So what does a chic who spits on people and yells after getting kicked out from an establishment "I'm from Yelp!" when drunk knows about middle eastern food? Let's not forget about making fun of someone dressing up as a girl while her boyfriend is dressed as a woman nun. You guessed it right! Correct answer is "nothing". A real authentic food is not something an American born or anyone outside the culture may like. Still, it doesn't make it non-authentic. I walk into this place and I see the owner who is suckin on hukkah (authentic). TV is always showing a crappy show (authentic). Meat is washed 100% out of blood and the raw cooked (authentic). People from native country (Saudi Arabia) hanging out there with their friends (authentic). Someone who doesn't belong to a certain culture thinks it's not authentic (non-so-authentic). For everything else, there is Mastercard.

Great hookah, delicious meddtrainian food and awesome atmosphere, good place for large groups before or after party.

This place deserves zero stars. The hookah was horrible, wasn't even smokable...gave me a headache..drove an hour for a hookah and literally stayed for 15 minutes and left.. Will never ever go back ...

Very bad hookah, 2 weeks ago, I asked the lady is the tobacco Alfakher she said yes, then when I started smoking I felt that I want to throw up then I asked the man who do the hookah about the tobacco he said nobody told me about your request and I gave you our tobacco, when I want to leave I asked the lady why she did that she said I don't know about the hookah , I paid $49 for 1 sprite , 1 arabic coffee, 2 bad hookah and falafel sandwich. very bad customer service and bad hookah

I went on a Saturday and it was very busy. Coconut charcoals yea! Service a bit slow but it was understandable. Hookah was excellent and the food's portions are huge. There was a 15% mandatory tip, but I would have left it anyway. Totally recommended.

This hookah bar has been my "2nd home" for the past 2 years. I love this place because it's not too noisy and the atmosphere is nice. I generally just like to chill with some friends and at times play cards and this place is definitely my favorite hookah lounge. The chairs are comfortable and the setting is perfect! I usually go to the back room because they have more modern songs (rap, hip-hop, pop, etc) and all. Since I go here often I basically have no problem with the waitresses here. The one thing that sucks is that you have to pay in cash but other than that I love this place! :)

Not bad hookahs, good kitchen. Cheap price. And this place works till 4 am so you easily can go there to afterparty)))

Great ambiance! Good hookah, food is ok... Great place to relax, beware though. Mary get really crowded and loud on weekends..

I've been in this place a few times on different occasions. This place knows nothing about making great hookah. Their hookahs are too old, usually overfilled with water or come with worn hoses. Their service is not too bad except for that they depend on "beautiful" eastern european girl who aren't well trained, unfriendly, and the only reason for them to be there is to attract customers. I think this place CAN be much better with some extra work.

Alibaba as a hookah lounge is only worth 2 stars. The hookah towers are big and look like a steal for $12 but they probably need to be cleaned b/c they don't hit that well. Also, the establishment has no circulation or air filtration, the smog was so thick you could barely see to the other side of the room (ok exaggerating, but it was bad). It's because people smoke ciggs in their too. I'm only giving them an additional 1 star because the place is BYOB and has good customer service and is open pretty late.

I love it here. The hookah is good and well priced. 13 dollars for regular flavors and 16 for special flavors. I had the sweet melon and it was awesome. Hookah came and checked on us regularly. And they use the wood coals which is better for the argeelah ( hookah ) we sat in the front room cause the back room was filled with rowdy people. We also got the tiramisu which was good. Awesome authentic environment with your typical old arab men playing cards and backgammon. Always love coming here , staff is always super friendly too!

Hanging out with one of my buddies about to have me a cocktail and a blue mist hookah. Very friendly and professional service. Flat screen tva with dim setting and comfortable seating. Definitely a nice place to blow some steam and smoke.

I don't usually tell people to avoid places but *AVOID* this place. Cons: -Terrible crowds... mix of thugs, middle aged loners, alot of loudness and thick smoke in the air -Terrible service. .. they are biased towards regulars and sometimes forget to service you -Terrible seating arrangements.. I really find it hard to give this place a nice review.. I've once seen the manager turn off all the lights less than 10 mins after new customers came in to enjoy hookah because he wanted to close early. I've seen employees smoking weed behind the place when looking for parking as well as gossip about customers literally 10 feet away. I've also noticed that some of these reviews are by friends of employees ..and in one picture someone posted you can see all the employees sitting together as if they are guests... Hrm.. weird. Also reminds me that often times tables are taken up my employees and friends of employees..

We've been here about 4-5 times. The hookah is priced around $12 (which is decent) and we can only vouch for the double apple flavor, which was good. The food was alright, definitely not worth the price though. The cheesecake is typical store bought and the drinks are given in cans (no glass) They show sports on 1 tv, arabic music on another, and the way they're positioned, mostly everyone in the place can see. The hookah experience overall was good (according to SO, i don't smoke). They changed the coals consistently It's a great atmosphere, but we didn't like it the times we sat at the tables. it's only comfy and relaxing when you get to lounge on the couches, but they're usually "reserved" (which tends to mean people who know the owner get first dibs, even if they aren't showing up until an hour after you leave. not the best business practices). The people love to stare at you if you're not what they're used to seeing, and it can get uncomfortable at times. We kinda got tired of the scene after our 5th visit and never really returned.

Update: Apparently you can't get food in the lounge anymore (only the attached restaurant area) which makes me sad because that was one of the appeals to this place. I used to love going to hookah lounges when I was at U of I and I think I found a great spot in the city now. The back area has a plasma tv and plays lots of good high energy music videos. It's funny because that back room really reminds me of a VIP room, if you catch my drift...maybe it's the red leather couches... You can bring alcohol here but be warned that they're charge $5 a head for that. Tried their hummus too and it was very tasty! Love hummus! You could really taste the chickpeas in them. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other foods!

I love this place. I've become a fan of hookah so I've probably been to this place about 7-8 times already. I always have a great time and the service is really good. If you sit in the back you get to listen to a variety of different music as well as play cards or bagamon etc. The prices are great and the hookahs are of great quality. Lets not forget the BYOB and the food is great. So far I'd recommend this place to everyone.

I have beeen going to Alibaba for years now. I LOVE this place. Relaxed athmosphere. Food: I have tried hummus everywhere I go, but Alibaba's is the best. As for the rest, I have eaten few other items and they are pretty good. Service: this will usually drive you crazy. VERY slow. The waitresses are nice, but I have never ever had a slower service in my life (this goes for all the million times I have visited). Regardless of service, you can't beat the ambient though. I highly recommend for everyone that wants to hang with friends, even bring you laptop and get some work done (free wi-fi)

I went here on a date. i'd def. go back, it was a saturday, more people came as the night wore on, the hookah guy working the rotation of the coals and hookahs was nonstop and great, and it's byob, something i didn't take advantage of but would be nice. total for 2 for 1-2 hrs smoking, coffee, water and tip? 26 expect people under 21, but diverse crowd toward the night.

I have been to this place at least 4 times. I love their food . It's always fresh and yummy. Pretty authentic also.. My only problem with this place is the starbuzz hookah brand that makes me nauseous every time I smoke it. They should have more options for the Al-Fakher brand.. 2 other people have had the same experience and they are regular hookah people.. Overall, it's a cool place. However, I have to share that the last time I was there.. there were 2 couples that brought in their 2 children. How can someone do that with smoke blowing around!? Oh well, not everyone is a responsible parent apparently...

My first time at a Hookah bar and I liked it!! Great place to go on a date! The food was okay . Taste the same as bar food. So it suit the establishment. We were a little confused on what the flavors were and which ones where the favorite,we also did not get any help with our selection. I really do not see the purpose of blowing flavored smoke but it was something new. Now what I did like was they allow BYOB but then they charge you $10 I wish they would have stated that we when arrived but being in Chicago I expect to spend a decent amount. So I was prepared. The place is so CHILL....I also would reccommend to go in the back room the lights are dimmed and they have a mixture of all music videos playing. You can also play cards with your guest . So I would say If you wanna get out of the house but do not want to go the club just chill and listen to music ,socialize, and have a few drinks..This is the place to go! With 3 appetizers the hookah and the BYOB we only spent $46 alot cheaper than going to the club.

I wont ever step foot in this establishment again due to the fact that sadly, i once was a young 17 year old girl who thought it wasn't a big deal to not be paid hourly. The food might be alright but, in my opinion, you are better off heading closer to kezie and lawrence. The portion sizes tend to be bigger and cheaper in those parts.. Either way no matter what you decide to do remember to tip the damn waitress.

This was actually my first hookah bar I have ever been to and I had really good customer service. But then like a couple months pass and I come back and a woman over charged me, she never came to check up on how everything was going. It was hard to get her attention unless I actually got up. I use to tell friends to go here but that's all changed, after explaining my story. None of my friends will go now. Now we go to other locations instead.

This place isn't anything great and quite disappointing. When I think Hooka bar I think lots of couches or even pillows on the floor for congregation. This place had uncomfortable chairs which resemble that of a hospital waiting room. The couches, which we snagged immediately walking in, were at least comfortable, however, the cleanliness of them leaves a disturbing thought in my head. My friend and I got a hooka with apple tabaco which tasted more like licorice... odd, yes. The other oddity was that they only brought us a hooka with one hitter (I dunno the actual terminolgoy of it) instead of two. I had to keep placing and removing my mouth guard so as to not share germs with my friend. I would have loved a glass of wine or a beer to sip with the hooka but they didn't offer alcohol which was definately a bummer. I'm not sure if it's a BYOB establishment - if I find out that it is I will give this place a second chance. However, they did have cappacinos and other beverages like soda and I believe some foreign drinks. I"m not brave enough to try those so I'll have to wait to review that until a brave or familiar friend goes with me LOL. The other annoyance I had was with a group of 4 men who were playing rummy and getting so worked up that they sounded as if they'd get in a fist fight. Granted I laughed at the time but that was merely to not look annoyed and risk getting yelled at myself. The staff did nothing to settle the men down out of respect for the other patrons. I probably will never go back to this place - unless, again, I find out that it's BYOB. It didn't wow me and some aspects of the establishment simply disturbed me.

I've been here once long time ago, 10 years ago to be specific. I didn't like it then because it was too bright and way too open for customers. It's 2 rooms, the front is well lit, while the backroom is a bit more dim. I came here for a farewell party. I thought after 10 years it would be better. Well the place is a bit better looking but still nowhere near good. After we ordered our hookah, the waitress kept coming back to take everyone else's order, which is fine, but she came back like 5 different times without our hookah. You'd think after 15 minutes, our hookah would be ready. people kept showing up at different times, the people that came after us got their hookah before us. that was the first thing I noticed, how the heck does that happen? I go "hello Miss, we ordered before them" she goes "let me go check on it" I bet you she didn't even put the order in. That shows a very unorganized place. what happened to 'first come, first serve' moto?! Thankfully I ate before I went there because few of my friends did not enjoy their food there. The hookah wasn't good either, I've had plenty of hookah in many different places, some are better than others, this one burned quickly and God forbid if you put the hookah on the table...apparently it's one of their rules. Where I was sitting, in a corner with chairs and a huge table in front of me, there was no room to put hookah on the floor by me because of people's legs were in the way. we literally had to move the table back to make room for the hookah. and it had to go right in front of me because everyone's legs were long and crossed. I felt squished and uncomfortable the whole night. I don't like bashing business but yall need to get this place straightened up. I don't care about the food since I never ate there, but the main thing is hookah and if you can't accommodate the customer, I don't know who your trying to please then.

BYOB and cheap hookah! Love hanging out in the backroom where they always have music playing and videos on the 2 tvs they have. People bring their bottles of liquor and cards and just hang out and relax. The place reminds me of the middle east with the decorations and tables they have throughout. Also, there is a $50 max that you can charge to a credit card so keep that in mind if your group is spending more. Pretty ridiculous and not something I've heard in the past but it is what it is! Im sure I will def be back here since I dont know many hookah joints in the area. There are always extra charges for everything so make sure you triple check your bill before you pay.

Hookah is okay. Service is slow and terrible. Very loud. No space... Not comfortable sitting next to other strangers.

  • Sam D.

The place is nice with a good environment. Good place to watch the basketball game too. I went with my friends. Both of them ordered their own hookah and since I don't do it and it was late at night I didn't want "anything". An hour later, the waitress asks again if I wanted anything and offers at least water (I'm guessing they hate free guests), so I said sure. She didn't come back. It was about time anyway for me to leave.

Decent enough place... Nice staff , the ambience can be a little better and the lighting a little dim. Overall an ok place.

  • AJ M.

This place used to be my go to for quality hookah for "real" smokers. It's environment is great, and is busy almost at all times of the day. But I think it's popularity became its downfall. They have become way understaffed. As soon as we got there a table next to us said they have been sitting there for 30 mins and no one has helped them! They left! But since I have came here for years I gave it a shot and went up to the girls in the front to order! Atleast if the hookah was good it would make up for it! But it wasn't. The hookah was weak and I got a headache, which I always do when I come here I think the air filter is broken. Pass go to uglys environment there sucks but hookahs on point!

    (2)
  • Chris C.

Too expensive and poor service and quality. The service and hookah is almost bad as ugly hookah. But the atmosphere and that they serve food brings up to one more star. If you go with a group of people expect to pay at least $150.. The food is just ok but they serve it at least. And the hookah is not a clean fresh taste like Hookah joint or Havana hookah. And the service sucks unless they see you spending alot of money but besides that they don't care about you.

  • Farha K.

Sometimes you just need some good sheesha in a grimey dive in the middle of the night.. that's when you head to Ali Baba's. As soon as you enter this joint you probably wonder if you needed to bring your passport with you. Arabic Pop music videos playing on the flat screens around, some old arab "uncles" sitting on their designated tables playing cards or backgammon drinking tea.. a bunch of other kids in another corner acting like they're too cool for school.. yeah.. you get it all here. The foods okay.. not sure if they cook their own food or get it from the kabab place next door.. but the sheesha is pretty good. They 'll mix whatever flavors you want together even if its not on the menu, serve the base with whatever drinks you want inside.. sure you pay a little extra but whatever.. the place is still ridunculously cheap. so why not.

  • Kimsy S.

I came here with a friend of mine not too long ago. We liked the authentic Arab music and decor. The lighting is much brighter than I've seen in other hookah lounges, but that didn't bother us. We ordered a sweet berry mix, and we enjoyed it. The only thing I didn't like were the many cigarette smokers. I realize that lots of people smoke cigarettes in hookah lounges, but the smell kind of killed the atmosphere a little for me. The staff is very friendly to the customers. Cash only! Get money beforehand, or use the ATM in the lounge. My friend told me that she paid $2 in fees.

  • M M.

Really expensive hookah, and even more expensive, fixed tip. Especially if you and that old man who brings you your coal and bong does all the work. Wings and other dinner entrees really good.

    (3)
  • Tasha M.

First time there and it was a pretty decent atmosphere. I just wish they didn't allow people to smoke cigarettes in the building because that smell is horrible. I mean it's a hookah bar smoke the hookah people. However, it was nice and I can see myself coming back!

  • Tejal S.

I've tried to find an amazing hookah place and I finally found it. Not only are the hookahs super clean, but you can tell all the flavors are fresh. Awesome service, great food, and very nice atmosphere. The food is pretty good too. I recommend the chicken wrap! If your new to the city, or have been for a while, stop on by:-)

  • Muhannad A.

Amazing Hookah. Almost like the one in the Arab countries. The staff is very friendly and attentive. HOWEVER, the son of the owner(who is responsible for the Hookah and the charcoal) has a little bit of attitude. If you can tolerate it great

I really liked this spot. It's open til 5am and they have good food. Loved the hummus!

Ended my birthday celebration here. The lack of ventilation was HEAVY. 99% of my accompanying party needed to take frequent breaks outside. Beyond that, the hookah attendant moved swiftly. The chicken tenders and fries were on point. BUT! That heavy smoke was a KILLER Decent time; crazy bill
