Audible SIGH. Me: "Hi, we'd like 1 XL pizza, and 9 cups for water." Girl: "We don't have cups for water." Me: "really, you don't have water?" Girl: "Oh, we do...just not cups for it." Me: "Great, then." Let me frame this for y'all...I brought in a group of hungry pre-teen softball girls, and in an effort to support their (very) lacking nutritional intake, I was trying to inch around mass consumption of pop/soda/sugary juice. This was not an effort to save money, really...as frankly, $9 doesn't really make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things. HOWEVER, it truly annoys me that a cashier/staff member, etc can't evaluate a situation and just...ya know, do the damn right thing. I ended up paying $9 for 9 cups, and STILL allowing them to just drink water. It's the principle of the matter...and we are paying customers who just want to drink water! Outrageous. As for the pizza? It's huge and cheap and not necessarily good by any means, but its sufficient and kids like it because its simple and expected. The $5 pop/pizza deal is adequate, but I sprung for the huge pie...which fed all 12 attendees just fine, with a bit leftover. But, you can bet I won't be back to Bacci. I'm too thirsty to deal with them and their ridiculous anti-hydration policies.

Eh. It was pizza-like-ish, the thin crust with pepperoni. We were so hungry on our first night at the new place, didn't know what was around, ordered from here through GrubHub. It was lacking in a lot of things, this pizza, but it was food. The next day the hubs ordered a meatball sub by calling the number on the menu (not sure if it was the same location that delivered). I don't know how that was. But later in the day I ordered a turkey sub and bleech, holy salty. Not a good sandwich. Sure, ordering a turkey sub from a pizza place, not normal, but hey, I was tired and starving and just wanted a sandwich stupid fast. Despite the astoundingly fast delivery, I doubt we'll order from them again. Just eh. Much better food elsewhere.

I order from this place yesterday. We got the sampler platter, which was a huge selection of a lot of their appetizers. It was tasty and enough to share. That was great. Additionally, I ordered a calzone and a panicotti (I think that's how it's spelled). My son said the panicotti was too heavy on the sauce and too light on the cheese. That's not a major issue -- he ate every bite of it. The reason this restaurant has forever lost my business is because when I went to cut into my calzone, there was a significant amount of plastic wrap baked into the bread. I am totally disgusted.

I lived right across the street from this place for a year. As someone else said, it's a great spot to grab a slice when you don't feel like cooking. 5 bucks gets you a massive slice and a drink. It's not the best pizza in the universe, but it's pretty dang good. If you're in the area, give it a try.

Pizza was solid, I guess a step above your Pizza Huts and Dominos. I actually enjoyed the vegetarian pizza over my sausage pizza because there was a little more sauce in it. I think what I enjoyed most was the novelty of eating a behemoth sized pizza. BTW, the winner of this year's pizza eating contest entered the day of the contest with 3 jumbo slices to qualify. Keep in mind, most of the contestants qualified a week or two before. An hour later, he ate 5 more to win! I couldn't even finish one slice.

The only reason I give it a 4 is because they're fries, I just hate fries that still have skins on them! BLECH! Otherwise? This place is great, I haven't had one thing from here that I didn't like. My favorites are the Bacci Burger and the Cheesy Beef. They're flavorful, deliver on time and are pretty nice. Sometimes though, one of the girls who answers the phone is a bit..slow..and gets confused a lot while taking your order or tell you that they don't have that certain item, when they do. If you get that girl, just say "yes you do, I ordered it last week, and it's on your menu" she'll then go "oh..ok..hold on" and then when she comes back, she confirms they do have the item. They even brought back soft serve ice cream, which was pretty tasty. I also must say their prices are decent and they're rather friendly.

I love their pizza it's sooo good!! I get my pizza delivery the delivery person is always on time and very polite. The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because sometimes they forget to put my garlic crust on my pizza. When I do go pick up my pizza the restaurant is always clean and I always find parking in front of the restaurant and their customer service is great and customer service is very very important to me. The kitchen just need to pay more attention to the cook order sheet to make sure the customer is getting everything that they request on their pizza. Other then that I would highly recommend giving Bacci pizzeria a try.

  • Shawn H.

I don't think it's possible to make worse pizza if you tried than Bacci does at their best. Sure, you get a huge slice, but it is near inedible. If I put a little cheese and black pepper on it, the cardboard box would taste the same. I will never go back to this place, despite it being 2 blocks from me.

  • Cory W.

I would probably give 4 stars for the food on it's own, although admittedly I've only ever had the pizza, appetizers, and the occasional calzone. The delivery and ordering process should be easy since I always use the web site, but I've had a couple errors recently. The wrong pizza was delivered once (still good, just not what I ordered). The second time, they again had the wrong pizza when they called to tell me my order was ready for pick up (was ordered as delivery), and the order took almost 2 hours to get to me. All in all, good pizza and a decent price, but needs a little more effort at customer service.

Oh Bacci's, why do you do this to me??? I have been to the Bacci's on Montrose and Milwuakee and it is amazing. Since this one is closer to me we decided to go here. I was utterly disappointed. I was upset because I had been looking forward to the pizza and what we had fell below the bar. There were hardly any toppings on the pizza, (its ok I can get past that) but what really was horrid was the lack of sauce. My hubby had warned me but I thought there is no way you can go to the same restaurant at a different location and not have the same food. Next time I will listen to the hubby. :(

Big slice that really equal to 2 slices, plus a free small drink for $5. Good deal and service was good.

I lived across from this place for over five years. I moved with them when they went into their new building (kitty-corner from the old one), and through numerous counter staff. I will say that the food quality degraded when they went from the old place to the new, but I figure wait a few more years and the ovens will have seasoned up a bit more. Still, I do miss living across the street, as they were the perfect "I do NOT feel like cooking!" spot. Their chicken-chopped salads (no pasta, no croutons!) are amazing. You get a ton of ingredients and more than enough for a second meal. I also really like the panini's and ciabatta sandwiches they added to the menu a few years ago. My guys in the back have a heavy hand with the cheese - just like I like it. Their Italian ice and gelato are also incredibly reasonably priced (for the area) and super, super good. Theirs was the first watermelon Italian ice I've ever had, and remains my favorite. Seriously, though, this place is very much the neighborhood hangout, and while you may hate yourself for finishing that slice of pizza, you'll definitely be back for more.

HUGEE SLICES! The pizza is that 'old fashioned' flavor that you taste when you think pizza. Reasonably priced, and good for families that want left overs. (yes, I ate my slice in one sitting!) This place is great to go if you are from out of town, I recommend. The only downside was the interior looked dirty and the ladies restroom was gross. More cleaning and this place would be an A+. I do recommend.

1st Delivery guy yells at my window instead of ringing my doorbell 2nd My Hot Parmesan Fries were missing 3rd Driver offers me his personal pizza instead 4th Driver returns with fries 5th I open fries to find that they aren't the fries i ordered 6th I call back and request that something be done about the hour and half that we waited for an incomplete order 7th They offer me a $4 discount 8th I write a terrible yelp review (cause the pizza wasn't that good either) 9th we never order again Don't do it...there are hundreds of choices. Order from one that gives cares.

Yummy! Bacci pizza helped me gain back my appetite when I was feeling icky and didn't even want to eat. But when I saw that pizza... I knew I must devour it! I really do not know how people can eat an entire slice of pizza. My boyfriend and I had to split a piece and I still didn't finish my half. The girl at the register was even nice enough to cut it in half for us. And I did not have a problem with getting a glass for water as mentioned in a previous post. She just gave me the same glass as my boyfriend got for his soda. Quick friendly service providing savory pizza for less than $5 for two people... I'll be back Bacci's!

I love Bacci -- it's my favorite pizza in Chicago hands down. Free Pop is awesome too. They must have just gotten off-street parking for customers too. If you are a vegaterian -- I'd recommend getting the Bacci special WITHOUT meat -- very good.

Whenever I walk by this place, I feel like there is a very sketchy element to it. I don't know if it's the people that hang out there or what. The first time I ate here, it was late and I was very desperate. I got a polish sausage that wanted to make me very sick before my first day of work (how bad would that have been?). Basically, as I was falling asleep, I'd periodically wake up with an intense cramping feeling in my stomach. Then I'd lie there in pain and it would eventually go away. This repeated itself maybe about 4 times. Not pleasant. Luckily I've eaten a lot of sketchy street food in a lot of sketchy countries, so my stomach was able to put up a good fight and win. The second time I ate here, my experience was a little better. Why on earth would I have eaten here a second time? It's close and I was hardcore pmsing to the extent that I wanted something like "pizza fries" for dinner and that I didn't want to go far to get them. I didn't know exactly what I expected pizza fries to be like, but I hoped that they'd be good. They were pretty mediocre. The sauce and cheese really didn't work with the fries, even though I really wanted it to. Plus, I strongly lamented the lack of greasy meat on it (remember, pms). It was pretty eh, but at least no stomach cramping later on. At the very least, it satisfied my craving for grease that night.

I used to go to bacci's all the time back when the one on Archer was still open. Tried this bacci's today not as great as my old one but pretty decent, a little dry but soda and pizza for 5 bucks well worth it. I love over-sized pizza! I'm not sure when Ill hit this place up again but if I'm in the neighborhood and have 5 bucks I probably will think about doing so.

This place will offer you a HUGE slice of pizza in the cool box, it's the way to go. pick your slice and enjoy. the taste is great, the location is kinda cool, also close to downtown Chicago. This pizza is like a craving that comes and goes. Good Stuff.

I think it's average at best for Chicago Pizza. Let me be clear. I grew up with superb pizza in the South Suburbs, and my family owns a pizzeria. The portions are huge, and the prices are great. The meatball sub was really quite good. The pizza was meh... It's nice to have it so close to work in the IMD, and I love the outside seating in the spring/summer.

I don't think that their pizza or other food is delicious, it's just OK. I like DiGiorno pizza better but for the price their pizza is decent.

I liked you in the old building, but the new building is going to have you set up on Taylor street just as well as the old one did, with any luck. Believe it or not, I've never actually had the pizza here. Looks like fun if you're in one of those competitive eating contests or if you're twelve, but as I am neither I can't quite take the plunge. You'll break me down one of these days though when I'm hungry and I want to sit out on that upper patio and listen to the ballgame. You're enough of an old school throwback (but in a shiny new suit) that your grill guy will still throw me down a pepper-n-egg sandwich with a side of giardinara. Thanks for not selling out the neighborhood. Seriously. We appreciate you.

I generally never write reviews, but this last experience really left a bad taste in my mouth. Generally the pizza is good, however their cooks have a hard time reading the orders as by the repeated mistakes. My wife is vegetarian and doesn't eat meat. We ordered a pizza with pepperoni and sausage on only half the pizza. The first time could have been an honest mistake. So we just took the pizza. The second time, the manager on staff states that pepperoni was not meat and that there was nothing wrong despite what was written on the receipt itself. I chalked that up to maybe the owner not being in at that time and give Bacci another break. However, this third time, we checked with the driver prior to paying him. He does the honorable thing and calls the office saying that the order was wrong as written on the receipt. Some lady calls back saying mistakes can be made. They offer to replace the pizza and wait another hour to come. I say that is the best you can do, but she replies, "What more do you expect?" I figure that we've been a pretty loyal customer until now as well as pretty patient with all their mistakes, but honestly, this was the last straw. As a business owner myself, I can understand that mistakes can happen, but repeated mistakes and half-hearted responses Bacci has lost my business with them. That being said, if you eat in at the place, this is still some good grub, but be wary when placing phone or online orders as the employees don't understand what "half" means. For a place that charges $30-40 for a loaded pizza, their customer service must be at a higher standard.

Cheap, alright food. The pizza is usually tasty enough and with pieces the size of your head you can't go wrong. I've ordered cheese-less pizza (Vegan friends can be a pain) and it wasn't as good but better than I expected. Most of the people who work there are pretty nice and you only have to interact with them for about 10 secs so it is never a big deal. I've had their chicken fingers before as well and they were crispy and good. I think the best thing they serve there is something you might not usually get but if you can do it. The brownies and the cookies are gooey (the way I like it) and sinfully chocolaty so if you're going to eat pizza anyway just break down and get a treat. Overall it's good for the price and if you like fast food it's a good spot.

I love Bacci's but this weekend they made me sad. My husband placed an order online which was to have been delivered in an hour. Two hours later we called and were told they just received our order because the printer was out of paper. 45 minutes later we finally got our pizza. No apology or added goodie to the order. What a bummer. I'll still go but I'll stick to pick up!

I've explored the menu and the only thing that is decent is the pizza slices. The burgers are disgusting. The fries used to be bad but it improved. I would stick with the jumbo slices and you won't be disappointed.

  • Andy C.

It's perfectly adequate for what it is. Portion sizes are huge, service is relatively fast, and at 5$ for a slice and a soda, pricing is reasonable (4.50 if you have a student ID). Their new location is comfortable, but it sort of lost some of that old ambiance. Not really a complaint - just an observation.

the pizza here is just alright.. they aint great and they aint bad.. but for a big slice of pizza with free pop for 5 dollars, you cant beat it. i will come back here again if i just need a quik pizza fix.. other then that i would much rather have deep dish pizza from pequods or something.

It used to be for the community, I can always count on them when I need help, like if I locked myself out, need to make a call or need to borrow a couple of bucks from the employees. But a couple of months ago, employees changed in the restaurant, food changed also. I locked myself out on a freezing rainy day before going to work. I waived and knocked on the door several times. They saw me, waived hands first to show that they are not open, I tried to tell them I'm here not for food, but for a little help, surprisingly they buried their head totally ignored me from then on, during which time I continued knocking the door so hard and loud for 10 minutes and was so surprised at how calm they maintained themselves. A normal person would already know something was wrong and at least came check it out. The only thing that can make them come to the door is if I started to burn this place down. This lack of sense of responsibility is bad for both the community and the restaurant. But who is responsible after all? Most likely the owner.

I live literally across the street from Bacci, and have found this to be both a wonderful and oh-so-terrible thing. Five dollar slices as big as your head make for a deliciously unhealthy convenience food! As previously mentioned, their pizza is enormous --definitely the largest slice I've ever eaten. It is usually very tasty, but I've been oddly disappointed more than once. But you really can't beat the price - 5 bucks for the slice and a small soda (refillable if dining in). The staff at this location is very friendly and usually give me a piece from the new pie, rather than the old one that's been sitting out. Bonus points for lots of seating, but negative points for the playlist of five Sinatra songs on repeat.

Excellent for bribing friends who just helped you move in. After that fun experience, my wife and I bought a bunch of different kinds of $5 pizza slices as big as your head and we feasted. Focus here is on cheese and ingredients as delivering the flavor, not the sauce (pretty tame), crust, or spices. Their gelato is pretty good, though more like ice cream. Also, some people might like it that they have free wi-fi. Safety is not a concern when you go here. Meaning that every time I go, the place is filled with cops, EMTs, and firemen, all with large waists and satisfied looks on their faces. So you won't be catching on fire or getting mugged while you're there.

My first apartment was across the street from Bacci's and at that time it was $2 for a slice and a soda. For the first two months, I must have eaten there twice a week. Now (10 years later) it's more then doubled in price to $5, and nothing's changed. The pizza wasn't the greatest to begin with, and now that it's $5, I think my Bacci eating days are over. For nostalgia's sake though, I recently decided to do a taste comparison with the local pizzerias. The pizza does have an interesting crust. I describe it as a potato crust, and I do really like it. The cheese however seems very artificial. Even fresh out of the oven the cheese layer is thick and rubbery. That's a big turn off. The thing that bothers me the most, and I know many places do it; if you order a slice of pepperoni, 19 out of 20 times they will grab a slice of cheese, layer on the pepperoni, and dump it back in the oven for a bit. This makes the crust nice and crispy, but since the cheese is on the rubbery side, it doesn't do much to fix the pepperoni to the slice. Now the sandwiches are pretty decent too. I love the cheesy beef on garlic bread with hot peppers. I still think it's over priced though. Feels like they passed the price of the new building and some legal fees on to the customers, and that's just not right. I also think there are much better places to eat in the neighboorhood.

  • Benjamin R.

An enormous slice of pizza plus a drink for $5? That's a deal. If you're interested in trying Bacci, I'd recommend this location over the ones in Wrigleyville or Old Town; this is the nicest one I've been to, and certainly the most spacious. And the pizza's just as good.

I have the honor of living across the street from this magical place. The pizza and pop for a five spot is remarkable. Imagine a pizza slice the length of your arm and as big as your head... Yea.... everything else i've had there is a 10 out of 10 too. GO TO BACCI's if you have an opportunity. Seriously.

  • Taylor H.

Seriously, I love Bacci Pizza but this is beyond ridiculous. I got a gift card for Christmas and it can only be used in person, not for delivery. So for this same delivery order where my gift card was rejected, they decide to only deliver 2/5ths of my order. When my pizza was delivered, it was cold which clearly shows I was last on the delivery run and the total cost for my delivery was just over $40. It should also be noted that I order at least 3x per month and tip the drivers at least $4 cash per order (which the total normally falls between $18-25). For the Taylor St Bacci Pizza to claim they were the first Bacci Pizza, they suck with customer service. They never credit customers for their mess ups and when they mess up, they refuse to admit their mess ups. Also, if you get delivery and use the coupon on their menu sheet, never give it to the driver as instructed by the girl who takes your order on the phone. The driver doesn't care and just keep the coupon for future reference.

Got delivery for a dozen people, ended up being very cheap on a per-person basis. Delivery was quick and the pizzas were giant. Not the best pizza I've had, but who really cares when you're craving drunk food?

Um, fuck. Duh? Five stars for any pizzeria that instantly coughs up a man-sized slice and a soda for 5 bucks! Don't be a poof and analyze the pie. You get everything you need (and deserve) for the price and time commitment. Yes. The pizza's too doughy. Agreed. The CPD tactical officers take up a bunch of tables on the weekends. Sure. The kids working there will make "rape eyes" at your girlfriends/wives. But what can we expect for a five dollar meal? Surrender to Bacci; Frank Bruni you ain't. Story time: "Alberto," a Taylor Street lifer I unfortunately made the acquaintance of, used to rave about a redheaded prostitute who purportedly lived on the same block as this Bacci's during the late 90s. Alberto says she's actually a "very nice girl in spite of things" and "would be about 31 or 32 years old right now, the right age to start a family." Because, you know, when a guy wants to settle down, he chooses his buddy's favorite prostitute from the old days. Thanks Alberto.

I used to work on Taylor, and I would occasionally drop by here for lunch. The pizza is all right, although I wouldn't say it's anything particularly special. As a part of Little Italy, I would think it'd be better, but it's passable if you're looking for a quick, cheap lunch.

I have been ordering take out from Bacci for years. I've tried most of the menu. The pizza is very good. Be sure to get the garlic crust. They have a delicious Cheezy Beef sandwich. The french fries are very delcious and have some garlic salt on them to bring out the flavor. I was very impressed with their Panzerotti and Calzones. They are amazoing.

Yeh so what's it mean when the price is reasonable? It means that it's what you pay for. You're not getting a deal or something that's uber awesome. You get what you get. The pizza here was ok, i probably wont order from this place again. The cheese, toppings and crust were just blah. Nothing special, nothing to look forward to. The other items on the menu may be better but I'll never know.

I'd definitely order from here again. We got take out through grubhub. All the guys in the office knew the pizza when I told them where I was ordering from, so we got them one and it sounded great. I got the MEAT RAVIOLI w MEAT SAUCE. The portion was actually perfect, but then came in a huge container with enough meat sauce for another whole plate of ravioli. It was so good I felt bad throwing it away. My co-worker got the CHICKEN PASTA ALFREDO and added broccoli. It smelled really good and was enough for 3, maybe 4 meals. She ate it for two days and still threw out a good portion of it. The BREAD that came with my pasta was really yummy. SIDE SALADS come with all the meals, which was really nice for the price.

I don't care what kind of scum go into Bacci or the likes of the ppl. hanging out outside of it.........I don't care! I used to get Bacci on quite the regular when I used to go to UIC. and I am still a huge fan. I had some a few nights ago, and I'd forgotten how yummy it is! Maybe ppl think because this pizza is sooo cheap and quick and in the hood that it wouldn't be good, but I think it is delicious!!! check it out.....huge slice + a pop for very little!

One of Bacci's five Chicagoland locations, this one on Taylor Street caters to the university and health care crowd around the west-side medical district. There is also the usual smattering of Chicago's finest - which is worth another star right there! Freshly prepared food at very reasonable prices, this place hops at lunchtime! There's not a lot of dining space to plan on ordering "to go."

  • Bri M.

So rude here! I ordered delivery and they got the order wrong. So I called back to let them know and see if they would give me a credit. The girl who answered the phone told me she wasn't the one who took my order so she couldnt "do nothin' about it." Really? I asked for the guy who took the order, who she said was the manager, and she told me he wasn't there, put me on hold, came back after about thirty seconds and told me the manager had said he couldn't "do nothin' about it." In this day in age and in the world of a thousand pizzerias, I will take my money to a place that cares to delivering the actual food people order. ANd if you can't tell from the pictures, all the food is greasy and soggy.

My OMFG review wasn't good enough so........ You get the hugest slice of pizza in the world for $5 with a drink. Superb. I hope this is a decent enough review, yelp. Seriously this place is very cheap and good after say a concert and you are tired and don't want to wait for food to be cooked at a sit down. So filling.

I've reviewed the other Bacci's on diversey, so see that review, for a bit more in depth examination of the taste. Same gargantuan slice, and perhaps the greatest value proposition for lunch in the area. This location is brand shiney and new, the service is nice and fast, and those slice boxes are perfect for those on the go.

Listen this pizza is the general, run-of-the-mill greasy pizza shop. I love this place because the pizza is larger than my torso. They have a box shaped just for this torso pizza slice. You get more pizza than imagine for hardly any money. They give you a pop with your pizza! Now that is service! They also have a variety of other food, although I have never eaten anything else, nor have I seen anyone eating any other kind. This particular location has moved across the street in a bigger, better place. The new store is very clean and charming.

My options for delivery where I work are limited to pizza and chinese. I used to be able to get shrimp from Western Ave Shrimp House, but alas, they fired the delivery guy. I've eaten pizza from every joint in the neighborhood that delivers it and Bacci is the current pizza of choice. The pizza is okay, nothing spectacular. My top non-pizza pick: Steak Sandwich - Fresh, chewy bread, pounded steak, grilled onions, tomato, mayo and oil. Other plusses: cheap, NO delivery minimum. Minusses: If having it delivered, make sure to check the order. They consistently forget something (hence three stars.) Not very hot when it arrives, even though we're only a half mile away. EDIT: had to remove the polite phone service line because the woman who took our order today was very abrupt and when we asked about the free wings with our order, she told us it was too late and she'd already rung up the order on the card. She said that she'd remind us next time. What?

Are you interested in buying a piece of pizza bigger than your head with mere pennies? This is the place to do it! Thin, greasy, huge piece pizza (1 lb. each) with a big pop is exactly what you are gonna get here. No thrills (besides some parmesan and pepper flakes to add). But good. They also have a contest once a year to see who can eat the most pizza and you can try to qualify at all their locations.

Mediocre pizza. I live nearby, and host travelers from all over the country and the world. Not one of them has been impressed with this pizza. It's really best for late night, post bar desperation when you don't care what it tastes like.

i love this place for many reasons... cheap pizza & free pop, the fact that they show trash-talk shows on the TV (i have no shame, sign me up for some maury povich & pizza on my lunch break!), cheap specials if you don't want pizza... all the makings of a great lunch stop.

During my college days, I lived at Bacci's! Now that I have graduated, I live next to it! haha Anyways, this place is awesome. Ginormous slices with a soda for a five spot or any number of sandwich/entree items for under $10. The staff are all friendly and willing to help you in any way! I would definately recommend this place to EVERYONE!

the slices of pizza are huge and pretty cheap. They aren't the best pizza ever but for the price it is great.

  • Sara K.

I haven't been able to try anything else here besides the big pizza slices. I'm a student so I get the slight discount. Is it just me, or is this place cheaper than the Bacci in Wrigleyville? I thought I had to pay $5 there and only $3 at this place for the pizza and pop. I would gladly go out of my way to fill up for the rest of the day. Yeah, I can eat a whole slice in one sitting. :P

Probably Chicago's safest pizzeria, based on the preponderance of the blue and white outside on any given day. The pizza slices here are ENORMOUS. Not "New York style" (notice how Manhattanites claim New York is only the island until one of the other boroughs has something good?) because this HUGE pizza slice isn't floppy and soggy. It's good thin crust for Chicago. It's cheap and fast and pretty darn tasty. Besides pizza they have various other typical greasy spoon offerings.

So Good! If you are out drinking and are craving pizza this place offers the jumbo slice with a free drink to go with it! What gets better than that! If your with friends and want to order a pizza their large pizza is more than enough for a group of people and it is fairly reasonable.

I used to be a regular here when my boyfriend lived above this place. Their Eggplant Parmesan is UNBELIEVABLE!!! Stay away from this place if you happen to be on a diet!

Bacci is awesome!!!! They have generously donated pizza for several children's events at the branches of the Chicago Public Library that I have managed! THANKS, BACCI PIZZERIA!!!

It's cheap take-out Italian food. Nothing special, but I do indulge in it every so often. I'm a fan of the Rigatoni with Creamy Red Vodka Sauce. It's a HUGE portion, enough to feed 2 people for at least 2 meals and it costs $9. I've also gotten the Diavolo Pizza and the Bacci Lady Pizza (which is their tasty version of a chicken/bacon/ranch pizza). Both were good and I would get them again for a late-night, lazy dinner option.

Have been going in for years, and stop by few days ago to find out no longer free drinks! Even if it was just the generic soda it was still a good deal! You guys also only gave me 2 ketchups for a regular order! Other then it was an okay service.

    (3)
  • Lin H.

Didn't get to eat any pizza, but I am in love with the Italian ice deal! Seriously ended up with over a pint of Italian ice for only $2. It was a sweet treat on a hot day, and then a tasty dessert later in the day! Ha!

Well. It's been over a year and it'll probably be another until I'm foolish enough to return here again. The pizza although decent in quality is just not good enough to put up with the shitty people who work here. The other menu items (as mentioned in other reviews) are to be stayed away from. Burgers are frozen and nobody knows how to cook pasta without making it mush. I get it, this place caters to college kids as you get a lot of food for a reasonable price. What I don't get is the people who you guys hire to work here. Why is it so hard not to smoke near the doors of an establishment, especially when you work there!!! Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Nobody wants to smell this crap, it's disgusting. You shouldnt be allowed to smoke during work hours when you work in food service because the smell sticks to you. Again, just disgusting. Cashiers are still too busy gossiping and ignoring customers. Have a question about a menu item? Too bad, nobody actually knows what's in the food they serve. So the prices went up, quality went down and I'm never going back.

  • Alex D.

Huge slices, fair prices, open late, less than three blocks from my house. For a broke grad student that means this place makes me pretty happy on the regular. Only way they could be better is to add more vegetarian-friendly pizza options but when I'm hankering for pizza I'll take what I can get. Haven't had much besides pizza but I imagine the other offerings are on par; the mango Italian ice is especially delicious.

    (4)
  • Olivia H.

This place has MASSIVE slices of pizza. For about $5-6, these slices certainly are not mind-blowing in quality, but noteworthy in quantity. If you're starving and looking for a snack, you may want to consider splitting a slice. But they will heat it up and cut into smaller pieces for you, making it easy to scarf down on the go.

I'm bewildered as to how a place can do so many things so poorly. I'm serious, we've started ordering different things to see if there is anything good here. Burgers, nope. weird small frozen patty. sandwiches and salads, nope. The fettuccine alfredo wasn't bad, but not good either. The pizza isn't great, but is a great value. desserts are good. The fries, however, are terrible, both types. i've tried a couple of varieties and i hope someone affiliated with the place sees this: PLEASE FOR BABY JESUS SAKE PLEASE COOK YOUR FRIES! I've never seen fries so white and limpy and undercooked anywhere. not a single crispy one in the batch. I keep ordering them thinking that they are a fluke, maybe the cook was off that day, but nope. Parmesan and pizza fries, which should be great concepts, ruined by potato mush. Oh and they use this neon pink bbq sauce that ive seen in other places and dont necessarily dislike, but it doesn't go well with the food here.

If you're a UIC student, you can't walk here. Must drive, it's a far walk. It's $32 for a 30" pizza. But if you order online, you can get it for $28.75. It's enough to feed 6 people! Takes 30 minutes to make. The pizza was so huge, we had a hard time fitting it in the car. You're paying about $5 per person for a pizza that tastes descent and it's kinda neat seeing such a huge piza. Here is something to think about though, you can get two Large 14" Pizza from Pizza hut that's about 5 minutes away and pay $18. So Bacci's is a little pricey, but it tastes way better than Taylor Made Pizza.

Tried their pizza slice last week, I found $6 for a slice to be expensive which did not include a pop.

    (2)
  • Mike K.

Let me start by saying that I began going to Bacci's in 1995 when it was in it's original location. Back then you'd still get a giant slice, difference was it was $2.50 and came with a soda. Ahh, the good old days. Fast forward 20 years, you still get a giant slice, prices have gone up, still a bargain, but WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FREE SODA?! Now, I know, it used to be generic soda, small and in a foam cup, probably pennies to fill, but it was so cool that it was included. I've since moved from the area, but this must have changed just recently, because I go in a few days ago and order a slice. Then I'm standing there waiting for the girl to hand me a cup. Nothing. I didn't ask, because I just figured they no longer do it, but c'mon, really? Anyhow, what hasn't changed is the pizza. I LOVE, let me repeat, LOVE THESE SLICES. We used to order full pizzas with giardiniera peppers, also awesome. Here's the point of this review, Bacci's pizza is the type of pizza that I could eat everyday, so it's worth a visit, it most likely won't be your last. If it's not for you that's fine, more for me. I haven't tried the other items there because why? PIZZA!!! Now, seriously Bacci's hook it up with the soda like the good old days. I'm just sayin'

    (4)
  • Magali F.

Everyone should try the hot Parmesan fries! They had just the right amount of Parmesan cheese and hot giardinera :)

    (5)
  • Marisol R.

Pizza slice and drink are cheap and pretty good if you're looking for something quick to eat. As big as those pizzas are you can get them cut up into smaller pieces to make it easier to eat. The last time I was here I was just a little disappointed because the cashier was busy having a conversation with a customer for 10 minutes disregarding my in the background.

    (3)
  • Mark M.

The blandest pizza and food I have ever had in a pizza place. I've tried it here at least 4 times because that large slice does look appetizing, but every time it tastes like cardboard. Also, pizza slice price is too high partly because they force to buy the slice with a small cup of pop from the fountain. Although, I've just read a recent review saying that they don't even give you that pop anymore. I could remember at least one of those 4 visits where the people behind the counter were a little cocky. The inside is nice and modern and they have a small outdoor area to eat along Taylor Street. That's where I will give them an extra star.

    (2)
  • Jennifer P.

Oh Bacci . . . I give you chance after chance and still you break my heart. There is one particular employee, who I won't give identifying details about ( out of the sheer kindness of my heart), that really needs to seek employment in a sector outside of the service industry. This is now the second time I have had to deal with this eye-rolling, condescending girl, who in the last two visits has managed to mess up my order both times-- and then give me attitude, as if I am an inconvenience to her. At one point I wanted to point out to her that -- being a cashier at Bacci is her job, a job that she is paid for, that she filled out an application for and chose. She is not doing me any special favor by taking my order (incorrectly- I may add). Bacci's pizza is what it is-- nothing fabulous but, edible. What has really turned me off is one staff member in particular and her ambivalence. Please Bacci managers-- it is time for a real evaluation of your staff because some of them are losing you business and money ----and no paying customer deserves the treatment that I received during my last visit.

  • Damian P.

I am floored! I have of course had their pizza in the past, but I quickly forgot how good it really is. From the buttery crust to the actual pizza ingredients. The manager was kind enough to give me the student discount that was made for a Monday (I came in on a Tuesday), but here I was thinking it was Monday. When I pulled out my school ID the girl said; "I'm sorry that was yesterday" but the Manager heard her and said, "No you can give it to him, he thought it was Monday," I thought this was really thoughtful of him and made the experience even better. It just goes to show that not all places are trying to make a fast buck, they actually have a really good product and are kind at the same time. I can appreciate this for sure. Their slices "use" to fit the box but this time (as we took ours to go), we noticed that the slices were actually just a tad smaller, since it now slides a little bit in the box. Not a big deal because again the slices are giant anyways and you will defintely be filled up with just one, and for under $6 you also get a fountain drink? NICE!

    (4)
  • Harold B.

These jumbo slices are the real deal! And cheap too! One would be hard pressed yo gind something wrong with the deal beong just $5.

    (4)
  • Kamilah S.

They serve the biggest pizza slices I've seen, well, besides De Arcos on 63rd street. I came here for lunch. I ordered a slice of supreme pizza (it had tons of meat and cheese and vegetables), a 20 oz pop and a small fry, I believe my total came to about $9 and some change, not bad considering I ate the pizza for 2 days. The pizza was very tasty.

    (5)
  • Josh A.

You just cannot beat their pizza and pop special. It is a legit huge piece of pizza, about the size of the tray, for only 5 bucks. I love the pizza too, great variety. They also have very good greasy burgers and fries. Gelato is delish in the summer too.

    (4)
  • Philip T.

I love Bacci pizza. This location is very clean and nice. I order from here on GrubHub sometimes and they are always quick and get my orders right.

The pizza is alright. Good choice for a late night delivery or stop in before a night out to the bars or after. However, I love their loaded fries with cheese, onions, and bacon topped with ranch dressing. Definitely a fav and repeat order. Their wings are pretty good too.

Foot long pizza slices that are almost as wide as they are long...now that's big! Veggie for about $6 tax and total. Wish I could have found a knife so sharing it would have been easier. Big enough for two, the hubs and I split it and it was plenty. They sell em by the pie too, the whole pizzas would make for an awesome sports party pizza. Good crust, good flavor, healthy dose of cheese. We enjoyed it outside on their very small wrap around patio area complete with a few tables. I love casual patios because we can walk the dogs and stop at a dining destination along the way. Got a soft serve cone to complete the meal, it was free with my checkin but would cost $1 otherwise. I wouldn't pay a dollar for after experiencing it because it was the iciest soft serve ever, thats a no go. Not only that but it was soft so it couldn't be topped very high. Melted like crazy. If you like your soft serve icy, get it in a cup...you'll get more. They did have gelato which I would guess is much better than the machine dispensed slush. Pizza, YEA. Ice cream, NAY...never thought I'd hear myself say that!

This place is good for large and inexpensive pizzas . I guess they make the largest pizzas around here. And very cheap. Just sometimes they burn the crust which spoils your mood.

Good Non-deep dish pizza. Giant slices that can probably feed two and a free small soda (pop) for $7 not too shabby. Open late!

  • Jay D.

I ordered online and it was pretty quick, that's about the best thing about this review. I had the Italian beef dipped and the meat was still dry and kind of hard, lacked much flavor. The pizza fries were meh, I could've done without them. The cheese hardened up pretty quickly and the fries were all stuck together in one block. Maybe I'll try the pizza next time.

    (2)
  • Cesar R.

If you are hungry, you can't have a simple slice, this place offers good pizza and big slices. Varied menu too not just pizza. And good Italian ice for the end of the meal. The staff was pleasant. Lots of seating available in a spacious room with TVs. + a game room

    (4)
  • Chuck N.

A perfectly fine lunch option. Giant slices of pizza which taste OK, but it's thick and resists attempts to fold.

    (3)
  • M C.

Pizza: thin, so so sauce, it's a little soggy. Everything on the menu is greasy and extremely salty. There's much better food up an down Taylor. Been here about five times for lunch, never left feeling good...

  • Siddharth S.

I love the huge slice if pizza. It is sufficient for dinner. The taste varies though. Sometimes its amazing sometimes its not so good. I guess it depends on what time you visit. I would suggest visiting this place before 9pm. That's when I usually got the better tasting pizza.

    (3)
  • Theresa V.

Your go to place when drunk; tastes delicious! However, having the pizza sober is a different story. Yes the slices are gigantic and Yes they are $5 a slice...but if you are here visiting the city, don't bother. Go somewhere that is worth it

    (3)
  • William W.

You can't beat the price for a HUGE slice of pizza and a pop! New building is clean and has plenty of seating...I will definitely be coming back!

Ordered one salad. Took exactly one hour. I'm not insanely far from them. First I time I called the guy that answered was very polite and told me 45-1 hr. And said closer to 45 mins. Then once the one hour mark hit. I called to check how much longer. The guy or girl who answered with their very "I don't wanna be here tone" said it's out it's already out the drivers on his way And I said I'm just calling to see how much longer and so she's like I'm gonna call the driver she/he does so and says he's pulling up and he was. Driver was walking towards the wrong house I had to flag him down. Salad was very big. Good size. Good price. Delicious. I'll try once more with actual pizza. But I'm sure from the "43 non recommended reviews" I won't be pleased.

  • A M.

You definitely get a lot of food for your money. They really are the home of the jumbo slice, but it's not the best pizza. It's not bad but not great. The one thing that bugs me about this location is the counter girls. They act as if taking customers orders is a burden. The first time I came in I thought maybe they are having a bad day, but they are like that every time I come in. I do believe the owner should have a talk with them.

  • Adri B.

I'm terribly concerned that I've never seen the cheese from Bacci Pizzeria actually melt. The first time I had it, I took it to go and tried heating it in the oven for a good 30 minutes or so (and I live a block away so shouldn't have had to heat it at all), but the CHEESE NEVER MELTED! The pizza always looks like you just took it out of the refrigerator- even when they set down fresh pizzas straight out of the oven! It's also $5 for a sub-par slice of pizza. I've eaten it here and there, but only grudgingly and out of total desperation b/c they're open late and on weekends. HOWEVER, if there's ANYTHING else around that you wouldn't mind eating, I'd suggest you go for that instead.

I was treated to this ginormous pizza at work today. It was the 30'' jumbo pizza with a stuffed cheesy crust. It was too huge, almost impossible for one person to carry. The size caught my eye but I was hesitant to try the pizza. I normally hate pizza. However, Bacci Pizzeria was really good. It wasnt oily or greasy. The stuffed crust was really good- gooey and cheesy. The tomato sauce on the pizza was perfect- not too sweet or generic. Had a really great taste. Everything was perfect The only thing is that because the pizza is so large, toppings are expensive (totally understandable). The pizza says it feeds 8-10 people but I think that it can feed double that (unless you have a bunch of starving people). Definitely try to get it for a party. Its a conversation piece and I can say hands down, one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted

I ordered over $60 worth of food for delivery (with a $10 tip ready to go). Husband calls and orders it on his way home because he's dying for pizza and wings and I'm just happy not to cook. Driver calls an hour later to say he's here so I tell him I'll buzz him up - its number 3. He says, "No, I can't come up - I'm not allowed to leave my car and I have another delivery that's late." Seriously? So, I'm supposed to find my keys, put on shoes, walk downstairs and meet him at the car? If I wanted to do that I would have ordered carry-out and saved myself the delivery fee. And being 6 months pregnant the last thing I felt like doing was walking back up three flights with a large order of food. That's why I was willing to spend $75 bucks on crappy pizza. So I play the pregnancy card and tell him he has to come up - if Papa John's does it, he can do it. That's when he says he's still at the restaurant and will call me again when he is here. Uh, ok? Five minutes later the restaurant calls and says the driver is at my door but he's not allowed to leave his car unattended. They do realize this is Chicago, right? I told them to cancel my order. I ordered Chinese food instead from Hana for half the cost and guess what? The driver came right on up and got a $10 tip for his "trouble".

Don't get the lasagna. Noodles, sauce and cheese, but no flavor. Just a mess. This place has the worst Italian food i have ever eaten. I have no idea how they stay in business.

My first night in Chicago, I ordered delivery from Bacci. Their stuffed pizza was amazing (and stands up well to reheating, which is important for me since I never finish a pizza in one sitting) but even more impressive were the Nutella bites - a bit bigger than they sound and absolutely AMAZING.

  • Kathy S.

When the bf told me that there was a place that had pizza slices so big that I wouldn't be able to finish it, I scoffed at the idea. This is me we're talking about here, affectionately named Kirby for the fact that I like to gobble everything up and also described as the Black Widow (a competitive eating champion) by some of my coworkers. I got pwned by a slice of pizza. But I'm okay with that because if I was going to get my butt kicked by one, I don't mind that it's Bacci's (See uploaded picture...you will see why I respect this pizza monster). $5 is a bargain. You could easily just get one slice and happily share it with someone. This is definitely one of those places I'll be visiting time and time again when I'm craving some good cheap pizza.

Tried their pizza slice last week, I found $6 for a slice to be expensive which did not include a pop.

Everyone should try the hot Parmesan fries! They had just the right amount of Parmesan cheese and hot giardinera :)

The pizza is alright. Good choice for a late night delivery or stop in before a night out to the bars or after. However, I love their loaded fries with cheese, onions, and bacon topped with ranch dressing. Definitely a fav and repeat order. Their wings are pretty good too.

Oh Bacci . .

NICE!

These jumbo slices are the real deal! And cheap too! One would be hard pressed yo gind something wrong with the deal beong just $5.

You just cannot beat their pizza and pop special. It is a legit huge piece of pizza, about the size of the tray, for only 5 bucks. I love the pizza too, great variety. They also have very good greasy burgers and fries. Gelato is delish in the summer too.

Open late!

  • Cesar R.

If you are hungry, you can't have a simple slice, this place offers good pizza and big slices. Varied menu too not just pizza. And good Italian ice for the end of the meal. The staff was pleasant. Lots of seating available in a spacious room with TVs. + a game room

  • Chuck N.

A perfectly fine lunch option. Giant slices of pizza which taste OK, but it's thick and resists attempts to fold.

    (3)

Pizza: thin, so so sauce, it's a little soggy. Everything on the menu is greasy and extremely salty. There's much better food up an down Taylor. Been here about five times for lunch, never left feeling good...

I love the huge slice if pizza. It is sufficient for dinner. The taste varies though. Sometimes its amazing sometimes its not so good. I guess it depends on what time you visit. I would suggest visiting this place before 9pm. That's when I usually got the better tasting pizza.

Your go to place when drunk; tastes delicious! However, having the pizza sober is a different story. Yes the slices are gigantic and Yes they are $5 a slice...but if you are here visiting the city, don't bother. Go somewhere that is worth it

  • Chris D.

Seriously.

    (5)
  • Yusaf S.

I love Bacci -- it's my favorite pizza in Chicago hands down. Free Pop is awesome too. They must have just gotten off-street parking for customers too. If you are a vegaterian -- I'd recommend getting the Bacci special WITHOUT meat -- very good.

  • Darren F.

the pizza here is just alright.. they aint great and they aint bad.. but for a big slice of pizza with free pop for 5 dollars, you cant beat it. i will come back here again if i just need a quik pizza fix.. other then that i would much rather have deep dish pizza from pequods or something.

  • Jaki T.

    (1)
  • Luan N.

    (3)
  • Haris K.

I lived right across the street from this place for a year. As someone else said, it's a great spot to grab a slice when you don't feel like cooking. 5 bucks gets you a massive slice and a drink. It's not the best pizza in the universe, but it's pretty dang good. If you're in the area, give it a try.

    (4)
  • Mariah W.

  • Patrice O.

    (4)
  • Shawn H.

I don't think it's possible to make worse pizza if you tried than Bacci does at their best. Sure, you get a huge slice, but it is near inedible. If I put a little cheese and black pepper on it, the cardboard box would taste the same. I will never go back to this place, despite it being 2 blocks from me.

    (1)

  • Meghan T.

I've explored the menu and the only thing that is decent is the pizza slices. The burgers are disgusting. The fries used to be bad but it improved. I would stick with the jumbo slices and you won't be disappointed.

An enormous slice of pizza plus a drink for $5? That's a deal. If you're interested in trying Bacci, I'd recommend this location over the ones in Wrigleyville or Old Town; this is the nicest one I've been to, and certainly the most spacious. And the pizza's just as good.

Um, fuck.
