Fat Patties Menu

My boyfriend and I visited Fat Patties for the first time on Friday night for dinner. The logo has caught my eye as I've driven down the strip many times. But I have to say "Fat Patty" looks a little scary! The menu was on a chalkboard and you order at the counter. They have a fairly simple menu, but a few specialty burgers, sides and desserts. It was similar to a Five Guys experience minus all the peanuts. I asked what their best seller was and they said the basic burger. Our meal of 2 burgers and one order of fries was just $9.95. The fries were delicious! My boyfriend even said he would eat them without ketchup - which is a big deal for him! I loved that they were sliced thin and whatever oil they used to cook them was good. The only negative was that the burgers are grilled in the front and there seems to be a lack of ventilation. I left feeling a little greasy. All-in-all a satisfying experience. We will definitely go back!

The burgers always taste fresh. Although they can be on the greasy side. Fat Patties offers local beef and bison, both of which are a cut above burgers at mid-range casual restaurants. The sides are also made in-house. Potato salad is spot on picnic style. The hush puppies are an interesting, yet tasty twist. If in town, stop by.

BEST FOOD IN CARBONDALE. All their food is tasty and carefully made. Their Brisket Sandwich and Deep Fried Green Beans are my top choice( and I recommend getting a side of slaw to throw on the brisket as well). Their sign at first seemed to me as if it was a greasy place but after eating lunch there with a friend two years ago I realized it is totally the opposite! It has been my favorite place to go to lunch since. All but one of the staff is awesome and super nice. (the one guy seems out of place compared to everyone else working there) It costs about 2 dollars more then any other burger place but their quality more than makes up for it. They are unlike any place in Carbondale, and since I am moving away, will miss it!

Ok, so when I've actually eaten in the restaurant, it's been good. The couple of times I've gotten food delivered, it's been ok. The buns were kind of stale and they forgot to add things we had asked for. I do have to say I recently tried their bratwurst soup and that was pretty damn good!

I have said this before, but Fat Patties is not all that great. When I experienced fat patties for the first time, there was only one person working there, taking orders and cooking. I ordered a hamburger and fries. When my order was finally ready, I took it back to my place to dig in, but the burger was charcoal-literally it was burnt. The fries were also paper thin. It was my only time I ate there because I had such a bad experience. I wish I could go back and give it another try but it is to late now. Hopefully they changed the way they operate things around there.

Exactly what Carbondale needed!! A great locally owned burger joint on the strip! It has that classic college town feel. But at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the food and the burgers are great. I havent had anything except the burgers as far as entrees are concerned but they are great All burgers are 1/3 lb angus chuck and they taste amazing. The blue Cheese and Lick Creek burger are my personal favorites. Cheese is extra but that is ok considering its actually real cheese and you can pick from numerous kinds. The fries are also great - though a little too salty for me but i realize im in the minority here. If you love McDonalds fries you will absolutely LOVE these fries. Ohh...and their bacon is amazing as is the Chipotle Mayo. Yum!!

Yummy place for burgers! It's super local-ly and everyone that works there is super friendly. The picnic tables give it a really relaxed vibe! I love this place and all of their menu items. One time when I dined in, one of the cooks came out of the kitchen going from table to table offering free samples of chili, asking for our honest opinions of the taste. Of course it was perfect. It really feels like home at Fat Patties!

I really love Fat Patties! They have great local beef, fresh ingredients, and a very creative menu. Everything I've had has been fantastic. I especially love the corn nuggets!

First visit I am sad to say, the food , service, and prices were great, I usually try to stay away from "College " places but we'll be back here several times! The people were very friendly and helpful. The brisket was Some of the best I've had, and around southern Illinois it's not easy to find great brisket. If you're in the area check this lil place out!!!!

Fat Patties does one thing really well, and that is their burgers. I've tried the regular cheeseburger and felt a little frisky one night and opted for the bison burger and it was equally as good. The fries are fantastic and the atmosphere of the place really sets it apart from other restaurants in Carbondale. You can definitely tell that Fat Patties was meant to be in a college town with the six pack condiment holders and the writing on the tables. If you haven't been on the strip and tried Fat Patties I honestly don't know what you're waiting for. The food here is top notch and the staff is extremely friendly.

This was an old stand by for my friends when we were in law school at Southern (class of 2011). Restaurants in Carbondale do not last long, so the endurance and growth of Fat Pattie's is sign of quality. They now offer delivery service and a great beer selection! I had a double cheese burger with their skinny fries and washed it all down with a Two Hearted Ale. Next time I'm in the Dirty-dale, I'll go again.

Fat Patties is a GREAT local business! I love their veggie burgers with fried egg on top. Plus the fried brownie ice cream sundae is AMAZING! I am very impressed that they deliver. I like the feel of the restaurant, too. I am happy to bring my out of town guests to Fat Patties!

Loved this place. It is a truly local and college experience when visiting SIU. Good burgers and sweet tea.

This is one of the better places to order from in Carbondale. Unfortunately, it has the same "hot and cold" satisfaction rate that so many others in the area seem to suffer from, making me rate it an even three stars. Sometimes, the food is amazing and fast. Sometimes, the orders are wrong or are sold out after you order and the quality isn't as good. The reason why I keep ordering from here is the soup. They make the absolute best soups here. I've yet to have a bad one. I really wish they posted on Facebook or something what their soup of the day/week is though. It's a college town full of busy kids who order food online, and it's annoying to have to call every day to see what's new. Also, I wish they made more of it. More than once, I have placed an order for soup and they have had to call me back, saying they are out of it completely or they only had enough for a half cup, and would another cup of the other soup be alright? While I think it's awesome that they offer you an additional cup of soup if it's out, it's really a bummer when I've already called, asked what it is, and ordered it only to find out that nope, it's not there anymore. My favorite soups include the African Peanut and Kale, White Bean, and Brat. Their burgers are the kind where you can build it yourself, so my standard order is a cheeseburger with cheddar, egg, bacon, and tomato, as well as mayo and pickles which they will give you upon request. Honestly, it's a 50/50 shot if your toppings are right when you order delivery from here. More often than not, I have no mayo. Sometimes I have no pickles. Once I had no bacon. It's not worth the effort to call and make a fuss for .50 worth of pickles, but it's definitely a bummer when you don't get what you ordered. Thankfully, I've learned to keep mayo in my mini fridge for just this reason. Their fries are super good though, and are very cheap. They're thin and always just the right amount of crunchy and salty. Their chips are really good too, and are homemade. The staff has also never been anything than nice and helpful, which is a huge plus too. I order from here rather often, and it's one of the better places in town. I just wish they were better at keeping orders straight.

I really love the burger and the homemade chips. The only downside was the ventilation. It was filled with smoke from cooking the burgers. When I entered the store I couldn't keep my eyes open from the smoke... As much as I love to go back and try the burgers, I don't want my clothes and hair to smell like food.

This is a good place. We had Bison Burgers, Grass-fed Beef Burgers and veggie burgers. They were all very good. Excellent shoestring fries. The fried green beans were real good as well. They had a good selection of local microbrewskis as well. This is a good choice, very casual dining.

Wow!! If your in Cabondale, make it a point to come here!! Great grass fed beef and Bison, deep fried green beans, amazing sauces, they've got it all. Never met a more knowledgeable owner, please support!!

Veggie Burger with fries and chipotle mayo. Decent, basic veggie burger. Like most places, I wish they offered subbing a veggie patty for meat on the more fascinating concoctions. Fries are thin, which is just not a personal preference of mine. But the chipotle mayo saves all! So good I wished I could buy a large container of it and put it on all kinds of food.

Great food. Shitty ass service when it comes to deliveries. Just because they put the wrong address the delivery driver gets all pissy because I'm at the address I said for the order to be delivered at and then won't bring me my food for another 30min or more! Shit service, rude employee!!

The burgers here are delicious. It's clear they take a lot of pride in what they do. Also, the atmosphere, beer selection, and live music make this place a Carbondale gem.

These burgers are good. Really really good. I love that they support the local bison and beef. The potato salad is pretty solid as well.

Since I don't have an In-N-Out for miles around I have to resort to the next best thing. Fat Patties did the trick. The customer service is awesome and the owner definitely cares about his customers. The burger is flavorful and delicious. I just wish they were a little bit bigger. :( The fries are really good...def. worth it! Free delivery over 8 bucks...so order enough for yourself or treat a friend.

The vegie burger and fries plate holds up as an easy and healthy option. The friendly staff accommodates my needs by taking my orders in advance over the phone, and then gives quick service when I arrive. This vegie burger gets a much higher rating than the one offered by Burger King. It always tastes freshly made. It's also great to be able to have a whole wheat bun and creative toppings, like roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts. I also like the way they put their everyday garnishes, including lettuce, tomato and onion, since I always pull the tomato and onion off and either give or throw it away.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Carbondale. They've drastically improved their menu and service since they first opened. The veggie burger is excellent as well as the corn nuggets, fried green beans and french fries. The chipotle mayo is KILLER! You can customize your burger with all the fixin's you could ever want with your choice of cheese. The mimosas are super tasty and they have vegetarian chili (seasonally) which is amazing. As another reviewer mentioned, the ventilation is poor so expect to smell like a burger when you leave. But it's worth it for the delicious food.

With decent reviews, and for the fact that this is a local burger joint, I decided to give it a try. There is a nice selection of burgers to choose from, and all the sides are a la carte. Food took longer than expected for us being the only ones in the restaurant, but we knew that they were hand-pressed patties and would take longer than Mcdonalds. So after about 15-20 minutes our food came out. One cheeseburger, and one blue cheese burger with fried green beans and french fries. The french fries were delicious as were the green beans. That's where the delicious ended. Being that they are hand-pressed, I fully expected them to come out juicy. Alas they did not, in fact they were both quite dry. I have a feeling a weight was used to expedite the cooking process. Burgers should NEVER be weighted when cooking as they come out dry. The flavor in the burger was actually decent. The only other problem I had was with their blue cheese burger. The description says there is blue cheese mixed IN the burger. She asked if I also wanted crumbles on top and I said yes.The crumbles were on top but the burger was devoid of any indication of blue cheese in the burger in either appearance or taste. Once I got to the center where the crumbles on top were is when the taste finally came through. Fairly disappointing since I like to support local joints.

Some of the best burgers in town! Great variety of both burgers and other menu items. Friendly, informal setting. Delivery & t/o available. Yum!

Their brisket burger is amazing, try throwing a little BBQ sauce on it will only set it off! The music isn't just the radio be prepared for a blast from the past with some great oldies. And has the picnic tables that you are encouraged to leave a note, the staff is friendly I will be a future client even if to just say hi and grab a beer!

The burgers are delicious but my only complaint is that they aren't really that "fat." With a name like Fat Patties I expect a relatively fat patty. They're still my favorite burger place in town but the name is misleading if you don't know any better. I particularly love their veggie, and bison burgers. All are great with an egg on top and don't forget a side of fried green beans- which are to die for

Delivery was fast. The brisket was smoky and delicate. Definitely the best brisket I've ever had. The chipotle mayo is a nice touch. Even the ciabatta bun was good. I was a little surprised by how small the sandwich was, considering its price (over $10 with tax, tip, and a very reasonable $1 delivery fee on Eatstreet.) I can't ever finish a sandwich from Mo Wallace - they're just too massive - but I finished this sandwich with no problem. Dude-sized appetites should consider doubling the meat ($12 instead of $8.) Is it just me, or is $12 for a sandwich a little silly - especially when a $9 Mo Wallace sandwich makes two meals? The deep-fried green beans were good, but also overpriced. The french fries were super affordable, but nothing special. However, this meal cured my hangover, so I'm not sure I have the right to complain about its size OR price. & I felt super satisfied when I was done eating.

Since I have no In-N-Out or Five Guys near me, this place is the next best alternative. The menu there is pretty extensive (not just burgers) and everything is relatively cheap. Good for the poor student. They have many varieties of sandwiches to choose from. They are particularly known for their hamburgers and cheeseburgers though. The only problem I had with the actual physical location was that they didn't have proper ventilation. Once they got a lot of orders, the place would fill up with smoke. It got musty and cloudy. They had two huge fans in the back to help ventilate, but that doesn't help if a window or door isn't open. The workers there are helpful and quick to explain the menu to you. Everything is made to order so call in for take-out or you will be waiting for 10-15 minutes. Good alternatives to the burgers are the pork chop sandwich and the beef brisket. I liked the buns on the beef brisket sandwich, but the brisket was a little more well-done than I would have liked. It had the texture of bacon, but since I like bacon, I didn't mind so much. The only side I tried was the fries and they were yummy. They are like steak-n-shake fries, short, thin, and crispy. This is a great place to get a good burger and just chill for the college crowd, which is probably everyone who lives in Carbondale.

The Bucky Dome is one if the best burgers I have ever had, and they have a pretty decent beer selection to to go with the burgers. The chili is good and spicy and the potato salad is amazing. The atmosphere of this joint is a little odd though. They always have a nice pretty girl working the front register but I think that is to counterbalance the grumpy guy who works the grill and the random old guy they never makes eye contact that always seems to be wandering around. All in all, great food, great beer, pretty girls, a possible wandering homeless man, and a guy that looks like he murders kittens in between making burgers.. Two thumbs up from this fat guy.

This is my favorite restaurant in Carbondale! I didn't try this place until the end of my sophomore year at SIU, and I immediately regretted not going there sooner. My personal favorite burger is the Matty Plummer. The patty is always cooked just right and tastes fresh. I also enjoy the friendliness and familiarity of the employees. They often recognize you after coming in a few times and often learn your order. I even crave Fat Patties when I go home for breaks.

I've eaten here about 3 or 4 times. It's just OK. One time the burger will be pretty good and next time it's charcoal. needs some consistency. If you want something like a drink refill you'll have to get up and go ask for it. Once your order is taken (at the counter) they're done with you and have gone back to reading the nightlife newspaper. Give it a try if you like you might get lucky and get a good meal. The owner seems like a nice guy but a few (not all) of his employees are a bit slack.

When I heard the name "Fat Patties" I wanted to run, fast, in the opposite direction. It sounded like the kind of place that could put me in a caloric coma just by looking at it. The yellow, cheerful billboard on top of this little building was inviting enough, I decided to enter the mesh-covered doorway and take my chances. I'm so glad I did. This place is small, with a handful of picnic tables, a smoky-aired atmosphere, a quaint counter, and a charming demeanor. The menu ranges from handmade burgers (duh, patties!) to salads and a little bit of everything in between. The man working the counter told us he'd give us "a little tour" and helped us through the menu and mentioned popular hits since we were first timers. I decided to go with the classic cheeseburger but to mix it up a little bit. I made my patty with pepper jack cheese and roasted red peppers on a wheat bun. The burger was juicy, medium-done and the peppers were deliciously home roasted. I was on cloud nine with my sandwich. My friend got the "Matty Plummer" which was a patty embedded with jalapeños and pepper jack cheese (two slices, one on top, one on bottom!) She loved it, exclaiming between every bite how spicy it was. She also got a side order of fried green beans--crisp, golden goodness! We didn't eat in the restaurant because of the smoke but this chalkboard menu-ed, cozy spot serves up really tasty, fresh burgers!

It was a total let down after all the hype. The place was slow to get your order and very smoky inside. The burger were average at best. Wendy's honestly has a much better burger. Oh well you win some you lose some.

I was skeptical in the beginning due to a weak small menu. Now the place is awesome! Lick Creek burger, bacon and egg burger, pork chop sandwich, brisket is to die for, and the fries are amazing, This place has grown on me. The downfall is the heat in the summer. This place is legit!

  • vicky n.

Ordered a small burger (their local beef option), salad, and cookie for carry-out. The quality of the food was good, and it was quick and cheap, but they forgot to include the cookie I had paid for. Unfortunately, I didn't check until I had already gotten home. So, points off for them for that oversight, but if you are smarter than I am and remember to check what's in your bag before you leave the restaurant, you wouldn't run into that kind of trouble anyway!

Went last weekend and had the veggie burger. It was great. Added cheese and chipotle mayo and the spicy mustard and it was probably the best veggie burger I've eaten. Fries were pretty good too.

I had the brisket, it was great. However the bearded guy (Not Gabe) is a total jerk and should not be interacting with customers. He was the same sour, unhelpful misanthrope when he worked at Booby's. Sorry you're mad at the world, man. Some of us just want to eat food and have fun.
