Yes the place is small and crowded, and so the serves is off or a little slow, that being said it is one of the best breakfasts I have had any place west of the rockies. They make homemade chicken fried steak not like the frozen pre breaded crap you get almost any place else you go. They also make their own hash browns, again not the prefrozon crap you get most the time. I think they make their own biscuits too. So find a seat, get a cup of joe, talk to the friendly locals, enjoy one of the best breakfasts you can find and walk out the door full and saying "Damn that was good"!! P.S. When we go to the selway every year the hilltop is on my mind till I get me some of the homemade chicken fried steak!!

We ate at Hilltop restaurant on way to Lewiston. This is absolutely great place to eat. The food is really great tasting and their prices won't break your bank. The owner has a super personality and has a real quick wit. We enjoyed talking to her. We enjoyed the atmosphere with the local clientele and the great food so much that we timed our trip back so we could eat lunch there again. The burgers are as good as I and my friend have eaten. Our wives had their Reuben and loved it. The tuna sandwich they had on way back was very good too. Wish I lived closer I would frequent the Hilltop more

The best breakfast in Grangeville, Hilltop is a regular greasy spoon with a good breakfast and lunch menu. They have specials during week on both breakfast and lunch items. If I want to go out for breakfast Hilltop is where I will go. That said.....They're slow. It's not about time of day or how many people are in there, I've never got my food in less than 30 minutes. But if you have the time, it's worth it.

Good fresh food. Pancakes larger than the platter they are served on and good service. If you are in the area - stop by. It is worth a side trip!

We live in Boise and wish we had a place just like Hilltop there. Amazing food and huge portions. Sit at the counter and chat with the owner.

Huge servings of most foods for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, they usually close by 3pm. The service is often hap-hazard if busy at all.
