This is an average small-town steak house. Stick to their strengths - sandwiches, steaks and pasta (some of the other offerings are a little weak). Prime rib on weekends is so-so.

This is the Best restaurant. I recommend everything in the menu. I love the Ribeye steak,The chicken club sandwich, wings, ribs., I can go on.. Food is Amazing!!!!I'm so sad I live in Cali otherwise I would be there every weekend!

Good small town eatery with some unique, tasty menu items. The baked potato soup and the bacon asiago burger are standouts.

Had a nice meal with clients while traveling through town. Service was very friendly. I ordered the bourbon salmon and thought it was good but not great which is about what I expected, this is Iowa not the coast. Why didn't I order the steak? Don't make my mistake and stick with the beef.

At one time, they were very good, now, they're just fairly good. Slightly upscale American cuisine. I've never had anything BAD there, but no great food lately. Service was not as good last two times we went in. So it's been a while since we've gone. If it were in Ottumwa, it'd be one of their best restaurants. But here, we have the option of other restaurants, as well as a short hop, skip and a jump to Pella. I hope this place gets back to their full potential because with some work, I KNOW they can be great again!

Very good for small town Iowa, I usually get the Ribeye which they make awesome steaks. Has two sides fine dining and sports bar style. They have great earlybird specials before 6pm. The only downside to this place is the price, way overpriced for what you get, should be a little cheaper on some dishes. Other than that good place.

The time I visited The Peppertree an ice storm hit the day prior, the parking lot was caked in ice and was a danger to everyone, I walked my grandparents to their car to make sure they didnt fall. By the time we were seated It was obvious that they needed more waitresses because it took 10min for someone to take our drink order. When our salads finally arrived my salad had overly ripened lettuce in it and although the ranch dressing was quite enjoyable and tasty it was hard to over look black rotten lettuce. My sesame orange chicken entree was saturated in very sweet orange sauce that over powered the actual chicken and although the chicken was caked in sauce it was still dry in the center. The rice that came with the chicken was actually pretty good but with the chicken on top it was also drenched in the overly sweet sauce. The veggies on the side looked relatively tasty but had no seasonings, and little flavor, they were also $2 extra, not worth the extra money. The apple pie for desert accompanied by vanilla ice cream was a nice way to finish a disappointing meal. And although the prime rib my mother received was very good (if you go here order the prime rib) my meal was still $22 (with the complimentary salad) spent on a disappointing meal.
