Went here with a Restaurant.com coupon. Food was ok. Expected a little more. If I had to go without the coupon, would have probably not been worth it.

Very nice food, especially the burgers or the breakfast. However, service can be a bit slow, and prices are up there. Despite this, when our waiter was actually there, they always are very understanding and have never messed up my order.

Had the worst experience of my life me and my wife wanted to grab something to eat so we decided to stop by dine restaurant we were by the neighborhood so we decided to try something new while we took a couple of minutes to look at the menu my wife noticed there was a cockroach on the floor just crawling all over the place until a waiter kill it and just kick to to the side instead of cleaning it up after that my wife appetite just flew out the window very unsanitary so be careful if you eat at this place might have a bug in your food if your not careful they migjt be infested

I have been there two times now for lunch on two different days. They have free parking if you are coming to the restaurant. The service was okay. The restrooms were clean. It was nearly empty both times when I came in. The food was nice but nothing special.

Very disappointed. Biscuits and gravy were very strange and did not taste good; it was sour and biscuits were dry. Eggs were cold and likely came from a powder. Several better options in the west loop.

Perfect quiet place for the family. Easy to get to quiet, they meet my special requests, there are many. I order things that may not be on the menu. One of my party, didn't like what was served & they brought something different. The food is wonderful, I've never been disappointed.

We are really batting horribly since our company move to the Greektown / West Loop area.. Dine continues the streak. Went for lunch. 12:05 and the place was empty. Not a good sign. Service was OK considering we were one of the few there.. but food was "meh" as the 2 star rating describes. I had penne dish and they added radicchio to it.. I guess I could have ordered without it but it's not that I don't like radicchio, it can be delicious if combined correctly, but not with Fennel Sausage, Basil and Shaved Parmesan.. it basically threw in a bitter taste that although edible, not anything I would order again. Dad always taught me not to order pasta dishes at non-Italian restaurants.. oops. But that being said, Dad would have approved of the choice the other diner being the BLT. Again, meh.. she was hungry as hell or she probably wouldn't have eaten the half a sandwich (which is a lot for her, but I digress...) Oh and for the prices of these meals - $16 and $12, I could have found much better at Marianos or at the food truck illegally down the street. I tasted the fries.. they looked good, but looks can be deceiving as once I tasted, it was sad and soggy, kind of like our experience at Dine. I would only go there again if I was drunk and someone else paid.

My family and I came in on a Saturday night after my son's hockey game at Johnnie's Ice House and at first I was a little nervous as it's attached to the Crown Plaza Hotel and when we walked in at 7:30 we were the only diner's in the restaurant. However, having the whole place to ourselves was great, the service was very attentive as you would expect if you were the only ones in the place. The scallop appetizer with the Farro was outstanding as was the fried goat cheese. The menu offers some real comfort food including a design your own mac and cheese which is great for kids and adults. The chicken and the pork chop were perfectly cooked and delightful. I would have given 5 stars but the fried green tomatoes were not breaded with cornmeal and although good could have been a little better. Reasonably priced for the downtown and worth the trip plus valet parking is complimentary.

This is a hotel restaurant. The food is good tasting and the service is quick and friendly. The portions are huge, particularly when ordering lunch or dinner. Breakfast, the meal I usually had here, was tasty and they had a good selection. Nothing terribly healthy, but you can customize your order to make it healthier. The atmosphere is good. It's comfortable and I enjoyed reading my morning paper while eating breakfast (yay hotel free papers!).

Love this place. Fits a little bit of every need. Great place to hang out at and have some drinks before a night out or sporting event. Or just a low key place to hang out if you want to unwind and enjoy a drink. The bartender, Paul, is super personable and makes the experience at Dine a 5 star. He really knows how to whip up a mean cocktail and will throw out some random jokes every now and then. Very nice dimples too! Food is very good and satisfying. Scallops and Caesar Salad dressing are top notch. P.S. Ask what the soup of the day is!

If I could give Dine zero stars I would. I went for brunch, and I don't know if the food or the service was worse. There was hardly anybody in there, and it took about 10 minutes for the server to come over. Once he finally did, it took another 10 min to get coffee. We placed our order at this time and legitimately only saw our waiter one more time. After the bus boy brought out our food our waiter came by to check on us to see how the food was. I sent back my omelette which I would usually never do but it was loaded with cheddar, which I hate and didn't order. I wanted the gruyere cheese I had ordered and when the bus boy came back with my omelette, it was the same one with most of the cheddar scraped out then re-cooked with the gruyere and completely overdone. I hardly ate any of it as it was so terrible, and we never saw our waiter again. After sitting for about 20 more minutes we finally went to the hostess stand to find out that he had taken a break. The best part about this meal was leaving that Godforsaken place. The service and the food are completely atrocious, and you couldn't pay me to go back. Don't waste your money. I'd gladly wait 2 hours for Yolk, Meli, or Eggsperience to avoid this hellhole.

Oh man, this place is odd. Definitely feels like a hotel lounge trying to be hip. The experience wasn't awful, but it was hilarious. First of all, it took a while for a server to come to the table -- I think it was the bartender doing double duty, though I did spy another surly server who made eye contact with me and didn't come over. My friend and I took advantage of the 1/2 off bottles of wine special (Mon nights) and that deal might just bring us back since we are often in the neighborhood on Mondays. The food was downright fascinating. We ordered a hummus & veggies plate and a side of mashed potatoes. Somehow it took almost 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Our server informed us that the kitchen had actually run out of BOTH but were willing to make both from scratch for us. Ok.... The hummus was...not hummus. It was an oily, flavorless chickpea puree. Wrong consistency, no hint of garlic or lemon or any of the seasonings one associates with hummus. It would have been better for them to just go to the Dominick's across the street and buy some hummus. The smashed potatoes were better, but still bizarre. Almost a little bit sweet? They weren't terrible, but not what we were expecting. All in all, just a weird experience. And then at 10:45, all the lights came on because they close at 11. Strange.

We enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza Chicago - The Metro, and the bar at Dine was very pretty. The service was spotty, though. On a Friday night, the bartender was the only wait staff available, and it took her a while to take care of our drink order, and she didn't come back to our table very much. The prices were high, but expected, for a hotel bar in the area we were in. The fries weren't anything special, but it was $5 for one order (there were still a lot of them, just not very good.) The microbrews they had were good, but expensive. The second night we were there (Saturday) the lady seemed frazzled and rude. She barked at us and a couple of other customers when we accidentally sat in the closed restaurant area. It was busier that night, but not out of control. Seating was somewhat sparse, but not too close together that you were sitting on top of other patrons. I would recommend going out and trying other bars in the area over drinking at Dine. Dugans is particularly great, and only a block away, the prices are better, and the bartenders are more attentive. If you must stay at the hotel, it's not horrible, it's just not worth the prices, in my opinion.

  • Nichole M.

If this place were a little less expensive, I would probably give it 5 stars. The food and ambiance is just not impressive enough for the price. My boyfriend and I found a restaurant.com certificate, so we decided to go here before a Bulls game. We went around 5:15 and the place was empty. I guess we were a little early for dinner. The hostess and server were both very nice. We ordered just one drink each because they were pretty expensive. I loved my drink which was some sort of concoction with Bailey's in it. I wish I could remember what it was called. Then we both had pasta dishes. The portions were pretty large, but still it was nothing too exciting or impressive for the price we paid. We had a nice time and people did start to arrive as we were leaving, so I know that more than just us had dinner there that night. I would come back maybe for after work drinks or for the lunch specials. I probably wouldn't choose to come here again for dinner just because of the prices.

Um, this place is in desperate need of a makeover. The inside looks like an old banquet hall, but the waiters are dressed for a fine-dining restaurant. I don't get what the theme is because nothing matches. Onto the food. I was just going to order a salad because I'm on a diet, but I couldn't help but order the french fries because they sounded so good! The fries were on their burger menu and everything else was on a separate menu. Why? Couldn't tell ya. My food was good. Not the best I've had, but not the worst. My friend ordered the ravioli and it was very soupy. My other friend got a pork sandwich (I think) and he was unimpressed. Portion sizes were good all around. So, the bill showed that my fries were $5. We all saw on the menu that they were $2. I don't like to complain, so I was just going to pay it. My friends would not let me. They said that was ridiculous. They asked the server about it and he said they were only $2 if you ordered off of the burger menu. That makes no sense because fries weren't even listed at all on the other menu. The server was apologetic for the confusion and even acknowledged that we're not the only ones this has happened to. He had the manager credit the difference. Will I go back here? Hmmm....I don't know. I don't care about the price gouging, but I really, truly hate the whole interior of the restaurant. It hurt my eyes.

Two nights ago stopped in for a great alsatian flatbread like I had experienced in the past. ordered it to go. got home and i found the flatbread to be burnt - all dark brown and black. I called Dine and the hostess could not have been nicer and more apologetic. She gave me to Ben the manager who was also very nice and apologetic and said to come back in and he would buy one on him. I was at the Crowne Plaza Hotel for a meeting tonight and afterwards I stopped at Dine to pick up the replacement flatbread. When I got this one home it was the opposite of black and burnt. It was undercooked, laden with way too much cheese and oil. Again impossible to eat. All I can say these days is that the kitchen is unfortunately very inconsistent and no one is regulating that kitchen even when they knew this was a replacement order. Too bad cause now I will not be back.

For some reason I feel we have been getting extremely poor service lately and unfortunately this was the case last Saturday at Dine. We had a restaurant.com certificate so we decided to give this place a try. I have never seen a hostess move so slow in my entire life. When she noticed my boyfriend and I enter the restaurant, she moseyed on over taking her close to 5 minuets. We were then placed in the very back of the uncrowded restaurant in a room alone, and waited for another 15 minuets to be approached by a server. The food was ok, nothing special. I noticed a note that they have a bunch of craft beers now (Goose Island, Founders, ect.) in which there was none of- I believe they had Summertime. It seems like the only reason this place is able to stay open is because its attached to the Crown Plaza and in a bizarre location. This place is a no go for me.

We went in by suggestion of a huge banner outside saying "join Us For brunch and Mimosas starting at 10 am." We got there at 1130, and the bar still wasn't open. And our food was horrible. The sausages were cold, and the potatoes were soggy. I'll definitely Skip it next time.

I'm glad we found this gem! All of the food we've tried had been excellent-steak, burgers, salmon, etc. and it is very reasonable. They have a great beer and drink selection. During the summer they had a really good summer lemonade and I'm looking forward to hopefully a great fall drink. The manager, Ben, is awesome. He makes great drink recommendations!

  • Chris S.

As of now I can't review the food, but I've been to the bar a few times, and it's always been a good place to hang out, watch a game or strike up some conversation. The bartenders and other staff are always friendly and attentive, as is the manager in the evenings. The space is large and open, and while some hotel bars can be a bit outdated, that's not the case here. Even if you aren't staying at the hotel, this would make a good place to grab drinks and/or dinner before a Bulls or Hawks game. Good beer selection, including some local brews, and the food menu looks pretty good too, but more on that next time.

Great atmosphere, amazing Smoked Trout and the most comfy green dining chairs! Awesome place for a date or a big family reunion. Plenty of parking and cabs. I enjoyed the delicious garlic roasted chicken with glazed carrots and smashed potatoes and to carb it up, I added a side of Duck Fat Roasted Potatoes. Needless to say, this big boy brought home a doggie bag. :) I am looking forward to my next visit for dinner or lunch. I am eager to try the Tomato Basil soup with grilled cheese croutons.

When I first looked at the menu, I was a little shocked at the high prices for what appeared to be a fairly casual restaurant. I got one of the specials: a half chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh cooked spinach, topped off with bacon crumbles. The flavor was fine but a bit salty and the breast was too dry. The potatoes turned out to be cut in small pieces instead of mashed and were not very garlicky. The bacon was more like ham chunks than crumbles and added to the over-saltiness. Not a great dish. However, the peach martini was awesome and the service was great. I was also impressed that they brought over a feedback card for me to fill out afterwards (I had not complained or expressed disappointment). I presume they are open to criticism and taking measures to improve which is something I respect. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but I'm staying at the hotel so I'm willing to give it another shot.

It wasn't even busy during lunch, and we only saw our server at the end when he gave us our bill! The hostess seated us and took our order. Strange. Food wasn't even great. Prices definitely do not reflect the cafeteria tasting meal. We tried the braised short rib sandwich ($12) which was basically a pulled pork sandwich without the BBQ sauce. The horseradish-sour cream was good, but overall the sandwich was still really dry. The chicken pot pie ($10) was more unimpressive. Really runny and chunks of white chicken were cut way too big! It wasn't a traditional pot pie, either. It was more like cream of chicken soup with a pastry top. Not as fun to eat as a real pot pie.

Dinner last night was great! I was a little nervous because in checking Yelp before we went, it seemed like the majority of the good reviews were quite some time ago. Most of the reviews in the last year were not as complimentary. Well last night was terrific! The calamari appetizer was very good and it was a huge plate. The four of us were unable to finish it. Fresh. Crispy. Great flavor and nice presentation. The salads were great----highly recommend the beet and goat cheese salad with arugula. The strawberry spinach salad was also excellent. A friend recommended the meatloaf and although it was very good over mashed potatoes and sauted spinach, the standout clearly was the scallops over mushroom risotto dish. That alone is a reason to go back. Service was excellent and friendly. Value tip: You can get $25.00 and $50.00 coupons for a few bucks at restaurant.com which makes this place a great value. You can also book a table through opentable.com if you are into racking up points towards a $50.00 gift certificate. This restaurant is attached to the Crown Plaza hotel and if you valet the car at the hotel, have them validate your stub at the restaurant for no charge parking, minus the tip. Enjoy!

Visited Last monday and I must say it was terrible. After watching one waiter and a whole lot of tables he finally found time to take our order. The biscuits and gravy were terrible and highly overpriced.

Charges wayyy too much for a dismal breakfast. Seems like one of those places that only survives because people are forced to eat at the hotel because of logistics. The eggs were oddly powdery and slimy. The French Toast was soggy and tasteless. The granola was decent, though. I'd pay no more than $8 for the breakfast buffet, instead of $20. And for your $20 the waitstaff won't even be attentive in pouring your drink.

The latest Yelp soiree allowed me to visit Dine, a cozy restaurant at the northwest corner of the revamped Crowne Plaza, which I still remember as the droll Comfort Inn during my schooldays at the nearby UIC campus. This place feels like it has a separate identity from the hotel, which is a good thing. The bar area is spacious, and the dining area has a mix of tables and booths. We enjoyed appetizers like bite-size grilled cheese sandwiches, duck confit puffs, fancy cucumber slices, and oysters. By far the tastiest item was the Red Velvet cupcakes, miniature versions of their popular Red Velvet Cake. The regular menu features a variety of comfort foods with a twist, and offers a change of pace from the zillion Greek restaurants in Greektown. I love it when Andrea and Elizabeth pick new places for me to try out. Thanks A & E for setting up another swell Yelp bash !!

For a hotel, the food was pretty good. We went to the restaurant on a week night and it was surprisingly empty. I can only assume that not many people choose to dine in a hotel restaurant because they think the food quality might be poorer than a 'normal' restaurant. The emptiness of the restaurant added to the romance of our date, which was nice. The atmosphere is very chic and elegant; I enjoyed all of the dark, rich tones of the walls and the seating. The tables were dressed nicely with linens and everything was crisp and clean. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us pick out a bottle of wine. The prices are also pretty good for a bottle. I had the fish and chips, which was probably some of the best I've had, and my boyfriend had steak. Only downside was the overall menu selection and the price - I'm generally wary of restaurants that push a "Nouveau American" menu of some nature. I usually don't like the "American Classics" redone with a modern twist because that modern twist usually equals high price. I feel like meatloaf can only cost so much. Their menu was chock full of the "classics" which is nice if that's the sort of thing that you like, but I had sort of expected a bit more variety before we went. Also, the menu selections were a bit pricey (average about $15-$17 per person for food only). These things may prevent me from going back in the future because there's other places to get the same kind of quality American classic food for less.

Very good food... price was on the higher to medium side. We had an excellent server, Roxanne. Me and my girl went in before a Hawks game. We chose this place because it was on the way and she printed off a Restaurant.com coupon that saved us over $20.00. We weren't starving so we decided just to order quickly and share everything. We each got a beer. Then for starters we ordered the French Onion soup of the day. Followed by the Scallops which were amazing. For our entree we ordered the Cajun pasta which was delicious. Thanks.

I'm surprised Dine isn't more busy. I thought the food was excellent. Nothing really creative but just good, solid, fresh food. They may have one of the best Caesar salads I've had. The romaine was super fresh and crisp accompanied by large crunchy croutons tossed in a quality dressing. Generous portion for only $6. The portobella mushroom ravioli was wonderful. Not too rich of a cream sauce, just right. Lots on peas to make me feel healthy. They have a great daily lunch and drink specials as well. The decor is a tad bland and basic but it is inside a Crowne Plaza.

This is a very nice hotel restaurant and great bar. Paul Jenkins the bartender is friendly and engaging and cracks people up. It's a great place to get warmed up before going out to a club or go to a Bulls or Blackhawk game. The people that go there are pretty chill. The food is pretty awesome. The chicken fetuccini alfredo is only the best I've ever tasted in my entire life. I will never eat that dish anywhere else but there...it's THAT good. They must put cocaine in it I swear...jk lol

Skip this place and here's why: I had made a reservation on Open Table for myself and 5 co-workers for a birthday lunch celebration for two of our team members. We walk in and there is literally one other customer in the entire restaurant at a table. Always a bad sign at the lunch hour, but I figured we were a little on the early side, so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. The hostess was on the phone taking what might have been the longest order ever. She, along with two other staff members I spotted just let us stand there for at least 10 minutes while she continued to take down the phone order. Finally she got off and I said we had a reservation, which was funny given no one was there. I let her know that we'd like to sit outside. Mainly because the emptiness of the restaurant was awkward and it was also beautiful outside. She then said, if you don't mind waiting a few minutes, I'll have someone push two tables together. This was funny since clearly she had already watched us wait a long time, but I said that's fine. Then, nothing happened. We waited another 10 minutes....waited...waited....she was milling about, staff members were walking around. Finally I see one guy go out and take the 30 seconds to push two patio tables together. Then nothing happens. We are still waiting at the hostess stand. She is nowhere to be found, no one comes over to seat us, nothing. I finally just took the initiative and told our group to follow me and we headed outside to seat ourselves. That's when I noticed both of the tables were dirty. One even had bird crap on it. No set ups on the table and no staff in sight. Now, all the red flags are going off while we continue to wait for a sign of human life at this restaurant to appear. No one ever came back out. After waiting about another 5 minutes or so, I looked at my boss and said "let's go". We all got up and just walked off the patio and headed down the street to one of the other 50 restaurants within a 4 block radius. I did call the restaurant while we were walking to alert them that their table of 6 (leaving one customer in the whole place) had just gotten up and left as no one seemed to want to serve them. I said no one cared we were there apparently. The girl apologized. I said that's ok, bad service equals a bad review. Here it is. Bottom line, there are far too many fabulous restaurants in this city to waste your time having poor customer service. This place is not worth your time. Wake up Dine, clearly there's a reason no one was in your restaurant.

I wanted to like this place. I really did! So much that I ate there 2 nights in a row. Well OK I was stranded the 2nd night due to one of the usual Chicago blizzards but hey, that still counts. The menu sounded promising enough: "dishes using fresh seasonal ingredients and pure cooking techniques". I had had a long day at the studio after coming in on an 8am flight from LAX and fresh was a word I sorely needed to hear! Ate at the bar, which is working out to be my customary thing when traveling alone on business. The bartender was very nice, and poured me a pretty decent Consentino cab while my food was cooking. I was immensely excited about the Alaskan Scallops (because I never cook them) and the goat cheese/beet salad, since learning I liked beets a few years ago. Sadly sadly disappointed. The scallops were a bit undercooked (which I can live with) but they were salty! The arugula side was....also salty! I basically couldn't really taste much of the polenta as I'm sure my tongue was salt-burned. I've never left so much food on a plate before. Ever. (I could hear my mom's voice about starving people in the world.) Moved to the beet salad as I figured it would give me some relief. *Sad face*!! Did the beets come from a can?! I imagine these thick slices had never seen the inside of an oven because they were cold AND hard. Weren't they supposed to be roasted till they were sweet and delicious? And the peppercress that came with it? ....Salty! I gave up and ate the goat cheese and called it a night. Second meal - organic baby greens with bosc pear and butternut squash. I didn't realize it was squash either by sight or taste since it was diced beyond recognition. The baby greens ...salty! And dressed waaaay beyond an inch of its life. (Note to chef - lighter touch please!). Saving grace - the crab cake was succulent and delicious. Side of arugula ......ok you know where I'm going right? Needless to say, not a meal I want to repeat. Next week I have to be back in Chicago and I need a new place to stay at, if only in the off-chance I will be snowed in again and have no other dining options!

The yelp party was the best yet (I've only been to three). It was great to see some familiar faces and meet people whose writing I've enjoyed. Those cosmopolitans were deadly... After the party, the Husbang and I got a table and a good dinner. Several menu items looked intriguing - I ordered the chicken and dumplings, at Andrea's suggestion, and we shared a chilled asparagus salad with shaved parmesan. Andy got the risotto with sweet peas. I enjoyed the chicken and dumplings - the gnocchi seemed freshly made and wasn't doughy. I think I enjoyed the dinner so much because it tasted like food a good friend would make. The sauces were light, and you could taste the vegetables and the pepper. The service was terrific. I didn't have a problem with the bread the way Andy P. did - it was doughy, sure, but the herbed butter was delicious, and I was having gnocchi - not likely to fill up on bread first. It exceeded my expectations and I'd bring just about anyone here. The location is user-friendly if you're car-dependent like me. One minute from the Kennedy and there's free valet parking with restaurant validation.

Went here on a rainy Saturday afternoon about 3pm with my sister and her 4 and 2 year olds. We were the only people in the place. Everything looked good- white table cloths modern and simple decor. We sat in one of the huge booths- which was good with kids and all. Our waiter was very attentive to the kids- brought kids menus, kids cups. And he provided very friendly accurate service. Very good. The food wasn't great though. I had the pulled BBQ pork sandwich, and it tasted like fish. The mac & cheese was tasteless. And the potpie was pretty tasteless too, and a bit too runny-soupy. I probably won't go back. Entrees were reasonable priced between $8-12 for lunch.

So I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Went there for breakfast on a fluck. There open for breakfast, how awesome is that. So my sister and I walked in we were the first people in there. My sister got a hot tea and i got a decaf coffee. There coffee was very good. So we checked out menu and what really caught my attention was that they had lox and bagels. I love lox and bagels but alot of breakfast places don't have them. oh and they were the bomb! There salmon was so fresh. my sister had a waffle with fresh strawberry's and whip cream and she absolutely amazing. We had a really nice time time and i defiantly want to go back.

This place has seen better days. Food is mediocre; service is pleasant. Bread basket arrives quickly, but the rolls are dry and truly need plenty of butter. Trout was quite tasty, but potatoes were cold. Portions are large and prices reasonable. Coffee was bitter requiring lots of cream. Desserts are ok. All in all, everything here is just sort of down the middle.

I feel a little funny writing this review, but I don't think that I was able to fully experience Dine at last night's Yelp event. The folks at Dine did a fabulous job, though. As people have said, Dine is an upscale diner. I liked the decor very much. The staff, especially the two bartenders, were great! They made a great mojito and the Arnold Palmers they supplied were good too. The restrooms, however, are in the Crowne Plaza. I guess I'm a person who values decent restrooms in a public place. This one wasn't bad. I had to step over a few kids playing on the floor while their parents checked in (which wasn't easy after a few stiff drinks!) Also, the toilet paper supply was very very limited. Ok, enough about the bathroom. The food wasn't that great. It's hard to judge the menu from the appetizers that Dine provided. Overall, the appetizers didn't thrill me. I liked the oysters with the frozen bloody mary on top. The red velvet cake was good, but it was overpowered by too much frosting. The other appetizers weren't that great. I think that gave a good effort, but the food wasn't really working for me. I think that I will have to go back to Dine for dinner in order to give it a fair review. Thanks Andrea and Elizabeth for this event. I would have never tried Dine otherwise.

Enjoyed this restaurant for dinner very much! Great Food, Service and Ambiance, plus FREE PARKING. (get your ticket validated from the Host/Hostess ) The exposed kitchen overlooks the open main dining area and the lounge/bar are is very comfortable. Right off expressway and sort of "hidden" off of Madison.(inside the Crown Plaza Hotel) A great find in the south loop.

Free valet is a plus, the fact that its in the lobby of the hotel is a minus. The service was good, and the decor in the restaurant was surprisingly modern. I was a little surprised at the prices, however. I realize that its a restaurant in a hotel, but its not exactly the Peninsula. My tomato salad was good. I should have ordered the chicken entree, but went with the meat loaf when the waiter indicated that it would be 20 min. I'm not a meat loaf expert, but they pretty much served a gigantic, dense, hamburger on a plate. It was very heavy and not very tasty. The potatoes and spinach it came with were delicious. My girlfriend had the scallops and was very pleased with how they turned out. Overall, a good restaurant with an okay wine selection. I left feeling a little sick to my stomach due to the pound of ground beef I had just eaten. And I was definitely disappointed considering the kick ass pulled pork sandwiches they serve at Old St Pats.

Went with a group of six for a weekday lunch. The restaurant was freezing, the service was abysmal. Unfortunately since we were a group of six, 18% gratuity was automatically included. Normally I would tip 20% but this waiter would have been lucky to get 10% after we had to wave down the host for help during our meal and walk up to the waiter to finally get him to accept our credit card so we could leave. The fries were good and the people who got the pulled pork and turkey sandwhich were happy with their food. The veggie wrap and the buffalo chicken sandwhiches were not very good. I'd have given it 2-3 stars based on food but service pushed it to one star.

They have a big fancy espresso machine behind the bar, but try ordering a macchiato, or an espresso, or even coffee and the bartender will tell you she doesn't "do" those. FAIL

Went last night. Didn't realize it was located in a hotel until I got there. That said the food was surprisingly good. Was disappointed there was a large (empty) parking lot which we could have parked in ourselves, but we had to pay a valet (it's no longer free like in previous review posts). I highly recommend the scallops appetizer with the polenta, and the risotto was fantastic too!

Very pleasant experience. I went today for lunch (I work down the street and walked over). I was seated quickly and reviewed the menu. It wasn't a huge variety, but plenty valid choices for lunch. Wasn't overwhelming (like the 30 pg. Cheesecake Factory menu). I ordered the Classic Cobb Salad and was not at all disapppointed. Hearty chunks of grilled chicken breast, thick crispy bacon pieces, multiple slices of avocado, ample cherry tomatoes and I choose a tangy Balsamic vinegar. There were only about 3 other tables of diners, so no long wait for food to arrive at my table. The server kept my water glass filled and the cool water was refreshing to my palatte. I had a certificate from Restaurant.com and certainly will go again. It was worth it.

I really wanted to love this place because the reviews were so grand. I just can't say that I loved it because although my dining experience was wonderfully delicious, my two companions really didn't like their food, they messed up the check, and the place was EMPTY on a Thursday, and I mean, we were literally the ONLY people there from 7-9. I like to be able to hear myself talk, but it certainly affected the ambience. Summary: the mushroom ravioli was excellent, as was the red velvet cake (ask for extra strawberries), avoid the linguini with tomatoes and ricotta, and I bet that on a weekend night it's more hoppin'.

Went here with wife and aunt. Did not realize that it was a hotel restaurant. Just finding the place was a challenge since the address states that it is on Madison, but the actual entrance (past the parking lot) is on Halsted St. At least they have free valet parking which is a must in parking-challenged Greek town. The restaurant was mostly empty when we got there around 7:00PM. Our waitress, while cordial, was less than attentive with us, and seemed to pay more attention to the other tables seating more customers (= more tips). As the restaurant filled with more patrons, she became even less attentive. She even had helpers to serve the food and clear the tables, so she wasn't that busy. She simply liked talking to the men at the other tables instead of waiting on us. The food was decent, not great, but hey, it's a hotel restaurant. I had a rib eye steak ($38) that was trimmed in an abundance of fat (yuck) and topped with a couple spears of burnt, dry asparagus. Presentation was nothing special either. The red velvet cake was very good, but $11? It was also so huge, the 3 of us couldn't finish it. I expect that kind of dessert at Gibson's, not here. Overall, we were disappointed with service. The food was decent, though a bit expensive for the quality delivered. Valet parking was a plus, but not enough to salvage our opinion of the place. We probably won't be going back since there are better restaurants in the area that serve much better food in the same price range, with much better service.

The service was lackluster at best. Our waiter was a kid whose only been there for a few weeks. He couldnt recommend things on the menu when I asked what was good. He rechecked our drinks twice. Which, proved that his memory wasnt beyond writing it down and getting it right the first time. The meatloaf that everyone rants and raves about was dry and cold. I confirmed with him that the 18% tip was included when we asked for the check and presented the restaurant.com coupon. When we all got up to leave, we were accosted by the restaurant manager asking whether there was something wrong with the service as we didnt leave tip. It was an utterly embarrassing experience with the rest of the restaurant staring at us like we short paid the bill.

I don't have anything bad to say about this, except that it was a trifle expensive. But all the food I tried tasted pretty darn good, and even though the atmosphere is a little weird, it's solid choice for a pre-game/concert (at the UC) meal. Oddly enough, I can't think of anything else to say. It was obviously not horrible, and not exceptional. It just was.

I always go by Dine on my way home from work and last night's Yelp event was the perfect excuse to try it out. I invited a friend of mine and we enjoyed the snacks especially the grilled cheese. The drink was delicious, as I am a sucker for anything minty. I am also a red velvet-aholic (every birthday in my house means a red velvet cake) so I was really into those darling little cupcakes. Too bad they ran out so fast! The service was good. I plan to pop in again and try some other stuff out. EDIT I had only been to Dine for the Yelp event but yesterday I managed to trick my companion into taking me to brunch. We did the brunch buffet and it was great. They had the usuals, eggs, sausage, bacon... etc as well as some nice lunchy options like tortilla crusted cod and roasted chicken. The bacon was thick and peppery and they had really plump fresh berries. The buffet included the red velvet cupcakes (!!) and my companion really liked the butternut squash soup. Even Mr. Fussypants said he'd return. The only thing that was a little off was the extreme peppery taste of the bloody mary which by the way is only $2 on Sundays if you're into pepper times a million.

My gf and I, along with a few of our friends, had dinner on New Year's Eve at Dine. For the most part, I was not too impressed with the food. The calamari was tasty but had way too much batter and not enough squid. My gf also got a cup of lobster bisque, which tasted more like Tom Yum soup. Don't get me wrong -- I like Tom Yum soup in general but not when I'm expecting lobster bisque. For our entrees, my gf got the fried chicken, which was good but no better than what you'd get at Popeye's. That said, I'm not really sure if anyone can make fried chicken better than the good folks at Popeye's so maybe I'm being overly critical here. As for my entree, I got the new york strip, which was well cooked but a bit on the cold side. I suspect this happened because our server had to wait for the fried chicken to finish cooking so that he could bring all of our plates out at once. On the plus side, their mac n' cheese was fantastic, as was the Red Velvet Cake we got for dessert. Service was decent, though I thought our server did not refill our wine glasses as promptly as he should have (there's nothing worse than not having alcohol at hand on New Year's Eve!). At one point, someone (manager? sommelier?) spilled a martini on my gf's coat by accident. He was quick to apologize, offer his business card so that he could pay to have the coat cleaned and brought out another martini. I was impressed with his classiness, as I've seen other places waffle about taking responsibility for spilling stuff on you. Also, the complimentary valet parking is a nice touch. I can't say I loved my experience at Dine but I didn't hate it either. I would probably give it another try since there were some other items on the menu that looked appealing. If you haven't been before, it's definitely worth checking out -- just be sure not to set your expectations too high beforehand.

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed after reading all of the great reviews. Dine is the streotypical well designed, well managed restaurant that fails to deliver on the taste. The appetizers were good and served at the right temperature. My entree, the pasta was severely undercooked and hard. The Red Velvet Cake is good, but other than the peanut brittle on the side, it's not terribly innovative and tastes like regular old birthday cake that's been dyed red. Overall, the food was average and the wait staff was a bit too attentive. You really don't have to check in every 2 minutes and ask me how the group how the meal is. I'm not the kind to send food back because I know what can happen to it in its journey - I'll suck it up, eat my food, and not go back to this restaurant again. No offense to a lot of the other Yelpers, but you give high ratings to everything. I'm getting a bit harsher from now on to try to compensate for how nice you are :)

what a treat! we just got back from the yelp event tonite and Dine certainly worth stopping into try. the atmosphere is posh without being intimidating and the food is top notch. be sure to try their arnold palmer w/ mint vodka if you need a drink. for a dinner topper, check out the red velvet cake. mmmm yum! for pics from the event check out my site at: dangin.net/yelpdine

Dine is fine for brunch. Typical fare: scrambled eggs, french toast dusted with powdered sugar, maple flavored bacon, large breakfast sausages, made to order omelettes, caprese salad, tiny red velvet cupcakes, etc. It wasn't bad but it wasn't like "wow". The coffee wasn't good; they really need to get a better brand.

Lovely restaurant, attached to a hotel, cute area with nice outdoor patio. If you are in the west loop area, try this place for lunch or dinner. I had good time at yelp event last night. Food was delicious, if you haven't tried their cake, yummy, it made me melt.. that was good. Drink they had out "Greg Norman" tasted like water down orange tang, kind of sweet. As for me, it would take some special event like last night to come here because there are many other restaurants in the area you could go. Dining area was very open and restroom was out of the way in the hotel lobby (little difficult to find). I would have to visit here few more times in order to give them a better rating. Thank you Andrea and Elizabeth for great evening at Dine!

Dine is delicious! I had lunch there today for the first time and it's definitely a 5 star rating. The diner atmosphere is absolutely adorable and makes you feel right at home. We started with mussels and calamari...the calamari is some of the best I've had in a long time! For my main entree I had the chicken and dumplings, which was very good as well! The highlight of the meal was the red velvet cake dessert. I was so full by the time we ate dessert, but it was too good not to eat! It looked like they have some great martinis as well so I'll have to go back for drinks very soon! I was also very impressed with the service...I'm planning on visiting Dine again very soon after today's wonderful meal!

Well my experience is somewhat limited because I was only here for the Yelp event. The Arnold Palmer drinks were inconsistent in taste because it was made in batches causing them to be stronger or weaker depending on when it was served. I liked the appetizers that we had, but my gripe has to do with the highly acclaimed red velvet cake. Now, when I think about the name of this I think the texture has to be on the money - like velvet, too. It was good, but not like velvet. I actually paid the price for a full piece of one - $15 for this baby. I have had desserts bigger and better than this at that price or less. I'm not sure if the service had to do with them catering to us for an event, but I may come back to see...

Upscale comfort food done in a great way! My meatloaf was amazing and the truffled mashed potatoes? Oh heavenly. I loved my dessert of coffee and donuts, but I heard they took it off the menu. Boo. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed. Not a lot of people there so I'm glad to hear more people are going as I don't want it to close!!

Dine was okay.. I went to my first Chicago Elite party and it was a blast, the food was yummy, but the definitely could have used a little more ambiance. Music is what I'm talking about.. I can't give a full review, since I didn't actually eat more than finger foods,l but I will say I will return for my signature three visits before the final review is set. I'd give it a try again, I wasn't disappointed and the outside seating was perfect on a night of reprieve from the heat!

I have been here a couple times for work lunches. I really like the fried chicken but it takes 20 minutes or so to make so be prepared to wait. The meatloaf is also a good choice. I did have the daily special once which was soup and half a sandwich. Disgusting. It's not bad for lunch but I would not go for dinner. It is always dead too so at least you know you'll get a seat.

It's weird stepping into Dine and the new Crowne Plaza hotel because I remember the hotel when it was in its run-down, paint-chipped, ghetto state. It's now completely revamped and the whole building is extremely sleek and refined. Dine is nicely decorated in warm tones and comfortable seating all around which is always a nice touch. The service was pretty good though our waitress bordered on being a little on the too-peppy side. The menu offered plenty of comfort foods, some with a twist. I was tempted by the kobe beef burger but opted for something else. The food overall was somewhere between good and just okay but it was worth going to check out the space. If you're looking for a place to have a nice and quiet dinner with decent food, I suggest Dine. I highly recommend using the bathroom because the automatic faucets there are ingenious!

Barf. We went here for Mother's Day dinner with my mom last night and today none of us are feeling too hot. Our server tried, but he couldn't help the food, which was mediocre at best and disgusting at worst. Among us we had scallops, risotto, crab cakes, a caesar salad and roasted asparagus, and the only thing I would ever eat again was the asparagus.

The new menu is amazing!!!! I would go back JUST for the rolls and white cosmo's. Crab cakes, fingerling potatoes, meatloaf and the amazing customer service were worth going back for.

Just waddled back from Dine, the second time I've taken a group from the office for lunch in the past two weeks. What a find this is! Seven of us went this time, and it was every bit as good as it was the first time. Got a bit more adventurous this time and stuck around for dessert - Red Velvet Cake! Mmmmm!! Last time I had the turkey club, this time the meat loaf (yes, meat loaf!). Others in the party had tomato basil soup, chop salad, jerk chicken sandwich, grilled tuna, and cheesburger... and all commented on how delicious it all was. This place has it all - an interesting environment, fantastic food, and superior service! And no skimpy "gourmet" portions that make you need to sneak in for a Big Mac on the way back to the office, either! I can't recommend this place highly enough!

I wish I had tried Dine for the first time for happy hour or maybe even for dinner. I went yesterday for a work lunch and it was...OK. To be fair, the restaurant was very pleasant, but it was EMPTY for lunch. When we got there at 11:45 we were the only people there and it didn't get much busier. As far as the food goes, I shouldn't have ordered so much. The salad that I got as a starter was HUGE, but very good. I had the duo burgers (Kobe and water buffalo) for my meal and it was delicious. My co-worker had the crab cakes and she said that they were also amazing. I give this place 5 stars on food, but 1 or 2 stars as a lunch place. Check it out in the evening, I know I will.

After all the positive reviews of Dine, I really felt it was time to give this place a go. This place has a lot of potential being so close to the Loop and offers free parking. The decor was nice and the atmosphere was comfortable. The food was actually really good and for the price, a good deal as well. However, even though this place has 4 stars for food, it gets no more than 3 due to service. Service wasn't rude or anything, but they really needed a more training. Examples: - Hostess was putting away napkins not 15ft from our table and dropped a bunch on the floor. We could've sworn she just picked them up and put it back into the bunch she was putting away. - Entrees were forgotten even though the server read out and confirmed our order for us. - A good portion of our party were left with no utensils when their entrees arrived... this seems like a nice enough place, shouldn't we use fork and knives? They never noticed and we had to ask for some. I'd definitely come back again for the food (great Caesar Salad w/ Pancetta, Pan Seared Cod, and the desserts were all extremely good). However, the wait staff needs a bit more polishing.

If you don't want to wait for a table, but want a really good meal you should visit Dine. I took a date here a few weeks ago after calling a bunch of my favorite Chicago spots and not being able to get in anywhere. I decided to try somewhere new and I heard it rarely gets crowded at Dine. It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere so we drove, but parking was no problem and it was validated by the restaurant. I started out with the calamari since it was recommended on Yelp and it was really good. My date loved the chicken dumpligs and I was mor than happy with my mac & cheese dish. The red velvet cake was the best thing ever so defiintely get that if you have the chance to eat here.

I felt sorry for Dine when I walked in there. Here's a beautifully decorated restaurant with a reputation for great martinis and great comfort food and it was half empty at 830pm on a Friday night. That doesn't bode well for business but I hope they stay around for a long time. Needless to say, more people need to find out about this place because it was quite good. Service was prompt and friendly, we were seated at a table vs. booth but the seats were quite comfortable, and the decor is clean lines, good lighting, and tables spaced far apart with tasteful art on the walls, large windows with wood blinds, etc. pretty much a supper club feel. As for the food, my dinner date and I both ordered meat and both our dishes were not cooked to our temperature specifications, but the waiter was very good about it and even gave us my meal for free because of the trouble. A gesture one would expect but one that fewer and fewer restaurants seem to be willing to do these days. The manager even came over after we had gotten our food the second time to make sure it was good. And indeed, after it was cooked correctly, our meal was outstanding. Dessert was also quite good - a banana cream pie with caramel whipped cream... *sigh*...If licking the plate were not such a no-no in a nice dining establishment... People looking to meet for drinks and appetizers would be well suited here as well as those looking for someplace not so well known to take someone for a date. The menu is reasonably priced for the upper-scale food, drinks were tasty, and the vibe is relaxed and romantic; I guess that's why they call it "Dine"

It's a huge, airy space-- and, at lunch on a regular weekday, it's surprisingly empty (which was great for our big group). Dine is just a quick cab ride or a short hike from the Loop, so it's nice if you just want to get away from the crowded bustle that is downtown. They also offer complimentary valet-- which is great if you have friends driving in that don't want to waste time or money on parking. The food is standard, comforting, American fare so I settled on the Dine burger which was juicy, flavorful, and hit the spot. And I like that they have a free appetizer coupon online, which I gladly presented to our waiter despite my friends' embarrassment. Hey, you can't complain about free crab cakes. Haha. All in all, it's a nice place and I'd definitely come back.

For hotel food, you could do worse. I haven't always been happy with the food, but the waitstaff seems to know their stuff and do their best to make up for any other offenses.

We went to Dine for lunch with a group of nine. The service was friendly, but our meals took forever (over a half hour) to arrive. This is unacceptable for lunch on a weekday. Otherwise, the food was okay to good. The two that had the vegetable wrap complained that the vegetable were too oily. My Portabello Raviolis were excellent though. Worth another try for dinner. As a side note, the kitchen is Kosher.

I came here for brunch while staying at the Crowne Plaza. The brunch was good, but not great and way overpriced ($20/person for the buffet on Sunday). The highlight was the made-to-order omelet station, which they will deliver to your table so you don't have to stand around waiting for it. I'm a little confused as to why it was called the Sunday Jazz Brunch. It was Sunday, there was brunch, but I didn't hear any jazz. Maybe if they had some live music, it would be worth the price.

Dine is cleverly hidden next to the Crowne Plaza hotel. I'm glad my friend knew where it was, or we may have missed it altogether. The Yelp party was well-attended and my friends and I met some cool people. The appetizers were pretty yummy, especially the duck confit (I must've eaten about 10) and red velvet cupcakes (ditto). I'll have to check out their entrees and other drink selections sometime.

Yes, the calamari was good. It really, really was delicious. BUT, I cannot give this place more than 2 stars. My biggest problem was with the wait staff. A member of our party ordered a pasta dish - no specific instructions given. It came to our table and she (meekly) said, "This is a little salty." Her bf tasted it and almost coughed it up on the table. So of course the rest of us tried it. It was INSANE - so so so salty. We thought there had to be some sort of problem! When the waiter finally came over we told him that perhaps a salt shaker had fallen in and he replied ... this is a direct quote ... "Yeah, our chef over salts everything. He thinks you should salt food for the palate of a 65 year old smoker." GAH! First off - gross. Second - TMI buddy, TMI ... if that's some secret kitchen lingo, keep it to yourself, b/c it just put me off my cod ...

I couldn't make it to the party on Thursday, but did check out DINE after reading all the reviews on Yelp. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and thought it was the perfect spot for a date. I also called late on a Friday afternoon and they were able to fit me in right away- we all know that rarely happens with restaurants in Chicago. We started with some of the best calamari I've ever had. For my entree I had the salmon, which was very good, and my date had the cod, which she enjoyed as well. We also got a side of mac & cheese- this was no Kraft mac & cheese! Of course we tried the red velvet cake for dessert - couldn't miss out on that after reading these reviews. It lived up to it's reputation.

Dine was a great place to have the latest Yelp event! The restaurant was big and the bar area large enough to allow all us yelpers to hang out, without being too crowded. The arnold palmer drinks they served were great, but I can't say enough about the red velvet cake. Seriously, it was so good, i had to have a few of the mini cupcakes! The other appetizers were good as well, but I think the cake is definitely what will be bringing me back! I can't stop thinking about it and wanting more!

I read all the fabulous Dine reviews weeks ago and took my aunt there when she was visiting about 2 weeks ago. We loved it! Then I went back for the party last night and had an amazing time again! I've been to about 4 yelp parties so far and this was definitely my favorite. I agree with all the reviews that the red velvet cake is a must if you have dine at DINE!

I have one thing to say - red velvet cup cakes - Out of this world! I was totally impressed by those and the other appetizers as well that I tasted during last month's Yelp fiesta. I can not wait to try Dine for dinner this weekend! As it is right down the street from my office, I'm sure it will become a favorite local option for us as well.

I'm just getting around to finally reviewing Yelp's party at Dine a few weeks ago. Overall, very impressed with the space at Dine. It's a very large restaurant (bigger than most chicago restaurants) so there was plenty of room for everyone. I agree with all the reviews that the food (red velvet cake- delicious) and drinks were great. The service was good as well. I'm looking forward to trying Dine on my own sometime soon.

We went here last night and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Everyone was very nice to us, and the food was delicious! I had the chicken with "dumplings" which was sooooo good, I definitely recommend it . I also got a side of the baked macaroni and cheese to try which is good as well! My boyfriend ate the salmon and he loved it. Even though we had no room, we just had to get dessert. We split the banana cream pie - the best I've ever had! It was soooo delicious, we almost wanted to order another :-) I really don't understand why Dine doesn't get more business on Saturday nights - I really hope people will find out about it and give it a try. We're definitely going back soon!

If you haven't been to Dine yet, you must try it as soon as you can! It's absolutely amazing. I went there today for lunch today and was so impressed that I have to give it 5 stars. The calamari appetizer is excellent and the chicken and dumplings is extremely tasty. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great. If you can save room for dessert, the red velvet cake is phenomenal- absolutely fantastic!

Ugh...how can people like this place. The only thing good about it is a cool interior. I've tried this place on three occasions and have been disappointed on all three. The crabcakes taste like it was last month's left over crab. I literally had to to spit it out into my napkin. There is no way I could swallow it. On another occasion I stuck with the burger. Even this they couldn't get right. My "medium" was so bloody that the bottom bun was too red and soggy to pick up and the fries were turning red from all the blood. When I showed the waitress she brought it back to the chef and I could hear him bitching about it being a "perfect" medium. (So much for the customer is always right attitude). Of course when it came back, the burger was charred beyond recognition...and it was still on the soggy red bun. The waitress offered to get different burger but I already lost my appetite. There are too many good restaurants in the west loop to waste your time at this poorly run hotel restaurant.

I just tried Dine for the first time after hearing great things about it and it lived up to expectations. Very cute atmosphere and I really enjoyed my Mac & Cheese. Great drinks as well.

After having a hard time finding this place, and then being confused by the Valet service and deciding to park at a meter, we made it to Dine! It was my fourth Yelp outing and I very much enjoyed Dine's hospitality and decor. The couches were comfy. The Arnold Palmers were strong and went down far too easy. The red velvet cupcakes were as top notch as a cupcake can be. Honestly, I think having an entire piece of said cake would have put me into a sugar coma, so it's good they were presented in tiny form. The mini grilled cheese were the only thing that was average. The duck confit placed upon apple atop a hard bread (possibly rye?) was pretty tasty, but the one thing I would have liked to have more than one of was the duck confit puffs which was out of this world delicious. I ended up hovering around the food and checking the waiters plates for them. No more were brought out before we left. Curses! Looks like I'll be required to go back and dine at dine so I can fully experience it!

I loved everything about Dine from the adorable atmosphere to the delicious food and drinks! The appetizers were so good that after chatting w/ people for an hour my friends and I decided to get a table outside and have some dinner. We ordered a bunch of other appetizers...a shrimp appetizer (SO good), chips and guacamole (Amazing) and the bruchetta (a little on the hard side, but very tasty as well). Sign me up for the next Yelp event!
