Went back for my hot dog fix. Harped on me again for getting ketchup. The first time it was cute. This time it was annoying. This is Bloomington, IL. Not Chicago.

Just found out about this place a few days ago and can't stop enjoying it.

Place is great. Has a real Chicago hot dog joint feel. But better yet, they have real Chicago style food. Everything I've had so far on the menu has been fantastic. The dogs and Italian Beef being my favorites. The Italian Beef probably the best in town. Yet to try the appetizers , but sound delicious. Ton of fries and a drink for a solid price. Hot dogs big, polish and sausage is a homemade recipe from local meat shop. Everything is fresh. Highly recommended for your fix.

I ordered a cheeseburger with tomato, onion (raw) and lettuce. It was way better than 5 Guys any day. The meat was juicy and not dried out and it had flavor. Also the bun was fantastic. It was perfect for holding up to that much beef. I am not a big fan of hot dogs, but I would definitely recommend the burger and their delicious hand cut fries. Finally a good burger in Bloomington!!!

Favorite dawg place in town; I actually prefer their dawgs over Portillos which is hard for me to admit to. I have only ordered the dogs but other items I have seen looked good to. I highly recommend for a taste of Chicago.

Great dogs. Other items are good too. They have reopened with new owners and is much better. Try it out, beat dogs in town.

One year ago this was a 5 star place but now is not a place I will recommend. Stopped in for lunch today, it was slow (not a good sign on a nice day). Order my standard $6 two Chicago Dogs, a fry and a drink to go. The Chicago Dogs were grayed and not fresh at all. Come to think of it I wasn't asked if I wanted them grilled, boiled or fried this time! I'll bet they were sitting there cooked for a long time and they just didn't taste like fresh Vienna...shame. The fries were so soggy I tied a knot with one of them....no joke. I really thought that after the relaunch this place would get back to its glory but for now I think they are destined to fail if they continue down this path. They lost me as a regular and at this time a year ago I was a weekly customer. I'll have to hear from someone else that they changed before I go back again.

Big Daddy's Dawgs is a great place to try for lunch or dinner. I have tried a few different hot dawgs and the 1/2 pound hamburger. All of which were great. My favorite hot dog and what I usually order is the "Big Daddy Dawg", which is wrapped with bacon, fried, and covered with jalepeno cheese. It is very delicious and I recommend that you try it. The service and staff are nice and attentive. I have had many great conversations with the staff as I waited in line. As others have mentioned they are not stingy with the amount of fries they give you. Usually you have dig through an entire bag of fries just to find your hot dog. Everything is very reasonably priced. My usual meal is around $6 and they will substitute fries for any other sides on their menu for only a $0.50 upcharge. The next thing I'll try is the Philly Cheese Steak and Italion Beef because I have heard a lot of positive recommendations about those 2 sandwiches.

I came with friends during lunch and I must say I was not disappointed. I had the cheese steak and man was it good! The portion was good and plenty and the amount of fries you get was crazy! They have daily lunch specials and plenty to choose from. I've had the hot dog's as well and I say that because you get two and one is enough for me becasue they are filling. The staff is friendly and helpful and patient when you are deciding what to have. The place is clean is that is a plus.

Great food at reasonable prices. I've ordered from all corners of the menu and everything is very good. I love the hand cut fries and I normally skip fries elsewhere. They feature a "special of the day" on the board behind the register. It's usually a good bet if you can't pick something. I think it's the two dogs, fries, and drink typically.

SUPER fries! Fresh cut, double fried, dark and crispy. Burger was pretty good too. It's 1/2 lb and waaay too much food for me with the nice portion of Fries. I don't eat hog dogs but my friend says they are good. BEWARE arriving around lunch hour during the week. It can get crazy busy in there and you will have a wait. Now, here is the routine: 1. Select your items from the big blackboard menu. 2. Place your orders at the register. You may have a line all the way back to the door. Pay attention to the number they tell you. 3. Sit down and wait for your number to be called. 4. Pick your food up at the counter. It all comes in a paper sack. Also I don't think there are free refills on drinks or you have to ask.

Big daddy dawgs has creepy crawlers. Went there for the first time got the chicago dog with cheese fries...my mate got the chicago wiener with Cajun fries. We picked a spot to sit and realized that spot was already occupied by lots of ants! Told the guy and he was not surprised and grab a spray bottle and a dish rag! Might want to get that problem fixed. Grab a high top table so the ants do not invade. Food was good. Tasted like the other chicago dog places in Bloomington Normal.

I love this place. Their hot dogs, chili, Italian beefs are great and their fries are the best. Close to the food I'd get if I were back in Chicago.

This is better than your typical dog place. Somehow, Big Daddy's Dawgs serves a Chicago style dog that seems fresh. I don't know if it is the crunch of the peppers or the gourmet bun, but this place nails the freshness factor. The Cajun fries are spicy and they give you a lot. My office ordered the 10 dogs and fries for everyone for $30 and we'll do it again.

Big Daddy's Dawgs is open for business! YEAH! Same great dawgs - same location. They have a new phone number 309-808-0342.

Anyone that says this place is authentic Chicago style, hasn't had any real Chicago-style food recently enough, because this place has a WAYS to go and I am among those who believe that the place seems to be getting worse the last few months in particular. Since the last of the BooBoo's Dawghouse locations closed, its truly been slim pickings in these parts trying to get authentic Portillo's-like food. This place and Windy City do a decent Chicago-style hotdog, WCW even does a nice char dog/cheddar char dog, but even the chili falls short at either place to make a proper chili dog. You can try adding the place that replaced BooBoo's on the east side (Joe's Pub or Station House), but I seriously doubt ANY of them use true Vienna beef hotdogs, their polish ( Maxwell St) and Italian sausage are not authentic and their buns/bread are cheap facsimilies. I do like Big Daddy's handcut fries (cajun or regular) and they have some unusual hotdog options, but frankly if their other food was good, they wouldn't have to give you so many fries in an attempt to mask their other issues. In the last two months we've called in one order for pick-up and twice wandered in trying to find something unique on their menu that I can count on. I've given them the benfit of the doubt because I've really wanted them to be good, but with this review I am finally throwing in the towel. They forgot the sausage on the combinations (beef & sausage) we called in to pick up, the beef I ate recently was the blandest beef I've had in a long time and the last time I was there, they messed up the simplest of requests for a two cheese dog meal (dog barely was charred and no cheese was present??!!). Since I was somewhat vocal 2 out of those 3 times, you would think SOMEBODY would care and offer to rectify/compensate, but with the food quality I've experienced of late, its probably for the best that we just cut ties and wait for my next trip north. I cannot in good conscious recommend this place to anyone wanting more than a 'Chicago hot dog and some fries'....and even that will fill you up, but still leave you wanting.

Chicago dog is amazing! They are open on Sunday. Great food, great price. Two Chicago dogs and a ton of fries with two drinks for 7 bucks.

I've been here 5 times, twice while under the recent management change. While none of my experiences have been great, the most recent was dissappointing due to stale bread, and undercooked ingredients. On the plus side, they have fresh cut fries which are becoming harder and harder to find these days. Bring your own ketchup if you don't like the generic brand stuff.

The Italian beef is great. I am not a huge fan of their fries either as others have stated before me. I only ever go there to get the italian beef with fries and a drink. On Thursdays is their special for it, so remember that. :D

Pretty disappointed to be honest. I have tried several great true Chicago style dog places like Gene and Judes, Portillos, and Super Dog. I didn't expect the food to be as good as the some classic Chicago joints but i still expected something much more. I ordered 3 chicago style dogs grilled, small cajun fries, small regular fries, and cheese cup. Pros: I like how they give you an option on how you want your hot dogs cooked (grilled, fried, boiled). Fair prices and good daily specials. good amount of toppings on hot dog and seemed fresh Cons: Extremely stale bun (most places will steam the bun). Fresh cut fries were nearly un-edible; very dried out and not much flavor (seriously have never had fresh cut fries that dissapointed me; usually you can't really mess up a fresh cut fry). The hot dog itself was definitely not vienna beef and some cheaper brand (tasted no better than a Ball Park Frank from the store)

Excellent value with some of the friendliest service in town! I had the Chicago dog not even know what it was. It's a hotdog with mustard onions, tomatoes and some other random vegetables. Either way it was awesome. The hot dog, fries, and a coke were only $5. I'll definitely be back to try some of their more adventurous offerings like bacon wrapped dogs, etc.

Big Daddys Dawgs will be reopening!! This will now be 100% family owned and operated. We are sorry if you had a negative experience in the past, as the owners were different and obviously had a different style of running the place. The opening date is not set in stone, as there is tons that has to be done to get it back in operational status. I will keep you updated on the opening of the store and invite you to come back then for another try! See you all soon!

Now that Boo Boos have closed this is the alternative for dogs and beef combo sandwiches and it pales in comparison. The hotdogs are not Vienna Beef the chili is like a paste from a can one good thing on the menu are the Cajun fries pretty tasty. Won't be coming back unless I am really desperate for a hotdog. Wish Portillos would setup shop in BloNo

If I could give no stars I would. Heard wonderful things about your hand cut fries. Just ordered from now they deliver and while it was delivered earlier than expected the fries were not edible. Old, over cooked and cold. I guess because Im not in store I cant return them and ask for a refund, funny how that worked.

Tried the Big Daddy Dawg which is a deep fried hotdog wrapped in bacon and smothered in jalipeno cheese. Love it! I will be back to try a few more items on the menu and provide further suggestions just in case you don't want to try the heart attack on a bun that I just ate.

It doesn't feel right giving a hot dog joint 5 stars but if they are the best at what they do then why not. Lots of menu options and the food is great. My kids love it and their fries are out of this world. Go once and you will keep going back.

This place has, by far, the best Chicago dawgs in town, and the italian beef is also amazing! Yes, they have hand-cut fries, but I'm not as big a fan as others. I find them to be too skinny and tough. Then again, I'm not a huge fry person. Their mozz sticks are wonderful. The (new-ish) owners are quite friendly. I wish they would get the website back up and running. My only advice is, if you are getting a bulk order or platters, get exactly what is included and the price in writing - don't order over the phone unless you record it. ;) We ordered italian beef for 8, and I was told that it would include cheese, but when I went to pick it up, they said it would be extra. The gentleman who works there, Miguel, isn't perfectly fluent in english, which might be the problem, but I specifically remember us talking about the cheese. So, eh, in the end it's annoying, but not a huge deal. I will continue to go there for the delicious food...I might just get my bigger orders from Rosati's next time. :)

Really heading downhill FAST... Had my 3rd wrong order in a row on my carry-out yesterday... I have gone here once a week for over a year. A chilidog w/cheese and onion should probably come with the cheese and onion! Cajun fries should get the spices added to the bag. Also, why did u switch to the bad, meely canned chili? I'm done

Was traveling through and read the reviews on this place and it was everything I expected plus some! Great food and daily specials. Must get the fries, they were super fresh and perfectly cooked.

Best Chicago style hot dog in Bloomington. Back since it changed owners and it was really good. Not much changed other than now using baskets instead of paper bags. Much better. Hot Dog was the best that I have had in this area. Going back to try other items. Update this place is no longer in business. Now open again. Back again with new new owners, not so good. Won't be going back.

Nothing fancy - but for a mostly hot dog menu, Big Daddy's Dawgs is good! They have a couple other items too ( burgers and a couple other sandwiches). I've tried several dogs, the cheese steak, and hamburgers - and was very happy with them all. Their fires are good and they give you a ton! (enough to feed a group - lol)

Great place to grab a quick lunch. Chicago dogs are pretty good, but I wish they used all-beef kosher dogs for a bit more flavor and better texture. The buns were nice and soft and the toppings were perfect. The fries were a highlight. Fresh cut and perfectly crispy. Plus they take amex.

Claims to be Chicago-style. So what is the verdict? WannaBe or RealDeal? My Vote: RealDeal Why: homemade fries, chicago recipe for the polish, owner is from the north side, the chicago style dog was the most authentic i've had in town. For my first tasting: To get a true north sider experience I ate my lunch in my car out of a bag and let the memories and greasiness flow. Maxwell Street Polish was full of flavor, you could tell this was a homemade fresh polish sausage... not some shipped in frozen crap. Kudos to the owner.. rumor has it you somehow convinced Chenoa meats to make your grandpa's recipe. Rock on, that is a true chicagoan attitude. Mustard was right on and the onions were abundant and cooked just right. The French Fries! Thank you thank you thank you for making your fries fresh! with skins! and seasoning! served in a cup its as if you "knew" I'd be eating them in my car... or at least that many chicagoans do. And thanks for serving Pepsi products. Overall a very good first experience. My second tasting: Yep I went two days in a row and I'm sure my arteries are thanking me for it. Had to try the dog... and it was perfect. The dog itself was full of flavor cooked just right and the right thickness. Mustard, neon relish, perfectly sized pickle, perfect little sport peppers, tomatoes... look you know what's supposed to be on a dog and it was all there. Next time I get a hankering, I know were I'm going. One recommendation... the bun for the polish was a little too big... it would go better on a poppy. Just my two cents.

I stopped in here one saturday for a good Italian beef sandwich. When I went in the lady greeted me,and I saw they had a 2 dawg special with fries & drink for 6 bucks.I got that & it was very good.It was real nice to see the owner there mingling with the customers & cooking with the other employees. One menu item I saw that i would like to try is the Fried bologna sandwich. Its not something you see on any menu at all and I ate this all the time when i was a kid.I'm glad we have a place like this in Blono.

Incredible veggie dog! Delicious grilled and chicago style! And the Friday 2 dog special made a meal for two at $7 and change! Cheaper than one person at some of the lunch buffets in town and plenty of fries.

I was thrilled by my visit to Big Daddy's Dawgs. The menu is extremely diverse, offering several different versions of the dog alone (including Jamaican Dog, which will definitely be my choice on my next visit), and all at extremely competitive prices. I, quite the culinary daredevil from time to time, got the Big Daddy's Dawg, which is a dog wrapped in bacon, deep-fried, and covered in jalapeno cheese--decadent, ridiculous, and delicious in a trenchcoat-and-sunglasses guilty pleasure kind of way. Either way, it was one of the most "expensive" combos on the menu at $7.08--and it came with a metric ton of fries (overflowing from the 16-oz cup they came in) and a soda. The food was made-to-order, even the homemade fries (skins and all), and the whole store rang of a Chicago Dog type of authenticity. Absolutely fantastic fast food--I'm glad I chose this over their parking lot rival, Meat Head (who is good in their own right, but still a corporate franchise). Here's to this restaurant's longevity--it certainly deserves a fair run.
