So I ordered the lobster ravioli and was pleasantly surprised. However my son ordered the chicken Milano and it was undercooked and we had to send it back. The bread was warm and fresh and salads were also decent. My wife ordered the lemon chicken and it was also good. So sort of mixed reviews here...service was good

Used to be an absolute favorite! What happened??? :( the quality has definitely gone down hill. When will the restaurant owners learn!? If you're trying to save money by serving crappy quality food, people will stop coming!! Wow.

The food was so good. When you first walk in,they bring you warm bread and oil for dipping. My dining companion and i had the firesticks for an appetizer. I recommend them, they have chicken, sausage, cheese, jalapeños and green onion wrapped in a sundried tomato tortilla and then fried.I had the spicy chicken and shrimp pasta and my dining companion had the bowtie pasta festival, both are delicious. The spicy chicken and shrimp was filled with lots of chicken but they did skimp on the shrimp. It was tossed with penne pasta, sun dried tomatoes and a spicy Alfredo sauce. The festival had chicken, bacon, sun dried tomatoes and Alfredo sauce. We had tiramisu for dessert,i forgot to get a picture. It was pretty good but it was the first piece of tiramisu i have tried so i can't compare it to any other. I do recommend giving Carinos a chance, yes they are a chain restaurant but they do have good food.

Usually I'm not a big fan of buying spaghetti I'm a better cook than most places I eat. But guys night requires my son getting to pick the spot. Tonight Carinos was on top of it. The food was hot and fresh. We had their wonderful bread and olive oil w/ garlic (I always add balsamic vinegar), calamari, and skillini. All was really good. But what made the night was our server Christel. She was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Some of the best service I've had in a while. A great night!

Terrible service. My family were here a week or so back. The place was not to busy yet by the attention we received they seemed understaffed. There were 7 members at our table and our food came out in waves. My youngest boys were done eating before some of us ever got our food. Our drinks were usually empty, and we could hardly complain as our waitress was not ever nearby. The "limitless" soup and salad would have been nice except that once she dropped off the first round, we did not see her again until see was bringing out the first wave of food, which was 15 minutes later. At that point it still took several more minutes for her to return with our drink refills. The rest of our meals were still a few minutes away. They used to be so good. Wtf carinos?

This place has its good and bad points. It's not the best place I've ever eaten at, but it's also not necessarily the worst either. The house salad and vinaigrette left a lot to be desired. The chicken penne Gorgonzola was also pretty good, but not enough to make me really say "wow! over. All in all a good place to eat, but could be better. Average in every way.

The olive oil and roasted garlic that comes with a nice Loaf of warm bread is a nice touch. The is a solid Italian restaurant. I recommend the fire sticks for an appetizer. (Not spicy at all) The main dishes are all just ok for a weeknight family dinner but not the best for a romantic night out. If that makes sense.. Service was only fair. Had to ask for refills and food came out at all different times. :(

We went into Carino's tonight, May 11, and the first thing they gave us was bread and it was as hard as a rock, like it had been sitting there overnight. We ordered our dinner and the first time it came out, the chicken was not cooked enough and the spaghetti was cold, like they had forgotten to put it into hot water to warm it up. We sent it back and the second time it came out, the chicken was cooked but the spaghetti was still cold. We told the manager, Brad, how cold and bland it was and he took it back to be cooked yet again. When it came back for the third time, it looked like it was just the same food as previously. It didn't look any better reheating it; it just kept getting worse. The food was below standard. I think I'd get better spaghetti at Noodles & Co. I did try to talk to Brad, but he was defensive about things and refused to do anything to help us, despite the numerous errors, and got mad at us before walking off and saying that he didn't care. Brad just wanted us to pay for our food and leave. The food did not taste like it used to and there's definitely something wrong with it. What should've been a nice family dinner ended up being a 2 hour ordeal. I would not suggest Carino's to anyone unless you enjoy getting cold, greasy, and slimy food as well as managers like Brad who don't care. We will not go back and there are better places around the valley that have better quality food.

We have been here many times. Why I am not sure. Well, maybe I do know why. Johnny Carino's is close by. We live in Meridian, so coming here is convenient. But just like in life, the things that are the most convenient are not always the best. Often its the hard things to get to that are the best and most rewarding. Such in the case with Johnny Carino's. Its close, so we can get to dinner, and then back home with very little effort. But, and this is a awfully big butt, you will find much better Italian food elsewhere. Like I said, we have been here quite a few times. Each time, we tell ourselves that it will be our last. But I guess its a bit like going to McDonalds, or seeing that bad boy down the street. You know that its not good for you at all, but you just cant help yourself. Or its like that movie that you went to see at the theater that you hated. Even though the movie turned your stomach, you just could not leave the theater. Maybe I was because you were determined to get your moneys worth no matter what. Maybe it was just another example of those bad things in life that we crave. Whatever the reason, you stayed and watched that horrible movie then told yourself afterwards that those were 2 hours of your life that you would never get back. Johnny Carino's falls in this same category. While I would not say that I hated the food, I would not say that it was good either. I will say that the potato soup is very good. Its a creamy soup with potatoes, bacon, and green onions. Its always the highlight of our meal. But when the appetizer is the best part of the meal, that is a good sign that something is wrong. Every time we have come here, there has been an issue with our meal. On the last trip, my wife had the chicken fettuccine. It had little to no flavor at all, so my wife sent it back. On another trip, the chicken was not quite done. On yet another, we found a hair in our food. I wont go on anymore with that. My daughter always has an Italian Soda. These are good, but pretty easy to do, so not a fair evaluation of a restaurant. I have had the chicken Parmesan here as well. It is ok, but no where as good as others I have had. For what you get, the prices are a big high. Every time we have come, there are very people here. I would not be at all surprised if they dont make it much longer. I suspect that now that now that the Village is open, many places in the Meridian area are feeling the economic pinch. Personally, I dont think that the restaurants in The Village are that great, and they are over priced, but I am sure that the rent there is astronomical. The village is a fun place to go though. I look forward to eating at that place that is above the theater and writing up a review on it. Well, I suppose I had better get back to this review first. The inside is old and tired. I often take flake for being too critical. To these naysayers I say pooh. Those of us that write reviews like this as hoping for the best, not the worst. We are always searching for good quality restaurants that are doing a good job. The main reason though is that I hope that Johnny Carino's will read these reviews, take them to heart, and improve. Reviews, and Constructive Criticism is a restaurants best friend. At least it should be. If a restaurant owner and manager wants to stay competitive, and in many cases stay in business, they need to be reading what their customers have to say and making changes that will help them keep their doors open. For now, if you want good Italian food, I recommend Olive Garden. They are not perfect either, but then again, there is no such thing. I would like to say that we wont be back here, but sometimes in life, you just dont the time or patience for better. So its quite possible that we will be back.

So, my son earned his Black Belt today in Tae Kwon Do and he asked to go to Carino's for a celebration dinner. Things didn't start off well as my party was squished into seating not meant for as many people as we had with us. When I tried to get us reseated into appropriate accommodations, we were told that we couldn't because they had reservations for prom. The restaurant was nowhere near full. I was given a lot of attitude and excuses. I was offered a manager; who never came over. My wife kept me from pursuing the matter. It was interesting to be made to feel like my celebration was less important than someone's prom; or that my money was not as good as others. The rest of our experience was okay; in that, the food was fine and our waitress was nice and attentive. Overall, what should have been a wonderful celebration was just an okay time.

Food? Amazing Atmosphere? On point Service? Sad to say, awful. Just waited 10 mins while our waitress sat down and chatted with another customer, and obvious friend, after asking if we wanted a refill. After her lovely conversation was over, she asked again if we wanted a refill... Just... What? I hate this because I love this place. The food is amazing. The customer service tonight was horrible though.

What happened to Johnny Carinos? It used to be one of my favorite restaurants. This restaurant had really gone down hill. The service was horrible. There wasn't even anyone waiting in the lobby. The hostess and 2 waitresses just kept walking by for 20 minutes. I finally had to ask for bread. The. I asked who our server was. We finally had to just walk out. Not recommended and avoid this restaurant is. We had great service at their competitor across the parking lot!

This used to be my favorite go to restaurant. Last night's visit was disappointing at best. Our waiter was more like a robotic drone than anything. My food was greasy and the chicken tasted strange. The sangria was missing fruit. So, if the service, food and beverages stink . . . for the same high prices . . . will not be returning. THEY ARE NOT CLOSED.

Recently visited on a weeknight around 6ish. The place was about 25% full. We were seated immediately. Then the waiting began... It was hard to tell who our server was. Several looked at us as they walked by but none cared to take a moment to check on us. We sat, waterless, with only our menus for 15 minutes before even getting our first visit from our server. (I started keeping track after 5 minutes because it was getting pretty annoying) He did apologize saying he was busy. We gave him our entire order, as we had ample time to look at the menu, and off he went. Took him about another 10 minutes to come back with our drinks. Again, the restaurant was not very full and there were plenty of staff on the clock. It was about an hour from the time we sat down to getting our food. The server apologized again and thanked us for our patience. He then said he would talk with the manager to see if he would comp part of our meal. The manager came by and said," I heard you had a bit of a wait for your meal." To which I said," Yea, it has been quite a slow experience in general." He then asked," Was the food worth the wait?" I replied,"It's pretty good." Then he said,"Okay," smiled and walked away. Here is where I have the biggest issue. I have quite a few years of experience as a server. I know people have "off nights" and things just don't seem to go your way or you have a high maintenance table. I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to servers. When a server asks a manager to comp a table because he messed up, it is the manager's responsibility to redeem the experience for the guests. This manager showed his true priorities in that moment. Had we chosen to cause a scene and make a big deal out of it we probably would've been comped. However, guests should not have to resort to such tactics. A manager should simply own up to the mistake and do what needs to be done to compensate. Instead, he chose to save the company a few dollars over taking care of his guests. The only redeeming quality of the evening was the food. I ordered a pesto ravioli which was quite good and my friend got a spicy alfredo pasta which she enjoyed as well. We were considering desert until the experience with the manager. I will not be returning...

Don't bring the kids. Daughter ordered stuffed cheese pasta and they brought out 7 pieces of tortellini! The kids meal cost $5.49 so that's almost a $1 per piece of pasta. Talked with the manager and he laughed and said that's what the recipe called for. My sons kids meal had an overflowing bowl of fettuccine! Waiter was busy flirting with the waitresses to notice or better yet check on us. Place was not busy so no excuses. Gave 2 stars for the cooks, the food is very good, too bad the place is poorly managed.

Tonight I phoned for curbside service for the first time. I phoned at 5:10 and said my husband would be there to pick up in 35 minutes. He arrived right on time, went inside to pick up the order and was unceremoniously told to wait in his car. He waited more than 15 minutes of waiting without so much as an acknowledgment. When he went in to complain they said "well we're busy". There are a lot of restaurants in Boise. We won't return to this one

Went for lunch today, tried the layered lasagna. It wasn't that great, i just had lasagna at big al's that tasted so much better. The cheese tortelloni were also kind of unimpressive. The positives were the stuffed mushrooms, maybe the best I've ever had- so delicious! Our waitress was above and beyond recommending a wonderful appetizer and providing such friendly and excellent service. She has long brown hair and a tattoo of a heart on her wrist, sorry i do not remember her name.

This evening my adult children and I came in for dinner to celebrate my daughters birthday. I had brought in some coupons that I bought for a school fund raiser. The coupons were $5.00 off per check with purchase over $20.00 We were all having separate checks and they only allowed us to use one coupon. After talking with Matt the General manager (very young and arrogant, i might add) he would not make an exception. There was 10 of us and our combined bill was well over $100. Being in the customer service industry I could not believe his attitude! The food was good but not excellent. Chelsea the waitress on the other hand was excellent!! She could teach her General Manager a thing or two about customer service! Since I'm not coming back to this location I passed out my remaining coupons to those in the waiting area.

We have eaten here a few times and have always had good experiences. The food is always well prepared & tasty and the stuffed mushroom appetizer is a favorite. One of the things we really appreciate is the cleanliness of the place. Near closing time, we have watched the kitchen staff deep cleaning all of the stainless in the kitchen...even moving the appliances out to clean under an behind them.

Whenever we ask our teenaged son where he'd like to eat or take his friends, Johnny Carinos always comes up. The food there is good and plentiful - he especially likes the mozzarella cheese sticks and the fresh bread and herbed-infused olive oil they serve at the beginning of a meal. I was happy to see that they are gluten-free friendly. They substituted sauteed spinach for the pasta in my entree, and it was delicious. The only reason I sometimes avoid the restaurant is that it isn't very calorie-friendly, though a person could order pasta with just marinara and a salad with dressing on the side.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
