Just a quick review....8 oz ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare as i asked and seasoned nicely. Excellent potato salad and havent had a bad soup there yet. Portions are huge and service wonderful. This place brought back memories for my 90 year old grandma in the old Perkins days. Our waitress even worked there when it was Perkins. She told us she loves her job and even does the gardening out front of the restaurant. It shows when you love your job! Grandma and i had a very enjoyable lunch thanks to Keps!

Keps, our regular breakfast place, recently started serving dinner. We went tonight and I have to say the food was very good. Better than I expected. The décor is a little outdated and for some reason I expected the cooking to be too. But I was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast is always great...but breakfast is...breakfast. Hard to mess it up. The dinner menu is the same as the lunch with a couple of $7.99 specials. I chose the Chicken Caesar Wrap and a side salad (instead of the fries). The salad was romaine lettuce, a tomato wedge, a few slivers of onion and some grated carrots. The lettuce was very fresh and crisp and it was the perfect size. the wrap was stuffed with chunks of grilled chicken that was moist and tasty, a good amount of lettuce and a light Caesar dressing. The whole thing was warm and I ate every bite. No chewy or dry chicken here...very fresh! My dining partner chose the French dip and waffle fries. It came with soup (very good...didn't taste like a can) and the sandwich was big, the bread fresh and all very tasty as well. The waffle fries were enormous and seasoned with a zippy salt (seasoned salt maybe), fried crispy and there were so many of them, he couldn't eat them all. Our two meals and two sodas (free refills) came to just over $21. A word about the service...excellent servers who were very friendly and prompt, but not pushy. Which is my favorite kind of server. She came by once to make sure everything was ok, and delivered the check promptly with a smile and a thank you. I really hope this place catches on for dinner. It was very good, with reasonable prices and a friendly owner and staff. In the land of chain restaurants, this local place is worth going to again.

I will have to try this place again. I went once for breakfast and it as adequate I could tell my server was new. It just seemed like an average breakfast to me, served on a plate that was too big so it looked like I hardly had anything on it. I liked that it wasn't crowded!

I had breakfast here today. It was my first time there. The patrons were the friendliest I've come across. They doted over my children. That's pretty much the best thing I can say about this place. That's neither here nor there. The waitress, she couldn't/wouldn't make eye contact with me. When I asked her for things (after flagging her down) she would only address my Caucasian friend. When I asked for extra plates for my children, she brought it to my friend. When I asked for straws, she put them in front of my friend. Thought that was pretty weird and slightly racist. The food was just okay. I think we should've gone to Denny's or IHop and gotten fresher/better food and service for cheaper. If you do plan on coming here, come before 10 am to get the $3.99 special. I didn't know about the special and missed it by 5 minutes. Instead, I paid twice that for egg's benedict. Wasn't even good. The Hollandaise sauce looked questionable. The sheen had a weird pattern in them...but a pregnant girl's gotta eat. My friend said her biscuits and gravy were not seasoned and had no taste. At the end of our meal, I asked for a box and the waitress brought back a box full of dried coffee stains and soot. Um, next time check to make sure you're not giving out filthy boxes. Yikes. The guy at the front where you pay the bill was nice...but I'm sure anyone is nice when you're paying for that kind of lackluster service and food. Not ever coming back. I don't get all the 3 and 4 star ratings. C'mon people, you can't be serious? It makes me miss all the places up north that have real breakfast/brunch places with awesome food and service. I can't believe people around here really think this is a 4 star rated place to eat?!?!? And at $10+ for a breakfast and drink...yikes...go somewhere else!

One of our favorite breakfast spots in Bloomington! The owner Dan gets to know his customers and remembers you when you come back. The servers keep your coffee full and the smiles coming too.. it makes Bloomington feel like a smaller town. Now what to eat... decisions decisions... Get a skillet, any skillet (ok get the Polish Skillet with Swiss Cheese!)... and get it with egg whites. Cooked perfectly. And they come with pancakes or toast. But you know what's up... you ALWAYS pick pancakes. Love the French Toast too! The closest thing to my Dad's french toast that I've found. (My dad is a breakfast rockstar) When it comes to sausage I'm really picky... the sausage patties here are great, the sausage links are not my favorite. So opt for the ham or the bacon... ooh great bacon. Caution, you may be the youngest person here on weekday mornings but its cool, the service is awesome. Sundays tend to get a little crowded after church but nothing you can't handle. Patience is a virtue, remember? Overall, if you love breakfast and love it the way it was intended to be with traditional favorites and none of the crazy chain crap (and crowds) of the overly hyped and down the road Bob Evan's, then Kep's is the place for you.

I have to agree with Kelly M. the food has been somewhat inconsistent, but it's been decent each time. The first time I had the biscuits and gravy and the gravy was pretty runny. It tasted good, but was very watery. Not as good as Garden of Paradise, but decent. Girlfriend ordered them the second time and the gravy was a lot less runny, but not as tasty. The second time I had the Idaho Benedict, potato pancakes covered with gravy and a poached egg. The potato pancakes were delicious. The gravy was less runny and the eggs were cooked well. Wish it came with a side other than hash browns (yes i realize Idaho is in the name) but I could do with some protein instead. Staff has been decent, last time the guy was a little overly pushy on the coffee refills for the girlfriend. She reports the coffee was just okay. I wouldn't know as I don't drink the stuff (guessing I lost about half of you at this point. "How can I trust his review if he doesn't drink coffee?" I've got no answers for you, caffeine and I just aren't friends). You will get your money's worth on the coffee, that's for sure. Prices are pretty reasonable and they have newspapers sitting around so you don't have to engage in conversation with your guest, but silently read and pretend they don't exist. It does have a bit of a small town feel to it, despite be a stones throw away from Veteran's.

Typically a decent place to have breakfast. Went in on the 4th and apparently they were short cooks in the kitchen. Order took almost 40 minute and we asked the waitress she has to loudly explain how busy they were. Not very impressive!

I'm not sure why I can't find a decent breakfast spot in B-N, but after 3 years of searching I have given up. Kep's was just another disappointment on a long list of them, so save your time and money and don't eat here.

You can never go wrong with Keps. The owners are great and usually there overseeing everything. The food is great, especially breakfast! They are quick but don't mind if you linger over a cup of coffee. The atmosphere is very casual and prices are low.

Used to love it, but had 3 bad experiences and never went back...new owner from when it was Uncle Tom's...service is mediocre at best. Food is inconsistent...staff are semi-friendly....just "meh" in general

Opened at the end of 2006 in the old Perkins place. Staff is super-friendly and clientele give it a local feel. Looks exactly like Uncle Tom's - decor and menu. Huge portions - omelettes are $5-8, but they come with hashbrowns and pancakes or toast, so you get your money's worth. Extensive lunch and dinner options, but my partner and I have only had their breakfast stuff. Gyro omelette with gyro meat, feta cheese and spinach is heavenly. However, both the omelettes we ordered (mine ham with egg beaters) were soaked with, dripping of, and sitting in butter to the extent that it overpowered any other taste whatsoever. Unfortunately, if you're not used to rich, buttery foods (like I am not), the buttery omelettes will give you stomach trouble (yes, gurgling by the time you walk out). I would love to go back to the place, but the butter was enough to keep me away - calories for the whole week in one sitting (egg beaters or not), and digestive movement for the week in another sitting! yikes...

Since my last review the coffee seems a bit watered down. The food is getting more average, but still an OK place for breakfast.

We've been here 3 times now, i have to say this place is the best Kep (hahahaha) secret i town! Tonight i had the stuffed french toast with strawberries and banana's. It was so good! Cooked perfect (not mushy in the center like some with texas toast), sausage links (light spice but flavorful) and the hubby had the kep's shoe (a horse shoe the size of texas!) Idk what others are talking about Inconsistent food, but every time we have had great home cooking and amazing service! I left a $10 tip tonight on our $24 bill. Good wait staff is hard to find, amazing ones are rare. Close your eyes and transport back to the 60's because this diner has it all!

Great Gyros skillet. Pass thru town every three weeks, keeps me coming back. The value for the meal is excellent, more food for your money, definately fair portion size and good quality.

This seemed like it would be a good breakfast spot. However, they were very understaffed. I think there were only two people working. It took 45 minutes to have our order taken and brought to us. Portions were very small and the food wasn't that great. I am not interested in going back.

Had breakfast there last week. The food was ok, but not great. The staff was not very attentive.

Don't go here! Table behind us got cold food, the table next to us got cold food, and we got cold food. Their fix was to tell us that it just came out instead of saying they will fix it right away and they just put it in the microwave. First time going and I will never go again!
