Our first night in Nampa, the grandparents wanted to take us out to their favorite Mexican restaurant so we happily drove over there after our long trek. The place is your typical Mexican restaurant in styling with extra warm welcomes coming from the staff as you walk in (I think they knew my grandparents well too). We were promptly seated as there weren't too many people in the restaurant for a Sat (it sits behind a Del Taco with signage on the main drag 12th Av / Hwy 45). Menus were given and drink orders taken with a quickness and it didn't take long before I knew what I wanted from their vast menu of Mexican morsels. I decided to try their Grilled Chimis (two small non-fried burritos) which were stuffed with ground beef and cheese. They were accompanied by the usual rice and beans. The dish overall was really good but as I got to the end of it the richness of it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was very pleased overall that my drink was refilled appropriately, the dish had massive flavor and the staff were beyond nice. It also helped that we got to spend it with our fave grandparents!

Average Mexican fare. Not bad, but not the most fantastic either. Frankly, I've had good and bad experiences eating here. It's not just the things on the menu either, it all comes down to who's in the kitchen at the time you go in to eat. You can definitely tell the difference when someone who's a good chef is working or isn't. For this reason this place never leaves "middle of the road" for me. I've tried their beef fajitas, their house special soup "caldo siete mares" and the cheese and onion enchiladas. I've also had their various burritos and chimis. All of it can be good or bad. Almost like a flip of a coin. Here lately it's been on the better side. I hope it stays that way.

Any Mexican restaurant that charges for chips w/o telling you deserves to be shutdown. Terrible.

Ordered takeout. Very Friendly staff, but found the chips to be greasy. Salsa excellent. Ordered bean burrito which was flat, not rolled with very small amount of beans inside it versus the pork chili verde burrito was normal round size? Not sure what happened there? Chili verde sauce used in the burrito tasted great, but the pork itself was very fatty so unfortunately not for me:(

Tonight was my second time eating here. I am in single mom mode since my husband is gone for military training. I was tired and didn't want to cook so I called ahead and got shredded beef nachos and a side of fries for my son. It has been very hot lately so I left the windows down and ran in with my eye on my car the whole time. The lady at the front desk has no record of my order. I told her the lady on the phone said it would be ready in 5min so we flew out of the house. Needless to say I ended up having to wait about 10 min with my son in his diaper (we live close and literally flew out of the house) the people waiting to be seated were ALL seated before I got my subpar nachos and bland fries. I won't eat here again. The hassle just wasn't worth it especially for poor quality, overpriced food. My total was $10.28 for fries and nachos?? Save yourself the hassle and go to Qdoba where for half the price you get nachos that actually have some meat on them!! Plus they have a military discount ;)

Every Time I have gone to Chapala's the service and food have been great. Last night it was fairly busy and we where seated right away. Within a minute chips, refried beans and salsa were placed on our table. Our drinks were order now it's time to decide what I was in the mood for. I must say I get overwhelmed by the menu as there is so many items to choose from. I am not very adventurous so I stick to the meal I have had in the past that never has failed me. I believe it's called Chapala's Camarones, bacon wrapped sautéed prawns with onions smothered in monterey jack cheese, sour cream and guacamole. This particular dish also comes with a side of refried beans and rice. This meal is huge and I always have enough leftovers from another meal the next day. The price is around $14 but I figure for two meals it's not so bad.

We love Chapala and have been coming here for years. The staff is always nice. They have some of the best Mexican food in Nampa. My favorite is the Mexican Burrito.

3 points because the people there are ALWAYS so nice. Only 3 points though cuz the food is poor. All chicken dishes taste like Lysol. Rellenos are greasy and poorly prepared. Nachos have so much cheese it's just a greasy mess. Enchiladas are so-so. Tacos aren't as good as taco time.

Great Mexican food! Really fast service and servers are super friendly. Also, you can get the chips and salsa to go.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
