Very disappointed! I am truly shocked at the number of positive reviews for this restaurant. The food lacks in flavor and the portions are ridiculously small. The ravioli was mostly pasta (very little filling), pizza was doughy and our caesar salad was swimming in water... the croutons were soaked! Extremely overpriced... will not return!

We enjoyed the atmosphere and our waiter was excellent, but the food was disappointing. We started with a delicious mushroom app and were very optimistic about the entrees. I ordered the limone chicken. It was hard to cut with a knife (I should have been able to use my fork). The chicken was obviously not fresh (frozen) or well cooked... And for 17$ we felt more than taken... Others at the table felt the same about their meals. The place has potential, but needs fresh food and a smaller menu! Piazza Bella in Roscoe Village is similarly priced, but blows Anna's away with food quality and enjoyment. Go there not here!!!

We love Anna Maria Pastaria! I live in the area and my boyfriend and I have eaten here regularly for the past few years. We have never been disappointed with anything we've ordered. Literally. We have enjoyed everything we've ordered from here. There's not many places you can say that about. Additionally, the service is always great, and the place itself is very cute. You should definitely eat here!

Went here for valentines dinner. The food was amazing!! They could work on the time of service a little and perhaps up their wine menu selection. Loved the ambiance and atmosphere.

I remember their original location when they were on Broadway in Lakeview. My partner and I have been going to Anna Maria's at Montrose and Clark for almost ten years now. We have had the same two servers, Scott and Brian, for almost every single visit. Both of the servers are amazing and have always treated us like family. The food is simple, straight forward, and tasty classic Italian dishes. I would highly recommend Anna Maria's to anyone.

I admit I'm not a foodie but Ive been coming here for years, even at the prior location at Irving and Clarendon, and I always have great service and good food!

Three friends share a birthday and always celebrate together. They decided to meet here for a change of venue. The atmosphere was great; our server, Brian, was friendly and accommodating; and the food was delicious. My wife and I will definitely be returning!

My boyfriend and I moved to the area 7 months ago and have always been curious about this place. I mentioned it didn't have the best reviews but decided to try it anyway. The service was fine. It was the food and the prices that I had a problem with. We ordered a caeser salad, veal piccata with fettuccini Alfredo and the grilled salmon with broccoli. The salad was just ok. The piccata was forgettable. The pasta was very bland. The salmon did not taste like salmon. It tasted like it was previously frozen with no salmon flavor and it was fishy. The broccoli had a bitter taste to it. How could steamed veggies get messed up? After tip the bill came to $75 for an average at best dinner. Not worth the money at all.

Read some good yelp reviews and the place is only a few blocks from home. So decided to try it. Took my girl friend there and we ordered a bottle of wine and each an entre. The oil and bread was just olive oil and nothing special about the bread. I ordered the chicken fettuccine and my girlfriend got the chicken parmesan. I was severely disappointed in both meals. I'm pretty sure the just bought some chicken fried it up and dumped a store bought marinara on it and then gave bow tie pasta with some sauce on it as well. No flavor at all!!! Litterally none. My Alfredo was same. Absolutely no flavor. I could have went to Gordon foods and had my 9 year old cousin make the dish and it most likely would have been better. Instead we ate here and spent $148.00 yes a regular bottle of a no name pinot noir and 2 entres and it was $148. waste of my time and money and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. On a good note our server was very friendly and we didn't have to wait for much. But considering if was a Saturday night and there was only 4 other couples there I am sure he didn't have much to do.

I just moved to the neighborhood from Wrigleyville, so I wanted to eat at a REAL Italian restaurant, not a pizza place :) The staff was very welcoming and our waiter was very professional and warm. The restaurant had the perfect mood lighting and was very cozy. The bread they brought us was fresh out of the oven and hot! It tasted like candy...I loved it. Bread is extremely important so I was excited that it was so amazing :) No appetizer needed! Hubby and I didn't go "all out" here because we're trying to save some money, so we just ordered wine and entrees. Hubby got the spaghetti bolognese with meatballs and I got the penne caprese. My penne caprese didn't disappoint! It was the perfect size portion, they weren't stingy on the fresh mozzarella, and it was so garlicy and amazing! MMMM. Hubby's bolognese sauce was so flavorful, and he let me have one of his meatballs. It was the best I've tasted in a long time...definitely made fresh and with love! Also, it was a Friday night, the restaurant was full, and our food came out within minutes! I cannot wait to come back and try the bread pudding...I spied it on the dessert menu and will be dreaming about having it until it is MINE!

One of the classier places to eat in the immediate area, food was pretty good, service a little slower than I would have liked... but that is usually the case with a classier place.

While we had been to their other location and found it enjoyable, I am not quite sure what took us so long to get to the new one...well not so new at this point. We had another engagement in the area and decided to have dinner before hand and chose Anna Maria. The space is very easy via public transportation and they were able to accommodate us on a Friday evening with out a reservation. The host was very friendly and sat us right away. The restaurant was busy but not overly crowded and the noise level was minimal. Our server was prompt and offered us the specials. I had the potato cabbage soup and the veal picata which I found both very good. The portion size is reasonable for the price and most entrees come with a side of pasta. We will certainly be back.

This place is GREAT! Always yummy food...and they are so accommodating! I've never seen it really busy...but I also go slightly early since I live right down the block. Really good pasta dishes! I highly recommend this place!

Great service. Food was just OK and served, I can't believe I am saying this, too fast. Just got a glass of wine and boom, we were served. The portion of the veal picatta was super small for the price. I don't think it was even 3 ounces. Pasta was good, steak was not bad. $110 for a bottle of wine and two entrees. A bit pricey for what you get. I would go back if someone else was paying but wont go back if I am....

We have been ordering delivery from Anna Maria for several years, though I have never visited the restaurant. Pasta dishes--tortellini with vodka sauce, farfalle ala nona, etc.--are all tasty but could use a higher ratio of sauce to pasta. Fried calamari is good (pop in the toaster oven for a few minutes to crisp it up), as are the portobella mushroom appetizer and salads. Friendly phone order takers and delivery person. In our regular rotation.

The restaurant is cute and the waitstaff is friendly, but I wouldn't put this amongst my favorite Italian places. I inadvertently got myself on an Italian bender this week so this place had a lot to live up to. The menu included all my Italian favorites - pastas, chicken dishes, veals, you name it. I had eaten a huge lunch earlier and had been eating out all weekend so I chose to go with a cheap dish with a size that was not-too-overwhelming (you know how those pasta dishes are - deceivingly large and can feed a small nation). I opted for the spaghetti and meatballs and loaded up on the fresh, warm, super crusty (!!) bread and oil. The pasta was done perfect and the marinara was great. The meatballs were delicious and decent-sized - my only disappointment was that there were only two of them cause I would have eaten at least 5 because they were so good. The portions were not too large, either, so I had no trouble finishing 95% of my meal in one sitting. My friend ordered the pollo cannelloni which was equally as tasty! Had I been a little more ambitious I definitely would have gone after a few of the other dishes on the menu - the pollo vesuvio is marked for my next trip. Since it was my friend's birthday, the restaurant did throw in a dessert on the house, which we all dove into even though we were completely full. My only major complaint about my visit was my bill. I noticed on the website that Anna Maria offers "Spaghetti Sundays" - $8 for spaghetti or an extra $2 for meatballs. I was charged the full menu price of $13 for my meal. I am not sure if the portions are different, or I needed to explicitly mention this, but it was not mentioned as a special to our table. I won't cry over $3, but something to note for next time.

We stopped by this place looking for a very late lunch/early dinner right after doing our taxes. It hit the spot. I think the service was very good here, very nice, prompt, and attentive. The decor is nice as well while nothing that would make you say wow. My wife and I thought the food was good but not the best (I still think one of the best Italian places in Chicago for us so far is Francesca's on Taylor in University Village/Little Italy). The bread and olive oil was good but not outstanding (I have had better at Macaroni and Grill which says something). The prices were a bit more on the expensive side and a bit more than Francesca's. The dessert was again good but not the best. If you are in the area looking for a decent Italian place I would recommend this place.

I really wanted to love this place since it's a local place in my neighborhood, but it was just "meh." Service was attentive and friendly, but food was very lackluster. Not bad, but I could make better pasta at home for much cheaper. With so many great Italian restaurants in the city, I won't be back.

One of these days, I will have a proper dinner here.. but until then, I will continue to come for drinks and appetizers or dessert. We came in last night and branched out a little, trying their tiramisu martinis. Dangerously delicious! Service was friendly as usual, and the grilled mushroom appetizer we split was quite good.

Tonight I had dinner at Anna Maria Pasteria and if ever I have found the perfect Italian restaurant this would be it. This gem of a restaurant is located at the corner of Clark Street and Montrose, and the fact that I have lived 2 blocks away and never frequented Anna Maria until tonight blows my mind, obviously I made a wrong turn and wound up at some other restaurant, this would be my loss. This place is magnificent, starting with the ambiance, a gorgeous interior with exposed brick walls, lovely chandeliers, and beautiful table linens. So, it appears that the restaurant is owned by 2 sisters, Anna and Maria, I met Maria tonight and she was welcoming and kind, introduced herself to myself and my friend Gina. Scott was our server and took care of us beautifully as well. Tonights special was a spaghetti with meatballs and a truly phenominal bolegnese sauce, my friend and I both ordered this dish and I have to say it exceeded my expectations, Just so perfect! And to sweeten the deal the menu special price tonight was $10.00, so worth every penny! Anna Maria is not the largest of restaurants, as you enter there is a small bar area and the rest of the space pretty much consists of tables. But, from the moment you enter you just feel so comfortable and relaxed, my friend and I both agreed, we had a great dining experience at Anna Maria's tonight. They have a great wine list as well, after all what goes better with a great italian meal than the perfect glass of wine. Nice dessert options too, I tried to avoid this but I gave in and my friend and I shared 1 dessert between us. Prices are comparable to other finer italian restaurants but.. do yourself a favor and have a meal at Anna Maria's. And if you can go on a Wednesday night when you can have the spaghetti special, you wont be sorry! I have fallen in love with this place, give them a try, you may fall in love too..:)

Service was fine to slightly great. Our server was attentive - but please lessen repetitively asking every few minutes if the food is ok. I had the pollo principessa. It was salty but still tolerable (hunger increases tolerance level :)). It would have been 4 stars but their cloth napkin really smelled awful. I understand that cloth napkins are generally perceived to be more luxurious than paper napkin but not when the cloth napkin smells of old grease/oil. I would much prefer plain-looking paper napkins (more sanitary, no smell) over lovely but rancid-smelling cloth napkins. My comment and suggestion to the employee in charge of housekeeping: It's not enough to remove visible food and oil stains from kitchen linens. They should also smell clean. Washing them in a washing machine usually isn't sufficient to get rid of the odors. You have to pre-treat/soak with dish detergent (Dawn or Cascade or whatever you're using). Yes, that's right. Dish detergent. Removing food residue/stain from fabric is no different from removing food residue from cookware/dinnerware. Wash in very hot water. When you get your cleaned cloth napkins back, smell them before storing them away. Rancid-smelling cloth napkins give the impression that you're using dirty linens. To be fair though, it's rare to find restaurants that do not have rancid smelling cloth napkins. It's probably one of those things that restaurant managers tend to overlook a lot. Give me a holler please when you find a Chicago restaurant that has fresh-smelling cloth napkins!

We went there last night. There were only two other tables occupied at the time. Our food was AWFUL. I had heard so many good things about this place but we were both sorely disappointed. I had the Frutti de Mare, and the clams were cold. Like they just came out of the fridge, not hot and just recently opened. I got 1 scallop and no shrimp. My friend had gnocchi, which again were cold, just out of the fridge. Not fresh, not home made, at least not home made this week. Our bottle of wine was also very overpriced for the quality (it was a Wednesday after all we were going for cheap) The sauce was fantastic, the service was good. I just wished my dinner had been cooked the day I ordered it and not microwaved leftovers. For a $100 tab, you would expect better.

This is a hidden gem. The food was outstanding, the service was phenomenal and the ambiance was perfect for a quiet date or a dinner with the whole family. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You will love it.

To say that I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. Anna Maria Pasteria doesn't make their own ravioli. No seriously. They bring it in from Pasta Fresh. That's a big strike, in my book. That kind of set the tone for the evening, sadly. On top of the not so made in house pasta, the wine list is incredibly small. Want a nice bottle of Perseco with dinner? Well too bad. Because at this eatery, there is a very bad split bottle for $9.00. It's terrible, too. There isn't a whole lot of variety in the wine menu. Making matters worse, Aquaman seemed to be pouring drinks to our table. On four separate occasions I had to wipe water that off of a plate and food due to the dreaded over aggressive water pour. Complicating matters, the service team ran into meall evening. The number of times that I was needlessly ran into was stunning. Come on, folks, please, for the love of all that is good and holy: Don't kick your customer's chairs or run into them while they're eating!!! SLOW DOWN while walking so close to a customer table. I made the mistake of ordering the veal saltimbocca. The ham was so tough and leathery. It obviously was packaged pre-sliced. It came with a pasta side. The sauce kind of tasted like chef boyardee. Not very tasty. The rest of the table had very little to say in a positive way about their entrees. The dessert menu didn't scream EAT DESSERT. After hearing that the pasta isn't made in house, we decided that the dessert menu would probably be brought in as well. This place is fine for a quick bite or to meet someone. Your standard American-Italian fare is plentiful here. If you like cheese baked on top of an entree, you will find several wonderful options here. It's fine, but I'm just kind of over spagetti and meatballs Italian.

Please lower your prices! I live next door to the restaurant. It makes me so sad to see it empty every night. The food can be good, just not worth the cost. Chicken Parm should not be $20. Call restaurant impossible!

Food and Service are alright, but nothing outstanding. We visited this place over Market Days weekend. We found our server to be informative and fun. We enjoyed our entrees even if they were served to us incorrectly. The bruschetta was one of the worst I've had. The bread was too toasted. The wine was good and reasonably priced. Our entrees were served to the wrong persons. Barring that, my chicken dish was tasty. We didn't order any dessert. After we paid the bill, we continued to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather, but no one ever came to refill our water glasses and we were there another hour. In fact, we would have had to gone inside to ask someone to come out and bring more water because we never saw anyone else the rest of our visit. C'mon! It's water already!

Such a great little location, smack dab in between all the main restaurant strips (Lakeview/Lincoln Square/Andersonville). A quiet, cozy, authentically inspired dining area with excellent homemade pasta (I had the gorgonzola/apple salad and a creamy tomato rigatoni that was on special). Our server was polite, courteous, efficient and made lovely suggestions. Our dinner was at a nice pace, not rushed even though it was pretty filled on a Saturday night at 8pm. The crowd seemed casual and relaxed and the prices were acceptable for the portions and quality. Parking is OK. :) And yes, save room for dessert (I had tiramasu).

WOW! I went to this restaurant for the first time last week, and it was absolutely amazing!! Everything from the service, to the delicious food! I've lived in Chicago for about 3 years and been to many Italian places over that time, this was by FAR the best out of them all. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should ASAP, or else your missing out!!

I came to Anna Maria Pasteria for dinner a few months ago and had a wonderful time! I had a wonderful time because I was with a group of 20 amazingly smart and witty people (and the wine was flowing like...well...wine.) If it hadn't been for our dinner party, I don't think I would have enjoyed Anna Maria Pastaria. First of all, the jammed us into a little spot in the back. We were practically sitting in each others laps! I know that a party of 20 is hard to seat, but maybe the could have tried to accommodate us in the front part of the restaurant instead of trying to make an area that was too small work. They have a huge menu. It was almost too hard to decide so I went with the first thing that caught my eye, which was tortellini. It was ok. The tiramisu was good. Everything was all kind of average. Nothing really stood out as being really good and no one raved about their meal. I would try this restaurant again, but I don't feel like I would go out of my way to eat here.

  • Lynn M.

I had been looking forward to going here for a while. The food was average, but the service was absolutely abysmal. It was probably about 20 minutes before the waiter came to even take our order, and then no one even looked at us the rest of the meal. We had to make multiple attempts to flag down the waiter to get the check. In the meantime, the place was less than 1/2 full or patrons, so I didn't see a ton of business to take the staff's time.

I want to give it three stars but "Meh. I've experienced better." (I like Yelp's note) The reason to give it three stars is I like the internal design and the atmosphere. But since it's a Italian restaurant, it's all about food. I would say, I won't visit this restaurant again. Food is okay. What we ordered not a surprise but you will forget how it tastes after you go home. Everyone recommends desert-Tiramisu and we tried. Again, I don't recommend Tiramisu here, either. Too much cream on the top and it's an okay one. What is the reason I give two stars? Their services are not friendly. We had a lovely mood to enjoy it but the waiter is pushy! He tried to sell their soup or salad even we already finished the order. I would rather go Francesca for Italian food. Their high price doesn't make their food worthy. And I don't like their waiter!

Made a reservation, was seated in the middle of the dinning room, bus boy brought water and later bread. Two other tables were seated near us, both had their orders taken before our table. When we finally did get a waiter they did not tell us about any specials, and rushed us for our order. Food was good, but the service was not good, I will not return.

I visited Anna Maria Pasteria for the first time last Saturday night. The restaurant was moderately full, but nothing what I expected for a busy weekend. The ambiance was quaint and cozy - good for a date but beware, it was a bit noisy. For appetizers, I recommend the portabella mushrooms. Two fairly large mushroom caps came sautéed in a delicious base with vegetables. The bruschetta was also tasty but was heavy on the garlic. (Hours later, I was still tasting it.) For my entree, I opted for the Lobster ravioli special in a roasted red pepper cream sauce for $18. Very good. The ravioli were fresh and were most likely homemade. The friends I was with ordered various chicken and fish plates, all which they seemed to enjoy. I would definitely give this place another take. It's owned by two Italian sisters and my Italian friends seemed to give it a seal of approval (when in Rome...). I would like to give the other entrees a try, besides just getting pasta.

Yelp needs half stars. I'd give this place 3 and a half of them. First off I went with my GF on a Monday night at about 8:30. Not crowded at all. After reading the positive reviews I thought I'd give this place a chance. The restaurant has two parts plus some outdoor seating (weather permitting). The inner dinning hall is tightly packed and I imagine on a crowded night it might be a little loud. For dinner I had the Veal Parmesan with a side of meat balls. They're hand made and pretty good. The sauce was ok and the noodles were also Ok... Since it was so dead in there I could hear all the music they were blasting. Mostly old Dean Martin and Sinatra songs with a few classical opera pieces peppered in... All standards and sort of a cliche. The dessert was bad and obviously frozen. It tasted like something you'd by from Costco. We had a cannoli and some lady fingers. Both tasted store bought.

What happened? I used to think Anna Maria's was a 4 star restaurant, but no more. The last time I ate there, there were 3 in my party. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was OK. JUST ok. The side dish of pasta was AWFUL. I took a couple of bites and pushed it aside. The marinara sauce had a bitter taste to it and was not pleasant at all. Actually, some of the worst marinara sauce I've ever had. The dessert menu was underwhelming, so we all skipped that. Neither of my other 2 companions were impressed and we all agreed that this restaurant has seen better days. The wait staff was OK. Again, JUST ok. Efficient, but not very warm. Luckily, I've found a couple of other restaurants that serve much better and fresher Italian dishes. Sad to say, I will not be back.

We live right around the corner, and we absolutely LOVE their pizza delivery! It always arrives piping hot, and everything tastes really fresh. You also get 10% off if you pay in cash. We've only dined in once. We split the caeser salad. It was really tasty; the dressing was more of a vinaigrette than creamy, which was nice. For our main course, I had the Farfalle Primavera. It was just ok. It was kind of bland, and tasted like something that could have been made at home rather than a $17.50 restaurant dish. Just nothing about it made it very special. It kind of reminded me of diet food, to be honest. My husband had the pork chop special. He really liked it.... but it was severely undercooked. He had to send it back. To the credit of the chef, when it returned it was cooked perfectly and was still juicy and delicious rather than overcooked and dry as the hubby feared. Due to the aforementioned pork dish, we were credited with free dessert :) I had the mini cannoli, which were yummy. The service was prompt and friendly, and the restaurant itself has a nice ambiance. We will definitely keep ordering the pizza, and we will likely be back to dine in as well.

Incredible home made pasta- This place made a move off of Broadway and Irving last year sometime. When they were on Broadway their location was totally under the radar (you could literally walk right by and not see it) and they just moved to a corner location about a mile away on Montrose and Clark. They are a great deal busier now, but they still have great food and are relatively still unknown.

Being a pasta lover, this place is like heaven. It is dark and romantic with lots of yummy pasta and desserts. I'd definitely go back for seconds. Maybe try their famous spaghetti?

Have gone here on and off for years, always enjoyed it. Liked their Broadway location better but oh well. went there last night, the place was empty at 8:00 on a wed. night, surprising. Food was good but must point out the veal saltambuca(sp?) while flavorful, it was one medallion pounded out and cut into 4 pieces, for $20 thats a little, well, little. I know times are tough these days, but c'mon.

Okay, I have NO idea why this place has an average 3 1/2 stars with many 4 star reviews. My boyfriend had been wanting to try this place for a while now, and he is half Italian so he is a good judge of Italian food. And I LOVE Italian food. That being said, we may have mad a HUGE mistake ordering chicken entrees. I will eat my hat if they can prove to me the chicken they served us had not been frozen in a large plastic bag along with the 100 chicken breasts that were bought at the Costco in bulk. Also, the sauce was unimpressive and bland and the additional ingredients that were mentioned in the description were non-existent (or obviously from a bag of frozen Ore-ida potatoes!). It was depressing. I could have made the same meal BETTER for half the money in my own home. The "marinara" sauce (I use the word VERY loosely) tasted like tomato paste mixed with water. This is not an exaggeration: go eat a spoonful of tomato paste and then drink a glass of water. That is exactly what it tasted like. Also, the bruschetta was a joke. Seriously, wow. I read these reviews and it seems like maybe the pasta might be good, so I might try it again just for that, but after watching my boyfriend drop $50 on a such a joke of a meal, I think our hearts are too broken to go back. We would rather go to Enoteca Roma or Lucia's in Wicker Park. Now that is atleast decent and mostly delicious Italian food! However, the martini I had was delicious, but maybe only because the server knew the rest of the meal would most likely suck and was trying to make amends. As a former server, I felt sorry for the entire wait/support staff because if our meal was any indication of the general quality of food, they had a tough job trying to earn a living selling a joke of a product. They were professional and friendly and, frankly, the only redeeming part of this whole fiasco (other than the martini). He tipped them 20%. There are a few explanations for this whole debacle: 1. The pasta really is good and we ordered from the worst section of the menu. This is very possible. If that is the case, please please please, take the chicken dishes off the menu! I beg of you! 2. This place used to be good and has fallen on hard times because of the economy and (as my boyfriend and I hypothesized) had to fire their executive chef as a result. No good chef would serve what we had to eat. 3. There is one good dish on the menu and all the good reviews come directly from that. Or, from friends of the restaurant owners. I really am perplexed by it! Please explain this to me! So, one star for the martini and the service, ZERO stars for the food. If this place is still open in a year I would be very surprised. It was a ghost town when we went and supposedly is empty every time my boyfriend walks by it as well. We should have known better.

I ate here for the first time after a friend recommended it.What a find! This place is a real neighborhood gem.It is not a loud see and be seen place. It is small and unpretentious and on the night I was here the crowd seemed mostly 40-60 years old.I had one of the nightly specials which was grilled salmon over pasta with red pesto sauce. It was so delicious! And,at $20,it was a real bargain as the piece of salmon had to be at least ten ounces. The sauce was light and delicious. The salmon was cooked just as I ordered.I wish Anna Maria was in my neighborhood.

Today was actually the 2nd time we've been here. However, the last time was about 3 years ago and I can't remember much from the night other than we left full and a bit tipsy (thank god for taxi cabs) But today we were there for a private party and it was a lot of fun. We actually were there before they were officially open but it took me back to my younger days when we would have a Sunday Italian family meal at my grandma's house. Appetizers were the portabello mushrooms, bruschetta, polenta and the pizza bread. Everything was served family-style and people seemed to enjoy it pretty well. I only had the polenta and pizza bread. The polenta was firm and covered in a tomato sauce. I've had better but this still was pretty good. The pizza bread was fantastic. We then got two pastas (primi piatti), a rigatoni alfredo w/mushrooms and a farfalle marinara with sausage & mushrooms. Both were pretty good. Not something I'd order off of their menu as a first course, but still solid family-style servings. For our main course, they had the chicken picatta with a side of spinach. I do not like spinach and we had only one piece of chicken on the plate, so I'm glad I had the beginning courses to help get me going. The chicken was alright, but too small. Desserts were brought in externally as it was for a private birthday and the birthday girl is a pastry chef. I agree with some of the reviewers from my memories from 3 years ago. The dining rooms are small and I remember the tables being VERY close together and sort of tight, which also made it quite noisy. This is right on the northern border of Wrigleyville so it's not as populated and you can get street parking (metered) so for that, if you're driving, this is fine.

I used to go to the location on Irving Park & Broadway at least twice per month. Comfy, comfy, comfy homeade italian food that could consistently repair any level of crappy day you may have gone through. It was a good gap of 5 years since my last visit and I was THRILLED to see some of my old favorites and a few more entrees than their old menu. Although pretty full, my friend and I got seated immediately (on a Saturday without reservations, even). Great meal, great service from start to finish. It was like finding your long lost favorite pair of jeans...and they still fit. They lose one star due to acoustics. Once the Chianti hit the bloodstream of a couple of Soccer Moms...whooofff....crazy loud in there.

I LoVe Italian food... and I've been happy every single time that I've eaten at Anna Maria. First, they don't have a meal on the menu that would satisfy my veggie loving taste buds, but the chef has been happy to 'CrEaTe' something for me EVERY time! Thaz love! I'm not crazy about the bread either, as some others have said, AnD I prefer to have olive oil on the table, but it is brought if one asks for it. The menu looks superb for carnivores, and my meat/fish loving friends have adored it. The atmosphere is cozy with nice lighting and music. It is perfect for a small group of friends or a date. I would recommend calling ahead for a reservation. The service is also great!.

Good place for a date or just to hang out with friends. Food is great and prices are reasonable. Service is always attentive and the decoration is nice. Try their desserts... some of the best in town!

Oh, Anna Maria Pastaria, how I had suck high hopes for you. At the recommendation of a friend for a great date spot, I tried AMP and left a bit disappointed. Being a proper date, I planned on having a standard entree with appetizer, dessert, and a bottle of wine, and succeeded in most of that. We dined on a cold Wednesday evening and the lack of patrons only seemed to reiterate that fact. The place is cozy without packing the tables in, but there were maybe only 3 groups seated. Service was only average from the moment we entered until the moment we left. There was no maître d' waiting at the front. Instead, a bus boy directed us to sit where we wanted. Just then, a waiter arrived and lead us to an open table. After being seated, we were simply handed menus and a card with daily specials and left to our own. It wasn't but a few minutes before the waiter returned asking us if we've made a selection, when we hadn't even had chance to decide on drinks, let alone entree choices. The meal started with a bottle of Pinot Noir, which was delicious, but a bit on the pricey side - there seemed to be no economy wine choices on the menu. If you can BYO and pay a corking fee, it would be a much better value. Additionally, the glasses the wine was served in seemed to be glass rather than crystal. They were very small (maybe more appropriate for a dessert wine?) and looked like they came straight from a department store. Unfortunately, as the night progressed, we had our wine glasses filled only once, which left us to the task of constantly refilling the tiny vessels. Our appetizer was Fried Calamari, which was fairly standard fare - nothing outstandingly good or bad to report. My main course was Rigatoni alla Caprese, which I found to be absolutely delicious. The portion size was huge and priced very reasonable. My date chose a chicken dish (not sure which) with a side of spaghetti, and she seemed to enjoy it quite nicely. At this point, with good conversation, it seemed the restaurant had emptied out, and we were the last table there. Although it was still far before closing time, despite a quarter bottle of wine and food on our plates, the wait staff on two occasions asked if we were finished with out meal, it seems in an attempt to move us along. We did finally finish the bottle, skipped dessert, and were ready to leave. The check was paid and we left, likely much to the enjoyment of the staff (as they were already cleaning while we were still eating). Overall, I feel the restaurant deserves 2 stars based on my experiences from this one night. At the same time, I think my rating would be much higher on a night with a better equipped staff, and hopefully more attentive service. Because of this, I'm splitting the difference and assigning a rating of 3 stars. I would definitely give AMP another chance, but I'll wait until a Friday or Saturday when the crowds are out, and maybe therefore hearts of the wait staff.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for what you receive, the service is excellent, and I've always felt welcome when I go there for a meal. Plus, its corner location means lots of big windows with good street views, and while the restaurant is small I've never felt it to be overcrowded or too loud. My only complaint is that many of the sauces are too sweet for my taste. I'm sure this is simply a regional Italian influence, and it definitely has nothing to do with the quality of the restaurant's food. Everything is fresh, well-made, and extremely good. Anna Maria Pasteria is a great place for a date, or simply going out on a weeknight for a casual dinner.

Great food, great service, great ambiance! My friend called Friday at a little before 10 to find out if they were still serving. The kitchen is open until 11. Hooray! We arrived a little past ten. I think there were 1 or 2 other tables there, not surprising considering the late hour. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The restaurant looks really nice and cozy and clean! Our server was Scott. He was very gracious and attentive, but not smothering or pushy. We had questions about the menu and requested suggestions. He clearly knows the menu well as he was able to offer many different suggestions for a range of palates. We ordered drinks and an appetizer as we made our decisions. Even though we arrived quite late, we did not feel pressured to order quickly. We had the eggplant appetizer. I love eggplant and this was quite yummy. It was lightly breaded and, I think, baked instead of fried. The breading was tasty and it didn't overpower the eggplant. We ordered entrees and then remembered we wanted to try the soup. No problem, Scott said, it's not too late! We had the house soup (not the soup of the day) which is a chicken broth egg drop tortellini concoction that was oh so yummy! The entrees we ordered were the farfalle a la nonna and the lobster ravioli. The farfalle itself did not seem to be homemade pasta, but the dish was still quite good. The sausage was flavorful and everything was fresh tasting. The ravioli did seem to be homemade pasta. It was also quite good, but I think that the mushroom sauce overpowered the delicate flavor of the lobster. However, I really loved the mushroom sauce. I would order this again just for the mushroom sauce. Again, even though it was now past 11 and we were the only ones left dining, Scott suggested we really ought to try dessert. Now, this was a good thing because we always like to try dessert and we were glad we wouldn't feel rushed through it. Scott recommended a new addition to the menu and we were not disappointed (though today I can't remember the name)! As we were enjoying our cake one of the owners, Maria, stopped by our table to say hello. I love that! Thank you to Scott and to Anna Maria Pasteria for a wonderful, late, leisurely dinner. Now that we've found you we will be back.

We went to Anna Maria on Saturday night and had a horrible experience!! We had to wait quite awhile before we were noticed, which wasn't such a big deal, even though the dining room was split between three waiters. However it was clear our server could care less about us or our experience. When my fiance asked him for his thoughts on two different dishes, his replay was "go with the fungi, because I already wrote it down". WHAT???? Are you kidding me?? Who says that?? My fiance ended up ordering the mushroom dish (no thanks to any assistance from the waiter) and it tasted like dirt...it was horrible. If that wasn't bad enough, the wine list is very small and I ordered a glass from a bottle that had been open a few days too many. Needless to say, we will not ever be going back there again. Not sure how this place has made it this long!

Hallelujah, we finally found a place that delivers GOOD pizza in a reasonable amount of time on a Friday night! We've been searching - trying all the different delivery places and all of them have left us feeling dissatisfied. I mean, pizza shouldn't be that hard to make right? Good cheese, fresh herbs, tangy sauce and delicious toppings. This isn't rocket science people! We ordered pasta from them a while back and everything was really good. So tonight when we wanted pizza, we decided to give them a try. First of all, everyone was friendly - the person that took our order and the guy that delivered the food. Secondly, it came in under an hour on a Friday night. Thirdly... we could actually see slices of tomatoes on the pizza! We've ordered pizzas in the past with fresh tomato and the bits of tomato were few and far between. Fresh garlic with fresh tomato was amazing. Cheese and mushroom, not bad at all. The crust was a little chewier than I would have liked, but it was topped with such amazing yumminess that I'm more than willing to forgive it. Pizza or pasta, we'll be back for more! I also recommend their salads - the one with apples and gorgonzola is great.

I tried to give it two and a half stars. It was good food, with excellent service. On a friday night it was pretty loud though so it wasn't exactly the best place to take a date. The food was good. Seems to be just another decent Italian place in the city. Still looking for better quality food and an environment that is quiet and cozy for an Italian dinner. This is definetely not it.

Got the Tiramisu carry-out, based on a tip from a friend who'd consider moving back to Chicago as long as Anna Maria Pasteria's around (seems like they operated under a different management/name earlier in the same neighborhood). Loved it, the staff seemed quite friendly. Not a huge Italian food fan, but decor wise, seemed quite soothing, although I wish they were located in a denser neighborhood.

Underwhelmed. I had the Chicken Primavera served over linguine and my gf had the calamari served over angel hair. My chicken was room temperature and the sauce lacked any complexity. I really dislike being served a dish that I feel I could make at home for 1/4 the cost. Gf didn't like her entree at all. The calamari was overcooked and left the dish lifeless. I love love love going out for Italian food and experiencing a flavor explosion in my mouth. I'll keep searching for a neighborhood joint that can offer that.

I really was not Impressed with the food. They sit you arm and arm next to others and its really hard to hold a conversation without being involved in all the others around you...although it was pretty entertaining listening to this guy next to me trying to impress his date while digging a hole deeper and deeper and seeing the girls face saying "Help me, I can't wait til this is over!" I have had better food at a cheaper price at Olive Garden, I am not lying, really!. The service was OK I guess. Just did not seem all that great for the price. Then again maybe I was paying for the "Entertainment."

I should start this with I'm not a huge fan of Italian food. I was asked to join a friend and her family for dinner here. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, definitely not a neighborhood I would go to in search of an Italian restaurant. Our party of 15 was lucky enough to have a semi private area. The service was attentive and welcoming. The menu offers a little bit of everything for everyone. We ordered three appetizers for the table and I only tasted the fried calamari, while good, nothing about it made it stand apart from others I have tried elsewhere. I had pasta in a red sauce with shrimp. Ehh, nothing to rave about, but it wasn't horrible. I did add some red pepper flakes to spice it up a bit. I also had the strawberry torte for dessert, which should I return, I will never order. It was almost 75% whipped cream. Really, who eats that much whipped cream? Would I go out of my way to return? No, but I'll definitely return if asked to w/ friends.

My fiance and I came here on Valentines Day and got just what we hoped for: a very cozy, friendly environment with some of the best service I've ever experienced. Arrived 15 min late for our 7:15 reservation - so prime time on a prime restaurant night - the minute we walked in, we were greeted by a nice hostess who immediately sat us. Waiter came right over within 2-3 minutes. The wine list has great varieties, but not so many that we felt torn. Went with a moderately priced pinot noir and was pleased that it tasted about 15% better than it's price point. I had a caprese salad - very cold, crisp vegatables - just the way it should be, and spaghetti with meatballs. Pasta tastes like it was made same day. He had the tortellini with mushrooms, peas, and something else - he loved it. We shared tiramisu - I'm borderline neurotic about tiramisu and this was yet another course that set the bar high. We will definitely be back.

My fiance and I had dinner at Anna Maria on a whim and we had a good experience. Wasn't crowded and was very dark - but the food was good. I had Chicken Piccata and bread pudding for dessert -- both were great. the side of pasta was okay. I would go back.

We went with a group of 8, and when we split the bill it was $35 per person. The food was very good and service was excellent. I had the pork chops, D had the gnocchi. We were very happy with everything. If we had been able to eat here for more like $25 per person, I would have given it 4 stars. It is a bit pricey for the overall experience.

I love this spot mainly for it's atmosphere and flexibility in the kitchen. It's never overcrowded, and if you want something but add or take away just a little something and they'll happily whip something up for you in the back. However change isn't really necessary considering their food is always good and their specials are worth coming in regularly. They are fantastic at making martinis, solid wine selection, and please, if you go, do yourself a favor and end your meal with the chocolate-covered cream puffs. You won't be disappointed.

where do i begin? my bf and i thought we'd do date here this weekend- bad decision. im actually writing this review 10 minutes after dining because of the experience. the food was ok- nothing special, semi overpriced for what you get. The presentation was horrible..i thought i was at the Ikea cafeteria. i got chicken piccata (two chicken breasts on a plate and penne with marinara on the side) and my bf got cheese tortellini slopped on his plate. all in all, the food fine. but what really ruined our experience was the service, or lack of. we saw our waiter, scott, twice during our meal. once for the order and once for the check. he made it clear that we were not a priority when we 'stuck with water' and passed on apps. the bus-boy was more helpful than scott, who passed our table numerous times without a word. i really wanted to like this place- its kinda close to my apartment and i love italian food. but after a night of being ignored for having a small bill, Anna Maria is off my list.

For a relatively inexpensive date spot, Anna Maria Pasteria has some of the best italian food I've had in Chicago. Appetizers, pasta, and dessert were all phenomenal, and definitely left a good impression to come back. It's a cute, small, neighborhood restaurant, but delivers some surprising dishes. Highly recommended.

This neighborhood stalwart has been here twenty years (used to be further south down Clark actually). Nice location, pleasant & professional staff. But (here it comes), we were not wow'd as we were once. We split a salad which was more than big enough to split, nice salad. My wife & I had pasta, good pasta. OK, the Tiramisu is still AWESOME, always has been. But I can only give an A-OK, for that is what it was. Perhaps my wife said it best, we have eaten at a lot of restaurants in between and what was WOW is now an A-OK neighborhood restaurant.

After reading all the other reviews, I'd been a bit hesitant to go--it's not like there's a shortage of good Italian spots in this city--but my wife and I went last Friday and had a really nice time. Seated on a Friday night without reservations--not bad! We split the misto mare (sp?) and some sort of vegetarian pasta dish. Nothing life changing, but very good. (Especially the profiteroles for dessert!) The interior is nicely done up in cozy, faux Italian style (murals, etc.). Service was fine. All in all, no complaints, and we will be happily going back for a nice, easy date night sometime soon.

This is a great pasta house right around the corner from where I live. I love how the name rolls off the tongue- Anna Maria Pastaria! Everything I've had here has been good, but nothing earth shattering just yet. The caprese salad was a bit different than I thought it would be (more salad than tomato, basil and buffalo mozzarella), but still very good. I've had the fettuccine and a seafood pasta there, both tasty but nothing spectacular. They do have a nice Italian restaurant atmosphere- dark and Mediterranean- a good spot for a date!

I haven't been to Anna Maria since they moved to this location, and yes, I'm ashamed of myself. But I have looked in, and the space looks just as cozy and charming as their old location on Broadway. Anna and Maria are the sisters who run the place -- and do much of the cooking. If the brothers from "Big Night" came to Chicago, this is the kind of place they would open. Traditional Italian dishes prepared with an attention to detail. Nothing too fancy, but everything delicious. They serve a salad with apples, walnuts and gorgonzola cheese which is wonderful. A huge selection of pastas (I'm a sucker for the puttanesca, with fresh tomatoes, capers and olives), and a variety of chicken, veal and fish. Maria is the pastry chef, and if there are fresh profiteroles (filled cream puffs topped with chocolate sauce), save room for dessert. Service is always great here. A lot of the staff have been with Anna Maria for years, so they know their stuff. You won't find a lot of struggling actors paying the rent here. These are professionals.

The place is a cute, and the low lighting provides a lovely atmosphere. Our server was friendly and accommodating, and even brought out an unsolicited free ice cream pastry dessert thing for my companion's birthday. That said, the food is just OK. There's just so much great Italian food in this city that it's hard to justify coming here to have pasta in just kind of average sauce.

  • Tara P.

I can't speak to the dine-in side of things, but delivery from Anna Maria was prompt and the ordering process was pleasant. We feasted (and I mean it...huge portions) on the spaghetti with meatballs and the linguini with clams. Both were very tasty, both that night and the next. Go meatballs!

We heard from friends the food was great and so were the prices. However, when we dined here, we found the food to be only okay and quite over priced for what it was. We've had much better elsewhere in the city. Plus, I was terribly unimpressed with the service. This is one restaurant I will never eat at again. I'll stick with better quality, service, and price at places like Crust or Spacca Napoli if I want Italian.

I may be rating this a bit higher than the food itself deserves, but it is an affordable, easy to go into spot that is consistently good. My now husband and I had our very first "real" date here, and we keep going back because of how int intimate and cozy it is. The food is consistent, but there's never been anything mind-blowing. My father-in-law though loved the food! He was really excited by his entree (something with seafood, I think). I always get the angel hair with ricotta and tomato sauce and it is very nice -- like grown-up Spaghetti-os. The bruschetta and Caesar salad are also good.

came here for a babe date/my bff's bday. it's conveniently located right up the street from my house. the ambiance was nice. the service was decent. the food was pretty good. there was just something very underwhelming about the whole place. everything was nice/good/decent but nothing really jumped out at me. perhaps i'll visit again at some point to give it another shot.

My co-worker and I stopped in for some comfort food to warm us up and help us to decompress after a day at work. It's such a cute, relaxing restaurant, and the service was excellent! We were grandmas and went at 5, there were a few other early diners there as well. I had meat tortellini in a marinara sauce, it was good, but not better than I could make at home. My friend had the soup of the day, which was tomato and basil. She loved it. She also had a huge portion of farfalle pasta with italian sausage, I snuck a bite, and it was pretty good, but again nothing to rave about. I think the price for her meal was more reasonable considering the large portion, I thought mine was a little expensive for what it was. I'm not sure if I'd return, but it was a pleasant meal.

If you're looking for a no-nonsense, straight-up fantastic Italian restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious plate of flavorful, handmade pasta and sip a fabulous Italian wine, this is your place! It's cozy and comfortable, the staff is warm, friendly, and attentive, and the food never disappoints! And best of all, it's affordable. The big-name Italian places downtown and in Lincoln Park may charge you an arm and a leg, but Anna Maria's prices are perfect. Wonderful for an intimate date night or a dinner with friends and family... make sure you bring people who are willing to share, because half the fun is trying everyone else's dishes!

I've had better italian. And it was $85 for two of us. The food was very good. I went for the spaghetti and meatballs, and the calamari. I left full, but wasn't enthralled. You can save some coin here if you don't drink. The mixed drinks, I'm sure, contributed to the considerable cost. Service was good.

This restaurant never ceases to amaze me. We go there frequently, and have a great, fresh meal every time. The specials are always great, and the last time we were there, we came with a friend from the East Coast. He asked them to make something special TWICE (for the appetizer and the main course), and it was no problem. We love this place. And now they do catering.

I had never heard of Anna Maria Pasteria before and was pleasantly surprised. It's small, but cozy. Maybe my holiday cheer was causing hallucinations but I felt like everyone in the restaurant was extra friendly. Some of the tables are in pretty close quarters and I noticed a lot of people talking to tables next to them, talking about their food and wine, or just socializing in general. Maybe it's the holiday, maybe the food and atmosphere made everyone extra happy, who knows. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated right away. Our server was helpful, suggested a few dishes, and checked on us just the right amount of times. We ordered bruschetta to start and tortellini and the pollo cannelloni as entrees. Both were very tasty. But the best part was dessert! The chocolate cake was amazing; light, fluffy, chocolatey, and... and... wow, my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I tried Anna Maria several years ago on Broadway, and liked it well enough to choose it for a birthday dinner last year. The food was tasty, and the price was reasonable for everyone's budget (always a consideration when you're gathering a group). The new location is great; we too got a semi-private area, and the staff was extremely attentive. Parking was also good on the streets just west of Clark, and taxis were also plentiful.

This restaurant used to be by me at broadway and irving but moved to montrose and clark. the new location is pretty cool. a couple larger open dining areas but also some fun smaller, intimate nooks - our party of 8 got a cute table a little set off by ourselves. The decor is cute faux italian and the food was pretty good, not too expensive, but nothing to write home about. i would go back, but not quickly.

Love this place. It's warm and welcoming, fabulous service and great food. A real gem. The specials are always great - this is about the only place in the city that I order chicken because it's always soooooo good off the specials list (the fish is typically yummy too, as is the pork). "Traditional" dishes like chicken parm and veal marsala are great too, as are the pasta dishes. Been many times and never disappointed. Desserts are "delish" (to quote the annoying Rachel Ray) and worth saving room for.

I just discovered this little gem last night and it was all I could hope for in a lovely, neighborhood, moderately priced restaurant. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. Now, it's not Olive Garden prices, but I have spent more for less, in taste and portion. I had the lobster ravioli special and it was awfully good. Even better was the gorgonzola rigatoni. I travel to Italy extensively and have a hard time finding decent italian food locally and although this dish was not at all prepared the traditional way, it was very, very tasty. And I absolutely was wowed by the tiramisu. It was EXACTLY as the real tiramisu should be prepared. Loved it so much we ordered another. It was not noisy at all in the dining room, but it was only three quarters full. Perhaps on a full house it may be. I'm sorry others have had bad experiences, but I am going to do a repeat visit and see if it repeats the good vibe. Staff was wonderful as well.

Met a restaurant owner on our Honeymoon in Rome who referred us to Anna Maria's upon learning we were from Chicago. We went to Anna Maria's to celebrate our anniversary and left very happy. It's very quant, small and authentic. Dishes are small, as they are served like that in Italy. I had the veal Parmesan and it was delicious. Wife ordered a chicken, mushroom, spinach risotto and she said "it was phenomenal". All in all, we were very satisfied with our dinner and we hope to make this an anniversary staple indefinitely.

Recently visited here for Dining Out for Life, and super kudos to any restaurant that supports such a worth cause. We were a group of 6 and ordered a couple appetizers, various entrees, and a couple desserts. The overall general impression was that the food was decent, but unfortunately nothing stood out as excellent. My chicken parm was probably the tastiest item, but one needs to consider the simplicity of said dish. Another irritation is that their wine selection is pretty much limited to 15 or so bottles that are all priced at around $35 despite being offered at other locations at the $20-25 price point. Service was good, and place was clean. Overall a decent Italian place if you happen to be in the area.

Excellent Neapolitan influenced Italian food. The staff is overall very friendly and the owners are very much involved in the day-to-day operations of their restaurant. This is my go-to local Italian joint, and I would definitely recommend any fans of Italian cuisine in the neighborhood check it out.

Went here for the first time last night for dinner. There were four of us. I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was awesome! Others had the spaghetti with meatballs, farfalle della nonna and stuffed shells. All loved their meals. We were too full for dessert. Maria, one of the owners, even stopped by our table to check on us. It was a great experience. Definitely will go back.

Whenever I enter this place, it looks to me like it's on its last legs. The room is half empty (or half full?), there's no energy and it totally lacks buzz. Plus when I ordered, they were "out" of the first thing I asked for, a regular menu item at 7 PM. Not a good sign of a sharp kitchen. But soon the restaurant fills a little, it has a local following that keeps it going. And another thing worth mentioning--the food is good--very, very good. The bread is good. The olive oil is fruity and fresh tasting. The martini is a good pour, made with the vodka I requested. The soup of the day, cream of tomato and shrimp, was delicious. The creamy soup had a nice tomato taste, a pale color, and the few rock shrimp floating around in it were fresh tasting and delicious. Risotto with mushrooms was also a great dish--the rice was firm, studded with an assortment of different types of tasty mushrooms, and the dish was seasoned perfectly. Homemade tiramisu was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive. I only found one thing here to disappoint--instead of coming around with a hunk of cheese and a grater to top your pasta, they plop a well-handled shaker of pre-grated cheese on the table. I tasted the stuff and it was miserable--guaranteed to ruin any dish. This cheese is an inexcusable mistake for Italian food of this purported quality, and for this they lose a star. And so--apart from the cheese fiasco--this is a more than decent neighborhood Italian restaurant, and when I say "neighborhood," I don't mean Uptown or Ravenswood, I mean Parioli or Trastevere.

The boys were at the Cubs game, so the girls came here for dinner last week. It was empty at 6pm when we arrived. It took a few minutes for anyone to come to the front to seat us. After that, the service was good. We started with bread and house salads. The house salads came with a dressing that seemed to just be oil and vinegar. The dressing was kind of drippy. Our entrees were a mixed bag. The pizza that my daughter ordered was just okay. I ordered stuff shells with bolognese sauce. The sauce needed something more. More garlic or something. It was just a bit bland. My sister ordered the farfalle della nonna, which was bow tie pasta, with Italian sausage, peas, mushrooms and a creamy tomato sauce. It was the best dish of all that we ordered. It was nice to try a neighborhood Italian restaurant.

Hadn't been back for years so I'm pleased to report that the quality is still high. Invited some colleagues and they all enjoyed their dishes - pasta cooked just right and sauces exceptionally savory. Service was excellent. This is the place to come for Italian- easy street parking and non-hectic atmosphere, rather than going to the places in "trendy" neighborhoods.

My two dads just celebrated their wedding at the restaurant with some family and friends this past weekend. There was a total of 14 guests all together -no puppies allowed. The service was impeccable and the food was absolutely delicious. The guest ordered from the menu which can be difficult for a large group like this. However, the wait staff and kitchen staff handled the rush with ease and perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant for that special romantic dinner or that large group meal. Either way, be sure to bring the leftovers home for the puppy! Two peas up for you Anna Maria Pasteria.

We went here as a last minute thing on Saturday night with a group of 7 people. So the nice thing was that they were able to seat 7 of us right away at 8pm on a Saturday. But the real problem is that the food was just meh. Which would have been fine if hadn't been so expensive. The portions were big, but the food didn't actually taste that great. Overall, I wouldn't go there again.

I'm a little late posting, but every time I pass the restaurant I'm reminded of the great experience we had and feel compelled to write a review. So, here it is! After staying in for dinner on my birthday, I decided to go out with a couple friends for a late-night dessert. My boyfriend called ahead to make sure they would be open late (it was a Monday night around 9 p.m.) and they said they would be. When we arrived, we were greeted with enthusiasm and led to a table they had prepared, complete with desert menus upon receiving our phone call. Our waiter took the time to explain each dessert despite the fact that it was very near closing time. We ordered the tiramisu, chocolate gelato and bread pudding; they even offered to make a fresh pot of coffee to go with our desserts. When the food arrived, they had put a candle in my tiramisu, written Happy Birthday in chocolate on the plate and (very excitedly) joined in when my party began to sing me happy birthday. All of the dishes were fantastic, but the tiramisu was exceptionally good. The experience was wonderful, the waitstaff knowledgable, welcoming and enthusiastic and we can't wait to return! Like... right now! Seriously, we are going right now. Be jealous.

The food is tasty. That said, it is very pricey for the amount of food you get. My wife and I ate every bit of our pasta dinners, something we usually do not do. And the house salad, at $5.75, is a ripoff, containing maybe 50 cents worth of lettuce. The final complaint: even though we got there early in the evening, they were already out of one of their signature dishes, linguini with clams. Our first and last time dining there.

Romantic setting and ambiance. Stuffed shells were delicious and my date had a pasta seafood dish that was loaded with clams, calamari, mussels and scallops and I mean loaded like the dish came out and I thought he had just ordered seafood! The pasta beneath was covered. Prices I thought were very reasonable and the food was great! There's a discount if you pay with cash!!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
