The food here is fantastic, and it's BYOB. I had the tilapia in the tomato sauce, definitely recommend. Be careful using vouchers, the server messed it up and I'm pretty sure we paid more than we should've with the voucher.

This is the same food as Ay Ay Picante (which I love) but the restaurant is much more spacious and modern than the location on Elston. I love how they kept the same vibe, dimmed lighting for a romantic/intimate atmosphere. Definitely am a fan of both restaurants and of course I will be back. FYI - they don't serve alcohol here but its BYOB.

This establishment is 1 stars at best. I have an upset stomach and I generally do not get one ever except after eating an entire Gino's east deep dish pizza.... We were the literally the only people in the restraunt and it took forever to get our food. I have no idea how it's 4.5.... Our friends that live around the corner said it used to be a shady bar and the feel inside is nice but u can tell it was a bar. Also, it was 55$... It was Panda Express quality food and meh service. How do I ha e an empty water glass with an empty restaurant. Ambience is ok. Very Peruvian, repetitive salsa music playing, no one there at all. This is generally a sign. A party of drunk women was leaving saying how good it was. The chairs are minimal And sorta uncomfy and the tables are nice. The 12$ ceviche, which was charged as 17$ but we got a 'free desert', had 4 shrimp. They were warm. A bunch of avocado tho lord. The stuff tatted like potato salad no joke. It had watercress... My water glass had been empty for a long time and we were the ONLY people there. The food also took Avery long time to come out. Not a single dish really stood out to me at all and I did not want fried seafood. I opted to have 'filet Mingon' which was slightly chewy yet OK. There were 4 octopus loops and the shrimp were gross and smelled fishy, and the octopus was just meh. The vegetables were cold and hard and the mushroom 'risotto' was outta a can. My girlfriend barely ate any of her pasta and I did t kno why till we got home. The parts was brown... Like dark dark brown but I had no idea in the restaurant back it was so dark. I wanted to throw it out. Over the food quality was not good. Very poor ingredients. No flavor. I will not return. Canned looking food. Also, this is me personally but the one server was incredibly up in my business he was like on top of my phone and moving my coat and phone case and reaching over me moving my food boxes. DO NOT. REARRANGE MY THINGS ON MY DINNER table. The dessert was ok. Could've used more sauce very watery sponge. So many other options to choose from near-by please go elsewhere.. It will be closed it is always empty.

This is place is the sister restaurant of "Ay Ay Picante" on Elston in the Albany Park neighborhood. Currently, they share the identical menu items as you would see when dining at Ay Ay Picante. Hubby and I visited Ay Ay Picante on the Christmas Day, by accident, and had a great impression on the restaurant and menu items they offer. We both tried different seafood dishes this time: arroz con mariscos and picante de mariscos. We received a good service from the young man at the restaurant and generously rendered us some fresh bread with that "legendary" green sauce. Yes, that green sauce is merely amazing. It's creamy, garlicky, and delicious! As I mentioned on my Ay Ay Picante review, their portions are large enough to take home. A typical seafood entree runs in between $16 to $20. I know it's somewhat pricy, but purchasing a groupon will certainly help with the cost. The "Ceviche" restaurant in Logan Square offers a groupon deal as well; it was $16 for $30 worth of food and beverage purchases. The balance came to $7.15 after the groupon, before tax and tips. Yes, this is how we "do" (incorrect grammar, but I'm just trying to be cool and modern). If you like any kind of seafood and like it done with a bold flavor, I will totally recommend Ceviche and Ay Ay Picante.

We were there on a Saturday night and had such a great experience. The place was close to full but so nice you could walk in and get a table during peak Saturday dinner hours. The BYOB status is fantastic. The service was some of the best we have had in Chicago and our server was wonderful (Fernando I believe). He even gave us a little tour of the place and the plans for the bar and private party room. The green sauce and bread are to die for! We also had the Ceviche mixto, the Filet (and a steal at $23) with potatoes and veggies and a mixed seafood entrée. All were great and the char on the steak was superbly done. The cooks obviously know how to cook meat and seafood properly. The room could use a little warming up (it's a bit scattered design wise as you can tell they are trying to cover up the prior night club layout) with some additional curtains especially on the bare walls upstairs. Will definitely be coming back.

Bought a Groupon in order to try this place out and we are glad that we did. Excellent food. Our waiter was very friendly...great service. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer and it was awesome. We tried a mixed seafood entree that our waiter recommended and it was very good. The ambiance is pleasant. It is also BYOB which we consider a plus. We can't wait to go back.

Very accommodating for family of 5 (three small children). Waitstaff helpful and the manager made fried rice for kids and split on three bowls. Food very tasty and flavorful. The location is not ideal but there is metered diagonal parking on the side. Hope this place will stay!

Being Peruvian, I am always picky about finding peruvian places with great ambiance and dishes with great taste, I am writing this review after my third time being here, from the moment I walk in, the staff is super friendly, very attentive and most important corteus. Food has kept its great flavor since the firat time I came here and overall an excellent place to find great Peruvian food, excellent service and great restaurant atmosphere.

I love this restaurant! I cannot rave enough about the service, the food and the romantic atmosphere. Same menu as Ay Ay Picante, but less crowded and more intimate. Also, it's a BYOB which we love. Long story short, I would eat here every weekend if I could.

Terrific food - great service and nice overall feel. Two of us ordered hat seemed to be a reasonable amount of food -- appetizers and dinner, but this was enough for three or maybe four people to share. We had two delicious appetizers; the grilled octopus and the avocado stuffed with seafood. Our entrees were way too many mussels and ceviche that ended up as a take-home meal. Definitely try this place and don't let the exterior dissuade you.

  • Wendy S.

Ceviche was great and a very large portion. Could be an entree. The Papa Reienno was layered with delicious red onions, and the Seco was enough for two a great white bean side. The prices were very reasonable and great romantic spot! They gave us a free dessert and chichamaorada

  • Hanna B.

Great food and service! The waiter took the time to talk to us and make us feel really comfortable there. My friend and I shared a plate of ceviche mixto and the ají de gallina. Portions are big enough to split (at least for two decently hungry girls). The ceviche was spicy and flavorful and felt very fresh. The ají de gallina was also full of awesomeness. The sauce was so good! I was very much reminded of the month I spent in Lima a few years ago. The place was pretty empty, but it was a Wednesday night. The location isn't in the middle of a lot of things, but it's worth a trip for the food and service. I hope to see this place get packed in the future!

Really loved this restaurant! Went here at 8pm on Wednesday and had a wonderful experience! BYOB is a huge plus for me but the food and service were also great! I had the papas rellenos appetizer which was delicious and I put their green sauce on everything! For an entree I had the chicken and mushrooms which was very good. I love peruvian food because it is very clean and simple. The flavors were perfect. Our service was also very good and I'm so glad I found this restaurant.

My wife is from Peru and we were looking for a authentic Peruvian food and we found it. The Anticuchos, Tallarin Verde con Bistec, Seco de Carne and the Mil Hojas were right on point. Happy wife happy life! Great service.

  • Peter T.

Outstanding food from start to finish, and very friendly service. The menu is huge, but the waitstaff helps navigate all the different choices of steak, chicken, fish, seafood, and even Peruvian pasta dishes. I had the seco de carne, a beef and vegetable stew that is cooked with beer and is super tender and rich. It came with rice and a velvety white bean side dish that was fantastic. The complimentary bread is served with some kind of verde sauce which is much better than plain butter. I loved it!

I went here last night after having purchased the groupon over a month ago. The food was great. We ordered ceviche, fried rice, and the ribeye. It was way too much food for 2 people, but there wasn't any other way to order with the price point. That is the main problem I had with this place: the price point makes absolutely no sense. Peruvian food is a new experience for most people, and it would be nice if they offered smaller portions instead of being forced to order only one size of fried rice for $17! The atmosphere was very dark as well, which is another reason for the 3 star review.

Alot of people recommended this place to me. So we finally went on a Sunday after church. Great dim lighting, nice soft hispanic music, calm atmosphere, customer service was on point, friendly and very attentive. Sundays they have a buffet. We chose to go with the buffet. I believe it was 14.99 It was delicious! They had ceviche, lamb, rice, like 2 different kind of chickens (one was Lemon chicken) other things that we have never seen before very very yummy! We went with kids ages 8 and 10 and they didn't charge us for them, so that was nice. Nice place for a date night!

I was there with a friend having my birthday dinner and what a surprise it was with the food! We walked in there were not many people there but shortly after more and more patrons started walking in. The place is BYOB so that pretty good. On to the food..... we started off with the ceviche mixto (per the recommendation of our waiter Luis). He was not kidding when he said it was a great app. Then we ordered 2 entrees, the mar y tierra (surf and turf) and the jalea de mariscos (deep fried shrimp, calamari, and fish) and their portions were very generous but the overall taste of the food was awesome!! Since it was my bday I got some sort of flan which was great and went very well with my coffee. One thing I did notice is that they use the same menu as Ay Ay Picante since apparently they are owned by the same person but I thought that was weird. My friend ordered a cappuccino (since its listed on the menu) however Ceviche doesn't serve them... lol. The service overall was great, Luis kept checking up on us but was not there every 2minutes like a lot other restaurants. I will hopefully be back soon to try other dishes.

Civeche is one of our favorite resturants, so when my fiancé and I were looking for a place to have our wedding, it scored top on our list. Not only did we have our reception there, but also did our ceremony in the back room. The staff was excellent from the moment we inquired about using the place to the day after the wedding when they helped us pack all the stuff we brought in and get it to our cars. There were 130 attendees at the wedding. Pierro, the manger made sure everything went on without a flaw; even ordering special white table clothes for the occasion. Between the ceremony and the reception, guests were given passed horsdevors followed by an elegant sit-down 4 course meal. The main course, which consisted of a combo plate with filet, chicken and scallops tasted way better than any hotel/ banquette hall wedding meal I've ever had and people raved about the food all night long. As a added bonus, Ceviche is BYOB, so we saved a ton on liqueur. All this at about half the cost per person of the average hotel meal. Thanks to Ceviche for making our wedding day perfect.

We loved this place! It is definitely the best Ceviche I have had in Chicago (or anywhere I can think of). I ordered the Ceviche Mixto, which had a generous portion of the most fresh seafood imaginable. Even the leftovers the next day were still delicious, and that can be hard to come by with raw seafood. So good! My boyfriend had the parihuela seafood soup, and that was amazing as well. The empanadas were made with raisins and egg (in addition to beef), and they were INCREDIBLE! I wish I ordered 20 :) We also really enjoyed the fried calamari appetizer, which came with corn and fried yuca, as well as a special sauce and fresh onions. The bread that comes on the house was also freshly baked and great. For dessert, we loved the flan as well as an alfajore, a delicious cookie-type pastry. The service was excellent - Sandro and the other staff members were all super nice and accommodating. I found the ambiance to be romantic and cozy, there is a whole upper area overlooking the rest of the restaurant with pretty views of the 2 huge and beautiful chandeliers. The decorations from Peru are a nice touch as well. They also had live music, a Peruvian classical guitarist. We will be back - again and again - for sure!

Finally found a restaurant my husband was able to rave about! Wonderful selection of beef and fish prepared Peruvian style in special sauces and seasonings that will please any palate. Reasonably priced, ample portions of food. BYOB which helped keep the cost of the dinner down. Attentive service, not crowded, pleasant atmosphere and music. Loved this place!

Five stars for absolutely delightful experience from beginning to end! I would consider this restaurant an unassuming gem. Service: I called in advance for a reservation and the host was extremely friendly. I changed our reservation time and the host was more than willing to assist. And I see why because when we entered, the place was nearly empty. At that point, I was unsure of how our dining experience would fare but the server helped us feel comfortable. He spoke with a very casual, inviting demeanor and was an expert in the menu. He even gave us recommendations on what to order and the flavor profile of each item, which we appreciated. I think this place is very authentic. Food: We ordered three items: beef hearts appetizer, Peruvian-style seafood paella, and ceviche pescada (fish ceviche). Each item was delicious! Don't be alarmed by the beef hearts--the taste and texture is that of tender, marinated beef. The seafood paella is Peruvian-style, meaning that it was prepared in a wok so it lacks that crust that is traditionally found in Spanish paellas. We still enjoyed it, but just FYI in case you're expecting some crust. The combination of all the dishes helped balance each other, as the ceviche is very citrus-y (as it typically is). Price: Everything was priced very reasonably. Portion sizes were generous for one person, so we shared all the dishes amongst our table of three. We used a Groupon offer to sweeten the deal, so the total cost for all three dishes, tax, and gratuity was under $40! Ambiance: The interior is dimly lit for an intimate environment, with a beautiful chandelier in the high ceiling. It would feel a bit more comfortable if there were more diners though. The exterior of the restaurant leaves much to be desired...to be honest, the restaurant looks charred from the curb. I heard that the building used to be a club, which makes alot of sense when you walk through. But overall, the ambiance and look of the restaurant is not bad at all, just furthers my point that it's an "unassuming gem." Five stars for the overall experience, I would definitely go back!

It was surprising that it was so quiet for a Saturday evening. Maybe the warmer weather turned everyone into a grilling machine and they decided not to eat out. Unlike our lazy and indulgent selves, my boyfriend and I came to partake in steak and seafood. The place is pretty spacious and even the table settings were far enough from other diners where you didn't feel like your chair would bump into someone from behind you. We were seated promptly and got the bread and avocado dip which I really loved. I want them to bottle it up and sell it so I could buy it and put it in my sandwiches and dip it with other stuff. I had the meat empanada and that was very tasty, also with the dip even more yummy! I had the mixed seafood ceviche and this was a pretty big portion and very tasty. I also had some of my boyfriend's steak which was very tender and juicy. The guacamole and a citrusy taste to it but also very good. I would have loved to have made room for dessert, but just couldn't fit it in. The prices are reasonable and the service was good as well.

The bread and dipping sauce was great. My steak was great. Everything else (my boyfriend's entire meal and my sides) was truly mediocre. Desert was not good. To make things worse, it's way overpriced.

We had an experience that was rather strange, indeed. We went in for lunch and the place was empty, except for a group of gentlemen who seemed to be very familiar with the place (owners? friends of owners??). No one greeted me and when I asked one of the group if they were open he responded "of course". I grabbed a table in the HUGE dining room where all of the tables except for one were empty. We were sent here by our neighbors as it's right down the street, so we figured we'd keep giving it a chance. The food was good and fresh, but very pricey and huge portions for a lunch. There was a $30 brunch but no lunch specials or the like. We'd probably go back for a dinner, but I don't think we'll be doing any more lunches there unless we hear about a lunch menu coming out.

I came here with my sister and her friends, and it was honestly so good. The food is really really good, and it sucks not everyone would get a chance to try it. This place looks horrible on the outside, but it's truly so cute in the inside. Give this place a try, you won't regret it.

I didn't realize when we got to the restaurant, that they were under the same ownership as Ay Ay Picante. We decided to go with them because of my fiance's graduation and the fact that we had a larger party. The service was great and they were definitely able to handle a larger party! The food did not do it for me though! I ordered a fish dish and it didn't have the Peruvian flavor I was hoping for. I would recommend this place even though it didn't do it for me.

  • Christelle S.

Came here with a Groupon on a Saturday night. It was not too crowded but filled up as I was dining. One of my favorite parts was the bread with the green sauce. The bread was warm and the sauce was so good I had to ask the waiter what was in it, and had to get a round two! My boyfriend had fried tilapia, which the menu said was a traditional meal found on every street corner in Lima. His fish tasted incredibly fresh. I ordered chicken cooked in various flavors and spices. It came with fries, which interestingly came mixed in with my chicken instead of on the side. The restaurant is currently BYOB, and many patrons had bottles of wine with them while I was there. Good service as well - our waiter was attentive but not over bearing. I would recommend it if only for that bread and sauce! For more details and pictures check out: stellasout.com/savoring-…

Amazing Peruvian buffet! My favorite dish is the Lomo saltado. I really recommend it. The place is clean and elegant

  • Pilare K.

I am giving this restaurant 2 stars because from 12 dishes that were offered in the buffet only 5 were OK. The environment was nice and service was great. The dishes that have closer flavor to Peruvian food are: Tamales, ceviche, Causa de pollo con palta, pollo a la brasa, vegetarían raviolis w/spinach. I do not recommend the empanada, Lomo Saltado, cau cau, tallarín saltado, asado, aji de gallina, papa rellena.

The one star is for the poor waiter guy. I came here on a night out with my boyfriend and we started with two appetizers. One of them was the beef anticuchos. It was cold. It wasn't even warm it was cold and extra chewy. I put my first bite and I could not eat it. I'm wondering how long they let that food sit there before serving it to us, because it came out within minutes after we ordered. we let the waiter know and they apologized and offered to make a new one for us. So we went on to order main entrees and it took 40 minutes. Luckily we had some wine to go down our stomachs while we were waiting but it took almost an hour for our food to get here. We were never served bread while other tables got bread. I was very disappointed with the service and the food at this place. Never coming back here again. Oh and the food wasn't even that great. Steak was chewy and warm. Fries were cold and the remade beef anticuchos came out after we were done with whatever we could eat from our entrees.

I believe Ceviche has the same owner of Ay Ay Picante as the menu is the same. Love them both! I'm glad there's a closer location to me now. Great Peruvian food. Seafood ceviche is always fresh, amazing and the portions here are huge so come hungry. Service is top notch. Looking forward to coming back when I need my ceviche fix.

First, I had a Groupon so I liked that a lot more than at full price. It's BYOB...which is awesome and they are fantastic about getting you an ice bucket or whatever they can. The staff is VERY friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. Great atmosphere and completely made the experience...even people that aren't your waiter are all working the dining area together. The bread and their butter recipe is incredible...possibly the best bread I've ever had. The atmosphere is great, very intimate. The food was good, I was a bit blind to what all was on the menu but the raw fish I had tasted very fresh, was a large serving and had fantastic flavor. I am looking forward to going back!

Enjoyed Ceviche last night for the first time. My wife & I split a ceviche order and a steak-shrimp entree with a side of plantains and thoroughly enjoyed everything. The decor is simple, but warm -- nice place for a first (or 100th) date -- quiet with ambiance enhancing music in the background. This is a new restaurant, an expansion of another, smaller establishment. Easy to get to between Western Ave & the Kennedy Expressway, parking may be the worst part of the night and we had no problem. FWIW, the Elston Target is just south & they have a reasonable selection of wine if you forget to Bring Your Own Beverage. The menu is varied, a nice selection of both seafood, steak & chicken, with generous portions. My steak was a great piece of meat, well prepared and well seasoned, the shrimp was a good size and just as well grilled. The ceviche was elegantly prepared -- Donna's new favorite source for ceviche. With both plates, the food is a couple steps above what we expected, a nice surprise. It is not in your face "hot", but subtly spicy in the sense of many flavors combined for a wonderful taste. Service was good, helpful, eager to talk about the restaurant, when asked. They import a number of the components (corn, peppers) from Peru. Seating for 2/4 is comfortable and they have room for larger parties -- there was a table set for 20 for a group later on. We look forward to returning both by ourselves and with friends.

First time visit today for an early birthday lunch. Luis was our server and he was awesome! Had the mixed ceviche which was delicious and a huge portion! We also had a spicy beef entree. I will definitely be going back. The inside decor is a lot nicer than the exterior, which is not all that inviting. I will add that this place is a really great value.

Got a Groupon for this restaurant, quite close to my apartment. Didn't know what to expect, but I read some good reviews prior to purchasing my Groupon. Stopped in on a Saturday night, round 7pm without a reservation. It wasn't too busy, but enough people to make it cozy. Even with the indiscreet exterior, the inside transports you to a whole new country, Peru to be exact. The food was super delicious, we got an Empanada and an Avocado stuffed thingy for starters, both super good. For entrees, we got the Mixed Ceviche platter as well as a steak/fries dish. SO GOOD! Really...absolutely tasty. The service their is superb. Friendly, gave great recommendations and even brought out a complimentary ice cream sundae for dessert. Coupled with this place being BYOB. I'm a fan. Something about these family run restaurants make me happy. Love supporting these type of places. All in all, I will certainly return. Hope to see you there!

After coming back from Cancun, where you can order fresh seafood to your hearts content, I decided I would give this place a try. Unfortunately, the ceviche here was not nearly as good as some of the ceviche I had in downtown Cancun. I ordered the Arroz con Mariscos, and my girlfriend had the ceviche. The Arroz con Mariscos came out in less than five minutes which made me think it was microwaved (which will run you about $20), and the ceviche tasted a little old. I don't' think I will be coming back again anytime soon, especially since even the free ice water smelled.

Beautiful space, good food and warm, friendly service. I only spent a few days in Peru, but while I was there I binged on ceviche and was on the hunt for a temporary transport to Lima. My dining experience at Ceviche did the trick. While we didn't fall in love with everything we ordered--one of the salads (potato I think) was a bit too subtle in flavor for my dining companion--everything else was great. The service was EXCELLENT. Oh yeah, and it's BYOB. Win, win, win! I plan on going back soon.

The BYOB policy makes this place a very attractive spot. I came there with a groupon, which had offered a good deal for the place. The servers were attentive, but (perhaps) unexperienced. We were asked three times whether we wanted more bread, and three times we said yes, and one of the servers would disappear somewhere forgetting about us. We were lucky to have come on a night when they have live music, so the pleasant guitar tunes had masked any possible drawbacks in cuisine. We had various fish and seafood plates, and all tasted fresh and seemed to have been cooked to just the right point. One obvious flaw was their deserts. They brought a tray with all the selections, and later told us that two of our orders were not available. The rest of the deserts were not that good; I wouldn't recommend their napoleon or tres leeches. The server told me they have buffets, which I might consider trying.

We loved this place. We used a Groupon ($15 for $30). The atmosphere was romantic yet fun, and the service was fantastic. We had our food very quickly. We went on a Saturday night around 7pm, no wait but the tables were filling up. We had the lomo saltado, cebiche pescada, and a side of fried plantains. We will definitely be coming back.

The waiter was very nice. Food was OK, bit oily. I ordered the sautéed mushrooms with basil. The bread was warm, tasted good. The restaurant has a distinct smell of an old building.

Traditional Peruvian food and great service. Just go with whatever the waiter recommends! The only thing missing for me was the peruvian drinks, but they're apparently going to eventually get their liquor license and open up the bar area as a cocktail lounge.

Delicious food! I love everything about Peruvian food. We had a dish named Cau Cau of seafood and we also had Lomo Saltado. The restaurant is very intimate and dark, nice for a date or group of friends. Good service also. Very big and they have a second floor with additional tables over seeing the first floor

Service was horrendous we weren't asked for beverages to start out with he kept forgetting to bring out what we requested. The mixto ceviche was very bland, if you want tomatoe sauce with lime over their toppings than maybe you would enjoy it. Frankly that's all it tasted like. We also ordered the churasco and the pollo saltado it wasn't terrible but it wasn't flavorful either. Over all the service was incredibly bad and the food was something I'd eat again if I was starving

i read a lot of the reviews and thought this would be a cool place to be. however, i think i went to a different restaurant than the one other people reviewed. every website i went to said they accept reso's but that's not really true. they take your name and put you "on a list." first, every single server tried to take our order. some might like that but it appeared like no one knew who was assigned to our table and it was pretty disconcerting. and after they all found out someone had started our table they pretty much left us alone, including our server. we brought a bottle of wine and they opened it up. they then took the cork which may or may not be weird. it did get weird when we didn't finish the wine and they took the bottle so they could go find a cork in the back. where did they get the cork in a place that is only byob?? we started off with choclo con queso (absolutely no flavor,) cebiche de camarones (shrimp smothered in thousand island dressing,) and champiñones saltados (plain button mushrooms sautéed in olive oil, basil, red bell pepper and white wine.) okay flavor but could have been better with a tastier mushroom. for dinner i had the ribeye steak and a server talked me into medium. it came out rare so i sent it back only to have it come back out in less than 2 minutes (the wonders of a microwave.) my friend had the lomo saltado; lima style steak over homemade fries with rice. bleh. so the good parts were the coffee and the flan....which was given to us for "having to move tables." soooooo, we didn't move tables; that couple was two tables over. the flan was very good though! maybe we were just that one table and then again maybe not.

Went last night on a date. Everything was great. The ambiance and decor were a plus, the service was good, and everything we got was very tasty. I've had ceviche in Ecuador, which isn't known to be as good as in Peru, and thought the ceviche here was even better. We got a tamal, an empanada, ceviche mixto, and arrox con mariscos and shared it all and it was really good. Will be back.

This place is honestly amazing. I have nothing bad to say about it. The bread came out fresh with steam pouring off of it. The food was incredible. The service was on point. Everyone should know about this place.

The lunch buffet was delicious. You get to try a lot of different dishes. I liked them all but in particular the pollo a la brasa and the causa.

When my cousin, who works as an executive chef, comes to visit I also try to find a place that serves excellent food as he can be a bit critical. Through other yelp reviews, I decided on this place since it was fairly close to me and there was a groupon. I do not normally give 5 stars but the food and service definitely deserves this in my book. First great thing - BYOB. There is a liquor store a block east on diversey my group had popped into to grab some wine and beer. The staff was very nice and efficient. They seated us and promptly gave us ice buckets for our wine and beer. We didn't have a bottle opener for the beer but throughout meal they were very good at seeing our empty glass and asked if they could open another beer for us. The waiter was very nice and seemed very eager to help us with any questions that we might have on the menu. Which I did have a few questions as I have never had ceviche before but luckily, we had an executive chef in our group we let him take charge order few plates for us to share, family style. We were a group of 5 and he ordered about 4 plates from the "ceviche bar" section of the menu, which with beer/wine, the empanada appetizer and the bread they serve was enough for us. I wanted to try the empanadas as other reviews said they were great. Unlike ceviche, I have had empanadas my whole life and these were okay overall. The crust was very good but the filling was a bit bland. Maybe could have accompanied it was a sauce or something but it was missing a bit in the flavor department. As for the rest of the meal, I couldn't tell you exactly what we had (as I did not do the ordering) and I am no ceviche expert but it was all very good. The 4 plates we ordered were most of the "ceviche bar" options they had so in my mind you can't go wrong on that side of the menu. By the end of the meal everyone was pretty happy. The chef in our group was also very content and was more surprised I was able to find such a great place.

Absolutely delicious! Excellent service! The sudado de mariscos and pescado sudado are to die for! This location has historically not done well, BUT this place is awesome. There's live music on the weekends and good salsa is playing when there is not. Plus it's BYOB! If you live or work in Logan Square there is no excuse not to check this place out!

3-14-15 Saturday night, 7pm reservation, we had a group, we had arranged ahead that we would be there. We wound up sitting in the back room, that has a dance floor with music. They also had a live band upstairs, which could be heard all over the front of the restaurant, but there is no dance space up there. We were very happy, the food was reasonable prices and EXCELLENT. They must have a good chef right now, because the selections of seafood and meat are the highest quality. Decor simple, chairs comfortable it worked very well for us. From the simple decor, you don't really expect 5Star food, but it absolutely was. Service - ok, we were not a timely arrival group, our friends showed up in dribs and drabs, but the server managed well for 20 people with separate checks. I would suggest in future that that they go ahead and put glasses and ice water on the tables ahead, so we don't have to ask for i,and for a BYOB restaurant, make more wine openers available. We will likely come back here, because for our group, the space, the dancefloor, the freedom to just put the music on and dance before and after we ate, was perfect for us. I like consistency in a restaurant, I hope the food stays at this quality level. Everyone said their food was excellent.

Ceviche was great! First of all, the two story space and decor is quite cool and adds a bit romance. It's a perfect place for a large group or a romantic date. The cuisine and service is excellent. We had the Chaufa (good but not as good as D'Candela's. I really liked the strong ginger flavor, but my date did not) , traditional Peruvian fish with mushrooms, yucca, and the chicken salad stuffed potato. The yucca was the best we've ever tasted...really delicious! Everything was super fresh and tasty! The various sauces were super fantastic!! White we really enjoyed the choclo (hominy / large white corn), it definitely needs some sauce. The desert was subpar. It had m and m's on it....that's rather amateurish I thought. The area is a bit industrial and a little odd, but the food, service and decor definitely make it worth the trip.

I had the tilapia covered with mushrooms & artichokes; my girlfriend had chicken & shrimp skewers... we both liked the food a lot. The atmosphere and service is some of the best in Chicago. Definitely worth a visit. The fact that its BYOB makes it even better if you're budget conscious.

This place is very new, but it's owned by the same guys who own Ay Ay Picante. In fact, Ceviche uses their menus right now. Regardless, the food is excellent! I had a steak and shrimp combo and my wife had a shrip and salmon kabab that included a rice pilaf. The shrimp preparation and seasoning was fantastic. The steak was very well seasoned as well. It's BYOB right now. The food was great! The prices were very good. I would totally recommend this place.

We came in today (a Sunday) around 130pm. Service was ok. The waiter was nice and did refill the water when needed. We sat ourselves and the food was good except the beef anticuchos were undercooked. They were good but if you don't like them rare or medium rare, tell them how u like the meat cooked. I don't know why I thought they would actually cook the meat. We asked the waiter to have them cooked a little more. They did with no problem. The anticuchos alone filled me up. I had one Peruvian emapanda and the main entree which was the shrimp ceviche. The emapanada had beef egg and raisins. That was different. I normally make empanadas with meat and potatoes but every nationality has it's own way of making empanadas. I liked it but my husband did not. He had the pollo saltado (chicken) and he loved it. I expected more from the shrimp ceviche though. It was good but for $18 I would have expected more shrimp. It was also jumbo shrimp. It was served with puréed sweet potatoes. That was different too but still good. Except it was cold( I don't know if it's supposed to be that way). The food is good but I just wish service was a little faster. We felt like we waited a long time. The bathroom is really dark too. I think it needs more lighting.

Ceviche offers incredible food and genuine hospitality. Looking forward to becoming a regular! The Ceviche Mixto is outstanding; amazing flavor and fresh. The other plate we tried was Arroz Chaufa de Pollo and that was just as good. The menu is robust and features traditional fare, with something for every taste.

I noticed this place before it opened and was curious to try it. I'm currently sitting at the table writing this review. THIS. PLACE. IS. AWESOME. As I was starting to write the review out waiter, who's family owns the restaurant, brought my mom and I a complimentary dessert. So nice!! We had the steak with onion salad and it was delicious, as well as the empanada. I'll definitely be back and recommend my friends.

Horrible experience. Husband made reservations for me and our two kids. We were seated in a very cold area that we had to keep our coats on. The hostess didn't seem to care and said what do you want me to.do about it and walked away. Almost two hours later our meal didn't come and we left the restaurant hungry. The hostess again was very inconsiderate and didn't care. We will never come here again. Shame on you.
