I went in just before 5:30 pm on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy at the time. I waited for more than 10 minutes before anybody approached me. The waitress asked how long I had been waiting and when I told her she seemed quite disgusted. The muffin was left in the oven too, long (crispy brown around the edges and the entire bottom stuck to the paper cup in which it was baked). The ribs were tough and chewy but the baked beans were good. $23 is too much to pay for good baked beans poorly served.

This is the best Famous Dave's I've eaten at. It has the best meats and best service. I've been told that this is a company-owned store and they only buy the best meats. I've eaten here about a dozen times now and would give it 5 stars each time. The soup and salad is great if you aren't too hungry, but a full rack of ribs is perfect when you're famished. The wild rice soup is super. Very attentive servers who always seem cheery. High 5 to the manager for running a perfect rib joint!

I have eaten here a couple times for lunch and found it to be pretty good. I got the platter and combo special each time trying different sides and meats though. I found the brisket to be quite good as well as the bbq chicken (nice skin and tender). I was not a big fan of the following: spare ribs because there wasn't a lot of meat on them; the rib tips seemed to have a lot of fat/grissel/bone to them (maybe that is just how tips are though, I have only had them once) and the chicken wings were small and bland. I really enjoyed a couple of the sides though... The mac 'n cheese was awesome because it has some corn and jelapenos in it and I also enjoyed the Wilber beans which has some brisket, sausage and jelapenos in them. The platter and combo meal also comes with corn bread and corn on the cob, so it was quite a filling meal. The sauces were pretty good and you have a choice of 5 or 6 of them though none of them had the spice I like. Even though the meal was filling for me I found most of it came from the sides and I am a carnivore and would rather fill up on meat.

On the very last day of my boyfriend visiting from California, Famous Dave's was our last spot to visit before dropping them off at the airport. We came before 5pm, so we were able to get their Lunch / Early Bird Platter specials - which is an AWESOME deal! You get sooo much food for about $7-8 dollars! They also offered extra ribs at 1 dollar a piece if you wanted that. Everything was fall-off-the-bone delicious...I'm the type that doesn't care for extra globs of sauce....i appreciate the taste that meat has to offer, and let me tell you it was just yummy, yummy, YUMMY! The food came out quick, service was great....im surprised it wasn't busier, but i suppose it was because I beat the crowd. I did have the Early Bird Special afterall...

We ordered a pretty big carry out order for a family reunion. 30 minutes or so, it was ready. We took it to our hotel, and it was as we had ordered. The food was good, the order was correct, and we were satisfied. Probably not the most exciting review, but I got what I wanted, so I want others to know that. Also, we did our order via the web page (Online order to go). I can't say that that was the most user friendly, and actually was a little bit of a pain, but I like ordering online because the probabilty that something gets messed up in the order decreases significantly because you aren't talking to someone on the phone who has to write something down. Plus, if you change your mind, you aren't taking up someone's time. Just make the platform more user friendly.

I've given this location so many chances. The stuff doesn't know what they are doing. I called ahead for a pick up. Easy order, cheeseburger and fries. I arrive at the time they tell me, wait 10 mins for someone to even help me and they haven't even started my order. This is a Sunday night, there was only a few tables full. They didn't apologize or anything. The cheeseburger was bleh. It didn't have any flavor at all, I'm done with this location.

Every time I'm in DSM, I have to stop here. Food is delicious and the staff is so friendly, plus treat me like family. Just mention the guy in the Army from Fort Dodge says, "hi."

Normally I go to either Jethro's or Smokey D's for BBQ. Well, since the line was almost out the door at Smokey D's at lunchtime, we thought we'd try Famous Dave's. We had the traditional BBQ - brisket, pork, hot sausage, etc. along with the sides. All in all - it was good enough, but nothing special. My biggest issue was with the portions. I had 4 small slices of brisket, one ok size sausage link, and about 1/4 cup of garlic red mashed potatoes for almost $12. It also came with a piece of cornbread which was ok. I obviously can't comment on their other menu items, but if you want BBQ, go to either Jethro's or Smoky D's. The food is better and the portions are way larger - at pretty much the same price. One more thing - we went on a Friday for lunch at around noon and it was DEAD. That should tell you something.

Wonderful ribs, wonderful sauce. They use a whipped butter/margarine blend on their baked potatoes that is just awful. Make sure you request pats of real butter instead. I tried the Kahlua brownie this time and recommend their pecan pie instead.
