Decent selection, and my server was friendly.

I am such a moron sometimes. I'm kind of on a diet. Or eating healthy anyway. Thought I could come here and eat a good salad I could make for myself. This place could have some real potential. The salad bar was just Ok. The other food you don't dare eat if you're counting cals, or fat intake. The teriyaki steak was just dry as could be. The rice seemed to be 3 days old, and more dry than the steak. Anyway, if you got $12.50 in your pocket you want to throw away, come here.

First, I'm picky. I am not an easy grader, so why 5 stars? Because it's worth 5 stars for what it is. For about $12, I don't buy a $2 beverage and just get water, on a Saturday night I ate like a king in my opinion. Here's the rundown. 10 terriyaki wings, 10 buffalo wings, 2 big well-done steaks, 3 pieces of fried chicken, 2 pieces rotisserie chicken, 1 egg roll, 3 sliders without the buns, coleslaw, sausage and peppers, guacamole, tons and tons of banana pudding, bread pudding, slice of carrot cake, slice of chocolate cake, 2 sundaes, and 2 ice cream cones. I am forgetting a few things as well. I came hungry. Anywhere else all of this food would cost near $75 if not more. You don't have to wait to eat, you serve yourself, if you don't like it simply get something else. What more can you want? Do some questionable and rude people come here? Sure, welcome to the world, it's just part of living. I came on a Saturday night which I would assume is the worst time to come. I would love to come during an off-time like Tuesday night.

The food was really good. I mean really good. But do not go there on Saturday night if you are really hungry because you will be waiting in line to get in. People with a smaller or larger party will be allowed onto the dining floor before you even if they came after you because they admit you based off of available table size. There is TOO many seats for that facility. They have to remove some of the seats because too many people on the dining floor at once is a disaster. There was no silverware and when we mentioned it the busser said ok, she was brining more. She never did so I ate with my fingers. We mentioned it again to another wait staff member or maybe she was a shift manager and she said she would bring some and never did. NOBODY bothered to mention that there was additional silverware on the opposite end of the building. I would have walked my as* over there to get some myself (because they didn't offer) to get the silverware but nobody told me that existed. You have to climb over people and their kids to even see what you want and the place gets really dirty to walk around and sit in when it's that crowded at once. There needs to be opportunity for bussers to clean but there isn't when there is back to back crowding. Once a table leaves, all that is done is cleaning the table. No cleaning the crap underneath or around the table. That is gross. I just think that Saturday night was not a good night to go. The food was good and I am hoping the environment is better on a weekday.

I have never seen so many people lick their fingers and then touch the handles to the food! The Joliet one is so much better. It was a disgusting experience.

This is the closest Golden Corral around me, and as for the food it is always good. The salad bar is always stocked and not sloppily put together. Workers are always smiling and very pleasant. As for the atmosphere, there are always kids running around unattended, which can be very annoying when you are standing behind them waiting for your turn and they can barely get the food onto their plate. A kid out his finger in the chocolate fountain. Gross. Where are your parents!? One time I also saw a man get so mad and argue that he couldn't share his child's drink, that he refused to eat anything after that. The server also had to explain that they get in really big trouble with the managers if they don't charge for drinks, but he didn't care. I wanted to pull some change out of my pocket to pay for his two dollar drink just so he could leave her alone. But whatever. Besides the childish clientele, Golden Corral definitely gets my recommendation.

Been here a couple of times, and it's ok. You get what you pay for, if you want five star food go pay five star prices. It does get busy, but the food is good and cheap. The only problem is the other patrons. Some people just don't care about personal hygiene. And kids do treat the place like a playground on occasion. I will eat here again, but never at weekends because it gets to crowded.

OK, lets get this over with. This place is the Mecca of Sh!tholes. Then why did I throw 3 stars for it? 'Cos if you choose wisely you can eat well. Never mind the Calcutta-like Sanitary conditions Never mind the crappy service Never mind the inattention to temperature standards If you choose wisely you can eat well I'd rather eat here than Applebees, Chili's, Bakers Square, Denny's, and most other chain restaurants, primarily 'cos those places are sh!tholes masquerading as serious restaurants, and they suck right out loud. GC offers no subterfuge that they are a sh!thole. Yes, there are signs and adverts that are 100% hyperbole. But what they SHOULD say is "We Suck And We're Proud Of It!" That said... Get the Steaks at Rare or Medium Rare, and they're better than you'd think. The Broiled Fish have never disappointed. I hate Pot Roast, but theirs is pretty good. Broccoli/Cauliflower/Greens are all good-So are the Hush Puppies. How can you futz a baked potatoe? Review the items I just mentioned, and you can assemble a decent feed. And don't get me started about the Fried Chicken, 'cos it is among my favorite Fried Chicken ever. Crunchy and tasty old fashioned basic Fried Chicken. Get it fresh from the kitchen, and it's a treat, indeed. Skip the Chinese, Italian and Mexican Dishes. Ditto the Ribs if you're adverse to pure fat. Skip any of the "specials" like Bourbon Street Chicken. Soups are hit and miss, take a small sample and judge-i've had good and bad. The cold salads are usually pretty good, but the fruits are hit and miss. If they look good, they prolly are. Desserts? The Banana Pudding is always great. So is the sugar-free Blueberry Pie. Carrot Cake and RedVelvet Cakes are always good. They make a big deal about the Chocolate fountain. That's exactly what I say about it: Big Deal... The Soft Drinks always have a good "throw" They serve Pepsi products, and they always taste refreshing. Let's talk about the floor show. No matter your station in life, no matter how unfortunate a hand nature dealt you in the looks or figure department, no matter if your BMI is at critical mass, you'll see a bigger loser, an uglier troll, or a bigger mammal than you could ever be. Obese people love buffets, and you will get tired watching them go up for 6ths and 7ths. And you'll see people dressed in ways that you wont believe. It's fun watching suburbanites wander in there unaware of what lies within, and seeing the complete dread on their faces. Good luck trying to get a drink refill. And make sure you give the plates and silverware more than a cursory look. I think they wash every third piece for sure. And make sure you go to the can before you get there, 'cos you don't really want to visit the facilities. In fact, unless I have known filth on my hands, I won't even wash my hands here. I know where my hands have been. The very definition of cognitive dissonance is refusing to micturate/B.M at a place where you are going to sup. And keep an eye on the kids. Parents love to let their horrible little spawn run amok here, despite the rules that ask that no kids visit the buffets or plate/utensil stations. More than once i've seen a kid scratching their ass or picking their nose and then go for a swipe in the pudding with the same finger. Ewww! GC is an adventure for sure. I maintain you have to know what GC is to appreciate the Everest Room. Both ends of the stick, you know-(and I'll give you one guess as to which end of the stick GC is). Buffets, even the high-falootin' ones at Casinos have a certain amount of hazard at their heart. If you choose wisely and have a decent feed, you walk out feeling much better than when you went in. Honest. In the final analysis, GC is so bad it's good. This is in direct contrast to the defunct Olde Country Buffet which was just bad, in any case. Why? I dunno. Yelp makes no provision for the "What if's" So consider the rating TWO stars solid, with the potential of 3 stars if you choose wisely... Good Luck...

I wish I could give it separate ratings for food and cleanliness. The food was decent. Its not gourmet, I mean come on, its $11. But the buffet line was really filthy. Good: --Food --Our server, she (Lindsay) was on top of refills and kept the area clean. If it wasn't for her this visit would have really sucked. Bad: --The buffet was dirty. Plates sitting around, food scattered about that didn't quite make the trip from pan to plate. --Food servers. They were grumpy and didn't seem to care. It was weird, at one point a bunch of them went on break and sat and ate. It was still busy and left nobody working the dessert section. The clientele this night was pathetic. Kids running around unsupervised. I saw two different kids at two different times sticking their finger into the chocolate waterfall. People suck...watch your kids you douche bags!!!

They have lots of food to choose from. From steaks to pasta. Asian to American and Mexican food. I just wish they have more choices for the salad bar. But this is great place if you dont feel like waiting to be served and your just hungry. I think its worth your money.

If you long for the taste of ass, this is your place. Long for a restaurant where sanitation is optional? If youre wondering what prisoners eat, think 'two steps up' from what you get here. Watch the employees transform ground beef into a god damn hockey puck. Enjoy the crispy crunch of their meatloaf. Most of the deserts look like something I scooped up in my cats litter box. Walk over and savor the taste of Italy with their Asian dishes. Watch as the cole slaw and potato salads turn from room temperature to luke warm. Enjoy large round crackers with a very thin coating of tomato-based sauce and cheese. What I REALLY enjoyed was the lake of oil over the ground meat for the tacos. YUM! If you could somehow taste Justin Beibers music this is it.

The only reason why this review gets two stars is for the food. I have tried to get into this restaurant at least 10 times. Out of that 10 I was served twice. One of the two times I paid but there was no seating available for 45 minutes. This seems to be there practice. Everybody pays get in the door regardless of seating. Then people hovering around with their trays. There's a lack of cleanliness and continuity. Although the food is halfway decent service is terrible the crowds are terrible. And the biggest thing for this restaurant is there is absolutely no ability for handicapped individuals to circumvent this restaurant.

  • Laura S.

DISGUSTING!!!! The clientele and environment is scary at best. People are just waiting to knife you over a chicken leg or for your place in the meat line. This place is just plain DIRTY. My feet stuck to the floor and they don't have enough people cleaning off the tables. Food is just ok. Go to OCB. The food is about the same but it's much cheaper. The 1st time I went it was awful, gave it another chance and it was still awful. They wont see me back.

The line when we got there was like waiting at six flags to get on the rides. Needless to say the steak and chicken were excellent. The floors where sticky, the bathrooms had no toilet paper, and there was alot of people there. Our server was nice, she made sure our plates where cleared, and if we needed refills. They definetely beat Old Country Buffet on the quality and price. Overall, it was worth the long wait.

To me nothing says "America" like gorging on food at a buffet. Out of the standard buffet places in the area, Golden Corral has to be ranked among the best. I love the fact there is a vast selection of food. Everything from steak, salads to fish and chicken can be found. And did I mention it tastes fresh as well? Not some nasty microwaved crap that has been reheated over and over. The one drawback maybe the fact that the clientele is special. Expect crying kids and people pushing you to get to the food. One time I went to get a medium steak and got it ahead of another woman and she accused the grill-man of being racist. Go figure.

I can't believe this place has a permit to sell food!! Or to just stay in business for anything at all other than as a toxic dumping ground! The experience was so bad the first time we went there that we had to try it again, simply because we couldn't quite comprehend how crappy our first visit was; it defies comprehension unless you actually see it in action, and we figured it had to be as a result of a full moon or prison break or something like that... First visit was pretty much like the negative reviews say here; warm lettuce and salad stuff, cold entrees, VERY DIRTY countertops, dirty dishes piled so high on 2 tables behind us that our server couldn't fit in to give us refills; we had to meet her half-way. The restrooms looked like a bomb exploded, a tornado hit, and earthquake struck and Godzilla had the runs all at the same time. Even my 8 year old son was disgusted (he actually got violently sick about 1 hour later and vomited through the night) and was afraid to stand there to pee. We had to make tracks to a nearby gas station for him when we left. My son loves fried clams, and he wanted to try some there. They were marked as clams, but were actually fried popcorn shrimp. Ya know, the kind you get in a can with full intestines? I told the manager who told me that those were clams, even when I peeled off all of the breading to reveal a curled, pink and poopy shrimp and showed it to him. He ran off and took the sign down, but didnt remove the food, so now it was just some non-descript fried breading with no sign to define what they were. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the parents there were allowing their kids to run absolutely amuck with no concern about how it affected both the clientele and work staff (and a childs social development). They were dipping into the chocolate fountain, nibbling cookies and putting them back. One took amouthfull of Jell-o and spit it back into the cup and returned the cup to the counter. I went to tell the manager but the line to talk to him was too long so I ended up just throwing the container away before somebody else tried to eat it. I tracked the little delinquent down and found his parents. When I told them of the lil monster and what he did, they apathetically told me how to make love to myself. C'mon guys; hire a babysitter or a warden or something, or better yet TEACH THE LITTLE BASTARDS how to behave in a public setting, or keep the little buggers at home! I could go on some more, but you get the idea. The second visit went as poorly as the first, so I won't go into detail here other than the highlight of that visit. All things were practically the same as on the first visit. When we were sufficiently disgusted again and were ready to leave, my son noticed, as if by providence, a small, somewhat rounded mass, darkish brown to black, sitting on top of the spaghetti and meatballs. He pointed it out to us. I pointed it out to the manager, who informed us it was a meatball. Hence, it was in the spaghetti. No kidding, blackened globule, cold as death, hardened exterior resembling stool; I know, it's a meatball? The spaghetti was a give away I guess... I've seen meatballs, some better than others, but this was like no meatball I had ever seen. I really did look like old stool; I thought at first it may have come out of the apallingly disgusting bathroom. The manager picked it out of the tray with some tongs, smelled it, said it was all ok and put it back on top of the spaghetti!! It was like that scene from "Caddyshack" when Bill Murray finds the Baby Ruth in the pool but more disgusting and less funny in real life. When I confronted the manager to ask why he didn't throw it away, he told me that somebody will eat it (My God, nooooo...) and suggested that my family simply didn't like a quality buffet. What an overinflated, blind eye view of oneself... I could certainly write more, but would you all take the time to read it all? I won't waste any more time on this P.O.S. buffett. Neither should you. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

This restaurant is below standards. It reminded me of homeless shelter. Utensils , Plates. And food tray was like ten years old and degrading and damaged. Worst I ever seen in my life. The plates where wet not even dried out. This location need a major face lift. Food safety is way below standards . I went with 4 of my friends will never go back.

My wife and i went out to Golden Corral over the weekend and we were not impressed with the food at all. My wife said for the money we could have went anywhere else and fed both of us and we would have enjoyed not only the food but the atmosphere as well. This place needs some TLC. there dishes are not very clean when they come out of the dish washer. The steak has got to be the worse cut of beef ever and thats if it even is beef. I will definatly will never go there again no matter how starving i am. This is more a kids/teens place than anything, they can eat cheap and eat alot.

I came to this place as a skeptic. Steak at a buffett?!?? Wth. This place totally changed my skepticism! So goooood. The steak was very good, as well as all of the other food they provide. I went on a monday (seafood night!) and left full and happy. Those hush puppies were my absolute favorite. I seriously ate like 708349203 of them. Salad with strips of steak is very good. Awesome variety of dressings. Not a fan of the crab cakes they have to offer.. they're kind of sweet which is weird. The range of dessert they have to offer is surprisingly good. The brownies are down right my absolute favorite!! Mmmmmm. I want some nowwww. Service is good. There actually isn't really any service other than those people who pick up your dirty plates.

When I go here, my expectations are not huge. First, I know this is a buffet and not overly fancy (in other words, don't expect Four Seasons). When I eat here, I will prefer to go for lunch. The staff has been good with keeping food fresh and the trays full. The meats (in particular the roasted meats) have been good. The problem I have is the salad bar- good stuff but not attended. I go midweek (and early, like before noon) when kids are in school. The one thing that worries me is that kids (and sadly some adults) pick foods and then place it back in the tray (this is part of the reason I stopped eating at another nameless buffet years back; the NAME of the place turns my stomach). So to summarize: - the steaks are decent (don't mistake it for Outback). - pot roast is rock solid (especially with mashed potatoes). - beef brisket & ribs are ok (don't forget your favorite BBQ place). - fried chicken is good. - meatloaf better than you might think. - vegetables seem to be fresh. - salad bar is good with good choices (rotates) but needs supervision of some sort.

By far the worst buffet ever. Always dirty and the food is not prepared well. I had stopped going but was asked by family to give it another chance. Once again it was a total fail. This shows that the management is not well trained. The Joliet location is a little better.

The food was ok, but nothing to remember. The chicken was unrecognizable not sure what pieces they had all the chicken was just BIG! The salad bar was messy and needed to be replenished. Now I will say the steak, rolls and dessert were delicious and the waitress was nice.

I am the type of person who likes variety when I eat. You will never catch me ordering pasta at a restaurant. So, though I am ashamed to admit I like buffets, sometimes it is a necessity. I have been known to down 5 full plates or more when going to buffets. I can eat.. that I am not ashamed of. First off, Old country buffet comes nowhere near this place in terms of quality and freshness of the food. As far as ambiance and clientele it is the same. The staff at golden corral is pretty good. They bring you continuous refills and clear the table often, even when very busy. I need to point out that your server does require a tip. The staff of these of buffets are paid the same amount hourly that a server at any restaurant makes. Currently that rate is $4.65 per hour. I do not know how these establishments get away with this, since essentially they do the same job as a busboy. I guess that is just how it is. My favorite items were the pot roast, the steak (fabulous for a buffet), the cantaloupe (which was perfectly ripe), and the salad bar. If you are not a fan of buffets in general, this place should be your exception. Very clean and very good quality!

This place deserves the four stars it has received from me and at the same time it doesn't. I know Golden Corral Can't do anything about the hoodness of this place. But hot damn, this place is one step away from Compton. My dining experience would have been more pleasant if the lady next to me wasn't too busy disciplining her children in the middle of the buffet line. The food is great. The short order chef finishes off these mammoth steaks to you liking and gives it to you. They have everything imaginable...Shrimp? Yes! Pasta? Yes! Ribs? Yes! OCB doesn't even come close to comparing to the price for the quality of food. The food is cooked perfectly and attended to make sure its hot and edible. I love the fact that I have many choices for my meal. The customer service was prompt and friendly. I showed interest on a pork chop that needed to be cooked a little longer and I told the chef that I would be back for it. This is how awesome he is, he brought the steak to my table fresh off the grill!! WOW! I am happy I found a place to go to when we have big appetites. I am actually excited to go back.

This place is an absolute dump, the food on the buffet is not rotated or replaced as it should be. It is NOT sanitary as I felt like I needed to take a shower when I left. The tables were stickier than the floor. I saw a staff member coughing in his hands then touching the serving utensils. This place is basically understaffed and dirty. In addition, it is extremely loud. I went on a weekend and there was a wait. You can expect to sit and hear every conversation in the room. It was like being in a high school cafeteria. We sat in front of the chocolate fountain and watched several kids stick their finger in the chocolate. I even saw a worker see this and turn away. When I went home I thought about chugging a bottle of antibiotics.... The board of health needs to get in there on a weekend to see what I saw. Stay away!!!!!

I wish there was a 2.75 star rating! :) So it's a buffet with food that's a little better than average buffet food. I stopped in here for a quick lunch while I was out running errands. It was a pretty large spread for lunch with probably 60 different items including desserts. The mini steak burgers were good as was the cauliflower! Very filling! The lunch was 8.79 (incl tax) without a drink but it's a good variety of food. It's unfortunate that some flies found their way into the restaurant though.

Great Food, all you can eat buffet and steak. I only go during the week when they have more control over their restaurant and service, forget the weekend...way too crowded and service gets delayed on buffet and cleanup....other than that, great place to eat during the week.

After ten years of avoiding buffets I finally returned........ So this place is easy to get too and the food WAS very appeasing However after my first plate I went back to get another because I missed some stuff and it wouldn't fit on my first plate, LMAO. A fly landed on my hand which in turn got me naseuos which in turn (lol) ran me to the bathroom to call Earl and his crew.....O-M-G. I don't know whether to recommend or not......LMAO

I love buffets because of the variety, and Golden Corral has all the comfort food you can want. Someone I know said it's "the Ponderosa of Vegas buffets" because although it's got a huge variety, it's not fancy, and it's cheap ($7-9!). It's good ol' American food. The cooked to order steaks, pot roast, mashed potatoes, and mac n cheese are my fave. America! You can find nachos and a baked potato bar too. I'm still dreaming of the two plates of meat I ate. If you're disgusted by the morbidly obese, then keep your eyes to yourself...

Okay, I once again came here last Sunday for Mother's day. My grandmother is kind of stubborn, and she wanted to come here for Mother's Day. So we all went. This time the food could have been a little better to me. Plus, the parking lot was totally packed, and people were constantly honking at us for a stupid parking space. The line was way out the door. My mother wanted to go home, but my grandma wanted to stay. The bathroom also had a very long line. I do not think we will go back on a holiday again.

Entered a skeptic, left feeling pleasantly impressed that the food wasn't bad, as I expected it to be. In fact, it was good. I asked the lady at cash if she liked working here and with a genuine smile she said "very much". Was quiet at 11am, so no screaming kids like I read about in other posts (with 2 of my own I'd be ok anyway)

My real rating is 2.5 ! Yes, I know it is a buffet, but man it is really crowded here ! Okay we went on a Saturday about seven which is two no no in the buffet eating business but yeah I was being optimistic ! As we entered it was not bad the line was moving but soon after the take your money we had to wait to be seated! They should build a waiting area, cause seeing people walking by with heaps of diet killing food is not fair ! I am ready to push my stomach far pass the legal LIMIT TOO ! After a agonizing seemly like endless wait we were seating . My hubby knows the drill he waits while my daughter and I stragized on our food piling abilities .So stand outs were the pot roast stew, the braised brisket, breaded shrimp, baked fish ,fresh baked rolls, sweet potato casserole with apples and peach cobbler the whole Chinese food display . Cons the ice cream was out cause countless unsupervised children poured until their cones or bowls over flowed with ice cream, the salad bar needed to be tidy up and manned by employees for line button adults and kids !

This place is great for a buffet..They're way better than Old Country Buffet. They are always packed on Sundays. I don't do buffets much ,but this is cool if you're in the neighborhood or if you're in a group, they have something for everyone......I'm getting hungry.

I do like Golden Corral, but it is not better than Old Country Buffet. The food is pretty good and I love their desserts and salads. However, you all won't believe what I witnessed on my last visit!! A pregnant woman was yelling and screaming at her bf because she saw him with another female. The man couldn't take it anymore so he set his plate down and started to hit her!! She took a place and cracked it on his head. Then she grabbed a huge knife! Everyone started running out of the place. We had to take our stuff and get out, too. It 's too bad for the people who just got there...they paid their money and everything. But how stupid can that man be? Why would anyone want to fight a pregnant woman...

Decent food. Great prices. If you want to get your money's worth -- stay away from the salad bar and stick to the steaks right off the grill, the seafood nights, and the awesome home-cooked fare. Desserts are pretty damn good too, honestly. Only thing I don't like is the salt content/MSG that seems to be in pretty much everything -- but, then again, you don't go to a buffet looking for a lettuce wrap. If you're feeding a family -- or a small army -- this is the place to stop to get your grub on.

This was the worst golden coral, i have been to, never again, the food was cold, steam table nasty, kids all over the place, the bathroom run down. The manager said the reason the steam tables were nasty is because they are busy and no one told her it was graduations today, that was a stupid reply as a manager. I will never recommended this place to no one

While dining at the Aurora Golden Corral, a former employee of the BOLINGBROOK GOLDEN CORRAL came by. The former server said that more and more people are seen dining in Aurora that used to be seen dining at the Bolingbrook location. He said he saw three former Bolingbrook diners dining in Aurora in just the past two weeks. As this was said, I could see two former Bolingbrook Golden Corral diners seated a short distance away. When asked why I was not going there anymore, I said that I had several extremely unpleasant experiences with a server named Ashley - and after expressing concern about her to managers, nothing was done. Therefore, I told him, I haven't been there for several months. I told him that I have gone to other restaurants instead of Golden Corrals because the other ones besides Bolingbrook's are quite a distance for me. He shook his head and said, "Ashley! She's STILL there!" He also said he knows that there are other "people like you who have gone there 'forever' have left because of her!" This former Bolingbrook employee told me that Ashley - who he said was formerly known as Ken - has been fired several times. Actually, he said she was fired several times as Ken and most recently as Ashley - but for some odd reason, he said she is hired back every time they let her go. Again, this is what I was told! I told him that Rosie, the manager, actually told me the last time I was there and expressed concern about Ashley, "I don't like to fire people!" even though I told her that she - as the manager - needs to "be more concerned about the people who bring money in the door of the restaurant rather than the people who take money out of the restaurant." Obviously, she doesn't care what a customer thinks or Ashley would be gone for good by now. This former Bolingbrook employee shook his head and said, "And there is so much proof here (at the Aurora restaurant) that Ashley is driving people away from that place." And, of course, like me, they are probably only going to other Golden Corrals once in a great while due to the distance which equates to the restaurant chain losing business! I told him I talked to the district manager - who I saw when I was at the Joliet location - about Ashley and Rosie's response to complaints about her, too. The district manager, too, shook his head and expressed concern about the employment of Ashley when we spoke a couple of months ago - yet she mysteriously remains! The former Bolingbrook employee that I spoke with at the Aurora location also said that other employees have been fired from employment at the Bolingbrook restaurant as well - and then, in time, are hired back. However, never - he said - has anyone been brought back as many times as Ashley has. Knowing Ashley is still there, I - and apparently quite a few other people - are not.

The biggest note about this restaurant is the cleanliness. Tables dirty everywhere and there was only one waitress to clean. She had too much work. No one wiped down the bar in a while, it was just a mess. The food was dry and stale. Had been sitting for too long. Sounded like a concert in the kitchen as they were blasting Spanish music. Requested a refund but was told there was no manager present. Stay away from this place!

Just like mom used to make. If she was a crack whore! Really, I can't try to be nice about this place because I have so much to say that I don't know where to start. I have been here before so I wasn't expecting much. And I got so much less. You have to pay before you get in and there was only one lady in front of me. Yes it did take 10 minutes because she kept adding soda's and then they wouldn't get her a tray. Don't open up the next register or anything. We wouldn't want to convenience the customers or anything. Then they would expect that kind of service all the time! We get our table, set our drinks down and went to get our chow. There was 5 different kinds of shrimp. All as cold as ice which was amazing because it was warm in there. The shrimp had so much breading packed on you could have used them for table legs. And the coconut shrimp smelled like Hawaiian Tropic? The ribs were absolutely disgusting. They had so much fat on them I couldn't find the meat. I was trying to get a piece of chicken and there was this broad with a broken leg eating the fries out of the trough and yelling at the employees to bring more fries. WTF! The Fried chicken was ok, but they don't have any pieces that are recognizable? No legs, wings, just mystery meat? Don't even bother with the flavored oriental meats. Yek! There was food all over the floor. Wet spots that people were warning each other about. And we had 6 dirty dishes at our table of 3 and all our sodas were empty. But our waitress was busy for the last 15 minutes holding up the wall making googly eyes at some jack ass. I really did not want to make a scene in this dump. So I went and got more plates and kept stacking them on the corner of the table. But what smokes my oysters is the Frickin manager was right in front of us and had no problem with anything that was going on. Has anyone from corporate ever been to this location. Or is it like Home Depot were they call a week ahead of time so the store managers have time to schedule their best employees and clean the store up? I've been to several golden corrals but this one was just plain badddd! They had the chocolate fountain which was disgusting tasting like this nestle quick mix or hot chocolate mix. The kids were all over it with their grubby little hands. The food was nasty, greasy.

Omg I made the mistake of going to the bathrooms first. It totally prejudiced my view. The bathroom look like something out of Tijuana. I kept thinking, if this is what the bathrooms look like, what kind of sanitation is there in the kitchen. The food was average buffet faire. Only reason we went was because my son begged us to go there for his special 13th birthday dinner. I will never be back. Seems like the bathrooms are a common theme amungst fellow yelpers.

I'm amazed that this place got an average of three stars! I have been there several times, only one of which was through my own choice. The other were business meetings and I had no say. You can find good food here, but it's surrounded by a lot of deep fried things. The soft ice cream dispenser is kind of disgusting. The service is, as you might expect. There is a lot of noise and, given the nature of the place, a lot of people moving around, ALWAYS! Much has been said about the clientele and their rambunctious kids. All of it is true. Consider the neighborhood and its proximity to I-55. If someone is treating you, then go for it and choose from the food troughs carefully. If you have any choice in the matter, then go elsewhere!

OMG!!!! Please people, DO NOT EAT HERE!!!, im a certified food handler trainer, and this place was a crib for bacteria, not only i observe cross contamination, when the cooks put new food on top of the old one with out changing the pans, the dressing look like they were there for days, when i told the manager she scream at me "i have 10 years managing and this food its fine" i have to take my family out of there as soon as i can, but not before talking with two servers that apologized with me for the bad service provide for the manager, they told me that when they talk with her, she doesn't listen to reasons and they being loosing business because of lack of sanitation, the bathrooms didn't have plastic bags, that means you put your papers and god knows how they handled that, and the worst part the owner were there and they look like don't care to check with customers, this was one of the worst experience in dine in, in my life, I BEGGING YOU, CHECK BEFORE YOU EAT HERE DOESN'T WORTH THE TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL.

I forgot about this place but I will give it my earlier review! Upon entering this place I was slightly taken back but due to the size of the crowd that always comes here I decided to give it a try! It wasn't bad!! I came here with my Dad who is the King of cheap food flair! He knew how it all worked and guided me through the whole 10 yards. It was a week day so there were no screaming children just a bunch of hungry customers! It was kept very clean, there were people constantly cleaning up the buffet and around people's stations. There were no sign of bugs flying around. The food was good, pretty tasty! I remember the Pot Roast being very yum-mo! No complaints!

This place was very good in the beginning when it first opened about 15 years ago and the staff were enthusiastic and cared about running a respectable buffet. But those days are long gone. The food is what you'd typically expect at a sub-Casino-grade buffet like this place, Old Country Buffet, etc. Most of it is acceptable, but other things about the place overshadow the food and make the restaurant generally undesirable to visit. The majority of the cliente are shady and suspicious: future and present convicts, welfare recipients, people who look like they're from the TV show "Intervention"....you get the idea. Kids are mostly unsupervised by the aforementioned scumbag loser parents who need parental supervision themselves as they rudely push their way up to the buffet, filling the plates so high and sloppily wasting so much food that the word GLUTTONY doesn't adequately describe the scene. If you are a self-respecting person with hygiene and manners, you will be uncomfortable here. The staff couldn't care less. They violate all kinds of sanitation and food handling rules on a regular basis. Going to the bathroom in the forest preserve under a tree is cleaner than using Golden Corral's restrooms. If I could place just one bet on what Bolingbrook restaurant is destined to close down in the coming years, this Golden Corral is it! Without anything changing, this place will not survive. It will catch up to them.

My dad once told me that when he was in college, he judged restaurants by three criteria, "cheap," "lots" and "good." Most of the time Golden Corral qualifies as all of those things. Occasionally you can add gross to them. You don't go here expecting a fine meal. You go here either to get full, or as I like to do, sample a bunch of different things. I generally go here for a cheat day celebration when I'm trying to be healthy and watch my diet... Wait. What? I swear that makes sense. Do I need to rephrase? Maybe I'll explain. When I eat healthy, I do so 6 days a week. But I take the 7th off to eat what I want, so I will come here because I can sample several things without feeling like a total pig. And yes, I can limit it to one or two plates. Not that you have to here. Ahem. Stay all day. Bring the eatin' pants. Live your life to the fullest. When I come, I try to do so for breakfast, and if you go early enough things are still relatively fresh and untouched by the millions of unwashed masses that tend to congregate at this fine establishment during the day. Don't even think of coming at night. By then the floors are sticky, the food has been sitting out way too long, (my friends have actually gotten sick from certain items that may have been past their point of freshness) and the place looks like a bomb went off. In summary. Good food. Good prices. Huge selection. Cheap. Lots. Good.

It's a inexpensive buffet. When you can't decide what your in the mood for, this is probably a good choice. First, contrary to what I read in other reviews, this tends to be a very clean facility. It has a pretty good selection of meats, an adequate selection of vegetables and an outstanding dessert selection. Depending on how busy they are, they can be somewhat slow on the drink refills, so it is probably good you can purchase a large drink. Wait...could those two be connected somehow? As buffets go, this would be the one in the area I recommend.

Gross. Just gross. Food was bland pretty standard. Old Country Buffet had a much better selection. Didn't find anything appealing enough to go for seconds. I've seen frozen pizzas that look better than theirs did. And forget trying to get a steak. Seems like the employees just do not care about keeping things clean. Wipe up the counters for goodness sakes. Prep areas open for all to see didn't look like they had been wiped down for hours. Salad bar was messy. The best was when they were setting out the deviled eggs. The person just dumped them on the empty dirty platter and filled them up. This place needs new and better management-or at least someone who is better sanitation trained running the place. One thing for sure!! WILL NOT RETURN!!

Only plus is the cheap food the kids seem to like. I love variety but there's nothing I want a lot of at all. The steak is the only thing I would say is good. The bathroom is sick. My biggest complaint and the reason I've only been here a couple times, the customers, gross gross gross. Rude and all. That's all I'll say about that. I go in, hold my nose, let the kids have a field day.

We used to frequent this location often, unfortunately it has gone downhill. Soooo downhill. Vinny (the manager) was all about giving orders, saw a plate of food go in front of him, stopped a worker from grilling and told the employee to move it. No, by all means, don't you lift a finger or anything! They have breakfast as part of the dinner menu now, unfortunately if you want bacon or sausage, you must wait. We were told they would be out in a moment, we waited 3 minutes, then asked my new buddy Vinny how much longer, he said 6 minutes. Why tell me shortly when you mean 10 minutes? Our waitress was awful, she passed us several times (at least 4) didn't even glance our way. Another waitress helped us out after we called on her. Vinny's new hires presumably. ::sigh:: now I remember why we stopped coming. But the clientele doesn't strike me as the review reading kind, nor does the management. Sad.

I was very thankful I had a 2 for one coupon.I thought the food was decent but because some parents thinks its funny to have their kids stick their fingers in the food,I will skip the GC.Time and time again, people over the intercom would ask parents to stop their childrens bad habits...but it never stopped.I did have a very nice lady taking care of the empty plates and bringing refills of soft drinks.

There is too much room for improvement here. First of all the food is okay. It's what you would expect at a typical buffet. What bothers me most is the people here. There was a guy sneezing and coughing and handling all the spoons. Then I saw a teenager grabbing fries with his bare hands instead of using the tongs. This same teenager was grabbing pizza in the same manner. Anything that didn't have a tong, he was just using his hands instead. I really wish Golden Corral management would post signs about these sanitary issues. I would even suggest that they have an employee standing around just to police the sanitization of the buffet. I would also like to recommend that they exchange the tongs and serving spoons every hour. It just looks like the same old utensils are being used all day. Also the bathrooms are ridiculously nasty. The floors are sticky with who knows what.... Overall, the experience would have been better if I felt as though management cared about cleanliness.

If buffets were department stores, this would be the Neimun-Marcus of the buffet world. I don't know why I love this place the way I do. Usually buffets generally scare the crap out of me, but this one is above the standard. One of the last times I was here, I actually saw the manager kick a couple out because they were letting their five year old paw the food and other types of disgusting things. The best thing about this place is that included in the lunch and dinner price, you can have all the steak you can eat cooked to order! (OK, it may not be fillet Mignon, but not a shabby cut) I can feel my arteries clogging every time I leave this place. Last time I was here, was in between breakfast and lunch, and I made the mistake of trying a piece of what I think was chicken fried steak still left over from breakfast. Completely inedible.

After much anticipation, I tried Golden Corral, expecting it to be aeons better than OCB, but it kinda wasn't and it kinda was. The selection is similar to OCB, but the service is far better. I went for dinner and they had the steak/shrimp thing going on which was good, but there were soooo many people lined up that it took awhile to get. The salad bar had a lot of variety and looked fresh. The soups sucked, but I guess no one really cares, because there were only 2 different kinds. (actually one, since the other was chili). I liked the pot roast and dinner rolls a lot. Nothing else stood out. There were a ton of choices for desserts and looked great. Having a big sweet tooth, I tried most of the items and they were all okay. GC offers a great value and I'd definitely check it out again if I'm in the area and having a craving for pot roast and warm dinner rolls.

I love food and I love to eat. It is one of the true pleasures in life. I don't frequent buffets as much as I used to so I need to be particular when I do choose a buffet. This place is always doing a rockin' business. I have never seen this place less than packed. Even in off peak hours the place is always more than half full. They always have an amazing selection but really sets this place apart from the pack. You can get yourself a cooked to order steak. It is not going to be the finest cut of meat you could ask for but you can still eat as much as you want of it which is OK in my book. You can't really talk about the service very much, I mean come on it is a buffet. The staff do their best as they can to keep the place cleaned up. With the volume they do here they sometimes fall a bit behind so I won't hold it against them too much!

Much better than Old Country Buffet, food has improved over time and always had good wait staff. The only problem is the tendency for the place to attract large wedding parties, graduation groups etc, put 100 noisy people in there and they have taken the place over.

  • Kim B.

The food is pretty ok, but, like most buffets, children run wild. I've seen too many children too many times unattended and it doesn't sit well with me. The salad bar was ok, not great but not bad....and the food is okay...not great, but not bad. The thing that really turned me off is the restroom. It was kinda disgusting and to top it off, the last time I was there a pregnant lady and her friends were in there smoking & I saw quite a few customers leave without washing their hands....haven't been back since then.

If you get what you pay for is true, this place earned its ranks among the top feeding troughs. The key attraction is the meat (do not call them steak) that comes off the grill that consistently tough, dry and tasteless. The rest of the items are about as generic as the choices at Old Country Buffet. The food here can hardly be called comfort in anyway. Much less can be said for some of the people and their offsprings that descend on this place. The air is filled with screaming kids that eat off the floors and are constantly on the move. Probably a survival technique taught at home. There is only one word to describe this place - disgusting. Been here once but never again.

They have lots of food to choose from. From steaks to pasta. Asian to American and Mexican food. I just wish they have more choices for the salad bar. But this is great place if you dont feel like waiting to be served and your just hungry. I think its worth your money.

Go figure.

  • Dave Y.

Sad.

Cheap. Lots. Good.

    (3)
  • Scott M.
