We ate here years ago and then had dinner last night and breakfast this morning. Like Dante describing where he was headed, something like abandon hope, the inscription on the glass by the front door asks you to abandon hope this is a fast foot restaurant. The lentil rice bowl is a killer of great taste: I ask--in Pocky? Breakfast was the veggie scramble with hash browns. The latter were fabulous because there was no grease (see my review of Stepping Stones in PDX). Here's the deal: you can go to a chain or you can go to a place like this. The service was what you would want in a place where people "have coffee." We have to go to this town often and there are not a lot of options if you aren't a cowboy or some other thing. Four stars in a dismal town.

My mother and I have eaten at Oliver's four times in three days. I'm in the process of moving and we wanted some good, basic food. We are both vegetarian and found there were many, many options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The potato bake was great, as was the potatoes with vegetarian chili. (Hey this is Idaho- we like potatoes!) the vegetarian chili is grand. :) The only thing we were not 100% impressed with was the spaghetti and eggplant on the Senior menu- my mom said the eggplant tasted "off." Mom said it didn't taste very "homemade" like other things on the menu. It's a great little diner- nothing fancy (which is fine with me). :) The prices are excellent, too.

Food was ok and there seemed to be a decent selection, but what caused the two stars is the horrible, and I don't use that word lightly, service. Absolutely atrocious. Waited almost an hour for our food and our coffee was filled once during our wait for food and never after we received our food. (In fact, no one ever came around to ask if everything was ok) Not acceptable, will not return. Would have given it another shot if our awful server would have at least apologized for the delay, but not even a nod to the fact that we were unhappy.

Dammit, another staple going south. I have been eating here for a long time, but things change, the food quality isn't as good, the service has really took a turn for the worst. I remember the owner Paul always on the floor running his restaurant like a well oiled machine. I was sorry to hear of his passing, but that explains it. I should have gone to Jeri,s Jumbo cafe

I went here with my family, and it's a perfect place for breakfast and chatting. I ordered the club sandwich with hash browns and a side order of two eggs over easy. Their club sandwich had bacon, ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and eggs. Usually a club sandwich does not have eggs on it but it was surprisingly delicious. The hash browns were crispy, and went well with the side order of eggs. All of us are here for about $10 a person which included coffee. They also have a vegetable energy juice drink which has carrots, and other vegetables. It was quite revitalizing to have it with breakfast. I also ordered waffles and a sausage patty for my fiancé. It came with fruit as well, and it cost $7. There was enough food for two meals, and the sausage party was as big as a chicken fried steak. :D Our server was quite attentive, and they have great customer service. The only drawback to Oliver's is that they don't have eggs benedict. They should definitely add this to the menu. Overall I recommend trying Oliver's for breakfast if you have not been there before. Thanks!

Best place in Idaho for a salad. I love the cobb, and the mighty mini salads are great! My husband loves the build your own burger.

I went to Oliver's for breakfast every Saturday for 7 years. Needless to say, I love it. Yes, the decor is outdated (the 70's weren't that bad!). Yes, it is a diner (complete with a counter). Yes, sometimes the service can be slow (maybe I'm not as uptight about this as some people). If you're expecting a gourmet bistro, don't come here. The food is well-made and the servers are friendly, what more do you need? Just like Dennis H. said, it is absolutely the best option in Pocatello for vegetarians, which is surprising. The salads are gigantic and they have multiple veggie dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I give it 5 stars for what it is- a DINER Tips: 1. Check the special board when you walk in. 2. One of my dining partners always gets oatmeal and says it's well-made. This is the most important tip: 3. The breakfast club is the BEST thing on the breakfast menu. Seriously, whenever I order it, everyone with me asks "What is THAT? It looks delicious!" and it is delicious. Seriously. It's way better than the "scramwich".

It's hard to find a place that everyone can find something they can eat. I am wheat-free vegetarian, and my family is.. uh, not. So, I am happy that I was able to find something that I could eat, and that others would be happy with too. It's a little bit run down looking, but it was clean and everyone was nice.

The restaurant's atmosphere was very homey. Service was okay, could have been better. It was a group of 12 of us, and some of our orders didn't come out correctly. The food here was okay, felt kind of denny-ish to me.

We had breakfast and it was pretty good but not amazing American food. Their hash browns and scramwich were good.

We saw a coupon for Olivers on Restaurant.com . We looked at their menu online and was impressed. We went there with coupon in hand. I chose the double sirloin dinner ( 2-8oz steaks) . My wife chose a cobb salad and an egg salad sandwich. We also had a shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. The service was great, the waitress was very informative about their foods and how to handle the coupon. We will be going back for other meals.........coupon or not.

Worst food ever. I ordered a steak medium and I swear it was a piece of pork, done medium. The restaurant was empty and we couldn't get our drinks refilled. We probably could have left without paying and no one would have noticed.

The menu is large but tastey. They have one of the best vegetarian menus in town. Their pumpkin bread is wow and I have not ever had a better salad. If you like bell peppers you will love their pepper soup. Soups are homemade.

Their menu is quite the compendium of genres. This would normally be a 2-star, but it get's three for creativity. Pretty much a standard issue diner with absolutely nothing special.

Something for everyone, awesome salads, fresh breads though service can be iffy depending on the waitress. I've gone back several times since I moved here.
