An afternoon flight means missing lunch hour and finding closed restaurants on a Saturday afternoon. Cosi was the only thing open nearby and was enough to curb hunger before dinner time. I munched on a turkey and Brie sandwich. It was bland. Obviously when starving, it suffices. It's like a panera but organic and not as rich in taste. The interior was beautiful and spacious and the staff were all ladies that were nice and polite.

My buddy and I went here for a quick bite. As per any restaurant in the loop, this place was packed. I'm not sure if it was because of the delicious aroma of fresh bread or the the torrential downpour that was causing the masses inside Cosi. I like to think of this place as a fancier Panera. The menu is vast and has a great variety of healthy options. I decided to go with the Chicken Pesto Melt. It was delicious. The bread is melt in your mouth gold. This starchy god held together grilled chicken covered in pesto, cheese, and tomato. It was on point. I will absolutely be back...and get fat.

Cosi is a chain that offers sandwiches, melts, salads, soups, and other coffee beverages. I am a fan of their S'mores dessert experience iwhere it comes with a tabletop fire pit, a chocolate bar, graham crackers, and big marshmallows to make your own s'mores! You can share it between 2 people, or even up to 4 for just a light snack. No need to start a bonfire, looking for sticks, and purchasing all the ingredients - they do that all for you! Not all Cosi locations have these as it depends on their fire code, but if you do get a chance to try it, it's a cute and fun experience! :D +S'mores dessert

Dined in here once before and recent had squagels delivered to our office. Squagels are square bagels and they are amazing! They have several different flavors to choose from. If you can't eat it all since they are big, I do not recommend putting them in the fridge for too long since they get rock hard. However, you can microwave them for a 30 seconds and they are good again. Definitely will try them again for lunch or breakfast.

I love Cosi and try to avoid this location but it's hard because it's by my work! Service during the lunch rush is almost always pretty awful. The line to place an order moves quick but receiving your food takes 10-15 minutes. You're stuck standing around in a large group of hungry people while frantic waitstaff tries to dodge you. It's just a mess. On a positive note, I love most of their sandwiches and the Shanghai salad is my favorite. Their squagels are delicious but I don't like how the coffee tastes. I've never tried their pizza but really want to! I just learned that this location has it.

Wallet theft at Cosi. DO NOT go to this Cosi and do NOT dine in. I am now one of five people I know who have had their wallet stolen out of their zipped purse while having lunch at this location. My co-worker and I both had our wallets taken out of our bags which were zipped and hanging on our chairs. I am sure there are more victims out there. The manager (Fabiola Hernandez) specifically told us they are aware of the reoccurring wallet theft, think they know who it is and that the security cameras do not cover the tables by the wall we were sitting. Yet they have done nothing to address the issue? Seems very odd to me, is it an inside job? We have filed a police report and called Cosi to give them the information but they have not returned our calls. Just wanted to warn others if you're thinking about sitting down for lunch don't do it at this location.

I grabbed lunch here with a friend when I was visiting Chicago. It was a nice, quick place for a bite. Not sure if I would go there again though. It wasn't very memorable.

I have been to this location multiple times to order the Adobo Lime Chicken salad. Over the past 3 times I have ordered the salad, I was given no chicken and the remainder of the salad was drowned it salad dressing, making it nearly inedible. Don't worry, you still get charged full price for receiving a salad without the main ingredient LISTED IN THE NAME? How one forgets to put the chicken in is beyond me. I will not be going back.

It's been awhile since I've been to one of these places. Their bread is awesome and like a teddy bear -- warm, soft, and delicious. For a healthy freak like me, they have just the right amount of choices. I ordered the "Turkey & Brie" sandwich with carrot sticks. 32g of protein aint too shabby. Not sure where the 7g of saturated fat is from, but oh wells. Anywho, this is not a nutritional facts review, although their website does cater to those who are. Just check it out at their website. The sandwich was very delicious and the spicy mustard that came with it gave it the zing that I need since I'm so tired of chicken at this point. Price wasn't too bad for downtown -- $7, and I was full for most of the day.

Cosi is still pretty dependable when it comes to salads and sandwiches. Nice staff always at this location around lunch time as well. Salads are sizeable and squished into little plastic bowls which are sometimes a little fully/tough to eat from. Bread is delicious.

Fail on multiple levels 1. Google offer for buy one get one is not in the system, so had to call a manager over to override the order. 2. ordered one sandwich, got one free, or so i thought. Cashier put in one sandwich and one Cesar salad. 3. Was given a Plain Cesar Salad and NO sandwich at all! of course my order was to go so i don't notice till i walk all the way back to my office that i have overpaid for a plain salad. this store is in the heart of the loop, and should be able to get an order done QUICKLY, and ACCURATELY. That's all i ask. It was 130 and it was not crazy like it is at 12:15. Forced Diet, i didn't ask for. maybe i do need to go to the gym OK OKAY i get the hint! (the other sandwich was for sharing by the way).

Found: Another one of those Coca-Cola Freestyle machines! Nowhere else can I get Diet Fanta Cherry soda in the loop (that I know of yet) so that makes me happy.

Great Cosi location! Service was super quick, there's a great mix of seating such as couch-booths, tables, and more. Signature salad is my go-to at Cosi. Wasn't a fan of the new one-person-at-a-time touch screen Coke dispenser. Aren't we trying to touch less things in public? Also, since the previous gentleman had Orange soda (wtf, are we six?), my Coke tasted like some weird cough syrup. Downtown Worker Bees and to my three Stalkers, you'll see me here lots!

Amazing pizza! I was craving apple pie, only place in the loop that seemed to have any. Portions are huge. I wanted some ice cream on my pie but they don't serve ice cream, so the next best thing they do pile on tops of whip cream. Girl who helped me told me she was new but she knew exactly what she was doing. Her service reflected good training.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. In fact, I think there should be an option to give negative stars. I want to start off by saying that I gave this place a shot nine times. Seven times I tried to get coffee, and twice I tried to get food. Of the seven times I went for coffee, six of those times they messed it up, and of the two times I went to get food, they messed it up both times. Coffee: I am lactose intolerant. Flat out. I am also NOT want of those people that customizes every single aspect of a coffee drink (so no half caff grande 1/2 pump vanilla 1/2 pump chocolate 180 degree 3/4 whole 1/4 soy 1 sugar caramel mocha garbage). I do mochas with soy...sometimes hot sometimes iced. That's it. Four of the times, they had to remake because they didn't do it with soy, one time they forgot the espresso, and one time they forgot the syrup. Half of the time if I asked for iced, they made it hot and vice versa. The only time they made it correctly is when I WROTE IT OUT ON PAPER...but this only worked once because the SECOND time I went in with my order WRITTEN OUT (one iced mocha, one iced mocha with soy), he ALMOST made it hot even AFTER READING the order and his coworker said "OH NO ICED!" AND THEN he couldn't tell which was whole milk and which was soy when he handed it to us. I'm sorry, but if you READ an order that a customer had to write out because you guys messed it up so many times AND STILL MESS IT UP, that's pretty bad. I worked at Starbucks for 2 years making the most unholy ridiculous drinks known to man (1/3 eggnog, 1/3 heavy whipping cream, 1/3 soy milk 140 degree latte anyone?), and these guys can't even take one simple mod to a drink. I tried cutting them slack because yeah they're not Starbucks, but if you can't make WHAT'S ON YOUR MENU, THEN DON'T SELL IT. Au Bon Pain ALSO doesn't specialize in coffee (and they're also less than 1/2 the cost), but I've never had an issue with them. It's really just absurd. Food: Trip 1: I ordered soup and got mac and cheese. The Mac and Cheese was slimy and flavorless. Trip 2: We ordered bagels that we wanted EXTRA TOASTED (even told the cashier TWICE to toast them) because their bagels are obnoxiously raw and doughy on the inside according to my friend, and they wrapped up our bagels untoasted. We had to go back and say "we wanted these toasted" and the line person literally had no clue that we wanted them toasted. When I took a bite of the bagel, it was one of the worst things I've put in my mouth. Very little flavor and the inside, despite being double toasted, was almost like raw dough. Very gooey and quite disgusting. I don't think this is an issue of communication between co-workers because honestly I've had the cashier take my order, try to make it, and STILL mess it up. I only come here because of the proximity to where I work and it's cheaper than ROM across the street, but now it's boiling down to just spending that extra $1.50 to go ROM because at least they can take a simple mod like ADDING SOY to coffee. As far as food, the two times of them messing it up was enough for me. I think the only reason this place is so busy is because of its location. A lot of people who work in the building will go there. I gave it my nine tries and I'm over it. I've thrown almost $100 at these people (it's usually myself and a friend) and pretty much $90 was a total waste.

I come here for their parfait every morning before I go to work. They put a lot of strawberries in their parfait! They even have some granola, strawberries and all kinds of nuts by the counter in case you want to add more!! Sometimes I would come here for lunch as well. I love their Korean pulled bbq pork bowl! It taste so good and they make it so healthy by not drowning it with a ton of sauce!

update because I was happy to see they got rid of the one order taker girl who looked like someone shit in her cheerios every day of her life and i have tasted and fallen head over heels for the red pepper sausage fritatta on a bagel sandwich. it's ridiculously fattening i'm sure, but it can be brunch easily for like 3.00. my only tips are that i really think they need to re-work their coffee/creamer station (you now serve yourself - think au bon pain) because it's stuck in the corner and people (including me) get irritated when they can't move out of someone's way because there are tables that butt right up to this area. it just wasn't thought out well. i asked one day why they don't have coffee stirrers. i was told they were "trying to cut back and save money".... really? so you lose the buck a box stirrers? strange.

Was feeling sick today and there wasn't a Panera to be found for some good soup and a healthy sandwich. But I found Cosi and I was very happy I did. Had the 1/2 and 1/2 deal. They should really display this better on their menu above. The cashier recommended this as I looked confused ordering a full soup and sandwich. So thank you! Got the sausage and rice soup today and the italian sandwich. Perfect meal if you're looking for something hearty to help you get over a cold when winter weather is coming up. Tasted great and I felt bettered soon after. I will be back again!

The cashier lady was kind of a rude twat, but the margherita pizza was yummy and cheap! My and my friend are a fan of this spot. Plus, it's near my job, so I can't help but love the convenience.

This place is right next to my work. I like to stop in for a squagle on some days. Most of the time the cashiers are cranky. Lunch is okay.

I go here all the time as it's right by my office. Can't stop myself from eating the free bread samples they have out during the busy lunch hour. Seriously, their bread is one thing that keeps luring me in as I walk by. I love their tomato aurora soup, the Italian sausage and peppers flatbread, and their prosciutto and roasted veggie melt. Guys I go with for lunch here sometimes complain about the portion size, but I think it's just right. Also, I think the prosciutto and roasted veggie melt is especially filling as I got it yesterday when I was really hungry and left feeling pretty full.

Their flat bread is delicious and addicting! An added bonus, they offer free hot and fresh samples while you wait for your lunch to be ready. They have a sizable menu with many sandwich and salad choices. As they are in the heart of the financial district, the workers are like machines just cranking out tons of lunch order. 4 stars for great menu, delicious food, fast and efficient service. If you are in a rush to grab lunch to go, stop by here.

Absolutely terrible. Checked out the menu on the front of the store. It said that they did serve wine, and they did do the smores.. I go inside to order ask for a small cheese pizza the wine and the smores, and they said that they don't have all of the equipment for the smores to be made and that they don't have wine. When I said forget it the woman told me in a incredibly rude attitude "are your sure you want to leave?" My answer, yes absolutely. I really don't appreciate it when you advertise things you don't even have.

I've never eaten at a Cosi, so I was not sure what to expect from the food here. I was lured here by a "buy one - get one free" coupon, so let's find out. I placed my order to go after work, so the place was very cozy indeed for the few stragglers hanging out here (I imagine the mood is quite more harried during peak lunch hours). The Bombay Chicken salad had these reddish chicken pieces that did not remind me at all of Indian food, though the salad seemed healthy enough with red peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes in the mix. The salad came with a piece of chewy multi-grain flatbread. The Cosi Club sandwich was decent, with bacon that barely added any flavor to it. A small bag of crunchy chips came with the sandwich. I'd try Cosi again, but I would again need a coupon to lure me in. Perhaps flatbread pizza next time??

I was a bit nervous when my work friend suggested this place one day for lunch. I was thinking it was some crazy out there type of food. I debated between a salad and a sandwich. Salad? Sandwich? Salad? Sandwich? Well, I've been dying for chicken caesar salads non-stop as of late, salad it is! The pleasant woman behind the counter then threw a huge cork to my plan. She was asking me all these questions about some multi-grain thing. Huh? I thought I ordered a salad?! Well, she was asking what type of bread I went with it, ohhhhh, okay, gotcha! The flat bread that came with the salad was HUGE and piping hot. It was so awesome. The salad was pretty normal fare. The chocolate chip cookie was awesome as well. It was quick, efficient and great. I will definitely be going back there.

Two of were charged $24 for lunch. One wrong salad order was wrong a second time on re-delivery. How do you screw this up? The staff is just worthless. And this location and the one on N Dearborn have been getting progressively worse over the years. Missing ingredients, etc. Find someplace else.

Cosi is quite delicious. Though a tad pricey for lunch (if you are like me and are trying to save money), it satisfies the healthy eater in me. Their salads are very good, and you'll find yourself craving their signature bread. I had a great hummus and veggie sandwhich. There are a lot of options to try, so I will always be up for Cosi for lunch.

I love the bread from Cosi! It's all salty and buttery and I love eating it. How can people give up carbs? I don't get it! I should get a tattoo that says "CARBS 4 LIFE!" Anyway, about this Cosi location - When I looked up info and saw people saying this was the busiest spot in downtown I got a little put off, but I had already agreed to meet my husband there for a bite to eat. I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly the lines moved and it only took a few minutes to get up to the front and order. Although ordering is easy enough, I still think the area where people wait around for their carry out could be better because it blocks the soda fountain and people just stand in your way as you try to maneuver around them. I really like the tandoori chicken sandwich, and the sesame ginger chicken is good as well. The price is a dollar or two more than I would like to spend, but I guess it's to be expected downtown.

Better mozzarella sandwiches than Panera. No more or less expensive than any other quick causal joint nowadays.

I work across the street so when I don't bring my lunch, I stop by Cosi. I like this place because everything is fresh and the service is super fast. Even if the line is almost out the door, you won't be waiting for more than 10 min to place the order. Sometimes I don't know how to work so fast! I usually order either the: Sesame Ginger Chicken sandwich Sesame chicken breast, carrots & shredded romaine. OR Shanghai Chicken salad Grilled chicken breast and crispy Asian noodles with carrots and scallions over mixed greens. Tossed with low-fat ginger soy dressing. The salad comes with yummi flatbread, which is the best part of the place! I get the whole grain bread but either is good. Prices can be a tad high (around ~$7/sandwich) so I don't eat here often!

Good spot, I've been known to snatch some hummus and veggies after the gym...shhh tell no one! Only getting 3 stars because I haven't had enough of their food to accurately judge them.

I went in there for breakfast after an appointment, having some time to kill. Not being a big fan of chains, I expected to not really like it. Around 10 am, it was empty, service was friendly (he gave me the key to the bathroom even before knowing I was going to order), and the place was very clean. I had an omelet sandwich with tomato and mozzarella on a cranberry orange bagel. Such a yummy bagel! and the price was very good. When I am in the area again, I would go back.

If you've heard of the term soup and sandwich place, this is more of a sandwich that happens to have soup place. What sets Cosi apart from other lunch time options is a delicious variety of sandwiches served on white or whole grain flat bread. The salads are also a strong alternative. The soup selection is quite limited to two daily staples and a soup of the day. That being said, I happen to enjoy their rendition of Tomato Basil. You will get a side of baby carrots or chips with most meals. Although you will enjoy most meals on the menu, you will get a nagging aftertaste of "I feel like I should have paid a little bit less, or gotten a little bit more". As a Loop Lunch Location, you will experience long lines. Although it may appear to be efficiently organized, you will often experience some confusion waiting for your order to be completed after you've paid for it. It doesn't quite seem to matter if you go when it is busy or not. There is adequate seating given the size of this location, but you shouldn't expect to get it easily depending on the size of your group. The rating is more for food taste and quality than LLL efficiency. If you are in a hurry or looking for a reasonable everyday value, there are other places that fit the bill.

  • Laura H.

Cosi's bread is pretty awesome... and they even put scraps out for you to munch on whilst waiting for your order. I decided to review cosi since I just went there for lunch and apparently they have added a second bread option--- whole grain. It's quite similar to the original, but I found it not quite as salty, which was disappointing. I'm pretty much in a constant state of dehydration thanks to marathon training, and I'm always craving salt. But, overall the whole grain bread is pretty tasty. Yes, Cosi is a bit pricey for a sandwich or salad, but if you read the RedEye regularly, you can probably find a two dollars off coupon to bring with you.

This is a pretty nice option for lunchtime, especially if you're getting bored with your usual fare. I've only had the sandwiches but they have all been very tasty. The lighting and seating in the restaurant is good and the place is very clean. Service is adequate.

Great place to go for a quick salad after a workout next door for lunch, except their service is downright terrible. I got there at 1:45 with no line. Took someone 3 minutes to come and take my order. Now I am waiting for my order, two people are in front of me waiting impatiently and clearly you can see 12 employees, and 5 of them doing any type of work. The other 7, not to sure except I guess making an hourly wage, but I really couldn't tell you what they were doing except making me think I would rather go some where else next time I want what should be a quick order of a salad.

Wow, that was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant downtown. Cosi failed on every front. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich to go, a fairly simple request by my estimation. Upon ordering, the woman at the cash register asked if I would prefer hot or cold chicken in my sandwich. I requested hot and made sure to state that the order was to go. I waited about 7 minutes for my order, which was fine considering it was the middle of the lunch rush. They called my number and handed me a tray with my order. I informed them that the order was to go and they took another few minutes to pack it up in a bag. Not the end of the world I thought. I got back to my office and opened my order to find the chicken in my sandwich was cold. I was slightly annoyed considering this was the second failure in my order. Immediately after noticing the cold chicken, I realized the sandwich they provided wasn't what I ordered at all! It was a pesto chicken sandwich! I was amazed, they had failed on every aspect of my order. The fact that they are overpriced just added insult to injury. Next time you're looking for lunch downtown, look ANYWHERE but the Cosi on the corner of Monroe and Wells.

One of the busiest lunch spots in the near-West Loop I know besides Potbelly's on Adams/Wacker! But Cosi started forming 2 lines to place an order, and it doesn't take a long time to get through the line; it is, however, hard to get a seat. The food is decent, doesn't really fill me up, but I've only tried salads and sandwiches. I love the Cosi bread, and they just started making wheat bread which tastes similar but not as salty. It is a healthy alternative to fast food!

  • Elena D.

Okay, so once you review one store in a chain, you've reviewed 'em all. I like Cosi's salty bread, their signature salads are delish. Regardless of which particular branch I patronize, however, the employees always seem rushed and frazzled, whether there're a lot of people present or not. Hmm.

    (4)
  • Josh ..

Nice lunch option in the heart of the loop. Typically end up here when the line is too long at other alternatives. Right next door is a miniature Trotters-to-Go. Same as all the other Cosi's.....

    (3)
  • Michelle B.

Cosi is good. I especially like their salads. Although a word of warning you should check out the nutrition information on their website as most of their sandwiches have loads of calories....some over 700. So, it's hardly a healthy option.

  • M M.

Alright, I love Cosi and this place is so close to my work so you really can't beat it. Lines appear to be long, but they move very quickly. Staff is very efficient and everytime I've gone with a group to sit down we've found a seat! I love their signature salad, and I get that everytime I go (with extra chicken of course). They have messed up my order once (put dressing on it when I didn't want any) but that is forgivable for the number of times I've been!

    (4)
  • Megan H.

Cosi is very convenient for me, as I work on Monroe & Franklin. They have great breakfast sandwiches and I love the toasted bagel, so yummy! I've also had their strawberry lemonade smoothie (which doesn't look a THING like the pictures, it's actually creamy purplish looking) and it was really good! The service is pretty decent, but the workers seem a little distant/somewhat rude.

  • Madelyn H.

it's fine. the food is fine. nothing too exciting though. there's kind of a weird set up when you order and get your food. the two times i've been, there's always lots of confusion on how/where to order and stand or sit. seems like they need a new format. i had the thanksgiving sandwich which had way too much cranberry sauce. the next time i went i had some soup which was fine. i'll probably end up going back for lunch because there aren't that many food options around my office, but i really wish there were.

I used to love Cosi Cobb salads, but this was years ago. Got one the other day, and it was way too oily, and not chunky like a Cobb salad ought to be. And expensive. Meh.

In a nutshell, if you liked burnt bagels, mediocre over priced food, and wallet theft the this is your place! As a previous reviewer posted, my friend also had her wallet stolen out of her purse during lunch. Also DO NOT use your credit or debit card there because I've had several charges appear from Cosi and I hadn't been there on that day! Over the past few years, this place has had several different managers and crews so I knew it was/is a problematic location. I will say that the staff is friendly but the food really is not that good and they have thieves working there. I only go there when it's raining or snowing outside because I work in the same building it's located.

This Cosi is around the corner from my office, so on soup-and-salad days, especially in winter, I find myself there a lot. It's a suitable location but not one of the better Cosis I've been too. If you've never been to Cosi, there's no lack of choices or distinctive and original sandwiches, salads and more compared to most order and sit down sandwich cafes. The brick-oven flatbread also helps it stand out The biggest pro of this location is it's large. Great for coffee or lunch dates. I've never had an issue with the service here or any problems with my food, which I can't say of all my lunch rush places. On the con side, I find the flatbread sandwiches here to always feel a bit more thrown-together than other Cosi experiences I've had. The bread on my melts never crisps up the way I've had it at other locations. Also, it gets chaotic waiting for your food to go. There's no great location so everyone gathers around the workers there like a pack of hungry dogs. I don't love going here, but it meets my immediate needs and expectations.
