I'm usually not a fan of bar food. Something about drunk guys yelling at tv screens is not cool. This place is different, not only is everyone really nice inside, staff and customers, but their food is really amazing. Grilled Chicken, Hamburgers, and their fried mac and cheese, and pretzel bites are very, very good. Full bar, and they have some local selections. The staff is very good, and you find them enjoying the games on the tvs as much as you are.

Man, the food used to be pretty solid at this place. Key words = end used to. The owner and wait staff are nice enough, but the appeal of decent food and cheap beer is gone. Beers that used to cost $3.00 now cost $6.00. Food portions are smaller ad made with lower quality ingredients. On the flip side, there are some new additions to the menu which aren't bad like the tacos. They also have quite a few tv's for game watching. Overall though, it's just not worth it anymore.

Finley Dunnes was recommended by a co-worker for their tasty wings and their 20 cent wing special on Tuesday. So this past Tuesday some friends and I made it out to Finley Dunnes. Yep the 20 cent wing special was going on along with $3.50 Sam Adams. When we walked in it wasn't packed but there was a decent amount of people there. Over all the bar is pretty chill, sort of sports dive bar. The four of us ordered 12 hot wings and 12 chicago fire wings. We also ordered the mac & cheese bites, mini taquitos and a basket of fries. The hot wings were great, but I think I liked the fire ones better. They weren't too spicy that you couldn't eat them but it had some heat that stayed around for awhile. The wings were really good but not the best I had... not sure if they could hold thier own at the Chicago Wing Fest. With the mac & cheese bites I wasn't sure what they were going to be but they rocked! Finley Dunnes Tavern is definitely a place I'll be back to again

Home the craziest 2005 Whitesox ALCS party in the city. Get the Ryan Burger!

This place rocks. Nate the bartender is super cool. Great specials on Wednesdays. Ryan burger is just ok but we come here for Nate!!

Okay, i checked out this place based on another Yelper's answer when i was looking for a place to watch playoff hockey. This was the perfect spot. No trouble finding a seat, and the waitress and bartender wereboth incredibly nice. We had a large rowdy group with us, and they were more than tolerant. Rowdy White Sox fans, rowdy Cubs fans.....everyone got along. My NJ Devils lost, so it was very important my glass remain full. And that it did. They have LaBatts and they also have decent red wine, which was great. Parking is easy...just a nice easy going tavern with decent food. I had the grilled chicken salad, and it was great. Definitely will go back. Just wish it was stumbling distance from my house.

My girlfriend suggested we have lunch at this place on a Saturday and she said they had really good burgers. WOW! We went during a Louisville football game going on (alumni all over the bar). I had the burger that was on garlic french bread and it was exactly what I was looking for for lunch. I recommned this place to anyone and I could've stayed there all day.

This is the best bar...especially sports bar...I've been to in Chicago. I used to live a few blocks from it and be in there all the time. The owner Joe is great and ensures that the place is clean and is run well. The food is great, especially the wings, burgers, and fried macaroni and cheese bites...yum. The service has always been amazing. It's the Cheers of Lakeview/Roscoe Village. If you haven't been there, it's your loss. I miss it so much now that we are in the burbs. I go back as much as I can. Catch a game there one day or night and you'll always go back!

So after asking the DJ, who apparently was not the hires/being paid DJ (a "friend" filling in as it was the Hired DJ's birthday) to change the music that fits the Finley crowds tastes preferred. We left. Heard there is new management, perhaps, one of the owners should come in to see what the patrons prefer when it comes to music.

This is another one of those places that I discovered as a direct result of college friends moving to chicago before me. Again, this is fantastic little neighboorhood bar that I go to on a semi-regular basis. The staff is all very nice and attentive. The wing night is tuesday and they are solid. They play tons of sports on TV and have plenty of different games on at once. This is great spot to watch March Madness as you will have a ton of different schools represented in the crowd and with flags on the walls and ceiling. You can also get your college hockey fix here....if you're into that sort of thing.....which I am. As far as what to order, the Ryan burger is to die for and the fries are delicious. If you're feeling frisky, I would recommend to tell your bartender you'd like a "shock and awe." You will be given a car bomb and jaegerbomb to throw down back-to-back.

Ah, Finley Dunnes..........always have a good time when I go. Love the 2 big round tables by the front window if you have a large group, or they have those blocks of tables in the middle for a smaller group! The bartenders always are friendly and take care of us when we come in. Never tried the food, but i heard it isn't bad! Just come to catch the games and drink. Good size flat screens all over the place to watch your games, good juke box.....and the walk to the men's washroom down that hall...........that's the hard part! oh well! Came here last night, drank, bombed out..............stumbled out! Good times! Make it a Fernando's/Finley Dunnes Night!

I originally gave Finley Dunne's 5 stars because I'm a UD alum, and it would feel wrong not to. Now, I'm pretty sure that the 5 stars would stand even if I hadn't gone to UD. That said, there are cheeeeeep beers and awesome wings (20 cents on Tuesdays!), which makes this place very ok in my book. Any bar that has wing specials makes me smile, and the fact that it's a Dayton alumni bar is just icing on the cake. The Ryan burger is nothing short of incredible. I could eat one of those every day of my life and not get tired of it. It's really really simple - beef, cheese, and garlic bread. No veggies, just awesome. The owner is a class act. He's also a huge college hockey fan, and makes sure to have at least one of the tv's turned to hockey during the season, even if March Madness is happening. Most excellent. Also, I'm a sucker for bars with popcorn machines. Good job, UD. You picked a fabulous alumni bar.

This has been one of our favorite neighborhood bars for years. Joe always makes sure that people are having a great time! They actually care about customers here and have a large following of regulars. FDs is one of the best in the city!

A nice local bar with $3 Shiner Boks. Comfortable and easy to spend time here. Sports and college-themed, it should be an old standby.

There isn't much not to like about Finley Dunne's. It's a great neighborhood sports bar. Basically lived here for the Hawks Stanley Cup as they are an official Blackhawks bar. Tons of tvs including a massive beauty right above the bar. The staff is awesome especially the owner Joe and all the servers are super friendly and attentive. The food is also really solid and yes the Ryan burger is incredible. Without question my favorite sports bar in the roscoe village, north center, and west lakeview area. Oh and they have the best bathroom poster ever in the men's "The Urinals of Ireland". That's good stuff. So if you're looking for a great place to watch sports without the disaster that is Wrigleyville head west and check out FDs.

This is a great neighborhood bar, with great fresh food options and friendly staff. The Ryan burger is fantastic, but so are the mac and cheese bites and the grilled cheese. Not living anywhere near here, we try and stop in at least one a month, if not more. Great for watching a game, or hanging out with friends.

OK OK... $15 for a Coors bucket. Maybe to Chad, Brad, and Trista thats a bangin' deal, but to me it's not. Put it this way if you like poppin' your collar, domestic violence, and drinking Miller Lite then add 3 stars to this review. Otherwise forget about it. I won't completely dis the place though. They did have free popcorn and i heard the food is good, but I'm not going back to find out. So Chad, Brad, and Trista can keep Finley Dunnes and ill go to Johnny's across the street and enjoy a 16oz Czech beer for a finsky.

Ordinarily I would turn my haughty nose up at places with this many big screens. HOWEVER, I've managed to get sucked into the Stanley Cup Playoffs and after my anti-yelp boyfriend did some research on Centerstage we decided this would be that place to watch the game. Was it ever! They even turned off their shitty bar radio station (which was playing Kelly Clarkson when we walked in) so we could hear the Detroit Red Wings vs. Nashville Big Pussies game. D-town was well represented that afternoon which made the win ever more enjoyable. Our girl was great ( I love calling female servers "girls" even if it might be derogatory. It's what my grandparents say.) She was so attentive that there was never a lull between one drink and the next - which made for a very drunken afternoon as you might imagine. They also get points for having a full menu. All the classic bar apps are represented - might I recommend the jalapeno poppers? Oh and I dunno about the guys' bathroom, but the girls' bathroom as got some awesome soap.

The staff at Finley Dunne's has been very helpful in putting together a couple of alumni events for my Alma Mater WMU. I've never had the food but I am sure it is pretty standard bar fare. The place is rarely crowded and does not seem to attract the Trixie Crowd or the Cubs crown which makes it a decent place to go tie one on in peace. The prices are competitive with other Lakeview watering holes.

  • Kymberly S.

This bar is great in that I feel like I'm not in Chicago. It has kept an old hometown feel to it. Came here and ordered a couple appetizers, which were great. Food is a bit cheaper than most places around but menu is limited to mostly fried appetizers, wings and burgers which is to be expected on a true bar menu. Service has always been good, however cocktails could use a bit more booze in them.

  • Jon B.

Needed a place to watch a Detroit Red Wings game because Verses decided Nascar would be better to show, this place did not disappoint. Great beer on tap (Bell's and Magic Hat to name a few), and it's about the only place in Chicago where you can wear a Wings jersey and not have to worry about getting into a fight. Lots of TV's and the audio is on for the games.

Wow...Went in last Monday to grab a cold one and to hang with the family after work...I was also super hungry...AND then I found out they had half priced sandwiches on Mondays evenings...AND THEN WE FOUND out they have QUIZ night on Mondays as well! Needless to say we were SUPER happy! I ordered their brat (Which is a Paulina Meat Market brat)...They soak it in Guiness...YUM! If you ever need to find me on Monday nights - You may as well hit me up at FInley Dunnes! Cheers!

  • Sarah C.

This place is such a great neighborhood place! Everyone who works there is great. They have recently established a Trivia Night on Mondays that is awesome! The questions aren't too easy or too hard. The emcee is very funny and Marty the bartender makes the perfect straight man, allowing many jokes at his expense with a smile. They have $15 buckets of bud light on Mondays, and the Ryan burger is about as good as bar food can get.

    (5)
  • Fitz W.

I always have a great time here. Marty, who is almost always behind the bar, knows everyones name and is quick with the drinks. Joe, the owner, is also always there and usually buys drinks for customers he knows or sees regularly. Food here is pretty good and very reasonably priced. I usually go on tuesdays on 20 cent wing night. The wings are huge and the Chicago Fire sauce is good and spicy. And if you're a sports fan, they have all of the sports packages and everything is in HD on at least 6 flat screen tvs. If the game you want to watch is not on a tv, they always will change one of the tvs too. Great place!

This place is as good as it gets. Living on the east coast, I make it a point to stop in when in town for business and bring as many people as possible. Free popcorn, sports and the food are excellent (and as someone mentioned earlier, the bathrooms are always clean). We've used the private room in back for business lunches. Great place to get work done in a casual atmosphere. I love being the person who turns new people on to the best kept secret in Chicago!

  • Jill K.

This bar IS Chicago. Nothing fancy - just cold beer and great service. They have all the games and never hesitate to change the channel if you ask. Food is standard bar food, but it's better and cheaper than other places. I love this place!!

    (5)
  • Ryan L.

Vey friendly service. They will find whatever sporting event you are looking for. When I was in there I noticed the owner or manger, Joe, searching for some randomn college hockey game that one person wanted to watch. Once he found it he even put the sound on for him in the back room. The main bar had others watching a college football game. You don' get that kind of treatment at most places. Great bar food and a lot of beers to choose from. I have noticed they do put a few seasonal ones on tap. I recommend this place for anyone looking to hang out have a few drinks and watch some sports.

  • Joanna B.

Warm, friendly bar. Get a burger if you go here. I can't remember what they call it, but their signature burgers are fantastic. As with any food, it tastes better when you eat it there. I've ordered it to go and by the time it got home it wasn't as warm and therefore not as good. But it really is a great burger. When i'm craving one i like to go to this place.

  • Lakeview G.

Big fan of this place. The atmosphere is casual, the bartenders are friendly and the beer is cold. What more can you ask for in a sports bar. Free popcorn and big TVs? Yeah, they have those too. It's the little things that make this the place to go in the neighborhood. Tuesday is $0.20 wing night. You can't go wrong. Marty is the BEST!!

Finleys has always been good to me...as far as service, food and staff. its become a small yet comfy hang out with great food. the ryan burger is incredible, and the staff always takes care of you. spent a night there catching up with an old college friend and the manager went out of his way for us as we suffered through a 18 inning college baseball game til 1am on a Monday. who does that? although located by an ex flame who I don't see that much the desire to make finleys my new go to bar may win out over love scorned. in any event great place to drink, watch sports (theres even a backroom) or listen to music and chill for the night. plus theres free popcorn!!!

  • Michael P.

Love Finley Dunnes. The only negative isn't really something they can control, unless they turn away business, and that is not a realistic thing to expect. This place blows when organized groups come in. For some reason, there have been a number of group events involving kids. Teens. Lilttle kids. This is a neighborhood bar, not a Chuck E. Cheese. I am not going to go out of my way to be rude to make a point, nor am I going to walk on eggs in a bar. At one point, I said "Dammit" about something, and some dad came over and told me to watch my mouth in front of his kids. I suggested he find a more appopriate locale for a child-inclusive outing. Now for the good: -Beer list is one of the better in Lakeview. Definitely plenty of options. -Like every other review has mentioned, free popcorn. -The wings are damn good. Good-sized, great sauces, especially the garlic parm. -The rest of the menu is good. Nothing to come here for especially, but everything I have had has been solid. -Plenty of TVs, and they are good about putting at least one on the game you want to see. -Clean bathrooms. -Back room available for fantasy football drafts. -Good drink specials. There are always a couple things that actually are a good deal and that you actually want. -Keith. -Right by the Paulina brown line stop.

Stopped by for a late dinner. Me, wife, and 8 year old daughter. As usual, my daughter got the chicken fingers. My wife got a quesadilla and I got the Rysn burger. I haven't been here in years as I've moved away, and it is the first time I've eaten here. Food was great, service was friendly. We'd come back for sure.

Hole in the wall local spot. We came here on Friday to watch the Bulls game with a group of about 6. They have free darts and free popcorn to pass the time. The drinks and beer are decently priced, the food is actually pretty good, and the service is great. You can get your beer in plastic cups and they let you keep the cups if you want. This is the perfect spot for a low key hangout with friends.

    (4)
  • Natalia K.

Super chill place with friendly bartenders. A bunch of us came in here after a bachelorette party, with our own cups made for the party, and they humored us and filled up our cups with whatever we ordered. Great popcorn and music. I don't remember everything, but what I remember was good!

  • Justin B.

If you're looking for a good value, low-key sports bar, you could do a lot worse than Finley Dunne's. Food is very good for basic bar fare and the staff is always friendly. The owner is often around and a nice guy. There are some regulars who are a bit entitled and annoying, but that's hardly the bars fault. Decent amount of screens so you can watch a game from pretty much anywhere in the bar.

    (4)
  • Ruben R.

There's something wrong with this place... they have great beer AND great food. I've never been to a place that had amazingly good food and good beer. There has to be something for me to complain about but I can't find it. Further research is needed. The breakfast burrito is amazing!

One of my favorite all-time bars! If you're a fan of the Blackhawks then you're in luck! Finley Dunnes Tavern is an *OFFICIAL* NHL sponsored bar to show Blackhawks games. Every one of the staff members are friendly, professional, and incredibly personable. Each time I go there I feel like I'm a part of the Finley Dunnes family. Also, great food! Be sure to try their Ryan burger.

I hosted a private event for my staff & their family in the backroom of the tavern. We had fruit salad, veggie tray, wings, fiesta rolls, mini burgers, meatballs, and pizza. All of the food was fresh and delicious. Server Amanda was very friendly, attentive, and accurate in taking orders for beverages or requests that I had. Manager Keith was very friendly and easy to work with in coordinating for the event. When I told my staff we were having the event here, they were all very excited, so you can assume this is like 10 Yelp reviews in one. Thanks FD, and we'll be back!

This place has so much to brag about but what keeps us coming back is the service. There are plenty of places in the neighborhood to spend your hard earned cash but it is nice to feel like a regular even if you've only been here a few times. The bar food is solid and beer selection is pretty good too. This is our spot for all major sporting events, an especially hard day at work and late night celebrations of life events.

Joe Kenny knows everyone by name and says hello to everyone! He could not be a nicer guy and I'm happy to support nice bar owners. The waitresses are usually nice, but spend most of their time being friendly with each other vs the customers. But I still go back each time I'm in Chicago for the laid back atmosphere, TV's everywhere and the Ryan Burger. And ps, it is super casual/comfortable.....I think I've been in on a Friday night in yoga pants and a hoodie.

Very friendly wait staff. I always leave with a smile on my face. Also, their 25c wings on Thursdays are top notch deals with a delicious BBQ flavor. Finley Dunnes makes for a wonderful neighborhood bar.

How do I love thee Finley Dunnes? Let me count the ways: *Best Hawks bar in the city, hands down. Lively crowd, great staff, sound ON, and they play great stuff like Slap Shot during the intermissions. *Joe is a fabulous owner. The bar took a bunch of bar patrons on a party bus to a Sox game and spent some time talking to him. He's a truly great guy and it shows in the bar. *Keith is also the man and it's a sad evening when he isn't working a Hawks game. He always keeps things fun and supplies me the shots when HolyHossa scores. *Other staff - never had a bad experience with anyone at the bar. I'm always impressed with watching the ladies handle so many tables and navigate the crowds on busy nights. *Food - delicious and reasonably priced. They get some of the meat from Paulina Market so you can have a dog wrapped in bacon. Pizzas must be ordered with both pepperoni and bacon, and I love the pretzels that come with both cheese and cinnamon butter as dipping choices. My boyfriend loves the Ryan burger. *Beer - good tap selection with a mix of regular and craft. There's always a beer of the month that is $4...this month is Leinie Summer Shandy which makes me very very happy. *Popcorn - free popcorn, fresh popped in the corner. Don't miss it. *Finley regulars - the bar is always full of fun people to chat with. I've gotten travel advice for Ireland and met a fellow Texan transplant.

We have heard about finleys, and finally stopped in. Great bar, awesome staff and the only place to watch a Hawks game besides the UC. Loved the fire wings and the veggie flat bread.

I've been busted. Finley Dunne's server, Carrie, called me out for my 3-star Yelp review. If I bring my improv team there every single Thursday for orange whips and 25-cent wings, how can I deliver anything less than a superior rating? At Finley Dunne's you get... ... free popcorn. ... excellent service (as long as Carrie is there. She's the best server in the city.) ... cheap, usually good chicken wings on Thursdays. ... a usually low-key, chilled atmosphere. ... coat hooks (an underrated, but necessary convenience in winter). Now, I have been to Finley Dunne's on nights when it's packed to the rafters. In that case, you might as well stand on the corner of Lincoln & Cornelia and hope for food and beer to come by. The place can be woefully understaffed at times. (If you walk in and see a corporate party, leave immediately.) Oh, and they changed their Orange Whip recipe to a very sad concoction. I weep for this. I am there almost every week, and I wouldn't come back if it hadn't earned a 4-star place in my heart. We cool, Carrie?

As I sit in here on Thursday, drinking my $2 High Life, I quickly come to a realization. Aside from being the absolute storybook, neighborhood tavern, Keith and crew serve up the best wings I've had in this city to date. And, being Thursday, they are on special. Come in for the brotherly service, welcoming environment, and killer food.

  • Kris G.

This is the best wing deal in the city, in my opinion. I've been to other 25 cent wing places and the wings are nowhere near as good as at Finley. When we first walked in, it definitely felt like we were walking into somebody else's bar, there are clearly regulars here. However, the waitstaff is very friendly and didn't make us feel weird about it. Also, they were always there when we needed more wings or drinks, but never overbearing. The wings are the only food I've had at Finley, but I love them and wouldn't doubt the rest of the food is great, too. The wings come in a mild flavor, hot, chicago fire (definitely not the spiciest around, but pretty sufficient heat for your average wing eater), and barbeque. We go for barbeque and Chicago Fire every time. The space is deceptively large and there are coat hooks under the bar tables, which is great. There used to be a photo booth here, but sadly it is now gone. The only reason I dock this place a star is because every time I've been here, whichever two drinks I order first are always out or no longer on the menu. So it's hit or miss with the drinks and no real standouts on the drink list except for the deals. Come and have 10 wings...or twenty...or...50 (yep, I've done it). That and a couple beers will set you back only $20. This place rocks.

  • Dan D.

$2 Rolling Rocks every day. "Tavern" is your typical neighborhood spot. I'm here almost every week. Sometimes twice. The waitresses here are nice, and can get pretty chatty. The food is really good, especially for bar food. The drinks are cheap, and the vibe is real chill. I feel like Tavern can serve many purposes. If you're into sports, the place can get crowded during certain sporting events. If you want to chill & just hang out, it can be pretty empty so you can just enjoy some food and drinks while hanging out with your friends.

  • Anthony M.

We have been here twice in the last couple of weeks and have had two great experiences. Nate the bartender/chef is really good. He not only has time to keep our beers coming, but he makes our food and then even has time to chat and talk about sports or current events. He gets 5 stars for multi-tasking. For Appetizers I highly recommend the Jalapeno Cheese Sticks...I know that this stuff is just deep fried but it is not your typically Jalapeno Popper or Cheese Stick...it is like if those two Apps hooked up and had a crazy night of deep fryer fun and then 9 months later the Jalapeno Cheese Sticks showed up on the menu. Don't take my word for it...you need to try them for yourself. The tap beer is nice and they have some good specials too. They will also let you have a little sample too before you committ to one of the new brews that they are pouring. A couple of times that has saved me from making a big pint mistake. We also had the Ryan Burger too which was highly recommended to us. It was really good...burger came on a french roll and was perfectly cooked with some nice grilled onions...red grilled onions which are nice and tasty too. I almost forgot that this place has TV's and TV's placed at every possible angle...there is not a bad spot in the bar...maybe I havent found it yet. I hate going to a bar that has like two TV's and you spend the whole game watching it from 40 feet away while looking through someone's head. You are not going to have that problem here. So high marks are having TV's...umm this is a bar and people love to drink and watch sports!!! My only negative is that this place does not open until 4pm during the week...Friday it does open early which is nice...so you can get your drink on for the weekend.

I think I've found my new favorite bar. I can't tell you how many times I've driven past Finley Dunnes and thought to myself "I should stop in there one day"...it looks like the kind of dive-y place I'm drawn to. Finally, a few weeks ago, I took the plunge. The exterior is unassuming, blink and you'll miss it...but the inside is something you'll never forget. Friendly waitresses and bartenders, FREE popcorn, a rockin' grilled cheese sandwich, and all the sports on TV you could ever want....yea, this place is good. Its so good, in fact, that since I first stopped in 3 weeks ago I've already been back twice! Thursdays are awesome because they have 25 cent wings...and really good 25 cent wings at that. They have every sports package imaginable so if there's a game you're looking to watch I'm sure they will be able to accommodate you here. In the words of Toby Keith, "I love this bar"!

Whoever decided to put a half-pound burger on garlic bread should be given some kind of award. The Ryan burger is where it's at, and when paired with some tater tots and a chilly brew, you can't go wrong. Their beer list is great and their daily specials are also real good (check their website for the details). They have a special drink and food menu for Hawks games as FD's proclaims they are a "Blackhawks Bar." Lots of TVs to catch the action on the ice and fast service to ensure you aren't without indulgences for too long. Wednesday is the best night, $5 Ryan burgers and $3.50 pint drafts.

Went in Thursday to try the 25cent wings with a date, before heading over to the Vic & I can't review them cuz I never got a chance to try them. We arrived to about six ppl @ the bar & two occupied tables(less than 15)but yet didn't see our server until seated for about ten mins.(full disclosure the only reason I gave them two stars is because she was friendly yet overwhelmed, only one working the floor and the fried mac and cheese) Now y no other stars....... -The wait time for the wings seemed long,no one in the place was eating, unless they arrived moments bfore(they didn't cuz I smoked outside for about ten mins before we went in) -The volume was up for the football game(colts/jags?),okay but the hometown basketball team was playing a national televised game & was on just one t.v. -THE CAPPER..... My date ordered a speciality drink called an a.m.f. which the menu says comes in a 32oz glass, the server returns wit a dark blue drink in a pint glass when I point it out she takes it back, the bartender(overweight, pale short guy) comes from the other end of the bar stops her while making the drink(I overheard something to the effect of that's more than double) he & her exchange words, she stops let's him prepare the drink when she returns with a mini pitcher full of ice(& several lemon slices) and now the drink is light blue. After tasting nothing but carbonation I'm ready to bounce. My date says we came for the wings let's stay & I tell her if they can't make their own $8 speciality drink right, how much quality can there be in 25cent wings. So I did the only thing a paying customer can do to express displeasure I left the change(coins) as a tip

Went in there with a group of about 10 and were able to score a table in the corner during the final "Sweet Sixteen" weekend (Whew!). I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleased to find Angry Orchard cider on the menu. The prices were decent and the beer choices are plentiful. Even though the bar was packed, our waitress was always near and offered to charge each of us separately (which can be a nightmare). All in all, it was a great way to end the group outing and begin some Saturday night fun!

Great sports bar and neighborhood watering hole! Friendly staff and can't miss prices. Food is spectacular.

Classic neighborhood bar. It just doesn't get better than Finelys. The fact that I know the names of the servers and mangers that work there is proof on how cool Finley's is. Allegra, Jessica and of course Nick are all awesome staff that help make this bar as awesome as it is. I first came here on $0.25 wing Thursdays. Wow. Those wings are the best and not just because of that unreal price. $2 Rolling Rock and free popcorn! Too many good things to say about Finley Dunnes, just too many.

We LOVE this place!!! It's our go-to Blackhawks' bar when the boys are on the road. In a bar where the Hawks come first, It feels like we never miss a game.....pregame videos, goal horn and Chelsea Dagger all included. And, a definite must, the game sound is on the entire time! There's nothing worse than watching the game and not being able to hear a thing other than someone's terrible picks on the jukebox. As for food, we've never been disappointed...Ryan burger, Tang burger, Patty Melt...all very good. And the wings...Fan-freaking-tastic! They're even better on Thursday for $ .25. Plus, there's free popcorn! Beer selection is pretty darn good too. Drafts, bottles and specialty beers. What more could you ask for? The wait staff is ideal. Ashley, Carrie and Megan have always been great! And the owner, Joe, goes out of his way to make sure you're taken care of. This place makes you feel welcomed and appreciated. They're always happy to see you walk through the door. Bonus---They have purse/coat hooks under the bar and tables, which in my opinion is a must at any bar. There's nothing more frustrating than dragging your heavy winter coat to the bar only to find there's no place to put it.

I was lured to this place as opposed to my regular Tuesday night stomping-ground by the promise of 20 cent buffalo wings. That's 5 cents less than my normal place! I was down with that. The wings were good. Not quite as saucy as I would have liked, and the "medium" is quite mild, but they were good. Some of the wings even looked like they came from giant, slightly deformed mutant chickens. if you like spicy wings, you might go straight for the "hot". the beer selection was decent, but reasonably small. The price on the beers was comparable to similar places, but a tad on the high side. The service was good and pretty attentive (which it should be considering that the place was pretty empty). The music is from a TouchTunes jukebox. they have a Golden Tee and a bowling game. The sports on the large TVs was college basketball. It seems they show a lot of sports there. They also have free popcorn, and there is apparently a party room in the back. It's smack in the middle between the Paulina and Addison Brown Line stops so it's pretty easy to get to.

Another great Lincoln Avenue bar. This place is a proud Black hawk bar. it has a very college vibe and like Hinky Dinks it has a narrow private part in the back. Not much of a beer selection like some of the places not too far from it. Close to the brown line so you don't have to worry about getting drunk and driving.

This place was pretty cool. Came here to watch a hockey game with friends. Had the fries. Good Fries but they serve it with basically gas station nacho cheese. I guess it is a bar so what do u expect? But when they said "cheese fries" on the menu... I assumed actual cheese would be on mah fries. I didn't stay quite long enough to evaluate the regulars because basically the whole bar was filled with my acquaintance's friends who were all there to watch the game. Not really my vibe, but great service.

I've been going to Finley Dunnes since shortly after moving here in 2007. They have all of the sports packages (MLB Extra Innings, NHL Center Ice, NFL Sunday Ticket and so on.) I started going there to watch Mets and Rangers games. Through my many stops there, I got to know several of the staff and even Joe the owner. Each person was always friendly and accommodating when we'd ask for a certain sporting event to be put on one of the TVs. They have a good selection of beer on draft and in the bottle. The food is pretty good too. I love that you can get a pizza at pretty much any time of the night and their wings are some of my favorite. A note for the ladies: they have one of the cleanest bathrooms of any Chicago bar I have ever been to!

I stopped in here last night after realizing that Fizz has the worst customer service and food on the block. As soon as we walked in, the vibe was instantly better. We were greeted with a smiling bartender who took great care of us all night. He informed us that the kitchen had just shut down but offered a few appetizer items that he could make and then went out of his way to make us pretzel bites, which was so kind of him. The pretzel bites were so good! He took care of us all night and just seemed very natural at what he was doing. There is definitely a welcoming atmosphere to Finley Dunnes. I am definitely going to stop in here again soon!

I really like this bar. I know a lot of people who went to the University of Dayton and come here often. I attended their Christmas party last year and this year and had a blast both times. There was a raffle, $30 wrist band for beers for like 3 hours, and flip cup tournaments in the back. Every time I come here I have a great time.

the food here ain't all that. but they are super friendly and accommodating for my wife's alumni group to watch the games there and the owner is a real laid back nice guy

I came here to catch up with some old college buddies that I hadn't seen in a while and this was a great spot to do so. The bar is kind of a typical neighborhood sports pub with lots of seats and plenty of beers to choose from. I went on a $3.50 Goose Island 312 special night, which was a pretty good price for a Friday night with friends in the city. We had a pretty good time, and kept picking out old songs on the juke box to reminisce around. The bartenders were extremely nice and helpful, and the waitress came by very often to clear our tables and and ask us how we were doing. My friends did order some food, which they said was "good, but not great" and I stole one of my friend's fried mac and cheese bites, which was tastefully artery-clogging. They also have free popcorn, which is nice, but every once in a while a batch would come out kind of salty. The area it's in (Lakeview) is pretty nice, there's plenty of parking, and there's a couple of Brown Line stops nearby to catch the train and walk on over. Seemed like a nice neighborhood pub to watch sports and hang out with friends.

Went here for an Ole Miss viewing party. Hotty Toddy! Anyway, I had the mini corn dogs because I had just run a 5K and thought they sounded delicious. I was right. So good! I also ordered their beer of the month...Shiner Bock Octoberfest...it was in a 32oz mug for $8 and it was delicious. Husband had a burger (and the beer) and he said it was ok, typical bar burger, but the fries were tasty. Ole Miss lost, but I'd say Finley Dunnes is a winner!

Love this place! Nice small bar feel. Friendly staff and owner. Great wings and other tasty options. Nice venue to watch Bears and big Blackhawks fans!

This place is very unassuming from the outside (see: "tavern" sign outfront), but a great neighborhood sports bar with a friendly atmosphere on the inside. Definitely an excellent place to watch sports, as they have all the packages and are flexible with televisions, sound, etc...Never had an unpleasant waitress, great trivia on monday nights, and a nice room in the back if you have a larger group. The food isn't gourmet, but rather above average barfare. Overall, I highly recommend Finley Dunnes to watch a game or to meet up with some friends for a laidback night on the town...

Goddammit, I want EVERY bar to be Finley Dunne's. Tasty food (the Ryan burger is amazing). Cheap drink. Lots of options for beer AND liquor. And a really nice staff. Add to that, the fact that it's not solely lit by TV's, and it's never too loud that you can't have a conversation with someone. Maybe it's good that they're a little bit of a walk from my house - otherwise I'd be spending all my money there.

The Ryan burger is good, the fries better, the Hawks rule, and the Tang Pizza is absolutely the best!!!!

I have been going to this place for years, and I just love it. It is such a great neighborhood bar, and the staff has always been super friendly. I recently moved to the suburbs, and my husband and I have tried in vain to recreate the Chicken Tang Pizza. It is the perfect bar food on a chilly fall football day. I used to be able to walk down the street to Finley Dunnes, but now it's worth it to drive to the city when I really crave this pizza and the Ryan Burger. Yum!!!

We recently moved here & we were looking for a "home bar" in our neighborhood . After a recommendation from a friend we decided to try Finley Dunnes. Upon entering we realized its an " official Blackhawks Bar". What better place to watch sports at ? We love the bartenders Keith & Nick & unfortunately I am unsure of the other bartenders / bar backs name but he also works @ the front door . ( Dan?) They always keep everyone fired up about the game ! We love the chants and the music ! I'm always impressed when the owner Joe takes time out to say hello & welcome us . You must try the soft pretzels and the pizza ! Both very good! There is also a popcorn machine, which is an added bonus to our favorite place in Chicago !!!!!!! IF YOU LIKE BARS WITH FUN , FRIENDLY PEOPLE & A HOMEY FEEL TO IT .....look no further . This is the place! We LOVE this place!

This is the perfect place for you if you're looking for a place that will never EVER cut you off and you want to pass out on the floor drunk as a skunk. I was in here a few nights ago with some friends, and let me tell you folks, this place is a dive! Within the 45 minutes that I was here, my friend saw a girl trying to pee in the drain on the bathroom floor, 5 minutes later to take a dive and bust her ass while just sitting. Then there was the girl who had no idea whatsoever where she was and kept trying to kiss random people. As far as I'm concerned, I'll never go back here, but hey, that's just me.

Finley Dunne's doesn't look like much on the outside. Hell, it doesn't look like much on the inside, either. But it's a pretty straightforward, no frills sports bar. If you like this kind of establishment, you'll be fine here. And even if you don't, you'll probably still be ok, because I think it takes a lot to hate this place. A respectable enough selection of draughts and bottled beers, free popcorn, and a fair pub grub menu keep Finley Dunne's alright. But it's really what FD's is missing that keeps it kosher. It's a Lakeview sports bar where the patrons have grown up just enough to keep you from losing your shit. The crowd's mostly late 20s and early 30s, and they've moved on and mellowed from their somewhat heyday elsewhere in Lakeview and Lincoln Park. This bar they've adopted is relaxed enough to call this part of town home.

So my rating of Finley Dunnes is totaly biased based on the fact that I am a UD alum and it is the UD alumni bar in Chicago. The atmosphere at FD during a Flyers game makes an alum feel like they are back at UD watching the game at one of the bars. It is a little piece of Dayton in Chicago. Even if you aren't an alum, if you go to FD during a Flyers game, you are bound to meet plenty of friendly people. Outside of Flyers games, the bar is very laid back and a nice cheap place to go away from the over crowded bars in the area. I would definatley stop in FD next time you are in the area, Flyer faithful or not.

Finley Dunnes and I go back a few years....they were the first bar to sponsor our softball team. Sadly, they did not sponsor us the years to follow but we still hold much love for F.D. They have great cheese fries, mac n cheese bites, Ryan burger and I always enjoy the grilled chicken sandwich. I think their food is pretty solid for bar food. Also, they have free popcorn (always a bonus) and hooks under the tables to hang your jacket or purse (love that). We miss you Finley Dunnes...even though you have shunned our team...we still come back for more....

Finley Dunnes? This place is about as Irish as Shaquille O'Neal. The one thing that stood out most about this place is that they may have Chicago's most extensive collection of piss-grade beer. Bud, Bud light, Bud light lime, Bud light amber ale, Miller, Miller genuine draft, Miller highlife, Miller Lite, Miller 64... Impressive in quantity of low quality... but if you look past that you'd notice they also have a good number of good beers as well- Duvel, Rogue & Blue Moon on tap... As I heard, this is a pretty good place to watch hockey. Even on the Red Wings/Black Hawks' off-night, the Penguins/Hurricanes game was playing on the enormous central TV (maybe 36" x 24"?), though the volume was off. I sat between a rascal whose sense of humor didn't improve with alcohol saturation, and (fortunately) a good conversationalist with ties to northeast hockey. Such is the nature of the barstool lottery. There were just a handful of people watching, and the rascal made the mistake of insulting the Detroit Red Wings. "You don't know a thing about hockey," the bartender reminded him. He made another moronic comment; "you can't name one person on the roster," the bartender successfully challenged him. Just then I noticed the bartender was wearing a Red Wings hat. Wait, Red Wings? In Chicago? Well, the North Side does have a huge Michiganese population. This for sure is a safe haven for them, and for anyone who likes hockey. No haters allowed.

Aside from the friendly staff and decent prices, I was pleased that they had popcorn hot and fresh in the back. And it was free! That sure saved me the $20 I likely would have spent at Taco Bell later on that night (and the $10 cab ride just to get there). Our night was even more amazing when "Shine" by Collective Soul came up on the jukebox. "Duh duh, duh duh duh duhduhduh duh YEAH!"

My favorite place in the city to watch an IU game! Although it can get crowded the service is usually fairly quick, the food is good ( well for bar food), there are decent drink specials and they play the iu fight song... What more could a Hoosier fan and for?!

Well, it would have been 5 stars... There was a huge group of us there on 7/17 for the Women's World Cup Championship game and we had called ahead of time to make sure that they would be showing the game. They ensured us they would be and so we made plans to head over. We were there an hour before the game and everything was going great. The food was awesome (buy one, get one free sandwiches!), the server was great, the service was good and all the tvs were tuned in to the game. Everyone in the bar was watching the game, not just our group. So, imagine our surprise when the last penalty kick was made and the bartender suddenly changed ALL the tvs to the Cubs game (which was in the bottom of the 9th inning, Cubs down by 3, no chance of winning). WTF. Why the hell would you suddenly change the channels knowing that ALL the people currently in your bar are watching the soccer match? We all wanted to see the interviews afterwards but no such luck. Bartender wouldn't change it back for us and instead turned on the music really annoyingly loud so we couldn't even hear each other talking anymore. So... it would have 5 stars hands down, except the bartender totally ruined it at the end.

I lived mere blocks from here- BLOCKS- for over a year and I never went in until this last weekend. Such a shame, because this place seems pretty dang cool. Finley Dunnes has a totally chill, warm, inviting atmosphere- no frills here, but who needs that anyway? Our server was a little hard to flag down but there was no wait at the bar. I'd def come back all the time, if now I didn't live just a bit too far to make the trek regularly.

I will admit right now my 5 star rating is based on three things 1. I AM A UD FLYER!!! 2. The Ryan Burger 3. Popcorn First of all us Dayton Flyers don't have many options as far as watching our beloved Flyers play hoops. This bar caters to us. They not only proudly display our banner but they get every tv broadcast game! And the place is usually packed. You have to get there early to get a table for a UD game. There have been big games I've had to get there at 430pm for just to grab a table (I got the LAST table) for a game that didn't start till 730pm. Second you HAVE to order the Ryan Burger. It is HEAVEN and makes my top 5 burgers ever list. It's the bun... the toasted french loaf seasoned with garlic... it is SO DAMN GOOD. You'll bite into it and giggle. It's that good. I've seen a grown man take a single bite of the Ryan Burger- as a single tear trickled down his cheek. And last is the popcorn. They have a help yourself popcorn machine in the corner. And I tend to make multiple trips to fill the plastic baskets with popcorn. It's yummy and it's just a nice, much appreciated addition to this bar. GO DAYTON FLYERS!

Standard "Irish" pub with tons of flat screens, slightly below average beer prices, and decent (if not amply portioned) pub food. Good crowds too, as long as you like University of Dayton (go Fliers) or can deal with large numbers of drunks. It's certainly not the biggest Chad/Trixie hang-out on the North Side - that stays a few blocks south on Lincoln. Easy parking (usually within a block) or just walk from the Paulina Brownline stop a block away.

  • Colleen Anne F.

Not the greatest kitchen but not a bad watering hole for locals. Kitchen is ok, but you won't catch too many patrons making a 40-minute commute to get here.

  • Jason K.

I'm not sure if I am a Chad or a Brad (or maybe a Trista), but I'm a fan of this bar and I'm OK with that. What's not to like? Every bar in the city has flat screens as far as the eye can see. Few still hold on to that local feel. Spend one evening in FD...better yet, spend a lazy Saturday afternoon here and you will begin to understand why this place is special. The food is great and the staff is "happy to be there" instead of "angry you interrupted their crossword." That being said, this bar goes beyond great food, cheap drinks and a friendly staff. Ask for your game on TV, I dare you. Instead of angry look and a two minute trip through the channels you KNOW it's not on, they will do everything they can to find your game...even if it means finding coordinates for the satellite on-line. Finley Dunnes is what a sports bar should be. Fun. Oh, they have free popcorn too.

This is a great place for chatter and relaxation. Went here on Friday night with the S.O. and had a great time. For all that we ordered, between the drinks and the cheesy fries, the bill was cheap! Also, as a side-note, there was a guy there who was so familiar, but I couldn't figure out where I knew him from. He was probably wondering why I kept looking and pointing at him! I never figured it out--I hate when that happens... P.S. My ex-roommate who moved to California loved this bar so much that she named her new puppy "Finn".
