We've ordered from Anastazja a couple of times and the food has been very good. However, our most recent order never got to us. We waited until 10 minutes after the delivery time had elapsed and called the restaurant. As soon as we mentioned the online service that we used to place the order the call disconnected. Repeated attempts to call back were met with endless dial tones. We finally got in touch with the online service we used to place the order and cancelled. This happened an hour after the original delivery time. If the restaurant had called us or let us know there would be a delay, we would have either waited or cancelled and tried again another day. In either case they could have avoided this review.

Me? I like to eat like cholesterol and heart disease are but myths so, obviously, I love Polish food. Driving by Anastazja Restaurant on repeated trips to Century Tile down the street, I couldn't resist and had to stop in. I was surprised by what a pretty (and spotless, I've never seen such a clean restaurant) room it was as in the Polish joints I typically frequent, atmosphere is a desultory afterthought. On an late weekday afternoon, the husband and I were the only patrons, and were taken care of quickly. Fun side note - this is clearly a family operation, our waitress was sitting with her mother and sleeping son in a quiet corner of the restaurant when we walked in. Mom seems to double as the cook, a positive sign under any circumstances. I had mushroom soup and pirogi, the husband had chicken soup and goulash. Fresh bread and drinks were brought out promptly. Although they do not have liquor, this is a BYOB, and the waitress said no corkage fees, so yay on that! My soup was incredible, rich, creamy, full of noodles & mushrooms and clearly homemade. I'm going to have dreams about that soup, it was that good. The husband's chicken soup was fine, but just couldn't stand up to my mushroom soup. Pirogis (you can get a mix of two flavors and they have about 8 on the menu) were very good, but were oddly served without sour cream. What? No extra fat on my plate? For reals? Sigh. In any case, there was a dark sauce (Maggi?) on the table for dipping them in, so that worked out. Made from scratch, the dumpling part was great but the fillings were a tad on the bland side. Still, pretty damned tasty. The husband's goulash (served with a choice of two types of dumplings or rice) was incredible - dumplings were fresh and from scratch, meat was tender, sauce was rich, and the fresh dill over the top was quite nice. A bit pricey for a Polish restaurant ($2.00 per soda, average entree about $12.00) but a beautiful room, BYOB, good food, and a family run operation. Even if I have to bring my own sour cream next time, I'll be back. I think I might be that mushroom soup's bitch.

Went here with another couple after reading a couple of Yelp reviews and thought we would try it. Wow, this place is definitely a keeper! We were there on a Sunday evening and the only people in the place, but I don't know why because the food was wonderful; the service delightful. We brought a couple of bottles of wine and a few beers for the boys (BYOB!) and even after eating food for about 3 hours straight, we still brought home enough for plenty of seconds. The mushroom soup was amazing, the pierogi (mixed plate) were about the best ever, and the goulash with potato pancake was not only an entire platter of delectable meat and the best (and largest!) two potato pancakes I ever had, but my husband's pork shank with spinach and cheese was great. Then we had Anastazja cake - whoa! And for the four of us, the bill amounted to about $17 each - I felt almost guilty eating that much wonderful food for so little money ... but we did leave a good tip for our oh-so-sweet waitress. Definitely coming back!

I would highly recommend this delightful restaurant to anyone living or working in close proximity. I went there for lunch on the last Tuesday of last June only because I happened to be in the area. What a treat! The place was clean and attractive enough. All tables were covered with nice linen. A flat-screen blared a Polish soap opera. An ethnic Chicago atmosphere. A young, sweet waitress greeted me and I ordered the salmon. She offered a choice of salad. I selected some sort of 'slaw plate' which had 3 different Polish slaws, each as good as the other. When she served my filet of salmon, I could see that it was in fact a swordfish steak (gotta lose a star), but it looked good. It was delicious! As to sauces, they only had BBQ sauce, so I asked for butter. I was amazed at how something as simple as melted butter on parsley potatoes and fish could taste so good. It was about $15 with tax and tip for a delectable, authentic meal. Will definitely go back!

I was held my mother's 50th birthday here and we were told all the wonderful things we were going to get like the decor and balloons and we were shown wonderful pictures of it all. When we actually got there the day of we were really disappointed- we were given a tiny table with other tables squished against us no balloons and the chair covers were wrinkled and torn. The waitresses were very pleasant in the beginning but showed a lot of attitude toward the end. There's a 15% charge from the total price that was applied toward the final price- which is good for the staff since most people don't tip but bad for customers because the staff no longer cares about bringing customer service to the table. We were supposed to get free refills on alcohol and beverage- it came with the total price yet they ran out of vodka (after the FIRST bottle and if you know anything about a polish family event you'll know we're never satisfied with one bottle- besides that we had 15 people sharing it!) However she (the owner who not even once came to check on us despite just lounging by the bar) didn't care much about the dilemma and didn't even take a portion of the price down. We also didn't get to take the leftovers home which was kind of odd because everywhere you pay for the food you usually get to take it home. At the end we asked for containers to at least take the appetizers home and when I went to the back to ask for them I overheard the waitresses talking smack about our table and how we were asking for too much (we had cold coffee delivered and asked for another pot then they forgot the creamers so that was another trip and when we were trying to cut the cake we noticed they hadn't given us a knife just left the cake on the table, on top of that we were given plastic plates- to some people it might seem petty that I complain about this but this was supposed to be a banquet Hall event and my mother's 50th and for the price and circumstances they provided I damn well didn't expect plastic plates.) They then returned with containers and the waitress THREW them on our table. Worst and priciest expirience. I will say that the one star I applied was for the good food, the chef was pretty amazing. But it ended there. If you're looking to hold a big event here; good luck. I'd recommend Teresa II. Less hassle, cheaper, amazing customer service and you actually pay for what you get.

The worst place I have ever eat . We stop by there on the way back home, we were soo hungry. When we get inside there was nobody there- nobody at the lunch time, even waitress wasn't there. We were sitting at the table at least 15 min - still nobody. I decide to call for service, looking around ...finally I knocked the kitchen door and there was a not so nice girl who said - give me a minute- ok We ordered 2 red borsch with dumplings and 2 pancakes with goulash . In another 15 min we got our soups which was a disaster!!! The soup was pink! And cold - I think they freeze borsch with dumplings together and when it defrost in microwave dumplings take apart . Anyway it was nasty ! My husband took only a sip . For pancakes we wait another 30 min - after 20 min waiting I knocked the kitchen door again , waitress was there for the whole time . When I opened the door, she didn't hear my knocking , I saw the waitress COOKING or maybe DEFROSTING ! she looked at me with anger and said " I will be back soon" When she finally appear with the pancakes my husband just get up and left that place after first taste of the meal. Pancake was soaking wet of the oil and goulash meat was frozen inside . At least she apologize and explained that the cook didn't show up at the work that day !!!! Zero stars. Plus for waitress for trying

A solid polish restaurant. It's pretty far away from my apartment, but they deliver. The food arrived on time, but the delivery driver snipped at me about not having our numbers on the building. He said "this is a problem" to me in a thick Polish accent. Their pierogies are great. Their beef stroganaw was delicious. Solid food, and how can you argue with a place that's open until 2AM on weekdays? The prices are great, and the portions are large.

I was in the mood for some simple home cooked food. Ordered Pork chops and potatoes, and decided to try the herring in oil. The pork chops and potatoes ain't bad, and the herring was ok. I would order and try some other stuff from here tho. We shall see.
