I don't often review big chain places, but I wanted to make sure to give the management and staff some props about this location. During a recent Chicago visit, I had to find a place to hunker down for a few hours to work. I wandered the area for a bit and stumbled upon CBC. I was enthusiastic welcomed when I entered and the chatted me up while taking the order. Very friendly and helpful. The food was good and coffee (iced and hot) were tasty. There were plenty of tables for working, though not all of the power strips worked. I will def head back there the next time I am in the area and need an "office" for a few hours. Good job!

Meet Me At The Corner! I used to frequent Corner Bakery back in the day before it was discovered that refined carbs were the root evil of modern day society & I jumped onboard & went on an extended bread/simple carb hiatus. But after going through a personal, traumatic event last summer, I decided life's too short not to eat the occasional cookie, muffin, cake or other refined carb o'choice. Moderation not abstinence is the key to a gem life-style! In fact, I'm a tad less cranky after some simple carbs before the inevitable carb-crash lol! There used to be a CB in Orland Park, a SW burb o'Chicago that I used to eat at but it went outta biz a long time ago. So as I was walking in downtown Chicago, CB caught my eye & I decided to give it a re-try to break my fast. This CB is in fact on a corner, a very busy, golden corner located on 1121 N State Street between Rush & Cedar in the Gold Coast in Chicago, IL. This CB is the same set-up as the CBs I used to frequent: you stand in line & place your order, get a number to display on your table, pick your table or booth & someone brings you your food order. There is a self-serve drink machine & coffee is also from self-serve pumps. There are like 3 different variety of coffees. I went with a cup of Cafe Europa, CB's dark roast. It was nice & bold & surprisingly pipin' hot for pump coffee! I used to mainly eat at CB for lunch or as an afternoon snack when I worked across the street from the CB by the Daley Center in the Loop but this visit was breakfast time, so I went with a scrambler. I don't remember if these guys were on the menu the last time I went to CB cuz I would just get bakery items, the soup, salad and/or sammie combos & the occasional heaven help me, bread bowl! I picked the Farmer's Scrambler and asked for a sub o'egg whites (no charge, yay!) which was scrambied with mushrooms & diced, red peppers & held the onions & cheese. It was a decent-sized portion scrambler & tasted fine but the egg-whites were flat & dense, not soft & fluffy like I prefer. However, kudos to CB for even offering & not charging extra for egg whites at a fast-casual restaurant! FYI: The scrambler entrees at CB are served with toast & your choice of oven-roasted breakfast potatoes or fresh fruit. Normally, I would make the obvious, healthy choice & pick the fresh fruit but I'm at Corner "Bakery" people & it's been awhile & I was feelin' bad & carby! So when asked which side I wanted between potatoes or fruit, me being the pain I am, said, "um is there anyway I could get one of those delicious-looking, sugar cookies in place of both of my sides" & CB cashier was like "you don't want the toast or potatoes?!" So I got my egg white scrambler sans half the listed ingredients & sugar cookie too, no charge!! Bada-bing, thanks lady! That cookie was big, soft, & sweet as you, the sweet part that is! And the egg whites balance out the cookie, right?! Anyway, the breakfast menu at CB is pretty extensive for a fast-casual place. There are a variety of breakfast paninis, other scramblers, steel-cut oatmeal, and of course all the standard bakery items you can grab on-the-go such as bagels, muffins, cookies, pastries, etc. This CB is popular & busier than a lotta the other CBs in Chicago given its location in the Gold Coast, but the staff does a good job at getting the lines through fairly fast & getting the food orders out in a reasonable time. This CB is large with lotsa tables but at peak breakfast hour, every table was full with people just waitin' to snatch up your seat. I would recommend makin' CB a stop in your breakfast or lunch rotation if you're near this location or any CB if you wanna nice, fast-casual meal with a variety o'options but don't have time for a full-blown, full-service 4 or 5 gem meal. (If you're unfamiliar with CB, it's very similar to Panera Bread. PBs aren't in the City though. PBs have taken over the burbs, boo! There are 3 PB locations in Orland Park & personally I miss CB. I think CB is a lil nicer & has a better variety & quality of food over PB). For fast-casual, I'd say Corner Bakery is 4 gems for offering gemmy breakfast & lunch options; supa, hot coffee; egg whites (albeit flat), nonetheless no charge & accommodating, quick service. So give in to your carb cravin' & go to the Corner & treat yourself to somethin' yummy from the Bakery!

I come here way too much, as it is really close to my work. At 7 am the doors open and the muffins are literally hot out of the oven. I have tried the banana muffin, the blueberry and the chocolate. They are all to die for! Seriously so good, of course eating them fresh and hot helps. As far as lunch foods, I love the combos and they have a great soup/ sandwich combo. I love the panini, namely the club panini. The Chicken Pomodori panini is also fantastic. This is not a fancy place but it gives me what I want. Now, if they just had the sour dough bread bowls like at Panera they would be perfect! I have never had a service issue here and the employees are always friendly.

Breakfast was good, coffee was good, and the morning old school disco mix was great. I was unfortunately really disappointed that the only jelly available was strawberry jam; no grape jelly. I hope this a reflection of an employee's laziness of only opening and stocking one type of jelly, and not a statement on the lack of jelly diversity at Corner Bakery. I'd give one star for this but the morning disco holds my rating at 4 stars. Please stock grape jelly!

The food is so warm and toasty~. In the winter days, this place is a nice place to sit in and warm up. I like the soups and sandwiches. If you want to enjoy a book or do some work with a cup of coffee or light meal this is the place to go! It's also nice to come here with a friend to catch up. I love the booths and stay as long as you want feel. Like everyone else is saying, it is like a panera but a bit more intimate. More cozy than a panera I think.

Where is the parmesean crusted chicken ? We stopped for a quick lunch because of that entree. It wasn't on their menu! So bummed.

This location is by far better servicewise and tastewise than many of the other Corner Bakery's I've been to in the Chicagoland area. On National Smile Day, breakfast was quick, fresh and delicious. The eggs and roasted potatoes here tasted as good as a full service restaurant, and perhaps even better than some. So excited to have a smile mug for $.25 coffees for a full year!

Sad to see this location closing....good staff and a great manager, Monique Moore - who has been on and off at this location for a number of years. As a regular in the neighborhood, this is one of my daily stops for a quick breakfast to go. Throughout the years, Mo-Mo has been a friendly and extremely competent presence in the restaurant. Every time she is working, i know my catering orders will be done exactly right. Sad to see ya go, Monique !

Staff could not be nicer! Such a friendly greeting. Very generous egg dishes for the very reasonable cost. Twice this week we were almost first there @ 7 am so found it strange that eggs were piping hot and bacon cold! One day charged 50 cents for butter on bagel another day no charge and butter available at station. Still these are minor issues. Baked goods delicious, service speedy.

I came here for a quick breakfast this weekend while staying at my friend's around the corner. I was impressed by the quantity and quality of my Anaheim Scrambler for $7. It's like a cross between fast food and full service (one step above Panera's pick your own tray up set-up). That allowed me to order my food quick, found myself a table and get my silverwares ready for the chow down, and the server brought out the food without too much of a delay. The roasted potato was delicious. I very much liked the bacon bites in the scrambler. Good amount of avocado on top. And excellent butter (gold foil land o'lakes butter) for the toast. There is an outdoor patio, which on a nice day like Saturday would be ideal to sit and chill. This is a great cheap breakfast option. I was hoping to eat local and not chain, but I was happy with my decision. Now, if I can have one in my hometown.

compared to most corner bakeries this one by far is the best. food comes out nice and hot (not greasy and sloppy like the other corner bakeries). it's presentable and good. and the service is great. today, i was people watching and noticed the server Joshua. so pleasant and well mannered. such a hard worker.

The French Toast was heavenly. It is a must when visiting the Gold Coast. Make sure your sausage patties are thoroughly cooked. Mine were cold.

The staff here is really friendly. The manager Felicia is a sweet heart and has a great memory. I always see her talking to customers and motivating staff. Food is Good. as expected. I ussually get the half moon ravioli with pesto as opposed to the marinera....love.

When you walk into Corner Bakery, it sort of reminds you of what Panera used to be back in their heyday, but at a more personal level. It doesn't feel as assembly line-like, but it has a cozy touch where you can sit back on your laptop and relax. You do have the Pancake House just around the corner, but when you don't want to deal with the lines and you're looking for a quasi-fast food, no-hassle meal, this is the place to go. After you put your order up at the counter, you are given a number, where you can then grab your drink and then find a seat. A waiter will bring your meal out when it's ready, similar to when you order a personal sized pizza at Panera. We came here for breakfast, and I wound up ordering the Anaheim Panini ($4.49) which consists of eggs, bacon, tomato, onions, avocado, and cheddar on sourdough bread. The presentation of the sandwich is bare and minimal, simply a sandwich on a plate. It was light but actually quite delicious. It is fairly priced, but if you're looking for something a bit more substantial, I'd choose something larger. Otherwise, this sandwich is an excellent choice to get your day started. The Commuter Croissant ($4.79) is another excellent choice to start the day. It is served with scrambled eggs, smoked bacon, tomatoes, and cheddar. It's another good sandwich with just the right amount of saltiness from the bacon, and tartness from the tomatoes, making for a balanced meal. If your time is short in Chicago and you're looking for something a little more unique, I'd venture elsewhere, but if you're looking for a nice spot to relax, the Corner Bakery is a perfect spot to kick back.

The worst corner bakery I have been to. Very poor customer service. Whoever Edna and Lisa are-do not care whatsoever about the customers. Called to let them know that they made a mistake on the order-not a big deal. Just wanted to know how to get my credit for next time. While on the phone-one of the two mentioned above got angry that I wasn't agreeing with her right away in the midst she gave me extreme attitude and hung up the phone hastily. That's no way to treat a customer. Terrible employees.

I came in on August 6, 2014. I had worst service ever and they messed up my order after I waited 15 full minutes for a half sandwich and small side salad. 6 people working and they could not figure out this small simple order. Not going back.

The staff here is extremely friendly, especially one of their managers Felicia. She is so attentive and if you're a regular here she's always happy to see you back. My favorite dish here has to be the pesto cavatoppi! Cavatoppi noodles in pesto sauce with grilled chicken and bread crumbs sprinkled on top, absolutely delicious!!

I liked the ambiance of this place. Busy, hustling downtown chicago eatery, however I tend to like the smaller, independent restos. This place had a "big box" feeling to it which doesn't suit me. Although I only got a coffee, it seemed as though there were an abundance of food options, and saw several people getting panini sandwiches. Perhaps I should've tried one? Anyways, that aside, the coffee was just "okay". Not sure if I'd go out of my way to return.

This place was close to our hotel, so I went here to get a quick lunch for my daughter. They had a nice half-moon ravioli with marinara and a piece of garlic bread for $8.09 with tax -. It was FAST, good service (friendly checkout woman) and generous portions. They used real ricotta inside the ravs and had good parm (not the green can stuff) on top. Adding this to the list of places for lunch in Chicago under $10.

It was 27F and I was need of some soup....close to the hotel. I was about 45F degrees colder than I can handle. Corner Bakery is always quick, consistent and reasonable. There are some VERY cute places in this area, maybe I will explore more when it warms up a bit.

I love most of the food served here. The cinnamon cream crunch cake is to die for and breakfast paninis are delicious, however, after several bitchy and rude employees, I am rethinking this as my first choice. Seriously, a cashier who woke up on the wrong side of the bed practically slammed the bathroom token in my face. It's crazy enough that you have to ask for a coin to go to the bathroom but his actions were the last straw for me. So I promptly returned the coin to the manager and walked out.... This place is an option for so many tourists and I would be so embarrassed to have that jerkleg represent our city.... There are plenty of other nice people who need a job, can that guys ass......

I was having breakfast with a co-worker recently and found foreign (gross) matter in my breakfast panini. I contacted them through their feedback website and explained precisely what was in my sandwich. The "tell us how we're doing" on the receipt. They did not respond. That indicates to me that they don't care and have no interest in seeing that this does not happen to future guests. I left the cafe extremely sick to my stomach. It's unfortunate because the staff is friendly and it's 2 blocks from my home. I had no intention of yelping however my concern and inquiry was ignored.

It's a chain. It's not going anywhere because of a review or anything constructive that I may or may not say. That being said, the people here are always really nice and accommodating. In fact, I can get anything for breakfast customized--especially to include egg whites and no bacon and on the steakhouse rye bread. The coffee's abundant and fresh and the food is served hot and fresh but fast! It's a nice, easy place to grab a quick bite and be on your way. In fact, in the Gold Coast, the prices are really reasonable.

Quality of the food is very good and I like the combos with soups and salad, but I feel as if I always leave hungry. I can eat with the best of them and for a $10-$12 lunch I want to feel full. Usually pass on corner bakery for this reason.

  • Leanna S.

They have a large salad menu. I was excited to try one. I asked them to hold the tomatoes and cucumbers. I was told all of their salads are pre-mixed. I've found other places in the 'hood where I can get fresh salads.

Okay, so I frequent this place mostly because it's convenient and close, and sometimes I ask myself why I'm going here when so many amazing Chicago city restaurants are close by. However, I can't help it. It's perfect for when I need a hot cup of joe and a quick salad, sandwich, muffin, bagel, ya know. Cafe food. I've never had something I didn't like; however, I hate that the only side option is a bag of chips. I would love for a cup of fruit or even a piece of whole fruit. Last fall, I was involved in a football-tailgating-game-of-catch-disaster that resulted in a finger surgery. My boyfriend asked me what he could get me to cheer me up, and the only thing I wanted was an apricot walnut rugelach from here. Is that weird?

Horrible dry Reuben with one slice of corned beef and caesar salad drenched with dressing. Oh and it was $10. Never coming back.

  • Randall O.

Went here for breakfast. Not much for baked goods. I ordered eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast. The toast was bread, no butter. The eggs and potatoes cold, and the bacon was very cold to the point of having fat congeal on it. The yogurt and fruit was good. The coffee was good but all the creamers had in them was skim milk... Even if labeled otherwise. I won't come here again.

  • Greg M.

It's a cute place to catch breakfast but the salad menus isn't the best. My salad was kinda small and pretty expensive for what it was. That being said, a good place to stop by in the Gold Coast that overall isn't too overpriced. Very friendly service

    (4)
  • Chas R.

Average to good with large helpings of inconsistent service and food quality and an occasional burned cold piece of toast turned upside down on the plate to hide the misdeed.

Not all corner bakery cafes are created equal. This is my favorite place to finish up any work that I have. Something about this place, its spacious and the staff is extremely friendly! The free wi-fi helps...but really its all about the lemon bars! It's just a great place to grab a quick bite and get some work done. Shoot...I'd probably come here if I didn't have work to do because the soups and sandwiches are so yummy!

    (4)
  • Sara B.

Meh. But I was expecting meh. You know when you've only slept three hours, and you're hungry, and your friend's hungry, and you're walking around, and you're both getting irritated, and you keep nixing places for one silly reason or another? And then you finally, defeatedly, settle on a place that you both know is only mediocre? And mediocre it was. The service was shoddy but good enough for an order-at-the-counter, in-and-out kinda place. The food was fine -- I had a pesto panini of some sort and a latte. I'd rather eat here than at some of the d-bag exhibitions in town, but I wouldn't seek it out.

I came in here to get warm for a second.. I was going to get some soup, but decided to try something else since the menu looked delicious. The staff was really friendly and recommended some healthy options. I got the 1/2 sandwich and soup deal, which was a great price! I was going to get the California Grille panini, but I needed some meat so I ordered the Chicken Pomodori and Chicken Noodle soup. My meal came out fast and with a side of chips. So much for being healthy.. Overall, it's a cozy place to grab a bite to eat, but nothing to go out of the way for.

I have been to this location no less then one hundred times. Seriously. Probably much more. And in the last year or so I will tell you that the quality of service has ramped up and won me back as a customer. There used to be employbots who could care less about anything. NEXT. But recently I have been overwhelmed with the quality of customer service I have received at this location. Ready to walk out one day, irritated because there was no seating, the sweet and lovely manager on duty (I don't recall her name but she is tall, African American and amazing with the cutest smile and flippy hairstyle) took me to the side and Voila, in minutes there was a clean unoccupied space for me to enjoy my pasta/pesto/chicken. Another day, I was in a HORRIFIC mood (I know, hard to fathom) and Eric not only took my potato soup order before it was officially "soup time", he modified my request and had them add an little extra of my favorite topping, just because! The next week when I came in, he remembered my order, exactly the way it was the week before. 1,000+ customers later? Yeah, exactly my point. The manager, who ever she is, is an inspiration. She is sweet and kind to the little old dowagers from the well heeled 'hood and equally kind to the riff raff that stumbles in. She is charismatic and kind and seems to have her eye on the ball so much so that she noticed my non vocal irritation that day. I've had plenty of horrific experiences here, let me tell you but I really feel strongly about giving props where needed. Awesome bagels in many flavors, piping hot coffee and serve yourself softdrinks, cheery staff (even in sleeting rain), great sammies, heavenly soups and decadent sweets. Fifth star when you slip me the combo to the bathroom..............

This chain looks good when you walk in, and the menu is attractive. However I was disappointed with my food. Although it arrived quickly it was already cold. The portion was small and the food was bland. One plus is free wifi, if you just have to go online while you eat.

I am pretty sure they are under new management because my last experience was much better. Employees were polite, and prompt. Food came quickly, and they didn't even mind switching out my friend's sandwich for different bread... Definitely must be under new management.

Delicious little breakfast/lunch chain in Chicago. Twice when I visited, this was our staple breakfast place and lazy lunch place. They had this amazing granola/banana/honey thing that was on the menu one day, and off the next day. The salads were fresh and creative.

Found hair in my food, dirty table, sub par food. As I said in my other post about Corner Bakery, I do NOT understand why people like this place. It's sad because these are on almost every corner. It's so annoying.

Panera. Corner Bakery. I don't know which came first. Honestly, I don't care. 'Cause Panera has Corner Bakery blown out of the water. I've eaten at three different Corner Bakeries now, and it's been lackluster every time. Greasy sandwiches, tired salads, apathetic, adolescent staffs, dirty dining rooms. Why pay $15 for glorified Subway? P.S. An oddity worth mentioning: the pickles are wrapped in wax paper here. Mine was actually wrapped in THREE sheets, such that by the time I actually got to my pickle, my hands were soaking with pickle juice. Fun!

The food: Great! The service: Crappy! Everytime I go in I order something different. When I ask for descriptions, I can never get one!! STORY: Stef: What exactly is Carbonara sauce? Cashier: Uhhhhh... Stef: Is it spicy...? Cashier: No.... Stef: Does it have mushrooms? Cashier: No... it's just kinda a plain sauce. Stef: Okay, I'll take your plain sauce chicken pasta with a Brownie and lemonade. Good thing I can grab the lemonade myself - because it's the 2nd time they've jipped me of my brownie. I called this afternoon to speak with the GM, Chris. He was awesome and very courteous. We had a good conversation with a good outcome. I will be sure to follow up on my service here. I go here often enough to notice a change. I just try not to order anything other than the meal itself.

Corner Bakery is a great place to meet up with friends before heading to another spot -- especially in the morning. You can get either a hot breakfast or a bagel & coffee on the go. The quality of their food is much better than Starbucks and I don't feel like quite as much of Yuppie carrying around their coffee cup. :-)

I adore Corner Bakery everywhere, just not here. This place is poorly organized and ridiculously slow. My boyfriend and I came here on Saturday at 2 PM. My boyfriend ordered a chicken pomodori sandwich, but was charged for the chicken carbonara pasta. He clarified his order with the cashier, who begrudgingly went to the kitchen to change the order. She then spent over 10 minutes figuring out what to do with the extra money she owed my boyfriend. There was only one person in line before us, but I had to wait 30 minutes for my sandwich. 15 minutes after that, the waiter shows up with nothing else but CHICKEN CARBONARA PASTA for my boyfriend (after he's eaten all my chips). My boyfriend tells him that he actually ordered the chicken pomodori sandwich, so the waiter brought the food back to the kitchen, and the cashier loudly tries to defend herself while rolling her eyes. Our quick 20 minute lunch turned into an unsatisfying 1 1/2 hour fiasco.

The restaurant was clean, staff seemed tired, and somewhat mute. I'm not sure why they couldn't talk. Maybe all that shyness was provoked by teenage angst? Hey the bus-boy seemed happy, although still mute. Didn't like the idea that one would have to truck downstairs to only find that the bathrooms were coin operated then truck back up with knees clenched pleading for a solution to this horrible dilemma. They should post a sign on the ground floor before our hopes are dashed by the token entry. Overall Uninspired... I went with Allen R. to this Corner Bakery on our way to the Fashion Show. Funny enough we were still quite hungry when we got to the library. We got the Panini that was showcased, and while it had quality ingredients there was no reason to dip the whole number in oil before cooking it.

This Corner Bakery saved my life on New Years Day. My crew and I were looking for a place to eat that was in the vicinity of the apartment where we had spent the night. And what restaurant should we happen upon bu Corner Bakery. We were all quite excited having made this discovery. When I got to the counter I had made up my mind that I would get the club panini. When I got to the register my eyes fell upon their delicious baked goods and my eyes found one of my favorite tasty treats. A LEMON BAR!!! I had to have one. And ohmagod it was delicious. Uhh thinking about it makes me salivate. Yummy! My panini was also quite delectable. All in all it was a great day at the local Corner Bakery.

I like this place, it's spacious with comfortable seating, always friendly staff, hassle free reliable wifi , bakery goods, paninis , salads, breakfast, tons to choose from, and hazlenut cream coffee is mighty fine. For a small corporate dig, this place ain't too shabby.

I love the Uptown Turkey sandwich, and usually opt for a side salad instead of the chips, but have liked most of the things I've tried on the menu. It's a great quick spot to grab a brunch or lunch if you're in the neighborhood but the service isn't the best and you MUST check your take-out bag before you leave -- I've had trouble getting the right order a few times at this location. To their credit, though, when I brought it to their attention, they sent me a coupon! So I keep coming back :)

I said in my last review that I didn't want to go to chains in Chicago. Well, I fail at planning. As far as food goes, I have no complaints. It's no more expensive than Panera. I had breakfast (oatmeal) and salad (the Harvest salad with chicken); both were good. My oatmeal tasted a bit funny but I had gotten one of the pre-made cups because I originally thought I had to catch a bus in a few minutes. Everything people say about the service, though, is true. I asked about nutrition and it took the person behind the counter 1 minute to tell me that they didn't have nutrition information available. They do. It's on the Internet. This is something you really should know.

Good sandwichs and soups here. Expect to wait a little while and the line doesn't move very fast. Consistency is an issue, but when it's good, it's great.

The service has improved somewhat, but their hiring standards leave a LOT to be desired. Food is good, but I'd say avoid this particular location if you want to avoid the shaky service. Also, the valets (illegals) who work for Big Bowl next door will hang out in the Corner Bakery dining room during winter, opening the side door every few minutes to freeze everyone out of the place, letting the door slam shut when they run in and out.

You can't beat their breaksfast deals. 5 bucks for a nice heaping plate of fresh eggs in an omelet, potatoes and bread. The rest of the time, I like the salad trio (chicken salad is good, but has fruit in it).

It is always a thrill to get to McDonald's before 10:30 AM. I heard a rumor that they were going to serve breakfast all-day someday. Sure, I would rather have an Egg McMuffin than a Ranch Snackwrap at say, 2PM or 6PM, but it takes away the pleasure of "making it." Why am I talking about McDonalds when I am reviewing Corner Bakery? As an adult not living in central Illinois, my taste buds have become slightly more sophisticated yet I have found that same "making it" thrill at Corner Bakery. I LOVE their Oatmeal- the one loaded with brown sugar, raisins, cranberries and walnuts!!! It's inexpensive, filling and such a treat PLUS you get a cinnamon crusty! The catch is you have to get there early. It's not served all day and if you get there too close to the end of breakfast, they say they are out and your breakfast bliss is shattered. This game of the early bird catches the worm is a little bit more challenging than the one at McDonald's. There is no guarantee on time. Get there early or get out. This particular location is a great alternative for breakfast, lunch or dinner while roaming around the Gold Coast. You get the same sidewalk view of the neighborhood as Gibson's or Tavern on Rush for a fraction of the cost. The service is slightly disorganized all the time, but it works. Bottom line- try the oatmeal even if you don't think you like it. The new oatmeal with bananas and honey is also delicious but the classic is best!

I get the Chopped Salad here about once a week and it has yet to disappoint. I would definitely recommend it, along with the Tomato Basil or Baked Potato soup. Other reviews criticize the service here, but I've never had a bad experience. Maybe it is because I never come during lunch or dinner rush, but they are always fast, friendly, and consistent. I'm sure I'll be back again soon!

I walked in here as this old lady was closing the place. I wanted some hot soup because I wasn't feeling well and not in the mood to sit down at a bar/restaurant, I just wanted some soup to go. I have to give this lady a big high 5! For her generous service that was just unbelievable. I have never been treated so well and her attitude was very caring and genuine. It was real and not fake like some employees are just saying, "thank you or have a good day" like they don't care and robotic. But she was very thorough, making sure, spoon, napkins, bread was included, and stayed extra time to make me a bowl of soup because it was ended of the day and there was none left. I was so happy. Can't wait to go back.

This lunching place always hits the spot. Their half and half combo is my favorite...mmm panini and tomato basil soup. I don't have a big problem with the lines because my lunch time is so early I miss the rush. I can say that I have experienced the brutal long line of dum dums wondering what they want and workers staring off into space. Sadly I have forsaken this place lately for big bowl, sorry corner bakery, I'm just too much of a sucker for fried rice and fiery dumplings :(

Do we really need one on every corner? I guess so because everywhere you look there's a corner bakery. I'm not really complaining though because it's a good lunch spot if you're working or on the go. They have a good turkey sandwich- uptown turkey and good roasted tomato soup. They also have a southwest salad that is good, and I really don't know what they do but they have better lattes than starbucks.

i love the corner bakery. i love their chicken sandwiches and all of the salads! this was always my treat for lunch if I had time to leave my building! This one has such a great outdoor seating area (even though the el rumbles overhead) for the summer... love to people watch here! :) Its a great break for a weekday

yes, it's a chain, but it's a chain i do adore. it's good for 1) people on the go 2) people with little cash 3) people who are hungry. i am usually all of the above, so five stars for the corner bakery!

you know i've been here a few times and i'm never impressed. i got a panni sandwich - thinking that it would be as good as the one i got from spicy pickle. it was drowning in mayo - way way way too much mayo. almost made me sick to my stomach. couldn't take much of it down. will never do it again.

Typical corner bakery. Exceptionally friendly staff. For those who aren't familiar with corner bakery, it is similar to a cafe, halfway between a sit down restaurant and a fast food chain. A full meal will cost you around or less than $10. You order at the counter, get a number, and stick it on your table. The staff will bring your food and bus your tables. The bathrooms are downstairs and you need a token to enter. The stairs can be a little slippery so be careful! The only reason I give four stats instead of five? The elevator could be cleaner.

Pretty much like a Panera minus people calling out your name for your food to be picked up - they deliver your food to the table. I got the tomato basil soup which was yummy paired with the chicken pomodoro panini which was equally yummy yet a little too greasy... I had to soak up the grease on the bread with some napkins - kinda grossed me out. My combo was served with kettle chips and a big cookie - lots of food for $8.00. This is a perfect location in the heart of it all... clean restaurant. Fast and friendly service. Great for lunch or breakfast especially if you want some alone time. Casual atmosphere... solid food. I think I'd pick this over a Panera.

I loved this place in the mornings to grab a quick bit of breakfast. They have pretty much most things you'd want to start your day including fruits, eggs, juices, coffees and breads. I had probably the best french toast of my life here so far so if you make it by you should absolutely give that a try!.... The seating can be a little quirky in the mornings though. Even thought they have plenty of seats it seems like a lot of solo customers come in to enjoy their breakfast and eat up all the good tables/seats.

Went here for breakfast. Not much for baked goods. I ordered eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast. The toast was bread, no butter. The eggs and potatoes cold, and the bacon was very cold to the point of having fat congeal on it. The yogurt and fruit was good. The coffee was good but all the creamers had in them was skim milk... Even if labeled otherwise. I won't come here again.

It's a cute place to catch breakfast but the salad menus isn't the best. My salad was kinda small and pretty expensive for what it was. That being said, a good place to stop by in the Gold Coast that overall isn't too overpriced. Very friendly service

This bakery cafe has many items to choose from and has many choices. I couldnt find a food choice that i dislikedm because everything on the menu is great tasting and great value for the amount you are paying.

I come here a lot to have a soda and use their internet. I sometimes sit for a few hours and the staff is always so friendly! Sometimes they bring me cookies and then I have a smile all day :) Oh and the chopped salad is really good, too.

Every time I come to this restaurant, I receive outstanding service. The food is always fresh and their manager Chris often greets me at the counter and remembers my order. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
