Diabetics at Whataburger

High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. It was my second time at the joint. The first time around I was plastered so I watched hubby eat his gorgeous looking burrito while I was getting even more dizzy from their mosaic tables. The second time around I had a number 1, which is a junior burrito and so did my husband. We ordered guacamole and waited outside for the food. Top notch mexican restaurants don't have the same food this place has. Their guacamole is to die for. Rich+Creamy= Delicious in my book. Plus it was so fresh. I could only imagine the places the fat would relocate in my body and I dont even care. The burrito was great too and not very big (hence the name). It came with rice and beans I dont eat rice unless its wrapped around salmon but I had the beans and they were great. I am really impressed with the food and the looks of the place are very decieving. The joint is opened late. Best place to have a quick bite or just fix your cravings at 3 AM in my opinion.

They just moved to Kimball and Elston. Love the new digs! Food is awesome! Check them out.

I moved in to the neighborhood about two months ago. I live only 3 blocks away - and about 5 people told me I NEEDED to come here. Note of advice: don't let the outside appearance fool you. This shack is a gem. I got steak tacos and they were to die for. My boyfriend got a steak burrito and it was huge! It was about 20$ for two dinners - not unreasonable. Definitely a go-to.

I work next to the place so eat there alot. They make the food pretty fast and the prices are excellent. As a mexican im very picky on taste of tacos and such and I gotta say the food is really really good. Not the best ( nobody beats momma ) but very good.

  • Monette D.

I use to live just two blocks away from this joint. Let me tell you that even though I moved to Albany park I still travel to this place to buy their burrito. They make your burrito right in front of you so know it's fresh. Another I love is their tamarind juice, I always get large coz I just can't get enough of it. Prices are very reasonable it's not over prize. I do think that the rice most of the times is way too salty but it's still very good.

I made a Yelp! Account to write this review. This place is amazing, great late hours and amazing authentic Mexican food. Just get their steak nachos--seriously. They are the best nachos I have ever had, cheaply priced and layered with every type of topping you would ever want (Guacamole for no extra charge, take that Chipotle)! I once ate these nachos 19 times in a 22 day span. I wish I was joking. Get the nachos.

I stopped here on the way home from work (late) one night. Even at 9pm, there was still a pretty long line. It was the first time i stopped in, so I had high expectations after seeing that. This place didn't disappoint. My husband and i each had a burrito, and we shared horchata and nachos. The nachos were easily enough for the two of us to share for dinner. They were delicious and extra cheesy. The burritos were very tasty too. Because of the nachos, I ate maybe a quarter of the burrito, then took the rest to work the next day for lunch. My one and only complaint was that I thought the chicken in the burrito could be just a tad more seasoned. Other than that, everything was great.

I like the fact this is a local chain owned and operated by Mexican proprietors. Can't say that about most Mexican food chains. Like others have said, it's pretty run of the mill, but the prices are good and it's certainly better than most franchises. Sorry Chipotle, you don't count. We have a lot of privately owned taquerias to choose from in most Chicago neighborhoods, and even though Burrito House has multiple locations, they have good consistency. It's nice to watch the food being made to order, and I know at least at this spot in Irving Park, they are always working hard and are frequently busy with a line several customers deep at almost any time of day. I think their guacamole is pretty outstanding, love their chimichangas, and you can't go wrong with any of the tacos. I love that I live only a block away and that they're open late.

  • Nancy P.

Ordered a steak taco dinner and steak burrito dinner and a small guacamole. Food was bland and had zero taste. When I got home I realized they didn't put the guacamole in the bag, so I called. No one ever picked up. And it's not like they were busy, it was Valentines Day! Crappy customer service. Not coming back, bye.

Our favorite tacos in Chicago. We come here time and time again when we want tacos. A tiny bit pricey at $2.50 a taco, but more than worth it. Servers behind the counter are always nice, even during a rush. Open until 2am on weekdays, and 5am on weekends. Very laid back and comfortable environment, and usually pretty cleanly. The only downside is, no delivery.

  • Kevin H.

Lengua here is done proper, the meat is delicious, moist, tender, and a great sized portion, I have gotten it with onions, cilantro, avocado, and salsa verde for years and it is always incredibly satisfying, whether in burrito or taco form... the fact that they stay open on the weekends for the late night bar crowd should earn them a bonus star. Anyone who rates this place lower than 4 stars is insane.

  • Natan Y.

This place is your run of the mill Mexican joint. I went here with a few buddies after they helped me move. HOLY CRAP my burrito was so spicy I couldn't even eat it. I didn't even order it spicy or anything. I hate wasting food so I kept trying to eat it but, no dice. I don't know if that's normal for this place but if you go I'm pretty sure you will have to specify the level of spicy you want from a scale of white dude to Latino. Hahaha but the chips and gauc was good. Horchata was amazing. I might be willing to give this place another try it is right next to my house on Addison. however I will be exploring the rest of the Ave on dale area on a mission to find excellent Mexican food. On a scale of 1-10 you guys get a 6.

Disclaimer: As a relocated Texan, I'm accustomed to all manner of hole-in-the-wall Mexican. Tacos can come off of a truck, from a greasy spoon, or out of a convenience store window for all I care. In fact, I usually prefer them this way. Not so at Burrito House. Bummer. I had high hopes. I wish I could think of a less harsh equivalency, but the burrito I ordered actually tasted like dirty dish water. Had a pastor taco as well, just to try, and it was nearly burnt, certainly the worst I've had in the city. I work around the corner, I've heard good things, and the people here are super kind, so maybe I came on the worst possible day. Or maybe I'll just need to get extra faced before I try again.

I love this place! I've had tacos from all over the city, this is my favorite spot. Awesome horchata too.

  • Maria S.

Read all the reviews thought it was going to be a great place. Disgusting. Then i realized all the comments i read were white people (please no offense- just you really cant rate great mexican food). This was not at all good. Tried the steak fajitas -awful. The beans and rice are flavorless. I gave it two stars just for the horchata.

Omg their steak tacos are amazing! I absolutely love all their food. We always eat here for lunch at my job and they never disappoint us.

Went to this place after tennis one night, decided to only have one taco because i was stupid and thought that i wouldnt need/want more than one. WRONG first of all, it was really good, better than any places out by me in the burbs. second of all, when i was done i said "man that was so good, why didnt i get two?" didnt feel bad at all cause my friend said "man that was so good and im still hungry, why didnt i get the bigger burrito?" lesson learned. I will be back! ps. dont come here and get a freakin burger, gtfo. eat a taco/burrito/torta/anything but a burger.

The food is way better than the usual burrito joint, particularly their steak. The employees are friendly and it's cheap. Neighborhood gem.

  • Sharina R.

I've only had burritos here, and they taste amazing. If you order it as-is, it comes with hot sauce which is EXTREMELY hot. The 2nd time around I got it without, and liked it much better. The beans and rice are also very flavorful. The "king" burrito is super small to be considered king...I'd hate to see the normal size. I left feeling satisfied, but definitely not full. Just a side note, DO NOT park in Little Caesars parking lot or your car will be booted immediately. My boyfriend and I didn't know this, so when he went to move the car which was literally 45 seconds from walking in, the man was just about to boot it, luckily we caught him in time.

    (3)
  • Alex M.

Staff was very friendly but the food was below average, even for a cheap burrito. I got a chicken burrito with rice and beans and the chicken was fatty and dry. I would not go here again.

  • Ann M.

This is the BEST late night drunk Mexican food, EVER. This location is the closest to where I lived and some friends and I have been here a few times after late night bar hopping in the city. I've had everything from a burrito to fries to nachos to a burger here and everything is so good. AND it's CHEAP. It just doesn't get any better than that. You need to try it out because it's just that good.

  • Ed K.

Tried the carne Asada burrito. They looked at me all weird when I asked for the beans on the side. (I like to see and control the bean content of my burritos) All-in-all, it was a solid & tasty burrito. Will definitely order again. ...w my beans on the side

  • LINDA M.

Fantastic hot fresh food. If you don't like too spicy then ask to hold the hot sauce it is very spicy hot but some people like it. I love their French fries supreme it like nachos but with French fries it is amazing. Good tacos, all are good. Burritos love the California with shredded beef. They also have great cheeseburgers and fries too. Fast service, fresh made to order food. free parking behind building( don't think about parking in little Caesars parking lot they will boot your car) Outdoor seating is nice set off in a private area. Would be great if they had delivery but they get really busy sometimes

"Viiiiiiiiiiince!!!! Wooooooo!!!! F***in Vince man!" It was sometime between 2 and 3 in the morning when I heard my name as I was digging into my tacos al pastor, my mouth stuffed with the tasty marinated porky yummy stuff. One of my former coworkers had just walked in with a few friends of his. He was happy to see me. He looked pretty happy in general, like most people that walk into Burrito House after 2 in the morning. Heck, they were all happy to see me as they repeated my name over and over. I didn't even really know the other guys. I think I said something like "hey bmphhdee", not wanting to break my momentum. I come to inhale my meals at this place. Everything tastes so good. Their horchata, that cinnamon laced, rice beverage Mexican staple is done with justice here. It provides just enough relief if you've overindulged in the salsa verde. It's sweet without being sickening. I chomped on a few spicy chips from our community nacho plate. Additional food after my excellent tacos seemed, well, redundant. No matter. Like my random former coworker run-in, I'll always be happy to see the Burrito House again.

Friday night me and my friend go out for some food..............we were hungry and severely intoxicated! Oh lets not kid, We were hammered!!! Ooooo wow! So we headed to the Burrito house! Never lets us down! This place caters to drunks! After downing 9 tacos between us we were good to go! The salsas here are great! I like the red one personally. If your 3 sheets to the wind and hungry head here! Shake & Bake seal of approval!

  • Emily H.

With a huge horchata in one hand and a taco dinner in the other, I always leave this place feeling like a conquering hero. The outside looks like a basic Mexican food dive joint, but inside that modest structures, they work mouth miracles. I've eaten my way up and down the menu, and haven't found a carne that wasn't muy bueno, no queso has disappointed, and I hear avocados line up at night to become their guacamole. The PROs: Great food, massive horchata supply, friendly staff, fast prep, coma-inducing tastiness. The CONs: Open late, can have its share of drunk dudes hunting tacos of all types. So seriously, if you want Mexican food that is fast, fresh, cheap, and made with high quality ingredients, go to Burrito House. If you don't care about those things, or are too drunk to care, then continue going to whatever crapfest you've been going to for Mexican food, and miss out BIG TIME. Fewer people waiting in line works out for me!

Looks like I must revive my previous 5 star review. Picked up my every-chance-i-get fish tacos Jan 15 and counter guy recalled my last visit in June, when I treated my building energy audit team. My wife and I enjoy these tacos, barely on menu, and, though INEXPENSIVE, they are a finely honed offering. I´m disappointed that Burrito House was not listed in Jan 23 ¨best fish taco¨ piece!

I live a few blocks away. I've walked over a couple times to try a few different dishes. They do have a handful of vegetarian options, but they are mediocre at best. Service was friendly and fast, but little effort was put into the food. This may be best to serve as a late night meal when drunk.

Man the guys at burrito house are super cool. They remember all their customers. I recommend this place for a late night eating spot and lunch. Cost effective. Sometimes it leaves you an after taste but I will say the food is great. Nothing fancy but it does it's job. The meat is quality meat not like tbk. Good service and it always has something going on to entertain you

Solid, solid, solid 4 stars. Great burrito, but carne asada was so freaking hot it almost burned my damn mouth! When it got cooled down a bit, I was able to destroy them suckers and of course I dousing it with green and red salsa. Enough heat and taste to get you addicted. And what do you know? This place is pretty close to another Navy Recruiting Station! Next time I visit, I would probably try tortas as it looks freaking delicious. Funny thing. I saw this asian lady speaking fluent spanish talking to one of the cooks. I thought that was funny.

Great Mexican take out here. All of the people who work here are nice, and make your food with care. Everything is fresh, and fast. Made to order. Prices are always very reasonable. Cheaper than Chipotle, and much tastier. Everything I have ever had on the menu is WONDERFUL. I personally enjoy the Steak Burrito or Tacos. Both are very tasty. King Sized Burrito for less than 6$ is totally worth it. It's HUGE, enough for 2 people to eat, or 1 person to completely stuff themselves with ;) Horchata is great. They never skimp on the Avocado, always a plus. They make their guacamole fresh, so none of that pre made BS. This place is always open when I need it. Go here, you will not be disappointed.

The Burrito House is great for a quick fix of delicious Mexican food. The food is nothing extremely unique but the execution is superb. The best dishes are marked as "al pastor" (translates to "Shepherd's Style") which feature spiced pork. The tacos, burritos, and nachos are well constructed. Wash down your spicy tacos al pastor with a sweet and perfumed horchata. The service is prompt and friendly and The Burrito House clearly takes care of their employees, considering that I always see the same faces, year after year. Most downsides, including drink re-fill charges and at-times dirty dining areas, are compensated by The Burrito House's consistently achieving it's goal: To deliver cheap, convenient, and delicious Mexican food.

What can I say, everything here is so flavorful. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu except their guacamole (es no bueno). You can order it to go or stay and eat your food there. Whats great is that they're open almost 24hrs a day, so that makes it the perfect place to go for those drunken nights. I especially recommend getting their steak fajita burrito or steak tacos (w/ onions, cilantro, and green sauce).

  • Aaron Jae M.

It is what it is. And that is the best late night mexican food around. Fast, greasy, and cheap, just the way I like it. Reasonably priced and delicious, perfect food after a long night of partying and/or drinking. My friends and I go here all the time and we love it, would definitely recommend it to a friend looking for a quick bite in the neighborhood.

  • Michael J.

Good food, inexpensive and friendly guys working the counter. And no language-barrier if you don't speak Spanish. Be careful where you park. I almost made the mistake of parking in the Little Caesars lot immediately to the east. The lot for this place is behind the restaurant next to the alley.

  • Laura B.

There's pretty much no reason to go anywhere else. It's cheap and it's THE BEST! Best quesadillas I've ever had, really good cheap tacos, very yummy al pastor pork. Even the tacos are good- they use corn tortillas for the tacos, which I can't stand but I eat them anyway. The chicken is really good too!

  • Keith A.

This is exactly what fast mexican food is about. I was hungry and in need of nourishment, so my friend and I walked over to here from his place to cure our hunger pangs. Its a small place, but its not cramped. The prices are great as I was able to get two tacos for a bit under $2 each. They weren't massive, but there was more then enough in them for what I paid for. The chorizo taco was good, but the chicken taco was jam packed with a bunch of grilled chicken and was definitely the better taco. I also got a side order of rice which was pretty good as well and a regular drink all for $7 even. Is it the greatest mexican food out there, no, but it is good and it was real quick as well. There's no skimping on the meat and one can easily spend more for less if they want, personally I'd rather just hit this up when I get the chance and know that I'm gonna get some mexican food that is exactly what I'm looking for

Shhh... shhh... don't tell... Yes, We smuggled the beagle in. I think they let us get away with it- Via Boyfriend, who speaks fluent Spanish, I let the manager know he forgot his keys... In the ATM by the front window... No. Stop it. Are you kidding? I'm not going to rob a restaurant! If my Dad found out, they would never even find what used to be my body... I have my conscience to thank! I am an honest citizen who scored a free Horchata! I love Horchata! It's cool and creamy and refreshing! So worth a visit! And the stealth Baby-Beagle-assisted food pick-up! You can get decent guacamole here when you don't have the gumption to get up off your butt and make your own. And you won't die a horrifically painful mutant death by risking your precious young life at White Castle across the street.

A little take me back to Baja is what you'll get at Burrito house. Flat out tasty mexican diner fare anyday, anytime food. I enjoyed the outdoor seating, friendly service, and unique mexican music playing in the background. The restaurant was very clean, homestyle mexican with all of the standards. I was feeling like a sandwich so I ordered a steak torta. Very tasty with that charred steak taste from the flatiron and creamy cheese and sour cream combo I was craving. An added bonus was the free parking lot. Just what I was hoping for while waiting for the nearby Brew supply store to open on Sunday. Stop here for a quick bite in the neighborhood.

This place is so good. There are so many great Mexican restaurants to say that one really stands out more than the other, but this place is absolutely great. The burrito junior is large enough for one person, but the nacho's with cheese and beans are soooo great.

I've eaten here several times a month for the last year and a half, and love it every time. They make authentic Mexican food at an affordable price. The employees are always real helpful and kind. I even moved away from Avondale to Logan Sq, but continue to frequent this establishment (usually for carry-out). The green salsa is great, the guacamole is inexpensive if you get it without chips, and their chicken nachos are delicious! Also I like their beef and bean casadillas and chicken casadillas.

"Welcome to the House" This is a cool little quick-stop on the way home. There is always some type of special - cheap tacos. They advertise the special in huge red letters that catch your eye as you are considering the White Castle across the street at 3 a.m. on a Friday after a night of drinking. Dine-in a faux-Mexican cantina or take the awesome food home with you. You will not be disappointed. Today was arroz con camerones. This is a bed of perfectly spiced rice covered with 10 bigass shrimps. Throw in a side of frijoles and some guacamole and salad - along with some steamed corn tortllas. BAM! You have a meal fit for el rey. They have horchata as well a jugo de jamaica. You serve yourself the drink which is always cool because no counter person in the world understands "easy ice". If there is any downside to the experience it would be that you have to pay 60 cents for a re-fill. SO be careful with the hot sauce... See ya' there...

Decent food for a decent price, there are better Taco joints out there....but this is a convenient location for the city and they are open pretty late...

I live not to far from here and I go by the place all the time. I finally stepped inside to check it out. I have only tried the chicken tacos, but they where the best chicken tacos I have ever had in my entire life! I can't wait to try more! Half of the menu is in spanish, but if you go to the website, it's all translated. It's basically choosing what type of dish you want (tacos, burritos, nachos, tortas, etc) and then choosing what type of meat you would like. There are like 8 different types of meat. They even offer veggie options. Cheap, fast, and delicious! What more could you want? The only thing I could really complain about is that you have to pay for refills, so if you are like me and really like your fluids, go for the 32oz drink. It's only $1.65 and then $0.60 to refill.

Picked up a steak burrito on my way out of town yesterday, and really, it was okay. Big, especially for the price, authentic-looking, with lots of filling. It was a little heavy on the beans, though, which took over the taste of the steak, which wasn't as tender as a lot of steak burritos' steak that I've had. So, on a small sampling, it was okay, even pretty good, but not the best burrito I've had in town, not by a longshot.

Been going here for years. The people are attentive, nice and the food is fresh and tasty. My favorite mexican restaurant in Chicago because of the convenient location and also quick, clean service.

Best pork tacos in the city! Get them 'Mexican style' with cilantro and onion only. Very friendly staff. Have been a long time customer.

Been going here since it opened years back. Back then there food was super greasy. Great food to eat after a night of hardcore binge drinking. Nowadays there food hasn't been as greasy but some menu items are better than some. The chimichangas are the best but not the al pastor. It just tastes weird. The steak is pretty good here and not dried. The same w/ the chicken. If your going to get Horchata then make sure you taste some first because its pretty sweet most of the time. You can't go wrong with the steak quesadillas as well. All in all it's a pretty decent place and they're open late as hell.

I had been craving Mexican food for awhile and my boyfriend said we should go to this place. I'll admit I was a little leary. But after eating there I will definitely be back. Mexican tiled table tops, a little patio for nice weather, open night owl hours. Definitely sweet. The guys behind the counter are probably some of the nicest guys I've ever come across in food service. Friendly, joking and I live the fact that the guy who took our order kept saying "my friend". As in "What would you like my friend?". Cute. The boy ordered steak nachos and I got the steak fajita dinner, 2 drinks and an order of cheese fries for the hell of it and the total was just over $20! Then we got our food. I figured for what we paid the plates would be skimpy but as the cook gave us our food I kept laughing because there was just so much of it. Now was it the best Mexican food I've ever had? No. But it was better then a lot I've had. * by all means get the large drink * the tacos are pretty cheap so if you want to try something new that's your best bet- since you wont be out a lot if you decide you don't like it.

I have to say, I was surprised at how good my food was. I had a chicken burrito and an horchata. I thought both were very good. I could only eat half of my burrito, but even going back to it later, it was still good out the microwave. It is a small place, easy to miss, so keep an eye out for it. Their parking is right behind their restaurant, when entering from the alley. It separates theirs from Little Caesars. For a nice day, there is a patio outside, and they have a few tables inside. Not that big of a place. The food is pretty cheap. The guys that work there are very nice and funny. The guy that gave me my food kept making me speak in Spanish, just for fun haha. But they were good guys. I will definitely be going back there. Best part is, they are open really late, so if you ever have a craving for Mexican food late at night.....try this place :)

Mmmmm.... burritos! First of all let me just say that I just ate here and loved the steak tacos. I also love the fact that you can eat outside if you choose to. However, the parking lot is, well, in the alley, and you have to park next to, or near the big nasty smelly garbage dumpster. Walking past this nasty garbage smell is one thing, but there was some liquid running out of the dumpster into the alley where you have to walk to get to this place. I had to literally hop, skip, and jump to get past it. I'm no snob by any means, and will walk through some pretty nasty sh*t to get to good food, but this kind of turned my stomach. They are open until 5AM and I will keep that in mind for future late night outings. The place is small, and typical for one of these late night joints that we've all frequented.

There are a lot of 24 hour Mexican Restaurants in Chicago and Burrito House is one of the better ones. Great tacos, burritos, and combination plates all at a very reasonable price.

Best Steak Chimmichanga I've had in Chicago!!! My wife used to make fun of me for ordering them and now that's all she orders. Gotta have the Guac on the side with it. And the complementary homemade tomatillo sauce is amazing! Put it on everything. Everything else is great too, taco's, quesodillas, chicken, steak, arrachera, ect. Did i mention the guacamole?? Great! Everything is homemade and fresh. Oh yeah and the price for what you get is a great value. Eat It!!!

"What do you wanna eat?" "I dunno. What do YOU wanna eat?" Burrito House is me and the boyf's default place to go to when we're hungry but too tired to actually THINK about what we want. It's our "no-brainer" dinner! It's right down the street and open late night. We can always count on a yummy, satisfying and cheap meal from Burrito House! Burrito joints are NOT all alike. I think this one is special because alot of what they serve is homemade. Mr Man always gets the mini chimichangas, but I have ordered a few different things. I think the fish tacos are super tasty, and they came highly recommended from the guys who work there. If you like tamarind, the tamarind agua fresca is fresh made every day! I like the salsa there too, both the green and the red. The interior is nothing fancy, but I do like the tiled tables, which make it feel a bit nicer than your average burrito place. They also have tables outside. The guys who work there are also super nice! Muy amable! Maybe they are just humoring me, as I see a trip to the Burrito House as an opportunity to practice my Espanol. At any rate, I appreciate their smiling faces and being called "amiga" whenever I go there. :)

Typical burrito joint that's open late and has cheap food. It just so happens that I LOVE this place. The lengua tacos are very tasty with just cilantro, onion and avocado with a bit of tomatillo salsa. I usually get horchata and an order of guac and chips with my orders. The burritos are pretty big, but I'm able to polish one off myself if I'm really hungry :)

Great Mexican food, quick service and great low prices. This place stays open late but for locals who like getting their Mexi-food groove on watch out for the loud and drunk Wrigley-ville bros and trixies that drop by because they can get loud and obnoxious sometimes. Otherwise, the place is great offers tasty Mexican fare that is easy on the pocket.

I love love love love this taco spot. The tacos are the bomb diggity. They are loaded with fresh cream, shredded cheese, lettuce and tomatos. For 1.90 a taco you can't go wrong. 2 of them steak tacos and I am full. Their loaded steak nachos are the best as well. The salsas are the best around. They are open until 5am on the weekends and 2am during the week.

It was my first night in Chicago. And after a fun-filled night in Wrigleyville - Chicago's home of the Cubs, baseball, bars, clubs, people watching and bar-stumbling - we were hungry. I was told by my Uncle (who lives in South Loop) that there was this place called the Burrito House. AKA. the perfect after-drinking, late-night food spot. I didn't need a lot of prodding to go eat , so I said "Take me to this House of Burrito's!" To say I was hungry is an understatement. Mind you that I JUST drove in to Chicago from MPLS (6 hrs) AND we went out to Wrigleyville until the wee hours of the morning. So I was not only coming off my buzz, I was tired AND hungry. I went ahead and ordered the King Size Steak burrito (around $6). Added an horchata drink. And *blam! Authentico! Or rather, it was all bueno. The burrito wrap was prepared crispy. Like it was toasted. Grilled, rather. Never had a burrito prepared like that before. Added some hot sauce. Because you know, no burrito is complete without the hot sauce. So be sure to add the hot sauce! Drink it down with the horchata. Man,oh man! Hit.The.Spot. It was how I always remembered it. Or how I misremembered it. Surprisingly, the food was good. It was tasty. And it was all devoured. Yup, all good. I would have probably given this place 5 stars, too but to have this restaurant rated on the same level as a high-end restaurant...it doesn't make sense to me. Plus, I was buzzin. So it skews the authentico experience. At any rate, here is to a 3(!) star experience!!! Overall, I would hit up the Burrito House again. The place was good. The food - Cheap and tasty. Open late night. Its the ticket after a night of drinking. What more could you ask for?

what a surprise. I gotta tell you, the outside vibe of this spot says to maybe try another spot, but once I was asked what I wanted, 3 minutes of standing at the counter, kind of lame, it went uphill from there. Pollo Burrito was top notch, I got a couple steak tacos... eh, ok.

I had seen this place here for years but never had bothered coming here till last week. WOW! I was impressed. The tacos were delicious the tortillas and meat so fresh. The tacos were pretty packed. I brought my daughter tacos from here also and she loved them. Compared to other local taco/mexican restaurants in the area they are great. My usual spots for Mexican have disappointed me lately with the food being very salty and not as fresh as this place. So as long as they keep the quality of the food the same, fresh and tasty I will continue coming here for our mexican fix/cravings. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Recently moved here from California where we have great burritos, so I was glad to randomly find this spot on my way home from a friends place. It's definitely a hole in the wall but they use good ingredients and their salsa and chips are the real deal. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because as I was walking out to my car I slipped on ice and landed on my ass...burrito went flying up in the air. Luckily nothing was ruined but c'mon guys - throw down some salt back there...

Tacos are good. Sometimes, good portion of meat and sometimes, not. A bit expensive for plain tacos but worth it on those days the cook provide generous amount.

Please take this review seriously. Please. I never feel safe here. It is true - you will never see me here sober (unless I received the anonymous phone call I have been waiting for my entire life that would inform me that Jennifer Connelly was eating there) - so that might be one of the reasons my secureness is weakened but just the perceived moral fortitude of all the other typical diners here is enough to put anyone on edge. However, as they are open until 5am and what they give you is warm, it really is hard to pass up this burrito joint if you're in the area... Also, the staff is pretty cool - as my buddies and I were essentially late night regulars, they affectionately referred to most of us as "barracho." And I guess I am exaggerating - the burritos aren't half bad. They add this special runny, zesty cream-based sauce that really does add some character. They also include what I can only assume are bit of tortilla shell that give it a bit of a crunchy texture. However, what Americanized burrito shop doesn't have cheese fries these days? Burrito House certainly delivers on that - slather those babies in ketchup and "Baby, you got a stew going." So, if you're in the area (although there are only like two local bars in that area, one I can't think of and the other is Christina's Place) and you're desperately in need of a quick, decent burrito, and you are wasted - check it out.

I feel sorry for people that think that this is authentic mexican food. The cooks should have their mexican cards revoked for cooking and serving this food and calling it "Mexican". I ordered a taco meal. The meat looked weird and tasted weird, the toppings strange. Authentic carne asada tacos are made and served with cilantro and raw onions and the meat should be arrachera, anything else is added on. This was not. The chips are not homemade. No self respecting mexican joint will serve you chips that came from a bag with cheese sauce out of a jar. Guac was gross. Come on, even Chipotle makes their own chips and guac!! $10 bucks for a disgusting plate of slop? No thank you, I will continue to drive the extra blocks to Traspasada on California and Elston. I would rather get dizzy driving around looking for a parking spot at Traspasada than ever step foot at Burrito House again. No comparison.

I was at Burrito House last fall on a trip to Chicago. Prior to staggering to the Burrito House, I almost got into a fight with Batman at a nearby bar (it was the Saturday before Halloween). Batman was a dick. The only thing that saved Batman from an Eastern Montana beatdown was that I was out drinking with my dad. I'm not getting in a bar fight with my dad around. Sheesh. What is it about some of you guys from metro areas, you think you can say anything to a complete stranger? Batman would get his ass kicked every night in my hometown. Just sayin' Anyway, I digress. The food at Burrito House was cheap and good. I was drunk, so I could be wrong. I'd weigh about 50 LBs more than I do if there was a Burrito House in my neighborhood.

I frequent this place for lunch since it's located very close to my work. The place is small but they do have an outdoor eating area. Parking is limited as there is only a small lot and street parking available. They are quick in preparing orders, and all the meat options I've tried have been very tasty and not at all greasy or overcharred. Sometimes they offer fish tacos which are also delicious, if you see them offered give them a try! Great place for a quick bite or a late night meal, very reasonably priced and great service!

These guys make the best chicken tacos I've had for just a couple bucks. The seasoning is cooked right into the meat. The salsa verde is excellent as well. My boyfriend literally eats it by the spoonful. We always end up going really late after a session at Chief O'Neils. I've enjoyed a meal here a dozen times and the only complaint I have is that the Chile Rellanos I got was obviously pre-made so it wasn't as crispy as it should have been and the inside was cold. It was still good regardless.

I'd just like to say that Burrito House is pretty much the reason I moved to Chicago. Wonderful, delicious, cheap steak nachos; beautiful cheesy, seasoned, and huge steak tacos; generous portions of rice and beans...Burrito House has stolen my heart. Oh, but my husband says their burritos are too greasy...maybe they should change their name to "Order-Something-Besides-a-Burrito House."

i live just down the street from Burrito House and last week, my roommate and i were there at least twice. the food is consistently good. they make one of the best tortas i've ever had and modestly speaking, of course, i consider myself to be a torta connoisseur. the cooks put a bit of spicy kick in it and it just makes it lip-smackingly delicious. be prepared to smack your lips when you eat here. oh, and they're open really late which is perfect for those sleepless nights where only a burrito can put you to bed or if you're trashed out of your mind and had too much to drink at the office party.

  • Tina B.

Their quesadillas aren't the big flappy, floppy ones made with burrito tortillas and pizza sliced, but are instead tiny, like wee soft tacos with a bunch of melted cheese and chicken inside. If I had known, I would have gotten like three. Pretty tasty. The horchata is good, too.

The less jam packed cousin of Burrito House on Lincoln and Addision, this Burrito House has all of the same menu as the other location without the congestion of Wrigleyville Yupsters. Summertimes are great as you can eat outside. Beware: once the block moves past closing time, this place will fill up with drunk people quickly!!!!

Man, I just love this place. The food is really damn good, from tortas to tacos to burritos. Love it all. Parking there generally sucks, and there isn't a lot of room to sit, but damn, you're not here for the parking and seats, you're here for the sweet, sweet beef. huhuhuh.

After a night of dancing and open bar drinks, 12 of us made our way over to Burrito House... starving! The place is quite small, but a typical taqueria. The hubby and I ordered chips & guacamole, and 4 carne asada tacos. Pretty standard order. Oh, and a very large Sprite to knock out the taste of patron and vodka. :) The chips and guacamole were below average for sure. The chips were thick, not salty enough, and quite dry. The guacamole was definitely underseasoned and way too creamy for me! It was more like a bland avocado cream. We were so hungry, we started eating it anyhow. Our 4 steak tacos were up next. I will say that the steak itself was very good! Good sized pieces, perfectly seasoned and lots of it in the taco. The usual condiments were fine, but unfortunately the tortillas were kind of dry and stale almost. Good thing there was lots of steak inside! Overall though, for 3am in the morning, after a night out, what's better than a taqueria? It did the job.

I frequently visit the burrito house on Addison and Lincoln which is delicious, but this place is not comparable. I went there one night on the way home from the bar and the food took forever. On top of that the service was terrible, the food we got was not what we ordered and it was gross. I would suggest going up the road to the other Burrito House instead. This one is gross.

I moved to the area in 2004 and stumbled upon this place. Since, I go back every time I want Mexican food no matter what time it is. Their food is great, fast and the staff has always been friendly with me. I will not change this for any other place.

I lived up on Montrose home of the taco. I went up and down Montrose to find the best mexican, seriously every place smelled septic, like the toilet recently overflowed and the clean up was left to evaporation. I would only eat at Burrito House on Addison. I wanted to have my wedding reception here, but my fella said "NO circus wedding". The avocado taco & nachos are real nice. PS the one on Lincoln though, still good, but expect da da da diarreha.

Definetly not the best fast food mexican around....altho fairly cheap, but not the best. This place has no trash cans...do i just leave my garbage on the fricking table? i'm not a slob, so i feel obligated to thro my trash away....anyways my burrito was not properly rolled...because midway thru my carnivourous meal, the fucking thing fell apart like a blossoming flower.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
