JC’s Peruvian Cuisine

200 E 6th St

Reviews:
This new restaurant continues to surprise with inventive Peruvian Cuisine and traditional favorites. The ceviche is a sensational summer appetizer, but could also be a light entree, the portion is so large and served in a big martini glass. The grilled artichoke is also a great starter. Rotisserie chicken is the specialty, but the menu is carried with lots of shellfish and other fresh seafood. Last night, the specialty was Puget Sound oysters with either lemon juice or the ceviche sauce. The wine list offers some accessible South American Malbecs as well as Napa standbys and economical carafe house wines that pair well with the cuisine. We have returned again and again to this little Peruvian bistro, and now the terrace is open for summer.
This gem is Ketchum's new best deal for a fantastic dinner. We ended up here on a date night whim and couldn't have been more pleased with the delightful service and exceptional food. The chef, Jhony, takes great pride is his authentic Peruvian cuisine and it shows in each dish we had. The ceviche was fresh and tangy while our entrees were savory and hearty. The chicken was full of flavor and perfectly moist. Do yourself a favor and skip the over priced steaks you'll find elsewhere in town and stop by JC's instead. You won't be disappointed.
Such a sweet cozy new place in Ketchum. Food is beautifully presented, great portion size, very reasonable prices and all 4 of us loved everything we ordered - ceviche, lomo steak, ribs- but all with sauces to die for. The owner Johnny is from the Andes in Peru and is very welcoming.

Wow... the service is GREAT... and the helpers are really knowledgeable of the wines and their background. It has a good variety and choices of wines ... of course, the ambience is just great both inside and the view of the Baldy mountain. They provided bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, so you felt like you're in Italy with the interior design. Love to hang-out in this place & will come back !!!
Perfect place in town for a light lunch or snacking and wine tasting. Try the generous clouds of candy-like burrata that spread on crostinis like butter, the tender smoked trout served in big filets with capers, or in a sandwich with creamy brie. The crisp cracker-thin flatbreads are big enough to share and made with great modern flavor combinations and lots of toppings. We have the flatbread du jour with prosciutto and parmesan, fig and date drizzle - the leftovers were just as good the next day. Locally sourced ingredients - great menu. Caesar salad needed extra dressing. Have wine by the glass from the well-curated list or buy a bottle from the terrific in-store selection and only pay a $5 corkage. I recommend a bottle of white burgundy with your snack or lunch. Service is great. Best view in town from the second story patio. There are only a handful of tables.
Ask for Craig because he is an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable wine connoisseur.

Much less expensive than Taste of Thai in Hailey. Good size portions. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food arrived quickly. Update 3/7/13 Love this place! The staff now recognizes me and I can pretty much order my 'usual'. I think the prices have gone up slightly, but still very reasonable for the portions. I highly recommend the Pad See Ew, Tom Kah soup, and Fresh Rolls. Definitely have to give them 5 stars now!
I loved the fresh flavors and fresh vegetables in my Curry Special. My only negative would be that the restaurant was dead dead dead and the 2 hostess/waitresses were very chatty and quite loud in the main dining room. I wish they'd gone in the back to talk. Also while one of them was taking our order she stopped to answer the phone? What? Why didn't the "obviously new" second waitress answer it?
The service is amazing and the food is really good expecially the sweet and sour chicken and it was pretty cheap. I highly recommend this restaurant

Wow. I had Chicken Marsala and it was the best I have ever had. Proceeded by the best Cesar I have ever had. I am picky too. The service was great. The charming small restaurant atmosphere was wonderful. I have never given a 5 star to any restaurant. We are from Seattle and have numerous good restaurants. Sun Valley you are lucky to have this gem. Hw about a satellite in Seattle.
Cute little place. Very nice, friendly staff. I'd eat there again. Seems like a locals place where you might get better service if you knew someone who worked there. We had the beet salad, the crab cake, the grilled avo salad, and the squid. The food was all pretty good, if a little boring. The beet salad was just... some beets with a goat cheese smear. I love a good beet salad, but they take a little effort to make interesting. The grilled avo was also interesting as a concept. Pretty good. Again, not terribly interesting or flavorful. Likewise for the calamari and crab cake. Good. Not great. The crab cake, in particular, was pretty salty and heavy with a cream sauce on the crab. The service, while friendly, was distracted with chatting and slow. We started signaling our intent to leave with our utensils, then our napkins on our plates, then flat-out verbally asking for the check... and waiting... while people chatted and meandered around. We're definitely not type-A, but it was pretty comical how long it took. Decent place for dinner, and I think it might be a good hang-out if you want to get a bottle of wine and just chat the night away.
One of the best new restaurants and Ketchum and Sun Valley. I highly recommend it. The food was exceptional on all levels. I will shoot some pictures and post them here. The atmosphere is fantastic as well. Just the right amount of light and music. I highly recommend.

Leroy’s Ice Cream

Reviews:
Delicious creamy ice cream in center of Ketchum! Great treat on a lazy afternoon. Deer tracks and orange were extra yummy. Limited flavors.
Every cute town has a cute little ice shop and Sun Valley/Ketchum is no exception. I believe the local Toni's Ice cream* supplies Leroy's with their ice cream and it's delicious. I do wish they had more frozen yogurt flavors (just vanilla), but then again vacations are all about splurging on treats like ice cream. I splurged on a cup of butter pecan, which you can never go wrong with. So good! And my husband seemed just as pleased with his cup of mint chip. Leroy's is an outside shop right in the heart of Ketchum so we sat on a nearby bench and enjoyed the night that was just as lovely as our ice cream. It can sometimes get a bit chilly during summer nights in Sun Valley so in that case we likely would have taken our ice cream to go, but nice to eat outside when possible. Good stuff. * yelp.com/biz/tonis-sun-v…
Probably my favorite shop in all of Ketchum. The ice cream is locally sourced. The flavors include the standard chocolate, vanilla, cookies and creme, mint chip, chocolate chip, etc...and then specialty flavor like salted caramel, toasted coconut, Lemon bar, cinnamon... The scoops are usually massive. If you like ice cream and are in Ketchum, this is a MUST!

Galena Lodge

Highway 75
Ketchum, 83340
Reviews:
Every time I'm in Sun Valley I like to break up the downhill experience with a day of nordic skiing at Galena Lodge about 20 miles north of Ketchum up Highway 75. With affordable rentals, an extensive network of trails (some dog friendly, fyi) and a cozy lodge, Galena's a thoroughly high quality, low key experience and a Sun Valley must. Pros -Trails - lots to choose from with a wide range of technical difficulty and length to suit skiers of all abilities. -Dog Friendly - -Good food and drinks at the lodge. -Power - when Ketchum went dark on the Christmas-day blackout, Galena fired up their generator and was cooking with gas. -Snow - at the north end of the Wood River Valley, Galena gets more snow than other nordic trail systems in the area. -Scenery - close to the high peaks of the Boulder and Smoky Mountain chains. -Affordable - even with gear rentals and trail fees, this is the least expensive good time to be had in Sun Valley. Cons -None that I can think of.
Stopped for lunch here after a morning hike to Baker Lake. Bruce Innes was playing music on the deck on a beautiful, warm July day. The food was delicious (all homemade, using fresh, organic ingredients), the waitstaff was friendly, attentive and made us feel more like we were lunch guests at their home, rather than customers at a restaurant. They also have an extensive beer, wine and alcohol selection...perfect for lounging in the lawnside Adirondack chairs listening to music. I highly recommend...this is a gem of a mountain lodge!
Gelena is a great place to go when visiting Sun Valley. We traveled up there to go skate/nordic skiing. It is beautiful, allows dogs (for a $5 fee), and is a great alternative to downhill skiing. You can rent boots, nordic skis and poles and the map is easy to read. There is a nice restaurant (try the elk burger!) after your work-out. And you'll need it! If you forget gloves or hats or even your coat, there is a gift shop, too.

This restaurant is the estranged cousin of the SuperMex chain in SoCal. The menu and food are almost identical. It is a breath of fresh air for the Ketchum area because it surpasses Despy's as previously mentioned. It is greasy, but delectable. Enjoy a giant silo of beer on the friendly patio and be happy that decent Mex food has finally made it to Ketchum!
Great food. Great prices.

Pioneer Saloon

Reviews:
The pioneer saloon was top notch from the beginning to the end. They really have got it figured out. The service was absolutely amazing. As soon as we walked in they took our name and told us that it would be about a 30 minute wait. We said Ok and they then had us take a seat in the waiting lobby. While waiting they served us some delicious chips and salsa and water. Once we got seated the server instantly filled our waters and started to take our drink orders. Throughout the whole meal we were thoroughly impressed with the service. At no point during the meal did we think they were slow or not keeping an eye on us. Every meal ordered at our table was delicious. The portions were big and the prices were very reasonable. The grilled shrimp were great and so was the chicken and steak skewer. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is great. It looks like something you would see in the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I will be back for sure next time I visit sun valley.
Great place for dinner, awesome western ambiance. I got the beef kebabs with a baked potato, I'd highly recommend it and get it again. The beef was really tender and juicy. My party got various other items (steaks, shrimp, salmon) and they really enjoyed them. I've been coming to Sun Valley for years and don't know why I've never been here, will definitely return next summer.
Coming from Las Vegas, my expectations of good dining is high. This restraunt is great in comparison to most offerings in Sun Valley. GREAT staff, excellent fresh produce, good presentation, a little pricey but it's a steakhouse. In all, I highly recommend this place for dinner in Sun Valley

Grumpy’s

Reviews:
If you come to Sun Valley and you don't have a stick up your a$$, then you should go to Grumpy's, get a burger, a schooner and kick back with locals. The place is strangely inviting for a locals spot, the bar tenders/ chefs actually say "Hi" and want to help you, no matter how packing the place is. Even if you are from out of town. The crowd rotates every 30 minutes or so, which means if you get a beer and wait a bit, you will find a seat. Now the burgers... the epic bar burger is what you get at Grumpy's. It is not a high brow burger that have become so popular (and I love), it is a bar burger that never, ever disappoints. When you pair this with an ice cold beer from the tap you can't beat it. For this fact, Grumpy's will always be in the top 3 best burgers in Sun Valley!
I've always enjoyed grumpy's and I always try to get there at least once when I visit sun valley. The burgers are great and the beer is cold. The atmosphere is completely different from other eating establishments and I appreciate that. The service can be a little rough at times. The line cooks definitely don't care what the crowd hears during a rush. But take it for what it is. Enjoy the good food and dive bar feel.
Yes, the beer was cold and the Shooner was a cool touch... The service was seemingly good for the locals/regulars, but quite poor for this guy and my date... Although the kitchen looked a little scary, I would have tried the burger, but my princess of an date was a little scared so we decided to eat elsewhere... If your looking for a reminder of your local hometown greasy spoon, dark bar, pull a chair up to the bar and act like a local... Don't however wear your finest, and don't bring a date who doesn't appreciate a good 'dive bar'. I will come back to try the food, and see if the service is better sitting at the bar top.

Fresh salads, wraps breakfast served all day. Friendly staff. Seating in doors out out side. Coffee bar and is very good. All natural organic ingredients.
I have been coming here for 3 years and have never been disappointed. The bagel breakfast sandwiches are my favorite with jalapeño cream cheese. The roast turkey sandwich on a bagel is awesome for lunch. 2 years ago I discovered their gazpacho soup and can't get enough of it. It is the best I have ever had. Can't wait until the new location across the street opens.
The new location is gorgeous, the food is terrific and the staff is lovely! Also, the bread is really excellent. Highly recommended.
