If there is one thing I always try to do, it's reserve judgement for my second trip... My first trip, I tried the gyros. Absolutely terrible. The lamb had the consistency of spam. It was disgusting. So, I waited until my next trip until I made a determination as to whether or not this place was that great. Yesterday on my trip back to Orofino from Boise, my family decided to stop in here again. This time they seemed to be out of everything we tried to order. On top of that, the waiter had no clue until the order was placed. More communication between the cook and the waiter is sorely needed. Also, if your cook lacks interpersonal skills, it's likely best that you let the waiter do the customer service. The cook was kinda a d***. The waiter? Outstanding. So very friendly. He deserved the 20% tip I gave him. My food was good. My wife was disappointed... She had to eat food that she didn't want (yep, because they were out of everything else). I'm mixed as to whether or not I'll return... If I do, it will likely be because I'm famished with no other options for food.

Stopped in here on the way up to the Selway for a much-needed weekend getaway. Let me preface this by saying that we stopped in at 10:30 at night (you read right, we got a late start)... and people are tired at this hour. I was convinced that I could order a set of fries alone since I was not in the mood for an entire meal of burger AND fries. We went inside and a young girl (probably high school aged) said that I could order fries separately, but low and behold, she goes and throws in the burger as well and charges my date the full price of a meal. No wonder she looked at me all weird wondering what I got. The vibe of the place at that hour was sort of creepy, again because it was 10:30 at night... however I must have also put out a weird vibe based on how the girl addressed us.

Did not even eat. Got drinks and got the heck out of there. They are there for one purpose. That is to fleece the tourists that are coming off their whitewater trip. We were merely passing through and decided to wait for CHEAPER options. Which we got 15 minutes down the road. They wanted to charge us $31 dollars for 2 burgers and fries.

By the looks of this place and the small town, we didn't expect much. We were super surprised at how awesome all the food was. Large menu for a hamburger divey joint, which doesn't bode well, but everything we got was awesome! The burgers rock, as do the salmon tacos, tortilla chips, homemade potato chips, shakes (chocolate banana and strawberry were our choices). Eat outside to avoid the dark and less than appealing "ambiance". A great surprise surpassing my rigorous foodie expectations.

I've been through riggins a bunch of times while driving tractor trailer and have always wanted to stop to try the elk tacos. I finally got the chance! It's a weird set up. You either have the option to order at the counter or have a waiter walk 3 steps to your table and take your order. The appearance of our waiter was not very appealing. Long story short they were out of elk tacos (which I didn't think were over priced at $12) so I ordered steak tacos which took about an hour to get. Over all the tacos weren't bad but the wait was ridiculous!! Know one else has complained about the wait for their food so ill give them the benefit of a doubt that they feel behind with the afternoon rush

Me and 11 friends stopped in The Back Eddy for some ice cream after a long day of rafting. The clerk refused to serve our group and said it would just take too long to fill, that Riggins is a small town and could not help our group. We do a lot of rafting and really like ice cream and after being refused service, we will never stop there again.

All three times I stopped in I was on my way to Grangeville, ID from California. It's probably a good thing I don't live closer because I would weigh 400 pounds. The burgers are that good. Great fries, onion rings, burgers, and the kids got milkshakes but after all the food I couldn't even think about ice cream. We're getting ready to head up to Idaho this year for the 4th of July and the first thing my son asked me was whether we were going to stop by that "great burger place". One of the best.

Check out my review I give a lot of 5 stars and few 1 stars. But there a constant them if you look at YELP feed back. Price$$$$. We got two burgers and small shakes. When he said $30 bucks I thought he was kidding. I would have left without paying right then, but the kids were starving. The decor and looks of restaurant does not say it worthy of that price. Chilli's is way cheaper. Meat was not that good. An we had 3 teen ages in charge. Look at the feed back the food is not worth the price. They will not have returning traffic. We will not be back!

Let me preface my review by stating I'm an Idaho native. Born, raised, and will die here. That being said, I don't think I've been to a worse burger joint in the whole state. The food tasted fine but not great. Their prices are extremely high for what we got. A 16 oz milkshake (considered their large) was $5.25. A burger with a side of onion rings was about $12. I enjoy a great burger for that price, but this was definitely not up to that quality. The service was absolutely terrible. We had to ask for water because it wasn't offered with our meal and the waitress didn't bring us any until we asked a second time. And she didn't bring enough cups for everyone. Also, one huge complaint was that we weren't given any napkins either. None of us. And one in our group ordered hot wings! Needless to say I was very disappointed. She didn't even so much as bat an eye at us after she gave us our food. Any food establishment that skimps on water and napkins should really reevaluate their business model. So, the food is ok, but the prices and service are appalling. When you pass through Riggins, definitely look for somewhere else to eat.

We were staying in New Meadows for the weekend and took a leisurely fishing trip for the afternoon with two family's that were friends if ours. We ended up near this establishment hungry and the kids were famished. Stopped in to this dinner and it took awhile for the waiter who was less than enthused to help us. She tossed a few menus down, adult and kids mixed together, that slid half way across the table. Pretty lazy to not hand them to us. After a good long wait and starting to get tired of waiting the waiter came by to ask what we wanted to eat. Everyone asked for water, we ordered our meals and shakes. Fifteen more minutes go by and she brings two shakes out that were supposed to be 16 ounces and were put into small coke fountain drink cups. Again we asked for water for everyone. Ten minutes later our meals come out. And finally we get waters for half the crowd. Food tasted cheap, but the cost was expensive. The milk shake was good, but overpriced When asking for napkins we got 3 for a group of ten. So apparently she can't count because the napkins and cups didn't help as we didn't even get half as many as needed. The cups had a bleach after taste. Be prepared to be charged extra if you split the tab for the group, want ranch to dip your chicken strips in too? Extra charge. The waitress was to say the least lazy and poor service. My advice keep driving and avoid this diner.

Yummy milkshakes in all kinds of interesting flavors. Loved the coconut cream pie. I didn't try the elk burgers or elk tacos, but they say they are locally raised - free range. Super pleasant servers.

Stopped in last weekend on a field trip with a group of 10. Service was great. We'd heard they are often out of the elk tacos but we lucked out. Our group had elk tacos and buffalo tacos. Each came with a generous portion of chips and salsa. The elk tacos were great. I'll probably stop in every time I'm in Riggins!
