This is our new go-to Chinese restaurant! We placed an order for pick up and did not estimate our timing so by the time we picked up our food, they were about to close. The employee working offered to re-cook everything for us since it had been an hour since placing the order (we declined, because it was out fault for not leaving early enough) but the offer was very nice! The food was GREAT. Similar to other Chinese restaurants, the portions were huge and we had left overs for days. We got an order of crab Rangoon and pot stickers for apps, General Tso's chicken, and beef chow fun. The chow fun had the best noodles of any other chinese restaurant we've tried in the city, same with the pot stickers. The great quality of food along with the friendly staff makes this place convenient and satisfies your Chinese cravings. We'll be back.

I come here a lot on my lunch break, and you get a lot of food for the price, but it's just not very good. I've struck out the last 3 times I went, and probably will find a new option from now on. Nice people, just need a new menu and new recipes.

Why is it so hard to find a good neighborhood Chinese restaurant? My husband placed the order onsite as a carry out order. Service was pretty fast. They also offer delivery service. We ordered crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken and house fried rice. The chicken in the sweet and sour chicken and fried rice had this awful after taste to it so I didn't eat much of it. The crab rangoon I thought were decent later turned out to give me an upset stomach all night. We are new to the neighborhood so we'll keep trying to find a better Chinese restaurant, hopefully!

I was very pleased and impressed with what I ordered. I love Chinese food and have eaten as tons of different places. I just moved to the area and #1 Chop Suey isn't even a mile from my apartment. I ordered the Sesame Chicken Combination meal meaning it came with fried rice and an egg roll. I got a huge portion of food for basically $7! oh and it tasted great! I also got a small order of egg drop soup and that was delicious as well. If you are looking for a quick take out Chinese place, I would definitely recommend this one!

this is my go to place for smoothies. the only thing the pineapple and coconut smoothie is missing is couple of rum(tequila) shots lol. strawberry banana is a good one too and my absolutely summer time favorite one is the watermelon one. i highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

If you're looking for a great place for that traditional Chinese you are craving and expecting, this is the place. Not only are the portions huge, but the food is hot and delicious, making it a good value for the price. I have ordered here twice, the Orange chicken, Sesame chicken and general Tsos were perfectly crispy, not over breaded (which I hate!) and actually stay crispy when you reheat the leftovers. Only gripe I would have is I like a little more veggies with my entrees, but definitely not a deal breaker, obviously if I'm getting Chinese, I'm not exactly trying to eat healthy. Egg rolls were flavorful and crispy. The lunch special is an amazing deal, you get a full size to-go container that is heaping with enough food for 2 people for only $6-$8 and has a large list of choices. This will definitely be my new go-to for Chinese!

I tried so many Singapore style noodles and theirs is among the best in Chicago imo. It is also lots of food for 8.21 dollars.

Best Chinese food hands down! The specials are the best and the food is awesome. The smoothies are so good on a hot day. The orange chicken is by far the best in the city. I love that you can substitute anything on the specials and not get charged extra. I go here at least once a week.

I am excited, this is my first Review for 2014, and it's for a little gem of a Chinese Restaurant located in a small strip mall across from the Lane Tech Field.. Welcome to #1 Chop Suey! So, yes, I am one of those oddball people who just had to have Chinese Food on New Years Eve, granted I washed it down with a bottle of Veuve but anyway.. Just have to give props where they are due, and this location of #1 Chop Suey served me up some delicious, quality Chinese food for a very low price. Probably some of the best Beef Chop Suey I have had, no being selfish with the great pieces of beef amongst the perfectly cooked vegetables. Now, whenever I am foolish enough to order Cantonese Shrimp from Chinese Restaurants my major pet peeve is there always seems to be way more breading than shrimp, but #1 Chop Suey brought me up some really delicious fried shrimp, shrimp proportionate to the breading. Loved it, a lot! Crispy Egg Rolls, that were not soggy or mushy, just really good! Now, this place I'm sure does a major take-out business since the restaurant interior space is not very large but there are a few tables available for seating. And, their menu prices are more than fair for the quantity and quality of food that you are given. So, in ending, I have had hit or miss experiences at most Chinese Restaurants I have frequented, but #1 Chop Suey on Addison was definitely a Hit for me. It was a great New Years Eve meal and for that I say Thanks to #1 Chop Suey.. The Chop Suey was pretty great, and the Veuve certainly didn't hurt! If in the area you should check out this place, because as unassuming as it may look from the outside great things are cooking on the inside..:)

Very friendly. In and out as we ordered ahead. Getting into the lot was tricky as they were doing construction on Addison.

Ordered sweet and sour chicken combination (includes shrimp fried rice and egg roll) and pineapple/ coconut smoothie. I ordered via Eat24 hours before their opening hours (11a) - went back to sleep (9a) and was awoken by a phone call at 11:20a, "Delivery outside." Awesome and friendly delivery man/ owner? "It's cold honey.. Careful honey..." Ha, so cute. Fried rice was on point and sweet and sour chicken tenfolds better than Panda Express'. Order from here! Great prices, great personnels, fast delivery, and awesome food. Will be ordering again. ** I'm a little confused.. Yelp says there's 1 chop suey on addison as well, is that a different one? Or is that this (irving park), relocated?

When we're hungry, we eat and one of my favorite things is Chinese food. During my on-going quest to find the best Chinese food around Logan Square I hit up one of the hood's more popular restaurants which is #1 Chop Suey. Cheap and fast, nothing would describe this place better which is why it gets so much business. Going in I didn't expect much since typically these places are just small hole in the walls with broken tables/chairs all sending the vibes of "order and GTFO". I got 2 combination plates (known as lunch specials), the orange chicken and shrimp with lobster sauce. Both came with a huge amount of chicken fried rice (easily over a pound) for about 5.50 which is what you expect from these places. The shrimp was pretty good, sauce was thick enough so it didn't spill all over the place which is a plus. Everything was cooked well including the orange chicken. There was a ridiculous amount of orange chicken, so much that I was eating it for 2 days. The fried rice was something I didn't like, even though there was a huge amount, it tasted like whatever oil they fried it in. Either they don't clean their cooking equipment properly or the oil they use is of such poor quality/ being reused without dumping for too long. What you pay for is what you get. With these places expect lots of bang for your buck as that is the only way they can keep customers with the quality of food they serve. Great for those late night drunk sessions when you have the munchies though.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
