Pretty good Italian food right on the main drag in Ketchum. The food was delicious and the service was also quite good. They have an outdoor seating area that was big and they have big shade umbrellas. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food. The marinara sauce is very good and tasted very fresh. The portions are large. I am holding back from 5 stars because it was nothing out of the ordinary that made me think, "Dang I need to come back here." It was solid and don't think you can go wrong with this one.

This is the first time Yelp has ever failed me. Went to Sun Valley for the first time and wanted authentic Italian food and so I turned to Yelp. This is definitely not what I would consider authentic Italian. We ordered a small tomato basil pizza with thin crust as an appetizer....it wasn't necessary what I would call a thin crust. The sauce had no flavor & the tomato chunks we're huge. I ordered the spaghetti with their "famous meatballs" as my entree...I'm still trying to figure out what's so famous about them. The meatballs we're tasteless & the sauce was bland. Husband ordered the chichen parmesan....he barely touched it (and he loves chicken parmesan). I gave one star for the great service. Overall a big disappointment...we will try the OTHER Italian restaurant next time.

My wife and I were there in mid July. It was a very mixed experience so i'm summing it up with two stars. Background: we got into town late and didn't enter Rico's until a little before 930 which is late for them. We ordered a bottle of wine, two salads, Chicken Marsala, and I requested ravioli but only red sauce with it. The salads were very good as was my wife's chicken dish. The first rav i had was good, the second was still frozen in the center. I sent it back and got Lasagna which was also good. The restaurant handled the mishap well, they comped us cannoli for desert and the price of the lasagna. More than fair in my opinion. So why 2 stars? Maybe just me but I walked into a restaurant that billed itself as authentic and then served me pasta that had clearly been frozen.

We came rolling in as a party of 15 and then we were late for our reservation and they STILL SAT US!!! Absolutely wonderful service for handling a party of 15. 5 of them were kids too! We had a wonderful pizza to share and then order a couple of bottle of wines for the table. I got the rigatoni which I absolutely loved! And everything on the menu is delicious. There's actually a dish in which the server suggested to get squash instead of pasta (ask your server about it) and it was delicious! If you're craving Italian and you're in sun valley, this is the place to go!

This place is fantastic! Beautiful outdoor seating, dog friendly, vegetarian and gluten free friendly. Our waiter was really helpful and insightful, the vibe is very chill. Most important, the food is delicious. Nothing canned, all made in house. Got to try the steamed clams for an appetizer, my wife had the vegetarian puttanesca which I had a few bites and LOVED it. I had the Mac and cheese with jalapeños and mushrooms...perfect! Way to go Rico

I've had Rico's on and off over the years probably going all the way back to their first year of business which must be around a couple decades by now. A very family friendly spot to eat, which is great, but I never considered their food to exceed what you'd expect from an average pizza joint. It had been a few years since visiting Rico's and decided to pick up a couple pizzas and salads for a low key dinner. Compared to my past recollection of the pizza I was impressed this time around. We tried the chicken/jalapeño and veggie plus a salad. I enjoyed the thin crust and feel like their flavors and quality has evolved over the years. The chicken pizza had a nice spicy kick and the salad was quality. I can say I will not wait years to try Rico's again, and was overall impressed. Also as mentioned this is a great place to dine in when you're brining the kids.

Great and friendly service. Superior food! Thank you! The outdoor seating was exactly what we needed that night. The owner was very attentive to everyone.

We are staying at the Sun Valley Inn and were looking for delivery that wasn't just greasy pizza. The food was good, but I thought it was highly overpriced for the portion sizes. Maybe it is different for delivery but the $18 pasta was really small and the $14 pizza was the size of my hand. Anyways, they didn't bring us any forks so we had to eat the pasta with our fingers... I was not too thrilled about that either. I travel all the time and it boggles my mind how often this happens!

Made same day reservations via Open Table which turned out to be a good idea as the place was hopping @ 7 when we arrived with groups waiting. Our waiter Eric was super nice even though he was really busy. If you're looking for a quiet place, this isn't it. On the other hand it seemed like the place to be Friday night. I was thrilled to find they had a vegetarian puttanesca. Then I was beside myself when I found out they had three gluten free options including spaghetti squash - Heaven! I wasn't disappointed - it was spicy and a perfect portion. We had the Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir which was a nice pairing. I also enjoyed the Caprese Salad - a nice portion as well with herbs & capers - Yum! I wholeheartedly recommend and plan to return next time we are in the area.

The Rico's Meatball appetizer was suave! 2 of us shared an App and a veto pasta dish, and it was plenty of good food at a good price for Ketchum. I found it ofd that in a fairy empty restaurant, we got sat right next to one of the only full tables, but their strategy paid off as i scoped the baked Zita dish of our neighbors, and will be sure to come back to try it!

Good traditional Italian food and good service. Meatballs were great and love the bread sticks.

When we walked by this place, it looked super cute so we were eager to check it out. Overall, it was well-priced, enjoyed the cute outdoor patio, and found the food good, but not great. I splurged and had the lasagna--something I never order--but given the reviews, I thought it would be amazing. It was fine, but not worth the splurge at all.

Nice place to go to if you want unpretentious down to earth Italian meal. We had the pizzas the boys loved them! I had the clams Rico's style with wine and cream sauce- delicious! The sauce was super flavorful and the give you this cheesy garlic bread to dip the sauce with yum!!hubby opted for meat sauce over spinach instead of pasta ( gluten free version) it was great! Their meat sauce it's ok - not the best I've had. Their service was excellent- we went as soon as they opened for dinner at 5pm and was very quiet.

Nice wine list and tasty salads and appetizers for our stay in Ketchum. We were seated right away and the service was quick and attentive. There were lots of families on the patio so it seems like a good spot to bring your children, and have a nice glass of wine.

Trying to find somewhere to eat in Ketchum and stumbled on this place! Great place to take a family. Good food, good prices and great service. We had a server named Rick - great guy

My first visit to Sun Valley offered up some challenging choices for meals. Tonight we were choosing an Italian fare to enjoy, and after reading several reviews of various places in town, we opted to give Rico's the green light. Were we ever glad we did. We made reservations via Yelp/Open Table, and were seated on time - even with a busy night happening. Walking into the restaurant, the amazing smelling Italian cooking and Wood-Fire pizzas being made got our appetites up and running. We started off our meal with the meatball appetizers. I highly suggest ordering these to enjoy prior to your meal. 3 delectable balls of flavor with both marinara and Alfredo sauces for dipping. We knew after eating these the main course could only be just as amazing in taste. My wife and I both settled for the Chicken Marsala after debating for a long time what I eat. I wanted the pizza after looking around at other tables, but was rewarded with a very enjoyable meal non the less. Service was excellent and attentive. They even offered to move my wife and I when a group of 4 adults and six kids were to be seated at the large table next to us. We have kids and politely declined. We would not hesitate for a moment to eat here again and will definitely do so next time we are ever in town.

I've been hanging in Ketchum for the past 16 years and have never eaten here until tonight. Usually because it was so busy. Finally had the chance on a spring night with the sun setting out on the patio. The vibe is relaxing. The food was fantastic. What made it for me was the great owner that mingled with the guests and was down to earth and sincere. The rest of his staff were the same. I will eat here frequently just to support a business owner that has fun with his guests and staff.

Some decent food after a long, cold day. Everyone was more or less happy with they're food. The best thing to get was definitely the pizza. While the pizza was good they definitely need to invest in a ventilation system for all the pizza baking they do. HOLY CRAP! It was so smoky in that joint. It didn't do any good for our appetites to walk in a cloud of Italian smoke.

Awesome food and excellent service. We had the meatball appy and it lived up to it's reputation. All in all we had a very nice Valentines Day dinner.

Lots of people recommended this spot to us so we figured it had to be great! We ordered a cheese pizza which I really didn't like however my son liked it. It was a bit on the spicy side. My husband had the chicken Marsala he said it was ok. When you walk in you are blasted with smoke from the pizza kitchen. Maybe it doesn't bother some people but for me it's not what I enjoy smelling while trying to enjoy a meal. Needs better ventilation! I would say this spot it ok! Not on my list of places to go back to.

So, so food. Went on a Thursday night at 8pm. Busy, only place we could get in last minute. Our waiter and drinks and salad came fairly fast, entree took a long time. The capreese salad was under seasoned and swimming in oil. I had the puttanesca pasta, pretty spicy, nothing special. My husband had the veal Marsala, little medallions, breaded, on a big pile of bland pasta. The pizza there looked good, maybe safer to order that.

My family has gone to Rico's for such a very long time, and they never disappoint. Whether it is completely empty or crammed in, they provide good service and good food. Need an example? My mother thought ah had received an email that Rico's was trying out a new dessert-cannoli. Of course, we all love cannoli, so we stopped by right away to try it. When we got there, Rico himself (a great guy), told us he had no idea where the cannoli thing came from..but he would be happy to put in a special order since we were so excited. It tasted amazing, and they added it to their menu;) Finally, tonight, we rolled back into town and went to Rico's. Rico gave us a big hello, and a nice table, and we had a great time. (I highly recommend their GF crust-doesn't taste like GF at all!!) Our server was great, always on hand and providing us with more water, breadsticks, or help whenever he could. I highly recommend this place. An excellent choice for all ages.

This is certainly your best option for casual Italian in Ketchum/ Sun Valley area. The clam suave app was very very tasty. Perfect sauce. Meatball app equally good with marinara, cheese and balsamic reduction sauces The dolce salad, house specialty, is delightful: candied nuts, basaltic, gorgonzola cheese! Yum. And we loved the puttanesca! Just the right amount of spice. The only out-of-place element was this heavy, greasy cheese bread they serve with the clams and the pasta. It was like the frozen garlic loaf from the grocer. The cheese was like a cheddar? In an Italian restaurant? And so heavy that it could not be used to soak up all the wonderful sauces! The heavy cheddar taste ruined the light and rich sauces we wanted to absorb. Seemed like a really strange choice. They will give you a glass of light and airy breadsticks upon arrival. Ask for more of those, ( no refill), and let them keep the cheese toast.

The were very patient when my wife wanted to taste six wines before deciding. I have to put up with that shit but the waiter was so very nice. Rico seated us...nice man....nice looking place. I had pizza because I like a good thin crust. It was great and even better after skiing the next day. Wife had eggplant and she loved it. Breadsticks...liked the sauce to dip in, but I prefer softer bread. I think this was pretty decent as Italian goes and not to pricey. I will be back....but wait...there is one more thing.... The very best restrooms in Idaho. Dozens of pictures of local dogs...I loved it. I wish my dog was up there. I guess you need to have some clout to make it...and of course, my wife said they were even better in the ladies room.

Food was ok - not bad, but also not great. However the service and the ambiance needs work. Service was slow and rather indifferent. The table we were seated at was outside in an area that was infested with gnats - maybe if we had an inside table this problem would have been avoided. Also, our seats were cheap plastic chairs, and there was food debris under the table. Finally, this seems to be a popular place for families and as such there were a number of rowdy children present the night we were there.

Like Despo's, Rico's is not a 5 star restaurant, so I can't give it 5 stars. However, you can't get any better for casual Italian dining. The restaurant is always busy with locals and tourists. You walk in and see the busy kitchen with pizzas and flames shooting up for the pasta sauces. Everything is wonderful. Portions are large, but not overly. The fresh broccoli is a must on any pasta, as is the sautéed spinach. The salads are delicious and there are always freshly baked breadsticks on the table as you sit down!! A must do when in town!!

Their gluten free pizza is delish! We had a pesto based pie with goat cheese, fresh tomato and olives...wonderful. And the meat pizza-also good. Server was prompt and friendly-the staff was all smiles despite being incredibly busy and on a wait. We will definitely visit again!!

I love this place. Everytime I have been to Sun Valley, my boyfriend and I have come here. This has been our date night spot. We have gotten spectacular service every time. It does get crowded and there can be a wait, but make a reservation and you'll be fine. Food is pretty darn good.

It's as good as it gets because if you like homemade Italian food, without an attitude, this place is it. Go beyond the spaghetti and meatballs and let them make you a one of the house specials. Great shrimp dish (Spezia del vita?). I've had the pizza too; the BBQ chicken (ROJO) is my fav. The staff is friendly in true Ketchum style- laidback but surprisingly professional.

Rico's is the best spot in Ketchum to take the family. Right on main street, with a great patio in the summer months. Wonderful assortment of authentic italian food....my fav is the meat filled calzone. They do take out and delivery too. Rico is the man!

Drinks came quick, they had plenty space but our orders took a long time to come. Pizza was thin crust, crunchy and very well made, the wine tasted fresh and the salads were well prepared. When we complained about the long wait we got wine for free. The waitress was a bit busy and didn't check back very often but they seemed concerned about us in the end.

About 2 times a month, we go to RICO's for dinner. It is great for the whole family as the menu is diverse and YUMMY! With over 20 pasta dishes, deck oven pizza and salads, what is not to love? Last time I had a tomato sauce over sauteed spinach and mushrooms...and for dessert: the chocolate chip cookie served warm and smothered in ice cream. My friend had pasta in a light and creamy lemon sauce.....wow! Check out Rico's in Ketchum. It rocks!

Love me some Rico's Pizza! This is the place to go when you're needing that Italian fix after a long day on the mountain. A good mix of locals who know what's up and tourists who just found a real gem. Our last experience was with a large group. Rico's was very accommodating. The waitstaff did a great job making sure drinks were constantly refilled, orders were correctly taken and food served piping hot. The food is always delicious and is very close to authentic. Their wine list is decent but could use a few more California wines. What's nice about Rico's is it isn't too fancy, but it's not too casual either. You can go for a romantic meal or a quick hunger killer meal with friends. Either way, you will leave full, satisfied and still have some change in the pocket for a couple drinks at Pioneer. I also love the bathrooms. First off, they're clean, but more importantly, they are of all the local dogs in Sun Valley/Ketchum. Who knows, maybe there are a few out of state dogs too. To prove Rico's is a good catch, the local grocers and convenience stores sell their refrigerated brand of pizzas. It's not quite the same, but it does taste good!

This is a nice option in Ketchum for Italian food - especially for a group. The tables can be moved around so that you could even accommodate 20+. This is a relaxed, come-as-you-are and enjoy some good portions, decent Italian food type of restaurant. Small but tasty wine list. Easy on the wallet. Casual bustling atmosphere. Recommended.

At first service was good, but then we were ignored for awhile and unable to order more drinks (tried 3-4 times to flag the waitress down.) Took almost an hour to get our food after ordering. The pizza (regular crust with a variety of toppings) wasn't bad, wasn't special. Decent wine list.

We were trying to find a quick place to stop in for a bite and a few drinks, and Rico's was all we could come up with. When we arrived at Rico's, they told us that it would take 15 minutes for us to be seated. Considering that we had at least an hour wait for the Pioneer, we thought we would have plenty of time to have a snack. It took 15-20 minutes for us to be seated, and we ordered the quickest things we could find on the menu - the cheesy garlic bread and chicken tenders. Those items were pretty standard and nothing particularly special, but the food did come out in about 10-15 minutes. I wasn't very impressed with our hostess or with the waiter; the waiter was pretty curt, and we had to be very proactive in ordering and getting the bill even though we told him we were in a rush.

Excellent for a pleasurable meal. Good service. Tasty pizzas but not with an "after the softball game" noisy atmosphere. Great for a reliable meal on vacation and the locals recommend it, too.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
