Zacatacos Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Zacatacos is no frills, but it doesn't skimp on quality. I've driven by here a bunch of times over the years and I finally got the chance to try it when I just wasn't in the mood to cook my own dinner. We ordered at the register, then sat down. We shared the largest size of the horchata, which is actually 32 oz. This thing was huge and it had just the taste of horchata that I love. They claim to use natural ingredients in the menu, which I can believe by the great taste. There are a bunch of different horchata sizes already poured into the cups in the refrigerator, so my guess is this is a very popular item to be ordered from Zacatacos (and with good reason). I got the burrito al pastor, which was huge (believe me, I finished it); I really got my money's worth. We also shared a huge serving of guac with chips, which was a deal for only $4. That's probably the most guac for the best price I've ever seen. For example, it costs maybe twice as much for half the amount of guac at Big Star. Clearly there's no need for that nonsense when I can get guac that's twice as good at a local place like Zacatacos. Make no mistake. This five stars is way different than a five stars I may give to outstanding places like BOKA. It's five stars for being the best at what it is: a cheap, hole-in-the-wall Mexican place in the suburbs.

They used to be good.. Now they dont have gorditas, chicharron, chorizo...the tacos are almost $3 with tax overpriced! Want better zacatacos..go to the one on Pulaski and 59th in Chicago. Or even better tacos "La Internacional" a.k.a original Pacos tacos... I'm done with this Zacatacos.

I ordered 4 steak tacos with lettuce and cilantro on the side as well as some limes. The best part? Probably the lettuce! The meat was dry, the limes were sour, and the tortillas were not heated well. I love Zacatacos but lately, the quality is very inconsistent! Makes me not want to go back ever. How upsetting!

Good customer service. I have had so many people tell me the tacos are delicious here - those people obviously have never had good Mexican good. YUCK !!!! Chicken and steak had no flavor. The tortillas were tasty.

Tacos are over rated and take out service is unsatisfactory. Average wait time for 2 tacos is 20 minutes. They also seem to cater to "American" customers while the rest of us wait.

Spoke too soon! I was here earlier and posted a message as I checked in stating the great service they provide here. When I arrived, I told the cashier I was picking up my order and told her my name. At that point, she said there was no order placed in such name then asked what my order was. I repeated my order & another clerk looked at me & said "oh we didnt make the order because we are out of rice. I forgot to tell you over the phone. Sorry." As if that would make it alright. Being myself, I took it as a minor slip up & brushed it off. I placed a new order & was out of there in less than ten minutes. Clerks, next time please check whats available before taking orders. Thanks

Look no further!! One of the best authentic steak tacos are at zaca tacos! They do not cheapen out on the meat either. Service is quick and friendly. The space is pretty small so seating is limited if you plan to eat in.

The steak tacos are still good but.... This place use to be the spot. But the menu gets shorter every time and the overwhelming amount of signs and instructions make it very undelightful to come here. It feels like you must follow rules to get some food. Also I asked for a steak burrito with only meat and cheese and kept finding traces of onions and cilantro. Clearly the preparer messed up the order and just took it off. It has gone down down down.

What the F@*#! Is going on some of the best items are being pulled from the menu, no chorizo, sopes, torta de milanesa, enchiladas? And now if your dinning in you have to order your food at the counter and sit, no more waitresses? Are you kidding me... What is wrong with this place if you have a good thing why change it... time to find another place so unfortunate....

    (1)
  • Go R.

What happened? Would you like to dine in? Well... You have stand around and decide quickly while other people are trying to do the same because you can't have a seat until you've ordered and paid for your meal. Bad enough the place is small but are you serious? Another thing, they eliminated a ton of items off the menu. The beginning of the end for this joint.

I will not come back to this location....they don't season there meat and they use America cheese in there chili rellano. I was very disappointed

For those of you complaining about Zacatacos overcharging or being pricey, go get a second job. I walk out of this place full and saisfied every time I come here and you get a great deal of grub for the average $8-12 one might spend here. They have free and tasty tortilla chips always served with awesome salsa/hot sauces and the service, while not perfect, is usually accommodating, quick and has never messed up my order. I went here yesterday with an amigo (I'm wicked cultured) and dined in for a late lunch/early dinner. I ordered the quesadillas with the al pastor (which is the home run meat from this place IMO) and a side or rice/beans. They have a wonderful spanish rice and their beans are typical but well seasoned (definitely not overly salty). The quesadillas were a bit greasy but no complaints here, as the flavor and texture were on point. This place is super consistent, reasonably priced, and delicious. Try anything (including the tongue/lengua) and you should be good here. I recommend the enchiladas verde/rojo (both are fantastic) the al pastor tacos or the steak burrito. PRO TIP- Large horchata is 32 freaking oz. My god.....

Fact: a restaurant is flipping amazing when you see a cop car, or a long a$$ line of hungry people waiting for service. Even if the place looks like a hole in the wall. So the bf works with a few Mexicans who sometimes bring lunch from Zacatacos. Apparently he has complimented them on their choice of food and how good it smells (hoping to get some!), but he has never scored any food off them. So he decided to bring me on a Saturday night. Well, lemme tell you. OH. EM. GEE. In regards to their al pastor: They actually put pieces of pineapple in their al pastor tacos, JUST like they do in Mexico!! The meat is perfectly prepared, and you can actually see the meat on the turning stick from the side window. It's like food porn! Unfortunately, I forgot to take pics of the tacos before scarfing them down! Note: their lengua tacos are good, but they are a bit stingy with the lengua meat. Go for the pastor!!

Good food, bad customer service....especially when placing an order over the phone. Something is always wrong - every. single. time.

I have been a fan of the Zacatacos franchise for years. I was pleasantly surprised with their efficient carry out service. I stopped in around 8:30 pm on a Tuesday night. I ordered 3 steak tacos, 1 chicken taco, & 1 bean and cheese gordita. I waited about 10 minutes for my order. I checked my order before walking out and nothing was missing. The steak tacos were the best I have had in a while. A consists of a double tortilla, diced pieces of skirt steak, onions, & cilantro. Limes, green salsa, and red salsa are served on the side. I like making two tacos from the double tortillas. I will warn you that if you wait too long to take the tortillas apart, the tortillas will stick together and tear. Nevertheless, the steak was nicely charred. Definitely try adding lime juice to the tacos. The lime juice, charred steak, onions, & cilantro make a fresh tasting taco. If you are not apprehensive about heat, add the green salsa.

Food was great, but service was what cost me to give them low stars. If you are dining inn, waitress makes you get up to order your food, really! Then if you want extra drink, you have to get up and wait inn line just to order a drink. Food is good but wont be dining inn or tipping waitress when we have to do there work.

I never knew there was a zaca taco that was closer to me. Thank the yelp gods for helping me discover this slice of south of the border heaven. They have the best nachos ever. Steak or chicken. Love the authentic tacos and tostadas . Will be back with friends.

Bad service, small place, the place is dirty, and the people have attitude. I'd rather go to the one on 83rd.

Tried 3 different kind of meat taco's,all the meat was very dry and cold tasting, chorizo, beef toungue, and the steak....wont go back to this location again.

I absolutely love reading reviews on places that I adore. I love seeing the different experiences that others have gone through, especially when they are so different from my own. I have been going to Zacatacos at this location for years. It may seem a bit sketchy from the outside and maybe even the inside, as the decor isn't the most delightful and the upkeep doesn't always seem the best. However, there is a reason that the parking lot is almost always PACKED. There is street parking and a small side parking lot next to the gas station, but it is only on a rare occasion when one can park close because this place is so great! The portions are quite large for the low prices (last night we fed a family of five adults for $30...WHAT?!). Additionally, the food is FRESH. For instance, I always get the chicken taco salad because I like all my ingredients thrown together so I can mush 'em around a bit. If you order for pick-up, they won't even start making the taco salads until you get there to ensure that everything is fresh and the shells are crispy. SUPERB. Their guacamole is delicious and their pico de gallo? Get out of here. It has such a delightful sting of spice and heat that if you ate a whole dish of just that your taste buds would be screaming, yet begging for more. I also have never had an issue with the employees here. They have always been kind and quick to serve. They are extremely busy, especially during the evening hours, so they may not engage in chit chat, but they have always provided me and my family with great service. Cheers to you, Zacatacos...you continuously fill my days with sunshine.

Horrible experience trying to order over the phone to pick up an order, tried like four times then was put on hold waited fifteen minutes, placed my order but it was not confirmed she hing up on me, called back and waited again, then she tells me there is no order on my name, so i gave up, horrible service!!!!

Hands-down my favorite local taco place. It's always crowded in here and for good reason! Taco portions are huge, you get your money's worth here. The guacamole is also amazing.

Best Take Out lunch spot!! Quick, perfect, and a great deal!! Tacos are overflowing with ingredients! Steak is my fav! We go here at least once a week!

My FAVORITE tacos in all Chicago! Tacos de pollo and tacos de patata are my favorite. The salsa roja is daaaaaamn hot! I go to both locations on Pulaski.

I have never been too fond of Zacatacos (just have a different way i like my meat cut/cooked), but my husband is and therefore we have ordered from them many of times. We called to place our order about three months ago and from the beginning I received a horrible unwarranted attitude from the young lady at the other end. I will not say more, but we will never order from this location ever again. I am giving them two stars only because the Cicero location has always provided great service and their chilaquiles are great. This is just my experience though, you may have a better/different one.

    (2)
  • Mike M.

We started going to Zacatacos after noticing that there was always a line out the door. We figured if figured if everyone else liked it so much it had to be good. And we were right. We probably pick up dinner from Zacatocs once a week. Their Guacamole is fantastic. The steak tacos are great, and I also love enchiladas. My usually gets the floutas and would highly recommend those as well. There is usually a line if you are ordering for carryout, but you can also phone in your order.

The tostadas at this restaurant are very good. Had an avocado Tostada. I had the Pozole, which looked like they took beef and hominy, and dumped it in a Menudo Soup. Not very good.

  • Misty C.

Cheap prices, Chicken breast tacos! Asaga was great too! Small but cozy restaurant. Service was very fast! Only disappointment was the horchata....Was very runny. The consistency just seemed off. Besides that, Very satisfied! Will definitely return, maybe even tomorrow for breakfast!

  • Melanie N.

Prices are high but food is descent. My issue is that I observed two waitresses sweeping, mopping, and then serving food without washing their hands. Health code violation!

  • Ingris P.

A small place but don't let that stop you. .. If there are no seats you can have that to go and it will taste just as delicious. Their "gorditas" are gorditas (ha!) And their steak tacos are a definite must try. It is vegetarian friendly with quesadillas and rice and beans.

    (5)
  • Brian C.

I give it 2 stars only because the food is great. The cooks do a great job but the service is less than mediocre so I rarely dine in. The take out service is pretty fast but completely awful at the same time. If you do take-out ALWAYS GO THROUGH YOUR BAGS BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!! Especially if the younger girl with braces is filling your order. She has a crappy attitude and always forgets something. I would frequent this place much more if it weren't for that employee. I really like the food but the front of house staff needs to improve a LOT!

    (2)
  • Luis A.

It's great to see a place that through the years continues to serve quality food, but the prices are getting too high. As a person who works in the field I know a few good spots to go for lunch (tortas, tacos, etc) and these people are over charging. I generally agree that you get what you pay for, but this is not a nice spacious place where service is always great, or where they have a reasonable parking lot. Zacatacos Berwyn Loc owner, if your grocery prices are rising, don't forget your customers are going through the same.

One of my favorite taquerias.Their steak tacos are delicious!!! It has this very distinct taste thats different from most other taco places.I usually get one taco de carne asada and a gordita de rajas con queso.PERFECTION!!! I put the red salsa on the taco and the green salsa on the gordita.Got it down packed!! Every once in a while I switch to something else but always go back to my regular order.Im a happy customer and have been for years. My favorite of the chain is the one on Pulaski and 59th (I think its 59th.Take or add a block or two!!!)

My favorite zacatacos location is in Burbank, IL. It's located on Harlem avenue. They seem to be the best representation of what Zacatacos is all about. This location however, seems to not value customer service. Perhaps they are just overwhelmed with the high demand for such a small facility. One time I ordered my food to go and I asked the guy that took my order to please be sure that they put two green sauces in the bag. He immediately told me that I had to pay extra in an offensive manner. I then explained that I am a regular customer at other locations and that they never charged me for sauce. He then calmed down but was still a little angry. He then assured me that the extra green sauce would be in the bag when I got it. When My number was called, I took my bag and asked him if he put the requested green sauce in the bag. He said that he did and not to worry about it. I thanked him despite his rude demeanor. When I got to the car, my wife told me to check the bag. We looked in the bag and there was only one green sauce. He lied about green sauce. What does that tell you? I never come here anymore...

So there was this Tribune article about the best 30 sandwiches in the Chicago area...that article is how me and the hubs ended up in Berwyn. (besides, the trip promised a stop at Gina's Italian Ice later on). We were excited to try the Steak Milaneza Torta. Breaded steak, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, beans served sandwich style in soft Mexican Bolilo bread. It was delicious--fresh ingredients, tender steak, great flavors that went so well together. My only "beef" was that I wished there was a little more steak. That's just the carnivore in me talking. The hubs and I shared the torta and some al pastor tacos. I didn't find the al pastor very flavorful on its own, but it tasted much better with some green chile salsa added to it. I like how there are bottles of the green and red salsa already at each table. Food alone would get the place 3.5 stars, but I bump it up to 4 because our server was excellent. From the outside, it looks like a fast food taco joint. But inside, if you choose to dine in, a server will help you find a seat and take your order and bring your food out to you at your table. This location is cramped. Preggos take care of your baby bump, cuz there ain't much room here. But our server was so kind to help us adjust tables and tell the space hog next to us to scoot a little so we could be seated comfortably. She also checked on us quite often and was as kind as can be--she was very sweet. Tasty ice cold Horchata and reasonable (cheap!) prices.

    1. Food: Authentic tacos for $2.25. I've tried the carne asada (steak), chicken, lengua (tongue), and al pastor (pork), and I can attest that they're all delicious! They also have fresh guacamole and tasty horchata (a cinnamon rice drink that tastes like you're drinking a churro!) 2. Service: Service is so-so. I once tried phoning in an order and the person didn't really understand English so that was frustrating. 3. Atmosphere: Think hole in the wall taco joint. FYI: Parking here sucks so watch out!

I LOVE this place. They make my favorite breakfast to perfection. Chilaquilies with eggs and steak. Yum, Yum, Yum. They also have a pretty awesome Lengua taco. Clean and Reasonably priced. Fyi, its a really small area to eat in, so think carry out. Also, the Cermak location does not compare, stick with this one!

The food here is always great. I love their tacos. The only bummer is they do not deliver. If they did, we would probably order from them on a more regular basis.

Got excited when I walked in and saw 2 ladies working on chilies! Ordered a steak burrito. For $5.50, got a dried tortilla, hardly any meat...very small. It fell apart while I was eating it. The hot sauce was very good though. Would have been better if some didn't wind up on my lap. Make sure to bring along some dental floss or a toothpick.....you'll need it for that quality 'meat'.

I've driven by this Zacatacos location plenty of times, and have always heard good things about the chain in general. It was time to decide for myself if I could welcome Zacatacos into my world of unhealthy Mexican eats. I don't know what the other Zacatacos locations are like, but I can tell you there's nothing at all glamorous about this rickety little shack of a place. They do have waitress service but it's smaller inside than your average McDonalds. So weave past that line of people placing take out orders if you plan on dining in. Zacatacos makes some pretty mean steak. You can see them cooking it behind the counter. Piles of arracherra style skirt steak piled next to the grill. However it lacks in flavor just a little compared to my personal favorite places like Las Asadas and De Pasada. But my burrito was still better than average. Rice and beans were pretty tasty as well. What I didn't enjoy so much were the stale ass chips they start you off with. Sure they're free, but is it too much to ask to not serve rubbery tortilla chips? I'm also not a big fan of the salsas. It seemed as though they use way too much oregeno. Not enough kick either. Pretty decent sport. Not something I'd come out of my way for but since I pass it up and down Harlem a lot, it's very possible I'll stop back in here sometime.

When I want an excellent carne asada torta or a few solid tacos, there is no competition - Zacatacos is the best in the west! Tasty horchata, kickin salsa verde and fresh avocados....can't beat it!

  • Jessica S.

If the service here wasn't so awful I would give this place four stars. The food is very good, and very reasonable. You can get a huge meal for two for about ten dollars. However, the service is so bad! I tried to call for a pick up order and was left on hold for almost five minutes. So I hung up and called back. I placed my order and was told ten minutes. When I arrived to pick up my food I was very rudely told that no one had made my order and it wasn't their fault!! I explained I called and the incredibly rude girl insisted I had called another location and asked me to recite the phone number. Right, because I memorized it. She didn't even apologize. I will never return to this location, and still cannot believe how rude the girl behind the counter was.

    (1)
  • Kristen O.

The food here is good.....when they get the order right. About 1/2 the time, orders placed over the phone are wrong. Then they argue that it was your mistake and refuse to fix it or refund you. I have ordered from here for the last time. Customer service is more important than quality of food. They should NOT argue with their customers. Hopefully the Cermak location understands this, as this location has permanently lost my business.

Had the Milanese Torta from the "30 Sandwiches in 30 Days" list in the Trib. It is not on the menu. It was wonderful!!! Bread was fresh, meat was flavorful, green sauce was outstanding. Thumbs up!

Nastiest chicken tacos... My son and I ate there and we ordered 6 tacos, I had 2 steak 1 chicken and he had 2 chicken and 1 steak.. We mutually agreed that something was wrong with the chicken because it tasted foul. We both left all the chicken tacos on our plate they tasted so awful.. I remember I used to rave about Zacatacos for there tacos, pozole and flautas but I'm sorry I've had nothing but disappoints the last couple times that Zacatacos is no longer an option on my list of decent meals around my neighborhood and the inconsistency is to blame...

Best Veggie Tacos, guacamole, chile relleno and orchata is very tasty. Even do the restaurant is very small the service you get from the waitress is A+ friendly. Food comes out really quick too.

    (4)
  • Maria G.

Their steak is cooked "al carbon" so you get that delicious grill flavor! These tacos are huge and will definitely satisfy your taco needs. I also recommend the taco de Lengua for you adventurous folks and the al pastor for you less adventurous folks. Parking sux but whatevs.

apparently this place is a chain as it has several locations. this one, at least, has seats and is not filled with grill smoke. we took the family here on a friday night as i was really in the mood for some mexican food and we wanted to try a different place. we ordered: gorditas chicarrones -- wow, didn't know they make gorditas with pork rind!! yum. the pork rind was soft not the crispety crunchy kind. but delish nonetheless. chimichanga with steak -- so glad not everyone feels the need to flank a perfectly fried chimichanga with a heap of cheese to soften it up. this is sans cheese on top and the chimichanga was crispy greasy like i like. taco al pastor--tasty meat!! (why thank you.) carne asada--it came all diced up. not sure why. but it was fine. the horchata was a little watered down, and that might be because it was already in a cup ready to dole out from the refrigerator case. i'm assuming they had thrown ice in the cup too and that it had melted. they also offered "jamaica" drink. we had that for the first time in acapulco. nice that they offered it, not many mexican joints do. not bad, good place for cheap mexican.

The steak tacos are good but the woman who takes your take out order is very rude. She never smiles and I always feel like I'm bothering her at work. Maybe she should smile once in a while. Paying customers should be her #1 priority.

  • Megan H.

The lady at the front was so rude I was so close to ask for her manager but I was in a hurry!! DO NOT GO TO THIS ONE! Go to the one on Cermak, at least they will treat you with RESPECT!!!

  • Amanda D.

I am being generous with 4 stars because the wait staff is really nice. If it wasn't for the nice ladies, this place would receive 3 stars. This place is great for take out because the sitting space is quite small, not alot of room for plates on the table or for spacious room for your chair if the place is packed. The food is good like always so no worries. Money: there is a $10 minimum for card transactions, fyi.

Exactly how steak tacos should be. If you are ordering anything other than the steak tacos, you are WASTING YOUR TIME.

I like zaca tacos and I frequent this location. It is small, if you have a large party you may want to hit up a different location. The service is good and at the take-out counter the girl is friendly.

  • Selina K.

The food is good but the service was terrible and they were not even busy. My friend and I went here last week, maybe it was just the server we got, but she didn't even bring us chips. We had to ask a different server for chips after our food had already came. I had also ordered a side order of rice and she never brought it, I had to ask someone else for that too. I probably should have not tipped her but I still did.

Located so conveniently to my house, Zacatacos is a great option when I am in the mood for quick Mexican food. Although it is quite a small restaurant, the kitchen is always working and food is quickly prepared. If you can veer away from the amazing tacos, the tostadas and burritos are really good too. Try the al pastor and you are sure to not be disapppinted. The carne asada and chorizo are really good too. You can sit in the small dining room or get take out which is my preferred option. The food quality is great and the price is most definitely right!

The food here is outstanding! Ate in on Friday and did carry out on saturday because it was so good had to have it again. Pico de gallo was very fresh and delicious!! Papa (potato) tacos were absolutely my favorite! Marinated steak taco was also outstanding. Homemade chicken soup couldn't have tasted better if my grandma had made it! Will stop here when in the area every time!

Have you ever had a chorizo and egg burrito? Last night was my first and it made me happy like a kid on Christmas. I never knew such a thing existed. Zacatacos is just the thing when I'm looking for a nearby tacqueria for the fast burrito craving and am feeling too lazy to head to Summit. Steak and veggie burritos are also de-lish. The seating area is small, so I always order my food to go. Even more cramped is the waiting area for carry-out orders, which is essentially the entrance way. I made the mistake of thinking I can sit on the window ledge and quietly wait for my food, undetected by other forms of life, but I was wrong. My sitting-down gave the same idea to a giant, pink elephant. It's a fairly large window sill, but apparently the other end of the window sill wasn't good enough. No. The spot right next to me (and on me) was ideal. If you order for carry-out, you may want to call in your order before heading over to avoid any pink elephants and squashed limbs. Then you can enjoy your holiday-enducing chorizo and egg burrito in the privacy of your own personal space.

Husband and I were starving and I called Zacatacos to place an order. I didn't have a menu, but figured they would have the usual fare. I ordered tacos and ordered a chimichanga for husband. The tacos were pretty good. The veggie ones came with avocado. The dinner isn't really worth the extra money. We got a tiny bit of rice on top of the refried beans and they forgot our guacamole. Husband raved about his chimichanga and I was pretty happy with my tacos. There really isn't anything extra-ordinary about the food, but the restaurant is near our house and convenient and fast.

I had mistakenly left the following review for the Zacatacos on Cermak Rd. when it was meant for this one on Harlem Ave, where the old Kathy's Hacienda was. I went to this place a few weeks after it opened and after waiting in a very long line, placed and got my order to go. Drove home only to find that they totally screwed my burrito order up. How hard is to understand NO lettuce, NO tomato? The problem was that the meat was so damn good. I won't be going back though. My best friend has also had bad experiences there. Too bad, so much potential but the employees are complete morons.

Best burritos in the area. I love that they use skirt steak. Great food and reasonable prices. Try the flautas and you will be pleasantly surprised with yummy goodness.

After visiting the location on Cermak in Berwyn, I have to downgrade this location one star. The tacos at the Cermak location were better tasting and more tender.

You don't see Al Carbon every day. So, I got excited when I learned that Zacatacos cooks Al Carbon. But, I wasn't uber-thrilled. 5 Stars: Quantity! 5 for the $4.25 voluminous steak burrito filled with enough meat to feed a very very large carnivorous appetite! 4 Stars: Z's is cheap and easy and smells good when you enter...(now, don't be dirty! I'm talking Al Carbon here!) 3 Stars: Service is average in general. And, asking for red salsa means you get green. 2 Stars: Quality. Too much salt in the beef marinade that Z's uses and though tasty if you're into increasing your chances of hypertension, said beef also requires several minutes of severe molar mastication prior to swallowing each bite. 1 Star: Charging $1 for extra salsa. Will I go back? Maybe. But, there are thousands of other Taquerias I have yet to try. Las Asadas (Western/Charleston) has better Al Carbon. I wonder if Al Capone ate Al Carbon.

The best veggie tacos I have ever had! The guacamole is amazing too. I usually just do take out, but have dined in a few times and have always had good service. Good prices too. My number one taco place. I only wish they were open later.

I had never been to any Zacotacos, this one seemed a bit old, it needs to be updaded inside. I took my order to go, a Torta con Asaad meal that included rice and beans. The rice and beans were good. The meat in the torta was a bit chewy. As I was waiting for my order, I notice that they had about 20 or 30 pounds of meat on the grill all at once. Doing that makes the meat chewy, because it just gets steamed and not grilled as there is layer on top of layer of meat. I may be back and try something else, not sure.

I've seena few of these around the area so I decided to stop by and try some tacos. I ordered 2 al pastor and 2 carne asada with avocado. The tortilla is kind of harsh and not fluffy. The taste of the tortilla isn't as maizey as I'd hope. The avocado had spots of brown and the meat in each taco was only okay. There are much better examples of good tacos and I will try and avoid this place.

This used to be Kathy's Hascienda. The food is out of this world. The enchiladas verdes, green encheladas with steak, they were great. The portitions were pretty good, but I needed more. The service was stupid. I called the order in and when I got there I waited another 20 minutes for my food. If you can't handle the lunch rush, then get out of the kitchen. I would go back, but not at lunch.

I've passed by this place for months, and every time, I thought to myself, I wont go in there, too packed, the food can't be that good. Anyway a few weeks ago, my son wanted to try it. I placed an order over the phone, and the customer service was kind of like what others have stated, it's sub-par. Picked up my food, and went home. I have to admit, those were some darn good tacos!!!! So last night I was debating where I was going to eat, and my son mentioned Zacatacos. Again, I placed an order over the phone, and AGAIN the customer service was terrible! This time I ordered a burrito, and when I got home, I think it was better than sex! Oh my God!!! That meat made love to my teeth!!!! Never in my life have I had a burrito so good!!! I really would like to give Zacatacos 4 stars, considering the customer service is so bad, but GOSH DARN!! WHO CARES?!!!!! I don't have to go home with the cashier, well unless they start hiring 10's instead of 3's. ANYWAY!!! This food is good man, let me tell you, it is good!!!! But don't go there, cause I hate waiting for my food!!!

One of the better taquerias in the area. It's a chain, but they're not all created equal, this one is better than the others. It's nothing fancy, and has very limited seating, but the food is very good. We usually get the carne asada tortas or the tacos, actual grilled skirt steak the way it should be made.

I got a steak gordita-- DELISH! They were a nice size and about 3.50 each. I got two and i was completely full after one. 4 stars instead of 5 because the parking on the side of the building sucks and im always worried my car is going to get wacked in that narrow lot. But besides that this is the best mexican place around.

You can smell this place from 3 blocks away. Smells soooo good. The restaurant is priced right, always crowded, and has great portions. My only complaint is that the salsa is overly salty, which is not the case at the other zacatacos on cermak. Good spot for a cheap burrito but not nearly as good as Picante on Pershing.

If you want to eat your meal in the place, you are required to have a waitress and therefore pay a gratuity. Thats BS. The food was well priced but mediocre

Have often smelled the tantilizing aroma while driving by, so I decided to stop by and give it a try one evening. Service was OK; but, my al carbon steak taco was very dissapointing. The meat was about the texture of beef jerky. I've had al carbon elsewhere, and I guess I will be going back to them, not Zacatacos on Harlem.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
