This is the best restaurant in Devon avenue... I have been to lot of restaurants around Devon and this one is by far the best.... They serve everything fresh and delicious (comparatively with other Devon restaurants) Pros: fresh food, clean place Cons: service time

Place it's alright. Ordered 2 different plates, the Briani and the platter #3. First the Briani was a waste of my money, not tasty at all - will not recommend the briani at all. Platter#3 was great. Fresh chicken, fresh food, well cooked, beautifully presented. I recommend this plate.

I usually don't like to say bad things about a place with service I like, but this experience of mine at Anmol was absolutely horrid. Our family had gone in,a party of 8,for the iftaar buffet last night.I had never been there for a buffet before, but judging by how crowded it was becoming, and how many people were on staff,I had assumed we would have a pleasant experience.Around about 8pm,my pregnant sister and brother in-law had joined us.Her question, along with mine, and my entire family's was,"So as soon as it's 8:20pm or so,...Are 'all' of these people,...Including hungry people who have been fasting almost 17 hours, their unruly little children and terrified wait staff with huge trays of food pushing in and out of the kitchen, going to herd around that one table,at the same time?"We assumed since there's numbers on the tables, along with almost 6 seemingly helpful staff members behind the desk, they would organize it somehow.Call tables by numbers/group maybe?Perhaps have men and women go up separately..?Nope.Nothing like that.My brother in-law had gone up there to ask them if it was each man for hisself,or if they were going to somehow organize this chaos. However, after waiting several minutes for those staff members to finish their conversations, and constantly having his questions rudely and blatantly ignored,my brother in-law retreated back to our table.Keep in mind, not only is he himself,a manager at a very well established retaurant(with about 10+ years in the restaurant indurstry,)he is also a man who's wife,is 4 months pregnant with twins. If her getting hit in the stomach, and constantly having to dodge and almost trip over little children not being controlled by their parents properly wouldn't concern a man, what would? It was then around that time that we noticed almost 52 people in the cramped dining area had begun to swarm around the single line of about 7 trays of food, designated for a $15 per person buffet. Now,as a fellow halal restaurant owner,I do understand that raising your prices during a peak season of business, especially in the month of Ramadan, will happen.However-What I did not understand,is why at $15 per head(plus tax),the food we ate was mediocre quality?Unnecessarily oily saalans, slightly cold potato like fry things, soggy french bread sandwiches, burnt naans in a few instances along with tough barbequed chicken?Come on,guys.Surely they can afford to prepare and serve better food. How do I know this?Because last year,my sister and brother in-law had their entire three day wedding event catered by this establishment. That food didn't suck-It was quite good, actually. But this buffet spread was not in the slightest bit appetizing.Taking advantage of the fact that people are hungry after fasting so long, then walking into your establishment to break their fast, and then serving them food they have no choice but to eat(because apparently, according to staff,"ordering off the menu would create confusions so it wasn't available" at the time,)should be a crime. My father and I are nursing terrible heartburn into the late night, after going to this place-Yippee.I would hope the owner of this restaurant reads this and understands that just prepping food, then getting it out to the line to get people to shutup and eat,is not how it works. If you can put love, effort, and quality ingredients into your catering because we paid you hundreds for it,you,as restaurant owners, should be able to put the SAME love, effort, and quality ingredients into a teeny tiny roti you sell for two dollars. And that's about it.Also,my sister choked on dry powder bits in the orange "Tang" like susbstance meant for drinking. P.S-Tips from a professional pastry chef;when preparing chocolate covered strawberries, use chocolate that doesn't taste like wax, don't use strawberries that are mushy and nearing fermentation, and don't dip/refridgerate them a day in advance. Take care, and have a heartburn free evening guys.

A group of us got food and shared it, we got the lamb beryani, mixed bbq, chicken curry, naan bread, mango lassi, potato samosas, and beef samosas. The food was really good, but the service was bad and slow. We got our naan bread after we finished our food. I would go there again and I would recommend it if you're not in a hurry.

Yesterday was my first time dining at this restaurant. Loved the taste. BBQ platter was fresh cooked. Curry tasted good. Goat biryani was ok. It was not that good as it should be. Food is overall better than other restaurants on Devon street. Little pricy though. Will visit again.

I'm a fan of this place. Their food is consistently good and their bbq dishes are always made dishes. For those who are uncertain about which bbq grilled items to purchase, just go with any of the platters so you have an idea of what some of the dishes taste like. I prefer their goat biryani, nihari, bihari kabobs, any of their grilled bbq chicken dishes, and their chicken karahi. There are some down sides to this establishment. They keep marking up the prices (their menus on their website are outdated so don't pay attention to the prices nor the offerings on the menu), and they have drastically cut many of their dishes off their menu which sucks because I liked many of their curries that they no longer have. I also ordered from Grubhub recently and did not get the free item that was promised with my order. Other than that, the service is fine, the place is clean, and the food is delicious.

Literally the best place on Devon, hands down! Not only is their food worth the wait, (especially the new items) but their service is definitely better compared to other desi restaraunts. Love the new lassis they have now, can't get over how good the peppermint one is! Just the perfect amount of to go with the spicy chicken boti. Definitely going back soon :)

We have been here twice, just because they have the most yummilicious bbq on Devon. This time we ordered 'Veg Pakoras' for the Appetizers. Huge quantity with big sizes and so tasty. We were pleasantly surprised to see and eat those pakoras. One of the bbq platters is always our choice of order. This time we also ordered their New 'T-bone Steak'. Unlike steaks at an American restaurant, this steak had flavor and although cooked well-done, it was not burnt and was very juicy. 'Masala Fries' comes with the steak which were too good. I'm lovin' this place!!

Anmol on Devon serves up some excellent food. Their lamb biryani is superb and their chicken makhani and garlic naan fantastic. They give a large portion for reasonable price. I ate my makhani with the biryani and it just tastes so damn good together. I want to run through their entire menu. Devon has so many great options for food and Anmol is up there with the best of them.

One word. AMAZING! Their ambiance, food, and service is great! Love the remodeling they did. Really gives the food justice. Their new lassies are definitely worth the try! (Especially the strawberry ) can't wait to go back

I guess I must be a rare exception, but I just don't get all the positive reviews for Anmol. Went over to Devon on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch before heading back to the burbs, and since my primary choice (Ghareeb Nawaz) was unexpectedly closed, I began my trek home until I saw this place with the OPEN sign lit. Saw all the great reviews on Yelp, so I decided to give it a whirl. The layout is open and surprisingly large for a Devon-based restaurant, but it was completely empty! I was the ONLY one there at 12:30pm, which was unusual, but I trusted Yelp so I stuck around. Ordered the combo #2 and a tandoori roti as the main course while munching on stale complimentary papad. The kabobs were tiny to say the least. My lamb chop was more like a lamb sliver, but it was tender so it had that going for it. Chicken shaslik was bland, tilapia tasted and smelled off, and the beef was overly spiced. Service was friendly and the place was clean, but for Devon dining, my bet is still Ghareeb.

This place is amazing! The food is super fresh, tasty, and the owner demands quality from the staff. The Kebabs, naan, and grilled entrees are fantastic. This is definitely our favorite spot at Devon. Our friends are hooked as well!

I read the reviews and went there yesterday. It is Ramadan time now and we were the only ones there. 0 customer service and I repeat 0. Those people need to learn how to behave and act when there are customers present. Total assholes. The food wasn't great at all. I went to khan bbq and Sabri nehari before and they serve much better customer service and food was amazing. I still tipped 18 percent but I will never go back there and recommend my friends there.

Man oh man, this place is the Mughlai bomb. All the dishes we ordered were fantastic, including goat biryani, various kababs, chicken mukhani, and kalonji (onion seeds) naan. Each was outstanding, and probably the closest I've ever had in the US to what you actually get in North India. Unfortunately, I haven't been to Pakistan so I can't speak to that - but Mughlai is Mughlai if you know what I mean... The chicken mukhani was really close to what you get in Delhi and Punjab more generally; tangy tomato cream with a rich layer of butter topping it off. Also, they make their own raita and chutneys, and they don't water them down like other places. The service was really nice and quite competent as well. The ambience, while not dirty, is kind of arbitrary and could use some work. However, no one should really consider the ambience at good Devon places so long as it's not dirty or unclean.

Listen to all the South Asian folks on Yelp! We know Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi food and we know the reality that most Indian restaurants in the U.S. have gone downhill in the last 20 years (or maybe this is just my attitude since I am old enough to remember the '80s and when South Asian food was exotic and it actually tasted like home ... or your grandma's cooking when you went back to Madras or Rawalpindi). I write all of this to say that Anmol is the fucking bomb! I have NEVER had kebabs and tandoor chicken this good in the United States - EVER - and I have lived and travelled all across this great land. The #1, #2 and #3 platters are awesome; the naans are enormous and flavorful; and the meat is halal. What more could you ask for? I have not eaten the curries (salan in Urdu), but the real star here is barbecue. Please enjoy all the flavorful kababs and you will not be sorry!

Second time ordering from Anmol (hey, my other half is out of town so I can eat what I like). This time I had nihari, paratha, and doodh dulari. I now understand why nihari is so popular. Meaty, spicy, flavorful, and rich, it's everything a comfort food should be. My order included two big chunks of boneless beef and a generous bowl of slightly thick sauce as well as a package of garnishes and salad. The beef was perfectly tender, easily shredded with a fork. The sauce is spicy, but the spiciness didn't overpower the other flavors (black pepper? Cardamom, cloves, onion). I added lemon and shredded ginger from the garnishes. Doodh dulari (custard enriched with jello, fruit, and milk-based sweets) reminds me of Midwestern potluck desserts, the difference being that doodh dulari actually tastes good. It's the kind of thing where you want to keep taking just another bite until you realize that you've eaten too much. I think Anmol is going to be my go-to place for nights when I don't want to cook. Next time: mutton!

This year Thanksgiving just snuck up on me and startled me half to death when I realized it was only 2 days away and I had not planned a gosh darn thing!! On Thanksgiving morning I scrambled to find a place where my dad, brother and I could have "Thanksgiving Dinner" and remembered that my Pakistani friend really loves this place. I thanked my lucky stars when I called and was told that they were, indeed, open! We got complementary papar (large crispy chips made from lentils) with 3 different sauces. We ordered veggie samosas, veggie biryani, nihari (personal recommendation from my Pakistani friend), tendoori chicken charga and naan. Everything was delicious - I especially loved the chicken, which was so tender and moist with just enough kick from the spices and the nihari was so flavorful and will be my go-to dish anytime I go back. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The servings are large and I had leftovers for the next 2 days...I am not into leftovers (when I was a kid my mom would make one huge meal for the entire week...it was culinary hell!), but I was so happy to have Anmol leftovers. We left with happy, full bellies and smiles on our faces. I will make this a Thanksgiving tradition...a stress-free Thanksgiving with superb Pakistani food.

Pleasantly surprised that the owner contacted me about my experience. Apologized and informed me they are working to remedy the temperature problem asap (very glad to hear that since we both wore our coats the entire time and my husband kept telling me he wanted to leave because he couldn't enjoy the food). Owner also offered a dining credit for next time. Given the good customer service (at least by the owner), willingness to address the issue, and excellent food, I'm most likely going to be back.

First time dining here last sunday with my hubby and mom in law.. We ordered malai chicken and platter number one with rice and naan... Malai chicken has the perfect blend of spices and its good for my mom in law who doesnt like spicy food.. Platter number 1 consist of mutton chops, grilled tilapia, chicken shaskik and bihari kabab.. Hubby said the mutton chops were great and i loved the fish and chicken but the bihari kabab was too spicy that would be my least favorite from the platter.. The service was good and the manager or owner keeps on checking on us if we need anything.. We will definitely be back coz among the other restaurants along devon this is probably one of the best.. Amazing food, Clean place and great service.. Definitely will try biryani next time..

Simply put, I would not go back to this place. The food took forever and still wasn't up to par. The grill platter which showed up after 35 mins. still had meat that was under cooked. When we told the waiter about it (and pointed this out to the owner too) they didn't seem to bat an eyelid. The gravies, one could tell, were reheated from the previous night. The meat was tough and was way overcooked in some instances. Read "canned sauces" in between the lines. Overall, nothing great. Just an ordinary joint that doesn't give its customers any reason to return. These guys might have been good in their hay day but have most certainly passed their prime. The above review does not even take into consideration the condition of the facility with an inch of grease on the floor and some on the tables too. Visited for lunch (2pm) on Monday May 25, 2015.

I've been here twice and the food quality has been consistent and good. This place has Pakistani/Indian Cuisine with decent appetizers, rice, barbecue and gravy dishes to choose from. The first time we ordered some chicken biryani, malai kababs and chicken tikka. The biryani was phenomenal and so were the malai kababs. The second time around I went there in Ramadan for a buffet layout and they had a very wide spread: salad, beef samosas (appetizer), pakoras (appetizer), chicken biryani, lamb gravy, mixed vegetables, chicken gravy handi, pizza, mutton gravy, naan, fruit chaat and some mixed fruit creamy custard! Everything was superb especially the lamb gravy, chicken biryani, samosas and the dessert. I'd recommend anyone to go there because of their consistent good quality and tasteful food. The only reason I gave it one less star is because they could do with some renovation of the restaurant. Besides that everything was good from the staff to the food.

This place is great for the delicacies it offers! The taste of biryani resembles exception.. The naans were the best I've had in Chicagoland.. We ordered chicken rolls with paranthas n they were juicy and super yum.. Their chutneys are fresh n lovely as well.. Go here for authentic Indo Paki flavors!

Updating my review! So, recently me and my husband went to Anmol again and yes I had to convince my husband a hundred times since we had some bad experience last time. We called Anmol to place our order and our order was taken by a very pleasant women. We arrived 20 minutes later and we were seated at our desired table. As we arrived we expected the server to bring their Papar (a thin paper like hard tortilla made from lentils which is deep fried I guess) with chutney but it was never served. So we had to request the Papar because the server (according to him) forgot to bring it. Now came our steaming hot Frontier Chicken Rice and Anmol's Platter #2. First on to the Frontier Rice: They were full of flavor, freshly tossed on the grill with good amount of Chicken and spices. My husband loved it who mainly ate it till the last bite. Second, Anmol's Platter #2: A very nice addition to their grill items is the new sizzler. Love love and love it. We were amazed when the platter arrived in the sizzler. It was steaming hot and we could hear the sound of our sizzling food from far away when the server was bringing our plate plus the smoke that was coming out was enough to excite us both. Flavor-wise the platter was as expected ( which means very good). We tried their bihari kababs too and they were delicious and their Dood Dulehri ( a milk syrup sweet with ras malai, cham cham, fruits and jelly ) was good too. The only draw back this very day was that our waiter wasn't very welcoming even though we were the only people to dine in around that time. Good thing is that the Pakistani lady on the counter was very nice and kept asking us about our experience which ultimately did not make the server look so bad.

My first experience was the best, subsequent visits had me wondering what I liked initially. Isn't that how experiences tend to go? At that first dining, it was a weekday afternoon lunch for two. The restaurant was dead. Their sole server was ours and everything hit the table a little after the quoted time. About a thirty minute wait for the main courses and about a fifteen minute wait for the appetizers. Most of the food tasted good but was terribly bland. When I dine on Indo/Paki food I expect it to be spicy, not sweat-from-my-head-down-to-my-feet spicy but some kick. There wasn't any kick. Also I should note that the kabab roll was wrapped tightly. (Only in India have I had kabab or curry wraps and rolls done perfectly tight.) Here, I haven't met an Indo/Pak that can roll that tight, so I inquired and learned there are Mexican dudes back there reheating food and rolling the kabab rolls. That's cool. You know what speaks volumes to me, how correct some of the good and bad reviews are but how users have chosen to tick whether it was useful, funny or cool. A few of the bad reviews which give details that confirm my experiences here are tagged as "funny". Nothing funny about them but they are glimpses into poor service and unsatisfactory taste conditions. For having traditional Pakistani food made from true Pakistani people with original recipes, this is awesome. Not a detail found in many of these caliber hotels on Devon Ave. But some dishes are not prepared on the spot and because they do not share detail about whether they are or aren't, this creates confusion and irritation with their customers. I've seen some "Kitchen Nightmare" type experiences, like the inability of their staff to give a clear heads up to the customer. A family of six dining at 9:30 pm on a weekend, they were told food would arrive in about twenty minutes. The family had a few small children, most restaurants with (family minded) servers know that children need to have something put in front of them. When I entered the restaurant to dine it was fifty minutes after they ordered and appetizers hit the table, their main course would arrive at the same time my orders did which was about a 1/2 hour after seating. Can you imagine how irritated a Mom of four children could be? Oh she was bitching. Was there anyone to answer her you ask, no. Rather than offer explanation, they were combative. I like the fresh taste and interesting flavors, however spice lacks and that is a turn off. Even when trying entrees recommended by their waitstaff because of kick or spice level, it just wasn't. Their BBQ is a must and is priced well. Curries are tasty for spice virgins but the pricing is a tad too high, in my opinion. Shrimp masala is a hell no. Seriously, using cocktail skrimps to make the dish.. psshaw. For being one of their higher priced curries, they should be using fresh shrimp. The restaurant is usually patronized by Muslims and food is Zabiha halal. Per the menu the chicken is organic raised by the Amish. For those hardcore Muslim folk, they offer privacy screens so that the ladies can eat with privacy. Also, they have a fly problem. A few annoying gnat flies are present and they should take care. If management is reading, please contact your local MRO rep i.e. Grainger and ask them about options.

First time ordering for delivery. Chicken makhani is good but not served with rice and no option to purchase it separately (when there was no option, I incorrectly assumed it came with). Also, tiniest samosas ever. Not sure that I'll order from here again considering $20 minimum and $5 delivery. Better options for $25 ( for one person). Updates to 2 stars. Can't get past the samosas in ohyllo dough

My new favorite go-to place. I googled, yelped and went down the list of Indian restaurants in West Rogers Park and came up with little to point me to the best place to order some good grilled, curried or baked chicken. Anmol was simply the first restaurant that offered delivery for less than $20 minimum and served meat. I took a chance and called them. They are a Pakistani restaurant but the dish I ordered had the seasonings and cooking styles that reminded me of Indian cooking. I Ordered at 8:00 and they were very helpful although I don't think the person who took my order was experienced at it. Though it went a bit slow, he was very polite so I didn't hold it against him. I ordered the platter #2 on the site since I wanted chicken to go with a vegan black-eyed pea curry I'd made. The food came about an hour later from a gentleman who called me first for directions to my building. Apparently he was not familiar with my block. I am right in their neighborhood so I don't think they are used to delivering food, but he was very nice as well. Anyway the food: that random on a spur call was the best gamble I'd made in a while. I'm only familiar with the most popular of Indian dishes like Tandoori and Vindaloo - so these were pleasant surprises each meat was cooked expertly - tender, well-seasoned and fragrant. I only tried the mint yogurt chutney since my curry was spicy and the chicken had a bit of a kick. I also ordered rice and naan. The rice was fantastic! I've never had basmati rice that good: fragrant, no stickiness and just darned good all by itself. Garlic naan was my other starch and it was as good as the rice. I ended up eating myself into a near coma. I will visit this place next, now that I know about it. I'd love to see the food presented in the restaurant: the pictures look mouth-watering and I'm saying that after I just stuffed myself.. Highly recommended!

I recently had their Tandoori Chicken Chargha - it was so good I went back again! Tender, juicy, not too spicy and sooooooooooooo flavorful! Make sure you get it cut into pieces - they always ask you anyway but just in case. I'll be stopping by again today for the haleem...keep it up guys!

Hey my foodie friends, Here is my experience at this place. I ordered Platter 1 which had all kinds of yummy meat from fish, beef to chicken. It is good that they give green and red chutney because the platter was bit dry but its all bbq so I loved it. the issue that i might know the owner is not a good reason to not share my experience at this place. Im a people person I get to know shop owner if I enjoy there service and products. As a word of caution if you think they might serve food as fast as McDonald does in less than 60 seconds then you will be disappointed here. They make fresh food from fresh ingredients, That's what I love about this place. Just order food if you dining in and enjoy the appetizer while they prepare food for you. BTW, I love there Mango Lassi. Sweet and smooth. yummy. I normally order Nihari from them as to-go.

Food is not consistent. I heard good reviews on This restaurant. I wanted to give it a try so I order nihari from here and it was filled with salt. And the after letting it pass by once I decided to give it another shot since I didn't want to drive ll the way down to usmania. Well It was disappointing when it a happened again. The frontier rice is always a good choice to have. The customer service is GreaT !!

Anmol has one of the best customer service at devon. There food is great as well. My personal favorites are their nihari and chicken makhni. They do a decent job on chai and naan as well. Even though the restaurant is not very fancy, they always make you feel very welcomed. If you ever have a complain they handle it very well. For Example, once my nihari was not as perfect as I expect from Anmol. I called in all upset. The person on phone did not argue with me like many restaurants on devon would. He apologized and told me my next nihari order would be on the house. Of course, I never asked for it but them saying that told me that they value my business. So I am there regular ever since. Try them out!

Bahut achay. Bahut shukriya. Try the House Specialty when you are in the West Devon (or just West of California) neighborhood. For lunch today, I ordered the Bihari Kabab and my friend ordered Seekh Kabab plate, and we had enough to share and enjoy lunch together, lots of food and laughter....even though my friend, Umeeera never showed up. It was delicious, spicy, and sweet. Fan For Ever. I love Anmol BBQ, 2858 W. Devon.

My wife and I tried this place after it was recommended to us from close friends. This restaurant is a bit farther than all the other Devon Ave. restaurants. The set-up is intimate and nothing too fancy. Their service is also good. The food here was really good. The only thing I would complain about is the prices. The prices were a bit high for the food we ordered. It seems a bit expensive when you pay $3 for ONE seekh kabab. The other dishes we ordered were tasty and their naan were also fresh and delicious. Moving on, this past Ramadan Eid we visited this place again with friends on the day of Eid. We walk in and there was a buffet set up. At first I was skeptical since this place has never had a buffet and we never tried a buffet here. Let me say, we were in delicious shock! Yes, the food was amazing. Their chicken biryani, haleem, and malai chicken were absolutely delicious. The paneer dish was one of my favorite along with their meat lasagna. If they keep this buffet thing up, we will definitely be going back more often...as long as the food is just as fresh and tasty as that day.

So this place is more about BBQ than the other stuff. The nihari and naan is better at sabri. I really enjoyed the chicken pakoras, lamb chops and Sikh kabob. The tandoori charga wasn't bad either. Just be prepared for a long long wait after u order. The food takes 30 to 40 minutes to come out.

Started eating here when they first opened and it was great and it was always my first option on a restaurant on Devon but for the last 4 months they have been going downhill. They are still great for their grilled selection but the entrees are awful. They have moved to my last resort list after the food i got last week. It has no flavor and its greasy to the max.

I used a daily Groupon as an excuse to get us over to Anmol for lunch. Having checked out the menu before we came, I had a pretty strong sense that this was going to be a meaty mcmeat-meat kind of lunch and I was correct. We each ordered a barbecue platter. Mine had Tandoori chops (meh), grilled fish (quite good), chicken shashlik (very good and tender) and Bihari Kabob (tender and very spicy). Christopher had a platter with Malai Boti, Hara Bhara Chicken, Kastoori Chicken, Chicken Gola Kabab, and Beef Gola Kabab. The best was the Hara Bhara Chicken. It was made with mint, and was very tasty. The other items were good too, but the Hara Bhara was a stand out for him. We also ordered garlic naan, which was good, but pretty typical of what we have had other places. The papadums and veggie platter with sauces that come with the meal were good. To be honest, I was glad we had them because we had to wait a very long time for our food. I get and appreciate that everything is cooked fresh to order, but my one issue that keeps me from giving it 4 stars was that there really could have been more attention paid to the table. We sat for long stretches of time with no one checking up on us, and there was only one other table of customers in the whole place. I will try Anmol again because I really enjoyed the food, but I think I may opt for carry out because we did not really enjoy the dining in experience.

I went with a group of people and the group leader ordered all of the food. I have no idea what any of the dishes are called on the menu. The veggie samosas were fantastic, as was the naan. There was a chicken dish with an orange sauce that I think was butter chicken, very tasty. A vegetarian rice dish. Also tasty. And a meat platter with some spicy meats and fish. Very tasty. They were very accommodating to our group of about 12 or 15. Would definitely go again.

Yum! I'm no expert when it comes to Pakastani food but I am an expert on what is delicious. The food I've had at Anmol most certainly is delicious. -1 star because the prices seem a bit high. They also messed up our takeout order without seeming too concerned when we went back to claim our missing samosas.

Had day off from work and decided to take a drive to Anmol. I drove by a couple of times, but never went in until this afternoon. I am glad I did. I don't know why people are so into decor. I go for the quality of food not so much decor. The place is clean, and the guy at counter was sweet and very helpful. I was dining alone so I didn't want to get a whole plate of meat. I was recommended the lamb biryani and it was delicious. The amount of biryani for the money is worth it because I had leftovers for the next day. I was a bit full to try the desserts, the kulfi, kheer and halwa look so tempting. I will probably go for a light dinner and dessert next time. Is that possible? The chai is yummy and good way to end your meal. Anyhow, service was polite, food was great. I will go back for sure.

Love the food. Chicken Karahi my special plate. I love spicy food, whenever I visit this location I ask them to make it cotta spicy and they do:) The environment is great and the staff is very friendly. I totally recommend this restaurant! I want my chicken karahi!!!! Yum!

There isn't quite as much commotion west of California on Devon. It's a bit quieter and you've passed about 4,000 Indo-Pak places if you started going west from Ridge. So it is easy to miss Anmol. I know I did for a long while. My loss really. This food is quality. We split a BBQ platter that contained 4 different chicken dishes and a beef dish, as well as a dish of chicken makhani. The BBQ platter had a couple of winners and nothing that was anything less than good. The makhani was excellent. When we ate it at dinner it was mildly spicy. The next day at lunch it had grown into a bully with a much deeper heat, slapping my tongue around and giving it a wedgie. My tongue being something of a masochist enjoyed every minute of it. The thing that struck me though about Anmol was... How can I say this without sounding like an awful person? Most places on Devon it is well known that the service runs at a different pace than in your typical American restaurant. The pace is slower, less vigilant about attending to the customer at all times. And this seems to be accepted by most patrons. Anmol doesn't roll like that. Our waiter was highly engaged, and it was his rec that sent us to the makhani, for which I am grateful. Nothing about the service was anything but first-rate. For what we paid I'm quite happy with the amount of food we got. I'm recommending Anmol without reservation. Get there, let them take care of you, and you will be happy with the results.

Get ready to fast even it is not ramzan. Ok, here is the positive part - the food, if and when it arrives, is good. But, you may end up waiting forever. First time I had to wait about 30 min. Today, I was there for 45min before the waiter came to inform that they did not have the appetizer we order. We were a table of 4 and there were probably another 10 customers in the restaurant. So, highly unlikely that he forgot about us. Anyway, at that point I decided I had enough, left the place, got into my car, stopped at McDonald's drive thru, where they had my order in 45 secs. So, unless you have lot of time to kill and nothing better to do avoid this place.

Still love this place, nothing has changed. Amazing Pakistani food! I came here so often with my boyfriend that the owners and servers know us. During Ramadan we were dining there, the only non Muslims there yet they still greeted us and gave us our table.

One of the best Indo/Pak places to eat in Illinois. Consistently clean, and the food is simply delicious. I also like the fact that it is a bit away from the crazy traffic of Devon.

I either have bad luck with Indian restaurants or I have something written on my forehead to treat me horrible. We ordered our food which came out a hour later. The server completely forgot about us and the food was mediocre. They even forgot to bring our check to the table, had to go up and pay. I gave up on Indian restaurants, save yourself time and take it to go.

The boyfriend and I were in the mood for some curry and I suggested we try this newish place I'd seen on Devon. We were very pleased with the results. We wandered in at about 4:30 on a Saturday and at first we had the place to ourselves, however, more people came in as we dined. When we sat down the wait-staff brought us papadams with three sauces, sweet tamarind, yogurt-mint and tamarind cilantro and a platter of cucumbers, tomatoes onions and lettuce. We ordered the #1 and #3 platters which were $12 each. Platter #1 consisted of 2 tandoori goat chops, a nice fillet of tandoori spiced fish, 2 Chicken shashlik kebabs and some very spicy (beef) Bihari. Platter #3 consisted of Malal Boti (chicken breast marinated in spices, ginger, garlic & lemon juice), Hara Bhara (chicken breast marinated in green herbs & spices), Kastoori (chicken breast in a mildly spicy sauce) and beef and chicken Golas(2 each). Golas are ground meat mixed with onions, garlic, & spice etc and made into a cutlet and cooked on a kebab. The chicken gola was yogurt mint & cilantro and the beef had jalapenos in it. So, both of these items were probably the most spicy of the items we tried. Now, I LOVE spicy and hot food, but it strikes me that some might find so many spicy cuts of meat a bit overwhelming at one time. However, we DID order the assortment of lots of spicy bbq'd kebabs, so we knew what we were getting ourselves into. Staff was excellent about making sure our water glasses were kept full, which we appreciated as we completed our meal. This is really a carnivore's paradise. They serve goat, mutton, chicken, beef, shrimp, and organ meats. Still, vegetarians can enjoy the dining there too, as there were at least 6 non-meat dishes (curries & appetizers), and several types of naan, paratha and kulcha. The plain Naan is no longer free with a meal ($1 a person) but the helpings are generous. The meat here is Halal, which I'd never had before. I've heard some people say that such can be dry and tasteless, but I didn't find that to be the case. Also, the chicken is organic and hand-fed by Amish farmers. We both agreed that the chicken was extremely tender and succulent but the best dish was the fish fillet. The service was good, as I mentioned before. In fact, I heard one of the other diners complain that his food was cold, and they promptly brought him a brand-new steaming-hot dish of food, with no quibbles. The decor was a trifle spartan, but given the quality of the food, I didn't mind it. We were very happy with the portions, (ended up taking half of it home) and walked out of the place stuffed and happy. I'm definitely recommending it to my friends.

My new favorite desi place to eat! Chicken from Amish country is from out of this world! I am not sure why it's called bar b Que cause their palak/chicken is the best I've ever had!

Anmol is a rare gem and relative newcomer on the pakistani culinary landscape. The ambience is typical but what sets Anmol apart from the others is the homemade style cooking. Most pakistani restaurants are losing their quality and substituting "shan" masala mix for a majority of their dishes. I judge a indo pak restaurant on three items: mutton biryani, chicken boti and chana daal. Mutton biryani was awesome. Nice mix of spices and generous portions of meat. Chicken boti was flavorful and tender. The best I ever had in my life. Chana daal was simply good. A nice compliment to any dish.

Recently joined a group for dinner at Anmol. Having eaten Indian food before, Pakistani sounded similar. My fellow diners were happy to explain some basic differences between the styles. We ordered the combo platters, na'an, and a couple sides. The food was tasty. The space was casual and open which lends itself to larger group seating. The service was friendly, attentive, and not rushed. With conversation flowing the result was a pleasant dining experience with new friends.

I wasn't expecting much from Anmol. The boyfriend and I were hungry so we played the "random restaurant on Yelp" game. Fortunately, we won this time. The first thing I noticed - it was crackin'. The restaurant was almost completely full of people having a good time, lots of families and large groups. The food looked and smelled delicious, and even better, everyone looked like they enjoying it. Time to throw down. The second thing I noticed - the employees were EXTRA nice. They greeted us with sincere smiles, and really, I mean really, seemed happy that we were dining there. Even though they didn't seem to need our business much, they treated us like we were Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Third thing - prices are cray cray status cheap. We went a little HAM on ordering and we ended up being comatose full without burning a huge hole in our wallets. Next - the food. is. delicious. We ordered an Anmol Platter, Chicken Biryani, Onion Kulcha, and Chicken Pakora. Everything was well cooked and full of flavor. The Chicken Biryani was pretty spicy, but still delish. Like I said, I wasn't expecting much. Look up "no frills" in the dictionary and there's a picture of Anmol. White walls, plain tables and chairs that look like they were bought at a hardware store and DASSIT ("that's it" for those who don't speak Maurica Rodriguez). But the food, prices, and service wil keep me coming back again, and again, and again.

Some of the best Mid-East BBQ I have ever had, no joke. My friend had a restaurant.com coupon so we checked it out. Let's just say that we left as happy campers. We ordered two BBQ plates: platters of delicious meaty heaven. Their selection in general is vast and prices are great. Last time I checked there is still a restaurant.com coupon for Anmol; I bought one. You should too.

Unassuming by decor/sign, but don't be fooled. the food here is easily the best on Devon! The grilled items are delicious, naan is warm and buttery. Best dish? Butter chicken. Wow. Chicken and mutton karahi were delicious as well. Go to Anmol, you won't be disappointed.

We tried Anmol after our friends recommended it. This place is THE place on Devon street for Tandoori/BBQ styled platters. We tried one of the platters and the meat was done well with the perfect amount of spices. We would definitely go back for the platters. We also tried their chicken biryani and thought it could have been better but then it maybe because of our own taste and texture preferences. We like biryani a little more dryer or less moist than it was. We tried gajar ka halwa for desert and it was amazing! (warning: the calories in it is equivalent to a whole meal though so make sure you share it :))). And the service, by desi standards, the service was exceptional 10/10. They were very courteous and always checking on you. We would go back just for the service.

    1) it is a little bit far away from the whole Devon Brownies scene. 2) the decor is simple yet elegant enough. 3) Clean bathrooms and servers We ordered 2 platters of BBQ, Brain masala, Frontier chicken, Daal Gosht (its lentils with meat), and Nihari.....The food took longer than expected but they claimed that it was due to the fact that they make everything fresh, and truth be told except the Nihari everything must have been half cooked otherwise it would take a couple of hours to make this stuff.... Anywho, the bbq was good, the frontier chicken and Nihari were A-Ok, I've had a LOT better Daal Gosht but the thing that struck me the most was that the Brain Masala actually had a Fishy smell to it, I'm guessing since they make the Brain Masala practically in the same dish as they fry fish it got some of that smell in there as well....All in all the food wasn't bad, but a bit pricey.....for a $100 I can cook for an army!!!!

I was directed to Anmol by a very nice taxi driver who told me about this place after I mentioned I wanted to try different cultural foods, and I gotta say I'm glad he told me about this place. . I went with some buddies of mine and we weren't sure on what we should try and our waiter recommended some Onion Kulcha for appetizers that was absolutely delicious. They even provide a spicy red sauce that I found myself drenching everything in. . NOW ON TO THE MAIN COURSE!!! the food was Deeelicious!! and a bonus is that they can make it SPICY (droll)...I recommend the Mutton Briyani (goat with rice), or If you want to try a wide variety of their menu then the platters are for you, which contain all sorts of meats on them. I must mention the Tandoori Charga a chicken dish that was soooo good and moist (as I'm writing this I'm starting to crave it). . What more can I say this place, at first was intimidating but quickly became an enjoyable experience with some amazing food.

Came here with the fams and we all enjoyed the great grilled meats they offered. The place isn't fancy in the decor department but it was still nice and clean. I would specifically point out that their grilled stuff alone is worth coming back for. The biryani we tried left something to be desired. Even if it's just a little further from all the other joints, it's still a great addition to the desi corridor on Devon.

Sorry to be a downer but out experience at Anmol was not up to the hype here on Yelp. The food was good, but nothing to rave about, you can get better nehari and larger portion at Sabri and better Kabobs at Khan BBQ. Portions were also on the smaller side compared to other places. The real kicker was they had a coupon on a Muslim version of Groupon that they gave us problems about. We called ahead and asked if we had it on our phone, was that okay? We were told yes as long as it was an iPhone (since it is not an app, I don't see why it matterd) but we had an iPhone. When paying we were told it was only good for certain hours, which was not stated on the coupon. Then told we needed to print it out, we called in and it was okay. Then told you could not pay with a credit card. DON'T OFFER COUPONS/DISCOUNTS IF YOU DO NOT HONOR THEM. And even after the discount it was still more than Sabri??? Needless to say we will not be back, anyone want my other coupons???

I am always super nervous with a restaurant that has used restaurant.com coupons and Groupons. This is usually a red flag and warning to avoid - I was proven very wrong with Anmol. Take out review: We went with the Chicken Chargu which is a whole chicken (Amish) basted with delicious spices, garlic and ginger (kind of similar to the flavor of tandoori chicken) and for around $15 with tax is a great buy. You can have the chicken fried or done on the tandoor, running with the fried. The chicken also came with a super basic green salad and some tasty sauces. The service was warm and efficient. I would advise to call in orders in advance as the preparation time is quite long.

La'aama!! Anmol is the hidden gem on Devon. My friend and I don't go to barhopping, but Indian restaurant hopping on Devon because we are so awesome. La'aama! Anmol BBQ has the best Chicken Makhani ever!!!! Also known as BC. I also HIGHLY recommend the Chicken Charga...a perfectly seasoned rotisserie/fried chicken. Their customer service is great...and very polite manager. I'll never go to another place again. BC4Life. Ali is my BFF. La'aama!

The restaurant and ambiance is minimal. We had to wait for some time to pickup our food but it was well worth it. There are not too many Pakistani restaurants on Devon so this was a welcome surprise. We had Anmol Platter #3. Except for chicken gola kabab everything was good. We ordered chicken handi also which was good also. Another bonus point for dining in is that they serve unlimited Nans.

I haven't had good desi food in a very very long time (providence, ri is pretty terrible on that front). I came here on a friend's recommendation and it was amazing. I had the chicken makhani and the mutton biryani...the chicken makhani was so good I didn't even touch the biryani we had at our table (though the biryani seemed to be pretty great too from what others at the table were saying). Highly recommended and very nice people.

Being a huge fan of Indian and Pakistani cuisine I tend to head to Devon quite often. After discovering Anmol from a recommendation of a friend and restaurant.com , I fell in love. I've went there about 10 times at this point, and it's always my #1 choice for going out to eat. The top dishes I get are are 1) Chicken 65 2) Chicken Boti 3) Chicken Biryani 4) Chicken Frontier Rice All the deserts and appetizers I've had did not disappoint, especially the Kheer, delish! I'm a bit biased because I like chicken more than red meat. :-) But, I do have to mention that their chicken is Organic from an Amish farm, which is a huge plus and another major reason why I love eating here. The above mentioned the dishes because they are always a winner. Wasn't too much of a fan of the Karahi and chicken tikka there, but I still give the restaurant 5 stars because with the dishes I order I'm always extremely happy. Portions are very generous and I always come home with leftovers. Lucky me, I get to eat Anmol 2 days in a row! :-)

After hearing good reviews from friends, we finally tried out Anmol today. We went around 6 pm Monday evening and the restaurant had no patrons besides just one couple. It's on the west side of Devon with not much going on around the area, so we were a little skeptical when entering thinking maybe those reviews were over-hyped. Well we couldn't be more wrong. After much debate, we decided to go with two combination platters. The wait was minimal and food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. What can I say? Everything was just delicious. The BBQ meats were tender and flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy. And the portions were huge! I think between two people one combination platter is just enough and maybe a vegetarian option with that. The combination platter have different varieties of kebabs and grilled meats. Each and everything was perfectly done. Service was excellent as well with our server checking on us regularly without being overbearing. I think Anmol takes the cake over many other 'well-known' Pakistani restaurants on Devon. Their drawback is their location. I wouldn't have known the restaurant existed had it not been for the word of mouth. I feel if the word gets out enough they would have a line out the door. Food is good, service is good....you can't say that a lot for many Indian/Pakistani restaurants. Definitely give it a try- you wouldn't regret it. A bonus- since its far away from all the hustle bustle of Devon street, parking is really easy to find.

By far the best place to eat Pakistani food. Try their chicken makhani you won't be disappointed. Nice clean environment and reasonable prices. Oh and don't forget to order tea from here. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

It's a bit off the path, but I really liked it here. I came with a restaurant.com gift certificate, so the food ended up being very inexpensive. The GC allowed us to try various dishes without breaking the bank. I liked everything I tried, and the garlic naan was heavenly. Their service was friendly and you could tell the owners take pride in their work. I'd return again without a GC.

So my brother found out about Anmol from a couple of friends and am i glad he did! Being a desi (South Asian) i would know about good Pakistani food and boy a boy this is the best it can get... well on Devon at least. I have probably been here 6 to 7 time dine in and to go well i think i have lost count, well to tell the truth i just fail at math. But every time we have been here we have always ordered there Platter 2 which includes seekh kabab, reshmi kabab, chicken tikka, chicken boti, and chicken wing! Mhmm.. just makes my mouth water thinking about it. Over all there Chicken Biryani is the best i have tasted so far, there Karahi Chicken is delicious and there Naan is just too good. I would recommend this food to everyone yes even if your not desi it's excellent.

I heard this is the place to come to for Paki BBQ in Chicago. I came here with 4 adults and a baby. The food is on the cheaper side for Paki/Indian restuarants which tends to be overpriced, in my opinion. The nihari was tasty, which we were a bit surprised by since we weren't expecting good nihari at a bbq place. Make sure to order naan to go with your bbq and dig in to the bone-in chicken. We asked if we could get white meat but the waiter said they couldn't do that...The baby became fussy half way through dinner but none of the diners seemed to mind. Def. a family freindly place.

One of the quieter and nicer restaurants on Devon, probably because it's several blocks west of the main Indian / Pakistani area of Devon St. Prices are not much higher than most. My only concern is that it never seems too busy, and I hope they can keep it afloat because the food is great. Their Bihari kabobs are particularly good; many restaurants miss on this dish. Another thing that sets them apart is service - many of the Devon street sit-down restaurants have subpar waiter service, but Anmol servers are very attentive. Nice work guys, keep it up!

We got the grilled malai chicken kabobs, karhai gosht and chicken 65. The food was very good but the biryani was a letdown. It was so bland. Place is nice. The waiters hover around you way too much and this place has a heating problem. But other than that its pretty good

Excellent food. Fresh, clean, delicious, very well prepared. The only issue was that they took a really long time to prepare the food. I prefer they take their time and do it right, but it just indicates a lack of organization when they take so long. We do keep going back because it really is very good food. Lots of meat dishes.

I came to this restaurant on one warm summer night last year. I had never been to an Indian restaurant before and wasn't sure what to expect. DISCLAIMER: jaywalking on Devon is SCARY- be careful! My one cultured friend took care of all the ordering; we had chicken biryani, chicken tikka, and of course, the legendary NAAN. The first thing I noticed as a n00b was obviously all the spices that are used and how spicy the food was! Thank God for my ice water! I am a chicken-a-holic and was in love with both dishes. Chicken biryani is essentially yummy Indian fried rice. I also ate the naan as if it was water. The chicken tikka was my favorite; they were chicken wings that were red hot spicy. Also, the service here is spectacular; there are waiters literally waiting for us to finish eating to clear our tables. All in all, I am now on a mission to explore Indian cuisine and will definitely be returning!

Anmol isn't much to look at on the inside of the restaurant which is the case for most of the restaurants on Devon but it isn't ugly. For everything lost in that regard the food and service make up for it and then some. I had the number 2 platter which was a great. Very flavorful and large enough for two if you have an appetizer and a few of their fantastic naan. Prices are very reasonable and you leave full and happy. The front man Sonny is a great host. Getting to basics, have the Palak Paneer. It was much more than I had expected from this Indi-Pak staple dish. The Chicken Kahari was also awesome. I should've got a side of basmati to go. Check it out. I'll be back soon for certain.

Once you enter, it really is a downer. The decor is really depressing and it's really lonely. I've been there a couple of times. On a regular day for lunch, it's stranded. But when you go for dinner, it gets filled up a little.I went there for iftar recently and it literally felt like I was standing in a fish market. It is really small and there were waiters passing around us, people talking loudly, and food dropping. I highly rave about the food and it's amazing. I definelty recommend the chicken pakora! They are absolutely amazing! I can eat so many! They are perfectly crunchy and delicously warm! Their food is great but the inside decor needs some help.

This is a place which has really awesome food. Try the Chicken Charga that come in 2 different styles. It happens to be the Signature Dish of this place. The fact that it is made to order, it takes a lil while for the magic to happen in the kitchen but believe me it is truly worth the wait. Getting a table can be an adventure on the weekends because of this place becoming "Da Joint" to go to in the city for authentic Desi Taste. So a recommendation of having patience and being in an upbeat mood is a definite must. Try booking a table in advance & the best TIP to the wise is to place the order before you arrive so it is ready to serve soon after being seated. Try ordering the Platter #1 it is a great deal. The "Naan" is perfectly baked in the tandoor and made just right to melt in your mouth with tasty dishes like Butter Chicken and Frontier Meat to really light up your taste buds with utter delight. The next time you are thinking of trying a new place try this place and tell the wonderful host's Akbar & Ashraf that "Yousuf Bhai" has sent you and I am sure they will treat you really well. Be patient and have fun!

When this place opened up a while ago it was great, prices were good and portions were good and taste was good. As the years went by the prices have skyrocketed to Sabri Nehari standards. Most items were $7.95 to $8.95 such as Chicken Mukni (butter chicken). Now everything is $9.99-$11.00 for a dish and does not include nan(bread) rice or anything. The taste was amazing as well, I use to love the chicken boti recently I had it again and its just like any other place now, instead of using spices and taste they smother it so much chilli it's so damn spicy u can't taste anything and just burn your mouth. Adding a crap load of spices and chilli does not make it taste better!!!! a few years ago this place was a easy 4 stars now with the decline in taste, portion size and increases in prices it just gets 2 stars...
