Blue Plate was unbelievable for our 4/24 wedding at the Newberry Library. Melissa Samek and Haley had incredible attention to detail. Every guest is still talking about our wedding and how amazing the food was. As a graduate from culinary school, I had very high expectations, all of which Blue Plate met with ease. They assigned one person to us all night (Candy) and responded to every special request we made. Due to a tragedy late in the evening of our wedding, Blue Plate went above and beyond to provide food four days later for the funeral service for my mother in south side of Chicago. This was ABOVE and BEYOND the amazing service they provided and we couldn't be more grateful for everything they did to make our wedding day amazing. Thank you Melissa and Haley!

I love Blue Plates appetizers and desserts most of all, but they are also a consistently good catering company. They have a wide range of service - they can do delivery/drop off service, weddings, meeting planning, and massive conventions and galas. I personally only use them for very small things, but I have been to some of their large events, and this is where they really blow you away - their cutting edge trends are amazing.

My husband (fiancé at the time) and I did 3 tastings with local Chicago caterers before choosing one for our September wedding at the Chicago History Museum, and Blue Plate's was by far the most comprehensive and on target with what we were looking for. The staff had lots of great suggestions to make the diverse palates of everyone at our wedding happy, and the food turned out delicious! (Plus, we had a dedicated server to make sure we were able to eat it!!) Throughout the planning process, Laura and her team were responsive and patient with our changing vision for the meal and decor, and we couldn't have been more amazed with the result. They even made wonderful caramel apple favors (rolled in fun coatings... Oreos, pistachios, caramel corn, or Snickers!) for our guests to take home. I am definitely detail-obsessed, and on the day of our wedding Blue Plate had everything covered- we didn't worry about a thing! Thanks to Laura, and her fabulous team, for helping us to realize the wedding we imagined!

Let me start by saying that I planned my wedding in a very short period of time by most standards. I had been struggling with the "preferred" caterer that my venue recommended. Finally, with only a week to go, I decided I had to find a different caterer. I remembered speaking to Rachel at Blue Plate when I was at the beginning stages of planning, before I was persuaded to go with the venue's recommendation. In a state of panic, I dialed the number and THANK GOD, Rachel answered the phone and my prayers. I explained the entire situation from beginning to end and then held my breath, waiting for her to say that it was too last minute. Instead, she was so understanding and sweet. She immediately calmed me down and put me at ease. I instantly knew that no other caterer would do. I HAD to use Blue Plate. So even though, I was on a very strict budget and we only had ONE WEEK and I was a nervous wreck, Rachel said that it would be no problem for her to help me. I explained the wedding theme and a general idea of what I wanted. Within an hour of getting off the phone, she had emailed me some ideas and a sample menu-and it was exactly what I wanted! She totally "got it". Rachel took all of the stress of last minute planning off my shoulders and I had so much confidence in her that I barely even thought about it after our first few emails. She was very respectful of my budget and made sure to stay below the amount I told her-there were no surprises or added on charges at all. The menu was ideal-she made sure there were plenty of fun options and kept in mind my vegan/vegetarian guests too. On the day of my wedding, Rachel and her staff got there early and were organized and efficient. She was very involved and supportive. I felt like she would have done anything to make sure my day was perfect. The set up was lovely and everything was exactly what I hoped for. The bartender was perfect-very professional but also very friendly. The waiter, Nicholas, was delightful! He was a ray of sunshine-so attentive to every guest and fun be around. He was our only waiter but he was everywhere at all times and he made sure my husband and I got to eat everything and he made sure every guest was taken care of. All of my friends LOVED him and it really felt like he enjoyed being there, which I think is so important. He really made me feel special, too. And the chef did an amazing job! The food was devoured! It looked amazing and tasted even better. Everyone raved about the food all night long. It was better than I could have even expected. Everyone went above and beyond and I could not be more pleased with the end result. It's been over a week and my friends are still talking about everything. I absolutely cannot recommend Blue Pate strongly enough. They will always be the first place I call for any future catering needs.

We had our Civil Union reception on June 22nd at the Chicago History Museum. My partner and I are both big time foodies, and we were very picky about the food we would serve to our guests. We've both been to weddings where we've left hungry, and didn't want our guests to have the same experience. I can say without hesitation that Blue Plate surpassed every expectation. From our initial emails discussing a concept, to our fabulous tasting (we hired them on the spot!) to the reception, everything was beyond our expectations. The amount of compliments our guests gave the food is incredible! People were blown away. So many people said they've never had wedding food like this. That is something very special to hear when you're worried about pleasing your guests. And Blue Plate easily accommodated any food allergy or aversion we had to think about. The staff is exceedingly professional and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and taken care of. Everyone on the staff was so kind and eager to take care of us and our guests. A special note about our sales rep, Elinor. She was remarkable! I can't say enough how great she was to work with and how easy she made everything. She thought of details we never would have considered and answered most of our questions before we could even come up with them. Thanks to her, there were so many special touches that made the evening all the more special. She really takes her job seriously, but at the same time is so relaxed and a pleasure to work with. Thank you so much, Elinor! OK, now the most important part: the food! We chose a variety of appetizers. The Panini lollipops were so delicious and a favorite of many of our guests, including ourselves! I would also highly recommend the mac & cheese cups and mini Thai crab cakes - both huge crowd pleasers. The goat cheese grape was so simple yet so perfectly refreshing for a summer reception and paired perfectly with a glass of wine! The quality ingredients are immediately obvious when you taste the food! Our salad was the organic butter lettuce with goat cheese, almonds and fig vinaigrette. We didn't even initially choose to taste this, but Elinor gave it to us as a suggestion, and she was right. It was amazing. The ingredients were so fresh and delicious. I would love to serve this salad at a dinner party! Our guests had the choice of seared flat-iron steak or herb marinated chicken breast. Both were served with parmesan pomme-puree and accompanied by asparagus and patty pan squash. I can't tell you how good this was...the food stands up to any upscale bistro in Chicago, it was that good! The chefs at Blue Plate execute their food on par with any chef on the restaurant scene, and they do it on site without a kitchen! We were amazed. Again, the compliments our guests gave were so beyond our expectations, but the food deserved every compliment it received. Also, the portion size was so generous for the price we paid, and I can easily say no one went home hungry! So if you're looking to hire a caterer for any occasion, do not hesitate to consider Blue Plate. I've read a few reviews talking about the prices at Blue Plate being a little higher, but I've learned in life you get what you pay for. If I have another event I need to have catered, I will not even consider another catering company over Blue Plate. To all Elinor and all the staff at Blue Plate, thank you so much for making our event so special and beautiful and exceeding all of our expectations!!!

I recently worked with Blue Plate for a private event for my association at the Willis Tower, and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the end result. I start by saying that because initially I was a bit put off by the fact that I had to "create" my own menu. Don't get me wrong - I would normally jump at the chance to do that and would love doing it, but knowing how particular my boss and the association are about quality and standard of food for events, I was nervous about this. Not to mention that I am a vegetarian and the VIPs at my association are hard-core meat eaters. Our theme was "Taste of Chicago" (no, not the chaos that ensues every July in the city), but some the most well-known neighborhoods such as Greektown, Pilsen, Little Italy, and Chinatown. The rep I was working with was extremely nice, but I felt like it was an uphill battle getting a proper menu started with her. I found out later that they were in the process of changing their system, and that's why she would substitute items I requested as place holders so that it could still be included in the final cost since I was also budget conscious. All I have to say is the end result was amazing! The space they decorated looked beautiful, all the guests raved about the food, and the staff was amazing - very professional and polite. I will definitely recommend them for future events.

Blue Plate were the exclusive caterers for our wedding venue, but we couldn't have made a better choice if we'd gotten to try out every single caterer in the Chicago area. They were an incredible pleasure to work with and the food was fantastic. No . . . . really . . . it was fantastic! We realized how lucky we'd gotten was when we came to the tasting with my parents, and got served a meal that ranks with many of the best restaurants we enjoy in New York. It didn't look or taste like wedding food, and it blew our minds. And it wasn't like there was some switcharoo at the wedding. The guests -- including our pickiest foody friends -- loved the food and continued to rave about it afterward. We also felt incredibly well and thoughtfully taken care of throughout the wedding, and we knew that our guests were too. In short, you can't make a better choice than Blue Plate for your wedding.

My wife and I chose Blue Plate (BP) catering for our wedding, and it's hard to say enough good things about them. In short, the planning process, food, and service were all excellent. I'm going into a rant here, so if you take nothing else away from this review, know that BP is a great caterer and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. PLANNING - Planning our reception with BP could not have been any better. We were fortunate enough to work with Laura, who was a saint throughout the entire process. We did a great tasting, and BP was nice enough to set the presentation up as close to what we were having at our wedding as possible (plating, linens, etc.), and even gave us champagne for a toast. Throughout planning, we maintained a running dialogue around our choices and vision for the reception. BP never pushed anything on us, and there was no pushiness on their part about using more of their services. LAURA - Just before the wedding, when we were in full-blown planning craziness, we (my wife) had a bit of a meltdown around our linens, and made arrangements to come into the BP office and look at samples. Laura was completely accommodating and gracious, but in the end we were completely stuck between two very comparable options. Laura knew just what to say to us to calm us (my wife) down, and in the end we made a great choice, thanks to Laura. On the evening of the wedding, we had lost a box with a couple corsages, and the last we knew we had handed them to the caterers along with a couple boxes of desserts. Well, we (I) had a bit of a freakout, and again Laura knew exactly what to say to us (me). In the end, of course, we had misplaced them ourselves. We had created a homemade cupcake stand for our desserts, and showed up at the ceremony with it and around three times more than would fit on the stand. Once again, Laura came in just took care of it. I could go on, but I couldn't say enough good things about Laura. She is fun to work with, completely gracious, and demonstrates admirable calmness under fire. Laura saved our reception and our sanities on more than one occasion. THE FOOD - The food itself was delicious. We had veg. and gluten-free guests, and had no problem incorporating options for them into the mix. Here is a sample of our personal choices (everything was as good as it sounds): Apps: Bacon Wrapped Dates, BBQ Duck Tostada, Beef Tenderloin in Parmesan Basket Stations: Quesadilla (including chorizo and manchego quesadillas), Mediterranean (including lamb satay, Greek Peasant Salad, and a delcious hummus), and Brazillian (incuding papaya spring rolls, basil mashed potatoes, and a carver) Late Night: Chicago Hot Dogs (a special treat for out of town-ers) SERVICE - The service with BP was great as well. My wife and I had a personal sever for the whole night, who made sure our glasses and plates were always full. She always seemed to know where we were, and even waded through the din of our dance floor to find us and make sure we had everything we needed (without being intrusive). Although the craziness of the evening prevented us from having time to sit and eat for any extended period, there was always hot food at our table. We personally did not experience much of the wait staff other than our server, but I did have two very positive encounters that are worth mentioning. At one point, late in the evening, I ventured to the bar. Even though I had not been there yet, the bartender was already making me a drink before I reached the counter. He greeted me with a smile, soon produced exactly what I had been drinking all night, and then asked if my wife wanted anything. Wow. Then, when the wedding was over at the end of the night, the caterers were busy cleaning up and everyone from our wedding was taking final photos and filtering onto busses back to the hotel. I had a brief interaction with another member of the BP staff, who was coordinating cleanup. We had brought in a LOT of our own decorations, from candles to pictures, to vases with flowers. In our planning process, my we had given no thought to cleanup and which pieces we wanted to keep from our decorations. The woman from BP that I spoke with not only got every request right, but also was so cheerful and friendly as I worked through decisions in my head like how many of the medium-square candle holders we wanted to keep. She, along with the rest of the staff exuded friendliness, a sense that they genuinely enjoy their work, and that they want the evening to be very special for the couple of honor. Based on our experiences with our server, my limited interaction with some of the staff, and anecdotes from the rest of our guests, I can only conclude that the staff of BP catering is among the best. In the end (thanks, if you stuck with me), I come back to where I started. BP was an excellent choice for our wedding. Their staff and flexibility, not to mention their delicious food, helped make our wedding the perfect night that it was.

Never hired them myself, but I attended a wedding at The Newberry Library last night and enjoyed the food so much that I asked who the caterer was. And apparently Blue Plate was responsible for this delicious food! Everything was very good, but if you happen to be using Blue Plate for a party here were some of my favorites: Cocktail Hour: Mini crab cakes (had a little spicy kick to them) Butternut squash soup (perfect for a cold night like last night) Reception: Spinach salad with goat cheese (anything with goat cheese makes me happy and this salad was no exception) They served a beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes, and the bite I had was very tasty. Everyone at the table cleaned their plates- always a good sign!I asked for a vegetarian option because I've been having problems with my too small esophagus lately (weird, I know) and didn't want to eat meat. I was expecting some sort of pasta, but it ended up being some sort of shell filled with lots of veggies- it was so good and I appreciated the caterer being so accommodating. For dessert we had an apple caramel wedding cake that may have just been the best cake I've ever tasted, but I don't think Blue Plate is responsible for that. But as soon as I do find out who's responsible for that cake I'll be writing a review and will be visiting that bakery for more cake! :)

Blue plate catered our event. They were fantastic! Responsive during the decision process and willing to go the extra mile for us. The day of the event they were timely, helpful, efficient and, most important of all, the food was delicious! Everyone raved about it. We want to have another party again just so we can have them cater it for us!

We used Blue Plate for a charity event and were almost completely satisfied. The food at the event wasn't quite as delicious as the food they served during the tasting, but it was still quite good and most of the guests were none the wiser. Also, the service (waitstaff and bartenders) was exceptional. Five stars for that. If you're a charity, the cost per plate matters, because you expect to raise funds over and above the cost per person. The price per person went up VASTLY when our guest count was much lower than expected in our original estimate, so be sure to not overestimate the number of guests you will have, or they'll really stick it to you.

Blue Plate catered our wedding in August 2009 at the Cheney Mansion in Oak Park. People are still talking about the amazing food! We worked with Melissa, who is an absolute gem. She put me so at ease and really did double-duty as a coordinator. On top of serving incredible food and great bartenders, her team made the place look stunning -- better than I ever imagined. She took some creative liberties with the centerpieces and candles, all of which I loved. They assigned a personal server to my new husband and I, so we never lacked for a drink or appetizer. We tried out three other caterers and we were sold by the quality of the food and our connection with Melissa. But when some of the estimates came in lower I was concerned. I asked Melissa to meet the price of our second choice, and she did! It was an amazing experience in large part to Blue Plate.

Blue Plate recently catered our wedding at Cafe Brauer, and I give all the credit to the most organized and professional person there, Ken Severin. From the first day we spoke on the phone to working with me, my husband and parents, he couldn't have been more accommodating. The food was delicious and even during our taste testing, it was fabulous actually sitting around a set up table with my family and acting it out. On the day of the wedding, I was running around but he made a point to come up and say hello to me to assure me things were going well and then came up after the food was served to see if we were enjoying it. Love the attention and focus he put into our wedding to make sure it went so smoothly. Thank you, Ken, for an fabulous day!! We have gotten so many compliments on our meal and the overall presentation!

Blue Plate did an amazing job on our wedding! Nicole was so helpful in working with us and coming up with creative ideas to reach a price we were comfortable with. She revised the proposal, tweaking little details countless times until it was exactly how we wanted it. At the wedding, the food was delicious and the service was unbeatable! The appetizers were unique, easy to eat and tasted amazing. We had over 250 guests and Blue Plate was able to serve all of our guests warm, delicious meals in a very short timeframe. They also coordinated well with our other vendors so that we did not have to think about anything related to the food, linens, set-up etc. on the day of our wedding.

We hired Blue Plate to cater our wedding. The food was fabulous and the service was outstanding. There was plenty of passing staff to ensure no one was hungry and the organizers made every aspect seamless. We will use them again and again!!

I hate the fact that I must revisit this review after nearly a year and a half, but recent situations have brought new things to light. The idea that I cannot expect catering to be well done when I have only paid $11.00/head is absurd. My experience with Blue Plate was simply an example of a BIG company losing sight of what it perceives to be the small customer. You can get dinner for two at McDonald's for $11.00. You can get a burger and fries at Chili's for $11.00. You can get a medium pizza at Calo's for $11.00. I am sure I can go on and on about the things you can buy for $11.00 and so can Scott, even if he doesn't want to. Regardless, the price I payed was never at issue. The issue was that I was contractually promised one thing and that thing was not what I received. When I went to Blue Plate so they could make amends, none was offered, short of cutting extra fees that all caterers put into their contracts, right?( and by the way, if I were a doctor and I knew another doctor was doing the wrong surgery, yes I would say something about it....and so it goes with Blue Plate.) The fact of the matter is that you don't have to agree with me. I am not asking you to agree. I wrote about an experience I legitimately had with Blue Plate. It WAS NOT GOOD and I would nevereverever go there for catering again. Other people seem to like them and that is fine. That is their opinion. For my opinion, in the last year, I have been responsible for hiring caterers for 8 different events...none of those were Blue Plate. The use of this forum to knock down another reviewer's experience, not with his own good experience, but at the expense of another reviewer's experience makes his opinion suspect. Boo to Scott.

Blue Plate was the caterer for our wedding this month at the River East Art Center. Start to finish, both the Blue Plate staff was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. They assigned Husband and I our own waiter, so I never had to go to a bar, or find hors d'ouvres. Food was fantastic. FANTASTIC. Everyone was raving about it, and we have been getting e-mails and fb messages about it non-stop. People loved our late night bites - mini choc milk shakes & chicago hot dogs. Linens were gorgeous - we kept getting compliments on how soft the napkins were - I didn't actually see them before the wedding, so that was nice! The only negative for some people would be the price - it can get pricey fast (depending on selections of course) but with them, you really are getting what you pay for. HIGHLY Recommend & worth every penny.

Blue Plate catered our wedding at the Chicago Cultural Center and they did an excellent job!! We worked with Kelly in preparation of the event...she was very understanding and accomodating. She dealt very well with the crazy bridal details and changing things up. She also gave good advice on things we were unsure of. We had an outside bakery that she dealt well with...and after some things did not get returned to the bakery after the wedding, Blue Plate took care of the costs, replacement of missing items with the bakery. The day of the wedding everything looked wonderful. The staff was very attentive and gave great service. All of our guests complimented the food and service. A few things, such as cocktails and apps in the bridal suite for the bridal party, were missing, but we arrived a bit later than expected so no big deal. Overall they did a great job. I highly recommend checking them out for your wedding!

We used Blue Plate to cater our wedding reception at Promontory Point. We chose them from the relatively short list of approved vendors for the Park District. Blue Plate was certainly on the more expensive end of the selection (if not the most expensive) but, in retrospect, it was absolutely the best choice we could have made. Michael, from Blue Plate, was amazing and absolutely stress-free to work with. The food was simply great, as wedding food goes. Even now, almost 3 years later, we still have friends comment on how the food at our wedding was the best they'd had and how it set a new bar. Every detail was top-notch. Michael even saw to it that a generous portion of appetizers were set aside for my wife and I as we arrived late because we were taking pictures. This small detail was never discussed or planned with us, they just had the foresight to do it. That's the sort of thing I'm talking about...

Great service and fantastic food! Blue Plate catered our August wedding at Café Brauer and we were extremely pleased with their food and service. My husband and I were really concerned about having great food at our wedding - and we accomplished that goal by hiring Blue Plate. From the start, Blue Plate provided us with great options. We decided that we wanted to do stations instead of the traditional sit down meal. Before we even got to the tasting Blue Plate had a huge list of station options to choose from. We were able to find stations that met both of our demands (we went with a tapas station, a steakhouse station, and a Greek station). At the tasting Jessica, our contact with the company, was great. She explained everything to us and really made us feel at ease. The food was excellent as well. In fact it was so good that my husband was asking for seconds. As a result, we had a hard time narrowing down the menu. Not only did Jessica help us with our food choices, she also made some great recommendations about other vendors we would need to use (hotels, florists, coordinators, etc.). Jessica changed venue assignments with the company, so Ken was our new contact after the tasting - but he was equally as great. Ken immediately called to introduce himself and helped us iron out all of the details for our big day. Ken was a real joy to work with. The staff from Blue Plate was fantastic at the wedding! They were attentive and focused. Members of the staff, including Ken, were kind enough to go get us food from some of the stations. In addition, they were friendly to all of our guests. Best of all, the food was great (just as good as it was at the tasting). We are still hearing from guests about how much they loved the food.

Out of our entire wedding, we were most disappointed with our caterer, which was a huge let down. Despite guidance from others that Blue Plate would not be the best choice for a wedding, we went ahead and booked them after having a great tasting and an impressive sales person. However, we found that the team was highly unresponsive as soon as we signed our contract, and the day-of execution was poor. I had 3 other professional event planners at my wedding as guests, and, when asked, all three expressed how poorly they thought the execution of the event was. All three also agreed they would not use Blue Plate in the future, based on our experience (and two had used them previously for corporate events). Our food was cold when served at the reception, two tables (including the table with my elderly family members) did not receive their protein servings, the timing of the delivery of food was WAY off (some tables were not served until 45 minutes after others...and our event was small - just 150 people) and the bartenders were not overseen well. I wouldn't say that the caterers ruined our night; however after the fact we felt we really did not get what we paid for. I will say that Blue Plate did give us a 20% discount on the service portion of our final payment, but for our wedding we really just wanted a good experience. We were willing to pay for it, but it did not happen. I would NOT recommend Blue Plate to anyone looking to have them cater their wedding.

The best wedding catering company in Chicago, stylish, delicious, professional. Melissa Samek was our catering coordinator at Blue Plate, she handled everything with impeccable timeliness and taste. We emailed back and forth so many times... planning and restructuring the budget and menu. They are saints. Oh, and thank you to our personal waiter on our wedding day! What a great idea.

We used Blue Plate for our daughter's wedding and I can't recommend them highly enough. Laura worked w/ us from the start; always calm and always willing to review the proposal when we had questions or found mistakes. Although she drew up initial recommendations based upon our responses to the questionnaire, she was very open and willing to play w/ ideas and differences of opinion as we progressed. The tasting was a terrific experience w/ everything being beautifully served and tasting delicious. We were worried that it wouldn't be as good at the wedding, but it all was. Food was hot, fresh, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Appetizers included pesto shrimp on skewers, panninis (mini), lamb chops w/ sauce (finger food), pear on crostini w/ cheese and tri colored gazpacho. Each one was delicious and guests loved the gazpacho. Dinner included the arrugula salad w/ fruit and choice of grilled salmon, roasted thyme chicken and vegetable terrine w/ polenta. All delicious. Guests also raved about the service. The only negatives were that we had to read through each proposal carefully, as there were frequent mistakes and the basic liquor package's wine was not very good, so if you care about the wine, you pretty much have to upgrade. All in all, it was an extremely positive experience and I would unquestionably recommend Blue Plate Catering.

We have booked Blue Plate for our April 2010 wedding at the newberry library. My fiance went to culinary school and really challenged them to use some of his recipes, they were nothing but accomodating, making ravioli from scratch, etc. The food we plan to have at our wedding is amazing-stations with Risotto, Lamb, and an Italian Station. The cheesecake lollipops are awesome. We did a great tasting with Melissa and she was extremely professional and organized, highly exceeded our expectations (especially compared to the other vendors we tried). A couple items that really made a difference; they assign one wait staff just to the bride and groom to make sure we are taken care of all night and they have an event coordinator there the entire time. They were extremely flexible with pricing as we negotiated the contract, they aren't cheap, but I think you really get what you pay for. We will update post-wedding!

We use Blue Plate at work (University of Chicago and they're on the catering list) and I couldn't have been happier with their service. The delivery person was very nice each day (3-day event) and they did a great presentation. I really liked that their sandwich trays came with fruit and pasta as well...it made for a nice meal. The only issue was that the first person I talked to was kind of a flake and didn't send the confirmation over for almost a week. But I called and talked to someone else and they took care of it right away. That's why I took off one star...confirmations with full prices are important.

Blue Plate did everything but the food at my wedding. I'm vegan so I wanted the food to come from a particular vegan restaurant. Laura from Blue Plate was more than accommodating with this request (she says they do this all the time for weddings with specialty food, like Indian weddings). Blue Plate did all of the set-up, service, rentals, bar-tending, etc. They did a great job. The evening went flawlessly. Also, they really eased my planning process. If you're like me and you don't give a damn what china or whatever you get, you just want it to look nice, they will handle EVERYTHING for you. Of course they also accommodate super-detail-oriented brides, so you're set in either case.

My wedding this summer was held at The Rookery, where our catering options were limited to either Blue Plate or Jewell - after setting up tastings with both, there was no question which caterer provided the better meal, and we ended up working with Blue Plate. All-in-all, I was extremely happy with the job they did - I thought the food on wedding day was superb (cider-cured petite tender filet of beef and pistachio-crusted chicken breast, YUM), and the service was professional and smooth. The only problems I had throughout the process were with some of the pricing - our original contract had to be re-negotiated when we made some more expensive food options, and the increased cost seemed out of proportion to the cost of the food itself; the equiptment costs being charged seemed much higher than Jewel had estimated (for the same equiptment from the same vendor), and we could never get a concrete breakdown of where the money was going and what it was being used for...going back and forth several times with updated proposals was somewhat trying and tiresome (especially when half of my wedding budget was already being taken up be the catering). That being said, I still feel that Blue Plate was the right choice for us, that they did a wonderful job on our wedding day, and that Laura Ekker was a very accomidating and lovely person to work with in the months leading up to our wedding.

I often hire Blue Plate to cater events and meetings, and have attended several larger parties that have also used their services. Their food is consistently high quality, their presentation beautiful, and their service is absolutely stellar. Highly recommended.

The food here is amazing, and they have fantastic customer service. We considered them for our wedding, and the person we worked with was great. The food presentations were beautiful, the service was good, and overall we would have loved to have had them, but the prices were a bit high for our budget. They did, however, work with us to get closer to our final number and were open to different ideas in adjusting the price, but we couldn't get close enough to make it work for us. If you have a healthy budget, I would highly recommend Blue Plate--the food is awesome.

Blue Plate Catering just helped host a charity event last weekend and the choice of food was perfect. Certainly one to keep an eye out for and use.

As a fellow caterer , I have known Blue Plate almost from its beginings as a restaurant in Wrigleyville. I was amused by the one bad , one star review from 7/10/07. The comment that caterers use weddings to increase their profit really made me laugh. Weddings carry the lowest profit margin of any kind of event, other than a benefit. And that this person was paying $11.00 per person was also amazing....that is a bargain !, especially from a caterer like Blue Plate. Most caterers wouldn't even touch a party for $11.00 a person. Can you go to McDonalds and spend $11.00 a person ? What do you expect for $11.00 . This person keeps saying they are in the business.....then he should know you get what you pay for. I am always put off when people try to tell me my business. I think we know how much staff is required for an event. Would you tell your doctor how long an operation should take ? Would you tell your lawyer how many hours he should bill you for when working on a case ? Blue Plate has been a friendly competitor for many years, if I can't do the event, I would always highly reccomend them !

After careful consideration we chose Blue Plate to cater our wedding last weekend and we are so glad we did. After requesting a few proposals from a number of caterers, Ken Severin from Blue Plate was quick to follow up to see if we had any questions - something the other caterers did not do. Ken was so thorough and professional and was more than willing to spend time walking us through every detail even before we signed a contract. Throughout the entire planning process, Ken made us feel so great about choosing Blue Plate and took as much time as we needed to discuss details and ideas. We must have emailed him hundreds of times! We met with Ken for our tasting and we were blown away with the quality of the food, the service and Ken's willingness to help us get everything just right for our wedding. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Ken helped with every detail, accommodating last-minute requests and meal changes. So many changes! The food for the wedding was outstanding! It was hot, timely and presented beautifully. Our guests were raving about the food and the service (impeccable service) all evening and many mentioned that the food and service were the best they've ever had at a wedding. Ken and his staff treated us like royalty - anything we needed on the day of, they were happy to help. Wonderful, wonderful service. My husband and I were so pleased and really enjoyed working with Ken and Blue Plate and would absolutely recommend them.

Blue Plate was the caterer for my wedding at The Rookery this summer. I began working closely with Laura Ekker right away. She sent over a packet with several menu choices for appetizers, dinner, snacks and much more. There was a breakdown for food, delivery and equipment so I could begin to get an idea of what the cost would be. This was very helpful because I was able to get a head start on picking out the tableware as well as some food choices and get started with budgeting. Our tasting was beyond our expectations. We felt like royalty from the minute we walked in until the very end. The presentation of each plate is incredible. Even the appetizers are plated as works of art. We kept thinking about how impressive the cocktail hour would be. Dinner was delicious, like eating at a 5 star restaurant. We were concerned that the quality of the food would suffer with mass production on the night of the wedding but the opposite was true! The entrée was actually even better than I had remembered it!! We chose the petit tender as our beef entrée and a goat cheese stuffed pepper for the vegetarian option which was amazing. On the night of our wedding we worked with Katie Cross, who was also great to work with. She was cool, calm and collected the entire night. She also worked really closely with our coordinator so that everyone was on the same page. Katie went above and beyond to make sure everything went perfectly. We were also very pleasantly surprised when we were greeted right away after the ceremony by our personal server who made sure we were able to enjoy the appetizers during cocktail hour and also made sure we always had a cold drink in our hand throughout the night. My only criticism would have to be the pricing. We budgeted a certain way based on the original pricing guidelines that we were given and everything ended up being just a little bit more. Having said that, the value is still very much there. The quality of service and food is certainly worth the higher prices. Laura was also very willing to work with us on the budget so that we were able to stay close to our comfort zone. All in all, I think the best way to describe Blue Plate would be "above and beyond". I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a caterer for their wedding.

Nicole Stephens is our hero! We absolutely adore her and all of the work she did to make our wedding day special and delicious. The Blue Plate tasting was orchestrated with attention to detail and careful planning about the time and date of our wedding. Nicole offered us a variety of options for food as well as the types of place settings, tables and chairs. We cannot thank her enough for her guidance and execution of our special day! Love Blue Plate--we recommend them for wedding caterers!

Working with Melissa and Blue Plate was one of the best and easiest decisions we have made! We had our wedding at the Skyline Loft at Bridgeport Art Center on July 12, 2015. Planning a wedding for 250 people was definitely not the easiest task in the world, but working with Melissa and her team made it a million times easier! The night could have not gone any better; definitely making it the best day of our lives! When looking for caterers, we scheduled tastings with various others, but as soon as we walked out of Blue Plate we knew our minds had been made. The decision was clear when we saw the friendliness, genuine interest in our event, the attention to detail and not to mention the delicious food! After agreeing to work together, I could tell that our planning process was going to be made much easier with Melissa and her team behind us. They went above and beyond before our big day to make sure all the Ts were crossed and Is were dotted. Melissa made life those last few days before much easier by offering to add all the details and requests I had to the venue and making sure everything was just as I had envisioned. Our event was just beautiful and perfect. The night went just as planned, with Blue Plate executing everything flawlessly. They were very attentive to the entire bridal party, not to mention having our personal server take care of anything we needed. Our guests were raving about the quality of the food and the service! They had nothing but great things to say about our special day! We were so happy that things turned out great. During the planning, people kept telling us not to worry, that something was going to go wrong and we should not let that ruin our day. At the end of the night, we were grateful that this wasn't in fact true; something doesn't always have to go wrong. Our day was perfect and Melissa and the Blue Plate team, undoubtedly, played an immense role in that!

Amazing. The key to a successful wedding is a wonderful caterer, and Blue Plate is it. Helen Pole is absolutely phenomenal. So attentive and helpful from beginning to end. For our wedding, we had always wanted to have a burger bar. Blue Plate didn't have that as a menu option, so their chefs designed a menu to specifically meet our wants! The tasting went so well, I couldn't wait to eat it the food again at our wedding a year later! As with any bride, my only regret about the day of my wedding is that I didn't eat enough, even though our personal attendant provided the most amazing service! From the passed hors d'oeuvres to the food and sides to the late night snacks, guests are still raving about our food. Thank you so much. I couldn't imagine planning a wedding without this amazing team.

AMAZING!!!! We used Blue Plate for our recent wedding and I am still in awe! From our first interaction with Helen all the way up to the day of the wedding everything was fantastic. I felt like royalty at our tastings and like a queen at my wedding. Helen was the best to work with and I know our wedding went so smoothly because of her. She was SO easy to work with, professional and very responsive. The food was UNREAL. I went crazy over the appetizers and the Chef's were very flexible with the food. They would change things for us and even created an amazing poutine for our late night food. It was so delicious and so fun to have at our wedding as it is one of our favorite dishes. I hope to get to work with Helen and Blue Plate again. It was such a great experience!

Hands down, the BEST catering place in Chicago, easily a 5 star review for Blue Plate. We had Blue Plate cater our wedding, and everything was amazing. I loved all the food during our tastings and to my surprise the food was still Amazing when cooked for 150 people! Helen Pole was the biggest help in the world and I can't imagine everything running as smoothly as they did without her. Awesome Food + Amazing Service = Best Caterer!

If you're looking for a caterer I HIGHLY recommend Blue Plate - especially if you can work with Rachel! Rachel was an absolute delight to work with. From our initial meeting/tasting to her saying goodbye the evening of the wedding - she made the process so easy - and I am picky! Not only was the food fabulous, but we were able to provide our own liquor - which was a huge plus. Our ceremony was in the same space as our reception so the Blue Plate staff had to do a full flip (with barely anything preset since it was such a small space) in under an hour - and they delivered! Truly, every aspect of Blue Plate's service was top notch. I can't tell you how many emails I wrote Rachel - all of the special touches I wanted incorporated, she made happen. Don't hesitate - book a tasting with Blue Plate and you'll be convinced - and be sure to ask for Rachel!!

I have used this caterer for the VIP business meetings that I host in Chicago. It is pricier but well worth it. The presentation and food are both perfect if you have meetings in town for your executives. I especially get rave reviews on the chocolate covered strawberries as an afternoon treat. The staff in the catering department are extremely simple to work with and it makes my life easy.

Blue Plate catering made our wedding fantastic. We got married at the Nature Museum in August. I work in nonprofit events, and had worked with Lauren P. when I worked at The Field Museum, so decided to meet with her even though I was initially planning to use a different caterer I'd worked with before. Lauren was so much fun at our initial meeting, and then did such an amazing job bringing our vision to life that we completely changed up our plan. Throughout everything Lauren was so helpful making all kinds of recommendations, and was so supportive and thoughtful. We didn't want to do a traditional seated dinner because my husband and I love food so much and trying all different types. We wanted a meal that would be seasonal/famer's market focused (because our venue is where the winter farmers market is, it's how we found out about it) and we also wanted the food to be fun. Lauren (and William!) did the perfect job executing this, with a plated tomato watermelon feta salad and two stations. The first was a rustic, farmer's market themed station with beef tenderloin, chicken, cornbread Madeleines, rhubarb compote, mushroom phyllo pouches, and roasted potatoes, and the second was a slider/picnic themed station with pulled pork biscuit sliders, a salmon slider, veggie burger slider, sweet potato fry cones, and wedge salad. Everything was SO GOOD. The passed hors d'oeuvres were amazing too. Dessert is also really important to me, and my husband and I love childhood inspired desserts. Reading the dessert section on the proposal was a big part of our decision process because it was just so creative! We had mini cookies in a cookie jar, frosting cones, cheesecake pops, turtle brownies, devil dog pops and so many other treats. The service that night was amazing too, for us and for all of our guests. So many guests are STILL talking about how fun the bartenders were, how the food was the best wedding food ever, and they wish they could eat it all the time. Everyone says you don't eat at your wedding but we totally did. We couldn't have been happier with our experience, and I think that says a lot coming from an event planner!! I recommend them 110%. (Especially Lauren and William!!)

Blue Plate catered my wedding at River East Art Center on July 13 this year. I worked closely with Ken, and expectations were exceeded beyond anything I could have hoped for. They made me feel like my wedding was the only one they were working on... which was definitely not the case. To start, I had an hour long conversation with Ken to determine a suitable package of food and drink. At this point nothing was signed, zero commitment, we were simply talking about what they offer and what we would like at our wedding. During this conversation Ken gave invaluable suggestions that were specific to the reception space we had secured. He was a wealth of knowledge and professional through and through. Not to mention the attentiveness of emails, down to the last detail of me emailing to confirm things like the way the napkins would be folded. While I felt silly sending the emails, they never waned in patience and attention to all of these small details. Blue Plate worked with all of my vendors (florist and lighting mainly) to the point that I pretty much didn't even need to interact as the middle man. Once the day came along, my husband and I felt like the king and queen. We had a dedicated staff member making sure we had drinks and enough to eat. She handled everything including making sure our belongings and the bridal/groomsmen's belongings were secure. It was such an unexpected treat that made us feel so special. Also, very early on in planning with Blue Plate I mentioned to Ken that the grooms party like "captain and coke" drinks. Well sure enough... I barely remembered even saying this, and each groomsman spot at the head table had an ice cold captain and coke waiting for them after introductions. Additionally, my parents and my husband's parents had staff members specifically looking after their needs and wants as well. Of course, this wouldn't be complete without mentioning the actual food and drinks. For apps we chose mini cheeseburgers, a gazpacho shooter, and bacon wrapped dates. They tasted absolutely delicious, and looked SO great on the serving plates! Our guests were obsessed with the mini cheeseburgers. Then for dinner we did a chicken option and the petit tender beef option. Both were delightful, as was the vegetarian option! I'm not a vegetarian but almost chose it for myself because I loved it so much during the tasting. Overall, fabulous experience! They understand this may be the first big event you're planning, and they help you along the way, making sure their experience in planning transfers to you so that nothing is missed.

I was married a few weeks ago, and we used Blue Plate as our caterer. Lauren P was our main contact there. I cannot say enough great things about them. We had used them for one other event, so reached out when we became engaged. They suggested several venues to us, and we ended up going with one of their favorites, which worked out perfectly. We had a specific idea in mind... food stations and lounge seating with finger and fork friendly food. They gave us tons of options and came up with the perfect arrangement for that day. Lauren spent many hours with us and emails, and made us feel very confident in our choice. Day of... Blue Plate set up everything, created great furniture arrangements and moved our flowers around... it was just perfect. Great communication with all vendors, great delivery, service, attitude. We bought our alcohol and Binnys but had BP serve.. it was perfect. It didn't seem like there were every any lines anywhere. And around ten they served late night bites of mini Chicago dogs. We didn't just automatically go with BP because we had used them. We received estimates from a few others that we were recommended. BPs pricing was great.. around the same as other caterers with well established reputations, and their customer service before we had even signed the contract was outstanding. Very very happy with them and would highly recommend!

Blue Plate catered for our wedding last summer and did a fantastic job. We got married at the Symphony Center, who requires you to use Blue Plate, but we would have hired them regardless. Working with Devon and Melissa made the planning very easy. The tasting was the most fun part of planning our wedding and we felt like royalty. The best part was that the food at the wedding tasted just as good as at the tasting, making it for over 100 people then, not just us two. The choice for appetizers were fun and different than what you typically see at weddings. The staff at the wedding was also great. They served the meal very efficiently during toasts and kept the evening moving along. Everyone was very professional. The bar staff also kept everyone happy. Also, our personal server that evening was fantastic and anticipated everything we could have wanted. Thanks to the whole Blue Plate crew!

I've been meaning to write this review for a while now, so I apologize it's taken me so long. My husband and I selected Blue Plate and Missy in particular to cater our wedding last July. We had tastings with two other companies and were immediately drawn to how relaxed and non sales pushy Missy was. Of course the food was delicious as well, but it was really her willingness to work with us on the menu and all the the little details including helping us get the most for our money that pushed Blue Plate past the other companies and right into our top pick. The weeks leading right up the the wedding were of course stressful, however everything was made so much easier with Missy's confidence that things would run smoothly (which they did) and her very helpful assistant, Ritu, was always around to answer my emails almost immediately when Missy had to attend to other brides. All the guests at the wedding raved about the food, which included some not so traditional items like chicken and waffle apps and late night biscuit sandwiches with pulled pork. The service was also impeccable and my husband and I never had even a half empty drink in our hands all night. I could easily go on and on about Blue Plate and the fantastic food and service they provide, but the bottom line is if you're looking for low stress and really unique and tasty food, I could not recommend them enough.

Blue Plate service and food is excellent! I often have to order food for client meetings at work and Blue Plate makes it so easy. They come prepared and don't miss a detail. Everyone was so nice and the food was piping hot until the end of the meeting.

Blue Plate catering was a joy to work with. Helen was very responsive with my questions and creative with food choices. She was patient with me, which I can admit is a task sometimes, due to my indecisiveness. Also, their pricing seemed to be on par with other caterers but the complexity of their food was more apparent. Unfortunately, my venue told me late that would charge a fee to use food from a different vendor. Helen, from Blue Plate had worked closely with me and understood my decision to use the venue instead of her to save on $$. Although, I felt terrible about this, she was very kind and never made me feel bad that she had spent time working with me. Now that is professional!!

The tasting was fabulous. We worked with Missy Wright, and cannot say enough good things about their professionalism and the quality of the food they presented us. The attention to detail goes beyond what is expected - they are clearly one of the best! Although we ended up choosing a different vendor for our wedding, I would like to leave a five-star review for them. It all came down to having the bar open all night vs. closing it during dinner. To all those brides and grooms out there: I highly recommend Blue Plate's food and service.

What can I say about Blue Plate that hasn't been said. Ken and his team did such an amazing job. Ken is a true professional and held my hand along the way. He gave me great recommendations and pairings and table linens. The food is amazing. All night guests came up to me and complimented the food. I was worried about food portions but Blue Plate portions were just right everyone left my wedding with full bellies. The staff that worked my wedding were all very nice and very attentive. The bartenders were a blast too. I do not have one complaint about Blue Plate. They really helped make my wedding day magical. Thank you so so so much Blue Plate and especially Ken.

I used Blue Plate for my November wedding at the Chicago History Museum. Of course the food was so AMAZING and unique! I also had a few requests for items that I wanted on a sweet table, which they were able to execute. It was wonderful working with Elinor. She was so helpful getting me everything I needed, responding to emails quickly, creating time line for the night so that everything ran smoothly. They assigned a staff member to wait on only us (as the bride and groom). He was so great! I never visited the bar, yet always had a drink, and he set aside hors d'oeuvres for us so we could be sure to get one of each. Overall, it was a wonderful experience working with Blue Plate and I would highly recommend them!

After very careful research, tastings and thought, we selected Blue Plate to cater our October wedding. As foodies, my now husband and I had a very specific vision for our fall wedding. Out of all the caterers we considered, Blue Plate takes the time to get to know your vision, likes & dislikes, favorite flavors, etc. before they send you a suggested menu, which I appreciated. And sure enough, their initial suggestions were far closer to what we envisioned than any other caterer who had not taken the time to get to know us before sending us a proposal. We worked primarily with Katie, and Laura did the proposals. Both of them were very accessible throughout our planning process and were happy to find ways to accommodate our requests and work with our budget. I found their tasting to be more professional and I think it ran more smoothly than other caterers we considered, and it was fairly easy to make our decision. They also worked very well with our other vendors. Now, everything can taste amazing when prepared onsite in a kitchen for just a few people. But when you are cooking somewhere offsite where you have to build a makeshift kitchen and cook for 125 people, things aren't always the same. I was extremely happy with all of the food at our wedding - I even think a few of the items tasted BETTER than they did at the tasting! We received rave reviews about the food and were so happy with our choice. Katie stayed from setup to clean up and made sure that the night went smoothly. Highly recommended!

I recently got married at the rookery building in chicago downtown. Elinor Brown is the event co-ordinator for blue plate catering. She is an awesome person. Very professional, accommodating, and a sweet heart to work with. She contacted all the other vendors in timely fashion. She also offered to place all the wedding favors for me. She helped me create my dream wedding at the rookery building without making me go over my budget. She was prompt at answering my phone calls and emails. I enjoyed working with her. She also suggested great vegetarian Hors d'oeuvres. All our guest enjoyed the blue plate services and food was excellent. I had all my guest ask me where did I order food from. I highly recommend blue plate catering services. I am very impressed with their staff.

When we first emailed blue plate about catering our wedding we got a response from someone that was very enthusiastic and warm, we also liked her during the tasting and our personalities and energy jived very well . Needless to say, when your spending an enormous amount of money with a catering company for your wedding you are picking it based on the impression you receive from the staff as well as the food so we were put off when we received an email the DAY AFTER we paid our deposit saying that our coordinator had quit and we were being assigned another coordinator, I have to say that if this new coordinator had been the original person we met with we would not have went with blue plate and we were very disenchanted that this switch was seen as acceptable business practice by the company. On day of the wedding our overall experience with blue plate was positive, with the exception of our catering coordinator who prompted several guests to inquire, "who was the girl standing around frowning the whole night?!" (Come on girl, your at a wedding, smile! ) We were also disappointed that several of our little details and "special touches" that we put time and effort into did not get executed and with no explanation or apology as to why not. Ok, now onto the good, the service staff was very good, blue plate gives the bride and groom a personal server which is a very nice touch and ours was very good. The appetizers were tasty as was all the food with the exception of some very dry chicken Parmesan :( and we got good feedback from guests about the food. The night was pretty smooth from my vantage point, but like I said I was disappointed that the little things I made a point of emphasizing we're not carried out because they were important to us.

We cannot say enough good things about our experience working with Missy Wright and Blue Plate for our recent wedding! Their flexibility and willingness to work with our budget was refreshing (we didn't feel like just another wedding)...attention to detail was huge! Further, our guests RAVED about the food! And how often do people make positive comments about wedding food?! The professionalism was top notch; we highly recommend to anyone!!

My husband and I worked with Elinor at Blue Plate to plan the menu for our October wedding, and we could not have been more satisfied with our choice. Elinor was an absolute joy to work with--very responsive to any questions or suggestions I had and just a total sweetheart. Attending the catering tasting was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning for sure--Blue Plate has a special tasting room that they decorate with your wedding colors so that you get a real taste of what your wedding would be like. And the food... oh my gosh, so good. We were looking for a mix of traditional and modern--Blue Plate's salads and mains are delicious and well executed, and their appetizers are so fun and whimsical. After tasting so many wonderful dishes, it was hard to narrow it down. We decided on tomato soup in shot glasses with mini grilled cheese sandwiches, a play on "steak and eggs," a play on "surf and turf" with lobster and filet, BBQ duck tostadas, steak and blue cheese quesadillas, and a spoonful of sweet potato/bacon/marshmallow/maple amazingness for hors d'oeuvres and a roasted pear, blue cheese, candied walnut, thyme/apple cider vinaigrette salad. Our main course was a pumpkin seed crusted chicken breast with wilted spinach and butternut squash gnocchi--perfect for an autumn wedding and way better than your standard dried-out wedding chicken breast. Our guests raved about our food. The service was amazing as well--We couldn't have asked for a better caterer for our wedding!

It was really challenging to figure out what 250 people would like for dinner. But BP nailed it at our wedding. First our passed apps were great, and the servers did not get bottled necked coming out of the kitchen. As far as I could tell all 8 different apps made all around the room. My signature cocktail was a "rum stone sour" the people had never heard of that drink but they figured it out and they were passed along with the apps. Yum. For dinner, we had a spinach salad with a tomato soup for the first course and a filet/ sea bass combo for the second course. A personal server served my husband and I first so we could eat quickly and begin to make the round to greet guests. As we walked around, no one wanted to talk to us because they were to busy eating! Everyone raved about the food. It came out piping hot and was plated beautifully (something my mom was very concerned with.) They even managed to serve our lone vegetarian with no issue. I noticed that the serves were on point all night and no ones drinks went below the half way point. BP was also willing to served Lou Malantis pizza for us as our late night snack. They might be a bit more pricey than other caters that we looked at but it was worth it because we knew we wouldn't have to worry about anything all night. Here is my one issue with them (and all caters really) There last tasting appointment is at 5pm. My husband and I work. We do not work downtown. I had to leave work before 4pm to get to the tasting on time.

76975 stars for the service!! Seriously...the customer service was THAT good! Anyways... =] I went here to do a wedding tasting with friends who are getting married next December. The place is very easy to find and SUPER cute! The decor makes it feel like you are in someone's dining room when you are doing the tasting which I loved, you just felt at home. Our hostess for the two hour tasting was Missy, who I must say was uh-mazing!! She definitely appreciated the awesomeness that was our group, which takes a special person to appreciate!! HA! She was very knowledgable about everything and anything that we wanted to know, which was refreshing. So, we tried about 30 items, yes you are reading correctly...we had a feast of samplings and wine. OMG...the wine...it was so good. I HAD to have had like 6 glasses! Lush. But seriously, everything was good and some things were amazing! The standouts for me were the bacon wrapped scallop with an orange butter sauce dolloped on top, the little Asian inspired edible paper package, asparagus soup, jumbo shrimp and the chocolate creme brulee. This place has some SERIOUSLY good flavor combinations, the sizes I felt could be a tad bigger, but other than that, it was very good. I would definitely recommend for any of my friends who get married in the future to go for a tasting and see for themselves what a good caterer is all about! =]

We just celebrated the wedding of my oldest daughter this month and had the pleasure of working with Eleanore from Blue Plate. Our experience working with Blue Plate from start to finish has been exceptional. From guiding us through our choices for the event, the tasting and then the "big event" was spot on. We recieved so many rave reviews about the food served at our special event. It looked artful and tasted delicious. We were able to win over our youngest of guests to the more refined developed taste buds. I want to be sure that I include in this review not only the highest level of food but the outstanding service and professionalism we experienced during the planning and day of event. Blue Plate delivered an exceptioanl experience for our guests!!

I was honestly expecting crappy slop on a bed of greasy mush. Blue Plate Catering exceeded my expectations by delivering and setting up perfect food. My work was having a little event and needed catered food to wow the staff. WOW they did. They came with: A veggie salad Ranch and this creamy vinaigrette in cute bottles Corn Tortillas Chicken Fajitas Beef Fajitas Rice Beans cookies I must comment them on their timely manner and their efficiency! I love how they set everything in order of how people will pick up the food. They seem like a company that is oriented towards quality not quantity. The person who they sent was pleasant. I had to bust one star for the expensiveness but it was worth it....when if I didn't know about their perfectly cooked creations...I would not choose them simply because of the price listings. I would definitely hire them for our next big event!

I ordered Christmas dinner on behalf of my boss and his family. Kim and the Blue Plate staff were so easy to work with and helpful every step of the way - from coordinating how much food per person to helping arrange times for delivery even on Christmas Eve. My boss and his family raved about the quality of the food, the ease of delivery, and assured me that we would be using Blue Plate for personal and business needs in the future. Highly recommended!

Disappointed that I was not served what was promised at a wedding I attended. We were one of the last tables to be served and my duet plate was served w only one part of the duet. The rest of the table received the veg option and it was only when I asked about this simultaneous drop that the server explained that other tables had changed their minds and they ran out. Of course this is understandable but; - people change their minds at every wedding - this should have been accounted for. -this should have been explained prior or while they dropped plates instead of hoping to get away with it. It was told to us by the bride prior to the wedding that everyone would be served the same items and that they would have some veg options on hand. Clearly they messed up - just a bit ridiculous to me that the mess up would be on quantity of all things. Being a gracious guest - the couple had no idea this happened and in terms of the food we got, it was fine. Salmon on top of risotto is standard wedding fare and it was fine/good.
