This was my first time at Riddles and unfortunately, probably my last. I had gotten a LivingSocial deal. The deal stated that for $20 it included 2 tickets, 2 drinks and 4 tickets to come back. Normally there is a 2 drink minimum for every show but my deal stated "2 drink minimum waived for first show." The website states to arrive 45 mins to 1 hour early as seating is "first come, first serve;' however, the show started at 8 and they made everyone wait at the bar (any drinks purchased there do not count towards the 2 drink minimum) until 7:50 and everyone rushed the doors so there is absolutely zero reason to show up early. After being seated they asked us for our first round of drinks and the MC and told some pretty awful jokes (some real groaners). 3 comedians followed. The 1st one was awful (at this point I'm starting to question what I decided to do with my evening). The 2nd guy was much better and main comedian Michael Palascak was so hilarious I couldn't breath at times because I was laughing so hard. This would all have been great except throughout the performance the waitresses asked multiple times if we wanted another drink and then at last call informed us of the 2 drink minimum. After telling her about what our voucher had said she persisted to say we needed to order more drinks. I asked if she was able to retrieve the voucher. She told me no and that I would have to talk with someone else. Since we are in the middle of the main act, I asked if we could finish addressing this after the show (we were seated near the front and I would think this commotion is both distracting and rude to the comedian and those around us). I was told that we had to address it now so I stood up and left in the middle of the performance. Once out in the bar area, they had difficulty locating the person I needed to speak with which was more frustrating because I was missing the show. Someone was able to dig up my voucher and I pointed out what it said about the 2 drink minimum being waived. Just then the manager came storming over and we showed him the voucher. He was angry because apparently it had been a misprint and the statement about the 2 drink minimum being waived was not supposed to be on there. He made a snide comment that he didn't think it should be very difficult for anyone to purchase 2 drinks and didn't think it should be an issue regardless. Listen buddy, if I'm using deal websites to come to your comedy club, I'm trying to save money and maybe I don't want to pay for more drinks (of course I didn't say any of this). He then stormed off and told the girl we were standing with to "do whatever." We were then told that it was fine and we could go back to the show. After that whole mess I was concerned that it would be difficult to enjoy the rest of the show. Thank goodness Michael Palascak is so funny! While our waitress came over and apologized I was upset concerning the actions of the manager. I think the situation could have been handled much better. When we went back in a woman nearby leaned over and said she was dealing with the same situation. What a mess! When we were leaving I wanted to hand them the 4 free tickets for future shows and say, "we wont be needing these," but we threw them away at home instead.

I've been here a few times. There always seems to be one really funny comedian and one sort of funny comedian. I think they have a two drink minimum, which is fine, but I don't like being told to drink. Especially when I already paid like $10 for the show. The (woman's) bathroom is WAY too small, and yet they squeeze a bathroom attendant in there. Why? Where am I? Some over-priced club in Chicago? No, I'm in a strip mall in the OP. Get real.

I came here on a Saturday night in the middle of October. I had no idea that Riddles was at the end of the shopping center next to El Gallo. The price was ok a little more than I expected. Plus, they have a two drink minimum per person which makes sense. The drinks you buy at the bar outside do not count towards the two drink minimum. The opening comics were decent. The reason I went to Riddles was for the headliner Michael Palascak! I have been a fan of Mike for a long time. If he has gigs close to my place I head out to see him. I have seen him at Zanies in Old Town and even watched his half hour special on Comedy Central. I enjoyed seeing Mike and the openers were also funny. Riddles, I will be sure to come and visit again the next time Michael Palascak is in town!

Dont even bother stepping foot in this dump! I ve been here a couple of times and I was never really impressed. Last night i decided to give it another try and oh man was that a mistake. Definitely the last time I'm ever stepping foot in this place. I am not one to write negative reviews but this has to put out there so people don't waste time coming here. First off the comedians were mediocre, not very funny and they have had the same opener the times I've been here with the same not at all funny lines. Give it a break guy...we get it, you like Harry carry. Secondly the drinks are overpriced and watered down and your glass is mostly filled with ice. Thirdly the management staff and service staff are extremely unprofessional. Let me explain our horrible night here, I had previously received free passes here because on numerous occasions when arriving to the club there was not enough people so they canceled the event. That should have been a red flag but we continued to try it out regardless. One of the days the headliner wasn't able to make it so we received more free passes and one of the guys working the event even gave me 2 free drink passes for my next visit which of course made me want to visit again. As soon as we arrived we were pressured into getting a drink at the bar, no menu or anything. We ended up ordering a jolly Martini and bartender said she would send it to our table. As soon as I sat down I mentioned to the waitress that I had two free drink tickets and she said ok. A martini is typically made with vodka and of course it's usually pretty strong. This "martini" tasted like juice and no alcohol at all. It took the waitress about 15 mins to even approach us again, when she finally did my sister asked if the drinks were virgin because they tasted like juice and not like a martini the waitress said that we would have to go talk to the bartender which of course was during the middle of the show. She never came and asked to see if we were doing okay or if we wanted anything else. Then the waitress comes back with our check of $36 for three watered down, full of ice jolly rancher "martinis" which included 20% gratuity. She tells me that the drink tickets i had were invalid because they were not signed. My sister goes and Talks to her during the show and in the seating area I can hear the bartender yelling through the doors. You can suspect we were unable to enjoy the rest of the show. At the end I calmly asked the bartender why she wouldn't accept my tickets that I received because of the cancelation and she said in a defensive tone because they were fake and she just simply wouldn't accept them. We were paying the bill except for the tip because I refused to give a tip for service I was unsatisfied with and she said of course we wouldn't because we were trying to rip them off according to her. I asked if we could please speak to a manager because she was being very unprofessional and she said that she was part owner. When we aked her name she wouldn't give it to us. We mentioned to her that we would write a bad review and she said she didn't care, she said that they have thousands of customers and wasn't scared of losing customers like us that came in for free and that we were faking drink tickets because we couldn't afford to pay for them. Mind you this was all being yelled to us while she still had customers at the bar. She was causing a scene but we wanted no part of it, we paid and left. If she had thousands of customers coming in like she claims ,they wouldn't have given us free tickets TWICE in the first place because of lack of audience. All in all, very unprofessional and not even worth the time or money spent. I wouldn't doubt this place closes down in a couple of months. Word of advice to the owners, hire a new bartender because she's going to drive your customers out of there or if she is part owner as she claims....buy her out and send her unprofessional, obnoxious and rude self out if there.

You know what this place needs, to give out free tickets. The place seems ok but not for the money you spend. I went on a Saturday night and it was not even close to full. The comics were ok. No one famous but they seemed like they could get there with a little more publicity. The inside of the club is nothing like what I expected. There is long cafeteria style seating, so no intimate moments and chances are good you will be seated with strangers so the place looks crowded from the stage. There is a two drink minimum and you will need at least 3 to get any type of buzz. Also, why can't you split checks? I mean come on. My recommendations to the owners: 1. Score some big names or even slightly big names to headline. 2. Give away some free tix to boost up your crowd (Check out the Funny Bone model it works.) 3. If you are going to have a two drink minimum, make it worth the customer's wild. No more extra ice or short pours. 4. Invest in 2-4 person seating. Your current digs seem cheap. That is all.

I don't frequent comedy clubs often but I went to Riddles Comedy Club about a month ago and it was a terrible experience, by far the worse comedy club I've been to. I purchased the tickets from Groupon and regret that first and foremost but secondly, I regret actually going. So there were several factors to Riddles sucking. One was the fact that it was so far but of course, I can only be so mad about that. The fact that every comedian was terribly unfunny is the reason Riddles gets one start, If I could, I wouldn't give them any stars. A few other reasons I'll never go back to Riddles is the people there were outright rude, they looked like very homely (homeless), and again the comedians were HORRIBLE. A night filled with bad comedians is one thing, but to have to drive so far for bad service, tacky looking employees, weak drinks, and outdated facilities is simply unacceptable; all the to say, they should be closed down. The rest of my night, before and after, were great. =)

This is the best comedy club in town! Always a good show, Started off slow with the new location, But has been getting packed. Dinner Show Packages available with 2 great restaurants, Papa Joe's in Oak Lawn & Krapils Steak House in Worth, Jimmy "JJ" Walker, Rain Pryor ( Richards daughter), Marc "Skippy" Price, Dane Cooks opening act, Al Del Bene, just to name a few of the great acts that been to Riddles

Here tonight wth my wife my wife to see Judy Tenuta. We have been huge Judy fans for at least twenty years. After all that time she has not skipped a beat in her approch to comedy. The club itself was very conducive to the audience atmosphere. Definitely in our sites for future comedy acts.

Came here a few months back. Wasn't too crowded. Service was ok. Some of the opening acts had some funny moments. The main act wasn't that great. I would go back to check out other acts in the future. Laid back place to get a few drinks and to watch some comedy.

I took a date there 2 weeks ago and we had a blast! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that the bartender gave me a hard time. I found a Groupon for Riddles but couldn't find it on my phone for some reason. She said let me take a look. So I gave her my phone and she yells oh look this! A strip club! I just played it cool. Luckily my date has a sense of humor otherwise I wouldn't be seeing date #3. The comedians were all funny. I just didn't like sitting up front but who does? The last guy was the funniest. He did a perfect imitation of Beavis and Butt head and Ozzy Osborne. He had the glasses and was stuttering like we all know Ozzy does. So if you're looking for a place to go with friends or a date I would definitely recommend it.

This is perfect for a local night out. The service was slow and drinks were high but I still had a blast!!! The seating is very awkward!! If they made the seating more of a comfortable lounge or even bar tables it would most likely bring in more people as silly as that sounds. However, this place is perfect for friends, dates, married couples ect. Give it a chance! I recommend eating before you come they only have a few items

  • Cordelia K.

Decided to check this place out because of how cheap it was on Groupon. Well, after going there I understand why the tickets were dirt cheap. The bartender that greeted us was rude and abrasive, the staff was slow, the drinks are overpriced and the room the show was in was sweltering hot. I have 6 free tickets to go back that I will definitely not be using.

  • Nancy C.

What a terrible night. The comedians were ok, reminded me of someone's drunk uncle making awkward jokes. The drinks were awful. But what did it for me is when the bartender/"co-owner" started to argue with my friends and she started to insult them.. Claimed we wanted free drinks and a free show. We never asked for a free hand out, solely for her to fix our drinks. Also a mandatory 20% tip for a waitress that took forever to wait on us and took over 30 minutes to get back to us is ridiculous. This place is a dump and waste of time, save your money and go somewhere else.
