Good as always. I grew up here and visit in the summertime so have had the chance to visit Daanens many times over the last twenty years. The owner is a little gruff, but he always has been. The food is excellent and fresh. The service is a little slow. That being said, once you get your food and a beverage it's very nice.

Amazing sandwiches! One of our first stops when we get here from Vegas!!! So glad our friends took us here!

Freshest sandwiches around. Squishy, delicious bread and the best pea salad I've had. I've been going for almost 2 decades. Rumor is owners may be selling, I hope the ingredients remain the same.

If you know the difference between 16 ounces and 22 ounces, you may want to consider going to a place that knows the difference as well. My last visit to Daanen's was very disappointing and actually insulting. I ordered a 22 oz beer and a sandwich and was given a 16 oz pint glass with my sandwich. I explained to the waitress that I was wanting the "larger" beer, and she proceeded to demonstrate with water out of a 12 oz glass getting poured into a 16 oz pint glass to miraculously explain how I was actually getting a 22 oz beer. Despite numerous tables around us having the larger 22 oz glasses, the waitress was defiant in her explanation of how I was truly getting what I was ordering even though I wasn't and still had to pay the 22 oz price. This has definitely changed my opinion of ever going back.

The food is good, but pricey for a deli sandwich. It is (was) a good location to go for lunch. Here is why I won't be back: While ordering lunch today, this little dog walked out from behind the food handling area and wondered into the back of the restaurant. I like dogs, but not in a restaurant. Where does the thing poop? This is just gross.

Great beer selection, laid back atmosphere, and the best sandwiches and sides around. Support your local businesses and check this place out. This is definitely one of the best kept secrets in North Idaho. The bread is amazing, and you can find just about any wine and beer you want.

Daanens has great food and a huge selection of good beers and wines. They offer special evening activities from Music to Wine Tasting. They have both hot and cold food, and will have your order to you with alacrity. That said, Mark is a mean person. He will be abusive to his customers and staff. In the kitchen he has been known to yell and throw things. Eat here at your own risk there's lots of good food around the area.

I've been coming to Daanen's for about twenty years, starting back when they would hold the annual Oktoberfest celebration at their old location. When they moved, they took the opportunity to make space for a beer and wine selection that rivals many grocery stores. They've also got a lot of great imported chocolates! To me, the sandwiches are what really stand out. They're made to order with a sheet of options to fill. The bread is made fresh locally, and has been the same perfect softness for as long as I can remember. A few people have complained that they're too expensive, but you get what you pay for here, and you'll still pay a lot more for a burger downtown. I live in the Seattle area now, but every time I come back, Daanen's is literally the first place I stop, before I even say hi to my own mother. They're also the last place I stop on the way out, a sandwich or two for the road. I've known the family for years, and they're great people who've built a great deli and wine bar. Enjoy!

Daanen's is one of CDA's best kept secrets. This extraordinary delicatessen slash wine slash beer haus is one of my all time favorites. Each time I goto Daanen's I wonder why I don't eat there more often. Ordering is fun and easy, you fill out your own food ticket by highlighting your desired ingredients. Today I selected French bread, turkey, bacon, provolone, cream cheese, tomato, lettuce, mayo, mustard. Customizing your sandwich is half the fun of eating at Daanen's. All the ingredients are very fresh and the bread is out of this world. I highly recommend the French, the best way to describe the bread is soft and fluffy. Other than the scrumptious sandwiches they have plenty of other homemade items such as baked mac n cheese and some killer lasagna.

Daanen's Deli is a "DOG" and pony show!!! Mark (the owner?, and his minion cook), are the biggest assholes in the restaurant business I've ever seen! His wife is very nice but ferm. Mark seems to cater only to his friends and anyone else is an "OUTSIDER". Daanen's is Mark's wifes last name, and she should get more credit than what this douche bag deserves. The Kitchen consist of...TWO DOUBLE ELECTRIC HOT PLATE BURNERS, FOUR MICROWAVE OVENS, AND AN OVEN FIT FOR A MEATLOAF at best!!! When Mark makes a sandwich, he pulls his (sanitary gloves) out of his back pocket, puts them on, makes the sandwich, then puts them back into his back pocket. THIS GUY IS A CREEP!!!

I had heard that there was great German food at this restaurant. I fully intended to get a sandwich and work on my computer. The sign outside said they provided wifi. However when I came in and a asked the owner about the wifi he said he was very busy cooking. He said some say it work others say it don't. I assume they didn't want my business so I turned around and walked out and went to one of the local sandwich shops nearby who were more than willing 2 take my money buy some lunch andlet me work on my computer. This was the 2nd time I have been in that restaurant and treated very rudely. Leaving without buying anything. There was nothing friendly about that place at all.

So Daanen's is not what I would consider a full service deli, because you aren't going to walk in and order a pound of sliced meat, cheese and bread. But there is a wide selection of cold salads, made to order deli sandwiches, hot entrees, and deserts. There are about six beers on tap, mostly German which they specialize in, and seating both outdoors and indoors. The other major attraction to this store is the beer and wine selection. Whoever decides what beer and wine to bring into this shop should be applauded. This store has a great selection of European, local Northwest Microbrews and a few surprise beers from the middle of the country. You can mix and match six packs, find singles, or even buy six packs. There is a refrigerated section of beers or shelves of room temperature beers. I was very surprised to find this place in Coeur D'Alene of all places.

Good deli sandwiches, excellent cookies and decent selection of beers. They always have soup, quiches, and homemade lasagna on display and always look tasty. If you're in the area and hungry, opt here instead of fast food.

Ok, first of all this place is much more than a deli. They have a full menu with some really wonderfull meals with spaetzel, gingersnap gravy, cheeses, beef rouladen and many other items. You can't go wrong. I love to just head in and have one of their beers on tap, have a bavarian pretzel with horseradish cheddar dip and snack on a lanjaeger (hard sausage) or two. If you're looking for something different they have a huge selection of beers back in the cooler and they will open any one of them up for you on the spot. Their wine selection is equally good. So sure, Daanen's has a great deli, but if that's all you think of this place for then you're missing out!

I have eaten at a TON of Deli's in my life......(50 yrs!!) This is by FAR one of the BEST deli's around! The Sourdough bread is the best (I would assume it's Homemade) bread anywhere! You get alot of meat on every sandwich, I can only eat a half of a sandwich..:) Their homemade soups are some of the best as well!! We plan on making this one of our Regular Stops weekly:)
