Highly recommend the cheese or shredded beef enchiladas, chile Verde, and chile Colorado. Been going here for almost 20 years. Also, salsa and beans are awesome. Service is good-- a little bit of a language barrier so be patient. Tips: Don't get ground beef. Also, don't wait for the tab--ask for it.

The food is ok but usually a little on the greasy side. The service is always nice but I'm sure that is because the restaurant is usually pretty empty. They are located under a hotel but that doesn't seem to effect the atmosphere much at all. If your looking for a ok inexpensive mexican meal in a quite location. You might give El Rodeo a shot. I go there from time to time when I want something better than Taco Time just up the street.

This is the best Mexican food in the Treasure Valley hands down. Let me be clear: this is not "Tex Mex". This is authentic, home style Mexican food. The chicken fajitas are my favorite and very shareable. The chili verde is also very tasty. I especially like the chili verde enchilada but the chili verde burrito and the chili verde platter are equally delicious. The picadillo (shredded beef) enchiladas are something I order regularly too. My daughter can't get enough of their cheese enchiladas. The beans and rice are also noteworthy. They are not a bland afterthought like other places in the area. They are a delicious enough to be a stand alone entree if you aren't feeling overly hungry. The refried beans are creamy, well seasoned, and topped with lots of delicious melty cheese. The rice is perfectly cooked and seasoned and will have you begging for their secret recipe. The salsa is phenomenal as well. Very fresh and delightfully spicy. The service is friendly and the food arrives quickly after ordering. This restaurant is in a pretty shady looking hotel in downtown Nampa, but don't let that keep you from the best Mexican food you'll find in Idaho!

I like to try different restaurants with my family and we were not impressed. Large portions but rather greasy. The ground beef made my taco the worst taco I've ever had so I would recommend staying away from any ground beef anything. My enchilada was good and the salsa that came with the chips was excellent with that fresh salsa taste and a mild spicy bite that followed. Chile relleno had a strange taste I cannot describe. Service wasn't bad, the food came out fast, the staff was nice but I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon if ever. If you go here the fajitas that some others were eating looked and smelt good.

The bad reviews are not taking into account what this place is. It's not high service, it's a great inexpensive Mexican food joint with the best fajitas you might ever eat.

Been our family favorite for over 20 years. Great prices considering the amount of food you get.

Our family has been going to El Rodeo for many years now, and it has been a family favorite from the salsa & beans to the enchiladas, burritos, etc to the arroz con pollo & pollo a la crema. We highly recommend it. Your food is ready fairly quickly. They also have a mild salsa available besides the somewhat spicy regular salsa.

El rodeo is a staple for me and my family. It's a hole in the wall but deserves much more credit than other reviews on here so far. The fajitas are the bomb and all of the food is very close to something that my Mexican grandma would make so I feel right at home. I would easily recommend this over chapalas, jalepenos, or any of the other weak Mexican restaurants in nampa. Most of the waiters speak Spanish and it is connected to a run down motel, but the food makes it all worth it.

First, it is attached to a very old motel downtown Nampa so don't be alarmed. Its small, quiet and generally good service. The salsa and chips is what you will be going back for. The food is pretty typical home-cooked Mexican food, nothing out of the ordinary. You can just buy the salsa to-go which is a perk. Prices are affordable.

Some of the worst tex-mex in town. I ordered #39; chili rellenos and a tamale. What I got was the usual sauce and cheese soup from which I had to dredge out... what's this? A cheese omelet? Halfway through I found about half of a small poblano pepper, laying on top of the cojack inside of the huevos. The tamale was okay as far as the dough was concerned, only the meat lacked flavor and there were chunks of potato in it...? My partners enchilada meat was better, but the taco accompanying it had a premade grocery-store shell and the meat inside was chock full of salt and nearly inedible. I think his comment was, "I haven't even tasted that much salt on the edge of a margarita glass." The rice on the side had a nice crunch to it... too bad it was cooked in old oil. The worst part is we had sopes here a long time ago and they were pretty good. Had I been expecting pure tex-mex, I... well, honestly I wouldn't have even gone. I wish I could say the service was better than the food. Well okay, maybe it was since they weren't rude, only sluggish. What our palates went through was rude. Pros: they have horchata and the salsa's pretty tasty.

I've been a fan 10+ years, and prefer El Rodeo over the other mexican restaurants in Nampa. Love their shredded beef chimis (they put chunks of potato in the beef). If you order salad, ask for dressing on the side.

Decent Mexican food restaurant. Service is always good, but that can also be because everytime we go there, we're one of the few patrons. Prices are reasonable and overall the food is pretty good.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
