Reviews:
Brownies is a classic gem in the modern world of chain eateries. I had a homemade hearty chicken dumpling soup for only $5. I highly recommend it. Juicy flavorful chicken that wasn't over cooked and the dumplings were fluffy but firm. Nothing crazy on the menu, just old style Midwest home cooking that makes you miss mom.

Staff is always courteous and wait times, if any, are very short. I'm a fan of their fajitas(any kind). I also love their ceviche, margaritas and cheese sauce! Chips are given when seated with two salsas; One is mild with cilantro and one is a little on the spicy side. Both are very good, but if you are a spicy food lover they have another upon request that should get your eyes watering. I haven't had anything that I wouldn't recommend so take a look at the menu and dive in.

George’s Diner

2302 11th Ave S
Fort Dodge, 50501
Reviews:
We were passing through town and looking for a real "local" restaurant -- and they were hard to find!! Lots of chain places. But deep in the heart of Fort Dodge is a real gem: George's Diner! George, himself, greeted us when we entered. The restaurant is small, but very neat and clean. The kitchen? Spotless! On his recommendation, we tried the cheese coneys with everything - best decision of the day! They are not topped with chili, a special recipe of spiced hamburger meat. Absolutely delicious! When I asked about it, George told me it is a recipe from a local restaurant that closed in the 50s, Amos & Andy's. He says he still buys the spiced directly from the family who owned the original restaurant. NOTE: they do not have hot sauce! George says he only gets a request for it about once a year.
During my visit to Ft Dodge I made my way to my favorite coney spot. Still very good.

Sports Page Bar & Grill

2707 N 15th St
Fort Dodge, 50501
Reviews:
The Sports Page is a great sports bar. When I was growing up, we went there all the time but it had been several years since I'd been in. The food was just as I remembered it - great sports bar food. I can't think of any place in Fort Dodge that would be better for having a bite to eat and watching a game.
Went there last night the place was very busy. I had tenderloin, my sister in-law had pork loin sandwich, my brother had a burger we were all satisfied. Another must go to place when I visit my family.
I love buffalo wings. I saw a review on here about the wings from another reviewer saying they make their own sauce, that they're awesome, get them extra crispy. The next time I had a craving for wings I tried them as recommended. Crispy. And i asked for extra blue cheese. They didn't charge extra for it, which is super awesome. They make their own blue cheese dressing, with hunks of real blue cheese. It's amazing. And the wings are as awesome as was described by another reviewer. I've had them about 4 times in the last 3 weeks. I'd upload a picture, but they're gone by the time I think of it. I haven't eaten anything else there yet. The atmosphere looks upbeat. The people who take my takeout order at the bar are always friendly. I like this place a lot!

Taco Tico

319 S 29th St
Fort Dodge, 50501
Reviews:
Taco: a Mexican dish consisting of a fried tortilla, typically folded, filled with various mixtures, such as seasoned meat, beans, lettuce, and tomatoes. Tico: a colloquial name for a native of Costa Rica. Does the name make sense? No. What does make sense is the decision to fill your mouth with spectacular Amerexican food at this local establishment. While I cannot vouch for the origin or contents of the seasoned meat mixture, I can vouch for the delight that will take over your body when you bite into Tico's crunchy beef tacos. They have the perfect meat to tortilla to lettuce ratio, with just the right amount of hot sauce (go for the mild, thank me later). I cannot give input to the taste of the tomatoes, because I am a man and do not eat tomatoes. However, the lettuce is fresh and serves its duty as a hot sauce delivery platform. Inside the dining area you will find a meager but manageable salsa bar to dress up your bounty if you choose to brave the -30 wind chill conditions of central Iowa. Will the food take you back to your trip to Cabo after junior year of college? No. Will it fill you up and leave you smiling on your way home through corn fields? Yes. They're $0.99 each. Pull some change out of your center console, order a half dozen, and enjoy the rest of your day. That is all.
Best Tex-Mex restaurant in the area! I recommend the Deluxe Enchilada and the Taco Burger! I like how they have a separate condiment bar for your veggies and sauces. Try to get their early or you may have a hard time finding a spot to sit. Low key quiet restaurant. Great place to bring the kiddos! They do have a drive thru and carry-out services. A++ food, Mmm!!
Classic stop for me when I attended Iowa Central in Fort Dodge. Every time I go back to Dirty Dodge, I have to stop here to eat. They have the best chicken enchilada. Good food for a good price. It's a very simple restaurant, so don't expect to be blown away. Most food is served on Styrofoam plates, to give you an example of the atmosphere. A great option for fast food Mexican food.

Tom Thumb Drive Inn

1412 A St W
Fort Dodge, 50501
Reviews:
If I drive between Estherville and Ames on US 169, the Tom Thumb Drive Inn is a logical stop to enjoy a bite and otherwise take a welcome break. This place was here when I grew up in this area, and it seems to still be going strong. In fact, I during our last visit, I think I got into a fun conversation with old Tom himself. Tom Thumb is a little bit of an odd duck in it's orientation. Their Bakery (great breads and pies) is in front, followed by a small DQ, and then a hometown restaurant taking up the majority of the property. The menu is a full one and features all sorts of comfort food and some Iowa-specific choices like Pork Tenderloin sandwiches. The food is plentiful, decent, and relatively inexpensive. The place itself is very down home retro and with interesting and welcoming locals to match.
Small portions but inexpensive and small town charming/odd. Flavors were decent for our road trip dinner when we were starving. Pie crust was nice and flakey.
Was staying in town for a wedding and decided to try this place out since it was so close to the hotel. They definitely need to upgrade the interior design. It's just so old looking. Like another reviewer stated, there is a Dairy Queen attached which was odd but nice to see. I only ordered the chili as everything else didn't seem pleasing to the eyes. After taking a bite it was pretty darn bland. Thankfully this was the only time I was ever going to be eating there.
