My boyfriend is doing an internship in Muscatine, so when I came down to visit we decided to go here. The reviews were great and Italian seemed like a nice date night idea. The service was awkward- no one greeted us for a few minutes before we were told to seat ourselves at a dirty table. The food was mediocre. I've made better bruschetta (WAY too crunchy) and Chicken Marsala at home (and I'm not a very good cook). I was very disappointed with the whole experience. Nothing better than mediocre.

Solidly nummy Italian food. Good service and family friendly!

Very much enjoyed the visit. The place is small but cozy. We stopped in late on a Friday so it wasn't very busy. The food (lasagna and seafood pasta) was very delicious at a good price. I'm glad we stumbled upon it... will definitely return if in muscatine again.

I'm a truck driver and I had to stay HEINZ distribution. I ordered an X-large and I got a small one for free was special of the day. I would say this is really yummy pizza.

I'm very impressed from The phone call, the delivery guy all the way down to the taste of the pizza. Very organic.

Good chicken parm. The bread was ice cold in the center. Dessert was good.

Never once, in over 25 years, have I been disappointed in a meal from Salvatore's. Pizza, pasta, appetizers, all excellent.

Having eaten here a few times now I can safely say this is some of the best Italian around. Great daily items at good prices, served fresh and hot. My only complaint is the low amount of sauce which might be perfect for some(it's just enough to cover the pasta) but my preference requires a bit more. Wait staff is attentive and friendly, the menus are simple to read, conveying what you need to know quick and efficiently (complete with wine suggestions) The atmosphere is cozy with a cabin like motif complete with fire place, though the walls are adorned with Italian flavor items(pictures and placards) Overall a great place!

My husband and I had the best brick oven sausage pizza tonight at Salvatore's Pizzeria! The service was great! We also enjoyed our chat with the very friendly owner, Salvatore.

Once again, I found myself running near Muscatine and felt compelled to go a bit out of my way to see how this small place is doing. I had yet another wonderful dinner and chat with. the owner who, in a trait that helps to define a great family run restaurant, took time to chat with his customers and genuinely thank them for stopping in. This was my fourth visit here, and I am convinced that each pleasant visit was not a fluke or an act. The menu is varied, the food flavorful, atmosphere is relaxed, and the prices are right. My ONLY complaint is that they don't offer a "Here's one of everything" dinner. Do yourself a favor...when passing through, commit an act of corporate defiance... skip the chain restaurant, drive a bit off the beaten path, and enjoy some REAL food for a change!

The food was great and we will be back! Service was a little slow however, several of us arrived at the same time so it is understandable. The service was good; very nice and apologized for the wait time. Seating is a little crowded - hard to walk in-between tables. Woman's restroom was clean.

I LOVE this place! I used to live in Muscatine and this was always my go to place for an AMAZING dinner out! We now travel back to Muscatine once in awhile from St. Louis just to eat here! We were just there over the holiday! It is so good! I love the inside set up; it is cozy and always smells delicious inside. The wine menu has lots of choices, but I also love that it is not the run of the mill wine you can buy from Hy-Vee. I have tried (and enjoyed) several new to me wines here. Their salad dressing is out of this world! I honestly don't even like salad very much and I actually don't like most salad dressing, but I'm pretty sure I could eat this as a side! If you like garlic get the Creamy Garlic Dressing - you will NOT be disappointed! As far as their food is considered it is all amazing. They make a great ribeye and their mashed potatoes are so good! I also love their pizza and their pastas are amazing. I usually get the chicken primavera, I love the creamy sauce and veggies. I usually have a hard time deciding what to get, but I have never been disappointed about my order. You can tell they really care about the ingredients that go into the food that they serve. For dessert I don't know that I have had a better piece of Tiramisu, it is the perfect amount of cream, chocolate, and coffee - I honestly judge every other Tiramisu to this one - I also love their cheesecake and if you like chocolate you should try the Chocolate Flourless Cake. It is rich and very good. On that note they also have GF pizza crust and you can get GF pasta too. Another thing I like is that you don't feel like you are ever being rushed off from your table. You can leave right away after you eat or you can stay and chat with your mates! It is apparent that they want you to enjoy your meal and your company. The owners Claudio and Domenica are always walking around checking on guests, when they are not cooking. Reno is usually always in the kitchen. It is truly a family business. They truly make it feel like home for everyone who is dinning. In short if you are in Muscatine and looking for a dinner place for a group or just yourself; you owe it to yourself to check out Salvatore's. The food is great and the people are even better.

The salad that comes with the main course is a joke. Very small plate and they throw a slice of tomato on a few green leaves. That's not a salad. The food took 40 minutes, but it was decent. I think it's a good Italian restaurant but for the price you pay, you should expect better service and quality.

Visited based on Yelp reviews. Unfortunately visited same night of a VERY LARGE soccer group and such a small place was VERY LOUD!! However the food was great. Seafood fettuccine, lasagna, our waitress recommended the Mimmas Penne Compo.... Awesome! Service was a little slow but expected with the crowd. Give them a try, you won't be sorry.

We came here with some friends who had rave reviews. We made reservations on a Saturday night and it turned out to be a good idea as they were busy. The decor of the place is different from most Italian places we've been. Sort of cabin-esk with lots of wood planks. Didn't take anything away from the ambiance, but it was such that a moose head on the wall wouldn't have been out of place. Booths were nice and they have plenty of tables. We witnessed them accommodate a couple groups of around 40 so we confirmed the versatility of the things. Bruschetta for an appetizer was excellent. Only better with fresh mozzerella - they used grated - though it was still very good. Really tasty tomatoes and crunchy bread made it a winner. For dinner me lady had the Lasagna and it was excellent. Made fresh each evening, good size and fantastic taste! I had the special - sun dried tomato ravioli with a pesto cream sauce. It too was delicious, very creamy, but no overpowering and nicely done al dente pasta. To boot, the pasta was red and white striped making it look like Bacon! The portions were generous, but not circus big. The bread with dinner was also excellent - crusty outside with warm inside - good sized too so you didn't use up what you got early on during the meal. For dessert we all shared a cannoli. With just the right amount of sweet and crunch, it was perfect ending. Small beer and wine list, but the made wine recommendations for specific plates and overall it was ample as a compliment to the meal. Worth going if you're from around the area or passing through. Not sure if we'll be treking from Iowa City unless friends are interested in going. The price is about the same as most middle tier Italian spots and it's a couple steps up from Olive Garden. The owners like to make rounds throughout the night as well which adds to the charm of the place (This bumped it up to a 4 in our minds) and in the absence of huge groups, as were present were we dined, this place would be trending towards romantic, but as is, it's a good place to go for above average Italian food in a place where the owners care about your experience.

I've only ever had the pizza here. I've had better pizza, but it's ok and the best thing is that they deliver and they deliver late at night!

We were in town for work and this resturant was quickly recommended. The pizza was very good; the salad was a simple dinner salad I would expect at any similar resturant. The dressings are all home made - yum! The service was great and the family runnining the business very friendly and appreciative of our business. Check out Salvatore's!

This place is simple Italian, done well. We are regulars and everything we have tried is great. The favorites are the spaghetti with meatballs and the mushroom ravioli. They also have pizzas and calzones. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive. The place is also kid friendly with pizza dough provided for the kids to play with. This place is frequently packed but they do take reservations so call ahead.

I was in Muscatine on business and asked the hotel for a local recommendation which lead me to Salvatores. Great food, humble and welcoming atmosphere. I got the manicotti and my coworker got a calzone. Both meals were huge and delicious. Good service too. I would definitely come again.

Home run! Great service. Amazing food. Perfectly paced meal was served fresh and piping hot. Service was courteous, prompt, welcoming and not overbearing. We tried the Italian Sausage app (outstanding!) and I had the Rigatoni with a glass of Nero D'Avola. My wife had the Ziti. My son had the spaghetti and meatballs. The salad that came out before the meal was simple and fresh, served with a delicious creamy (as opposed to chunky) Bleu cheese dressing that was made in house. Perfect size for me, though I would say it was small compared to others I've seen. After the wonderful meal we shared a very tasty Tiramisu and a perfect latte. The owner came by and chatted with us a bit and made us feel very welcome and important. Wine, beer, apps, entrées, dessert and coffee $65. Being a 25 year veteran of the restaurant business, I tend to be hard to impress. We will definitely be back...and soon!

My husband is from this quaint town which I also love. He and I have travelled many places and eaten the best of foods and drink good wines. When we go out to eat we expect clean restaurant (bathrooms included), excellent service, excellent food and wine. My husband and I are big foodies and have had the privilege to dine at the finest restaurants in this and other countries. He's always raved to me about Salvatore's and I could not wait to eat there. As always, my hubby is spot on and I have to agree, Salvatore's is as excellent as he said it would be. We ordered pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, ordered a nice bottle of wine, which was not expensive (only 25$ for the wine) we happily ended our meal with a cannoli that even our kids loved! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive and not like those types that are constantly at the table asking if everything is good every 5 minutes. The restaurant was very clean as was the ladies bathroom. Salvatore's will have our business every time we go back there. Everyone in Muscatine should make it a point to dine at this great establishment. Ric & Maritza Castillo

I like Salvatore's.. they honestly try to give you a good meal. The service is good, the menu is simple Italian, the wine list is very limited. The pizza and pasta is a better choice. I suggest you bring your own wine. They charge a $15 corkage but it would make the entire experience much better.

A little gem in the middle of nowhere. The decor and setup is a little quirky but the pasta is spot on. My dish was cooked perfectly: penne that bit back properly, *creamy* savory sauce built of a mix of Alfredo, Marsala and cheese, sauteed sausage with just the right amount of a seared outer crust and vegetables with tad bit of crunch left....delicious! On the side I had a single meatball topped with meat sauce. The meatball was tender and mild in flavor, yet, the meat sauce tasted more like a basic red sauce. The service was friendly/attentive and my only complaint was that the side salad that came with the meal wasn't cold/crisp and the dressings was a tad sweet for my tastes. Nevertheless I *will* return the next time in the neighborhood.

I am in town for work and asked the front desk at my hotel for a recommendation for food. The first thing he said is that "If you like Italian you should check out Salvatore's." I have to say that I couldn't have made a better choice last night. The food and service was great. I had the Chicken Parmesan with a glass of wine. Now to start the wine was nothing impressive, but it was better than other places that I have gone. But the chicken was great. It was a good portion size and served at the perfect temperature. The spaghetti sauce had a great flavor to it. It wasn't too spicy or tangy. It was just about right. They nada violinist walking around to different tables playing some songs, which was a nice touch for being in such a small town. My only complaint is that when I walked in there is no one to greet you. I had to walk all the way to the back of the restaurant where the cash register was and ask for a seat. Maybe that is normal, but I thought it was confusing. I ended up opting for the bar to sit down since I was alone. But as for the value and service, I will surely be going back another night this week.

I was in town for business and I had lunch at Salvatores. Our server was quick and very sweet. The menu has a very limited selection of dishes, but I really enjoyed the simple spaghetti and meatball plus house salad and garlic bread. The meatball was homemade and tasted amazingly flavorful and juicy. For Iowa, $7.95 for this meal is kind of steep, but it is a sit down place that takes AMEX. If I ever have to return for work here, I'd eat here again.

I don't think I've ever met a person who doesn't love Salvetore's. Great pizza, great pasta, intimiate environment. Great local place to go for out of towners and I would say most people of Muscatine would recommend going. The service can be slow depending on the night, but the owners care about their customers and there are a lot people who visit frequently and they know them by name. Space is a little tight, but it's a great place to as a family, on a date, or a group of friends. In the summer our softball team would go after home games almost every week!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
