Love this place!! Huge ass selection of every kind of beer you want from all over the world. They have all the Unibroue beers that I love, Trappiste Rochefort 10 and tons of beers I have never tried or heard of. I tried an ale on draft that was so smooth and satisfying, and packed a punch at 9.5% ABV. Awesome! There are board games and books all about beers and the staff there is knowledgable, friendly and welcoming. Best part is that this place is only a few minutes away, and if you want to take their beers to go, it's a $4 discount off the dine in price, so I can take my craft beers to go!! This is a must for every beer lover!

We went to Los 3 Ponchos bought food and brought it to Beermiscuous where we enjoyed the atmosphere and libations. Beermiscuous is a large, long room. The front and back of the room are warmed by windows. The decor is dark and mature: rich woods, black boards, stools and plush chairs. It's uncluttered and spacious. The ceiling at the front of the room is domed and lined with narrow planks like the inside of a barrel. There are several refrigerator cases filled with a bajillion kinds of bottled and canned beers. M took her time browsing the bottled beers and I went to the menu that showed beers on tap. I ordered two baby-sized glasses of beer: one with apricot and another with pineapple. Scrumptious delumptious! We sat at the bar where we could watch volleyball on a discretely placed wall television. Other folks were playing games in the back with some well-behaved children. Two people were sitting at high tables in the front sipping beer and using free wifi on their laptops. The guy working at Beermiscuous was a young hipster. He was friendly when it came to discussing the volleyball game, but I wish he had been a bit more out-going when it came to discussing beer. He didn't offer any help, information, or suggestions when either of us was making selections. Our three beers cost $11 (two baby sized tap beers and one large bottle). We would love to return and repeat the dining and imbibing experience.

There's something about Beermiscuous that speaks to me on a spiritual level. Maybe it's the impressive selection of craft beers, maybe it's the hipster-chic interior, maybe it's the board games and free wifi. Maybe it's the perfect mix of all three. The only thing I can think of complaining about is that, for the cans and bottles, it's more expensive to drink in than to take away, but really, that only encourages me to try their tap selections when I'm in and make a six pack to go. If you're in the area, definitely check it out!

Beermiscuous: The name says it all. This where you go to drink beer albeit in a sophisticated coffee shop like environment. Just one problemo. I don't drink beer. Boo! Why? Because I don't like it. So why do I go here you ask? I was hoping they would have a nice selection of ciders. Looking at the oodles and oodles of bottled craft beer available surely they would have a section for ciders. Um, not to be! One brand (Johnny Appleseed if I remember correctly) three or four flavors. That's it. WTF! A trendy sophisticated beer joint should have more cider options considering it's fast growing popularity. The space is great for a group of friends to bullshit over beers or to spend time on your lappy. However for cider, non-beer drinking super cool dudes like me, we feel left out. Please if anyone at Beermiscuous reads this increase your cider supply, if you do I will be back. In the meantime I will patiently be waiting for The Northman to open in North Center ( Chicago's first cider bar). On the website they have a link called SWAG, you should change it to SWAGC (So Where Are the Good Ciders). Ugh! 2 stars for decor and environment.

Our favorite neighborhood bar closed over a year ago (Rocks) and we were really bummed to have to find a new regular bar. Luckily, Beermiscuous opened last summer and we are SO happy they did. This is the perfect place to start a casual night out. We also love the beer selection and have a fun time making our own six packs. We love local brews and this is the best place to find an awesome selection.

Stopped in on a Friday evening and wasn't disappointed. They had 12 beers, fairly rare, on tap with sample sizes available for all of them. Myself and my girlfriend split a flight and exchanged friendly banter with the staff. The bar has a nice setup with splitting the people checking out six packs and people grabbing beer from the bar. The seating is very spacious with soft background music, perfect for a date or place to meet up with friends where you can actually hear each other (yes this is a reference to the review who apparently wants loud music and tvs at a cafe bar). There's no food but with the availability of takeout and delivery places in the area, that wasn't stopping several patrons from chowing down on pizzas and wraps. With rotating taps, great atmosphere, and free wifi, I think I've found a new place to do paperwork and meet with friends on Fridays!

This place is great! I love the coffee house feel with the wainscoting and couches. They have a dizzying selection of beer available to go and an interesting, rotating, selection on tap. It's a (seemingly) eclectic mixture of things I've grown familiar with at the grocery store riddled with a bewildering array of bottles covered in gorgeous labels that I've never seen before. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable and are comfortable making recommendations if you're undecided or vacillating between choices. They also have quite a few pairings and activities throughout the week which is a good way for me to abandon my comfort zone and discover something new. My only qualm? It can get expensive, fast. Even without food. And you know one beer often leads to another...

Oh my, what a wonderful treat to have Beermiscuous in our neighborhood...my hat's off to them for devoting so much time, effort and resources to bring us a huge selection of amazing beers. This is the perfect place for a date or any get-together...there's a lot to talk about and select from, beer-wise. Also, we brought in food from a neighborhood eatery, and they encouraged that. My wife enjoyed reading one of the beer guides (book form) they had, and I liked that all the bottle beers were so easy to see in their wall-to-wall glass refrigerators. The beeristas were both very friendly and expert, and they helped give us a marvelous experience. Near us, people were on their laptops, and two ladies were playing the Connect Four (vertical checkers) game...lots of quiet happiness all around. I hope you'll experience Beermiscuous, because you'll have an excellent time.

Very cool concept and well executed. When I went in, people were legitimately meeting, taking, and reading / on their computers like normal cafes, but just...with beer :) I especially like the option to get 4oz samples for $2 a pop...not only can you sample the great craft beer, but you can space it out and keep it cold and fresh. Loved it! Will 100% be back regularly.

Recently hosted a beer tasting in their basement. Very cool environment and over 700 options for craft beer. Everything was great except for one thing. The guy who led our tasting was definitely a beer expert but lacked public speaking skills in regards to knowing his audience. You could tell he was passionate about beer because he would answer simple questions with very detailed and complex answers way beyond anyones basic knowledge of beer. After the tasting we hung out upstairs and had a great time. Very chill relaxed environment. It's like a coffee house for beer. The beer was delicious and we did learn something. Great event for a small group of clients. They catered in pizza from across the street and it was very good.

Really comfortable spot. Like a coffee shop for beer. Not romantic, but the "beeristas" are friendly and know what they're talking about. And bringing your own food isn't half bad.

Good quality beer in a cozy atmosphere that is decidedly more similar to a European cafe than a rank and noisy bar. The barkeeps are knowledgable and always manage to offer a recommendation that suits your taste.

we stopped in here on a recent afternoon. great selection, knowledgeable staff and nice ambience for hanging out. it is much bigger than it appears from outside -- lots of seating, fireplace and some fun random games. picked up a great mix and match six pack to go, too.

Alllll 5 stars, besides one thing. I'll start with that. I brought my mom who was in from out of town along with my aunt and cousin. Anyway we were on our third beer and they brought them to our table. The tall skinny guy with dark shaggy (ish) hair was rude. He said the name of the beer and my mom said "which number was that" and he rolls his eyes with an attitude. Like okay sorry dude that she knows it by the number. Otherwise ...great experience. We were by the fire and it was fun. So many beers. BYOF. They first guy(reddish hair/beard) who greeted us was super nice and helpful. Will be back but that one guy....loosen up.

This place is superb. Tons of unique beers in the cooler to drink onsite or carry out, a dozen (mostly local) brews on tap, comfy environment and run by friendly beer lovers. It's the kind of place where you can do samplers of all the stuff you've never tried or full pours of your seasonal favorites. We particularly love the Wed. food and flight nights, where a local food truck parks outside.

  • MJ S.

Do you like cafes? Do you like reasonably-priced beer? Do you like exotic beer you've never seen before nor will ever see again? I bet you do, buddy! I bet you also like relaxed and spacious atmospheres. I'm even more willing to bet you also like Wi-Fi. And here's my last guess... you want to eat a Muskie's hamburger or Thai food from Jim's and drink a beer at the same time. I know, I'm psychic.

I loved our visit! I hope this place is able to keep it up on their social media presence and special events as I think that's a big draw- we came in Wednesday for "Food and Flight Night" to get Pasties from Bridgeport Pasties food truck last night and sample some great local brews. The food was amazing and I'm always happy to support a food truck, and even more happy to support local microbreweries. Beermiscuous had microbrews from around the country, but the emphasis was on Midwestern brews, so all of my favorites from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois were there plus a fair number I'd never heard of. I love the vibe - they have a restoration hardware look that I want to replicate in my own home. We were really annoying with our indecisiveness and slowness to order and pay, but all of the guys were so nice and helpful, never once acted annoyed and genuinely smiled at us. The beers were great, expertly poured and it was refreshing to watch the guy at the tap carefully inspect every glass right before pouring to make sure it was perfectly clean - these guys are serious about quality! They also keep their own "menus" of local places that deliver or are within steps - they don't serve their own food, but you're welcome to bring or order in your own, which is the right way for a tap room to function and they make it super easy. The only thing I would say they can improve on is their board game selection - we played Sorry but some cards against humanity and some other choices would be great. We might bring our own next time :)

Wow where to begin, this place was fantastic. If you are a fan of craft beer, this is one of the best places to go in the Chicago area. Not only did they have local Chicago beers on tap, but you could also buy beers to enjoy on site or take to go. The prices were very reasonable for draught beer (~$6) and the prices for beers to go were very reasonable as well. For the cold winter Chicago days, they also had a fire place where you could sit by and enjoy you beer along with board games. Gino's is right across the street and is BYOB, so this is the place to go to get your beer fix and then enjoy some pizza.

Great date spot. Its a beer cafe. There is adequate lighting and a fireplace with chairs. The chairs and fireplace were perfect on Sunday evening to sip some suds and shoot the shit. The had classy jazz playing on low volume, adequate lighting. It was just a nice way to drink beer in public. No dark lighting, no crowding, no riff-raf. Several people had kids with them which only added to the charm. As good a $6 beer as exists. Great Atmosphere. I will go back.

This is my new hang out from this point forward.....I love their beer selection and the people that hang out here are super nice and friendly. Very classy which i love, but chill at the same time. Love it!!

This is my new favorite establishment in Chicago. The owner is incredibly accommodating, the beer on tap is served in small pours or large, and the bottle selection is unique and fairly priced. If you are any sort of beer geek, this is your sanctuary. If you want to relax and do work, this is a more fun place to do so than any other place. Bring your friends. Bring your food. Bring your computer. Stunned.

Beermiscuous? Cool name. "Drink Around"? Cooler slogan to match the cool name. 300+ craft beers, most of them local? Even better. It sounded like a great place to check out and try some new beers, so I decided to come here on a date last Friday night since she likes craft beers too. The place continued to sound like a hit when I pulled up and found that they even had a little free parking lot. Nice. I was excited. Then we walked in. It was odd having to order our first beer from the "checkout line", but at first I didn't think it was a big deal - get your drink, find a table, right? I don't know if there were any menus at the counter for their 300+ beers, but the only thing I saw was the 12 drafts on the wall. Are we supposed to stand by the coolers and read each bottles' label to see what they have here? Maybe there were menus and we just didn't see them, in any case, we didn't ask and just ordered from the draft list. The place has a wide open space, yet there were only a handful of tables. Luckily, after wading through a group of a few standees also waiting for tables, we saw there was one small table in the corner that would seat the two of us. So much open space, so little seating. We finished our first round and kind of waited a couple of minutes, and then realized...there's no wait staff here! Do we halt our conversation for a few minutes while one of us gets up to walk all the way across the room, stand in line, and order another round? Do we both get up and get in line? We kind of have to, there's no menu here on the table to look at and choose from anyway. So we got up. Walked across the room. But you know what else was across the room? The door. We were done with the weirdness of the place. We kept walking. In my opinion, this "coffee shop" model has a major flaw. Most people order one drink when they go for coffee. Most people order multiple drinks when they go for beers. Don't make people get back up to get more drinks. Do people do that anyway at some bars? Sure, but those are the noisy, fight-for-space at the bar places that customers here are trying to avoid. Hire a waiter/waitress. Put beer menus on the tables so we can browse the selection more easily. Add more seating since there's space for it. I've been to several places that also have 300+ beers, market themselves as a "chill hangout place" and do all of these things. Even the suburbs have them.

Get to this place quick because it won't be long before it's packed daily. The beer cafe...great concept and excellent follow through here. Stop in to check out the impressive mix-six selection in the front end (sold to-go or dine-in) and stay for a while in the amble seating space in the back. I like how it's not too noisy - a bar where you can hear what other people at your table are saying. Taps are all available in small pours, free wifi, and tv near the bar for unimposing sports viewing. I'm sold!

I have actually been to this establishment prior and had an "ok" experience. The selection was vast and excellent but the hipster attitude seems to be an ongoing problem. I get it, you wear converse, you drink PBR, that's ironic...cool. However, for the normal patron looking for a great experience, it was underwhelming. I recently walked past this joint at around 11:30pm on a FRIDAY NIGHT; all the lights were on and the doors were open, so myself and a friend walked in. The aggressively "sassy" employee quickly shooed us out and made sure that we understood that they close at 11pm and could not dare to entertain a possible client outside of this very stringent time frame. This would have been a perfect situation to create two lifelong patrons. Allow me to explain the way an eager business owner would approach the opportunity...Instead of kicking people out, when it appeared very much open, they could have taken this chance to educate us on the selection, ideals, and experience of coming to their establishment; this would have gone a long way. Instead, they acted like hollywood actors being bothered by the papparazzi. I will not be returning back, and I wish them the best of luck.....

Was really looking forward to trying it out, and I was not disappointed. I feel like this is the sort of place a beer nerd like me has been searching for for a long time. Huge selection, both on tap and in bottles. And the ambiance and style - not a bar in any traditional sense, think large Starbucks, but instead of coffee, you have beer! Even having been open only a week, they were well-organized, the staff were knowledgeable, it was clean, comfortable (although some of the metal chairs got pretty hard after a while). If you like craft beer, and like supporting local breweries, this is the place. There is one TV (we watched part of the World Cup), but it is only view-able by a small portion of the area, and is very unobtrusive. Like I say - more Starbucks than bar in ambiance.

I'm happy I moved in so close to Beermiscuous. We were eager to try it out so my roommates and I went the first weekend we moved here. Pleasantly surprised. The beer selection was vast & the employees were very knowledgable. 3 girls and they didn't speak over our head. So what if we want a hard cider??? Haha anyway-- it was cozy atmosphere in the back seating area. Help yourself to water & pretzels-- a nice touch. I'm excited to spend a winter evening by the fire at Beermiscuous!

This place has a really cool concept. I love a good variety of beer and being able to try lots of new things and the guys were very helpful with suggestions. However, there was a lot that kinda bothered me about this place and I am not trying to rip on it, but I have a few comments. First of all, the decor and vibe felt very off. The lights were super bright, the seating was uncomfortable, and although there were candles, fireplaces, and tv's, none of them were being used. It just felt cold and not somewhere I'd want to stay long. The music was also very low. For opening night, the guys running the place seemed very much in a hurry to close. When you start sweeping, taking out garbage, and counting your tips while people are still there enjoying their last beer, it sends a message of "get the hell out" to guests. They also call the sitting area a "cafe" when they don't sell any food. It is confusing. This place has great potential, but it is too soon to get cocky and a few changes need to be made before this place flops before it has a chance. If anything, I'd come here to buy some beers to go but not to sit and drink. Best of luck to ya though, hope it works out.

Love~ Love~ Love~! It doesn't hurt that I'm a huge beer lover and advocate but yea, I loved this place. A fella asked me on a date to this place. The date was a dud but dayum did I delight in dis discovery! (Alliteration try & fail). So thanks random dude for leading me to this amazingness. I am very into samplers & beer flights so that I can try as many beers as possible at new places. Discovering new brews is kind of my thing. I was so pleased you could make a flight of anything on the Beermiscuous draft list. The night I went, they had about 13 on tap and I had only tried 2 which left me abundance to try out. Plus, there was a sour on the list! Sours are few & far between so I was quite pleased with that offering. I did find one beer I feel in love with that evening - Shocked Apricot Belgian Pale by Moody Tongue. Yummers! I liked that it was a very chill, not overly crowded atmosphere with a variety of seating from comfy chairs & couches to long tables for bigger groups. Coffee shop environment with people 'working' but much better because...uh....beer. Aside from what just I liked here...they do of course offer pints of beer, have a ton of fun events (check their calendar/sign up for their mailing list) and the front is a bottle shop. Yep that's right, you can buy some good bombers to go so the fun doesn't have to stop here at the end of the night. I pretty much want to go back here with everyone I know.

Beermiscious is a great place to come for a few dranks and chill. I love the natural lighting in here and, of course, the huge selection of beer. They carefully curate what they have on tap and I liked everything I tried. You can also order different sizes (including taster sizes) which allows you to try a little bit of everything. I can imagine this place gets packed, but on a weekday afternoon it was really quiet. I actually felt bad cackling and laughing since there were only a few random people with books and laptops. And pro for us coming from the suburbs, there's a lot adjacent to the property with free parking. Score! I'll definitely make my way back as soon as I can.

This past weekend, we checked out Beermiscuous. I've never been to a Beer Cafe before. I gotta say, I liked it! You can casually drink there and just lounge around cafe style without the loud drinking background noise. We came in the middle of the day so it was pretty chill and calm. The place is spacious with a cellar downstair for private events. Customer service was attentive and inviting. There is also complimentary pretzels and water. In addition, a private lot which is a nice perk if you plan on driving. I enjoyed the industrial modern decor and the white tile details. They also have a map of all the breweries in the Chicagoland area; we've only checked out 12, so many more to explore. The light fixtures were also innovated. The place is very inviting and cozy. You can place board games or card games. It is also a Bring Your Own Food type of place. They also have a lot of craft beer that you can mix and match into a six packs.

Great craft beer selection. You can bring your own food and enjoy a beer flight in the bar area. Beers in the cooler are $4 cheaper if you take them home. Really cool concept for beer lovers.

This place is great! And sorely needed in a sort of bleak area. Personally, I love it because it is located near a friends house, and it's great for picking up a wonderfully mismatched six pack of beer treats. There's also tap beer available and a cafe atmosphere including wifi. Very chill and welcoming. Friendly guys behind the counter. And some people don't like the name, but me - I love it!

What a gem! I wish I lived closer...we would be here all the time! Friendly and knowledgable staff and great space to kick back and enjoy the brew.

This place is a breath of fresh air. This is not a bar so much as it is a cafe that serves beer. It's the kind of place I could go with a group or by myself. It's quiet and has free wifi, so I could even bring a laptop and get work done. Great selection of beers on tap (with a serious focus on Chicago brews) and all are available in small portions, so sample away. Long story short, on the border of a neighborhood known for raucous, douchey bars, this place stands out in the best way possible.

Loved this place! Went on a late Saturday afternoon with a friend. I've never seen a beer cafe before but that's exactly what this place is. They have a great selection of craft beers in the front for you to take home or enjoy in house. They also have 12 rotating beers on tap and let you get a flight of any four of your choosing. Decor is great and the place has a super chill vibe. Great place to hang out and have a few beers!

awesome beer selection. my friends and i came here for a beer craft class, where you get a 4 oz. tasting of five beers plus an additional beer of your choice (bottle or draft). we used an online deal and only spent $29. I would say it's a little too pricy if you pay the regular $56. our bartender was very informative, and answered a bunch of questions that we had. they have 12 beers on tap, most of which appeared to be local. we stuck around to try a few more beers. there's over 400 beers to choose from, and you can make your own 6 pack to buy for carryout. they don't serve food, but it's BYOF, so we got pizza delivered. this is a perfect spot to drink a variety of beers that you can't find elsewhere.

Loooved this place! Great selection of craft beers--you can build your own 6 pack to go, or enjoy one of their bottled beers at their place, or get a single beer/a flight from what they have on tap. Guys working there were great--friendly and down to earth. Atmosphere was on point--didn't need to shout out to be heard by my drinking companions. I wish I lived in Chicago so I could come here more oft en!

If you can, go during the week in the middle of the afternoon. We basically had the place to ourselves, except for a few "workers" with their laptops. It was pretty quiet in here, so don't plan on breaking any hearts or divulging horrific details about your life here. It's like a library with beer, that allows talking, but you won't see any rowdy drunks taking over - at least not during the day. Beermiscuous had maybe 12-15 beers on tap when we visited, but there are also coolers lining both sides of the front of the bar. You can purchase canned & bottled beer to go, or to stay, but be forewarned that it will cost a little bit more if you choose to drink it there. We couldn't resist buying a can of the beloved blood orange beer (the brewery name escapes me now). I was fine with paying $5 for it, since I will never remember the name of it to attempt to buy it for myself. If you can't find SOMETHING in those coolers, you're insane. The real draw of Beermiscuous is the draft list. Each selection has a "track number," which made it a lot easier to order, considering some breweries and their brews are coming up with some wacky names. I wanted to order 2-3 sample sizes (4 oz), so the track number made is SO easy. I tried the Ale Syndicate Seven Flowers, solely based on the flowery name. It wasn't my favorite, but the Coffee Porter I tried was absolutely delicious. Complimentary water and pretzels are available, which was welcome! This is a great spot to meet up with friends and try new beers. They also offer their space for private parties and groups.

Would give 0 stars if possible. Bought a groupon for 1 flight of beer and 2 full pours. Bartender informed us it would be 1 pour instead. Showed him the app that clearly said "Each guest will receive 2 full pours." He called the owner and came and told us they had been in talks with groupon to change the language because it was incorrect, despite the fact I had bought the groupon about 12 hours prior to using it. Poor service, bad smell, warm drafts. Will never return and look forward to this business going out of business so a more reputable one can replace this prime property!

The unusual name issue aside, and the lack of slightly later hours that would make it a tad more preferable to me, this place is awesome. And is definitely a nice relief, from some of the douchy bars that would make me want to go to a different neighborhood otherwise. I treat it as a place to have a few beers on tap(& occasionally a bottle of some beer), and more get several to go since you save money that way. Very laid back, which is always a good factor for a bar to have, with also a touch of the friendly feel that many coffeehouses have. Plus of course, the clever 'beerista' employee title. Don't forget to sign up for a rewards account as well, as each 10 points will give you $1 off any purchase. And you can use those rewards on both beer purchases for there, and to go. They have complementary pretzels, and as they don't serve food, you can bring food from anywhere else inside. Your receipt here(keep in mind you have to ask for a paper one to be printed, since they don't give it to you otherwise) gets you discounts at least at Gyros on the Spit and also Jim's(a thai and sushi place IIRC), which are both immediately north of here. I really, really wish they'd consider extending their hours very slightly later on Tuesdays to Saturday if nothing else, maybe till 11pm, and Friday and Saturday till midnight?

Even though this place is across the street from my house, I would still travel far and wide to come to this craft beer cafe. Top five reasons to visit Beermiscuous everyday (except Monday. They're not open on Mondays.) 1. They have an AMAZING selection of beers on tap and in bottles. For over a year I was looking for La Roja made by Jolly Pumpkin. Guess who has it? Yep, Beermiscuous. YAY!!! They also offer 4 oz. pours of their draft beer selection. 2. You can buy bottles of beer to go. So basically, this establishment can act as your mini craft beer mart. 3. BYOF --- Haven't seen this acronym in a while? It means BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. Yep, again, pretty awesome. 4. Very friendly and knowledgable staff/bartenders. 5. I usually don't comment on the decor/atmosphere of a place, but I love Beermiscuous' concept. It just sends the right vibe to sit, drink beer, and be happy.

I've been here 4 times since it opened and really like their "coffeehouse replaced with beer" concept. - I doubt there's a larger beer selection in Chicago. -The guys running the place are incredibly helpful with any questions on any types of beer. -It's a more chill place that's cleaner than almost any bar I've been to -The music's low enough that I can hear the conversation with my friends. -Free pretzels -They have wi-fi available, which is nice if I want to just hang out and bring in my laptop, although I haven't done that yet. -They sell beer to-go -I like their ordering process. It's a line at a cash register similar to a coffeeshop. As a shorter male, this is appreciated since many bartenders seem to serve females faster, or I get boxed out by larger dudes. I also don't have to reach over someone sitting at a bar.

If the Inklings were alive today they would drink at Beermiscuous. Beer selection + fireplace + coffeehouse atmosphere + ample space for conversation. Great for grabbing a craft beer with friends or a date and mixing a 6 pack to go.

Great selection of beers. Only 12 on tap (I can't believe that I now use the word 'only' to describe 12 taps), but bottles out the wazoo. I was there on a Wednesday night and the atmosphere was very chill (in a laid back way, not in a cool club way) almost to the point that I felt like I was drinking in a library. Service was friendly and I love that you can order the small pours so you can sample several beers before committing to one (I have commitment issues). Prices were very, very reasonable for the quality and the neighborhood.

Absent of a single ounce of beer, coffee drinkers get their cafes and coffee houses with almost endless variations of coffee beans and drinks. But finally, beer drinkers get their long deserved exclusive oasis in the form of Beermiscuous. Whether you're a frequent craft beer drinker or a lover of macros (Miller and Bud), this place can be overwhelming when you first walk in. The feeling wears off a little thanks to the staff, who are eager and knowledgeable with their assistance. The draft list and bottle selection are equally eclectic and impressive. If you're not sure what to drink off of the draft list, they do offer a fancy looking flight made up of four glasses. The bottles can also be consumed on site, but for a higher price than if you chose to simply purchase and take home. If you live close by and have already taken in the glorious atmosphere that is Beermiscuous, then you're in a sweet position to buy and enjoy from the comfort of your balcony. Couches, chairs by the fire and table tops make up the seating area and offer customers a mellow and quiet (for the most part) space to enjoy their brews and chat with others. The L themed map of the Chicagoland breweries is a cool piece of art that adds to the uniqueness of this establishment. Escape the excessive noise and party atmosphere that is about 70% of the bars in Chicago, and come to Beermiscuous to enjoy good beer and actually be able to have a conversation with the person next to you.

This place is absolutely outstanding. It literally has everything I want a relaxed craft beer place to have. Not only is their beer selections one of the best in the city but it's a cosy, friendly, and calm environment in a neighborhood that is chalk full of brobars and amatuer drinkers. There is a fireplace to warm up next to and read and even board games if you get sick of the free wifi. It's the perfect spot to have a small business meeting or to sit for an afternoon with your computer.

Wonderful beer selection! Draft menu only has 14 options, but the coolers are filled with about a hundred more. I was a little surprised they didn't have any Three Floyds cooler options. However, just as any above-average bar in the Chicagoland area, they had gumball head on draft--the redeeming factor for such an oversight. This place is a cool spot if you feel like getting a good local craft beer, but don't want an environment similar to some pretentious self-aware places in Wicker or Logan. Prices are reasonable, though a little stiff when opting to drink some of the cooler beers in the cafe as opposed to taking them "to go" (they charge more if you drink the beer at the place rather than just buying it and taking it). P.S. When you start a tab they hold your card in the cash register; makes you feel very secure about them keeping your card.

A beer boutique for the discerning beer shopper. There are some really interesting beers here, both to drink on premise or to take away. I think a mix and match 6 pack makes a great hostess gift or a fun way to try new beers. The only thing I would change is the check out process, which is very congested and confusing when the place packs in on Friday night.

Yes, it's here: a place you can sit and study while drinking beer! How awesome! Beermiscuous has a very classy, but chill vibe (which I'm hoping doesn't get too crazy when school gets into session) and is the coolest hangout spot I've ever gone to. Great for studying, reading, meeting up with friends, a casual date... and did I mention there's an amazing beer selection?! The bottles can be sold to go or you can hang out there and drink (without a corkage fee). There is no food sold here, but you can bring in any outside food you want and there are free pretzels to snack on if you fb/tweet that you're enjoying your beer at Beermiscuous (but these days who doesn't post their current location anyway). The owner Paul is really helpful if you need help looking for a beer or if you just need someone to talk beer with. I already told him I'm definitely going to be a regular here! My only wish is that I lived closer and didn't work every night so I could attend the cool seminars and tastings that they have throughout the week. I know this place will only grow in popularity as people fall in love with it like I have!

Easily my favorite place for beer in the city. They have a great selection of cans/bottles and 12 taps that are constantly rotating. Every Tuesday they have tastings of breweries from Chicago and around the area and Wednesdays they do food/beer pairings. You can get beer to go or have it opened an drink it there. Free wi-fi, free pretzels and it's BYOF and they have a bunch of menus for you to browse. If you're looking for good beer, try this place.

Awesome atmosphere and beer choices. Our initial "beermeister" was awesome. The second guy, not so much. Wish I knew names. (We arrived noonish)

Concept needs some tuning. Beautiful bar with the best selection in Chicago of canned and bottled beer. Downstairs is much less impressive, rather than looking like a Rathskellar it reminded me of a suburban basement rec room. However, the coffeehouse concept results in people who order a beer and then hold a table while on their PCs using the free Wi-Fi. As a result on a Saturday afternoon no tables and only one empty seat at the bar were available upstairs. But there was plenty of spots downstairs in the underwhelming basement. I'd go back only to buy the much cheaper to-go beer.

Part beer store, part bar. They have a plethora of bottles for sale (take home or drink there) and about 20 taps. Fancy, craft beer only. Duh. Plus, a knowledgable staff who seems delighted to answer your questions and serve you some beer. I definitely recommend this spot for beer aficionados. While it desperately needs a patio out back, it be super cosy in the winter with comfy chairs surrounding a fireplace. I also ventured to the basement to discover larger space that seems like it could host smaller events.

This place is great! Cheaper to-go beers than Benny's and a large selection! Great beers on draft. Will definitely be back.

About Applebee's

Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.

Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
