Coming from LA to visit we decided to stop by after seeing a "complimentary mimosas" sign, after walking in and getting greeted with friendly service we sat down and enjoyed our delightful mimosas and superb coffee! We ordered the chicken fried steak, blue moose breakfast, and huevos rancheros breakfast. Probably the best huevos rancheros we have ever had!!! The owner came outside to see how we were enjoying our meal, super personable and had a lovely conversation. With such friendly service and insanely yummy food, you would be crazy to not stop by and try it!

Decided to stop by for a quick bite for lunch with my best friend who had said such high things about this cafe. For one I have never been here before. So when I walked in there was a lady doing something on her laptop and I had asked if we order at the bar or seat our selfs. And the lady looked up from her laptop and told us to sit somewhere and that the menus were on the table. The blue paper menus were hard to read. And everything was 9.95. I had ordered the California club. Mine was good. My best friends was not. Hers was just thrown together and the Turkey was bad. Our sandwiches were served with tortilla chips and a bowl of ranch. I don't know why tortilla chips were served with our sandwiches instead of fries. After we finished our meal our server came over to our table and set down a little cup of brownies and ice cream. And said "complementary deserts on the blue moose cafe" and walked away. So we thought "cool! A free dessert!!" But when we got the pay check she had charged us for the brownies and ice cream. We were very confused on how complementary turned into full price. Before we left another table had come in and they had the same served as we did. And she was supper nice to that table and sat down to talk to them and told them that they were getting a new menu and some things on the new menu that she could make them today. She did not say anything to me and my friend about the new menu. She seemed like she just wanted to get our order and move on. I would not recommend this to anyone I know.

From my first and only experience, this is what I gained. We decided to try to grab a late breakfast, around 11:30am on a Saturday. We arrived and we seated promptly by our server. As we were looking at the breakfast menu, she comes over to tell us that it is now lunch time and gives us said menu. No more breakfast. Even though it states on every website that breakfast runs until one on Saturdays. Another couple came in right after us and got up and left after the owner told them that it was too slow to keep breakfast on and it was costing her money. ???????? We ordered two sandwiches from our waitress. She brought them out and then disappeared, LITERALLY Never came back to check on us. Never came back to refill water or drinks. She was gone. When we were done eating our normal sandwiches (not worth more than $4), the owner/cook came and grabbed our plates and told us to come to the register to pay. She had some sort of eczema on her hands, which immediately turned me off to the food prep. She was also very off putting. In a bad mood as she explained that this was not normal for a Saturday and it was generally busier. I'm all for local businesses, but she is getting it all wrong on so many levels. Her Saturday's are going to get worse and worse if she doesn't change a few things.

Well I messed up big time...didn't look at yelp reviews before deciding to come here for Saturday breakfast. We used to come here for lunch which was great years ago, but today was just awful! The menu is very limited and what my asked for was no longer available even though it was listed. What she wound up ordering came and I waited several minutes for my food...bad form! Lots of excuses, had to cut the ham, out of that etc. There are way too many good places to eat in and around Eagle to waste time and money going here. If zero stars was an option, I'd have selected it.

I was here yesterday for an outdoor wedding. The food was very bland... nothing special, at all. I think it was the owner that was helping serve dinner and she was really rude to some of the guests. Not only that, but half way through the event, she was serving food barefoot! Going in and out of the restaurant barefoot. I get that the wedding was very casual but I'm pretty sure she was breaking some health codes by walking in and out of the restaurant barefoot. I thought it was pretty disrespectful to the whole event and guests to think it's ok to just kick your shoes off when you're getting paid to play host. I wouldn't ever come here again...

Went to Blue Moose for breakfast today. My husband's family really liked it and wants to take us. First the waitress completely ignored my presence and I had to say loudly, but politely, that I too would like a cup of coffee. We were one of two occupied tables in the restaurant yet it took forever to be served. Our coffee was warm, not hot, and by the time she came back to refill mine had been empty for ages and my husband's was cold. Nobody complained though. The waitress seemed nice enough when when both my husband and I had to rethink our orders because what we had requested had not been prepped that day, but when he was going to the bathroom he heard her in the kitchen complaining about our table, saying we were fussy and unsatisfied by the options. Next thing we know, orders are coming out wrong, half the food arrives but we have to wait another 10 minutes for the rest of the food, and the check arrived within 2 minutes of us all getting our breakfast (the only thing that was served quickly). Through all this we were polite and friendly, understanding of the wait time, and smiled and nodded when asked about the food (even though the food was mediocre at best) because we were raised with good manners. Overall, bad experience. The food is NOT worth the bad service.

Great new Cuban. I substituted Dijon mustard instead and it was outstanding. Also I like the new table service vs standing in line. My wife & daughter had the chicken salad on specialty 4 seed bread. All outstanding.

Quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown Eagle. The atmosphere felt as though we were enjoying a meal, decades ago, in a quiet friendly town. One server on staff, so refills and extra needed items took a while to request and/or receive. Food was delicious! I ate the Catalina sandwich and was very pleased with my meal. Homemade corn chips were yummy too! If you're ordering wine, ask for free wine tasting before deciding on what you'd like!!

There's space inside for large group gathering. And I think the owner does have a intense personality.

I'm not sure what happened to this once great little cafe in Eagle. I used to eat there frequently and my favorite was the Blue Moose Maytag Chicken Salad. I took my hubby there last night for a wine tasting/appetizer Groupon deal, and we had every intention of eating dinner also. Upon arriving, I asked a server if we ordered inside or just down and were waited on. She directed me to take a seat at a table outside and someone would be by to take our orders. She was right... sorta. We took a seat and about 15 minutes later were given waters. We waited another 30 minutes and never did get menus or further acknowledgement so we left, disappointed. Before leaving I peeked inside the cafe and found that wine tasting had to be done inside, in a extremely hot room, so that would not have worked anyway, although we'd have been satisfied to just have gotten a meal. Such a shame from what was once a delightful place in Eagle to eat.

We've eaten at Blue Moose twice in the distant past and it was pretty good. Today we went and ordered 2 sandwiches, 1 wrap, and 3 sodas. All their fountain drinks were "out of order" so we had a can of soda. The soda wasn't even cold - must have just been put in the cooler. The total for 2 sandwiches, 1 wrap, and 3 warm cans of soda was $40. I was skeptical when we were ordering because behind the counter was very unclean - the microwave looked disgusting. Employees had gloves on, but scratching your head while wearing a glove and then returning to preparing food defeats the purpose. After literally 30 minutes our food came out. I had turkey & avocado. When I first looked at it I about took it right back for avocado, but once I pulled it apart I found the 2 tiny paper thin slices of avocado. I picked off the mostly white tomato and wilted lettuce. My daughter's ham sandwich was toasted on one side, untoasted and soggy on the other side. My husband's wrap had meat on the first half he ate, no meat on the second half so he didn't eat much of the second half. I was surprised that we didn't get a small bag of chips, but instead some warm strange coleslaw that none of us liked. $40 was expensive in my opinion for what we got and how long it took. I definitely will not be returning. Sorry. It has been much better in the past.

I'm generally not keen on "lunch". Salads and sandwiches just don't excite me. Mr. L has been coming to Eagle (on business) for years. He's been raving about the Blue Moose to me before I'd ever set foot in Idaho. It's simple, clean, the owner comes up with great flavours. There are your classic chicken caesars, tuna, maytag....and the more unique combinations. I quite like the roast beef sandwich, the beef is perfectly tender with cheddar melted on top, sauteed onions and tomatoes on toasted sourdough with mayo. There's usually some sort of decadent sweet on the counter. I love to walk in, order, get my drink....debated with myself about having the brownie.....get it....pick away while my sandwich and salad are prepared. The wine bar is a big plus. Great atmosphere.

In my eyes eating out is more than just "filling the void". Spending time with friends, enjoying a meal, having an experience are equally important to the quality of the food. If my only criteria was "tastes good" than the sandwiches at Blue Moose pass. But tasty sandwiches is about all Blue Moose has going for it. The service is exceptionally poor. Sometimes small business owners forget that they are in business for the convenience of their customers and not the other way around. Pet peeve #1 they don't accept credit cards. I know it is a hassle to deal with the credit card co's and pay the 2% for their service, but the future is here and it's plastic. There are cola vending machines that take credit cards. nuff said. Blue Moose is overly expensive. If it was a full services bistro than I would not complain but $12 is a little steep for a sandwich I order at a counter and is cooked on a wal-mart griddle.

Worst place ever! We were almost the only people here and it took 30 minutes to get our food. Which they don't wear gloves to make...eww! When asked about our food the lady was a biz natch and said when you have grilled onions it takes awhile. They took forever and put food was wrong. And $23 for 2 veggies sandwiches that were gross and wrong. Ridiculous! This deserves 0 stars but was not an option.

Dunno what's going on at the Blue Moose, but I had heard great things. Finally tried it, meh, not very good at all. Ordered 8 lunches for a meeting, everything was very late (despite calling in the order the day before and getting a firm pick up time). The only thing memorable about our sandwiches was how marginal they were. Won't be going back.

Very cute place. I didn't like that all the ingredients in my salad were all chopped up. I like to have whole walnut/pecans, etc. not just rubble, and I didn't care for the dressing. I had similar salad at Bardenay and it blew their socks off. My husband liked his sandwich a lot though. I'd return to try something else though.

Darling place, popular and crowded, lots of personality, yummy sandwiches and extensive menu! If you go right at lunch time don't expect to get in and out fast, it isn't full service, order at the counter, etc. Little fireplace, open windows and outdoor area, good attention to accomodating kids. They could actually play up the moose theme a bit more, it's cute.

I Love this place! Very unique! Indoor and outdoor tables..Friday nights are an event! Great local live music, and great food! The Maytag salad is wonderful as well as the sandwiches. A great lunch place with lot's of charm! Unique atmosphere! Very "Moosey" little cafe. I'm a fan!

Food is good...sometimes. Just another little restaurant that is a bit slow, food is inconsistent, and they run out of stuff quite a bit. Parking is really bad at lunch. I think the restaurant was a lot better a few years ago when they were less busy. They, I believe, used to make homemade bread, service was better, and I went there about once a week I loved it so much. They just need to take a step back and reassess what's changed and how to get back to good, simple food, rather than worrying about changing up their hours and menu.

Went last night for the band which was the main reason for the visit. I can not understand how with such poor slop and service from pre-teens can sustain a business like this. They have a building in a unique location in a great town - bottom line that's it. I will not ever, ever return to the Blue Moose expecting more than poor service, cold food, and rude owners.

Blue Moose ... what happened? You were the place I could rely on for tasty, unique salads, wonderful sandwiches or scrumptious homemade bread. I talked you up for two weeks to an advanced esthetics class I was taking at the new CWI location in Eagle .... "Ooooh," I said to them at lunchtime, "we are so close to the Blue Moose, we NEED to try it at least one day these next two weeks!" There is no other restaurant in our area like Blue Moose, I raved. Our teacher was visiting from Chicago, staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, so she knew Bardennay and Lone Star inside and out ... but the Blue Moose ... I couldn't wait to treat her... The last day of class our teacher announced her supervising physician (a prominent facial plastic surgeon in Chicago) would be buying lunch for everyone ... where should we call? The BLUE MOOSE, I insisted. We ordered an assortment of sandwiches (from the online "Homemade Menu"), along with two salads to split among the 11 participants. We were told the sandwiches would be split so we could all share a little bit of everything. When our order was opened up, I was very disappointed. Not only did we not have the full selection of sandwiches we ordered, it looked like they had thrown together three different types of sandwiches only, all including some kind of ham, turkey or roast beef, with NO vegetarian options (we had ordered at least two vegetarian). Instead of the assorted sandwich breads mentioned in the menu, we had a choice of two types of bread. The two salads, supposed to accommodate 11 people, were regular size versions -- which, at most, would feed 4-6 people tops -- even as a side dish. My classmates didn't comment negatively, but, frankly, after all my raving, I was embarrassed with the meal. Things have certainly changed over the years, hours are all over the place -- yes, you are serving dinner; no, you're not open any more for dinner; there used to be entertainment during summer evenings ... what went wrong? I definitely won't be singing the praises of the Blue Moose in the future.

This placed used to be the best place to snag lunch in Eagle, but it has gone down hill over the last year. I am so bummed - really, really loved the Blue Moose. I went in to pick up a salad today and got there at 12:30 - there was only one table with people. I was shocked. There used to be a huge line everyday - place packed. When I got my food - the usual Maytag Bluecheese Salad - I got a clue why. For starters, there is no BlueCheese on the salad. Then, there was a big, disgusting piece of fried chicken fat in the salad. The salad is served with grilled chicken, so not sure where that came from - barely any grilled chicken in my salad. It was GROSS. I had ordrered a to-go ice tea and the owner tried to give me one of those red, plastic beer cups with no lid. She charged me for a large ice tea. I think she might have thrown that in - she said she was out of regular to-go cups. At lunch time on a Friday. Anyway, just sad in general. The old Blue Moose was amazing. If you are in Eagle, skip it - there are other places to eat.

A one-star review should be rare and intended to help others (customers, ownership). 1) Our food was served cool-to-the-touch, despite the restaurant being largely empty at 11:00 AM on a Sunday. 2) The French Toast was served with an odd lettuce piece remnant hiding under a slice. Sloppy plating in the kitchen that inspired little confidence in what was to follow. 3) Service was slow. 4) Sound was loud. It's like being in a glassed-in screen porch where acoustics are an afterthought. I like Eagle. I like places owned by people. I was just underwhelmed at each and every sensory opportunity. Sadly I will not return.

There really aren't any stars as this really can't be classified as a restaurant experience. Its more like a twilight zone. I wonder how this place is still in business. Perhaps they just live there and write off their home as a business expense. I'm pretty sure there's some kind of shady deal under all that nasty food and cheap wine. By the way, the owner posted the 5 star reviews. Pathetic.

I had lunch here with my wife and mother. The food was delicious. My mom ordered the fish tacos and I ordered a turkey sandwich. There were three fish tacos in the order and my mom couldn't eat them all and gave me one. I was loving my sandwich but ate the taco. I was only going to have a bite or two, but it was soooooo delicious I couldn't stop eating it. Consequently I went back a couple days later and got the fish tacos for myself. The service is great, always asking how you liked the food and for any suggestions. The owner came to our table and bounced ideas off of us. I have already been back and we definitely we make this a regular eating place.

You have to work pretty hard to find this place. Sadly, I should have paid more heed to the abundance of one and two star reviews here because those reviewers were correct. It is not worth the work to find it on any count. Cute location down a dead end side street just outside Eagle's downtown. But the good news ends there. Pass. See Maureen K's detailed review and you'll have the idea.

We let them know we were there and took the table right by the front door on the front patio. About ten minutes later we got menus and gave drink orders. The lunch menu had a lack luster amount of options. I asked if they could substitute Miracle Whip for the Mayo on a sandwich. They didn't have MW. Soup was on the menu also so I asked what the soup that day was. They weren't serving soup. I decided to just pass instead of being disappointed by food I didn't want at all. When the drinks came they only gave two straws to our table of six. No explanation. When we asked for more when they came back they told us they were out of straws. This place has a poor selection and very poor service. I would highly recommend anywhere before here. I will never return.

I pretty much love this place. It's our favorite place in Eagle to go to. I wish they did dinner more than just on friday nights! Friday nights are the best, esp. if you have kids. There's live music, and the kids can just run around and play on the lawn and use the little kids chairs and table set. Even one of the bands brought all their kids, and the mamma had a baby on her back the whole time she played! I agree with the others tho that the service could certainly be better. We just started helping ourselves to the cooler drinks on friday nights and telling them to put it on our tab at the end. I also agree it's a bit pricey, but I guess that's Eagle for ya. If they offer a bottle of wine, and you have any kind of budget, be sure to ask the price before saying 'yes'. Oh yeah, the food is pretty darned good, and my daughter and I love the 'moosey' atmosphere...takes us back to our days of living in Montana and Alaska, a breath of fresh air in this valley!

I really enjoy the sandwiches at the Blue Moose. My favorite is the Tuna which has chopped apples, celery, and mayo plus some simple seasonings served on whole wheat. We like some of the chicken and turkey sandwiches also. Service can be slow--it's better to do take out. Very personal attention and care taken in making the food--very fresh bread, meat, and vegetables.

This place is SO cute!! They have a really cute outdoor area and they also have a screened in porch area with a fire place as well as just a regular indoor area. I didn't try the coffee but my husband and I had a sandwhich and my MIL had a salad. She wasn't impressed with her salad but the sandwiches were amazing!! I'd go back for sure.

Took a couple of clients there for lunch. An elderly couple came in when we were standing in line and asked what the soup of the day was and was told it was not ready yet. It was 12;15! Should have been a clue for what became one of the worst meals and service I have ever had. My salad had little slivers of chicken and a horrible dressing, my clients sandwiches were very ordinary, could have taken them down the street to Blimpies and gotten better service and food. Then to top it off was told they do not like taking credit cards, wow. Will NEVER go back to this place again and can not believe they are still in business.

This is a charming and cozy place, I will give it that. Rustic decor, witty signs and quotes. Unfortunately, that's where it ended for us. I *really* wanted to love this place. I purchased an Amazon local deal for $10 worth $20 of food last May. The deal said only for "dinner" (which means the dinner "hour", the menu is the same) and only for Fri. or Sat. nights. We were running out of time so I called Sat. afternoon to make the required reservation and was told that they actually weren't open Sat. evenings, that was a misprint but they would honor it for other days including Sunday which worked out great for us. I said we'd be there the next day (Sun.) We arrived Sun. afternoon just before 2pm and were delighted to see a TV screen with a football game. We decided on a sandwich and a wrap and took a seat at the bar. We said we'd like to order a glass of wine each. There was a nice selection already opened and we took the owner's recommendation of the Zin. She poured us each a taste, we had a sip and decided to go with that one. It was really excellent. 2012 Lodi Old Vine Zin. She said she'd be glad to pour us a sample of the one next to it later on. After just a few minutes our sandwiches were brought to us with bagged chips. No silverware or napkins. At this point, the owner and the one other employee disappeared. We grabbed utensils from a nearby table. The owner was on the phone from nearly the time we walked in the door throughout our dining experience. That's OK. But we were the only patrons in the place, and not one time were we checked on or offered a refill on the one soda we purchased (I had a glass of water that I could refill on my own if I wanted, but didn't need to). We could have easily left without paying the bill, that's how left alone we were. When we were finally ready to go (it was about an hour) I had to seek out anyone in the place. I ended up going into the utility area and had to kind of wave and say excuse me (she was still on the phone call) that we were ready to pay our bill. She should be glad we were so honest. She ended the call, came out right away and we settled up. For service, I can't give anything more than one star and that is being generous. The food was decent, not anything special, and we were not offered a choice of side as the menu states. We were given a bag of chips that you would get at a Subway. I know this isn't a fast food joint, but $10 for a standard sandwich is overpriced, especially if you don't get more than a bagged side. Our bill came to $19.00 and change. So, we're looking at roughly $10 per glass of wine. Seriously? Even most upscale places don't charge that much. I did some research and the average price for the actual bottle of wine we drank from is $11. I'm sorry, but we felt ripped off. Imagine if we hadn't have "saved" $10 from the Amazon deal? The best part of this experience is that we know to look for a great Zinfandel at a crazy low price. I'm sure this would be a great place to do a wine tasting with a group-- that seems to be what they do best. But there are too many other places to go and grab a bite in this area (Eagle and Meridian alone) that give the impression they care about your business, as well as have better food for the price. (I didn't realize how applicable that "bad service" sign was. So, "truth in advertising" I guess??)

Went there with a Groupon. Owner very nice but the place is a complete joke! Paid about $40 to get this Groupon and for 4 glasses of cheep wine and two appetizers which were about a $5 value. Only open on Friday evenings and advertised live music but band was a no show.. (So we were told!) It has to be going under, save yourself the disappointment, lots of better choices in the area..

Went here with my grandparents for lunch. Wow, I can't believe this place has any ratings over 1 star-either those people have no taste buds or haven't been to a decent place. The reuben was inedible-I'm not kidding. Do yourself a favor and drive right past this place and to McDonalds if you're hungry. Absolute waste of money. My 80 year old grandma didn't even eat her sandwich. Leaky roof really topped off the experience, sandwiches are made on a griddle (the kind of griddle that is on sale on Black Friday for ten bucks).

Bought a groupon went there and they were out of wine because they had a party of 10 the night before. Nice setting so ordered lunch they didnt have 2 sandwiches i tried to order because of more excuses take it someone forgot to grocery shop, and forgot they own a restaurant and food is a must! They had mac and cheese soup which i was told was amazing by a staff member horrible dont order it. They had an electric skillet and a microwave where they cooked the food and i saw their coffee maker it was a keurig k cup brewer 70 cent coffee for 4$ this place is absolutely horrible dont know how they are still in business wouldnt recommend to my worst enemy!!

It has that "local secret" kind of look... but it is not good. They are friendly... only if they know you. The food was not good, and the atmosphere was a joke! A bunch of wanna-be rich folk sitting on a dead end street trying to out-glam each other over a plate of bad food. Where on earth do you get that attitude.. and why? No thank you.

  • Jen W.

Marcy is amazing. We got a very detailed and delicious tasting. I, unfortunately, neglected to call and make a reservation while using a Groupon, but we lucked out and caught the cafe at a slower time (Tuesday afternoon) so she was still able to accommodate us very well. Such a cute establishment. We will definitely be going back again to try more!

I love the decor and the music was decent, but the service was off. The salad came out quick, but when our main course (finally) got out, the server said "I'll be right back with some forks", and after 3 or more minutes of starring at our food (we were the only customers in the dinning room at this point), my friend got up and found the server. We were never visited for refills or asked "how is it?" during the meal. The beef stroganoff was good and so was the salad, but not enough to overlook the service and give a higher rating than 2 stars. If the server was more attentive, I'd easily give this place 3-4 stars.
