Mid to poor quality food served here. Atmosphere is just bizarre and smell is nasty. Didnt have any coffee, maybe thats the saving grace? I wont be back.

This place is quiet and unassuming, and one of the most relaxing coffee shops I've been to. Sometimes I go to coffee shops and feel like people-watching, and sometimes I just want to chill and/or get real work done, and this place is perfect for the latter. Great prices, too!

This is the type of place that someone would either walk in and call totally ghetto, or really really cool. The original decor is Mexian-themed, but the furniture is quaint, comfy, kinda mismatched...but I think it's really cool. They don't serve a lot of variety in food, but the atmosphere is really neat. It's my new favorite hole-in-the-wall type place. Food: I recommend the paninis. YUM. And the homemade churros. Haven't tried the other stuff yet. I'm not a huge sandwich person, but I really was impressed by the paninis. Free wifi, cute fake fireplace...I mean, come on. This place is cool. I drove past it a million times and wish I had decided to check it out sooner. It's probably one of the lesser known cool coffee shops in the area - you probably don't have to worry about it being too packed with college students studying...though if they find out, I would be happy if they started packing out the place. I would study there!

Great little place we stumbled upon when we moved to the neighborhood!! I was surprised to see such a great place on Fullerton sort of in the middle of nothing else. The atmosphere is very fun and refreshing - there's comfy couches and chairs everywhere and even a fireplace and TV. Other reviewers have said there are board games, which is always fun, I just didn't notice. My boyfriend went in to get ice cream and it was absolutely delicious! I had vanilla in a waffle cone (yes, I'm plain) and it was sooo good. The server even honored my request to put chocolate sauce on the ice cream in the cone (a lot of ice cream establishments will not do this - I don't know why). My boyfriend had a great chocolate/peanut butter shake which was soo rich and delicious. Staff is very friendly! There was only one young woman there when we came in, but she was super nice and even invited us to sit and she brought us our ice cream. I would definitely go back and have some dinner - others reviews seem to say the food is good. I definitely like the place and it's a nice, relatively unknown hangout in Logan Square.

This review is for their stand at the Logan Square Farmer's Market where they served quite possibly the best taco I've ever had...ever. And I've been to the Bayless faux street food palace Xoco. I'm serious, the Cherubs vegetarian taco has colorful peppers and fresh squash, light Mexican cheese, and an abundance of onions and cilantro. The chicken taco was seasoned perfectly, a little spicy, a little mesquite with tons of requisite onion and cilantro. It costs TWO WHOLE DOLLARS and (suck on this Bayless) made "on the street," okay grass, but right there next to the street. I already love the market, but hopefully Cherubs keeps coming back-- those tacos are such a highlight!!

I try try try not to be catty on the internet, but let's just say I would have added a 6th star for the simple fact that if you go here, you are guaranteed to never run into someone who wouldn't like it. Listen sweethearts, if you want good lighting, pottery barn decor and a paint color complementary to your urban outfitter wardrobe, I suggest you go to Panera. Perhaps back in the suburbs. if you came to Chicago not expecting a sterile, product tested mass marketed load of bullshit, I suggest you spend some time at Cherubs.

i live in West Logan Square and i have had lunch here a number of times. So today when i was doing laundry near by I decided to grab lunch. That's when it hit me...this place has really good food and at a great price. For what i would have spent to go to one of the chains such as potbelly's I got a cup of soup ( just so-so but hot and filling) , full size turkey and Swiss grilled, canned soda and chips. And the quality was great. I agree with other reviewers that the decor is odd but hey potbelly's faux vintage leavesa lot to be desired and that doesn't stop people from flocking there. So if you live in the area or find yourself there..stop in and give them a try.You will be plesantly surprised. And I almost forget...to the adult woman who was sitting in Cherubs at the same time I was..eating food from somewhere else ...with your pre-teen child...using their outlets for your laptop and I assume their wi-fi. Shame on You!!!

I feel all reviews should start out a 5 star then we add and subtract stars as we go. The decor in this place is a little strange, but not that out of the ordinary. What was out of the ordinary was the smoke detector that kept beeping the whole time we waited for our food. Which brings me to the next lost star which was the wait which had to be at least 20 minutes for a sandwich and a cup of soup. I can understand since there was only one lady working behind the counter, but come on how long can it take to make a ham and cheese sandwich and pour a cup-of-soup. The ham and cheese panini and Cherub soup was quite tasty, and for the money there are definitely not many places in the city where you get a better bang for the buck. I will probably try this place again, but not until the battery is replaced on that damn smoke-detector. They do serve ice cream and smoothies but I was not in the mood for anything cold when its 50 degrees outside and its only October.

If you want a "missed connection" written about you while dancing to your favorite indie tune while struggling to find a chair, go to New Wave. BUT, if you need a place to actually read/study/meet or relax, AND enjoy affordable edibles, Cherubs is the better choice. Yes, the naked-angel art is a little weird, and yes, you may be forced to endure rediculous dance music or soap operas playing on the TV...but if I wanted to listen to Animal Collective, I'd stay at home and listen to Animal Collective. I go to Cherubs when I need a place to study, which means a table and chair to myself, big warm cups of coffee, reliable free wi-fi, and staff that don't care how long I stay. It's comfortable, cheap, delicious, un-crowded, and un-pretentious.

Four stars just because of the sweet lady who owns the joint! Very good sandwiches. Atmosphere is very weird and a little sketchy.

Upon walking in here, the first thing that struck me is that it looks EXACTLY like a hash bar you'd see in the Netherlands. I mean dead-on, from the ambiance to the setup and decor. Obviously it's not, but what it is is a nice little coffee/ice cream/sandwich place that certainly has a little bit of european flavor to it. Odd, since I think it's owned by a Mexican family, but what the heck they sure nailed it. I didn't like this place much at first, but I think that's because it was new and still working the bugs out, plus they don't have booze which always sets up a mental block for me. I have warmed up to it as time's moved on. It's got a small, reasonably priced menu. They make a helluva smoothie, and good filling paninis as well. It's very comfy, a place that is somewhere I could see hanging out and working on the laptop for long periods. Much more home-y than a Starbucks. I think this place, if it survives the changing area, will end up being one of those 'hotspots' for people to come study, chat over coffee, and write pretentious poetry. The only thing that sorta bugs me about it is the bathroom being right in the middle of the place almost across from the counter, that's sorta gross.

I came here a couple of times and ordered the chicken salad sandwich. It was very good....freshly made......so it took a little longer than usual to get my food...but I was in no rush. While I waited, a group of kids from the neighborhood came in and ordered ice cream. The owner is a single mother just trying to make a living. The place is charming...almost like someones living room. Couch...tv...wi-fi..board games....plenty of tables. They also have outdoor seating to watch the cars fly by on Fullerton at 40 mph. Nice place to relax....just need more people to go. If this place was located closer to California/Fullerton it would be much busier.

Like the reviewer before me, this review is for their Logan Square Farmers Market stand where they offer $2 tacos and elotes (and if you don't know what one is yet, you've got to come on Sunday and try one!), and $3 horchata. The tacos are great - simple, full of flavor, and just like you would get at your favorite taqueria. The fact that they work so fast, serve such good food, and such affordable prices - well, it's no surprise the line is always so long. When you add music, a lot of grassy, shady areas for people to sit with their friends and families - it makes a perfect day at the market. Check them out. I've never been to their location on Fullerton, but as long as they're at the market, they have my $$ every Sunday!

This is such a cozy place! We used to live down the block on the 2nd flr. of my mother-in-laws house & across the street from the owner and when my father used to visit my girls-this would be the place they wanted to go to. Their churros are amazing and freshly made to order & the smoothies are nice & refreshing! Try their mango smoothie!!....hmm I think I'm hitting this place up tonight! Lol They have great soups & sandwiches. A must try if your in the neighborhood.

This is a cute little neighborhood joint that I've stopped into a couple times now. It's a nice, fairly quiet place to relax with a light lunch/snack or a coffee and read or whatever. It's a simple menu, mainly coffees, ice cream, smoothies and soup, sandwiches and salad. I like their cream of broccoli - very rich and filling - not sure it's homemade, but it's very tasty. I would disagree with Jeff (reviewer of 10/5/06) in that the exterior does not really tell you what to expect inside. Bright orange outside did not lead me to expect the inside. Yeah, the angels and cherubs are a bit kitschy, but kind of homey. You can tell that someone really likes angels/cherubs and wanted to share their collection. There are comfy chairs with tables nearby or you can sit at the couches in front of the TV. I think there might even be a fireplace but I can't remember right now. One criticism is that the menu up on the wall is a little hard to figure out, along with the fact that there are various things NOT listed up there that are tagged on the counter or in the fridge. A take-out menu would be a good thing for them.

It's super cheap and unpretentious. The decor is, uh, interesting, but that's not why I come here. It's low-key and a good place to hang out. Stop in, if you are in the area.

Wanted to get the soup, but they were out. Instead bought an ice cream, which was so-so. The interior is a very comfortable place to sit and relax.

I used to live around the corner for Cherubs. It's a great place with a funny decor (a little on the gaudy side when I was there last), but the owner is very sweet and the sandwiches were tasty. The coffee is good too, and I had ice cream there once and was very pleased.

Cherub's is one of those little neighborhood places that if you don't look for it you could easily miss it, and if you do miss it well too bad and shame on you. The staff there is very friendly and really cute I might add. Also, the prices are pretty reasonable only because you get your money's worth. While I haven't had the ice cream there i have had the cappucino they make which is awesome and their paninis just incredbile. My favorite is the pastrami with swiss and mustard on any kind of bread. This place is so nice and relaxing to hang out in and just kickback for a while. I would go there again and again as for as long as they stayed open. I would also recommend this place to anybody. Great for a quick stop for lunch.

I was a bit skeptical when I was first asked to go here. The exterior leads you to believe what the interior will look like. If you are the least bit perceptive you will be right. Bright orange awning and a neon "Open" sign blaring from the window. Kinda tacky. No. Scratch that, VERY tacky. The inside. Oh the inside. When you first walk in you are greeted by a concrete garden fountain that has long since been out of commission. In, or under rather, this fountain are chotchkies such as little wooden homes, nautical ropes, and of course cherubs. Everywhere. The fountain maybe works at night only spewing cherub-esqe things all over the place. My favorites are the huge framed cherub xerox and spray-paint pictures/photos that adorn almost every wall. Its OK though, my mother has a garden room that is very reminiscent of this place. Which brings me to the comfort level of this place. Its like you've stepped into someones apartment that doubles for a storefront. There are mismatched chairs everywhere. Make sure to sit in the Beetlejuice inspired chair by the window. The menu looks limited, they offer a handful of coffee drinks, smoothies, liquados (ice,milk,fruit- kinda like a smoothie though not as thick). They offer a small variety of desserts mainly churros (amazing when fresh) and ice cream (maybe a dozen flavors-the usual). They also offer two salads, the spinach salad and the cherub salad. Ive had both and although they are gargantuan in size and little in price the dressings were just too much. If you like you're salads slathered in vinaigrette then you'd love these. I don't come here for any of these things though. I come here for their chicken salad sandwich. I don't even like chicken salad. Well, I didn't. This place made me forget that. Their buttery bread is baked fresh (to order I believe- seeing that it can easily take 20 minutes for your sandwich) and the chicken salad. Jesus, the chicken salad. I'm also pretty sure that they make this to order as well. Its the perfect savory chicken salad garnished with nothing but lettuce. I think my dislike of chicken salad happened when things like apples and grapes started becoming popular add-in's. you wont need anything else as its all in the salad. Fresh tomato, red onion, celery, mayo, and subtle spices that meld everything together perfectly. While you might have to wait a bit for your order its definitely worth it. Come in with a book and your laptop because I think they just got WIFI. Five stars just for their chicken salad sandwich.

Love coming back to the places that have meant so much to my fiancée and I in our relationship. The owner Elvia is the sweetest woman who always remembers us when we come in even when it has been a long time. She makes great smoothies and sandwiches along other items, but those are what we always love to order. Elvia and Cherubs is also great for hosting a meet up event since there is a lot of space and some comfy couches! This is definitely a neighborhood spot everyone should check out :-)

This place is great because its comfy and relaxing without having to fight hipsters for a seat. A great place to study, work, or take a date to get to know them better without load music and crowds. The turkey sandwich and pineapple smoothing on the Angel 2 combo were great! This is a nice place to hang out during the day. They have signs about keeping kids under control which I like. I think this would be good for small groups no more than 4 people. Spanish music plays softly in the background.

The tacos....THE FREAKING HORCHATA! I had the pleasure of indulging at Logan Square's Farmer's Market. I had never heard of this place before but I cannot wait to try out the actual restaurant. The tacos were so delicious and perfect. The horchata was the best I've ever had! I can only imagine what the rest of the menu has to offer. Great food!

Sometimes you want a sandwich that is just a sandwich and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The medium sized sandwiches hit the spot and taste like a sandwich you might make at home if you actually went grocery shopping over the weekend and had sandwich making stuff. Other random thoughts: -Overly vintage in a way that you might expect comfort food to be served here but it's not. -The lady at the counter is a sweetheart and I think she might be an owner or a family member. - Street parking was easy.

Two stars it's a generous rating. Only because the lady was very nice. This place is filthy dirty. Ugly carpet, nasty bathroom. Sticky dust on pictures and baseboards. The food could be the best but the the "cleanliness" ruins everything. Maybe it's OK in third world but not here. Ughhhh. Dump...

This is one of the best places to eat and work in this area! The smoothies are all REAL fruit, with as many combinations as you want. And the steak and chicken tacos are some of the best in the city, and it's so inexpensive!

Best place ever and great value. I went there to just sit down and work on some sketching on a Sunday. I loved the decor, its Logan Square people, don't expect nice decor; its the food that counts!!! The sandwich I had was absolutely stellar and underpriced! The ingredients according to the owner are the freshest! I could tell right away that they were! I also had some tacos, out of this world!!! I am a true mexican but these tacos were like gourmet. The blend of flavors were absolutely stellar! I'm not done yet! The milkshakes were amazing too! I had a pistachio shakes and then a butter pecan. They were absolutely flavorful but not overpowering! I spent about 3 hours there and spent about $15 dollars which was well worth. Honestly, if there were six stars Id give it without hesitation. No restaurant in the Logan Square can compare to the deliciousness that they served up and for the price! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESS! This is a mom and dad shop and run by a family. I will definitely be coming often and bring friends over. ALSO: Keep in mind that theyre is sometimes a little wait time, but its well worth it.

Wow! I live so close and just tried this place. Everything is great: the service, the prices, and the sandwiches. And the smoothies are abosolutely amazing! I got a blueberry strawberry and it was out of this world. A much better sandwich shop than any of the chain restaurants. Local flavor that taste great!! I was very impressed.

I love this place. Where else can you enjoy some classic pop rock en espanol, comfy couches, free wifi, a delicious and large tuna sandwich, soup and a cafe con leche all for less than nine dollars? Surely, not in Chicago. :)

Best steak tacos in the city. It's super cheap and their horchata and smoothies are crazy delicious

Best smoothies ever. I walk past this place on my way home from work and am sad that I didn't stop in sooner. They make the best, most tasty, and well, smoothest smoothies around, and now that it's hot out I'm going to be walking home a lot more (instead of getting a ride) just so I can stop and get a smoothie and a bite to eat.

Okay, so Cherubs is cozy, quaint and really... unique. But, it also smells like 'grandma's attic', which I muttered under my breath to my ice cream-aficionado companion. Actually-- and this sounds terrible-- I hoped that he would change his mind once he saw the rather limited array of ice cream flavors but we stayed. And the smell dissipated. Or rather, I acclimated. And I'm glad that happened, because visiting Cherubs is truly an experience. Upon closer inspection, you'll notice it actually LOOKS like grandma's attic, too. Strange furnishings. Old sofas. Random knickknacks strewn about. Is it a fountain, a tower? No matter, there's no rhyme or reason to this stroll down hodgepodgery lane. But it's interesting, I'll give it that. The owner (at least I think she was the owner) was very kind and accommodating, waiting patiently as we dawdled over the menu. They make shakes, smoothies, and sandwiches in addition to scooping ice cream. I went with one scoop of vanilla topped with strawberries and whipped cream. The ice cream hit the spot-- nice and smooth but take note: the whipped cream comes from a can. I think my friend hit a few ice chunk speed bumps in his hills of his butter pecan, but otherwise seemed content with his choice. Cherubs offers free wi-fi and I imagine it's a great place to get a ton of work done or laze with your favorite book. You've got to see it to believe it!
