Absolutely wonderful! The most amazing Fettucini Alfredo. Perfect sauce that clung to each perfectly cooked noodle. A perfect Italian margarita. Owners are friendly and hands on. Ambience is perfect for a date nite or family dinner - cannot go wrong. I went with a safe dish tonite but will try one of their other dishes soon. Menu had enough variety to satisfy most tastes but condensed enough to know each meal will be made fresh and not from reserved stock.

I'm going to give 2 reviews. Eating in the food has been very good and service attentive and friendly. It takes longer than some restaurants because everything is made to order and fresh. Definately get the lemoncello after dinner, great finish to the meal. 4 stars. Now for the second review. La Notte advertises that they offer carry out. It's in big bold print right on the side of the building and there is even a special window on the side for pickup. We live 2 blocks away and thought it sounded good for dinner. We called and the woman that answered was very annoyed with the fact that we were calling for a pick up order saying that the kitchen is too busy to do anything for us and to call back later and "maybe" she can have them do something for us. If you don't want to offer it don't advertise it and definitely don't get annoyed at the people calling to patronize your business. Zero stars and a bad taste in my mouth about the place.

If you have been to Italy or you're looking to pretend you're there, this is the right place. The food is delicious, and the staff is friendly and informative. I took my family here for my mother's birthday, and we were not disappointed. The father and son who run the restaurant are so knowledgeable and friendly. They are eager to share with you the types of food available, and how their family decided upon many of these menu items. It is also quite nice that every dish can be made to your desire. The food is well worth the wait!

Great food and the owner bent over backwards to make us the most satisfied customers. Very hospitable and clean. Homemade dishes and sauces that will marvel you!

You need to drop whatever you are doing now and eat here! This meal was hands down top 3 of my life! I would (and am) putting it up against meals I have spent almost $1,000 on. This restaurant beats the majority of those! We made reservations. I have no clue if it's normally necessary or not. I would go ahead and make them just in case. The service was phenomenal. From the hostess and server to the owner and bus boys. Every one worked together and took excellent care of us! The food is just life changing. Everything is made from scratch to order. They will make anything the exact way you would like it. We ordered from the menu though. We shared... Minestrone Cream of crab soup (on special) Pasta in a light tomato sauce with a red wine reduction with onions mushrooms and shrimp (on special) Orange zest ricotta cheesecake We have been talking about this meal nonstop since we left the restaurant. The wine list is also perfect. I will be back here as often as I can!

Had dinner at La Notte Cafe again tonight.First couple of times I wasn't impressed. And tonight Im STILL NOT impressed. It was just ok. My food took forever(about 40 minutes.) There was only 2 other tables there.I didn't order a well done steak or anything. And it wasn't that great.Wasn't bad though. My waitress was a little annoying but she tried so I'll give her that much.Theres not to many really good Italian restaurants in the area so MAYBE I'll be back but I think theyre just OK.At least theyre not Olive Garden.lol.

My husband and I love this place. You never feel rushed and the atmosphere is laid back. All the waist staff is very attentive. The food is always great and the new chocolate lava cake is yummy. Another plus is there is always parking. Now that is a plus!

A fantastic place owned by a truly nice Italian family with great food and service. It's a gem in Berwyn's Depot District, so if you are nearby, you really should visit. Have a lovely glass of chianti and some house-made pasta. You'll be glad you did.

So disappointed I had to walk out. After waiting for 40min and having two parties that arrived after us be seated before us made me think maybe it was all about the big bill since those parties had more people than just a party of two. It killed me, specially when walking out the owner yelled out 'Thank You'!!! What happened to that little neighborhood restaurant I remember?

This restaurant was recommended to me by a good friend. We finally went and it was worth it! We live close and hands down, it is the best Italian Restaurant in the greater Oak Park area. Service by the owner and son was warm and ingratiating. The whole fish and Ravioli were incredible as well as the recommended red wine. We will spread the word and be back soon. Don't hesitate!!!!!

Excellent baked cavatelli pasta with baked meatballs for dinner! My girlfriend had the tilapia plate with risotto. Both were overall excellent. Great Frank Sinatra music in the background and a romantic ambiance. We will definitely return to try more of the menu!

Went here with my wife on our anniversary because we seen the great reviews on yelp, was very dissapointed in the service and the food,my italian sausage was charcoal burnt had to send it back.Very pricey for bad italian food.Only good thing is the manager gave me my plate free because i was not happy.

This place is just very mediocre in every way. I would not recommend unless its a hostage situation (i.e. If a terrorist is holding you hostage at this restaurant and after a few days of starvation you need nutrients then eat the food). Otherwise just drive 5 minutes to somewhere in Oak Park.

Apparently the answer to any question is 'Its Christmas Eve' We have waited 30 minutes for our drinks? Its Christmas Eve Is our food coming soon its been over an hour since we ordered? Its Christmas Eve' We didn't get all our entrees at the same time? Its Christmas Eve You brought us our appetizer but no sauces? Its Christmas Eve' They had 2 waiters for the entire restaurant and was actually told by the waiter when we wanted to order that we could not because he had 5 other tables. Owner walked away from me during conversation. Will never be back and you should not either

Dude this place is the BEST Italian place I have ever been to, ever. Located in the heart of Berwyn, I came here for a business lunch with colleagues and we were greeted by very warm and friendly management. I would recommend dishes on this entry but 1, I do not how to spell/pronounce any of them. 2, I am unable to find their lunch special menu anywhere. So when in doubt, order something that requires pointing and not reading. I remember trying to order something with "Scarparelli" as part of the dishes' name and feeling rather stupid because I know I butchered it pronunciation of it. Anyways, this place is amazing and I will be sure to add dishes I tried next time! Follow-up to come...

Fabulous experience. Outstanding food. Go, eat enjoy the food the charm, the hospitality and the pride that make this place so special. Owner Giovanni and son Francesco provide an exceptionally personal and delightful experience which turned a delicious meal into a memorable occasion for our party of eight. Giovanni is not professionally trained, but rather cooks with the passion and passed down, time honored traditions of your aunts, uncles and grandparents, delivering rich, savory delicious food that our generation tries to replicate but can never master. Through a combination of fresh ingredients, traditional cooking techniques and the time, patience and dedication to making sure its done right, not quickly, this place transports you back to a comfortable place, making the food taste even more delicious. Practically every dish on the menu is customizable, either through sauce options, ingredient choices, pasta choices and anything else they can do for you. The mussels, pasta's, soups are divine. The Tiramisu, cannoli's, creme brule are fresh, home made and prompt the.much sought.."wow" reflex when first tasted. Casually comfortable decor, nice buzz but not to loud that you can't converse comfortably. A shot of Giovanni's homemade Lemoncella provides the perfect cap for a great night out. A great secret revealed!

I have been here twice and really enjoyed all that this restaurant has to offer. The owner is extremely personable and welcoming. Both visits have been on Monday evenings so the restaurant was quiet. The dining room feels just right and feels like an authentic Italian place. The food is not fancy but really well executed. Nice appetizers/salads. I had the caprese salad on my last visit. Good tomatoes (for January!), and the right mix of fresh mozzarella and basil....all drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Delicious pastas...I've had the gnocchi and ravioli...both homemade and excellent. Don't miss the homemade veal sausage if it is available. Excellent. Good desserts. Hard not to enjoy the food and ambiance at this jewel. I'll be back! I live about 12 miles away and well worth the trip.

Came here for lunch and it was amazing! Apetizer of goat cheese and marinara was the best!!! My daughter ordered the meatballs and my husband and I almost did not let her have any! The food is wonderful and homemade..we will be eating here the next time we are in Berwyn!

It was edible. Nothing special. Not sure how this place has 4 stars on Yelp and 4.5 on Open Table. Capri on Roosevelt is better and anything on Taylor St is way better than this place. Ambiance was nice, for the area....Berwyn is kind of an armpit. Had the farfalle w/ broccoli and a side salad. Pasta was in a small soup bowl and the salad was probably from a bag. Portions were small for the price. Highlight of the meal was the bread and oil. Overall, avg at best. Probably won't go back unless somebody else is buying.

Giovanni the owner made our experience absolutely wonderful! He was the sweetest, nicest, caring owner a restaurant could have. From him custom picking my wine for me to the customized dinner plate he served me! The calamari was mouth watering....Chicken with mozzarella and prosciutto was good. .. he then allowed me to get instead of the angel hair he let me try the risotto with mushrooms. Hubby had an absolutely amazing piece of salmon! OMG OMG OMG...... THAT WAS THE BEST PART OF DINNER! Now I have a thing for crunchy...and the outer part of the salmon had such an INCREDIBLE crunch to it! Now, this is why I'm listing it as only a 3....the Cesar salad dressing taste like if it came from a bottle/ $5 salad was pretty puny, my dinner the chicken/risotto...was only ok....the same goes to my ministrone soup. Other reason I give it only a 3, is they are overworking 1 of their staff members.... the poor guy is supposed to be a cook, but yet was cleaning tables, bringing out food, complaining under his breath how he's working 7 days/week...when we would address him he was very polite but you can tell he was bothered! You're staff helps make your business. . Treat your great employees well, they'll be willing to work harder and complain less! The other issue I have is how do you tip the owner since he was also the server? I find it a difficult thing especially when the food is overly priced for the quality. The $ amount is close to a nicer downtown Italian restaurant! We still will go back just because of the owners friendliness, but maybe catch the lunch specials instead?

People have said this Italian restaurant was good but we just went out for Christmas Eve dinner and were let down. The food was okay and was expensive for what it was. We waited 30min to get our drinks and put our orders in and when we kept asking about our drinks and if we could order our server was very mean to us. Then our food literally took and hour and ten minutes and I was with two little kids who were starting to lose it. Also our waiter didn't know the first thing about how to treat a customer.

New to the area, took a gamble and made a reservation for my gf and I based in these yelp reviews. Owner was a little weird, but tried his best to be friendly. The view is a train track for the metra, food is mediocre. The steamed muscles were so big they looked like they were from a nuclear waste pond. The steak was indeed a steak and thats the nicest thing i can say.

A few years later and we still love coming here for all of our special evenings! Service is still top notch (they even remember us!) and the food is always to die for. We never mind waiting a little bit since we know they cook each dish to order, but they have definitely sped up their service times over the last few years, which is great! We went the other night and sat down at the same time as a huge wedding party (and got a little nervous) but our meals were out very quickly. One small critique I would have is that the appetizers are a bit pricey for the portion size. The ones I've had are absolutely delicious, but we hardly ever order them since they are all in the $10 range. If they were a little bit bigger (so that we could share) or just a little bit less expensive(Like $6-$9) we would definitely order one every single time. This is the only place we ever order dessert from, and we always go for the homemade ones, the chocolate tulip is always a winner :) Oh, and do yourself a huge favor and order their soups...I had a smoked gouda chowder the other night....seriously the best soup I've ever eaten! Like, 'scraping the bowl with a piece of bread and resisting the urge to lick it' good. And the veal...oh my God the veal.....now I'm hungry! :)

This quite corner ristoranti in Berwyn was a wonderful experience. Giovanni took care of us and explained how everything is made fresh in the kitchen, so we just relaxed, enjoyed our drinks and the courses as they came out. An enjoyable evening. Thanks.

I had high hopes for this place and I was not disappointed! What I love is everything is made to order. So everything taste fresh and you can modify your order to taste. We started with an order of Bruschetta. The bread was toasted perfectly and the tomatoes were fresh and delicious. For entrees I went with the Fettucine Alfredo with Chicken. The sauce was creamy but not overpowering. My date had the Pollo Scalloppini special, which she enjoyed. But the mash potatoes that came with it were my favorite she had to stop me from stealing forkfuls lol. Finally we finished it all off with the Tulip for dessert. A mix of chocolate mousse and tiramisu in a chocolate shell bowl with tiny strawberries. All in all was a great dinner. I would definitely be back for more :D

Overpriced for the quality of food and service, also needs a renovation. The bartender can't make mixed drinks, don't order anything complicated. I ordered a Manhattan, she used white/ dry vermouth not red/ sweet. The hostess seated me, I order a glass of wine. Then the owner/ manager was trying to get me to move to a four top and squeeze in a high chair for my child. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller, speechless on how someone can screw up this classic recipe. It tasted like over baked Parmesan, felt sorry for the oysters. Goat cheese appetizer was good but just not enough goat cheese or too much sauce ratio is off. We ordered three pasta's in our group the noodle texture ranged from borderline raw to over cooked. Sausage was the worst I've ever had, almost grainy texture and dry. There are many other restaurants in near by towns which are much better in food, service and ambiance. This place is a pass don't waste your time for way over priced pasta.

At the recommendation of a friend who lives in Berwyn, a former colleague and I met at La Notte to see if the recommendation warranted a visit. The short answer is, yes, in all caps. Bruschetta. Bisque. House salad. Insalata caprese. Mediterranean sea bass with grilled vegetables and pasta. Risotto de mare. Tartufo. Chocolate tulip. Instead of ala carte, we decided to do our own version of a degustation. Bruschetta with plump tomatoes and drowned in oil is one thing. La Notte has chopped tomatoes with a drizzling of oil and cilantro that makes it outstanding. This was how I rememberd bruschetta in southern Italy. Our next course was the bisque that had crab in it. Creamy, fresh, and absolutely tasty, this soup was a better option that the minestrone, which I am sure was capital. My former colleague had the house salad with a vinaigrette while I delighted myself on the insalata caprese. Happiness. For the entrees, my colleague had the Mediterranean sea bass that was deboned at the table. The presentation alone was a work of art. But the bloom from the taste of the entree was all we needed to let us know that we had been served the best. My risotto de mare came with al dente risotto, tender calamari, plump shrimp, and delicious mussels. Bliss. While we should have stopped after the entrees, we had coffee and a plate of chocolate heaven for my colleague, cappuccino and tartufo for me. I can't speak to my former coworker, but I slept like a baby once I got home from the restaurant. Usually you would think of Paris when you hear of dessert that is "that" delicious. Sorry, Italy seems to be taking that spotlight, per representation at restaurants like La Notte. The service is absolute top. The father-and-son team, and their well-placed comedy, makes La Notte feel like you are going to a friend's home, not to a restaurant. I shall have to return with my camera, pen, and paper, so that I can do a proper review on my food blog. Not that I need a reason to return, but I will use the excuse that I need to blog the experience the right way for my rationale to go outside of Chicago proper for some fantastic Italian dining.

My husband and I came in here and from the minute we entered to the time we left the service was excellent. A father and son own this restaurant and everything was very personalized. The service was fast and the food was excellent. I had the blood orange prosecco and it was so tasty. We also had a glass of their homemade limoncello, very good. We'll be back for sure.

La Notte is charming and full of ambience. The food is delicious and their chocolate tulip dessert is addictive. The owners treat you like family and they accomodate any recipe with gluten free pasta. It is our favorite restaurant due to the best Italian recipes we have ever eaten.

Everything I had to eat and drink at this restaurant was phenomenal in addition to fantastic service. Our server Francesco was awesome and incredibly knowledgable about the menu and Italian cooking/cuisine. He also made our party of three feel more than welcome in his family restaurant. The mushroom risotto was easily the highlight of the meal but the basil gimlet was incredible and refreshing as well. We also tried the veal and beef tortellini special (forgot the name but there is an excellent story behind this dish, ask Francesco) and eggplant Parmesan. All were quite impressive. Give this place a try, super cozy for a date nite in downtown Berwyn.

I read great reviews about this place, I'm starting to think that they were paid. I picked this location solely based on online reviews, like most of us, and I was so disappointed that I may just stay in for a few months. I have lost all trust in the Internet. I will have to start with the fact that seating was an issue and yes I made a reservation days in advance. It just took them 20 minutes to seats us, so what's the point in having reservations? we were given a table almost right by the entrance, this being February in Chicago, every time some one walked in, a nice rush of cold air hit me. I know the restaurant can't control the weather, just putting it out there. Bread and water took a while to get to my table, I asked for olive oil, like all the other tables had, never got any, oil crisis maybe? We ordered our food, 55 minutes later, we get it. Let me describe it for you, the pasta was cold, the sauce was warm and the shrimp hot enough to melt the ice on the side walks. The pasta tasted as if it was prepared the day before, I'm not exaggerating. Microwave much? The shrimps, once cooled were good. On to my entrée, I ordered a steak, medium rare, so it wouldn't take so long, boy was I wrong. Not impressed, I can't really describe how disappointed I was, It was like getting an ugly sweater for Christmas. Enough with why I was disappointed, the desserts were great, order the tulip. Here is something interesting, the whole time we sat "enjoying" our meal, I noticed two tables that were reserved and not being used. Funny don't you think? We just had to wait 20 minutes before we could be sat and what a crapy table at that. By the way, we spent a total of two hours there, most not being by choice. To the fun part, the bill, wtf, I'm staying home from now on. I don't want to be disappointed and have to pay half of my car payment. I waited till the morning to write this, I have some experience on disappointment, I woke up rushing to my "office" and my wife was too. Good news is that I have decided to learn to cook, that way I can just disappoint myself and not cost me an arm and a leg. Two stars, the tulips were awesome, at least the water tasted just the way it should've.

We have been having our date-night dinners here for years! Come to think of it, we also bring the kids, and when folks come in from out if town to visit us, we bring them to La Notte. We've brought parents, friends from Europe, Africa and everyone confirms for us how wonderful the food is here and how fortunate we are to live in walking distance from such fresh authentic food. My husband and I have independently traveled to Italy where we feel the best Italian fare is to be experienced. Not so. La Notte's pasta is handmade and fresh; fish and meat specials are always ringers. I wish I knew more about food so I could elaborate. But every bite is an exquisite, flavorful bite, you want to savor every bite. People are often shocked and eyebrows are up in wonderment when they eat here. Worth the trip, worth the extra dollars versus other run-of-the-mill Italian joints in Chicago. Giovanni and his staff are masters of the Italian kitchen and we look forward to dining here for years to come!

Got the Groupon for La Notte, however, I've been meaning to go for months and months. I take the BNSF line and park right in front of this restaurant every single weekday. From outside, it's always smelled fantastic, and during the warmer months there is outdoor seating where you will watch trains pull in and out of the depot. Pleasant. I believe the owner served us. I felt like we were not welcomed as graciously as the "regulars" since we were just "grouponers", but after awhile he warmed up to us*. **side note: I always wonder why establishments participate in the Groupon program, and then seem to be put off when you walk in stating you've used one. If we like you enough, we'll be back and we'll bring friends and we'll spread the word and we'll YELP you - why would they want to piss you off? WE are powerful. Anyway, we started with bread with good Olive oil and cheese on the table. We ordered the Calamari which is lightly breaded and fresh. Marinara was tasty, as well. Entrees were Gnocchi with spicy marinara (with pancetta and basil) and 8 finger Cavatelli, baked with some Ricotta in there too. SOOO GOOD. The spicy marinara definitely had a kick, but it was unexpectedly delicious. The cavatelli was smothered in cheese, baked and HOT -- really a great dish. We tried each others entrees and the cheese from my dish was equally as delicious paired with his spicy marinara. We'll be back. We might even become "regulars". Watch out La Notte!

Gf's brother had a groupon for this place (seems like lots of reviewers on here came because of the groupon) so 4 of us went. Despite not eating meat and carbs from pasta/starchy vegetables the groupon was for 4 people and I figured I'd just do the best I could. First off, service was great. Gf must have had a million refills and each time Giovanni's son (our server) was on the spot each time she needed more pop. Both the father and son were very friendly which was very nice. Food was excellent as well. For appetizers we all shared the black mussels which were pretty big as well as being nice and plump. Very garlicky and delicious. I had the salmon dish per Giovanni's son's recommendation and I loved it. If only they would let me have some other veggies instead of potatos. No biggie though. Everyone else liked what they got it seems. Will definitely be back with the group again. Next time, it'll definitely be for one of their risottos which looked really good on another table!

Came here with my girlfriend for our first anniversary having only been here once before. The place is amazing. Superior service, food was out of this world. Portion sizes were perfect. Try the Gio Carbonera. My only complaint would be that the bread was stale.

Excellent service. At times, maybe a *little* too attentive, but we were there early. Made to feel right at home. I had linguine with clams in white sauce. Amazingly delicious and SO FRESH. Well worth the price. They even brought us limoncello on the house because they heard us talking about it. Would definitely come back.

What a great place! The Italian food here is outstanding and the wine list is right out of Italy! Giovanni and his staff are great at taking care of their guests and it's like coming to his home. The amazing food keeps me coming back and I bring my family and friends as well. One of the hidden gems in the Chicago area! This is a "must see" if you want authentic Italian cuisine!

This is a really good Italian restaurant in the Berwyn area. Great flavor. Real, true Italian style. Great location with plenty of parking. Love the outdoor dining area. Good wine selection. They have special from time to time for holidays. Nice owners. Attentive staff. Prompt service and food delivery. Great bread and olive oil. The only down side is it's a little on the pricey side. Great Italian food!

My friend and i had a great time here. He's originally from Berwyn, and now lives out of state, but he had heard about this place, came here and enjoyed his meal enough to plan to eat here with me when he was back in town. We ate here early on a Friday night when it wasn't yet busy. Our waitress was wonderful and the owner spent a lot of time at our table. We really enjoyed talking with him. We both went with the specials. I had the pasta Vesuvio which is unique, and my friend had the black ink linguini, We also had excellent appetizers, some good Brunelo vino as well as some Lemoncello. I love Italian food and really appreciate creative authentic Italian creations. Great food, great staff. We dropped some serious change here, but who cares?

The fifth star is for the nostalgia this place provides to a girl who grew up feasting on a hybrid of Northern and Southern Italian fare, which is effectively what you will find here. There is not a lot in the way of frills, save the spattering of dry parsley attempting to tart the dishes up. But the food itself? Solid and made to order, hence the lengthy wait times. I am cool with the longer wait and extended dining experience when I am delivered a plate of obviously freshly made food. Many of the items are made fresh on the premises and that much is apparent on first bite. Their housemade Limoncello is deceivingly potent. The owner starts with Everclear, as opposed to vodka. Beware. Tasty, but going to make a small girl tipsy! I look forward to returning with my father soon. I highly recommend to anyone with an appreciation for homemade Italian (read: not neuveau Italian-American haute cuisine, c'mon this is Berwyn!) cuisine done well.

YUM!! I was here for a large family graduation dinner, so I'm not sure if our meal was how the restaurant normally does things, but everything was delicious! The meal started out with yummy bread with olive oil to dip. Then came a course of antipasto. The prosciutto and artichokes were really good. Then came a course of polenta, and I've never had polenta before but it was really good, too. It was made with sausage and (I think) spinach. After that came a salad course. Just so-so for the salad. Gnocci with vodka sauce came next, and the sauce was SO GOOD!!!! Definitely my favorite course of the night--I ate the whole plate! Next came a plate with salmon (delish!), filet (just okay), and roasted potatoes (kind of plain). By this point I was stuffed, but the salmon was very tasty. For dessert we had a frozen lemonade treat, which was also very good. Portions were very large, and the whole meal took about three hours. Everything was great!!!

Incredible Italian just like Papa would make. Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service and incredible food at reasonable prices. Don't miss this gem in Berywn right by the train station. You'd pay more on Taylor Street or in the city. Everything is fresh and made to order. I can't say enough glowing words about eating there. Great place. We took our 4 kids and even though they don't have kid portions or menu they were gracious. Wonderful experience !

We really like this place. We bring our 3 year old here and sit either outside in the summer or by the big front windows to watch the trains. He loves them. And we love the food. The goat cheese marinara is really good as is the calamari. My favorite is the Rigatoni Filo de Fuma. I get it with linguine and the pancetta and spicy tomato make it so good. We had some friends in from other burbs for my birthday and they also really liked it and have since come back (even without us and we live in Berwyn!). The staff is always friendly and we like that it's family run. The only thing I wish they had was pizza...and that's just for the kids...because I probably won't get anything other than that pasta.

We've been here before but it had been a year or so ago. Since then they have remodeled and it seems like the son is more in the forefront. We were somewhat on the early side of 6 on a weekend evening and the place was empty. They did a great job of making us comfortable and getting us familiar with the menu, and making their recommendations. However, when we were ordering (3 adults, 2 children), we ordered 3 entrees and 2 appetizers and soup, we were told that sharing was not allowed. Boy, that was like a glass of cold water splashed on our face. So nice one moment, and then they pull the rug from under you. The waiter (son) must have realized the shock and said apologetically, that they would get people coming in with the groupons, parties of 6, ordering one dish to share. We have two children and we've ordered a lot of food, and the special that's $30, cut us a break. I think he realized his folly and said, it would be ok this time. We ordered the Fettucine fra diavolo, Fusili Alfredo, the special Mediterranean sea bass and the Soup of the day Gouda clam chowder. The sea bass was overcooked. The fra diavolo was fine, nothing outstanding but the alfredo was very good. In any case, I was not impressed by the food or the price. I thought it pricey for Berwyn. And also a sad commentary on the grouponers. We were asked point blank when we came in if we had a groupon (we did not), it was almost as if they were ready to put their groupon face on for us. I'm sure there are some grouponers that would warrant that reaction or service, but it seems like a shame that they would have to be so blatant with their stereotyping.

We were invited to a wedding anniversary luncheon at La Notte's and the food was fantastic all the way from the bread to the tiramasu dessert. The service was top-notch and the owner and his son were very appreciate and attentive to all of the guests. Our wonderful meal began with polenta that was creamy and rich and reminded me more of pudding. I 've had many a polenta that was tough to get down. You could have easily made a meal of this. Next came a basic salad which was drizzled with an oil and balsamic vinegar. The next course was cavetelli in a vodka sauce. I'm normally not a fan of vodka sauce due to the excessive cream used. This was perfect! Next came a platter of sausage and peppers that were wonderful. Unfortunately, for many of us we were so stuffed we juts picked at the sausage and peppers. To end the meal, they wheeled out homemade tiramasu that was both rich and delicate at the same time. Fine dining has come to Berwyn in the form of La Notte Cafe. It's become a destination restaurant for my wife and I.

A wonderful gem in Berwyn. We were warmly greeted and service throughout the night from Francesco was top notch. I started with a blood orange bellini and my partner and I shared the goat cheese marinara appetizer. Amazing start! My partner chose one of the evening specials which was a "Neck bone" ragu over pappardelle that the owner had made himself. It was outstanding. Reminded me of the great "Sunday gravy" that my college roommate's mom used to make. I had the minestrone and loved that the veggies and beans. My entrée was the fettuccine Bolognese and that was a real highlight. We will definitely return.

We are a family that enjoys heading to restaurants on big holidays. It makes life easier with cooking, clean-up etc. This year, we decided to take our family to La Notte for Easter dinner. Wanted to do something different rather than the old stand-by's in Oak Park or downtown Chicago, turned to Yelp for some ideas in the area and found La Notte, buried in Berwyn. Upon showing up, I knew we were in for a treat when greeted by Giovanni at the front. I immediately felt that I was back in the North End of Boston where everyone knows your name at the restaurants and treat you accordingly. We were shown to a great table where Giovanni and his son, Frank, went on to tell us that everything on the menu was customizable and they'd make us and our little girls anything they wanted. I love that personalized experience. We had a great interaction with those guys and as a result, they sent over some appetizers and the capper was some homemade limoncello as a night cap, nice. We started with the fried calamari for the girls and fried artichokes and big juicy oysters for mom and dad. Then, we had the Fettucini Amalfi, which was a concoction of seafood with the freshest Fett I've had in a while. My wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and that was delicious, too. Then onto the desert where we had homemade cannoli's and chocolate mousse. Awesome. We will definitely be regulars at this place for the foreseeable future.

Who'd have thought you could find such a spectacular Italian place just a few blocks from the Berwyn Metra stop. Been here on a couple occasions and have never been disappointed. Food, service, atmosphere are top notch. We had the pleasure of having Giovanni wait on us the other night. Wonderful man with a passion for what he does. Loves to put a smile on the customer's face and he always does. Very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and if I'm not mistaken they have some outdoor seating for warmer months. So wether you are in the mood for a couple drinks outside or want to have a fabulous Italian meal you need to put La Notte on your list.

Went to La Notte for the first time yesterday on a friend's recommendation. Wow! He wasn't kidding, this place is fantastic! Our waiter (and the owner's son), Frank, was very friendly and super informative. He explained how everything on the menu is customizable - even the sauces if you're willing to wait. His father is the owner and head chef. My sister and I split a baked goat cheese marinara for an appetizer, sooo good! The bread served with it had parmesan baked on it. Yummm. We both had potato gnocchi with vodka sauce for dinner, and her mom had gnocchi arrabiatta. All very good. We saved some of the pasta for leftovers so we'd have room for dessert - definitely the best part of the meal! My sister ordred the coconut sorbet, which she loved. And it came in a coconut half shell for a bowl. I had "The Tulip" - ohmywow! The bowl was a tulip shaped edible dark chocolate and white chocolate swirl filled with chocolate mousse, tiramisu, whipped cream, and strawberries. MMMMM... More please? Also noticed a small but cute bar area in the front as we were leaving.

this was such a weird place. Again, we were made to feel like a Groupon was just horrible over the phone, but in person, no big deal. Dinner was, well, ok, nothing "awesome" and I'm sorry, but if you can't make money on a $22.00 plate of pasta you are in the wrong business. Then they "suggested" the tulip desert, which was fine, but nothing special. And, of course, was not part of the Groupon, nor were we told to maybe order another desert.... Really, do they think we are so stupid? We waited almost 20 minutes for the bill, I finally walked to the hostess station to pay as we had to leave. We were then almost yelled at "I can only let people pay at the table" Really? Why? I will go back, and he said, oh it will be ok this time, it is for security, but that would be stealing from myself??? What???? Anyone want to bet this place is not here in a year??

This used to be one of my favorite spots but the last 2 times I have visited, the food has been sub-par and service horrendous!!! Wanted to stay local tonight and give it another chance --- our grilled calamari burnt with acidic after-tones ---- my made to order pasta --- burnt sausage and pasta not even cooked al-dente. I must add that the cannollenni special was delicious but didn't make up for the lack of service and the other burnt foods. We waited over a half an hour for appetizers ---one of which was an antipasto salad ---- really??!!!! Won't be back --- you just can't go home as they say-----

This is such an amazing find! Owned by father and son Gionvanni and Francesco...the food was fantastic (my daughter never finishes a plate, and hers was clean), the service was attentive and friendly, the wine was excellent. I asked about my husband's favorite Italian dessert (panna cotta), and Francesco said just to call ahead and they would make it special. My 7-year-old is picky, and they custom-made some chicken fingers for her that she is still talking about. I am a vegan, and they accommodated my every whim. Francesco came to our table and shared a sample of their homemade limoncello with us (which was, hands down, the bed I have ever had). We were one of 2 tables on a Saturday night, so while I would love to keep this as my own little secret, I also want this place to THRIVE. Seriously, this is as close to the restaurant in Moonstruck as you will get in Chicagoland. Just go, and you will return. And do yourself a favor and order a limoncello.

Let me start by saying the food was pretty good but nothing you couldn't get at any other Italian Restaurant. I had never been to this place but there was a Groupon for $39.00 that was worth $85.00 so I thought that was a pretty good deal. Apparently there was fine print that said of the $85.00 you could only spend $10.95 for an appetizer, $26.95 per entree and $10.95 fore two drinks..which doesn't equal $85.00 but OK close enough and I really wanted to try this place so I just decided to overlook it. So when we arrive I guess the owner (the guy with the gray hair and wonky eye) takes our drink orders (we just had two sodas), brings us our drinks and disappears. Finally, after 15 minutes I ask who our server is. So this poor girl who is working the outside and inside takes out order. We had the goat cheese marinara for an appetizer, my boyfriend had the pork chops and I had the linguine with clams. Very good dishes but nothing that great. We thought about ordering something off the specials list but that wasn't covered by our Groupon. We also had a dinner salad and that was not covered by our Groupon either...even though we had only spent about half of the Groupon' worth. Soooooo we get our check and the total comes to $57.00. Keep in mind we had a Groupon good for $85.00. We owe $10.00. I knew we would have to pay for the salad but WE WERE ALSO CHARGED FOR REFILLS ON OUR SODA. Yeah...super tacky. So needless to say I WILL NOT be back to this dump because of this sneaky move. Now I know why this place is dead all the time.

I have had dinner at La Notte a few times and have never been truly disappointed. I've had the baked cavatellli a couple times, one time they were over-cooked a bit and were mushy, but not too bad. The food has always come out piping hot. The service is good. It's kind of pricey, but not bad for the ocassional outing. I like the deck area, it's nice to watch the trains and people walking by.

Seldom have I experienced such gracious hospitality. Arrived at closing & owner Giovanni opened the dinning room for party of 4 & served us custom dinners. We were treated like royalty & even though he was keeping the kitchen open just for us we were encouraged to "relax & enjoy our dinner." We'll be back whenever in Chicago.

This restaurant deserves the solid 2-stars, mainly for friendly service. Husband and I go there for an early dinner, around 6 on a Friday night. We were seated, glasses were filled, bread and prepackaged butter was brought. "Fancy" restaurant with pre-packaged butter?! Although we were the only ones in our server's section, she took her sweet time to ask us about appetizers and then we waited a super long time for the main course. Appetizer - we ordered Insalate Paesana to split as an appetizer. We got a bowl of cut up cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and 4 olives drenched in oil. It was as if the salad was oil with vegetables instead of vice versa. Main Course - Spagghetti Amatriciana is basically spagghetti with tomatoes. Although the menu mentions pancetta, I saw a tiny square or two. It was extremely bland as the dish lacked all the flavor. Husband ordered the daily special which was ravioli with gorgonzola cheese sauce and sausage. The cheese tasted nothing like gorgonzola. It tasted like buttermilk, not a hint of gorgonzola. The ravioli were drenched in the sauce. The sausage? Oh, it was barely to be found. There some slices on top of the ravioli, but not worth mentioning. From what my husband could tell, the sausage was dry. Overall, the restaurant is overpriced and the service is too slow.

The food is good. I cannot deny that. But what drives me crazy is the service. Pencil in two hours at least for a meal if you go for dinner. Perhaps it's gotten better since we've last been there, but my sources tell me it hasn't. It's on the pricey side, which doesn't bother me if I'm taken care of... but at $$$ prices, I don't want to be waving down the wait staff for another glass of wine, or to clear my plate, or for the check... Also note that salads are extra... not included with the entree as is sometimes implied. Take out might be the way to go with this place cause you still get quality food. Granted we were charged nearly $20 for chicken alfredo one nite. One order and some [apparently not] complimentary bread. Like Hannah A, I want to like this place more, I really do, and I'm giving it three stars because I'm hoping others like it more than I do.

Part 1 of 2: The ladies can relate to what I am about to say more than the men can, unless you have a girlfriend like I do. Ever been to Lush? You know the place in Macy's that has all that bath crap that girls go crazy over. Do you ever dread going in there because you know your going to be bombarded by a customer service person that wants to tell you about the deals of the day, only to turn around to be swamped by another representative that wants to give you a demonstration of their products. That is kind of the vibe I got when we went to La Notte's. We went there with a Groupon. Giovanni, the owner, was our server...kind of. We really didn't have a server, but he took our order when it came to the drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts while someone else brought the food out. I'm usually a frugal type of guy. I buy a groupon, use the value it has on it, and do not spend a cent more. However, I wanted to love this place. I wanted this to be the place we would go to for all of our birthdays and special occasions. I wanted this to be "our" place. I visited their website, saw their menu, saw pictures of their restaurant, and was happy to see that it was a family business ran by father and son. So I said screw it, let's go a little overboard. Let's see what this place has to offer. Who cares about the value of the Groupon. We got water to drink, because we're on a health kick and trying not to obtain empty calories from the beverages we drink, plus I recently had a condition with my heart so I am trying to be extra cautious. Giovanni tried to push the wine on us, but we declined. I did not initially fault him for trying, with the way wine is marked up in restaurants (I know, I work at an Italian chain), it is pure profit in your pockets when your guests buy it. We continued looking over our menus as bread was brought to our table. When Giovanni came to take our appetizer order, he gave us some thoughtful suggestions. We decided on a dish called Mozzarella something. I forget the name of it, in fact, I didn't even look at it because Giovanni recommened and because I knew there was no seafood in it so my girlfriend's stomach would agree with it. It was a special menu item, so it most likely will not be on the menu for future reference. After we ordered the appetizer, Giovanni proceeded forward with trying to up sell us and said, "You guys have to get some wine, come on what can I get you." It was then that I had to inform him about my condition and the fact that my girlfriend already had enough to drink the night before when we went out for her birthday. He let it be, but it aggravated me that I had to go into the details of my personal life, just so I could justify not buying a glass of wine. As far as the appetizer was concerned, it was pretty delicious. It had this eggy cheese sauce on top of it. If I could have this prepared for me every morning for breakfast, I would scarf it down every day (heart condition or not lol), just the same it was a tasty filler to eat before the entrees were prepared. On to the main courses, I got the Risotto Di Mare and my girlfriend got the Chicken Parmigana. When the entrees came out, Giovanni checked to see if everything looked appealing to us. We said everything looked wonderful. Then came another sales pitch, "So how about I get you guys something other than water to drink. We have ice tea, soda, etc." IF I WANTED SOMETHING OTHER THAN WATER TO DRINK, I WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU!!! It was ridiculous that the subject of drinks would be brought up again this late in the meal. I just did not get it. What the hell man, is it not enough that I bought an appetizer from you and that I had the intentions of following dinner up with a dessert. I simply said a kind "no thank you" rather than expressing my real thoughts. Funny thing was our water never got refilled after that. However, I do not believe this was done out of spite of us not getting different drinks. I believe it was simply because the busser was chilling in the back by some tables and did not have much concern for our table because he was chit-chatting with another girl that worked there. Regardless, the busser could have been more attentive.

La Notte is a charming little restaurant in the Depot district of Berwyn. Our service was efficient and very friendly. The owner and his son (also waiter) checked in a few times and explained everything about the food and the restaurant. The atmosphere is comfortable and close to a traditional italian family restaurant. Small bar area and cozy dining area. We sat outside on the deck and really liked it though some people might find it loud since there are trains going by every few minutes. Food was better than average, but not fabulous. I had salmon encrusted with potato and it had a good flavor, but I thought the potato would be grated finely. It was like 'hashbrown-style' potato on top of the salmon. We also had pasta with bolognese sauce which was very tasty. Dessert and appetizer were also very good. Overall we were very happy with the experience.

OMG, this restaurant is Fantastic! Between the food, service, owners hands on attention to detail, our whole group was raving about this dining experience. We live in Chicago, many of us are foodies, have eaten at many Italian resturants in Chicago and elsewhere. All of us agreed that this was the best or one of the best! I ordered the seafood risotto and added asparagus to it. The meal came with whole shrimp, calamari etc.....never saw this in a risotto before. I could go on and on, but don't generally write reviews. Just had to do it for this restaurant. We decided this is a destination restaurant....not just a place to go before we go listen to music at Fitzgeralds:)

Went here awhile back with a Groupon. The server was nice, very attentive but when my husband asked for a reasonably priced glass of port the server suggested Dow's 20 year Tawny port. Hubby said ok (we didn't ask the price, so I guess we got what was coming). Price for a glass = $28!! Now, my husband got the Risotto Di Mare for dinner and it was only $26. You'd think if someone asked for a reasonably priced glass of port that the waiter wouldn't suggest something that cost more than his dinner! Googled this port today and price of a bottle of this port = $46. Just plain wrong (and I know there's a heavy mark-up, but come on). Glass of wine selection was wimpy. Fox Brook and Hirsch - those are $6 - $10 bottles at CVS. Otherwise, the meals were good but nothing that we can't live without. The tulip dessert was delicious but it said it had tiramisu in it which I didn't find. There are plenty of places around the area that are equally as good for a lot less money. Try JC's in McCook or Via Bella in Countryside.

I went there tonight for about the 50th time since my uncle has first taken me there. I really do love this place and I would say that about a quarter of the love is that we get excellent service no matter what because my uncle knows the owner. And speaking of the owner, Giovanni, he and his wife are very lovely people!!!! I am not going to forgot to mention that the waitress/waiter along with the busers are also very friendly to the guests as well. I had the Tilapia Giovanni tonight, which is always a favorite. The fish is great and the tomato cream sause is to die for, and when combined it melts in your mouth. I was full after the entree because, lets face it, when you are dining at an Italian restaurant you can become quiet full before hand with the olive oil/chesse combination with the bread. In typical fashion my uncle likes to DINE!!! So after our plates were cleared he wanted dessert and coffee. I usually get the crème brûlée, because they make it they way I like it, not a sloppy pudding but more of a custard and fresh fruit. But instead they offered an additional dessert menu and I opted for the Pinapple Sorbet in a real half fruit shell. Fruit shell? I honestly didn't know what to expect. When the plate came out I was impressed. A pinapple was cut in half and hollowed out then filled with the pinapple sorbet and on the plate raspberry sause was drizzled. When the sorbet and raspberry were combined, was a nice little punch of flavor. Fabulous time, will be back before school starts!!

Groupon brought me here recently for an early dinner. I guess we were there kinda early (4:10 when they open at 4) because the host and waitstaff/kitchen staff didn't appear ready to serve dinner. We were off to a slow start , but ordered the fried calamari and was disappointed that it was over cooked and thick cut so very chewy. Then we moved to soup which was good, but could have been a little hotter for soup. Entrees were on deck and I had a scallop and shrimp pasta special that was excellent, but for what I paid I thought I would have gotten a bit more. My guest ordered gnocchi and it was very heavy and chewy so that was a let down. We all shared a canoli at the end.. it was average. The host/waiter/possible owner was busy and it did take too long to get the check. For what this place costs without a groupon I may pass on a second visit.

My wife and I had our anniversary dinner here. She tried this restaurant for lunch during the week and decided it would be a great place to dine for our celebration. This was the best decision she could have made. We started with an appetizer of Calamari with marinara. My tastes lie with a saltier calamari, but I was not disappointed. It was a great starter for the night. We also had a glass of Chardonnay recommended by the owner. The menu has quite a variety. I was favoring fish as an entree so I kept a sharp eye out. I found a great dish called Tilapia Giovanni. Tilapia covered in a light tomato cream sauce, with red pepper and artichoke on a bed of risotto. To begin with, the risotto is so creamy, it could be a meal by its self. The sauce was so flavorful, yet not so over powering to drown out the wonderful taste of the Tilapia. Very tender and very succulent. I knew a "doggy bag" was not an option, and I was forced to finish my portion and face the music later. My sweety decided on a pasta dish. A spicy concoction of linguine and a light marinara with capers and shrimp. It's spice was very subtle and hit you when you least expected. Although her meal came with a few sniffles do to the spice, it was too delicious to worry about a such things. Finally, we came to the best part: the Dessert. There was plenty to choose from, but I only had one thing in mind. Tirimisu!!! To my delight they had 2 to choose from: Traditional or Chocolate. I chose to be adventurous and went with the Chocolate. Best decision ever! I highly recommend this restaurant for a very romantic, very enjoyable experience. Great for both a couple a groups of friends.

This place was amazing! My whole family went there on a Sunday evening, when they are normally closed, but the owner opened for us specially because it was my Dad's birthday. Not only did we have the whole restaurant to ourselves with a full menu available to us, but the owner himself, Giovanni, served us and was very personal and friendly. We chatted about our families and many connections that we had with him. The food is all family recipes and Giovanni prepares all of the sauces and soups himself each morning. He and the head chef often cook together, and they do some fine work. We ordered several appetizers (mussels, clams, polenta- and oh my goodness the polenta is delicious), salads and soups (both the minestrone and the special seafood bisque got rave reviews) and I was almost stuffed by the time my main course arrived. Our whole table ordered a selection of pastas and meat dishes, and not a single person didn't say it was the best Italian they had had in a while, if not ever. Some highlights: Rigatoni al Filo Fumo, Black Fettucini, Cavatelli (both ways), Veal, Seafood Risotto, and the list goes on. We finished with a few desserts (they were all great, but the main courses out-shined the desserts), and Giovanni's homemade Limoncello. Do not leave this restaurant without trying the Limoncello. It has all of the right flavors but is still easy to drink. All in all, this place is a hidden gem that is well worth a trip to Berwyn.

I had been here before and received good service but this time when my wife and I decided to share a meal it a appears it upset the owner. They took over 30 minutes to serve the appetizer and the main plate was smaller than usual. When I tried to use mt Groupon to pay the owner came to our table and stated he coyld not accept it because we were suppose to show it before ordering. After I showed him the terms on my phone he accept it and let me know how upset he was. I will never return to this restaiurant.

I had a good meal but I don't think it was anything special. There are so many good Italian restaurants that it is hard to stand out. The menu was as you would expect, but a bit pricey. However, it is nice to have another fine dining option in Berwyn. The Depot District is looking up!

It was my first time to this restaurant and my 4 yr old and I had lunch. The service was very attentive, five stars for service. I would like to go back for dinner and maybe it will be a five star rating. I had the meatball sandwich with potato chips which was a nice change from standard fries. My daughter eat all the chips. Nice atmosphere and the outside patio looks romantic but it has way to hot today.

My husband and I went there unexpectedly on New Year's Eve. We live right across the street and had never been before. We were happy they were able to accommodate us on such a big night. That's where the flattery ends. I have several complaints... 1. We ordered wine and the server couldn't remember which glass was in which hand. Pinot, Shiraz. They're all the same! 2. The calamari was average. We were rushed to finish it. "Are you done with that?" "No." Two minutes later, the same exchange... 3. I ordered the NYE lobster special. It was tough in some parts and mushy in others. My butter was on my husbands veal chop plate. 4. His potatoes were missing altogether and we had to remind the server of how our dishes were to be prepared. Other than that, I will say that he enjoyed his dish. The veal tasted great. 5. Dessert. How do you mess up Spumoni? You mix in whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, and cover it with powdered sugar. Why would you mess up something that's so good right out of the container? Service was rushed, yet I can almost understand that considering it was NYE. However, there was NO LINE waiting to be seated. The dining room got smokier as we sat there. Perhaps the additional venting in the dining room just isn't enough. We were very disappointed for several reasons. The primary reason is because we live so close and would love to support our local restaurants and businesses. I don't see us ever returning... Hopefully the regular menu keeps the other locals coming.

My wife and I went for the first time on Saturday evening. We both loved it! We started with the fried calamari, and they were perfect. My wife wanted chicken saltimboca, and it wasn't on the menu...no problem. And she says it the best she's tried. I had the linguini with clams in white sauce, and I thought it was phenomenal. We both had to force ourselves to stop eating, and then the waiter somehow talked us into sharing a dessert. Chocolate tulip with chocolate mousse, Wow! We have discovered our new Italian restaurant. The waiter was great (didn't get his name), the restaurant is romantic. I can't wait for the weather to warm up to eat outside.

I ordered their cold seafood salad to go on Friday night. It was excellent. There were clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, octopus and scallops on top of a leafy green mix with cut peppers. None of the seafood tasted "fishy" and there was plenty of garlic and lemon in the vinaigrette to add flavor. All in all, pretty good. (Just make sure you chew plenty of gum if you plan on talking to anyone after eating it -- especially if you happen to be bartending, like I was!) :)

I am always looking for a great Italian Restaurant that can deliver food and I have always been disappointed until now. I not actually sure if they deliver, but the owner said he would and sure enough there he was 40 mins later at my door with some of the best pappardelle pasta I had ever eaten. We also ordered the soup of the day which was a seafood chowder and it was amazing. I will definitely order from them again, but I would like to eat in the restaurant to really experience their food.

I absolutely loved everything about this place and seriously, I think it's one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Went there last night (a Friday, around 7), expecting typical Italian restaurant food and service and we were greatly surprised. Service was excellent, starting with awesome wine recommendations, and continuing with explanations of the food and flexibility in how we could order any pasta with pretty much any combination of other ingredients. Our server was the owner's son, and his passion for food and his father's creative recipes was greatly appreciated. The food was awesome. I had egg ribbon-type pasta (can't recall the Italian name) in a subtle but intense smoked gouda white sauce topped and somewhat blended with lightly sauteed spinach and shredded carrots, surrounded artfully by slices of their special lamb/pork sausage. All home-made. I don't usually notice pasta, especially when accompanied by so many other delicious ingredients, but it was so tasty - the whole dish was just amazing. My partner had the linguine in clam sauce and he was equally impressed. He said the clams were so fresh, it was as good or better than similar dishes he's had in Boston. The ambiance was nice -- quiet, candles, nicely painted a calm sage green with off-white, intimate but not too crowded. The server and the owner were especially friendly and generous - giving my partner a sample of some kind of a dish he had commented on (which he thought was also amazing). We will definitely recommend this to anyone, and we will return...

Went here with a Berwyn friend last fall. I had the Baked Cavatelli and it was very cheesy. Had a nice flavor but wasn't anything I haven't had before. I would rate my entire experience here as average. I'm glad I went and enjoyed my dinner but will definitely try more Berwyn locations before I head back here.

Walk next door to Solarno's. I ordered linguine and broccoli dish. The broccoli was raw and there was oil dripped on top. My husband did not like his dish either. I do not know why Berwyn opened an italian place next door to an italian place. Wake up Berwyn, lets get better restaurants.

This place is truly amazing!!! To begin, the atmosphere is a great get away from busy days, the food is cooked perfectly, the service is phenomenal! Its a dim light italian music soothing enviornment with friendly staff who truly and I mean truly care about their guests. They will go head over heels to accomodate you. Their dinners are full of flavor and not to mention that they have wide wine selection. This place is amazing, it's truly what a dinner experience should be as well as very romantic.

This is a great little neighborhood restaurant. They were closed for a while but are back...dinner is served only on Friday & Saturday nights, but they are open for breakfast/lunch during the week. Delicious italian food, friendly staff, nice decor. My husband has declared their tiramisu the best he's ever tasted...and trust me he's tasted quite a few. They also have a location in Darien which is great as well!

We live down the street and so I really wanted this place to be great. I love the decor, sitting in their outdoor seating and watching the trains roll by. The service is so friendly and they really make all the effort. But...the problem is that the food is so pricey for what it is. And, the service is incredibly slow! I am not sure if that is just part of the Italian experience or a staff issue. I think the food was fine but not worth the prices. We went here just for some drinks and dessert over the summer and while the drinks arrived pretty fast, the dessert never showed up. The owner came out to apologize, but it was uncomfortable because he started yelling at the waiter in front of us. My husband was annoyed and mentioned that we've had issues with their speed before and the owner got very angry and said "I'm not slow!! I'm not slow!!" It almost seemed like he had heard this before...hmmm... anyhow, now we are done with this place.

I will dine at La Notte Cafe any day of the week. Depending on your order, (any risotto) takes time to prepare. I find the prices reasonable for the quality of the entrees. No apps for us, I had the Risotto del Mare, yes pricey, but well worth it. I took home the rest of the risotto and had it for lunch the next day. My husband had the Rigatoni La Notte. He also had l/o's for the next day.We go at least once a month for a "date night". So glad we discovered this gem. I we

This place is so wonderful, more people should know about it. Their italian sausage is amazing. It is actually Bari sausage which is made with lamb. The service may be slow but everything is so freshly made. The wait is worth it. Amazing selection of wines. Any of their pasta dishes are great. Going for lunch is a deal!

I went there for lunch today and was very pleased with the food, the service and the decor. Therre were four very picky Italian-American women in my group. (We are a restaurant family - family with a lot of chefs) and we all liked it very much. One of us asked for a special meal, not on the menu, and the owner was happy to make it. Try it.

My family eats here all the time. It is a little pricey, but worth it. The sauces in particular, are great. I believe that most food is made to order.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
