Martini’s on Main Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Oh my, where do I begin! I ordered the special Prime Rib medium rare. It arrived well done so I sent it back. I waited 15 minutes or more for the replacement arrived. It was pinker but certainly not medium rare. The most shocking part about this entree was that it was cold inside. Not room temperature but cold. My feeling is this came out of the refrigerator and cooked on their flat grill. They wanted $24.00 for this. Are you kidding me! I then ordered an appetizer in place of the entree. I selected mussels. There were at least 4 mussels that never opened. We all know you do not eat unopened mussels and should never have been served. I asked the server for an extra plate so I could eat some of my friends food while I waited for my food. It never came. The manager knew of my returns but didn't bother do come over to our table. We eat out every weekend but this will never be on the list.

Went there the other day and brought two out of town guests with me. Service was great and my guests loved their dinners. No one hurried us as we visited and chatted and ate. Great atmosphere and great food! We all tried something different & each plate was beautifully and deliciously presented. See you soon.

Went there with the wife for dinner. Sat down and waitress did not come back for at least 30 minutes. Would not make eye contact just kept ignoring us. When she did come back she said "I'm not going to lie. I just forgot about you." It happens so we brushed it off and ordered a drink. Fifteen minutes later she came back with drinks and took our order. By this point we were starving and asked if she could bring some bread. Really felt like leaving but were invested at that point. We sat for another 15 minutes waiting for bread before she brought it over. She gave us the bread and then went into Kitchen and brought out meals. What the heck! At this point we were frustrated and let her know it. She responded by saying "the owner was cooking and that's just the way it was" SO??? I had Chilean sea bass special with berry and honey glaze and steamed vegetable medley. Fish was undercooked to the point of almost still being translucent looking. I picked at least 10 bones out of it. Vegetables were obviously from a bag in the freezer. The carrots were so old they were whitish and had big splits. The glaze was good but nothing that couldn't be made by mixing frozen blueberries with some honey. My wife had Salmon with same nasty vegetables. Her meal was just okay. We were very disappointed and really wanted it to work out. Things sometimes go wrong and a good server can make a big difference. Ours could have cared less and just seemed totally indifferent. We won't be going back. Walk down the block and go to Cuccina Bella instead.

Well as we have become regulars I'm just learning that this place just doesn't care if they get your order right or wrong. Went here this past weekend and both my wife's steak and mine was over cooked (does the chef have clue what medium rare is?). Well again our waiter who did not bring us our food came by about 10 mins later, which by then we just were eating what was served and when we show him the steaks and he agrees they are way over cooked he goes back to the kitchen comes back and offers us a free desert. So let's get the restaurants basic premise down here pay $75 bucks for over cooked meat and we'll throw in a free desert. No more I'm done!!

This place is a favorite of mine whenever I go visit my family in Algonquin. My Aunt, Uncle and cousins are regulars. Every time we are able to visit, we're always welcomed warmly--whether it's been days or months since we last came in. Let me break it down for you: The food is delicious, but the cocktails are out of this world. I cannot tell you how many times I've spent money on a drink at some other bar and gotten maybe a splash of alcohol and basically a glass full of mixer. Klara, the bartender here, doesn't mess around. You will get your drink the way she would want to drink it. Equal if not generous portions. And another thing, if you're going to a bar in the area in the middle of winter, the last thing you may think about getting is a Mai Tai. ALWAYS GET THE MAI TAI. It is definitely one of the best drinks I've ever had in my life. Visit Martini's on Thursdays when they're on special. I'm a big fan of the appetizers there as well. The steak skewers, the stuffed mushrooms, the steamed mussels are all a favorite. As for entrees the rack of lamb is also delicious. Great place, always a favorite. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Awesome! Steak was the Most Tender Ever. Didn't need a knife to cut it. Spicy shrimp over Linguini was DELICIOUS really. Our apps Bruschetta and Ceviche was just amazing! We made a 7:00 reservation on a Saturday night. Walked in at 7:00 and were seated right away. Although service was slow I enjoyed it since it gave my husband and I talk time. The place is small and not child friendly. Again, we were on a date so this was all great for us. Absolutely loved our time here :)

I've not been here for the food, just for the drinks. Those are great though, the martinis especially. Very good. Pricey, but worth it when you get a perfectly mixed martini. Would like to be back for the food sometime. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Really enjoy this place.

So glad we finally tried it. Enjoyed everything from salad (Grandma Alice's) and soup (french onion)...to the amazing Rumchata panna cotta. Service was great as well. Looking forward to next time!! Really happy to add this to our short short list of great places in the area.

I absolutely love love love this place. Greg and Klara are a superb host and hostess in every way. The 2 of them along with their outstanding staff are hospitable and make you feel right at home in their establishment. Klara is a whiz behind the bar, she makes sure your glass is full, and keeps the conversation rolling with her witty remarks and fun conversation. Greg welcomes you with a big smile and assures you feel welcome and that you enjoy your time. I have had dinner and drinks on many occasions and I have never been let down. From burgers, to steaks, to fish, to lamb they have something for everyone. The food is prepared perfectly exactly the way you like it and presented beautifully. From appetizer to dessert you won't be disappointed. So with exceptional service and delicious food, why haven't you stopped in yet? It is a can't miss!

Fabulous! From the service to the food this was the best dining experience I've had in a while. Our server was polite and knowledgeable. And the food... Out of this world! Everything was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The scallops just melted in my mouth. It was also nice to see the chef come out of the kitchen and check on a few tables, really shows that everyone there is working to provide the customer with the best experience. I can't wait to go back!!

I grew up in Algonquin, but after living in the city for the past few years, I've come to believe the stereotype that city = good restaurants, suburbs = chains. That is absolutely not the case for Martini's on Main. When my parents wanted to take me out to a birthday dinner in Algonquin, my dad promised he found a little place he thought I'd like. He was right! The atmosphere in this cute little downtown Algonquin location made me feel a million miles away from Randall Road. The food was excellent (and the portions were large!) The service was great as well. Our server was professional, while still taking the time to be friendly and personable. And, I loved that the owner came around to talk to us, too. I know this location has had at least two previous owners in the past, but I really hope Martini's on Main gets enough business to stay there for a long time.

A very nice place to get away for a night and feel like you're in the city. It's pricey, but they have a large selection of yummy martini's to choose from. Our favorite dish is the mussels with Portuguese sausage... so good! We order it every time. Portions are plentiful, staff is friendly.

Too good to be true? Not this time. After reading some of the 5 star Yelp reviews, I thought maybe the owner got his family and friends to write some great reviews. If he did they were right on. If you don't live in McHenry County, you may not know it is almost impossible to find many great dining experiences. That is what makes Martini's a truly great find. We were greeted by the customer-friendly owner who engaged with every table. Our waitress, Lindsey, was personable, knowlegdable and offered a professional attentiveness not found in many busy establishments. My dijon encrusted rack of lamb was served medium-rare as I ordered it. The grilled asparagus that came as a side was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the garlic mashed potatoes were also quite tasty. My wife's filet was tender and also cooked to perfection, with some out-of-this world roasted potatoes included as a side. Great steaks are rare in this part of the world. This was one of them. This restaurant is one small room and was very crowded. My only negative here was the noise level. You could carry on a conversation, but I would like a bit more peace and quiet with my meal. This was a Saturday night at peak time so this was to be expected. I might try a weekday evening next time. If you live anywhere in the area restaurant should definately be a part of your dining agenda

Martini's is certainly a nice find in McHenry county. The good was very good and creative. A good assortment of food is available. Martini selection was large enough and the drinks were well prepared. Pricing is high though and personally a different high end restaurant down the street is my prefference. If you want great drinks though Martini's is the place.

After reading previous reviews we visited Martini's. WOW! What a disappointment! The service was horrible, the food average and the drinks better than some, but at the prices charged you would think you were at a Ruth's Chris or Morton's, and you are NOT. We paid $100 BEFORE tip for two drinks, two salads and two entrees, and we had to ask for bread and beg for butter to go along with the bread. The server didn't even bring plates for the bread! Who does that, I am supposed to put my bread on the paper tablecloth when I am not eating??? The salads were small and our steaks were NOT done to request. I asked for a medium-rare and got well. My husband asked for a medium and got rare. The server stopped by our table about 6 times - to ask what we wanted to drink, to bring our drinks and take our order, to bring our salads, then to bring the bread we asked for, then to bring our entrees and last to bring out check. Maybe it was an off night, or maybe some people are easily impressed in Algonquin. I'll take my business elsewhere and get what I pay for.

My husband and I picked Martini's on Main as our Valentines Day destination based on other Yelp reviews. And it did NOT disappoint! Service was excellent considering every seat in the house was filled. The pear martinis are freaking AWESOME because they don't taste sweet and syrupy--they taste like vodka and real pears like they should. While bruschetta is typically a safe and kind of boring appetizer, they really punched it up just right. I had the grilled salmon with fruit (pineapple) salsa and it was PERFECT. The sides were so good I clean plate clubbed it. My husband had the rib eye topped with caramelized onions and he was impressed with the quality of the meat. One of the owners, Greg, was super friendly and checked on us throughout dinner. Never got to meet the lady owner because she was cranking out those bad ass martinis like crazy. We've decided this is our favorite restaurant in our area and we'll totally be back.

Been here many times, and I am very upset. I ordered a burger and it was still in raw ground meat form. I took a few bites into it when I realized this. When I complained about it, they dismantled my entire burger including the bun lettuce tomatoes etc! Then placed it back on my plate upside down. Very SLOPPY! The drinks contain virtually no alcohol, needless to say I will not be going back especially with their high prices.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here last night. We made a reservation for an early time so we could go somewhere to watch the Hawks game so even though we had reservations we were able to be seated early before the dinner rush started. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We both had the Filet Trio. Steaks were cooked to our specifications, medium rare and tasted excellent. The trio gives you a bit more meat than the other filet on the menu and you comes with a bernaise on one, garlic/parmesan crust on the other and blue cheese crust on the third. Grilled asparagus was very good and the loaded baked potato was awesome...couldn't finish it. I had a Pear Martini, Strawberry Delight Martini and my wife had the Raspberry Lemon Drop martini. All were excellent, the strawberry was my favorite as it had a strawberry purée in it. Prices were a little high but expected for this type of experience. Appreciated that the atmosphere and service was friendly and not stuffy as some places could be.

This review is for service and drinks only (we didn't eat here). I was pretty bummed this place turned out to be a disappointment after being excited to give it a try. My boyfriend and I decided to walk down from Cucina Bella for an after dinner drink. When we walked in there was no one to greet us, sign, or hostess station to indicate we should wait to be seated so we were sort of standing/wandering awkwardly around trying to figure out if you just sit or what; eventually hostess came back to seat us. Server seemed to be newer and not have a good grasp of the menu. My boyfriend ordered a vesper and he hadn't heard of it (ummm, classic James Bond martini), for a martini bar server you should know that; so after some confusion we thought it'd been worked out. When it arrived (to be served "up") it had many large chunks of ice floating around, not ok for martini! Also, my boyfriend said it didn't taste like it should. I ordered the grasshopper, and although I knew it had ice cream, when it arrived it was so thick I could hardly drink it, and it wasn't served with a spoon or anything; also it tasted like I was drinking a mint extract shaved ice, so I sent it back. Got the raspberry chocolate martini instead which was ok, nothing special, and there was so much syrup garnish on the inside of the glass that it just got so syrupy/sweet I really didn't enjoy it. Next time I would stay at Cucina Bella for drinks instead as I really wasn't impressed by this place!

After living out West for 9 years I find it hard to find good food. This place has it going on. I love when I taste food at a restaurant and you can taste the ingredients in it. From the appetizer to the steak sandwich this place was great. The server new the menu and all special very well to the point I was like, "holy sh-t thats a lot to remember". Desert was amazing as well. I only eat at Duke's Alehouse in Crystal Lake mostly and this place has my vote as well now. Thanks MOM!! (AKA Martini's on Main Brent

It was our first and last visit to this restaurant. The steak was very fatty, the vegetables, including the potatoes, were very salty and the shrimp which doubled the price of my salad was not prepared well! The food was definitely not worth the cost! We tried calling for reservations twice the night before we were going and the first time someone answered but put the phone down to ask about reservations and never came back. The second call went to voicemail. When we arrived the next evening we were asked if we had reservations. We said no and explained our attempts to call. They almost didn't give us a table and all of the tables were empty except for one. There are too many other quality restaurants around to waste our time and money at Martinis on Main.

After reading some other reviews you people are crazy for giving 1 or 2 stars because of service and drinks. Look people this is my favorite chef in all of illinois and I have never been disappointed. After the first few times being there I dont even look at the menu any more I just say I will have the special. Everytime I eat there I shake that chefs hand because he is the best. Not to mention if you have been there as much as I have and it is not on the menu he can still make it if you ask. Now that is service. But yes drinks are weak and over priced. So I just stick to the best food.

I have been here several times mostly because of the convenient location and the burgers (which used to be pretty tasty). I will not be going there anymore for several reasons. First, the owner who also bartends is often rude to customers. She told me that I had awful taste in wine one evening. What happened to the customer always be right? Also - they often close earlier than their stated hours. This has happened to us several times. Despite being closed, however, there are often people at the bar who are friends with the owners. This isn't a serious business. Save your money and go elsewhere. If you are looking for a good Martini - go next door to Cucina Bella or make the drive to the Saddle Room.

Food was delicious. But I wished we had gone somewhere else for Valentine's Day. Hubby and I finally got a night out with no kids and really enjoying time alone and having adult conversation. We get there and our "assigned seat" is the table right in front of the door. So the entire time I'm freezing. Couldn't take my coat off because of fear of a getting sick and b just plain uncomfortness. Then we finish our meal decide to skip on dessert but have another glass of wine and waiter comes up to me to ask if we're done because he needs to know when we're leaving as the next party has arrived to take our seat, but no rush. Besides being rude to tell a customer that I was annoyed and now felt unwelcomed. So we left and went to have another drink somewhere else. Sad to say this experience has made me decide not to come back. Next time we're out there's a nice similar restaurant down the street. Well go there instead. Too bad because the food is good.

Very cute place, would be a great date night. They have great martinis .. Tried the choc raspberry , strawberry delight, French, and grasshopper , they were all so good. Its easy to screw up a martini... Ive had my share lol but they have a bartender who knows what they are doing. We got a free appetizer from yelp thank you yelp !! We tried the artichoke and cheese fondue ... WOW AND YUM comes to mind you get a good size bowl of it with toasted bread. We didnt eat dinner there but the plates that were coming out were BIG so it looks like you get your moneys worth. I felt underdressed , its not a jeans and hoodie place more like nice jeans, sweater , and boots type of place! I will definitely be visiting again!

Had New Years plans that were ruined by the rude owner. They couldn't even accommodate us with enough chairs for our reservation and owner kept insisting it was our fault. Also, they upped the prices on their menu considerably to gouge their customers on New Years ($60-75 steaks!). Cute place, I'd spend a lot of time here if they could solve their customer service problems. Go down the street to Cucina Bella instead.

Wait, wait, wait.... People are giving this less than 4 stars?! I'm shocked. My husband and I have come here several times and had nothing less than 5 stars from top to bottom. The food is amazing--and I say this as someone who goes out to eat almost every night. The daily soups are to die for. Every combination is unique and out of this world. The stuffed filet... Don't even get me started on how great this is. We have eaten at Chicago prime, Ruth's Chris and Morton's and nothing compares to the steak at MOM. Tonight I had the Lamb special--so great! And my husband had the filet and lobster special. As a girl who grew up on the East Coast I know lobster, and whatever that seasoning on top was it was perfect and nothing I've had before. The filet was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The risotto side was great, as were the mashed potatoes. My husband also got the loaded baked potato... I never knew such giant potatoes existed! He couldn't even finish it it was so good. Now onto the cocktails. YUM! I had the orange Julius martini, strawberry delight martini and a chocolate martini as dessert. Every drink was great. My husband had the sweet tart cocktail (made with patron silver) he loved it. As a dessert cocktail he had the grasshopper martini, also delicious. Service was good, despite how busy they were. I wish I had gotten his name so I could mention him in this review :-/ he stayed on top of our table and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We will continue to come back again and again. As for those complaining about the price, you get what you pay for. If you're looking for a unique delicious meal, please go to Martinis on Main.

If I were just rating the food I would have given a 4 star. However the service was SO poor it ruined our dinner. Went Friday before Valentine's Day and it was obvious they could NOT handle a full restaurant. Too bad because the food was good but when you arrive at 630p and don't leave until 915p there is a huge problem.

We had date night here last Saturday, walked in without a reservation, no table for us. Good for them, place was packed. Sat at the bar with my hubby and waited for bartender to take our drink orders. She was obviously very busy and didn't greet us right away - but I get it. Once she was ready to take care of us she was "on". Martini's were fabulous - I had 2 creamy ones - Cafetini and Caramel something lovely. They were $12-$14 each which is high for me, but it was date night and they were super tasty. Passed on getting a meal since we didn't have a table, but was happy to drink my calories that night. Enjoyed them a lot. Opted for a steak skewer appetizer and the horseradish and worscheshire sauces they came with were GREAT. All in all we enjoyed very much and will be back again with a reservation. :)

Was just ok. I think it depends on what you order because the table next to us seemed in love. Our meal, however, was just not so good. Pork was tough, appetizer was overly greasy. We had high hopes but were not impressed enough for the price. They were also weird about the yelp coupon. Only one appetizer was cheap enough to order and the discount could not be applied toward a more expensive appetizer so beware.

We made reservations a week out and got a baby sitter for our two kids in hopes of a much needed night out and romantic dinner. The good: the chef and his food. The BAD: the treatment as guests. Ordered martinis, appetizers, and steaks. The server really took forever to take care of our table. Here is where it gets even worse and insulting. As we go to order dessert and a martini to end the evening, the server tells us he needs our table and gives us our bill to pay We have only read about this kind of treatment but never experienced it in all of our lives until we came here. Disappointing and unacceptable. Not sure if I mentioned the manager was insisting on calling us the next day when she was less busy and never did. Given the opportunity to make this better, the manager did nothing and just compared our spending and dining experience as just any other night and even asked us what other restaurants we have been to like theirs .... REALLY??? An experience like no other - how can you charge that much and treat people like this? If you are in hopes of a nice evening here like we were, I am sorry you are reading this story.

Having been here several times before we figured getting a table at 9 pm Saturday for a couple of nightcaps would not be a problem. WRONG. With 2 open tables we were told that they would not seat us at a table since the bar was full. Went else where. Won't be back.

We had high hopes.... Service was good, but food missed the mark. We shared 2 appetizers and were disappointed with both. The southwest pork chop was pretty good, except for having to send it back to finish cooking. Overall, it is a nice local place that just isn't worth writing home about or taking the trip to come back.

Went on a date night. We sat outside as it was a lovely night. Edgar was our waiter - charming and efficient. They had Hendrick's Gin (best evar!) and the martinis were very well made so things started off nicely. Had an artichoke and cheese ap and it was great. Left shortly thereafter to catch a movie. Menu looked good and we look forward to returning.

Just had our New Years Eve dinner here. I had the Surf & Turf and my fiancé had the filet. It was AMAZING!!!! We've been here a number of times, and we are always impressed. The service is top notch and the food is unbeatable!!!! Hats off to the chef!!! The best around! We will be returning soon!

OH NO!!!!! I really wanted this place to be awesome! I did. There was nothing wrong with our service. Everyone working there was great. Very welcoming. But there was nothing special about our food. The only thing we really enjoyed were the stuffed mushrooms. They were very good. I'll give them that. But everything else that we ate was not very special.....I'm a little disappointed. I'm especially disappointed with our dessert. The waitress recommended it. It was just OK. I can't even remember what it was....all I remember is some sort of chocolate cheese cake and the waitress saying there were crispy pieces of bacon crumbled on top. we thought that sounded interesting so we got it. The bacon on top was the consistency of beef jerky..............granted, I like beef jerky, but that's not what "crispy bacon" should be like. haha The place is just too small.....It was so cramped in there. And there needs to be something done about the tacky mesh over the windows.......I will say that it was a very clean establishment though. all in all, service A+.....The food and space? I wont even grade it......maybe our experience isn't the normal one at this place. But, I'm afraid we just wont be back again.

Great food and quaint atmosphere creates a great dining experience. I love the quality of food (especially the steaks and random weekly ethnic special like Czech and polish dishes during the week), which is a little pricey but the portions make the price reasonable. They can get busy on weekends so make a reservation. Management is small and family ran, which makes for a better restaurant with superior food. Stop in. I recommend it.

I really like the lemondrop martini here. Sometimes lemondrops are too strong on the vodka or too strong on the lemon but these have been made really well both times I have been there. We tried some appetizers this last time and they were really good too. The bruschetta and the shrimp in garlic sauce were fantastic. The bruschetta had balsamic vinegar and it really added a nice tang to it! I have also tried the raspberry lemondrop and it was good as well. A cute atmosphere inside pretty small and intimate and good service too.

I recently enjoyed a great "all inclusive" NYE party at Martinis On Main. Absolutely no detail was left out including the champagne toast at midnight, noisemakers, hats and many other thoughtful items making it a fantastic experience. Let me say one thing about the food at Martinis on Main.... it is outstanding. Easily the equal of the BEST gourmet places anywhere in North America. The dishes had great visual appeal and taste and freshness were equally top notch. My biggest pleasure was the heavenly desserts that were included with our meal. I can't remember the last time that I enjoyed a dessert so much. The desserts certainly were a memorable topper for a great evening. Klara and Greg are wonderful hosts and their staff is friendly and efficient. Everyone in our party commented on the exceptional service that we were given. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening and will certainly go back again to sample other items on their menu.

Walked in at 930... On a beautiful night outside so we asked to be seated outside... The hostess didn't seem with it at all... We asked for a seat for 2, asked to go outside and they said no problem. Then they say us, and got out menus then the hostess came back out as asked us to move back inside if we didn't mind... Why the hell would you seat us outside if you were reserving the 4 open tables outside for a party.. Then we asked if we could just sit outside and have a drink till they showed up... And the bartender literally said... Absolutely not. So! We sat at the bar had drinks then were told we could not order food!!!! Because there was a big party (that wasn't here yet) on the way!!! What a joke. Not coming back here... Cucina Bella is right down the road with better martinis and MUCH better service. Wish I could give no stars.

We decided to give this place a try despite the alternating negative and positive reviews, in part because we have an Amazon coupon. Did someone force that on them, because they sure are rude about it? My wife called to make a reservation, found out they are gouging people with a special Valentine's menu all weekend long (since when did Valentines expand to a three day holiday unless you're selling cars or mattresses) so we cannot use the voucher, and on top of that the guy was rude and disinterested before he even found out about the voucher. They plan on being crowded next weekend so he can't be bothered to check on a reservation? Wake up, you're a rat hole in Algonquin, not downtown, and I've heard Cucina Bella is better anyway. If they don't like people using the vouchers, why offer them? There are too many restaurants in the area to put up with rude people. Montarra has always been great, and it is worth it to let the 15 bucks on the voucher go and take my wife to Montarra for good food and pleasant service.

We have been to this restaurant several times now and have never been disappointed. We have even brought 4 different couples here and they end up just as impressed as us. The food is always prepared perfectly and the taste is fantastic. The atmosphere is quaint without being pretentious, and the staff are very accommodating. If it is a date night with your significant other or entertaining a client, this is the place to go.

My mom and I went to use an Amazon Local Voucher and were sad to see the restaurant was closed. I called the owner and a week later got a call back saying she would honor our expired voucher, as the day we went was the last day, if we used it soon. A month later we went to use it and were shocked when the owner came to our table and said she would not honor it. She was so rude, got in a heated argument as we sat in her restaurant, and raised her voice with other customers sitting around. I could not believe someone would act that way with potential customers. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone for this reason alone. Didn't even get to taste the food but the customer service was so horrendous I would never step foot back in Martini's on Main.

I LOVE MARTINIS ON MAIN! I just love the idea of going out for martinis, truth be told I wish I LIKED hard liquor more... but this place is winning me over with every cocktail I have there. Most recently, I had the Cafetini which was vodka, cream, and a coffee liquer (can't remember) and it was so delicious and creamy with a floating coffee bean, so chic! I also tried the fresh watermelon martini which was VERY refreshing! The watermelon flavor really came through and it wasn't so strong that you couldn't enjoy the flavors without getting dominated by alcohol. I hate that. I'd rather just do a shot of tequila with salt and lime.. it atleast gets the alcohol out of your mouth quicker. But Martinis on Main does a great job of balancing flavor and booze and in a great atmosphere. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up! (name that movie)

On my first visit, the NY strip was fantastic. My most recent visit included a steak that was so-so. However, the atmosphere is great and the martinis are delicious. I recommend the pear martini for those that don't want anything too sweet. This is a favorite for special occasions!

This is a great local restaurant. This was my 3rd time eating here and I've never been disappointed. Great service, food and atmosphere. Klara takes great pride in her establishment and it shows.

A Friday night. Moderately busy. My wife and I were sat at a wobbly table pushed seatback to seatback with a neighboring table in an uncomfortable lane between the bar and a wall of booths. Our waitress and her icy temperament with a big toothy smile slapped on it asked us twice if we wanted appetizers, which worked great, because we did cave the second time she asked us. Bland bruschetta on freezer burned bread. Asked for the prime rib on on the menu, a $26 item, but was urged by the waitress to order the prime rib special instead- a $65 item- with no mention of the big cost difference. I went with the steak on the menu after inquiring myself about the special's cost, to her clear disappointment. The chef was busy buddying around with familiar faces while tasteless food that's been sitting in the fridge too long was shelled out of the kitchen. The steak was a cheap cut served with caramelized onions. For dessert I ordered the flourless chocolate cake and my wife almost killed me because at this point our dinner had turned into us discussing how bad this restaurant sucks and little else. Hard to not when every plate or encounter with the waitress reminds you of it. I thought the cake was good on first bite but that's because I didn't know flourless chocolate cake was supposed to be smooth and not gritty. At least they were individually wrapped, my wife said- as the cellophane creases were clear on its edges. At this point she was picturing open containers sitting in the fridge and was honestly relieved to see this. That didn't stop the taste of fridge from passing through. Severely overpriced place for people seeking an expensive restaurant to blow their money. You found it. The only really good food in the area is actually affordable. You have to go elsewhere to find where expensive meets true quality.

I really wanted to love this place. Here is the good and the bad: No airconditioning. It was stifling in the dining room. We had a reservation but many tables open. We just had to wait for a server to seat us, then to bring us menus - I mean noticable wait - ten minutues for each and they weren't busy at the time. Ordered the 5.00 Mai Tai special and a bruschetta app. Two things on the app: I can see why people order the fondue or the spicy shrimp...huge lag time both for the app and between the app the entree and we order both at the same time. The fondue seemed popular. We were told by other patrons because it takes longer to eat! The bruschetta itself? No garlic, no basil...but lots or red onion. Not saying it wasn't kind of tasty but it was not what I ordered, expected or wanted. However I let that go - did not send it back - it took 25 minutes to get! The entree? I had the seafood risotto - very tasty, lots of seafood. Hubby ordered the porter house. Sides were a decent size with his steak and good tasting. Steak done exactly as ordered. I asked for a bit of parm and a piece of bread. Was about half way through the meal when I finally got those. Then it took forever to get the bill. I mean we weren't in a rush but we could hear crickets in the lag time lol lol We eat at Tracks at Cary and huge waits don't bother us but this was an upscale place we did expect a modicum of service. Our server was very nice though. We used a Groupon which barely made a dent in our bill - well this is what really irked me and was the final straw for the extra low rating (I NEVER rate this low - I can always find something good in every restaurant) The server told us that we couldn't get the special price on the MaiTai's because of the Groupon. She charged us full price. They were so full of ice they were not worth 8.00 each. It does not say anywhere on the Groupon or the menu that they wouldn't honor the special. The whole point we use Groupon for is to try new restaurants and not feel bad if it turns out to be a bust. That Groupon cost us more money than it was worth. My hubby was thrilled they didn't charge us for the bread or the parm.. Would I go back? Hmmm not real certain. The food was good but I don't think the meal was worth the turtle like service and 100.00 plus price tag.

Went early last Friday and the place was nice and quiet the service was very good. We had specials of the night starting with corned beef sliders, tasty fresh made corned beef with just enough tangy sauerkraut and a little sweetness from a touch of thousand island on a slightly toasted bun. For my main course I chose the rib eye with a Jameson steak sauce which came with Irish potato cakes and the best asparagus I ever had. The steak was good and cooked perfectlythr sauce was also good but they put a lot of it on top of the steak, the potato cakes were very interesting I kinda liked them but my wife really liked them. The wife had a Guinness braised pot roast served over a mound of mashed potatoes it was very good also.

I've driven by this place several times coming down route 31 and it always looked packed inside so I finally decided to try it. It was a spur of the moment decision on a Friday night so we didn't have much hope about getting a table right away as we had not made a reservation. I called ahead to see what the wait was. While I was talking to someone on the phone, she said a table had just paid their check and was leaving. We were only a couple miles away and she offered to hold the table for us! Great service and we hadn't even walked into the restaurant yet. Nice atmosphere inside, great place to take a date as many of their tables are set up for two people. I tried a couple of their specialty drinks throughout the dinner. Started with the Pear Martini and it was delicious. They had a drink called the Hurricane which was an excellent combination of rums and mixes. Finished off the dinner with a Kettle One Martini and some bleu cheese olives, also great. The bartender was definitely on her game that night! My date had a couple other martinis including their Pink Panther drink and couldn't stop raving about it. When we decided to eat, we started with the Stuffed Portabello Mushroom appetizer. What a great little creation! It was stuffed with ground beef and marinara sauce and was a perfect dish while we waited for our entrees to come! What made it even better was that it was free just for mentioning "Yelp"! They have several steak and seafood dishes to choose from and they all sounded amazing. I ended up going with the Seafood Risotto which was one of their specials of the night and it wasn't on their normal menu. A fantastic combination of the risotto with shrimp, mussels, scallops, and grilled salmon mixed in throughout. It was a pretty big portion too, I'll be having the rest for dinner tonight. My date got the Martini Filet Mignon and was very impressed. The steak was cooked exactly as she ordered and it came with two sides. She got the garlic mashed potatoes and the sauteed mushrooms and says that they were excellent complements to the meat. All in all, a wonderful dinner and can't wait to go back and try some more of their dishes. I knocked off one star only because the menu is a bit overpriced but not by much as you are getting a great quality meal. So, just go into the meal understanding that you're going to spend some bucks and you won't be disappointed!

Wow I feel like the reviews here took me in the wrong direction. First, for a little restaurant in Algonquin they try to pull off big city pricing. I ordered a bacon burger medium and that thing was like a hockey puck. My wife ordered some chicken pineapple kabob and the sauce was way too sweet. I also had a craving for risotto and now I know why chef Ramsey on hells kitchen is always throwing it around. This risotto was the worst. It actually reminded me if rice that comes in a hungry man frozen dinner. You know the one with the unidentifiable veggies. Finally the bar- loud and obnoxious. Just saying. Good luck to you if you read this and still go.

WOW! and I mean WOW! We went there because of YELP'S help... ty Yelpers. We were going to go to a couple of other places but 1 was closed between lunch and dinner and the other we were afraid of going to. So at 4pm we found this Gem!! Small but HUGE on everything else. Let's start with the appetizer. The Ceviche isn't sour like most, only a hint of lime and it was slightly creamy with avacado, very nice. After looking over the menu, It's doesn't appear to have a large variety but upon further review you get 3 ways each main dish is prepared. Very ergonomic and user friendly. We ordered the grilled salmon and the lamb. Our dinners were very well prepared. Very fresh and tasty. During our meal, the server and manager touched our table. We found out that they only open when they have a Cordon Bleu chef on staff. It's a little pricey but we will take the 30+ minute drive and do this again.

I'm going to have to take it down a star for my lunch experience here this past weekend. I was really excited to partake in a bloody Mary because of a facebook picture someone posted on their page. I was so disappointed in it! There was almost no flavor in it and they put shredded Romano cheese in the bottom of the glass which made it hard to drink. Along with the tiny beer back, it was $10 I'll never get back. There is a limited menu for lunch as well and I wasn't in the mood for a burger so I settled on the southwest egg rolls. There wasn't anything special about them, which was a bummer because their food is so good every other time. I will say that my mom really like the grandma Alice salad and it was her first time there so I can be happy about that. If my mom didn't have a good meal, I'd never hear the end of it. I'm just sorry I couldn't say the same for myself.

Very classy place, great for a date night. The seafood risotto was excellent, generous amounts of shrimp and scallops. PERFECT for a cold evening, the ultimate comfort food! It's not cheap, but reasonably priced for a finer dining/impress your date kind of place. I didn't see the appetizer special here on yelp until after we were done, so don't forget!

Nice little restaurant in beautiful restored building. We had reservations and recoomend you make them. started out with soem martini's, everyone in my party enjoyed their drinks. Scallops as an appetizer where great. anything wrapped in baon is great but cooked well with crisp outside but not rubbery. Everyone in my party had steaks, would skip the bernaise sauce next time but all steaks where cooked well and mahed potatoes and spinich where nice sides. Wine list is good but htey do have a corkage fee if you want to bring your own. Overall great meal. The bar is the main focal point in the restaurant so it is like eating in a bar area with TV and all but not as noisy. Can't wait ti go back.

3 1/2 star Martinis ; 2 star food Granted, I was there Sunday night during Algonquin's Founders' Days, which actually worked out pretty nice, but I find it really hard to believe this was the cause for my not so great experience. Besides, a good restaurant always has to be on, right? I feel bad saying this because the management (owners ???) seem great and the place was original with a very nice friendly quaint feel but as it was this night I simply can't recommend it. So what makes me say this? SERVICE - our server seemed pretty inexperienced or simply wasn't that good; especially for the caliber of place Martini's on Main is trying to be. She took way too long to take our order, provided little to no help on the menu, didn't check up on how the food was until too late, wasn't warm and friendly - robotic, charged me for a drink I sent back, and in general just didn't have the flow or style of a good server. FOOD - very little good to report. The Caprese Salad was the best item I tried but how hard is this dish to make? Even so the mozzarella size-wise was about half what it should be and the tomatoes either weren't the best variety or not ripe enough; maybe both. Next up was the Hummus and Pita bread appetizer. Like the Caprese it was OK, not bad, not great either. For my main entry, I tried the Dijon Rack of Lamb which was supposedly one of their signature dishes. Not only was the lamb not that great but it was also *way* overcooked; well-done actually. Our server said they typically prepare it medium-rare. OK, that's what I would expect but this was well-done. Accompanying the Rack of Lamb were some rather dry and ordinary mash potatoes. I also sampled the Tilapia which surprising tasted pretty fishy as in not that fresh. Since not only do they fry [CORRECTION: they broil] this fish but also typically put a strong flavored preparation on top; maybe the quality of the fish went accidentally unnoticed. Is a cheeseburger a safe bet? Sorry to say no.. Medium-rare once again was well done and the patty was quite dry and crumbly. I don't believe they freeze their meat but it almost seemed like it had freezer burn. Other than a strong garlic flavor, there was little flavor. Even a lot of ketchup and mustard couldn't save this one. To stay the course, the accompanying french fries were too salty and the flavor of the oil made me wonder if they had used if for the fish. To finish things off I tried the chocolate ganache with raspberry sauce. The raspberry sauce which in my opinion should be a drizzle not a watery puddle as it was. The ganache was literally swimming in it!! Cleanup the preparation, thicken and concentrate the raspberry sauce, and this dessert would actually be quite good. This all said, I did really enjoy the fresh table bread! MARTINIS - I tried two: the Appletini and a vanilla vodka based one. There wasn't enough vodka in either for me and were very average. Not what I was expecting from a place with Martini in the name. That said they both came out super chilled perfectly with ice crystals floating on the top! Hence, the three and half stars. Sorry to say but Martini's on Main just didn't deliver.

Went there a couple of weeks ago. The food was outstanding had the mussels in a spicy red sauce with sausage as the app, could have made a meal with that. I ordered the chefs special that night of BBQ ribs, I loved the ribs they were fall off the bone awesome. Had a raspberry martini, wish I could make that at home. The server that we had was fantastic he took great care of us. Can't wait to return.

Stay away from the porterhouse. Very low quality, the meat was tasteless. Service was very slow. Two drinks took fifteen minutes. Overall everything lacked attention to the details which make a dining experience worth the prices they charge.

Since it was recently reopened under new management, the new Martini's on Main is an absolute gourmet extravaganza for its exceedingly modest price range. This oasis of dynamic, sophisticated flavor in an otherwise pizza and burger only part of northern Illinois showcases a menu of traditional Euro fare, but with inventive variations on each recipe that your palate will savor all the more. The chicken pineapple kebob, for example, could have rested on its own laurels with the main ingredients, but co owners Klara Cukova and Greg Geigel decided to literally sweeten the deal with honey, caramelized lemon glaze and a side of wild rice pilaf almost never seen west of the Fox River. Simply put, it was a dish worthy of the culinary hall of fame, probably somewhere in Paris. And if you're in the mood for some succulent appetizers, you have to try the shrimp in the spicy garlic cream sauce. A spoon is included in the price which is good news because you'll probably be slurping down whatever rich, ingredient laden sauce remains after attacking the tender shrimp. For a lighter start there's always the hummus and pita which is thick and heavy on the tahini if you're so inclined. The caprese salad also couldn't have been fresher which made me suspect they made their own mozzarella on the premises. It arrived smothered in a hearty balsamic vinaigrette, dripped artfully on the plate with Martini's trademark flair for presentation. As an almost compulsory nod to the locals, you can indeed get burgers and sandwiches, but keep in mind you're going to get more flavor for your buck as even the ground beef takes a turn with the spice rack before it ends up at your table. True to its name, Martini's can simply be your cocktail bar haunt of choice where you can share a laugh with its witty and unpretentious owners and imbibe in the ambiance. After all, the hardwood, classic atmosphere is warm and inviting, the staff charming as can be in both attentiveness and humor, and if you happen by on a Sunday afternoon you'd be hard pressed to find a more deliciously indulgent time waster than the sangria special in pitcher form, including a recipe imported directly from Spain. But if you want a glorious taste trip replete with entrees and appetizers seldom devoured in even the fanciest Michigan Avenue bistros or, for that matter, any top Parisian or Tuscan eatery, you've got to give Martini's full menu a try. Your taste buds will thank you.

Obviously I really didn't like the place. My husband's steak wasn't outstanding enough to be worth the price. I got there jambalaya and the French onion soup. The soup was so salty I couldn't eat it and the the jambalaya tasted like curry. It's not supposed to taste anything like curry. Worst of all the service was horrible. The place was basically empty but our meal too 45 minutes to come out. 5 employees were hanging out at the bar with nothing to do but everything took forever to come. Even the check and our server didn't have any other tables. We will never go back.

This is certainly one of our favorite restaurants in the area. While not cheap, the food is great, the service is friendly, the owners are present, caring and interested. We generally go there on Saturday early and have never had a problem getting a table. We also have never had a bad meal or poor service.

My husband and I wanted someplace new to visit for our anniversary dinner. We chose Martinis on Main. Upon entering I noticed that this is a small, cozy space. There is a beautiful bar near the back. Too bad it is joined by flat screen TVs. The last thing I need at an anniversary dinner is a sports game in the background. The restaurant is decorated in sort of a 'tuscan' theme, although there are lots of random chotchkies on the walls. Little plaques and 'decorative' jars of peppers. The space would be better without all this crap! There is live music at Martinis several nights a week. We ended our dinner right around the time their guitarist started playing; I wish we would have timed our dinner better so we could have enjoyed more of the music! There is a nice size wine list at Martinis. They also have, of course, martinis. Wednesdays are $5 martini nights. For dinner my husband and I started with the bruschetta. It was a nice size appetizer (6 pieces? 8?). I had the filet mignon for dinner and it was very good. Andy had some other sort of steak(?). Our food arrived hot and fresh. The dinner menu is small. Probably smaller than the martini list. There are choices of pasta, fish, steak, seafood. There is also a small kids menu. Overall, this is a decent place to go and eat, especially for the area. We haven't really found too many other 'nice' restaurants around. The atmosphere is nice and the food was good. We might return for another visit, but probably just for a special occasion.

My girlfriend and I both had the stuffed filet meals and were absolutely amazed. Probably the best steak dinner I've ever had. Went with the grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes which were both excellent also. We also tried a few martinis each which were very good, though I do admit I am not much of a martini drinker. Definately recommend this place, plan on going back with friends some time soon. They just need to add crem brulet to the desert menu!

Delightful! the overall experience was wonderful. Our server, I believe was named Lacey, was so cute and great, just great! We went for our anniversary and requested a booth. I'm not sure what the reviewer below was bitching about, but that wasn't a problem. We got our booth. Our server was so wonderful, just great!! We got there at 7 on a Saturday, and we had never been there. It was our 18th anniversary, and we wanted someplace local, but special. We had the mussels app, very good. My husband ordered the filet trio, and I ordered the salmon trio. Both came out cold, over cooked. Normally, we would not complain, but never go back...so when poor Lacey came by? my husband asked her to feel the food, which was seriously ice cold. Lacey was great!!!! the plates were removed. We were given the option of having the food taken off the bill. We opted to have it replaced, even though we were pretty full. I had read great reviews, so what the heck, lets see. We then had Lacey check back often, the chef bring the food back out. oh, it was devine!!!! and the owner come by to say sorry! I really don't look for all this, but we try to support the locals. we will be back, over and over! great place!!! and i really loved our server!!!!! This is seriously a well run restaurant trying hard to make it in todays economy!! Please support them!!

Last Friday morning I was trying to find someplace other than the usual steakhouses we frequent. While browsing Yelp, I came across Martini's on Main, which we pass all the time. I had no idea they carried great steaks, and after browsing their menu, I emailed my reservation request (before business hours) for Saturday night, and my confirmation came later that day. We arrived and were promptly seated and well taken care of throughout the meal. I don't mind paying close to $30 for a filet that will melt in your mouth, and this place did not disappoint. I actually requested a 12oz cut (cooked rare of course) for an up-charge since I had starved myself all day. My request was granted and it was picture perfect...the last time I had a steak cooked that well, with that much natural flavor (accented with a Bearnaise sauce), was in the city a block from the meat market. The rest of our party seemed to equally enjoy their meals. Finally a place that understands what it takes to deliver perfectly cooked prime steaks....although I don't think they advertise it as "prime beef" in which case, I couldn't tell the difference.......,or I just starved myself way too long. Keep up this kind of quality and 5 star reviews will be coming in for years.

Having heard of this place by a few people, I decided to check out a new area. Tucked in a stand-away location from the intersection of Main and Algonquin Road, this place hides a unique treasure. I am assuming because of the very cold and snowy weather; parking on the street was plentiful. Come to find out, there is a parking lot in the back. As Adrienne mentioned, the place is cozy. I found that the high-back booth sections gave us some sort of privacy. I was surprised that on a Wednesday there were very few that came for dinner. Lucky for us, Wednesday is $5 martini night. They have about 10 on special and about 50 to try! After otrdering out drinks, the waitress gave use two pieces of bruschetta that must have been served complimentary or as usual business when eating dinner. We had the Chicken Parmigiana and the Eggplant Parmigiana. With the Chicken you get a hearty two breast portion (no jokes please). With the Eggplant, you get three pieces that are thicker than expected (1 1/2 inches to 2 inches thick). The sauce tasted homemade and cooked to perfection. I personally always add a grated cheese to my plate. And, it comes with spaghetti. Overall, this is a great place to meet 1-3 people for dinner, go on a date, or want somewhere cozy where you can warm up with a martini.

First, I must say that the food was very good, and our server, Matt, was very attentive. No complains there. Unfortunately, the hostess was not willing to accommodate our seating requests. First, when I made the reservation for Valentine's Day, about a week in advance, I requested to be considered for a window seating, and I was told that they do not do seat assignments, which it is understandable. Upon arrival, we noticed there was an empty booth, but the hostess told us that it was for someone who made reservations 2 months in advance. Wait.... I though they do not honor seat assignments. Yet, a couple who arrived at the same time we did, and without reservation, got seated at the same booth we previously requested, after seating at the bar for a few minutes. I have been at this restaurant several times before, and always had a very good experience. This time, I must say I was not impressed. During a special occasion celebration, attention to details is what makes the difference between an OK and a wonderful dining experience.

You got to be kidding me...Worst meal ive had in years..Wife and i split a porterhouse...supposed to 18oz...was about a 1/4inch thick and tasted like it was cooked on a filthy grill....i think they drove over to the local Jewel and grabbed whatever was on sale....blue cheese wedge salad was disgusting...wilted lettuce and the salad dressing was cheap bottle dressing at best...onion soup tasteless....Cmon 4-5 stars for this place ? I'll give it 1 star because its close to home..But, ill never go again !

I really don't want to hear any lame excuses that consist of "this place is too far from proper Chicago." Might I suggest renting a limo because you're not going to want to miss out on anything this place has to offer, which is PLENTY. I'm quite certain that some of the tastiest drink concoctions originate from this little joint on the Fox River. Oh, and the food, WOW! This varied menu offers something for everyone. Carnivores and vegetarians will equally enjoy MonM. Their hummus and fresh pita was amazing. Some of the other special extras about this place includes a super attentive, down to Earth and friendly staff, an awesome outside patio and they play really cool music to boot. If I were ever to open a restaurant (which is mostly a pipe dream) I would want it to be similiar to Martini's on Main.

Once again excellent martinis, appetizers, and food. Even got a $10 appetizer free by checking in on Yelp. The stuffed filet was incredible. Done to perfection.

WOW! and I mean WOW!

Delightful! the overall experience was wonderful.

A very nice place to get away for a night and feel like you're in the city. It's pricey, but they have a large selection of yummy martini's to choose from. Our favorite dish is the mussels with Portuguese sausage... so good! We order it every time. Portions are plentiful, staff is friendly.

This is certainly one of our favorite restaurants in the area. While not cheap, the food is great, the service is friendly, the owners are present, caring and interested. We generally go there on Saturday early and have never had a problem getting a table. We also have never had a bad meal or poor service.

Walked in on Saturday night without a reservation and ended up with the last table in the place, that's a good sign. I can see why it was so busy. Great martinis, excellent service, very cozy atmosphere. I highly recommend the pear martini!

This is a great local restaurant. This was my 3rd time eating here and I've never been disappointed. Great service, food and atmosphere. Klara takes great pride in her establishment and it shows.

New to area and wanted to try a local establishment. We very delighted with the meal. The filet mignon was perfect. Cocktails expertly prepared and the service was friendly and courteous. Finished the meal with tiramisu and was delicious too.
