I went this Chipotle and the one in Evanston around the University. The food is heavy and it sticks to your stomach. I didn't like anything here really...I was just looking for a spicy sandwich. I give them 3 stars for the location.

This place is starting to tick me off. I go there a couple times a week (sad to say) but it is one of the few "fast food" places I can go for gf meals. Nonetheless...it's always soggy. And not i'm not just complaining to complain. On 2 different occasions the burrito bowl has soaked through the cardboard container, through some napkins, the bag and dropped on the sidewalk. The first time it was ONE OF THOSE DAYS...and I literally wanted to kick it to the street but it didn't spill so I contained my rage and went up to my apartment (Sheridan/Diversey area). The second time, I was walking by back Duffy's and broke. Partially exploding to the point where I had to clean the sidewalk and they graciously offered me a new bag. To say I was pissed was an understatement. I understand that this location is excessively busy most times but they happen to overcharge me for stuff I didn't order. Like one evening she charged me for gauc when I didn't order it. She tried to argue until she opened my bowl to see I was correct. It was already late and I was starving so she had to go get a manager to change the charge. I finally just told her to forget it, grabbed my bag and walked out. I will say there is a guy there with gauged ears...sorry I don't know your name (no disrespect) that is sooooo nice. He's very polite and thoughtful. Great customer service. Now if the other staff members could take a lesson, that would be marvelous.

Pretty much like every other Chipotle I've been to. The customer service isn't great, but it isn't bad either. This place gets points for being 2 blocks away from my apartment. I ordered a carnitas bowl and it tasted like every other carnitas bowl I have ever ordered.

I normally don't write reviews on places like this because to me what's there really to say about a burrito bowl ? I mean it's not a 5 Star Mexican restaurant. BUT... I frequent this chipotle maybe once every 2 weeks and the service definitely could be better. I guess I can't harp on every employee because some ladies in there are so sweet. However, this new employee was quite unpleasant to say the least . I ordered 2 meals, one for me one for my coworker . She Left out a side order of tacos, my chips and guac and a quesadilla THAT I WAS CHARGED FOR. I of course didn't notice until I was back at my job ready to eat, and when I went back to tell them that half my order wasn't given to me she was VERY ARGUMENTATIVE with me. Listen. Just say I am so sorry and throw me a free drink or something for the hassle.. her attitude was atrocious.

By far the worst I've been to. The people are clueless and management can't be any better. They've run out of prime ingredients right at dinner time almost every time I've been here. Clearly zero management and zero planning. How do you not have chicken to serve at 6pm?

    (1)
  • Michael H.

I would give four stars, but there is this new older lady who works there that is seriously ignorant and talks to people with a condescending tone. She is so unpleasant that I will avoid the place if i see her working. The young ladies and gentleman who work there are very friendly tho and the food is always pretty good. The young employees need to teach that lady how to conduct herself around customers.

My boyfriend and I frequently have neighborhood "vacation" dates to the Landmark Theater area , and while we are in this neighborhood- we go to the record store, we go to clothing optional, see a movie, and get dinner. It used to be Aladdin's , but I hate that place and have refused to go there since the 3rd time we've gone. The date is now, go shopping/browsing and then share a burrito at Chipotle, and 2 beers or "cervezas" as they are called when you are in a "mexican" restaurant and see a movie at the landmark. It is an excellent date, and we've had the exact same date TWICE ( but in six years of dating that should be okay...)

I really think this place is nasty- I heard that it is owned by McDonalds, which would actually explain a lot- but I have yet to verify the information. As you know from my previous reviews, I'm VERY picky when it comes to meat- especially chicken. Well, the bird here is about as bad as it gets. And I think everything tastes the same! as if it all came on the same truck. Would not recommend this joint. Go to Baja Fresh for a decent burrito and some kick ass fresh salsas. Skip Chipotle.

Wow the Chipotle at 610 Diversey is hands down the worst one I have ever been to. Their customer service is horrible and several times I've been sold things that are inedible either due to undercooked meat or it just completely falling apart when I open it. Last time I was there was the last straw. The person making my burrito tore the tortilla almost in half but continued to make the burrito anyway and poured on so much liquid from the salsa and then instead of wrapping it just sort of mushed everything together in the tin foil. I complained and she just turned and walked away. I had tried to talk to a manager (only got the cashier who didn't actually want to talk to me) and she wasn't helpful. Needless to say, I'm not going back.

I really like this particular Chipotle location. They play the best mix of music. They don't skimp on servings, and recently, when something I ordered was too hot for my taste, they gave me an extra side of sour cream to cool things down. Just a nice touch!

Okay, so after coming here a few more times, I've realized this Chipotle isn't very good. I had a chicken bowl today and it was...weird. I think it was the fajitas that made it taste bad, but they tasted rotten/burnt, which was so disappointing. Also, when pouring salsas, usually at other Chipotles, they'll pour out the excess liquid before putting it in your food so your bowl/burrito/tacos/whatever don't leak everywhere, but here they just dump it all in. My bag ripped during my 5 minute walk home because it was too liquid-y in the bowl. I think I'll think twice before coming here again and the only reason I'd probably come back is for convenience.

Chipotle is Chipotle. The same as almost any other one but not too busy at dinner.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Chipotle - bi-weekly if not weekly spot for lunch or dinner. I always get a burrito bowl, chips and guac. Hubby gets chicken quesadilla or tacos. The service is always great at this location. It's also clean and large. No complaints there. The reason I gave them 3 stars is because on two separate occasions, we have found hairs in our food. This has ultimately forced us to go to a different location because it grosses us out. It also changed our weekly chipotle attendance to bi-weekly or monthly.

  • Nicolas C.

I love Chipotle but for some reason this location shorts you on the burrito bowls. I asked several times for more rice/chicken/etc, and they treat it as if the world is being asked of them. I go to Chipotle because I walk out with a feast, not because I get half a bowl.

One of my boiz is overly addicted to Chipotle. So after a few years of hearing him rave about this place, I finally decided to try it out. I believe Chipotle has revolutionized the way Burritos are made, by using ingredients and meats (such as, Carnitas and Barbacoa) that an ordinary Burrito wouldn't have. Also by, using larger than usual tortillas de arina and their trademark bowls. In addition, key extra ingredients that make the Burrito bowl even more delightful are avocado, green Tabasco sauce and tortilla chips. The service is fast and the staff is Spanish speaking, friendly and cool (they really hooked it up with the Burrito Bowls.) I like the small patio area it has a nice view, nonetheless, its good Mexican food place. My boi who I mentioned earlier was there with me, too, I was like Dayum! Bro. you were right all these years, this stuff is good.

Since Chipotle is a chain restaurant, I usually expect the same from each one that I go to, and always leave satisfied. They have really good fast food, and the standards for cleanliness are great considering it is a fast food joint. This Chipotle location is by far the best that I've ever been to. I've never seen fresher ingredients at any location. The veggie burrito Bol that I got was fantastic. I usually skip the pico de gallo because it is always dull looking and doesn't appeal to me. This location had super colorful pico de gallo and it tasted amazing. I'm so glad this specific chipotle is down the street from me. I will be back!

  • Dallas F.

It's no secret I like bad chain food. I'm the girl who wrote a 2 star review for a Jimmy John's screwing me over and taking their sweet time delivering my sammiches, for crying out loud. But that's neither here nor there. We've gathered here today to talk about the gentrified Mexican joy that is Chipotle. Reasons why I love this Chipotle: 1. They greet me like they know me. "Hey, how you been? What can I get for you today?". I love Chipotle but I dont go there enough for us to be friendly. But they are. 2. They have an amazing playlist at this location. Their music is seriously banging. 3. This Chipotle is very clean. I've been in some nasty Chipotles with corn in guac. Gross. Nasty. And NOT COOL. List or no list, this is a Chipotle and people love it or hate it. This location, I love!

The white rice was undercooked, as usual. The staff was not attentive. Not a good experience.

I have never written a review of this Chipotle but since they came out with the children's menu I thought I'd add my two cents. Since each one is different let me start by saying the staff is pretty nice. Sometimes they have people working the counter that could speak English a little better, but hey, everyone needs a job. Food is always good and now that I can get the kids something other than a bowl of rice, it's nice to pay less.

  • Damian C.

OK, I know I am reviewing a Chipotle, and there really isn't much to say, but after a great experience last night at this one (which I frequent on a weekly basis), I had to give a shout out to the staff. I stopped in last night and found myself in my usual Chipotle situation: burrito or burrito bol. I am so indecisive sometimes, and I always weigh out the two options. The burrito is easier to hold and eat all at once; the burrito bol has more mass and can be eaten with a fork or, how I like it, scooped up with chips (!!) I vocally offered this predicament to Delilah, burrito-maker extraordinaire, who provided me a one-stop solution: get the bol with the tortilla on the side. WHAT A CONCEPT! I had no idea Chipotle offered such an option (at no charge, I add). Delilah mentioned a lot of people actually do this because the tortillas will fall apart and the eating can get messy. Basically, it's a way to get the best of both world, and make your own mini burritos as you wish. So I went on to get my usual chicken burrito bol, both beans, hot salsa, extra cheese, and just a tad bit of lettuce, chips, and tortilla on the side. She mentioned that next time I was in there to ask for it, and if she isn't around, ask to have your burrito done "Delilah-style", and EVERYONE will know what you are talking about. So I learned two things last night: I can get a burrito and a burrito bol at the same time if I so choose, and good customer service really can make a difference. People do notice the little things like that :)

They have jumped the shark. I admit I love their barbacoa burritos but the last couple times I have been there, the burritos have shrank in size to something more similar to a taco. $9 with the guac for a burrito that leaves me wanting MORE is no deal. I don't know why I ever strayed from my local taqueria. I WONT BE MAKING ANY MORE DONATIONS THERE! Save your money and support a local business that wants to make you happy, not just make them rich.

  • Luke S.

I know a lot of you wrote reviews a long time ago, but Chipotle is no longer owned by McDonald's. They also use very fresh ingredients to pump into their 1,500 calorie burrito. I love their burritos!!! Here is a trick, if you order half steak and half chicken you will get almost a full scoop of each, which is far more meat than if you just ordered one of the other. They will charge you for a steak though. Also if you have never tried the green Tabasco it essential for a burrito.

    (4)
  • Natalie M.

I love Chipotle and I'm not afraid to say it! Sure, it's a chain, but it's no longer owned by McDonald's (since 2006, I think). The owners have made a commitment to sourcing organic produce (over 40% of the produce is currently organic). Their motto is "food with integrity" meaning they pay a lot of attention to where they get their inputs. I won't eat meat, but I suppose if I did, I would want to know that it came from an animal that wasn't given hormones or antibiotics and that maybe that animal got to see the sunshine a time or two in its life before it was sent to the slaughterhouse. Chipotle is making this kind of commitment within their supply chain. And, they have an awesome vegetarian burrito. yum!

    (5)
  • Ang R.

I'm pretty sure Chipotle isn't a McDonald's company anymore, and it shows. The meat used to be fatty and icky and completely inedible, and the food used to give me a major stomachache the entire day after eating it. It's not like that anymore. The meat is fine, and the food no longer sits in my stomach like a rock. And in fact, if you believe their claims, the meat is probably better than 99% of the restaurant meat in America, being all-natural and attempting to be cruelty-free. That said, I really only love the burrito bols and salads. And I also usually only eat Carnitas and Barbacoa. Or straight up vegetarian. Still, this food is like crack, okay? Whenever I'm thinking of what I might like to eat, Chipotle crosses my mind. It just tastes good. There's no way around that. I suspect that I could do the opposite of the Subway diet and do the Chipotle diet, and that the results would be opposite. What I'm saying is this: I could eat Chipotle for two meals a day and not get sick of it. However, I'm a sensible person, and try to limit consumption to one meal a week--my only lunch out during a work week. It's a great treat. Something to look forward to. You can be hater, but don't hate us because we love it.

Burrito...............i'm here Tacos................i'm here Quesadilla.......? Quesadilla.........? Nachos.............? Nachos...............? Bueller..............? Why does it seem to me that half of the mexican food you expect from a chain like this is skipping school for the day. No quesadillas, no nachos, and yet this place calls itself a mexican restaurant. The burrito is good don't get me wrong but its also simple whereas a burrito from Qdoba can come with a variety of sauces and salsas, Chipotle only has a few salsas. I despise any mexican place that doesn't have a nice queso sauce, although I shouldnt be surprised since they dont have nachos. My opinion is skip Chipotle and head to Qdoba where your tastebuds will be rewarded instead of disappointed that no one showed up for class.

Steak Burrito bowl YUM! I've only been to this location twice, but both times the service has been amazing. Seriously, nicest people. Definitely worth going back to this specific location even though I live closer to the one on Orchard.

I love Chipotle, probably eat it about twice a week. I'd say this Chipotle is just average though. Sometimes the steak can be fatty and seems like it is not the freshest.

The burritos here don't resemble anything you'd get from a more "traditional" burrito joint (in terms of taste or price), but I do like some of their offerings such as the carnitas burrito. Their burritos tend to be filling & heavy calorie-wise so I eat here only when ravenously hungry - you can save a bit on calories by ordering the "bol", which is basically burrito ingredients sans the tortilla. Their chips & guacamole are really good.

Love their burrito bol - replace the rice with lettuce and you have the perfect meal for those on low carb diets

Look, a Chipotle's a Chipotle no matter how you swing it. Giant ass burritos, same toppings, same dishes, all the time. My boyfriend's favorite comfort food. But I hadn't eaten there since we'd moved here, so we went to grab some food the other day. The reason this Chipotle gets 5 stars from me is their construction. While living in Arizona I frequented the place and was always irritated that all the delicious fatty goodness (cheese, sour cream, guacamole) was separated almost directly down the middle from the rice, beans, salsa, onions and peppers. (I know a burrito is round, and you can eat it any way you like. But somehow it always turned out that the only way to hold the burrito without dumping it all in my lap was also the way that prevented me from getting sour cream AND rice in the same bite.) Not so with this Chipotle. The girl who made my burrito really seemed like she dug doing it. She put perfect amounts of everything on and when I unwrapped it at home to dig in, I found that everything was mixed in a way that made my tastebuds go to heaven. I've never been addicted to Chipotle, but if they keep doing this to my burritos, I'm going to put on ten burrito pounds. I'll keep you posted.

Normally I would not bother reviewing such a wide-spread fast-food chain restaurant (even though I loooove me some Chipotle), but I thought it was worth noting that this particular location has the friendliest employees I've ever met! Seriously, they're so genuinely nice, I was a little taken aback at first (I'm used to people who don't rely on tips wanting to get you served and out of their way). They're also always generous with the guacamole, which immediately puts them on my good list :)

    (5)
  • Elena D.

For what it's worth, McDonald's owns this chain. Chipotle outdistances Taco Bell (and many other local mom 'n' pop shops) with its killer burritos, which are customized to your liking and humongous. And the food isn't soaked in oil, which is rare for a fast food joint. Bon appetite.

  • Patrick G.

This is probably my favorite Chipotle location in the city. The staff is very competent and knows how to make the burritos well and don't skimp on the fillings. There's tons of seating in the restaurant so you can always find a place to eat whether you're by yourself and want to sit at a counter or at a large table with friends. The staff is very nice and friendly also which is a big plus. I used to feel kinda bad about going here for burritos instead of finding an "authentic" burrito place but sadly all the other places around aren't very good at all, there are good place in the city but not within a reasonable distance from this Chipotle. I love the hot sauces here and always get extra and then drizzle the burrito in the Tobasco Chipotle sauce. Yum Yum Yum. Just writing this review makes me want a burrito.

    (5)
  • Rebecca H.

Ok, well, I hate to say it - but I have never found a place that makes good burritos like Chipotle does. They make a lot of their items fresh and supposedly they come from sustainable and ethic farms. I always seem to be in and out really fast at this one, so that is an extra star from me. Outside dining is also a plus. So is inside, air conditioned dining :)

Food is good and of good quality. The staff is stupid. "i'll have a chicken burrito with black beans. 30 seconds later...what do you want?" Every time, all servers. They don't listen. apparently, this happens not just to me, but everyone I know who eats there. And as well to people posting on here. Oh well....food is still solid.

This was my second time ever eating at Chipotle, even though my last job of two years was right next door to one. I never wanted to eat there since I knew that McDonald's owned them, and I hardly if ever go to McD's for a good number of reasons. I expected the same from Chipotle, so I avoided it. One lunch at my old job, my friends did order me a burrito bowl for lunch and it was good, kinda different but not great. So I had a job interview down the block from this Chipotle and didn't feel like cooking once I got home so I stopped in this EMPTY Chipotle. I didn't know that I had to order stuff like Subway, and even though I said i wanted "everything on it" I was asked many times about different stuff! I also didn't know they had fountain drinks, since this was my first time in one, so i bought an over priced small water bottle. Also while trying to cash out the guy behind the register was talking to some guy next to me who wasn't a customer but it took a few minutes for the cash register guy to ring me up. I think they needed to be more friendly and efficient at helping new in store customers have a great overall experience.

  • Rob J.

Okay. Here is the 411 on the 911 about Chipotle on Diversey in Lincoln Park. The staff knows me as the man who comes down there EVERYDAY to get a "large drinK". Which is basically a large cup to go to the fountain, fill with ice tea, add sweet and low, and tons of lemons. My favorite! The staff is SO friendly and personable, you would think you are walking into a family reunion! Sometimes, I'll go down there to order the Burrito bowl, and the guy at the register won't accept my cash!!!! He says..."No, its on US TODAY!" This has happened more times than you can imagine, over the course of years I've been a customer there. Simply said. Great values, Great people, Great business sense. Great loyalty to customers, and especially to returning customers. This place is the BOMB! Go there and enjoy a well run Chipotle!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Audra S.

Some of my friends rave about Chipotle, as if it's the food of Gods, but I think they're out of their minds. These burritos are crammed with white rice and beans, bland salsa and dry meat -- not my thing by any stretch of the imagination. Not to mention that at $6.50 a pop, I can walk a couple blocks up to my favorite Mexican restaurant and get a fresh burrito for the same price and take it home. Plus, they don't serve margaritas, a major drawback regardless of it being a fast food spot or not.

  • shane h.

Having come from a town that has Qdoba exclusively, this is a nice little change of pace for food that looks exactly the damn same but has more of a kick. I think it's spicier than other burritos I've had at fast food places but I enjoyed eating it. Can't say my arteries feel the same way.

    (4)
  • Joe P.

This is one of my guilty pleasures. I am a little hesitant to admit to it, but I love me some Chipotle, although for those of you that know Qdoba you may understand why this place only gets 4 stars. I do not understand my friends that can eat this every day though. A little overwhelming for me.

  • Shannon S.

This little burrito establishment is right around the corner from my apartment, so I hate to say it but I am a frequent diner. Hmm...I wonder if they have a card for that. Anyways....I love their burrito bowl. It is very filling and I like to think somewhat healthy, ok well healthier than most burrito places. Also, their chips and guacamole is very good, you definitely have to try it. They don't have the biggest of menus but it makes for a fast decision if you are like me and can never make up your mind on what you want to order. Probably not the cheapest of places but it fills you up for under $10. Try it out!!

  • daniel w.

I can eat Chipotle everyday and never get sick of it & sometimes I feel like I do eat it everyday! Nothing beats the burrito, but lately I've been trying to be healthier and get the burrito bol (still very good!). I tried this location for the first time the other day and it lived up to my chipotle expectations.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
