Well I was kinda bummed about this place. I was using my awesome MY DEALS discount app with my WV membership. I had driven past this place hundreds of times but with so many Mexican options in the area I never stopped in. We decided to try out our app, as El Coyote was listed in the app and their logo and address all matched. I never had any problems using the discount at larger chains and this was my first time using it at a mom and pop type place from the list. Anyway, we dropped in and began to order two entrees with the idea that we would get half off an entree. And as in ordered I presented the online coupon and the woman somewhat rudely stated that the restaurant didn't accept those coupons and she had no clue what it was without even looking at the screen. At that point, I was turned off by the reaction to my presentation of the coupon that we decided to leave and head down the street to another Mexican restaurant. An apology and courteous explanation is all I expected. I would have purchased our meal without the coupon but I was left with a bad impression with the dismissive response. ACCESS/MY DEAL participants, just want to point out that this place is not honoring the online coupon, just an FYI... My rating is based on my experience during my visit and not the food. Not sure if I will give the food a shot anytime soon.

Food was okay. Reminded me too much of those former "late night food, after the club, drunken" nights in college. But...their horchata is really good.

  • Herman H.

Good food. Went there today and tried their taco dinner. The helpings of meat were plentiful and the fixings and side of beans and rice were fresh. I would say stop in and give them a try.

First time here tonight. We like to support the neighborhood businesses. I ordered chicken burrito dinner was good, food came out quick, staff friendly. Burrito was a little salty. My husband ordered the pastor burrito which was seasoned differently than he is used to. We would try this place again, just would order something different.

  • Allen G.

This is my go to taco joint. I live very close and nothing in the area comes close to their tacos(I order my tacos with cilantro and onion). The El Pastor is very good, the steak is comparable to any of the top Chicago steak taco joints, and the chicken is very good as well. My wife and also love their salsas they give you when you order take out. If we don't use them all on our tacos, we use them on other homemade meals I have no complaints and do recommend El Coyote to anyone.

We always order from this place for delivery and they are always on time and the food is just right. Might be a bit price but worth the wait. Their Horchata is good.

I will defiantly be coming back here. The food is fresh and savory. You should never be allowed to leave without having their Horchata. Holy.

Food is good, fresh, and priced decently! The flavor of a corner taco stand in a restaurant! They offer carry out, dine in, or delivery. Workers are always so nice and friendly. The best meat I have had there has been the pork! Great food, NEVER had a bad meal from here!

With its cool name and unassuming building, we swerved into here after a night at the pool hall. Coincidentally, my wife kicked my arse at said pool hall. But hey, she used to be on a league, so cut me some slack! We were craving just a small snack of sorts, and I wanted to give this place a try after reading the reviews. Homemade 'mesican' food?! Yesplz. I decided on getting some menudo, partially because I find the expression on the faces of the workers when I order it thoroughly amusing. If you could translate it into words, I would summarize it as something like "Who is this giant white boy ordering this thing in spanish?!" And I also ordered it because I do enjoy it on occasion! The wife, lavishing in her victory over me in billiards, decided on a chille relleno taco and a 'kaysadilla!" The report! The wifey enjoyed her stuff, but said it was slightly below par on the places we usually go to. The chille relleno was mucho greasy in comparison to some other places she gets it. I liked the menudo, and the usual condoments you get with it (onion, cilantro, lime, and even a dried chile.) The corn tortillas were starchy and stale..I kind've wished at this point that they could pound some mesa and make some homemade ones! Overall, twas tasty indeed. They have a pretty small menu, but they do offer homemade tamales and cart-style elote! I suggest you give it a go for something a tad different!

Just decided to check this place out because of the reviews...I must say the food is awesome!!! I can't tell u how many times I've pasted this place!!!! I'm glad I decided to give it a try and now it will be my spot because I love love Mexican food!!!!! I had Chicken Tacos and my daughter had a Chicken Burrito and the corn...we also had Horchatas to wash it all down. The food was so good that we went back the next day!! They also deliver in the area :)!!!!

I was craving tacos and searched Yelp to find something close to me. I got 3 chicken tacos to go, and they were very good! They were made to order. The chicken was flavorful and delicious, and the salsas they have are fresh and yummy. It is a family owned business, and the couple who runs it are exceedingly pleasant and welcoming. The prices are reasonable and won't strain your wallet. Please support this wonderful local business!

If they served Margaritas, this would be the only Mexican restaurant I'd ever go to. The service is friendly and fast, the food is delicious and inexpensive. The best thing about El Coyote is the Pico de Gallo; it's the best Pico I've ever had and you can have as much as you want at their salsa bar. Every other place is stingy with their salsa, but at El Coyote you can actually get a couple servings of vegetables with your meal just by going to the salsa bar. El Coyote has healthy choices, is fast, open late, delicious, inexpensive, and just about perfect.

  • Nikki M.

Everything is homemade, everything is delicious. The people are nice, the food is priced right and cooked right, and it's really tasty! I've been coming here for ~9 years now, so here's what to order: Highlights: -Horchata (so good here, and homemade!) -Killer salsa bar selection for dine-in customers (between 6-8 options to choose from) -Tamales (again, homemade of course); the chicken one with spicy ends I cannot get enough of! I must warn you though, they sell out quick a lot of days so get them while you can! -Their one steak burrito is piled high with at least an entire avocado. It's huge. -Cheese. I am a cheese FIEND, so their enchiladas, quesadilla dinners, & queso fundido hit the spot. -Open REALLY late (3-4am?). Never go to burrito station again! ;) For this kind of greasy Mexican deliciousness, it gets 5 stars. Just don't be expecting gourmet or anything.

Good spot...reasonably priced and the owners are great people!!! Super late hours, which is good for those late-night munchies! Husband was in love with the homemade tamales and I sooo enjoyed the Tres Leches cake that was also homemade!!! Will be a Pulaski Rd. stop for sure!!!

We've been coming here for years! Excellent, fresh made Mexican food at decent prices. They offer delivery which is great on rainy days. Their late hours make it easy to get a late night snack on your way home that is actually made of real ingredients. The staff is always friendly and service has never been poor. We've tried other Mexican places in the area and nothing came close in comparison to the value you get from El Coyote!

This is the best place in Alsip and the area for Mexican food. Im a big fan of steak tacos and nachos and out of all the Mexican spots around Alsip this place has THE BESTTTTT STEAK!!! No fat what so ever. I've tried Taco King and they sucked been there twice and WILL NEVER be back there! Also been to Las Fuentes Restaurant and there steak had fat on all 3 of my taco dinner. El Coyote is the best and there red hot sauce is amazing like no other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 5 stars all around. also try ordering there tacos hard shell there great as well. Ive been going there since they opened and not a bad experience yet and Ive been there plenty of times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lindsay R.

The family ordered tacos and a burrito, all of which were soggy and bland. Refried beans were soupy. I couldn't take more than 2 bites of my food because it was so gross. Taco burrito king down the street is a million times better.

  • Andrew S.

Not bad but not the best. The place was empty I had lunch special 2 tacos, rice and beans. Food was ok. The fresh salsa was good and hot, chips were so so. Not a bad place for a quick lunch.

decent late night stop if you're feeling like mexican food, but don't want to shell out the extra couple of bucks at el gallo. i like the food here, although at times the seasoning of the food can be a bit inconsistent. i've been going here for awhile now, ever since it took the place of taco bell. it's not my absolute favorite but it does the job. the people behind the counter are super nice too.. and hey who can complain about free chips and salsa?

    (3)
  • Keena T.

Pretty decent Mexican food for the price. It's built in an old Taco Bell, which turned me off at first because I could remember the childhood cringes as my mother drove down Pulaski. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night. Elote is delicious, and they make a good pozole. The chicken and mole was a little bland. Tacos are nice and hardy and come with a decent amount of meat, though little cheese. They also made a good hamburger if you've dragged along a tacophobic friend. In addition there is some non-meat choices for lent or your vegetarian friends. They offer a taco pack if your ordering for more than yourself. There's the small which is about ten and comes with 6 tacos, rice, beans, salsa ( rojo, verde, and pico de gallo), and chips. There's also the $20 pack with 12 tacos. The best part is that it's open till around 1 or 2am depending on the day. Which is great for late night cravings, or if you're getting off work after 10pm and aren't in the mood for Burger King or McDonalds. Seating is limited because it is in an old Taco Bell. For beverages they offer a soda fountain with Pepsi products, Limonada, horchata, and bottled soda (Jarritos and Pepsi). Granted, it's not the best- but if your in the area it's worth the money. Especially if you're hanging out at Bourban Street.

El Coyote is one word BLAND. You have to drown their food in hot sauce just to get some sort of flavor. The guacamole is good but anything other than that and the chips and salsa are a waste of time. They do give you alot of food. Alot of BLAND food. I had more leftover than I ate. It's in my neighborhood so I was a bit dissapointed.

this place is actually not bad. it is low key, semi dive of a place. but they are cheap. i would usually go to pepes if i had a coupon to satisfy my cheap taco craving, but i think i will go here from now on, they are closer, A LOT cheaper '' like 16 bucks for two people including drinks) and they are slightly better. they are not the best place but i would go here when i want mexican food on the cheap or an inexpensive evening out with my dan man :)

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
