I have never wanted to enjoy my drink and take my time sipping it because it was so fresh and delicious. Our waitress chatted with us about what we ordered and answered our questions with such a lovely passion about the distillery which makes fresh ginger infused beverages. My best guy friend got a dark + stormy and I got a gin + tonic, which was fresh, cool, gingery sweet with a touch of spice to it. Best G+T I have ever had! We ordered the white monkfish and arugula appetizer and it was full of flavor, fresh and delicious. Bathrooms were very clean and lovely too! An awesome place to go for drinks with friends! Love this area and will be coming back :)

Great vibe and a fresh breath of fresh air for the drinks scene in Chicago. The cocktails (I've tried almost every one) are all really good and a little on the pricy side (you pay for the quality!) I highly recommend trying it out at least one night. They also do distillery tours. Good for large groups and easy to find a spot for everyone too!

This became one of my favorite places to go (especially after the opera.) I love the small menu and amazing seasonal drinks. The bloody mary's in the fall are to die for and I am a huge fan of the lapsang souchong infusions! Everything made local and the clean steam-punk distilling equipment lend an interesting element of design to the chic glass and granite decor.

For the price point, the best cocktails I've had so far in the city! Their signature drinks are well thought out and complex. Very attentive and friendly service. I'm not sure if it was just the night we were there, but love the early 2000 club music! We will certainly be back!

This is still kind of a hidden gem. It was nice to be here at 8:00 on a Saturday and not have to shout to be heard and still have room to move. The wait staff is very friendly and they have a ton of them for this small spot. Our group numbered 8 and we spread out at the bar over about 4 seats (and behind) and did not feel smashed or that we were blocking other patrons. I would definitely come back to try some of the other cocktails - the oxycontin seemed to be a favorite amongst our group.

We came here on a Friday night. Called that morning for reservations for a group of 14 and they were able to accommodate us! It had just the perfect amount of people, not too crowed, but not empty at all. Great environment to relax and talk. No loud music blasting :-)

Our night here started fantastically... Presentation and ambiance were fantastic. I loved the restroom decor! Drinks were inventive and had great flavor. I stuck with gin: the Oxycontin was my favorite but I did enjoy a cucumber concoction as well. Sadly they ran out of special (sphere and bar) ice cubes towards 11pm- not a huge deal, but a little disappointing. Our server explained the concept and helped us make selections, but as the night wore on he was increasingly absent. Our party grew throughout the night, and we were a thirsty bunch, but no one was consistently stopping by to take drink orders. The best service was from the runner/busboy who was super attentive with plates, silverware, and water refills. Finally, getting the bill was a struggle that took about 45 minutes from decision to leave, to actually out the door. I really loved the concept and the product, so I plan to return. Hopefully service issues can be chalked up to newbie status.

Great cocktails, ambience, service. Be adventurous (Oxycontin Cocktail is amazing) but don't forget about the classics (gin and tonic is unlike any you've had before). Cheers!

Everything about this place deserves 5 stars! Our server Joe was amazing and knowledgeable. He was enthusiastic, passionate and genuine. In serving there is a fine balance of letting your customers know you are available but not being too over-bearing. Joe was able to manage this balance perfectly. The drinks were incredible, tasty and presented well. Food - even more amazing - JP was cooking and came and introduced himself. One of the dishes I tried was the squash salad - which might not sound like much but it had so many different flavors and textures it is worth checking out, and their homemade cocktail sauce puts some of the best to shame. I would highly recommend this place if you are in to great food, great drinks and great service. Side note - By law they can only sell what they make - which at this time is whiskey and vodka so if your looking for beer or wine this is not the place for you.

So, I liked this place but not enough to remember its name or go out of my way to return. I visited CH Distillery in the first few weeks of its opening. It's a lot smaller than I thought it would be, as the distillery seems to take up half of the entire space of the establishment. The bar is really the only place to sit although there are a number of small side tables lining the walls. I would not recommend CH for large groups. Drinks were good, better than a pub but not up to mixology level. If someone suggested we go, I would but I probably would not recommend it on my own.

Phenomenal cocktails with a chic atmosphere. The Cease and Desist was the best cocktail I've tasted. They are welcoming and highly skilled. If you want a remarkable drink and a great atmosphere CH Distillery should be at the top of your list.

Great place to get an after-work drink in the west loop! Went with a few friends for happy hour and the drinks were amazing. I'm not normally a vodka drinker, but I don't think I've had a better vodka drink. Drinks are reasonably priced given the quality of the drink. I even tried a shot of plain vodka (whichI hate) and actually really liked it. The customer service was also impeccable. We had a great waiter who was very educated on the product and drinks. Even got to meet the brewmaster! Needless to say was a great experience. Even walked out buying a bottle of the vodka for my dad!

First, whoever DJs/makes the playlist for this place--amazing. It was pretty crowded when we showed up on Saturday night but the hostess was super accommodating. She made sure we got drinks ASAP and then went to work rearranging tables so that we got one sooner. The drinks were fantastic--highly recommend the "cease and desist." We will definitely be back.

Came here twice in a week, once for cocktail hour and once for dinner and cocktails. The ambiance, presentation, and drinks here were THAT good. Location in the west loop doesn't hurt either as it's only a few blocks away from where I live. Food: Yes: Melon Salad Okay: Whitefish Spread and Corned Duck Drinks: Yes: The Baron Takes Tea (it's like drinking Chanel 19 perfume), Pegu Club No: Moscow Mule Zack and Joe were amiable and took care of us. When my friend's martini had too much vermouth, they took it back and made it better. Not too crowded on weekday nights but I can see how the space can get filled up very quickly. It's an intimate, quiet place to have good conversations. Great way to start or end the night.

My group met up here before going over to Sepia for dinner. This place nearly stole the show. We had every drink on the menu except The Tradition. Each one was exotic, unique and delicious. Our bartender was terrific and he explained how this place came to be. We sampled a couple of the apps and I want to return for a full meal here sometime soon. Absolutely one of my favorite recent discoveries and I can't wait to return.

Visited here on Saturday 12th October and was impressed. They distill some of their own spirits on the premises and the quality is excellent. The cocktail selection is really creative and excellent quality. We ordered some food which is very small plates, but very delicious. Thought the salmon was superb particularly. Ask to try their own whisky!

Great place to grab a cocktail! It is a very small space, and I don't recommend going with a big group, however it is great for a date night or going with a couple of friends. We had a few cocktails and a small appetizer when we came. Everything was wonderful. Will definitely consider coming back for a drink.

We went here for dinner on Valentine's Day. The food was really delicious. IT was a small menu and weighted towards fish/seafood, but even I as a fish hater was able to fill up on yummy food. Best thing of all - we took home a bottle of their bourbon. It was excellent. Intimate venue, homemade cocktails, not too pretentious.

It was my first time here and can I just say "YUM"! The drinks where so unique, well made and delicious. All the drinks we ordered where great and the server had excellent recommendations. Great bar to end or pre-game your night out. Great for a date drink as well.

Great experience and great cocktails. All the liquor and mixers are made in house and delicious. Good service and a nice ambience. We went around 9 on a Friday night and it wasn't packed but had a nice sized crowd. I would go back for a drink if I was in the area and would like to try the small plates.

There's nothing really wrong with this place. It sells vodka, it's close to the office, and it gets the job done. But If you want good traditional vodka cocktails, don't go here. Their cocktail menu is limited only to mixtures that highlight the odd fusions they distill in house. It's nice inside, had great ambiance, but if all you want is a simple vodka cocktail, this place isn't for you. I see this place doing well based on it's location, but I think they could do a better job of expanding their cocktail menu to include the originals- and not a spin on an original. I felt like I settled when it came to what I ordered.

Great place to start the night! Delicious drinks! Drink Rhymes with Orange for a delicious little kick! Cease and Desist is really good also. Good atmosphere. We got dessert too - it was just pieces of chocolate. Would like to see a better dessert menu there but definitely great place for drinks

Fantastic establishment for great cocktails and light food. The owners are extremely passionate and knowledgable of all things spirits. The unique attributes of having a local distillery enables trying the new batches even more exciting. You have to try this place!

My girlfriend and I made CH Distillery a stop on our Chicago bar crawl the other night. I had wanted to check out their cocktails for awhile and my friend heard their cake was out of this world so it was a no brainer. I tried the Cease & Desist because I was intrigued by the Lapsang Suchong tea infused gin. I like that smokey flavor and it contrasted nicely to the sweeter cocktails I had been drinking earlier in the night. The gooey butter cake was worth the calories. Trust me. Plus from our spot at a table near the bar and the distillery, we could people watch and check out everything going on. I liked this place!

Ummm how come I've never been here before was the first question I asked myself after trying the Fernet Float. The float is strong, but absolutely sweet and delicious. How can you resist the Vanilla bean ice cream in the middle of your cocktail glass. :) Besides there super yummy drinks the food was amazing. We had the Arugula Salad. I'm not a salad person, but I found it to be delicious. Not too much dressing and the flavors were good. Besides that the gooey butter cake was awesome and so were the ginger almonds. I went for their two year anniversary party, so they were giving out free shots. We also got to tour the distillery. Great location, great food, and a really fun time.

CH Distillery is awesome! I miss working near the distillery because I haven't been able to go as often but it's always a great place to take friends from out of town or just an after work drink. Rosemary's Baby is my favorite drink but I haven't found one that isn't delicious. You can also scoop their liquors by the bottle at certain retailers around town. It's always great to support local Chicago companies!

CH Distillery was the perfect beginning to my Valentine's Day date. We made reservations online to attend their tour, which is very reasonably priced. Upon arriving, we let the hostess know we were here for the tour and she led us to a table so we could order a drink beforehand. The space is relatively small and well-decorated. It has a relaxed feel and you can actually hear your conversation! Perfect date location. The tour was about a half hour and very informative. The owners obviously put lots of hard work into running this small distillery and are churning out tons of quality products. If you've been to a distillery tour before, it's nothing new, but it still kept our attention. You can also bring your cocktail on the tour, which is a nice touch! Post tour, we actually decided to grab another drink and snack before heading out. Choosing a cocktail is no easy task, they all sound so interesting. I started with the Czech Mate and absolutely loved the cinnamon/spice vodka with grapefruit juice. Highly recommend. All of the cocktails we had were actually very delicious. I was slightly hesitant to try the Rosemary's Baby, which included peppercorn vodka, but it was the star of the evening for me. Definitely try this one! We wanted to order a small snack and went with the coconut curry cashews and marconas. YUM. Order these to munch on while you have a few drinks and you will not be disappointed. Overall, fantastic experience. It was the ideal Valentine's Day activity if you're looking for something that isn't too cheesy. Reasonably priced and a great environment, CH Distillery is the perfect spot to grab a few drinks.

I really like CH Distillery, I just wish it had more options. I've now been to CH a few times and each time, there has been consistent, friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere. However, while there are a ton of options on the menu for cocktails, their 'only made in house' set up limits things in some ways. Not everyone likes cocktails, but that is your only option here. No wines or beers are available (and I believe that is due to their licensing...), which can put off some folks who do not want hard alcohol. I think you can get juices, house sodas, but it would be nice to have more options. The prices are a bit high and while the food looks good, I haven't been able to try any yet. I think that for me, it skews a bit expensive but without all of the options you'd have at similarly priced spots. I've only been there early, so I'm not sure of the atmosphere at night, but seems like it would get trendy and a bit dark. They do have outdoor seating. Overall, ok, but not a spot you'd visit weekly unless you really like liquors (theirs are quite good, though some are unique). They all start with vodka and go from there...

  • Kate M.

I really liked CH Distillery and hope to go back pretty soon. CH Distillery serves drinks that they make themselves. I don't mean they just mix them up and serve them to you, I mean they actually make the alcohol (that's what a distillery is by the way). I've tried a few drinks and they were all very good. I really like the Cease and Desist. Really, I doubt you can go wrong with anything they make here. I'm smitten with the décor and look at CH Distillery too. They've successfully married cozy, romantic, edgy, and distillery (yes, it's a polygamous marriage). The outdoor seating is a nice and the street there isn't super busy or loud so you can actually enjoy your drinks and company. I can't wait to go back

I was walking toward my dinner reservation and stumbled on this place. It is an awe inspiring bar/distillery. The concoctions are all made with their locally produced spirits, of which there is a large variety (Vodka, Gin, an Amaro, etc). The place is beautiful, with giant windows showing off pristine equipment behind the bar. The drinks were tasty as well - with the new touches of cool ice cubs, and complexities not found in other bars. I returned to CH twice on my recent trip. My only regret was not taking back some of the Key Gin to Colorado (though flying with Gin these days is a pain in the but)

I booked a party of 6, tour 3 weeks in advance for my wife's surprise birthday. She has celiacs disease, not much alcohol she can enjoy, and now I get a call that it's been cancelled because a guide is not available. Thanks guys thanks for ruining my plans. Yes I'll take my money back and now you'll never earn my business again.

Very cool spot to grab a drink in the west loop. They make all of their spirits in house and have a few very creative drinks that are worth trying. The place is complete with a small patio outside to enjoy a nice day.

We had friends in town and decided to do the tour. Its a little cheesy, but we liked it. SUPER small, but what do you expect in the heart of the city. Slightly educational. Staff was uber nice. They have lots of cool, decorated bottles from local artists. We ended up picking up some last minute Christmas gifts. LOVED the space...seems like an upscale bar, without the d-bags...yes, I like this. We also had the marcona almonds and burrata...YUM! So creamy and delicious. I would love to try more food here...alas we had a reservation at Franklin Room (epic fail on the food...we should have stayed here). I love that they were super attentive too. Our waters were never empty, our plates cleared appropriately, service was superb. I have to make a trip back for the food...not just the tour.

This is a cute cozy spot that is perfect for a date. The drinks are delicious and the servers totally know their stuff! It's cool that everything is made in house, and they even offer tours twice a week. The bites are mostly small plates but really delicious. The Pork Belly Gnocci was my favorite. The pork belly is thick and delicious! The Whitefish Escabeche with sea beans was their special of the day, which we thought was nicely paired with pickled carrots and fennel. Cocktails: I tried the Baron Takes Tea, which is really unique! I got a great taste of the earl grey tea in the gin. The egg whites weren't too much, just the right amount for that delicious foamy texture. My bf got Rhymes with Orange, which is vodka infused with serrano peppers, and boy did I get that kick! We both thought our drinks were fabulous. I would definitely come back here and try some new cocktails.

Great vibe. Creative cocktails that aren't trying too hard to be overly unique. They distill and serve their own vodka and gin. The staff was really friendly, attentive and informative. Their popular drink is the cease and desist - nice blend of vodka that is infused with tea. It's definitely a must try

Being a HUGE fan of vodka (the only liquor i drink) I was dying to pay this place a visit. This is a fantastic distillery & bar. Came here on a Tuesday after work to grab a couple drinks and go on the tour. The tour was really interesting and we learned about the vodka distillation process and the CH history. We also go to try the traditional (vodka shot with a side of rye bread and pickles) which was included as part of the tour. Since I was one of the first ones in our group to get there, me and my companion ordered a round of drinks to start. He got the old fashioned which he enjoyed and I got the Moscow mule. The Moscow mule was made with fresh pressed ginger and definitely one of the more interesting versions I've had. The ambiance and decor of the bar area was great as well, comfortable yet with an industrial and modern feel. We happened to stop by on the first day the patio was open, and it was incredibly nice to enjoy a stiff one basking in the sun. Will definitely be back after work.

Saturday evening, 5 pm. It was supposed to open at that time, so at 5:10 pm it was already busy! And this shows a lot! I had the Baron takes tea, such a good choice if you like soft drinks, the flavor of lemon and ice tea. It was served in a tube glass with a tube ice! My boyfriend had the Cease and Desist. Such a good pick! If you like the spiciness of ginger, then you will love it! We also had a Coppa appetizer, it is just delicious! It is a good place to go with friends, they have a big and semiprivate table so you can go with a large group. Or it is also nice for double date or simply for couples. The ambience is nice and you can see the distillery. I would definitely recommend this place.

One visit and I'm a huge fan. CH is a small place that's classy, modern, sleek. A friend and I were seated at the bar, which has a nice backlit top, and great views of the still works. The Distillery looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss Book, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory- totally cool. I'm looking forward to taking the distillery tour (which now runs on Tuesdays and Saturdays, check their website). Our bartender was very informative as it was our first visit, and the passion for what they do just makes this place relaxing and unpretentious. I started with the Czech Mate, and while okay, I give that 3 out of 5 stars. My friend chose well with the Moscow Mule, and I've never had a better tasting MM, so that's what I enjoyed for my second drink. The ginger was so fresh, I felt like sushi would have been a great compliment to this drink! All drinks were $11- so affordable for what you get. And although it's a modern/classy place, they were also showing NCAA games on their flat screens (opening weekend of the Tournament). There's that unpretentious charm again. Can't wait to take the tour, and to make it here more frequently for after work drinks. Who's game?!

Amazing drinks, excellent spirits and some of the nicest bartenders in town. The ambiance is super cool, and have a great little patio out front. This is the kimd of place that will put Chicago on the map. A must try, for sure!

What a cool place. They distill their own spirits here and concoct innovative, smart, delicious cocktails. Great service, excellent atmosphere and each $11 signature drink was totally worth it. Gets packed around 11 but would be a great date night or ladies night spot.

Cool vibe, nice industrial feel, creative cocktails, helpful staff and they distill stuff in the back! Definitely check it out. Cindy for the "bastards bitter" and I got the "baron takes tea". Both superb.

Stopped in here while I was waiting for my table at Avec down the street. I got the old fashioned since I am an old school whiskey drinker. It was quite good and came at a fair price. The atmosphere and service was phenomenal. Our server was glad to explain all the drinks to us and help out with any questions we had. He was also genuinely interested in our feedback on the drinks and what we liked / didn't like.

Went there Friday night after dinner for a drink and ended up staying much longer due to the great experience. They have a fantastic drink selection, and each drink has a great presentation. All the drinks look pretty and taste even more delicious! We I definitely be back!

We decided to come here on a Wednesday night because our friend was visiting and they had an awesome deal: prix fixe 3 course meal, distillery tour, and a shot of vodka at the end for $35. Everyone should check out this place for their Wednesday special! The food was delicious; I especially loved the gnocchi. We were the only group on the tour. The tour guide was extremely informative and happy to answer all of our absurd questions. The equipment looked beautiful in its stainless steel coating. We couldn't believe all the stuff that goes on in that tiny back room. The cocktails were very tasty as well. I would recommend the Czech Mate if you like cinnamon!

I'm really glad we stopped by CH Distillery on a breezy tuesday night, as the drinks were AWESOME and the service was fantastic. The food was great too! The atmosphere is chic and modern, with gorgeous shiny booze makin' stills viewable through glass walls. We chose to sit outside on the small patio, and enjoyed the ambiance of big city life. The neighborhood is cute and not as crazy packed as other parts of downtown might be. Let me say, this place gets my palate. First, the drinks! I started with the "eastern empress" which featured house made gin, simple syrup, lemon and cucumber! It was quite refreshing. I let the cucumber sink to the bottom of my glass, and then smashed it up with my straw. The chunks of cucumber that made it into my mouth were a delight. Next up I tried a "rosemary's baby" which is my kind of drink people. So good, it was like drinking food. The rosemary syrup & house made peppered vodka packed such a flavor punch, I wished I wasn't driving so I could have drunk a gallon more. There were three of us, and we asked our server what would be the best small plates to get us all equal servings. She suggested options that all came in 3 portions. The corned duck on black rye with liverwurst? NICE. The whitefish spread with eggs and capers on rye? NICE again. The goat cheese spread with peas? SUPER NICE. These are the types of flavors I'm looking for. Five stars for drinks and snacks? Yeah man... this place gets me. 5 stars just for that.

You like vodka, I like vodka go on to CH Distillery. I took my boyfriend here on a scavenger hunt Valentines Day outing. This was the last stop and well worth it. We had there signature cocktails and truly enjoyed the quality and selection of vodka they have. The space is cozy and we made a reservation last minute which meant we could not be seated until 9:30pm. But whatev's we walked around the west loop and then came back in time to get some nummy noshes and delicious drinks. Service: Knowledgeable and sweet. They allowed us to move seats when we saw a cozy booth open up and were prompt with all of our requests. Food: I have had better, but it was a nice compliment to our drinks which were the stars of the night. We ordered the gnocchi. Id choose something else because it was bland in my opinion. The Potato Pancake. Another item that was just ok. And the gooey butter cake. I could have had three more. It was tasty Drinks: Cease and Desist - if you like gin you will thoroughly enjoy. Nice balance but a little too strong for my flavor Rosemary's Baby - yummy and refreshing Next time I will just have a vodka tonic, because the vodka was delicious and had a nice clean flavor that can stand on its own. Ambiance: Great for a girls night out, a group, or a date. Its sexy sleak, and you can find a lil nook with your man if you so choose. Ill be there again and plan on buying one of their bottles.

Hopped in here for a drink with my partner after he got off of work and it was well worth it. CH has a very chill atmosphere, great drink selection, offer tastes if you're curious about a certain alcohol they make, all in all a great place to hang out and have high quality drinks!

Came here for a friends bday post dinner. They do have food, but it's more snacky options rather than dinner. I tried the baron takes tea and the cease and desist - the latter tastes like a red hot that has been melted. Maybe good for your throat? the baron takes tea was not tea tasting at all, and I really liked this drink, I think they had muddled some fennel in it, great taste over all. This place is loud for sure, but they do distill and infuse their own gin and vodka. Good for a night out for drinks and they reserve tables/ areas for your party. What's really cool is that they do tours of the distillery area for you to learn their process and point of differentiation, and do a tasting with that as well. Definitely worth checking out.

We had a night at the Joffrey and I suggested heading West on Randolph, knowing we'd hit something good. But this was quite a surprise. Realizing it was a distillery and that the dinner menu was minuscule, I thought I made a mistake.... Well, we put in an order for the seared endive salad, PEI Mussels and Gnocchi with pork belly (about 70% of the menu). Best of all three I've had anywhere here or abroad, no joke -- apparently the chef recently came over from Avec. Only request might be for more menu options, but frankly could live happily off the scant offerings. Bravo.

Our daughter took us to try out this new spot. When we arrived, I wasn't sure exactly how this would work out - well, let me just say that this was well worth our visit. They are proud that are serving Chicago's Local Vodka (their own), but I love gin, and fortunately, their CH London Dry gin martini is sublime! Really! My daughter tells me that their CH Bourbon old fashioned was excellent too. They had great oysters - just the way we like them (East coast) and we also had their chipotle-lime peanuts and marconas (Mama's Nuts) and the 6 cheeses - together it all made for an excellent combination for a beautiful Chicago afternoon. So get down there - you won't regret it - not only do they make great spirits, cocktails and food, but they do so in a really cool place with a neat vibe. So check it out!

This place is awesome! Cease & desist was very good but it does have a smoky flavor so if you don't like smoky flavors then this one might not be for you. But we loved it. Czech mate was so good and such a weird but awesome combination of grapefruit and cinnamon. Definitely will be back to try others!

I was curious to visit and compare to my experience at another vodka distillery. I went on a Tuesday night about 8PM. Not crowded at all so I sat up to the bar. I was immediately handed a food and cocktail menu. I started with just the vodka on the rocks. It was smooth and ended well. I could sip on this all night but I wanted to try a few cocktails. I tried the Cease and Desist (thumbs down) and the Pegu Club (thumbs up). The C&D was bitter and the choice of tea that they used overpowered the drink. It also had a strong smell of burnt teaI couldn't even bring myself to go past a few sips. The Pegu Club turned out to be one I liked. It was fruity. Not too overpowering of flavors of aroma. I ended the night with another round of the straight vodka. The bartender chatted with me about the bar/restaurant. They have an impressive layout and I am sad that I was not there during a time they offered the tour. Next time I am in Chicago this will be a place I stop AND tour.

OMG what an amazing spot. It's tiny, but you can make a reservation for groups of 6 or more. Service was fantastic, and both the food and drinks were top notch. We pretty much tried half the cocktail menu and were never disappointed. I'm not a vodka fan, but I enjoyed the cinnamon infusion of the Czech Mate paired with grapefruit juice. The Cease and Desist was a crowd favorite, pretty much every round had at least two of those. Rosemary's Baby was a spin on a moscow mule that was highly delicious! The standard Moscow Mule was also good, but it's fun to try something innovative. The Lion's Tail was a nice summer bourbon drink, something you don't come across often. The Daiquiri is a grown up summer favorite, it was refreshing but not as interesting as the others. We ordered food to soak up the booze, not expecting much. Big mistake, the food is delicious too! We started with the cheese plate, all of which were tasty. The burrata was great, and the beets were delicious too. The winner of the night was a tie between the pork belly gnocchi (the meatiest pork belly I've ever had, and beautifully cured - on top of a perfectly cooked gnocci) and the gooey butter cake. We almost didn't order this one but our server was insistent that we try it. We wolfed it down, then immediately ordered a second. GET IT! CH is fantastic, I can't wait to return!

Went here with some business associates. Awesome place, great vibe. The service was outstanding. We just had drinks. Vodka was clean, crisp but with character. The cocktails were something special. You must try the Cease and Desist.

This place is really cool! The decor is great. The cocktails were outstanding. Service was prompt and courteous. We got seated at 7pm on a Friday night and it looked like there was still plenty of space. I'll be back.

The vodka tasting was great. I really liked the atmosphere too. The bartenders weren't friendly though.

I love this place. I love the lighting and music (random, but mostly good). The waitstaff has great knowledge about the cocktails and food, and are fun hang with, too. I've been here a couple times and especially love their vodka simply with soda, Czech Mate, Cease and Desist and Pegu Club. For food, I've tried the Kale Salad and Scallops (special of the night). Both were great apps to munch on with cocktails. I'll continue coming here!

Great place to enjoy classic cocktails, made with spirits distilled on site. Bottles are available for purchase. I bought a bottle each of both the London Dry and the Key gin. (Although I highly doubt I'll be able to replicate these cocktails in the confines of my home.) The atmosphere is sleek, sexy, and modern, and the well-crafted cocktails follow suit. Perfect for a date or a small group. I consumed four different cocktails during my visit, and each one was remarkable and delicious in its own way. While they're very "drinkable," take the time to sip and savor, rather than guzzle. Trust me on this. They're all works of art. I first tried the "Cease and Desist," (formerly known as "OxyContin" until CH Distillery was hit with a demand by Purdue Pharma to stop infringing on the trademark; in full compliance and good humor, the drink was renamed.) which was Lapsang Suchong infused London Dry gin, ginger, honey and lemon. Refreshing and zippy. I had to laugh when the drunk girl next to me ordered the "Cyst and Deceased." Next up was the "Eastern Empress," a concoction of cucumber, London Dry gin, simple syrup, lemon, and soda. Simple. Well-balanced. Pretty much my perfect cocktail. The "Clover Club" hit all the right marks: London Dry gin, raspberry, simple syrup, lemon, and frothy egg white. Yum. And they swirled a clover-leaf emblem in the egg white! Not to be outdone by all the aforementioned libations, "The Baron Takes Tea" was also sampled. It was so unique and unusual. Don't believe me? Have you ever had Earl Grey tea-infused gin? So yes, every drink I tried was gin-based. What can I say, I'm a gin-soaked barroom queen from Chicago. Anyone who delights in a well-made cocktail will appreciate CH Distillery. Indulge in anything off the menu, and prepare to have your taste buds teased.

This is a pretty unique place here in the city. I love that they are distilling their own spirits. I was unsure what to think when I walked in, was it going to be super trendy and the people annoying? It was not! There was definitely a cool vibe to the place but all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We tried a Moscow Mule (great), The Cease and Desist, A Key Gin and Soda, and a Vodka Martini. Everything was good although my husband and I both agree that the Moscow Mule was the best. Our bartender Preston was fantastic, we watched him make at least 100 egg white drinks in the short time we were there and he still did it with a smile on his face. We really enjoyed the experience and will certainly stop by again on our walk home. At this point I am not rushing to the store to buy their Vodka, but I will certainly be back to drink it in their craft cocktails.!

Pretentious but ok. Drinks are very good, their bourbon is delicately sweet but very powerfully strong. And the homemade limoncello is amazing. The wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly, but I couldn't help but feel that this was one of those establishments where you need to be of a certain type of clientele to fit in. One big downside; there's a strange smell inside, which is hard to pinpoint but doesn't go well with the also overpowering smell of cooking eggs that ferment throughout.

This place is a great place for unique cocktails. Every cocktail I had (3 of them from the menu) was delicious. The place is relatively small with a trendy, yet cozy atmosphere. The bar tenders are very knowledgeable and fun to interact with. The only disappoint was the food. We had 2 small plates (salmon and potato pancakes) and neither was very good.

If I could give this place a 4.5 I would. The only thing that somewhat tainted the experience was the decor of the place. While the hanging lights by the bar were awesome, everything else was a bit too modern for my taste. Besides that though, I loved their cocktail program 5/5/. I loved the cease and desist! My friend ordered a drink that I think had infused earl grey gin and egg white...it was crazy, in a good way. I personally don't know if I could have drank the whole thing, but it was so unique. I have never had a cocktail with such an interesting taste profile. I did not try any of the food, which all sounded good. Can't wait to go back and try some of the food options and order the cease and desist again.

Czech Mate isn't just a cute name for a cocktail. It's potent. It's inventive. Two of the ingredients, a cinnamon infused vodka and grapefruit, sound as if they would be repulsive, but they complemented each other well on a chilly fall evening. All cocktails are $13, which seems typical for Chicago and specifically this neighborhood. The menu is short and to the point, it appeared there were 4-6 traditional cocktails and another 4-6 specialty choices. It took the bartender's recommendation for me to settle on a drink as several ingredients were foreign to me, and I didn't want a booze bomb. The bartender was very nice and willing to answer any questions we had about the drinks. CH Distillery is worth a visit for at least a cocktail and to admire the décor. It's upscale and trendy, similar to how I would imagine Hollywood and Los Angeles bars to be. It's lots of cool, bright steel accents and Holiday/Patio-style lights above the bar. The tables are squeezed a bit too close together, but I'm sure that some evenings there is more legroom. On a Thursday evening there was not a wait, but almost every table was full. Everyone around me appeared to be having a good time. Cool spot for a twosome, or perhaps a foursome, but anything bigger than that could get a bit raucous. Since the focus of CH is being a vodka distillery, we did not try any of the food. With such a cool concept, I recommend having drinks here and having your appetizers and dinner elsewhere. They offer tours, so check out the website for more info on that. If I worked in the Loop and had time to kill before a train, I could definitely see myself having a lot of drink$ here.

This place is not just distillery, they are very creative cocktail bar run by very friendly people. The place is very nice and cozy. The manager's always there, she is very attentive as well. My fav is the Cease and Desist. My last 7-8 visit I'v never had anything else, always do the same over and over. It is that good.

HIGHLY recommend the tour! Tremaine (co-founder, distiller) is an entertaining host, and the tour itself is very educational. The cocktails are delicious as well- I got the moscow mule, bf got the old fashioned. These guys put a lot of heart and passion into what they do.

For just $15 you can take a tour of the distillery from the Food & Beverage director who is very knowledgeable of how vodka, gin, bourbon's are made. Made me appreciate the small batch quality of the vodka that I was able to taste at the end of the tour. Makes for a fun date night, or something different to do besides just going to a bar to grab a drink. You can of course just go to the bar to grab a local drink. Everything in these drinks is locally made. They had a good mix of classic cocktails & specialties. Would absolutely recommend, plus you can purchase a bottle to take home for only $35 - not bad for something local and unique (and tasty too)

Love this place. The ambiance is very unique, with the distillery equipment visible through the glass and an industrial-type decor. The specialties here are vodka and gin drinks, I had the Czech Mate and the Pegu Club, which were great. My date had the Baron Takes Tea and the Ceast and Desist, which had a unique presentation (i.e. interesting ice cubes) and tasted well-balanced. The food here is also tasty. Service is up to par, we had a great server named Zach.

One of the major Chicago distilleries that takes great pride in what they do. Their drink selection on the menu is not plentiful but they can always try to make the more classic drinks if you ask. Granted, they do not have all of the ingredients to make the classics, it never hurts to ask. I usually gauge the location's ability based on their old fashioned and gin and tonic (yes, very different styles) and I think both are very good! I have never really eaten here so cannot really give a feedback on that but when they pass by, it looks and smells pretty good! Overall, this is a place I bring my friends to whenever they visit from California and they are happy. Drink prices are reasonable (avg $11/drink) and if you can get seated, pretty fun place to just chill and have a drink.

Awesomely fresh and homemade dranks! Really cool concept - CH is a cocktail bar but their big windows behind the bar show the distillery as well. We reserved a table for a corporate event and had a tour that blew us away. You can tell the team at CH has fun and loves what they do from their tour, jokes, and attention to detail; and it shows in their drinks! After the tour you get a traditional shot of vodka served with rye bread and pickles. They will explain it, don't worry! I was a big fan of the Key Gin and thought it was so much smoother than others. It is right up there with Hendricks as far as unique gin flavor goes. Their signature cocktails are STRONG woah. Cease and Desist was not only strong in smokey & ginger flavor but after one I was feeling pretty good about myself. They are worth the $11. Also something I learned on the tour is that they have a unique distillery license but can only sell what they make which explains no red bull, pop products, etc. The Key Gin and Tonic was so smooth and their tonic is homemade as well. It is a cocktail bar so they don't have real hearty plates of food. What we had was good (especially the corned duck) but they are limited to what they can make on a small flat top behind the bar. If I see CH when I am out to dinner or at a bar I am going to talk it up for sure!

I just spent a fabulous cocktail hour at CH Distillery and it is a great addition to the neighborhood. The combination of house distilled spirits, artisan cocktails, and super cool setting is a killer combination. I like the chill vibe in this place, but I like the Gin based cocktails even more. Normally I'm a Bourbon guy, but at CH I'm a gin guy because they make it themselves and it is awesome. Two varieties London Dry (think juniper) and Key (think citrus) are served. Try them both. I had a number of cocktails on my inaugural visit and was pleased to find that all of the cocktails prominently featured their excellent Gin and none were too sweet - when I'm drinking I expect booze and not sugar, but that's just me. If you feel otherwise I've got some Marshmallow vodka to introduce you to. My favorite drink of the night was the Pegu Club. I love this drink not only because it has the same name as my favorite bar in NYC but because it has a complex set of bitter and citrus notes which perfectly compliment the super yummy gin. Rhymes with Orange was also a success. The chili was awesome. I was afraid this drink would be too sweet since it had watermelon in it - boy, was I wrong. Finally, I'd recommend the Oxycontin, not because it is addictive (sorry, I had to say it) but because it is complex, smoky, and delicious. In short - this is a great addition to the cocktail scene. CH does a great job of highlighting their excellent house made liquors with a great set of adult, not sweet cocktails. Plus, the room is terrific with a great view of the street life walking by. Oh yeah, and they serve a lot of vodka cocktails as well. They make their own vodka, which I'm sure is excellent, like their gin. But you know how I feel about vodka.

The vodka is smooth and delicious. The drinks were well prepared, although a bit pricey. The tour was cute and fun, although too long. Welcome a new vodka to the city. Fun!

  • Jeffie J.

What a fantastic addition to the Chicago "scene." Sit at the illuminated bar and order a flight of 4 clear spirits distilled right in front of you. Vodka, rum and 2 gins. I liked them in reverse order, and that surprised me, which is the point of trying new things. Chase them with rye bread and pickles. Order from the small menu of well prepared small plates. The melon salad was a refreshing sweet & salty mix of melon, green and red tomatoes. Chat with the servers--they're knowledgeable and friendly. And judging from the semi-grungey grey T-shirts, they don't take themselves too seriously here. Are we having fun yet? No, you can't have dinner here, and there is no wine--they serve just what is distilled in house. So it's a perfect place to start--or end--your evening.

What a great place! A friend brought another friend and I here to try out their unique drinks and to try out their food. I started off with the Clover Club. It was sweet (just the way I like it), yet tangy. My second drink was the Baron Takes Tea which I actually liked more...it was fantastic, even though I typically enjoy sweeter and fruitier cocktails. I must say that I was quite impressed with its flavor. My friend ordered the Cease and Desist, which he loved. Considering he's quite the drink connoisseur, I imagine that it was indeed as good as he said it was. Their "dinner" is actually shareable plates. We ordered the endives salad, the fennel, gnocchi, corned duck, mussels, and their elk. The elk was interesting, though not spectacular despite it being something unique that none of us had had before. The fennel, one of the specials of the day, wasn't that great either...especially if you're not a fan of something that is bitter....same goes for the endive salad, although I thought it proved much tastier and less bitter if you eat it with the feta and pickled fennel. My favorites would definitely be the gnocchi, duck and the mussels. While the mussels weren't too meaty and a bit small, the cream that they were soaked in was amazing! They came with slices of fluffy toasted bread which you could dip into the cream to enjoy. Fantastic!...with leeks and sunchokes to add some texture and more flavor. Needless to say, we asked for more bread! One of my friends and I were iffy on the prospects of the duck, but it proved to be really good....a great flavor combination with the liverwurst and black rye. I enjoyed the gnocchi which were pretty large and super soft and a good end to the meal. The venue itself is really nice, modern, trendy, and spacious despite it being a relatively smaller establishment. The service was awesome! In addition to having a very attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable server (Emily), the other people who came over to either fill our drinks or bring over our food were all great!

glad to see that people are discovering this place b/c i finally had to wait 2-3mins for a table for the first time a few nights ago! happy to do it again and hope the good word continues to spread: beautiful concept, space, prices, pours, plates, and delivery. take your Scandinavian friends here if you really want to earn some bonus points~ relieved to read so far that no one has obnoxiously and unnecessarily chosen to ding these guys for serving up their Moscow mules in something other than a copper cup--i for one like the update ^_^ still, the cease and desist is my new go-to and probably the best gin-based cocktail i've ever had. 1 is enough if you want it to be!

The 2-star rating is for "I've experienced better" and that is the case regarding CH. There are so many cocktail bars in Chicago, and many are better than CH. I like that CH is distilling their own material, but I think they need to take it to the next level. I'm definitely going to be back and will hopefully have an experience that is worthy of a higher star rating. I was a bit disappointed that they were not willing to build a cocktail that wasn't on the list. I'm fine with their decision; however, it's always fun to interact with a bartender and end up with an inspired cocktail. It should be noted that in other reviews, people did received off-the-menu drinks. The food was very good but expensive. For example: I really enjoyed the chicken thigh slider special, but for the price of a full-sized burger/sandwich it was a bit steep. CH is worth the visit and they are on the right path, but hopefully they continue to grow and improve.

Super friendly staff! Really enjoyed our experience there. However bar 1/2 rd booth was a bit uncomfortable especially when crowded. They willingly made me a drink not on the "menu" and it was a great attempt but not perfect... (It's hard to make a Ramos gin fizz) Had the meat cheese and almonds and was really great as an appetizer... FYI very small and expensive. Overall great place great distillery great drinks fun place to have a cocktail.

Love this place! Great bartenders. Delicious food which is impressive from such a tiny kitchen. One of the best gnocchi dishes I've had. Love their cocktails and house made spirits. Wish they were open later!!

Yes:CZECH MATE, PEGU CLUB No: MOSCOW MULE, THE TRADITION I really liked the atmosphere. I thought the drinks were reasonably priced and liked that they made their own alcohol. The bar can get pretty crowded, i had to push my way from the front tables to the bathroom. Other than that I had a great time.

HUGE fan of CH Distillery! Being in my mid-30's, I love bars that are age appropriate. This place fits that bill and serves drinks that are made with spirits distilled right on premises. Check it out!

  • Emily H.

I absolutely loved CH Distillery. The drinks were amazing! The only draw back is that the tables are incredibly close together, I felt like I was on the blind date next to me! The Czech Mate was wonderful and I am typically not a cocktail drinker! I am going back again this weekend!

  • Chris D.

What an experience. And I mean just that. Chicago's first and only vodka distillery is so much more then that! The drinks are like very few in town. From the extensive knowledge of the tenders to the unique ice catered to specific drinks you can't go wrong. You have to have an OxyContin turned cease and desist. My only complaint is I wish they opened even just an hour sooner so I could come more often before my train home. I'll be back... A lot.

What is sexier than sipping cocktails by the candlelight? Not much, when they are as well-crafted as CH's. Coming in for drinks to start our five-year anniversary was decidedly a very good idea. And not only because the bar/distillery is located two blocks from our work. Even though CH makes vodka (and provides carafe service with a side of rye bread and pickles, doesn't it sound intriguing?) and whiskey, come here for the gin. Declined in London dry or key (with notes of white pepper, lavender and key lime fruits), gin was our booze of choice on that night. We liked it so much that we left with a bottle ($35). Priced at $11 a pop, cocktails are inventive to the point of surprising, like the Czech Mate, accurately described by our waiter as "Christmas in a glass": cinnamon and grapefruit might not be your idea of a perfect combination, but it works wonder with a splash of honey and vodka. The Cease and Desist combines the exotic, smoky flavor of Lapsang Suchong black tea to the bright notes of ginger, and rolls as smoothly on your tongue as the ice ball in your glass. Classics are also perfectly executed: the clover club, that comes the added benefit of a generous portion (I received a little side pitcher!), or the martini (with key gin) were just what I needed before heading to dinner. Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere is classy while being subdued. A perfect date spot

Very cool place and beautiful. I ordered a cocktail with gin, which I usually don't love, and it was fantastic. Another one of us got the cease and desist which he said was the best gin cocktail he'd ever had (ask the staff why it's called the cease and desist, great story!). Very friendly staff, and informative. The food sounds delicious I plan to go back for a distillery tour and some food.

We stopped in here on our way to dinner to see the place and get a drink. Apparently it is one of the first distilleries to jump through all the hoops necessary to legally distill here in Chicago. The place seems great. The décor and atmosphere is super well done. Very chic, but you can see the actual distillery floor through big glass windows behind the bar. The cocktail I got was excellent (Cease and Desist), maybe my favorite cocktail I've ever had. And I tried a few other people's that were good too (Baron Takes Tea was one I think). I'd like to go back and try their Moscow Mule. The have food too, which we didn't try, but I'd like to. Great drink, seems like a great spot, we'll be back.

I don't get to Chicago often, but when I do get the chance, I love to go out and about. This trip I visited CH Distillery and was "wowed"! The venue is great, inviting with a cool view of where it all happens (the distilling)behind a huge glass panel. The two vodka cocktails I had we're delicious, and I especially enjoyed the classic sour. I also sampled their distilled offering of vodka, 2 gins and a rum. I'm usually not a gin drinker, but these gins could change my mind. The staff was really friendly and professional. I'm sorry I didn't get to try the food, but I will next time...and there will definitely be a next time.

This place is so cool! We sat by the window in the front which slides all the way open, making it feel like you were outside basically. I had the eastern empress and was surprised it was so good. Would definitely come back. Love that you can see the distillery from anywhere in the bar. Unique!

People must be getting caught up in the novelty of being able to drink liquors distilled on site or mesmerized by the beauty of the still because I just can't understand all the rave reviews. Because of that, CH Distillery doesn't have any lasting power to me, and I can't imagine returning to a place that's only fine but not good or great. To the drinks: First, The Tradition. Given how chilled the vodka is, it's not that smooth. The cornichons were necessary to balance (i.e. chase) out the vodka. I think it's the gimmick of being ballsy enough to serve a shot and list it with cocktails that appeals to everyone else. The cocktails sounded creative but were actually somewhat disappointing. Czech Mate - Overall, the flavor wasn't bad but the cinnamon overpowered everything else in the drink. The grapefruit was undetectable beyond a vague flavor of citrus and the honey was similar obscured beyond a note of sweetness. Cease and Desist - Better than the Czech Mate, but still was a bit one dimensional. The smokiness from the lapsang souchong should appeal to fans of mezcal, but the smokiness means gin drinkers won't be able to taste any of gin. Baron Takes Tea - This was my favorite, and the only one that seemed to truly capture all of the flavors described on the menu in a balanced way.

Great addition to the West Loop. The cocktails are fantastic and the few small plates my girlfriend and I tried were amazeballs. The atmosphere was really cool, although the place was a lot smaller than I was expecting. Prices are as to be expected @ $11 per cocktail. But well worth it in my opinion! Can't wait to to back!

Surprisingly impressed! I had heard good things, but as a new establishment I thought it would be more hype than substance. I was definitely proved wrong on Thursday night. I stopped in for happy hour with some girlfriends and the place was packed. Although it was packed, we found a spot off to the side to stand and the servers immediately came to great us. The server recommended drinks (throughout the night, we tried all that were on their menu) and we were impressed. My favorite was the Czech Mate. Perfectly spicey (cinnamon/allspice) and tart/sweet with the honey syrup and grapefruit juice. I can't wait to come back with other friends.

Wow! I loved this place! My husband and I stopped by after work on Friday to kill some time before meeting friends for dinner. We walked in around 6:30PM, and it was packed. There was a 30 min wait for a table, so we just decided to grab a drink by the bar. Every chair was taken at the bar, so we couldn't get right up to the bar. Before we could start looking for a menu, a server walked up and handed us drink menus. He said he would be right back to take our order. After he took our order, a bartender actually walked over to make sure someone had helped us. The bartender then delivered the drinks to where we were standing, offered to hang my coat up so I could free up my hands, and kept my sidecar at the bar until I was ready for it. What service! As for the drinks, they were awesome. I had the 'Czech Mate' and my husband had the 'The Baron Takes Tea'. We didn't have time to try the food, but the dishes looked delicious. I can't wait to come back to try the food and more cocktails!

We were able to be seated right away which was nice. Very neat atmosphere. The distillery in the background was definitely a nice touch. Very impressive that their alcohol is all made there. Food came out before our drinks which is not the end of the world, just noted. Took quite some time for server to come back to even ask for second drinks or if we wanted any more food. It was observed that at least 3 workers were on their cell phones a majority of the time we were there, including those preparing our food. Could be the atmosphere they were trying to portray, being extremely laid back. Just did not help when we were waiting on drinks and food that there was a congregation of workers all hanging out in a group near the front. As we left, there was a hostess at the stand that hardly got out the words "thank you" as we passed because she too was on her cell phone as we left. Again, if that's the atmosphere it is suppose to portray then alright. Just not something we are used to. Food was good however. The Czech mate was great and the gnocchi was excellent. Server was pleasant.

Been here for drinks a couple of times. Love the dessert cocktail I had Saturday, it tasted like a creamsicle in a glass. Also tried the Baron Takes Tea (loved), and the Cease and Desist (loved). On another visit, tried the Eastern Empress and it was good, but not as good as Sable's similar War of the Roses....The Czech Mate tasted like a Red Hot. All in all, a good bar for a grown up drink in the area.

I'm almost looking forward to hearing I'll have a two-hour wait at Avec the next time I try to eat there, just so I can hole up at CH for a few more drinks. Damn, these were great; our group of six dropped by this past Friday night and I tried the Cease & Desist and the Hot Toddy. Scrumptious (if I can use that word to describe a drink)!! I'm really not sure which one I liked more, but the service was great and I like the space a lot. No idea how the food is but for drinks alone, I don't think you can go wrong. We also tried a drink with Czech in the name, plus a couple of the bourbon old fashioned. Yessir!

This is a fantastic little joint! Cool, artisan drinks paired with decadent eats. They have a great thing going here! Add to the above, exceptional, knowledgable service and you can bet we'll be back whenever our travel plans include Chicago. LOVED this place!

Nice.......I found this place listed in the Chicago Magazine and thought it would be perfect to try for my husband's birthday. We visited after dinner on a Saturday night. Our server was helpful, friendly, and informative. She recommended the key gin in my husband's martini (amazing choice) and the panna cotta (yummmmmmmm). My Czech Mate was well crafted and delicious!! The space was nice, and the location is great for those that work in the Loop and also for those of us that love the Randolph Street dining options. Will be back!!

Average place in general. Hostess was rude which kicked off our experience on a bad note. Note to manager: Hire hostesses with engaging personalities. I'm not surprised your restaurant was half empty on a Friday night during the peak season. The concept for the restaurant is good, but you've made bad hiring decisions.

Serious cocktails and polished small plates! Enjoyed a pre dinner nosh on date night. Restaurant was empty at 5:00 and was full by 5:45 with the after work crowd. Ordered the Rhymes with orange cocktail and it was awesome. Had a little kick from the Serrano chili infused Vodka , was a touch sweet and overall very balanced. Wanted to order all the food on the menu as it all sounded so good. We ended up ordering the Gnocchi . Amazing! Light, fluffy gnocchi, meaty pork belly and sweet peas, I am dreaming about it still 5 days later. We also ordered the Corned Duck which was also so good. We really liked the preserved lemon with fattiness of the duck and liverwurst. Can't believe that all of their food comes out a kitchen that is seriously 10x10. Will be recommending to others!

YES!!! I'm delighted that CH is only 2 blocks away from me. CH makes or distills their own gin, whiskey, vodka and rum and I likes me gin and whiskey. However I only saw gin and vodka on the menu. The bartenders are very professional and polite. Mixed drinks are only $11. Decor is minimalist and modern and you can see the shiny happy distillery contraption behind the bar. I dig the super white illuminated bar counter - it made me feel sophist-ama-cated. For those who want anything but gin or vodka, you maybe SOL.

Wow. I found this place on Thrillist and decided to go out with a few friends for a drink. We were impressed before we even walked inside. The beautiful stills sit behind a glass and they look like something out of a sci-fi movie. The drinks did not disappoint either. Made with their own alcohol made on site, they were truly unique. Their vodkas are mostly infused with fruits or teas, and are not the typical flavored vodkas you can pick up at your local Binny's. They hype the "art of alcohol" concept here and serve some of their drinks in beakers and flasks. Very cool! Overall, pleasant experience and the staff deserves 5 stars for their knowledge, amazing recommendation, and entertaining conversation. Will be back for the vodka making tour.

Walked in at 7:39pm on a saturday with 2 friends and got seated right away. Woohoo!Modern decor with the visual focus being the distillary tanks that are exposed begin the glass wall behind the bar area. We tried 3 cocktails none of which were overly sweet: Czech mate - loved it! vodka based with cinnamon notes and light citrus from grapefruit juice, refreshing and light Baron takes Tea - very good gin based with fragrant earl gray and richness from egg white Cease and Desist- our Favourite of the night! Gin based and Truly distinctive smokiness coming from the lapsang souchong. This is the cocktail i would return for ;-)

This concept is brilliant. A gorgeous distillery makes the backdrop for one of the coolest new bars in the city, where the only alcohol they serve is made in house. I definitely recommend trying the raw spirits first (particularly the vodka and their two gins) and then trying any of the well-balanced cocktails. Service is great and the staff is superb at answering questions about the distilling process and making recommendations. Definitely recommend this as a great date spot or post-work cocktail hour.

Had been wanting to go for some time and happened to walk by on our way home from dinner. Ended up being one of the quietest nights of the year according to the staff. Sat at the bar and were well taken care of by Luke and Preston. They gave us a nice little history about the place and their offerings. I like the idea of supporting the local economy and, well, I like good drinks so it all worked out in my favor! I had the Cease and Desist and the hubby had the Moscow Mule. Both excellent. They gave us a sample of the limoncello as well as their vodka. We even went home with a couple of bottles. Not the cheapest alcohol in the world but I'm willing to pay a little extra for quality and the fact that it is distilled in Chicago. Didn't try any of the small plates but that is on my list of things to do. Will definitely be back!

Really like this place! All the drinks I tried were really good and the gnocchi was amazing. Everything on the menu pairs well with vodka so that was nice. Cool atmosphere and easy street parking. Will be returning.

Cease and Desist was delicious! We stopped in at ch while waiting for our table at Avec. I can't comment on the food, but we really enjoyed our gin drinks. The space was very minimalist and chic. Will definitely be back.

The drinks are good and the bar is very beautiful. I really liked the music and the drinks weren't too expensive. The drinks tasted good but I didn't care for the after taste and I do wish the drinks on average were a little stronger but overall its a nice spot.

Great spot and a welcome addition to the Loop. I would call their vodka dangerously good and close to perfect. If you have a penchant for having one too many than you certainly will here. The creative small plates are excellent and help you linger. Not particularly easy on the wallet.

Met a client here for a post-work drink and found the atmosphere to be invigorating and inviting. We were able to easily have a conversation over truly unique cocktails. Enjoyed the CH Vodka neat - clean taste. I was a little underwhelmed by the service as we waited some time to be served eventually being helped by another waiter. My vodka did not come to chilled, that had to be requested. Loved the large round Japanese-style ice cube presentation.

Is it possible for a bar to be pretentious and laidback at the same time? We came by for drinks after dinner, so can't really say much about the food. Seeing some of it while we were there, and looking at the menu on their site, I knew it wasn't really for me. Walking in, the place looks like it's almost trying too hard to be trendy and modern- which gave off a cold feeling. However, when we sat down at the bar, the staff was very friendly and engaging. They were eager to hear what we thought of our drinks, and gave us some background about their company. I was a little disappointed they didn't have any of the rum or whiskey mentioned on their website, but I guess those particular libations do take some time. I got one of the CH signature cocktails, Czech Mate. By no means am I a cocktail connoisseur, but I thought combination of cinnamon spice, grapefruit juice and honey syrup with vodka, made for a delicious drink. My only complaint is that it came in a smaller version of a champagne glass, which made me feel like I should be discussing makeup tips and episodes of Sex and The City with a group of girls. You almost miss this place if you're walking down Randolph, but stop in and give them a try if you're in the neighborhood.

Stopped by for a quick drink. Seemed like a trendy place and was pretty small on the inside, but very cozy. You can see part of the distillery behind the bar. I got The Baron Takes Tea, which is earl grey infused key gin, lemon, simple syrup, egg white and soda. I liked mine the best out of the drinks my friends and I got. Very light, not too strong. You can also buy their spirits and the bottles looked pretty cool. We just got one round of drinks but I would have liked to learn some more about the distillery.

Every drink I tried was unique, surprising, creative, and delicious. My wife and I sampled many of the specialty cocktails, but the biggest surprise of the night was the gin and tonic; the best gin and tonic I've ever had. In fact, nothing ever came close. They make their own tonic water, not to mention their own gin, resulting in a cocktail at least a league above any "top-shelf" gin and tonic I've had at any less unique establishment, however classy. The downside is that CH Distillery has ruined supermarket tonic for me. I've tasted what a gin and tonic can be, and I can't un-taste. If I ever want to enjoy a gin and tonic at home again, it looks like I'll have to learn to make tonic syrup.
