We love coming here for lunches and dinners... And either way I tend to order the same thing!!! Soup, salad and breadsticks unlimited with Alfredo dipping sauce and zuppa Toscana soup--- DELISH. Service is great, our waiter was attentive.

I know it can be hit or miss when you go to a chain restaurant but this visit was terrible. Our waiter (Victor P) has obviously never served a larger group (there were 7 of us) because he stood at one end of the table and we had to yell our order to him. He didn't ask any of the usual questions (soup or salad) and when he brought out the salad it had onions even though that was the only thing we asked him to leave off. I have never had a waiter stand at the end of the table and hand bowls of soup to the diners at the other end of the table. He nearly spilled one of the bowls because he picked both of them up, but in the wrong hands so he crossed his arms and tried to reach down the table. My order came out wrong, my granddaughter dropped her fork and the requested replacement never showed up. Another waiter dropped and broke a wine glass and as far as I know the shards may still be on the floor. Not a lot of them but everyone goes by it on the way to the restroom and I keep trying to let the ones with little kids to be careful.

Came here on a Tuesday night, around 6pm. I don't remember waiting, but the restaurant seemed pretty full. There was ample parking I haven't been to an Olive Garden in years, but my brother lives in Middleton so I guess there isn't a whole lot of options close by. Plus we had gift cards to use. They offer you a sample of the house wine, which was good & I ordered a glass. Our waiter was very nice. We tried the chicken flat bread appetizer, which came out fairly quickly. We of course had the salad and bread sticks. I ordered the chicken parm, which was very good & crispy. The spaghetti & marinara on the side were just so-so. Everyone else was happy with their food. I tried the mashed potatoes and they were really good. I wish I had gotten that on the side of my dish instead. All in all it was a nice dinner and I would definitely come back.

The Olive Garden is a good place to eat. It can be hit or miss at times, but here lately it has been really good. I say that it can be hit or miss only because I've had times where my pasta has either been over cooked and/or dried out, too al dente and too raw tasting, or it has been spot on and perfect. So for that reason I say it can be hit or miss. But like I said before, pretty on point here lately. My new favorite dish is the bucatini pasta with the five cheese marinara. Very yummy! The house salad and breadsticks are always a winner as well and are a sure fire compliment to any meal. I love Classic Italian-American food and this place rarely disappoints. If you like Italian, definitely give it a try.

We have been here several times. If you want So-so Italian food, this is the place to go. My husband ordered the Tour of Italy last time and his lasagne was literally one noodle with sauce sloshed on top of it. I'm fairly certain that it was just whatever they could get out of the pan before washing it. It was totally gross. The manager was very kind about it and did not have us pay for our meal. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive, but their kitchen staff needs to be trained, I suppose. I always get soup and it's always good. Just good, not great.

I have been at this location several times, and it is almost always a fantastic experience! I choose to go to the Nampa location since it is typically less busy than Boise's. Although I tend to stray away from busy mealtimes, I have never had to wait more than 5-10 minutes. This last time (a Thursday evening, just before six o'clock), we were seated immediately. It is obvious that this restaurant is a well-oiled machine. There are always a great number of staff members present and the turnover in tables is efficient and nicely done. Servers are almost always thoroughly competent of the menu and are typically engaging and friendly. (Tonight, we had Jessy. She was fabulous!) My only complaint is that the gnocchi chicken soup doesn't seem to have nearly as much gnocchi as it used to -- I had one gnocchi in my whole bowl! It was probably the luck of the draw, but as other reviewers have noted, maybe the food just isn't what it used to be. Regardless, I don't have the heart to give this establishment only four stars. Five stars for Olive Garden in Nampa!

We have been here several times. As well as the other location in Boise. I have also visited a handful of other locations through the country. I have been here in large groups and small. As it is a franchise they have a menu that is expected to maintain a level of quality and consistency that you would find at every location. They certainly meet that expectation, every time I've been here. I cannot expect them to be out of the box extraordinaire so I'm not rating them solely on food. But what they do is wonderful. Where they excel is cleanliness of the facility and professionalism of the staff. Extremely efficient, courteous and there to make you feel comfortable without feeling rushed. They have it down here. Don't be afraid to tell them your in a hurry or you want to relax. They will accommodate your schedule within reason. This has been and continues to be the best location I've ever been too. The staff from top to bottom is excellent. It's obvious management and owner is committed to being the best in Nampa.

Great food and service, they were slammed with folks waiting to be seated. We got a seat at the bar and enjoyed watching Lara our bar tender work, even though she was very busy she was friendly and pleasant. We love this place.

I love the environment and the food is so good! 5 stars because this is my favorite restaurant. I really enjoy the cheese ravioli with alfredo sauce, the alfredo fettucini, and the salad and breadsticks. If you've never ordered a boat of alfredo with your breadsticks and dipped your breadsticks in it YOU must do this or your really missing out. I've had great waiters and waitresses but I've had some bad ones it just depends on the person. If you go on the weekend expect to wait for a seat to open up.

Probably the best OG I've been to. The service here is way above average and the food is always good. I'm surprised by the low ratings because I've been going here for 3 years and never had a bad experience. This is a chain people... you won't get grandma's famous dish you loved.... hopefully just above average food and service with a comfortable atmosphere. If you want high end Italian go pay for it.

I would have actually liked to eat the food, called in for a takeout order and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. The phone was never picked back-up. Called back again only to be put on hold again. Poor customer service.

We had a great meal and wonderful service for our group when we went. You can not go wrong with Olive Garden. Even the wait was not too bad when we went. If you have eaten at one Olive Garden you have eaten at all of them. You can count on it being the same from city to city, state to state.

Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable , she made us aware that that specific OG is a test kitchen so a lot of new items come and go from their menu . During out visit , we witnessed something bad. The gentleman on the table next to ours , asked the waitress why there was only 5 strips of chicken on his salad. She politely answered that that was the lunch portion. The customer couldn't get this through his thick skull , so he asked for a manager. When the manager came over (whose name I believe is Tamra) to the table the customer asked the same question again. The mgr answered that this was a mistake the waitress shouldn't of made , it was so simple and how could she of messed this up. She completely through her under the bus. It didn't end there , the waitress was doing her rounds and checking on tables , when she got to that table she apologized for the misunderstanding. The customer said ," it's no problem ". The mgr, which had been there for about 15 min talking with the customers about taxes, turned to the customer and said "oh , you don't have to be nice to her " Overall, we felt bad for the waitress . She had done nothing wrong and the mgr was just terrible at standing by her employees.

Once upon a time I used to be a huge Olive Garden fan, but alas, that time seems to have passed. We dined here last week to celebrate a birthday, and although the service was excellent, the quality of the food really wasn't all that 'wow'. I had the "Tour of Italy" this time. The portions seemed smaller (which is a good thing for me!) and the alfredo pasta noodles were dry and clumped together. Not a good thing! The rest of the meal was ok at best. Someone had a special which used steak, and the meat was rather tough. The girls had 'adult' sized Mac N Cheese, and they loved every bite of that. One other thing I don't like is the fact that they NOW charge $3.25 for a side of Alfredo 'dipping' sauce for your breadsticks. I can remember back in the late 90's when we used to ask for this and it was just simply free, and NOT even on the menu. Now they charge this much and the amount is really, really small. Still love the breadsticks and salad though!

When my family and I ordered our food, our waiter (Ryan, who if this is your waiter you might want to run for the hills) forgot to ask if we wanted soup or salad with our entrees. When he brought out the salad and the plates to eat it on, my plate was dirty and he gave it to me anyway. After I had to point out that it was dirty he swapped out the dirty plate with a new one and without an apology. The whole time he was taking our order he was very rushed and didn't write anything down. Between my sister, dad and I we ate about three bowls of salad although we almost ended up with just two because after we had finished with the bowl out waiter took it and went to walk away, when my dad caught his attention and asked for this bowl with out the pepperoncinis (the spicy peppers that go on the salad) the waiter stops in his tracks with this dumbfounded look on his face, and said oh you wanted more? When we finally got our food after waiting for about 30 minutes, my raviolis had a fettuccine noodle on it. I wouldn't have had a problem with this but my dad had spaghetti, my sister had soup and my mom had chicken. So this noodle was from someone else's food, I was not happy! So I had them cook me a new dish. And while I was waiting for that the culinary manager came out apologized for what happened and said that they would take my meal off the tab. I finally got my dish and only my food except it wasn't my waiter, it was the culinary manager, and he had to fill my drink because Ryan had failed to do that. We continued to eat without a problem however we had to keep asking our waiter to fill our drinks because that is somehow a very hard task to do. At the end of the meal boxes were brought out for our food that we had not finished and Ryan proceeded to box our food, my mom had ordered a bruschetta appetizer and he decided that it would be a great idea to put the topping part that contains some liquid in with the bread pieces so that our bread would be soggy by time we got home. I was sitting there with my dish in front of me and he just sat down a box for my food (meaning I had to box my own food, if I wanted to box up my own leftovers I would have stayed home to eat!). While this was going on my sister asked for a to-go bowl for her soup that she had not finished. About ten minutes later she still had no to-go bowl for her soup. So we stopped our waiter and re-asked for one, a few minutes later a young looking man named Brad (very good I was willing to give all of Ryan's tip to this waiter and he had helped us for a total of three minutes while he poured the soup into the to-go bowl. Heather (yet another waiter, came out to give us the check). My mom being the awesome gal that she is had a coupon, four dollars off any two dinner entrees, my mom was checking the receipt to make sure everything was right she realized that the coupon was not used and we had to stop our waiter and ask why not, he said he was sorry and that he was just going to give us four dollars out of his tips and he would get the money back, but he couldn't find four dollars (not surprising after my experience) so he gave us a five dollar voucher, oh yay a free dollar but when my mom was looking at it to see what it was she noticed that it had expired in February. While we asking why the coupon was not used he took the three to-go boxes sitting in a corner of the table and put them in the bag with the other to-go meals (from the earlier mentioned buy one take one promotion), however my meal sitting right in front of me all boxed up no thanks to him, was left untouched. Whatever I picked it up and handed it to my dad and he put it in the bag. We left with our food and not the best attitude, plus without our four dollar reimbursement because we decided not to keep expired pieces of crap to a restaurant that isn't worth a second look. We arrived home and were putting our food in the fridge when my mom looks up at me and says that there was two spaghetti (this was a problem there only should have been one spaghetti, my mom ordered the ravioli to go, and my dad ordered a spaghetti to go and I ordered the five cheese ziti to go, she had already put hers and my dads to-go dinners away and was implying that mine was wrong, this immediately made me upset, I didn't want spaghetti, but it turns out my mom was joking around they did not give us two spaghetti they gave us an extra ravioli. I grab the stupid bowl out of her hand grab my car keys and head back to Olive Garden. I asked to speak to the culinary manager and waited for a few minutes to talk to her, she came out gave me my right food and did not apologize to me! I also told her about the coupon that did not get used and she reimbursed me for the coupon. Do Not Go To This Olive Garden You Will Regret It! I only wish I could give this less than a one star rating. I have had bad service before but today was just outrageous. Some restaurants shouldn't be operating and this is one of them!!!

My friends and I stopped in here for a mid-day lunch. Pretty standard Olive Garden all around. The service was fast, there weren't too many other diners. I had my usual Zuppa Toscana and beloved breadsticks, both were the same as I remember. My Raspberry Italian Cream Soda was way heavy on the syrup, so that was a little disappointing. Our main dishes were average, I should have went with something other than the spicy shrimp with hollow spaghetti-like noodles, it was too heavy and spicy. My friends shrimp alfredo and my other friends stuffed chicken both looked great. Since they finished their plates, I'm going to say it was a win on both orders. We were too stuffed for dessert, but the total cost of the lunch was not bad, I payed a total of about $17.

Went to olive garden yesterday and had one of there new Alfredo three course meals. Seemed to be the best food I have gotten from them yet, especially for the price of 12.99. I had the garlic and chicken alfredo with Tuscano soup and chocolate mouse cake. Cant really think of anything they did wrong. The food tasted pretty good and came in a pretty quick way. And even if it takes a little while this place always fills you up with breadsticks and endless soup or salad anyways. Overall I had a pretty good experience, and would definitely go back.

Ok...so they get ONE more star from me. We finally went and had amazing service and an amazing time. We weren't rushed thru dinner and our service was perfect. So way to go I finally have a good review for them

We were starving after a long road trip and wanted comfort food. Staff is busy socializing Several tables be ignored after guest left and weren't bussed for a long long time. Food came out quickly waitress was friendly. I hope I never see an Olive Garden again. I'd rather have fast food

I do not understand how people can eat this crap. The pasta is like glue, the meat is like rubber, the soup is like water as are the drinks. The salad and breadsticks are good.. but that is about it.

We went there tonight for my birthday dinner and the pasta was quite sticky and the alfredo sauce was not as creamy as usual. I don't know it it was due to the endless pasta special ending on Sunday or what. I think we will pass on this place for a while. I do have to say that the waiter was awesome though. Maybe it just wasn't our night. Oh well.

First, I'm not sure in this economy how a 2 dollar sign restaurant price range is moderate ($11-30). I feel this is much too broad.... So I visited this particular restaurant for the first time today on a whim after the delicious garlic smells drifted across the parking lot to Petco, while I was loading dog food in my trunk. My husband has never been impressed with the Olive Garden in Boise, so I hadn't had a chance to go to the one in Nampa before. I walked in and was greeted at the hostess stand and told the girls I could eat in the bar. It was a great decision, as the bar tender was uber-friendly, efficient and attentive. I was disappointed to find that they no longer carry Moretti Dark - the only dark beer they had was Guiness (I *thought* this was supposed to be an Italian kind-of restaurant?). So, I ordered another beer and soon after, salad and bread sticks were delivered. As the bartender set the bowl down, she thought it was too hot (should have been chilled). I assured her it was fine, and it was. I was half-way through, my lunch arrived - Shrimp Mezzaluna. It sounded delicious, so I thought I'd splurge. After all, a lunch plate for $11.50??? I was sorely disappointed. At first glance, I couldn't believe how small of a portion it was. Second was the temperature. It was lukewarm. The taste was a little better, but not near as rich as I had envisioned it would be. I guess Olive Garden had to make up for the cost of salad and bread sticks somewhere... I will be back again. Definitely not for the Shrimp Mezzaluna. I think I might try the Chicken Flatbread pizza next time. It has garlic. My husband is a big lasagna fan, and that's what turned him off to the Boise location in the past. I'm curious to see if it's any better now. The service is what made this meal 3 star... not the food.

No, no, no, no, no! Don't do it! Their "chef" is a microwave. Food is uninspired and overpriced for the quality.

typical olive garden experience. ..ranges from exceptional service to not so great service. it's not worth discussing the food.. people either like the olive garden or they down.. the food is always prepared well and the location is great. another yelper mentioned the server wylie.. he truly is great, very personable and provides an excellent dinning experience.

Our server was great and the food was good, it has been better in the past though. But my main issue was that one of the servers used the restroom at the same time as I did, and was talking on her cell phone in the stall. I heard the toilet flush, and while I was washing my hands, she came out of the stall, glanced at her phone and walked right out the door. She then when straight up to the front where the menus and silverware are without washing her hands. This is gross and unacceptable to me and we will not be back!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
