Clean, nice staff and just a notch higher than Taco Bell. Had beef tacos with hot sauce but no flavor. Hard taco shells are the prepackaged kind and they have Tabasco as a hot sauce. They also offer raspberry jam as an enchilada topping? Not authentic at all but not bad and it was inexpensive. You get what you pay for after all.

This restaurant is awful. I had the chicken enchiladas (as recommended by my server who said they were the best thing on the menu) and they were completely flavorless. I thought I could remedy that by putting hot sauce on them, but that didn't help either. To be fair, the place was very clean.

Loved this place as a teenager, the food is reasonably priced. This location is new and has a rustic industrial look. The food was good, I got a flour taco, enchilada, and a burrito. The food was plated well. The hot sauce was like tomato juice and after trying out 3 found one that was somewhat hot, even tried shaking up the bottle. The food brings back memories of high school and hanging with friends and has a great atmosphere. The service is very slow and if they improved the service this place would be a solid four star cheap dinner restaurant with a clean hip decor. The food will leave you full and satisfied.

MUY BIEN! !! Fish tacos are the perfect size packed with flavor. Chipotle sauce is light and a bit spicy. Impressed she asked if I wanted my flour tortilla soft, hard or medium. I prefer soft and they toasted just a tad which made it perfect with fresh veggies on top. I usually drown everything in their hot sauce and no need to today. P.s. hot sauce is HOT... good for clearing sinuses. Glad I tried something new, this is one of my fav places in Davenport!

Looking for a place around 8 pm in this area for a quick bite is tough at best. This looked inviting. After we sat down, a very friendly young girl took our drink order, I told here we had not been there before, she joked and said " you must not be from Iowa, because EVERYONE been to a Rudys". She mentioned a couple things and went and got our drinks. I opened Yelp to look at the tips and started seeing it had mixed reviews. This generally means I go out of my way to order something to prove the 1 and 2 star reviews wrong. I ordered the nachos, which she pointed to something else that had a different name but we're "really nachos". I ordered them. Our 3 orders took less than 4 minutes to come out. Wow, fast. Well maybe not as it appeared everything was pre- made and microwaved. I have had loose meat sandwiches from another famous I won Ian change and the nachos we very reminiscent of that, not very good. The cheese used was a very bland chedder, the meat was also mushy a flavor less. I had ordered it sans the jalapeño, but this was bland beyond that. Two sauces were on table. We were told one mild and one spicy (the one with red top). We tried one with red and it was watery and bland. We thought the tops were swithed, and the other was identical. After leaving, I felt slightly nauseous on way home. I wasn't aick, but I think it was just the odd combo of ingredients. They received an extra start for the attentive and friendly wait staff, however I do not see us coming back and would not recommend to anyone else.

I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. I have had Rudy's before, and their food has always been sort of flavorless. I also noticed the overall quality of the ingredients is low. That being said, on Feb 3, 2015 my friend and I stopped in because we were in the neighborhood and we were hungry. This restaurant visit was the worst I have ever experienced. When I walked out, I was beyond angry. For one, our waitress was completely rude to us. Not only did her attitude offend me, but she sneakily tried charging me for a bunch of "extras" that I didn't even want. She rang up $9 of add-ons, while we never asked for one. (If you were looking for your tip honey, we had to spend it on the sour cream you charged us for that no one asked for or even used) Seeing the bill, I was confused by the many add-ons. I spoke with the manager there at the time. She told me she didn't really care. I was very angry. I felt so ripped off when I left. I have never left a restaurant feeling so sad and angry. For a long time, I tried to let it go but it still bothers me now. In summary, I would highly recommend that you spend your hard earned money at ANY establishment besides this one. Afterall, even the manager doesn't really care if you take your business elsewhere.

Bland food and not very authentic... but service was good and quick. I have had two so-so meals and will not go again. I had the small combination with beef taco, beef enchilada, and bean tostada. The beans and rice were smothered in cheese. Everything seemed very salty with little taste. Cheese fries were the best item that we had, but not a Mexican dish!

I love this Rudys. I shop in that area a lot and I end up eating there all the time. I actually meet my family. For lunch there often. There is a waitress that works there who seems to always be our server. We are a little predictable. She sees us and she has our drinks ready by the time we get settled into our seats. She remembersthat I don't like certain stuff with my food and I don't even have to say anything. She just takes care of everything. The service to say the least is great! The food speaks for itself, love it.

I am going to have to agree with all the other reviewers. The food is incredibly bland. I ordered two beef enchiladas and they had little seasoning, I'm not even sure if there was any enchilada sauce on them. The refried beans I am almost positive came from a can.

Folks, if you grew up on "Rudy's" and you love it, I'm sorry but you're eating garbage. This place is awful.

The food and service were both terrible. I could only choke down 2 bites of my meal, which I ended up having to pay $7 for. I don't normally complain at restaurants, but it was so bad that I told the waiter I couldn't eat it. Instead of asking if I wanted something else or offering a discount, he just brought out a bill for full price. Save your money and go to Taco Bell...it tastes better and is half the price.

Rudy's, you should be ashamed to call yourself Mexican food. We had taco salads. The steak was unidentifiable microwaved meat. The shell tasted like it was fried last week. Just terrible, stale. Oh, and the guacamole (which I assumed would be fresh made) came in packets like ketchup. And it was horrible. Why on earth wouldn't you make your own? I remember Rudy's being great when I was a kid. Now, taco bell beats this crap hole.

Good food, meh on the service. Usually when I'm in town and stop at this Elmore location, service is great, food is "as always" (which isn't a bad thing). This visit was good food, but the service was not up to their "norm." It was later in the eve, perhaps 7or 8pm and they appeared to be getting ready to shut down for the night so the waitress wasn't out to the table very often. Not their usual behavior in my experience at this location. Other reviewers comment on bland food. Depends on what you like. I like the flavor. Their own hot sauce isn't that hot by my standard but isn't out of a bottle you can pick up at the grocery store. I'm originally from the area and Rudy's small or large combinations are what I usually order...or an order of tacos. Taco order has so many toppings that you usually can make a small salad with everything that falls off.

This place was OK. Probably won't go back just because there was something about the place I just didn't like. The outside makes the place look inviting, but inside makes it feel like you are eating in a cafeteria with tons of bright overhead lighting. No atmosphere inside due to bright lighting. I had the tacos and they were just OK. One other customer mentioned no flavor for their food in their review and the tacos were pretty bland. I did like their lightly fried flour tortillas for the tacos, but that was about it. The waitress did a pretty good job, but she was the only one working from what I could tell. One more thing, the food did come to me very fast after ordering. Just wish the food tasted better since I was really in the mood for tacos.

Usually I am pretty satisfied, but it seems to be sliding down hill a bit. Not sure if there is new ownership or weak management. It is tough to find good help nowadays. Called to express concern about my takeout order which looked terrible and was thanked "for letting us know". Glad I could help.

I've eaten here many times. My reason for returning is its proximity to Gander Mountain and it's an easy place to meet for lunch with a colleague. The food is just ok. I think everything is over cooked and the sauces on the table lack flavor. Add a little Tobasco and some jalapeños, however, and you have a jalapeño Tobasco flavored enchilada! The service has always been kind and attentive. The restaurant itself is always clean. I will return again to shop at Gander Mountain.....

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
