Best Pizza in Chicago by far!!! Though some would argue otherwise. Never disappointed by this location!!

This is my personal favorite chain deep dish pizza in Chicago! Gino's east is a close second but something about their sauce just gives them a slight edge! Deep dish meat lovers... Can't be beat!

The other day, @pizzaislife followed me on Twitter and I shrieked with happiness. I have no idea who da hell that is but... My love for pizza is real. My love for pizza is so real that when I traveled to India for a month back in 2006, the only thing I wanted to eat when I got back was some deep dish from LOUS. I wanted it so bad that I called and placed an order while waiting for my luggage at O'Hare. That's some real #fatkid4lyf dedication. Lou's is the real deal. It is my go to pizza in the suburbs. It is absolutely amazing... I typically order just a pizza - medium with butter crust, half cheese, half spinach - deep dish. I'm a vegetarian - so I totally appreciate the I uncut pizza option. Not only is it crunchier, it is meat tidbit free. I typically hate when I dine out and I can see the same knife being used to cut meaty things and then my food. Not here. Lou's doesn't disappoint. Why are you even reading this review? Go there already, jeez. It tastes amazing every single time. I have literally eaten Lou's over 100 times.

I must say that, growing up in Chicago, I was always confused about the hype for Lou Malnati's. I always found it okay...but not great. That being said, I had not tasted Lou in many years, so I took it as a chance to introduce my wife (who is not from Chicago) to a new place that she had not tried before. We ordered a medium sausage pizza online and was able to pick it up about 40 minutes later - not bad considering it was a busy evening. There were a lot of people waiting in the small store front and it was definitely cluttered, but did not have to wait long. So as for the pizza - I will say that I am not a fan of the sausage "patty". I much prefer the crumbled. The sausage itself was fine, but lacked a ton of flavor. And the cheese...just way too much cheese. I know many people love Lou Malnati's for this reason, but not I. The crust, too, was just okay. All in all, it's an okay pizza, but I believe it's truly overhyped and I will keep going elsewhere. 3 stars is the max.

The Malnati's got their start at Pizzeria Uno which, at the time, was the defacto standard for great Chicago Pizza. I grew up in the downtown Chicago area eating Uno's, Due's, Dino's, Gino's and Gino's East Pizza (in the 60's and 70's before they were all ruined) and in the 80's I was a Pizza snob that thought of Lou Malnati's as suburban "Chicago Style Pizza Wanna Be" Guess they showed me. When friends and family come to town and they want real Chicago Styled Pizza, we get Lou Malnati's. The places of my youth are gone, or are a caricature of their former selves. Franchising, tourism and fame has ruined them (some are still 4 * pizza's, but...) Lou Malnati's has expanded without destroying themselves. Their Buttercrust Sausage Pizza is edible artistry. Thank goodness they are still around and haven't compromised themselves. This particular shop is carry out only... so the review is for the Pizza only (carry out shop is fine) .. keeps it simple that way

Pizza is always good. Staff is friendly for the most part. Never have had any issues with here!

I love Lou's. I worked at several locations including this one for a while....So I am far from unbiased . If anyone ever works at a restaurant for a while and ends up going back to eat there it is a good sign. It has been over 10 years since I worked for Lou's. I eat there at least once a month. ...That being said last night I had one of the best pizzas I have had in a long long long time. It was a small uncut spinach well done....Good stuff. Crispy buttery garlicky cheesy tomatoie goodness.... If only the Lincoln Park store could be as good. ...?

Following my last review, I was contacted by Meghan R. (Customer Service) about my experience at this Lou's, and then subsequently the District Manager, Steve Haddon. He and I spoke briefly on the phone about my experience. They were both very nice and apologetic. Following the conversation, Steve followed up with a letter and a $25 gift card. I really appreciate their attention and effort at rectifying my lackluster experience! I haven't used my gift card yet, but I will definitely give this Lou's location another try in the near future!

Short and simple!!! Hands down the best pizza ever since I was a little kid. Love their salads and I'm normally not a salad person. #1 for Chicago pizza. I've had NY pizza and it doesn't come close.

  • Connie C.

Yummy deep dish and thin crust pizza with great salads delivered to hotel. Reasonable priced. Hit the spot when we traveled into town and wanted some Chicago style pizza.

  • Kurt L.

Good pizza but can't touch Geordanos deep dish . Their crust needs more flavor and their too skimpy with the cheese. Good Pizza but not the top deep dish around.

  • Eric G.

Their deep dish pizza is to die for. I've been to several of the locations and haven't found much deviance from the pizza. Then again that's pretty much all I order. I usually get a pepperoni mushroom which fortunately they have plenty of both. But what makes the pizza top notch for me is their buttery crust. That crust is absolutely divine and puts me in a food coma alone. Recently I've just been ordering their ready made pizzas which aren't as custom as an order. They do the job as well. Been back multiple times and sure I'll be back again.

The shiz in burbtown IL. Quality has gone down a bit in the last couple years but just pop it in the oven for another 10 minutes and it's crispy delish.

There are few times in life when you are able to feel truly alive. Snuggling a kitten, running with scissors, going through a car wash with the windows open, and eating a Lou Malnatis pizza. Enjoy life, eat at Lous.

  • David P.

My family and I have been eating Lou Malnati's since I was in high school. The pizza is fantastic quality. We love the thin crust pizza, different from typical Chicagoers but the deep dish is exquisite as well. If you want to mix it up, try the lasagna. It tastes amazing. Overall, if you want great pizza, salad or lasagna, this is the place to go.

  • Joyce B.

Absolutely love this place. Ordered a pizza today. Not only did it get here 30 minute early, it was steaming when I opened the box. Thank you Lou's for being here for us Chicagoans.

Coming home means a visit to Lou's. Right down the street. To-go pizza, beer and the best company with Andrew W....Wonderful homecoming meal.

the pick up service is actually prompt. Had a glass of wine while waiting at the bar and by far cheapest place in town. better pizza than most other places in area.

  • Julie S.

Love this pizza! I'm not a fan of the thin crust. The thick crust is the way to go! Even plain old cheese pizza is incredible from here!

  • Wendy P.

When they are on their A-game, they are one of my most favorite pizza places around. But 3 of the last 4 times we've ordered from this location, the crust has been either under-done, over-done or the toppings have been half of what would normally be there. If they were more consistent, we'd never order from anywhere else. But the lack of consistency has gotten so bad that we've given up on them for now. We'll give them another chance in a few months with the hopes of being able to get the good stuff from them once again. When they are good, they are GOOD.

  • Kara Z.

I appreciated that the management read my Yelp review and contacted me quickly, listened to my concern, and then worked to make it right. Great customer service!

There are two things I love about Chicago, and one is their deep dish pizza. There's really nothing quite like it. Lou Malnati's rivals Gino's East and Giordano's as one of the top pizza chains in the Chicagoland area. This particular location is carryout or delivery only. Typically, the wait is about 45 minutes before your pizza is ready for pick-up. You'll need to be very patient if you expect them to deliver to you. What I like about Lou Malnati's pizza is their crusts. The crusts on the deep dish are tasty and its edges are crispier than any of their competitors'. The rest of the ingredients are great but their crusts really set them apart. Although they aren't as expensive as some deep dish pizzeria's, it's definitely not cheap. So be prepared to shell out some dough, so to speak. Insider tip: When ordering, be sure to tell them you'd like to cut the pizza yourself. This way, you can control the size of your slices because they tend to cut in weird or large pieces. If you're craving some deep dish but don't want to leave the house, be sure to order from Lou's.

  • R F.

Would love to try this pizza but although they show we are in the delivery are, they would not deliver to us. I guess West Chicago is not high enough brow for them (and sometimes I can understand this). We just wish Dominicks Pizza was still here. We will continue the search but apparently Lou is not willing to make the trek to our hood. Just wish if they did not want to deliver to our house, they would not include it on their web site.

This second time I order deep dish pizza , I complain that last pizza was lack of spinach and marshrom , I told please improve your quality. But look like you punish me second time, second time pizza was worst than first time. I used to order pizza from Elk Grove place since 1980. They had no quality issue. This time in compatative market, it got worst. Thank you for serving . But no tanks any more.

  • Jason P.

This place has the best deep dish pizza, period, end of story. Gino's East and Giordano's serve up some great deep dish also (4 stars), but Lou's is the 5 star standard. This location is take out only, so be sure to order it uncut so the crust doesn't get soggy on the way home. The crust is delicious. The cheese is awesome. The tomato sauce is to die for. The sausage and tomatoes are superior and generous. If you have a craving for a deep dish pizza, Lou's won't disappoint.

  • Dino L.

Great food and great service - employees are always very nice and helpful! I just wish they offered coupons, but I understand why they don't - why should they! Their pizza is well worth the price as it has quality ingredients - just wish we could afford it more often! That's ok - it is an excellent treat! You'll LOVE the pizza - try it! :-)

  • Pat E.

I am reviewing this place again, just because I want to. I haven't had it in a while, but this is a great place for carryout. Buttercrust is amazing, and the sausage is great (I usually don't get sausage on a pizza). The sauce on this place sets it apart from other places, like Gino's East. This is the top "deep dish" category for me. I have favorite places for deep dish (here), stuffed (Rosatis of CS), regular, extra thin, pan (Connie's) etc. If you're looking for DEEP DISH...THIS IS THE PLACE!

    (5)
  • Melinda A.

no deep dish is better!!! NONE. the tomatoes are what does it for me... This location has been very good, friendly, consistent. reviewer who said they dont cut the crust - no - the always say - we recommend you don't cut the crust so it stays crispier. Would you like it uncut? (I know - we order probably once a month)

  • Gina B.

seriously best deepdish pizza ever, way better then ginos east, giordanos, and nancys

    (5)
  • Joe E.

This is the Top Deep dish pizza in Chicago. Its better than ginos east and giordanos (stuffed Pizza, but still) for sure. . Their biggest size is not nearly enough for young men like myself. Also, it would be much better if they had the sit down option, with the dessert pizzas at the other locations! the buttercrust is very good too, but way overpriced, like the deep dish. THe tomatoes on the deep dish are awesome! lower prices and make bigger pizza and you become perfect!

  • Alain S.

I really like the crust on these piazzas. Its probably the insane amount of butter carve and calories but they do taste great. Personally I like giardanos a little more but this crust is the reason you come back. Its a weird thing to say, especially for a deep dish pizza but its really good.

If you want to eat the best pizza in the World- eat here. Best deep dish in Chicago area. If heaven doesnt have this pizza, I dont want to go!

  • Ginny E.

We've always had good experiences for the most part with delivery from this Lou's location. It's usually pretty darn tasty, hot and on time. Only once did we have an issue and they really went above and beyond to make it right. I highly recommend Lou's for high quality and yummy delivery! Go for the deep dish sausage, onions, peppers and fresh garlic. Be sure that you all eat it together so everyone is equally garlicky smelling! ;-)

  • Bryan S.

We have ordered pizza from this location for 3 years now and have had great service. Typically on the weekends they even have pizza with unique toppings out to sample while you wait to pick up your pizza. The one negative experience I had was when they gave my pizza to someone else by mistake. I waited an hour total. They were very compassionate and I could tell they cared. They even comped the pizza because of there mistake. I really appreciate the service.

  • A J.

Best deep dish around. They do it right every time ... this is just one of the many carryout / delivery outposts they have to serve the Chicagoland area. If you want to actually sit down then check out downtown naperville or search the Lou Malnati's website. Service here is pretty quick, 30mins to cook a pizza is reasonable considering how good it tastes.

the best pizza around , i mean come on ! its lou's ! buttercrust easy sauce ont he cheese deep dish ! bam ! the salad dressings and malnati salad ! bam !

  • Courtney S.

The best chicago deep dish pizza hands down! When you say you want sausage on your pizza, oh boy do you get sausage!!! My pizza basically had a huge sausage patty on it lol it was awesome! I love that you can buy individual size pizzas frozen, its great when you dont have an army to feed

  • Mary J.

Carry out only. No dine in, hence 4 starts instead of 5. Great yummy pizza with the butter crust and yes, they do deliver! A big hit with my family. We like this pizza, especially all the fresh ingredients they have on it. Delivery is not fast and these pizza take awhile to cook, so plan ahead!

    (4)
  • Courtney D.

Yummy Yummy! this is me and boyfriend's favorite pizza in town, we usually order for pick up since they take so long to make. I just have one warning, the sausage pizza has a solid layer of sausage not little blobs like most other pizzas, and I found this to be wayyyy too much sausage!

    (5)
  • Heather A.

The pizza here is TO DIE. "The Lou pizza" is the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Ever. Both the garlic bread and the cheesy bread are delicious. We've always had a great experience at this location.

    (5)
  • Nicole L.

The best deep dish pizza I've had in the tri-state area. It rivals Gino's East and Giordano's. This location is carry-out and delivery only. The people are friendly and the food is always ready on time. Please note, however, that while they may dare you to try the low-fat cheese and see whether you can taste the difference, I'm here to say you can, and I don't recommend it. Stick with the regular cheese and you'll have a much better experience. Besides, if you're on a diet, why are you having pizza anyway? Don't you realize how many calories are in the crust alone? You should probably put the diet on hold.

  • Pam M.

This is the 1st time I have used this location. I ordered a chicago classic which is supposed to be a butter crust, but was not. Also, I found it to be very crazy by the time I got the pizza home. Also I had ordered a bottle of Lou's sweet vinegarette dressing, and found it in a plastic bowl with a lid which leaked as opposed to the downtown Naperville location where when purchased it is in a glass bottle.

    (1)
  • J M.

The pizza is delish-however when I made the order, the employee told me they don'tcut the pizza, so they are crispier". I find it annoying to pay for a pizza and have to get home and cut it myself. Other than that, good food.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
