love the tuna melt. The guys behind the counter will definitely get to know you if you show up often enough, and conversations with them were always friendly and pleasant. I also have to mention the cups...I'm a sucker for pop in a styrofoam cup. Nothing's better. As far as the bar section is concerned, I never actually saw anyone sitting at the bar. But it always looked clean. I don't make it out to the Flamingo nearly as often as I used to, but it's definitely a place I will keep coming back to.

This place is right across from our apartment, and is our go-to joint for sandwiches, burgers, dogs and unique daily specials. Most plates are around $8-9 and come with fries and either a "pop" or a 12oz draft beer. Try the Navy Pier Burger with bacon and cheese, nine hot wings for $9 or the tuna melt with swiss on grilled rye. Also a nice little bar for watching games or simply tossing back a few cold ones after visiting the Navy Pier. Breakfast served as well, including an egg scramble with chorizo sausage. Certainly worth stopping in!

We had an hour to kill before going to see a movie at AMC river east, so we walked around. We walked past this place and figured they probably were decently priced, so we stopped in for a drink. Draft beers were $2.50, and a pitcher was $10. My whiskey and ginger-ale was $5.50. The large basket of cheese fries was under $3. Everyone was happy, and it didn't cost much. The bar tender, and the guys behind the grill were both really nice. The fries were fresh and tasty. If you are ever in this area and want somewhere cheap to go, this is your place. Too bad it's not open very late.

Pleasantly surprised- tasty beef tacos and big juicy turkey burgers. across the street from a dogpark on Grand ave- clean small- tables and chairs with two counters- to the right the grill- straight ahead the bar. I ordered to go from the grill. Standard fried food menu- gyros fish sandwich fries tacos burgets hot dogs. Reasonable prices. Not greasy tasting and fresh and quite good!!!

Ok so seriously this place has nothing "great" or ground breaking food to offer. However, it is a SUPERB local bar, the bar tenders here are great and so are the customers. This is a great place to go if you are looking for a cheap drink and maybe catch a game. I'm so glad that this place is near me in Streeterville because there are not a lot of cheap options around here! Oh and if you live in the building, they deliver.

The Gyro meat was so dry I almost choked on it. The best part of my meal were the fries. I don't think i will be giving this place my money again.

LOVE these guys. I live right next door and I order from them on many a hungover weekend morning. I just call them up, ask for a veggie omlet with hashbrowns and rye toast, and when I come to walk my dog in ten minutes, it's there waiting for me! And it's only $9 for a solid meal. I actually was eating this on my building rooftop the other day when a guy stopped me and said, "WHERE DID U GET THAT? That's EXACTLY what I was craving this morning!" and I said, "Flamingo! Right down there!" and pointed to it from my roof. The guy's mouth dropped to the floor. He said he always assumed it was a shitty place, because it doesn't have much decoration and its on a little strip with a nail place and a dog food place. But I told him some of the best stuff is hidden. And that they are so polite, clean, friendly, and quick there. I love that it's kind of a hidden gem, but I hope more people go there to give them business because they deserve it!

Ok, honestly- if you want good food and drink, this is the place. No joke, such great drinks and food. No, there isn't a background music that you can jive to but honestly so worth the value here compare to what's around streetervle.

A quick serve greasy spoon with a small bar. You will not be going here for the atmosphere! However, when you are hungover or you are looking for a quick bite on a budget, you will not find another place like it in Streeterville. Gyros, burgers, griddle breakfast, etc. and grab a domestic or Mexican beer. The prices can't be beat either you can get a meal and a beer for under $10!!!! Like I said a unique find in Streeterville! Oh, if you live close they offer free delivery too!

Best burgers for a great price. Everything is cooked to order. I especially love the turkey burger. My son stops there weekly after school and they all know him by name. A local gem in Streeterville.

Wow, I've walked pass this block many times and didn't know there was a hole-in-the-wall bar right there! Alright, here's the lowdown: -Pretty darn cheap eats -Standard grease-joint fare (brugers, gyros, tacos) -CHEAP beer -If you looking for ambience, uh, definitely not your place. Overall, I was moderately satisfied with my chicken taco with 12 oz beer combo for my Wednesday lunch. I plan to come back every few weeks as the craving hits.

Great steak tacos! The rest of the menu is rather large, and includes a vast array of grill-type food, like burgers, fries, onion rings, sandwiches, etc. It's also nice they have a bar, but need to stay open later to get more evening foot traffic. Interior could use a little sprucing up however...

Flamingo is out of the way which is good and bad. It's a nice break from the crowds of people a few blocks away, but kinda out of the way for what it is. Flamingo isn't going for anything special it is a burger / hot dog and fries kinda place. For being a burger place they have a large menu - they have patty melts, tacos, and pizza puffs. Many of the items have a combo meal with them that comes with fries and a drink. My favorite part of this was that you could either get a 20oz pop, or a 12oz beer with your combo. I ended up getting the fried polish combo with an orange soda. The polish was decent, I think its pretty hard to mess up something like that. For what it is Flamingo does it well, personally I could get the same food a lot closer to work so its going to be hard for me to make it Flamingo again.

Flamingo is a great spot in Streeterville. They've picked up much of the neighborhood crowd from CND closing down the street. Their food is GREAT and really affordable. The brothers that own the place are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate everyone. It's a must for people headed to the lake or Navy Pier!

My head hurt. It hurt beyond 1 Advil, 2 Advil, even 3 Advil. It all started after eating Flamingo's shrimp basket dinner. They give you a side of creamy coleslaw, french bread, a heap of fries, and lots of greasy, profoundly deep fried hecka salty shrimp. My brain told me to stop. My stomach started to swell (When are you due? would've been a totally legit question at that point). And my head began to pulsate slowly, loudly. Here's the kicker. I didn't even eat the bread and coleslaw nor did I finish the fries. Flamingo's might as well be Voldemort as far as my body is concerned. Stay away.

Flamingo is an interesting little restaurant that seems pretty out of place in Streeterville. It would probably be more suited to say, a strip mall or a rural town center. Nevertheless, its presence is a welcome alternative to all the swanky dining options that line this neighborhood's streets. When you're sick of paying $13 for a sandwich or salad at Fox & Obel or $6 for a beer at D4, Flamingo is a pretty good place to go to get out of the way of Navy Pier traffic and into the closest thing around to a "dive" restaurant. I have been here about ten times and only ever ordered one thing: the steak burrito. They do this one up right though; for about $5.50 you get a big burrito full of tasty grilled deliciousness, a heaping basket of fries and a beer. Then you and your friends can see if you can meet the challenge of "buy four pitchers of beer, get the fifth one free". This challenge is not advisable and nearly impossible though, given that they close at like 9pm.

Flamingos is a decent spot... it's across the street from my job so it's very convenient for me lol! the prices are good for being down town... I love that they have a bar in the back... Great place to have a few brewskis after work.

This restaurant served two purposes: it's cheap and right around the corner from The W. While The W's Wave restaurant is quite nice, I do not always want to spend $30 on dinner for one. Here they have a plethora of "street food" available. Burgers, phillys, gyros, and more. For an average price of $8, you get your choice of an entrée, fries, and wither a 20 oz. soda or a 12 oz. beer. Really a nice deal. White only three stars? Despite it's low price and proximity to Lake Shore Dr, the food is only average. I ate there twice having a burger and a philly. The philly was decent but the burger, well... let's say it made me whimsical of backyard BBQs; cheap bun and patty was over-cooked. I will say however that their fries are decent.

The food here remains alright for greasy spoon grub. Haute cuisine, it ain't -- much of it is processed or precooked -- but it'll do in a pinch. Greater care has to be taken to keep the johns clean. May I suggest hourly inspections with cleanings as necessary? I still like the guys working here; they're good people.

Flamingo is a very unique place given it's location and reasonable prices. It's only 2 doors down from my office which makes it very convenient for me - especially in February! It's got character - the guys who run it are friendly. The food is your basic large menu diner fare w/ a Mexican twist. The atmosphere is pretty basic but suits the menu & prices just fine. There's even a cute little full bar in the back. It's an interesting spot next to a mani/pedi salon and Streeterville Properties. I grab carryout and bring it back to the office. The breakfast is good and the portions are toooo generous, especially the hash browns. My GOD they give you so many it's insane! I have never been able to finish anything from Flamingo because the portions are so huge. So if you're in the neighborhood, feelin casual, HUNGRY, in a hurry and want to save a few $$$$$ this is the place. P.S. I have heard their ribs are the best - I would never guess they served ribs let alone that they were the best! A lot of guys who work in the area have raved.. Check em out and yelp it!

Flamingo grill is a typical fried greasy restaurant. Where if you want something that can be fried, or is typically at a restaurant that specializes in frying then this place can do it. I enjoy their grilled ham and cheese sandwich because it is huge. In realty this place is really more three stars than four. The reason why it received an extra star is because it's relatively cheap, with a combo you can get beer or soda, delicious fries, and it's very close to home. So when I'm lazy it is there to save me.

*YUMMY TACOS Y BURRITOS *JARRITOS SODA *LOCATION *FRIENDLY *FULL BAR * I've only had their tacos and burritos and they are very good considering it's a burger type restaurant. (I'm from LA so Mexican food has a special place in my heart :P ) This place has sooo much potential~! If i could I would highlight their mexican food and stay open a bit longer (late night taco craving). They probably wanted to make it family friendly and cater to Navy Pier tourists passing by. But since i've never seen this place busy I think they need to switch it up. The workers and owner are Latinos, and I just wish that they would go with their roots cuz there are enough hot dog/burger spots in Chicago. Prices are decent as well :)

I really appreciate places like this in town, especially downtown, but just enough to give it 3 stars. It's your typical burger and fires, Polish, gyro, ribs, burrito, fish, pizza and a bar type place. The menu has just about everything but most if it is fried or grilled, so you know how you are going to feel afterward. CNDs has a better atmosphere and is closer to me, so I'll probably just head back there for grease and beer.

It's after Bike the Drive. We just rode 18 miles. I needed to drop off my bike at Bobby's. We were hungry. My friend had a time crunch (conference call on Sunday). There was a parking spot with 54 minutes on it half a block away. This confluence of events drove us to Flamingo. It's not bad. Kinda dinerish with a little fast food flair followed up with a full bar and an ice cream freezer. Plus, the prices were great! If you are looking for a greasy spoon type of place with no table service (saves some $$) close to Navy Pier, check it out. The big screen TV is it for decor, but sometimes that's all it takes. Oh. I had the eggs sunny side up until I saw that the white part wasn't cooked so he flipped'em over easy, side o'hash browns, and some nasty coffee (stay away from the coffee!!). Overall, pretty good. (It's 3 stars for me because it wasn't the cleanest place even though it is a dive)
