If your are a big fan of thin crust pizza then you should give Monical's a try. They make really crisp thin crust. Their sauce and toppings are also pretty good.

Monical's has been our favorite pizza to order when we have visited my grandparents out in Central Illinois for many years. I just went a few weeks ago for the first time in awhile and had a great experience. They have consistently awesome thin crust pizza. We ate in the restaurant with my Grandma for her birthday. I will say that the dessert pizza is not worth it though nor are their pizzas with more adventurous toppings. Stick with the pepperoni (make sure it is thin crust) and you will be plenty pleased with this place.

Ordered carryout from this Monicals - two pizzas and an order of wings. The good: pizza, as always. Best thin crust pizza in town, no contest. I'd give the pizza 5 stars every time. It was also ready on time for my order. The bad: wings and service. The wings were very, very small, and were pretty soggy. You could get better wings frozen from the grocery store, or at about any other place in town - one star. The service was pretty lackluster overall as well. The guy at the register when I picked my food up looked like I was bothering him more than anything. Another guy in a nicer uniform (manager I assume?) actually got my food, and he was no better. However, the food was ready on time and the order was correct, so they get a couple stars for that. Mediocre experience overall.

The only reason I'm giving one star is because the customer service sucks! I ordered and wasn't asked a name, given a total and then hung up on. I can't believe a place that has been in bloomington so long would hire such idiots. I love the food, but that was enough to make me never go back. Looking forward to seeing what other pizza places bloomington has to offer! Peace out! Train your employees to treat people with respect!

All Bad !!! The pizza comes out and they didn't give me no plates I thinking am I suppose to eat out my salad plate !!!! Never going back!!!

i went in here with one other guy and we ate a family pleaser special. that is a testament to both how thin the pizza is and how good everything is. the pizza is like a crispy little bite of wonderfulness and the salad is great with a mixture of the ranch and french dressings. mmmmmm.

I do not understand the positive reviews. Crust is like a stale cracker, sauce is bland, cheese tastes fake, toppings are canned. You would be better off getting frozen pizza at the grocery store.

Love their thin crust pizza!!! Just about as good as the Monical's in Canton, IL....just about as good. My daughter and I tried it and it was wonderful. Fun wait staff...just a good experience....

Wow, this pizza is amazing. This crust is out of the world. Light and crispy and perfect. The sauce is awesome. Amount of pizza toppings is LEGIT. The salad is fresh, and simple. Sometimes simple is better. But you top off the simple with their house dressing and you have the best salad in the world. I like to mix the creamy italian with the house red dressing. You will not be disappointed. I guarantee this. Service is always great. Prices aren't gonna leave you homeless.

I have tried. I have. FOR NINE YEARS... to love your pizza. My honesty puts me at risk for being blacklisted in #blono. I have tried it with you "special sauce" aka salad dressing. I have used shaker cheese (technical term). I have tried multiple topping combinations. - Your service has been great. - I have no complaints about your successful efforts to keep my Pepsi filled to the brim. - Your pepperolies rock. Addicting. And the ranch dressing is creamy and fattening as it should be. - But your salads used to be awesome then you went to that shredded crap. If you return to real lettuce I will up your rating to a 3. To my fellow Chicagoans: You do not go here because you love it. You go here because you love someone else and that is the way it should be. I need to clarify. There is nothing specific that is wrong with their pizza. As far as thin crust goes it is standard. And as the Yelp! rating engine says... 2 stars = "Meh. I've experienced better." And indeed I have. To my fellow #blono residents: I do not mean to belittle your love for monical's. I can honestly say I have not had a bad meal, and that when i go I do enjoy it. But the Bottom line______________ I do not crave it. Ever. I never suggest it. I only cave because my husband has such an emotional attachment to this place. When I want pizza... i want chicago style deep dish and I go to Rosati's. (Though rumor has it Giordano's is coming!) When i want thin crust I go to Tobin's. Keepin' it local and lovin' the meatlovers. P.S. This will sound funny but the quality and service are vastly different at each location in Bloomington/Normal. Despite my 2 rating, this one is the best.

I love the crust, sauce, and party style cut! This brings me back memories of my youth. Service was great and price was right!

Not my first rodeo. I've been to all of the Monical's Pizzas in the Bloomington-Normal area. This is my 2nd favorite. Top honors go to the one on Eldorado. It always seem to have best quality food. Tonight we got a large (16") 2-topping pizza, regular order of bread sticks (5) and 1 beer. Sad to say, beer selection is very limited. They only have about 5 kinds (bottles) and none blew me away. Even less on tap. Food came out very fast and usually does. This is one reason we like Monical's so much...we can bring our 2-year old! Sooner the food comes out, the better. I'm sure some of you can relate. Despite the fast turn-around time, the food was delicious. Not over-cooked, not doughy. I really like the flavor of Monical's pizza. Slight char, very thin crust cut into tiny squares. Only draw back is that with those tiny pieces, I"m inclined to eat waaaaay more than I should. But that's a "me" problem, not Monical's. Total cost came out around $28 (before tip). A large pizza with just cheese will run you about $18. Monical's is not the cheapest joint in town, but I often feel I get what I pay for. It's the closest thing (flavor wise) to a good brick oven pizza I've found in the area. Not many of those around. So until that day comes, Monical's has my vote (and much of my business).

I grew up with Monical's Pizza in much the same way that the online baby chain smoker sensation grew up with cigarettes. I was addicted from birth and have always craved it since. I used to live in Bloomington and frequented this establishment often, so I guess you could say that I'm a regular. Not regular enough to go in and order the "usual", but they know me....maybe. First I will say that you really can't go wrong with Monicals pizza. All of their toppings are high quality, there is no thin crust pizza that matches in overall taste, and the entire Family Pleaser well, let's just say it lives up to its name. They changed their image and added menu items a few years back, and it was all for the better. Their pastas are incredibly good (I've had the baked ravioli on more than one occasion) and the Pepperollis are something you NEED to get as an appetizer (along with salad and breadsticks of course.) This particular Monicals is on the highest end of customer service. It does get a little crowded on the weekends, but definitely worth the wait. Oh, and a little tip that only people that grew up with Monicals know about: put their homemade French dressing on your pizza. Trust me. It's like adding cake, brownies, sugar, butter, frosting and magic to your ice cream. And that's not even a good comparison.

Oohh yeahh!! The first to review!!! I couldn't be happier to be reviewing my favorite pizza in the entire world, Monical's! This was the first location that I ever tried this amazing pizza, and in my opinion it is the coolest. There is a faux tree in the middle of athe seating area, and there are two large dining area's. I enjoy sitting in the booths in the south dining area because there are cool looking canopy's over them. The decor has nicknack's on the wall so you always have something to look at and discuss. This Monical's is always busy in the evening's espicially the weekends. If you have never tried Monicals pizza, its awesome. I love the paper thin crust. The family pleaser is a great value, it comes with a Large pizza, huge salad and a 2 liter of soda. I also love Monical's breadsticks, and for the over 21 crowd, they serve beer!!! I live in Chicago where the Za is plentiful, but will never compare to my hometown Monical's..in fact I get it everytime I go home. Do yourself a favor and try it!!

Without a doubt Monical's has the best thin crust pizza in the world! And not only is it great tasting, my Weight Watcher's person say that the individual pleaser cheese pizza is only 11 points which is very good. I understand that the secret to a great pizza is its crust. Monicals crust is made using a secret family recipe that requires that it cure overnight before it can be made into pizza. At our house it is understood that every Friday night we are going to Monical's Pizza and then go to a movie. The only exception is if we vary the movie night then we'll go to Monical's on that night. The restaurant has been remodled and they have added a whole selection of Italian food which I understand is great but we just go there for the Pizza. As part of the remodeling, the faux tree was removed but the rest of the atmosphere is as described by Ryan D. And in addition their place mat has activities for adults and kids to help pass the time. I have been to New Haven, CT at some of the "real Italian" Pizza places and which claim to have the best pizza. In my mind they don't even come close to Monicals. First they are thin crust but flimsy while Monicals crust is crisp throughout. But more importantly the New Haven Pizza is greasy (and probably not all that good for you) while Monicals Pizza is never greasy. They even have a heart healty pizza and special crusts for people with allergies. I'm not familiar with them but I can attest to their fresh salad being great. And they have their own house french dressing (regular or light) which is so good that they sell it in bottles to go if you want. If you get lucky enough to get one of their surveys, don't throw it away because they reward you with a free individual pleaser for giving your opinion.

Very expensive, weird pizza. The salad is generic, the ranch dressing is the gross tangy kind, and the entire place has a film of grease on it.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
