    Awesome service. Amazing food and YOU CAN GET CRAB CAKES FOR BREAKFAST! HOW COOL IS THAT! I would highly recommend Cafe Idigo to anyone.. Although, a large group is a little tight.

    We did brunch here on a Friday morning. Food was a little slow coming out, but then breakfast usually is. The standout dish was the Indigo frittata, which was excellent. Everything was very good, but there were a few misses. The chef was WAY too heavy handed with the rosemary in the blueberry rosemary sauce. There was no plain black tea, which is just... weird. A few tweaks here and there, and this place could be a cafe on par with any urban/metropolitan excellent neighborhood spot.

    I have been here twice and it is fast becoming my favorite place to eat in the QC. This is mainly because the food is thoughtfully prepared and the servers are very attentive. That being said, you will not get your meal in 10 minutes like you will other places that are not as tasty and innovative with their food. You can tell each dish is prepared for you and I appreciate that. The breakfast is AM-Azzzing. yum. Lunch was great too. I have not been for dinner so I can't comment on that. I love sitting outside since the inside does lack ambiance. So happy the QC has a place like Indigo :)

    Great little find, friendly staff and good food. Not your typical Midwestern fare. Had the Greek fritatta which was twice the normal size but lacking in feta. Balsamic vinagrette dressing was creamyish for some reason and not traditional by any means. Husband had a panini and ate half so I'd say the portions are pretty big. Good homemade fries and the coffees were excellent. Just missed breakfast and am guessing their breakfast is pretty good so we'll go back earlier next time. They also had some nice-looking baked goods but we didn't try them.

    Really nice! We enjoyed our food & service. It has been a long time since we had been here. Best service we have ever had here compared to previous visits . Tuna salad excellent . Scallops excellent . We will not wait near as long to come back.

    We have been here a few (4) times and each time was the same.... Food was great! Service was awful! Food was slow to come out. Service was awful!! (yes, i know i mentioned this twice) I'm afraid we won't go back too bad because the food was good.

    I found this on yelp and based on decent reviews decided to try it out for breakfast, despite the negative comments on service. The place itself is very confusing, the decor didn't have a clear statement of what the restaurant is trying to be- overall Bad drapery and tacky wall decor. Random wine rack by the muffins and Dirty Dancing music in the background, yes I am referring to the movie. No one seats you so I asked if I needed to seat myself to which someone replied yes. This was also the same person that happened to be my server. There were no clean tables so I just chose one and assumed they would take care of it, which they did. When the server came up to me, she just starred at me (assuming I was ready to order). I asked what coffee they had, and she didn't mention anything except for regular, so I said I'll go with that. After she brought that back with the menu, I noticed they had many more hot drink coffee choices that she clearly didn't care to mention. Oh well, on to the food- big portions ok taste. Nothing to brag about but it was not bad. My only comment is that I ordered an omelette at 10am and it was served at 10:30. The place was not busy so I'm not sure why it took 30 minutes to cook eggs. Both the coffee mug and plate was dirty when served. 3 stars for food zero for service. Based on both I do not need to come back.

    Very helpful service. Clean & nicely decorated. Food was fresh, tasty, and unique (tzaziki coleslaw and boetjes aioli, anyone?). Tons of vegetarian options. My favorite thing here by far, only available at dinner, is the Cajun salmon sandwich. It's not spicy but it is definitely the tastiest sandwich I've ever had. It has capers, cream cheese, sprouts, and rye bread. Indigo also has awesome soups and wine-tinis. Great bottled beer selection. Oh and the baked goat cheese! And the turkey apple wraps at lunch! I need to go back sooooon.

    Go here and get the apple bacon turkey wrap. Really really good. Also, be sure to get a salad with one of their homemade dressings.

    Amazing, upscale breakfast menu. I don't know that I would bring my kids here, as it would likely break the budget without the return on satisfaction that would warrant such an expense. However, with just me and my mom, it was a nice breakfast. Nice waiter. I did wonder if the poor guy was cooking as well as taking orders though... he was efficient enough, but I swear I did not see another employee there the entire time we were there... But he was friendly and upbeat, and there was no delay in the service. Maybe it was him and a cook... but whatever... Mom and I were there on a weekday, and we received good service and good food. I wish I were more into the sweet treat breakfasts... they had a LOT. However, I'm usually into the proteins, so I couldn't sample the yummy sounding French Toasts (etc) that they list on the less-protein-oriented options. It was good. Pricier than my standby of Jimmy's Pancake House, but fancier, so it's hard to weigh which would be a better choice... i do love a good breakfast!!

    We were here 40 minutes after it opened and were seated very quickly. We had coffee and I had ordered oatmeal and there hash brown casserole. My father in law had an omelet and my husband had a plate with pretty much everything on it. All breakfasts come with fresh fruit. Everything was very good. They make everything from scratch, so don't be in a hurry. I will say that I find that it is odd that the only way they make eggs is in omelet form or scrambled. For breakfast it is good. I would like to try the place for dinner. Sadly, in Milwaukee, this place would bomb. We have TOO many wonderful breakfast places that would blow this place out of the water. For the Quad Cities- it was decent. That is why I gave it 4 stars.

    Stopped in here on a road trip looking for a quick lunch before heading back out on the road (Harley trip with my guys). People seemed nice but we waited an hour for our lunch before the waiter finally agreed to just box it up for us. The explanation? "It is really busy." Come on, bra. It should never be so busy that a hummus wrap takes an hour to make. This is a restaurant. Plan better. We saw five others walk out. Do not recommend, but in all honesty considered two stars because the dude did offer us cookies.

    After much discussion, we have decided that this is one of the best breakfasts we have ever enjoyed, including those in New Orleans with oatmeal brûlée and in Skokie with Russian blinis. The freshly brewed pot of tea was delicious, the oatmeal had a delicate touch of cream, and the blueberry rosemary compote was a perfect accent for the French toast. Next time, however, I will order my own helping of the delicious toast he had with crusts covered with seeds with his Indigo breakfast platter instead of having to beg for a taste. And more oatmeal!

    Wanted to have breakfast as usual this morning. Called in to make a reservation. I was told they don't take reservations. Odd since I have always needed a reservation on Sunday but okay. Walk in and am asked if I have a reservation! ! 45 minute wait. Wth? ? Very unhappy

    I met a friend here for Sunday brunch recently when visiting the Quad Cities. It's a little hard to find, as the sign is kind of difficult to read. But, it's set in the corner of a little strip mall. Our server was very friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. At 10:00 on a Sunday, it was full, but there didn't appear to be a wait. The menu here is very extensive - so many options for omelets, frittatas and much more. I ordered the cheese omelette, not noticing that it already comes with hash brown casserole so I also ordered a side of bacon. The omelette was huge, and loaded with cheese. The side of bacon included quite a few strips - a little overcooked for my taste, but still a good addition. The hashbrown casserole was to die for. So delicious! I look forward to coming back here again and trying out their lunch or dinner menu. It's great to find a locally owned place like this amidst all the chain restaurants of Davenport.

    An obscene amount of wait time during the breakfast/lunch hours, and you feel awkward standing, watching everyone around you eat, as the place is quite small. Waited close to a half hour to be seated. Once seated, we were told if we wanted lunch we would have to wait another 20 minutes or so, since they were not serving lunch yet. Waiter was friendly, but looked very busy and rushed, didn't want to bother him to flag him down for much. I ordered a pasta dish which was okay, somewhat bland for the price. Overall, the concept is good, what with using fresh ingredients and what not. But the pace definitely needs to be picked up, or they need to relocate somewhere larger and hire more help.

    My wife and I went on a Thursday night around 8-ish. They weren't busy and we got waited on right away, which was good because we had been drinking beer at the R Bar since 5:30 and NNEDED to eat, STAT. I had pretty much dismissed Cafe Indigo, in the past, as just another "chick-food" place: soups, salads, cold sandwiches, etc, but I was pleasantly surprised. My wife got a bowl of soup (it had vegetables and stuff in it, so I didn't pay any attention to what it was called). I think it had squash or some other type of gourd in it. I got their steak chili, which was VERY good. My wife wished she had gotten mine (or that I liked pureed vegetables and would switch with her). My wife also got a salad of some sort and said she liked it. She liked it, but she brought MOST of it home for her lunch on Friday. The reason she COULD bring most of it home is that she ended up eating almost half of MY dinner - a half-pound hamburger. I asked for a medium (cooked) burger and the cook did a good job not turning it into a warm hockey puck. The bun was made of pretzel bread, which was very good. The waitress asked if I wanted bacon and cheese, which weren't listed as coming on the sandwich. I think I had another beer, but can't remember anything about it. (I probably shouldn't have driven home, now that I think about it). I don't think I mentioned how small the place seemed. They DO have a small room thru some doors, that could be closed off for groups. Since there wasn't a group that night, they had the door open and there were some people eating there. I guess you could seat a hundred or so if they needed to. Maybe it wasn't that small after all. Maybe I'm just rambling and should shut up. Bottom line: I enjoyed my food and my wife's company. I would go back (even if they DO have mostly "chick-food".

    Updating to say that, now when you come in here, you're greeted to a statement of "we're not a fast food restaurant so if you're in a hurry, sorry but too bad. May we suggest McDonald's where your food is kept in drawers for you" right at the top of the menu. This was not here the last time I came in. I could handle a simple statement saying the food takes time- I don't need to be hit with passive-aggressive judgmental snark as soon as I sit down. Especially when the wait time is a legitimate concern, even outside the cooking time for the food. We were here on Saturday morning around 10 and there were a grand total of 4 people staffing the whole restaurant: 2 servers, 2 cooks. No one bussing tables, no host, no one washing dishes. Needless to say the long wait wasn't just because of the food. Several people walked out while waiting for one of the half dozen empty tables to be cleaned off. The servers were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, and understandably terse due to being overworked and having too many responsibilities. I feel bad for them. Bottom line: the food is good, but I don't need to be subjected to terrible service thanks to management who clearly doesn't understand how to properly staff and structure a restaurant. And I certainly don't need to support an owner/manager who dismisses legitimate complaints in such a rude way right on the menu. Hopefully I can come back for the great food when they've sorted out their priorities, but for now I'm done giving these people my money.

    Great food and atmosphere- would have given 5 starts if it wouldn't have taken us so long to get our food. The server was attentive and polite, but it simply took too long to eat. Definitely don't go here if you are looking for a "quick" meal. But if time isn't an issue, this place is otherwise great.

    We were on way back to Chicago from Cedar Rapids and happened upon Cafe Indigo, thanks to Yelp. Easy to find and plenty of parking. The decor is modern, clean and in good taste. Outdoor seating too, facing a parking lot, but better than moving cars on a street. The food is ersatz gourmet and plenty of it. Quality of the food and service is quite good. The downside is that the "owner" or maitre de was very friendly, but in a sort of suck up the oxygen in the room sort of way. Nice fellow, but overly loud which detracts from the ambiance. Also, no wifi for those needing it. Good for conversation though.

    Enjoyed breakfast this morning at Cafe Indigo. I ordered the open face Monte Cristo sandwich with the hash brown casserole. My son had the Denver Omelette also with the hash brown casserole. Both dishes were on the generous side, well worth the price! I liked the decor and the music. My son said this place suits you perfectly, mom. And he is right! If you haven't had a chance to visit, seriously, go soon because you are going to have a wonderful meal! And if you are still hungry when you leave, check out their baked goods, melt in your mouth goodness!

    The Café looks very nice inside, hard to find, not a street view. We were very disappointed with the service for breakfast. The waitress took the order wrong, and did not offer to correct it. She said that is what she heard. My wife ordered a Californian Breakfast sandwich which sounded divine. However she was brought a plain old scrabbled egg and cedar cheese sandwich that we could have picked up for one quarter the price at Hardees and would have been as happy. We also asked if we could sub the regular sandwich bread for the gluten free bread and the waitress said we could. Then waitress added extra for the bread to the bill . I asked to see the manager, because the entire experience was not good, and the potential should have been outstanding. The manager did not come and she had another waitress drop off the corrected bill to us. The only other issue that is not directed at the waitress. For other items on the breakfast menu there were clearly healthy choices, but not for meats. There should have been options for turkey bacon, or chicken or turkey sausage. Even thought the menu items included meats, we said not to include it on our meal..

    First, I called to make a reservation on Sunday and the woman on the phone was very rude to me. The website says groups of any size welcomed and any day during the week, well 15 was too many and I asked how many was the max and she said it was 10. So I then called back and asked if we could do a reservation for 8 and 7. She said she couldn't do reservations and we were welcome to come in but she could not do reservations for us. She was not considerate or accommodating at all and completely went back on what she previously said. I would NOT recommend this restaurant purely on how they treat their customers.

    The food was excellent, Frittata, French toast and waffles for our family. Coffee was weak for our taste. Service was so incredibly slow, that it cost them two stars here. Never should it take 10 minutes to get waters, milk and coffee. Service was nice but way too slow.

    Came on a Friday morning around 10AM. About five or six other tables and only one server. Pace was a little slow, but mostly because we had an impatient two year old with us. But they gave him crayons and let him color on the table cloth. Coffee was good. And a good selection of espresso drinks. The kid got mini waffles and bacon for $4. They threw in a little dish of whip cream that he loved. My wife got strawberry French toast which was very good. I got the lighter fresh veggie sandwich. It was an egg white with avocado, sprouts peppers aioli and some other tasty things. Surprisingly, the thing that stood out to me was the English muffin it was on. It was toasted perfectly, and combined with the richness of the aioli and avocado it almost tasted like there was bacon on it, yet it still tasted light. The cheesy hash brown casserole was anything but light, though very tasty. I could've opted for fruit. I would definitely come back again. I was visiting from out of town and wanted something nicer than Village Inn. Price wasn't much higher but the experience and food were way better than your average sit down breakfast joint.

    If you are looking for a quick bite to eat this is not the place. For a relaxing leisurely meal this is the place. Unique menu. I highly recommend the potato leek soup.

    Not bad. Not bad at all. Through the power of Yelp, discovered Cafe Indigo after searching for vegetarian friendly restaurants in the quad cities and decided to drop by for lunch before checking in to my hotel in downtown Davenport. As others have mentioned, food is prepared "to order" which means you're going to have to wait. Which might be ok if the wait staff was a little more attentive. I was sitting out on the patio waiting for silverware and a drink refill for what seemed like forever. I had an unmemorable caprese sandwich and a nice little side salad with the house garlic vinaigrette. (if you like garlic, this is the dressing for you! I was vampire-proof for hours!) Overall, my experience was ok. Nothing spectacular, and if I were to stop in Davenport again, not sure I'd go out of my way to stop there for lunch.

    Met friends here for brunch on a Sunday, around 11:00 am. We arrived before them and waited patiently in the foyer area to be greeted/seated. There was no hostess, so one of the servers was trying to handle all of this while at the same time, managing all of his tables. I didn't think that was very cool - it gave off a very hassled vibe from the get go. We were not seated but were pointed to a table and were given menus after we seated ourselves. I really don't have a problem with this, per se, but I don't think this is the kind of atmosphere that Cafe Indigo is going for...it would seem to me they would be aiming for a personable, intimate, quaint/lovely little place with happy, pleasant servers and the rest of the staff "on the ball" so to speak. I think our server was a little overworked - we had to wait a long time for a drink order, silverware etc. It was just a little off and as a former server (5+ years!) I kind of know what the signs are when someone just has too much on their plate. With all that said, our server was still VERY accommodating, friendly and upbeat. That was a definite plus! He took our order and about 15-20 minutes later, came back to say they were out of the breakfast burger option. I thought that was a little odd because 1. why isn't the kitchen communicating this fact earlier (we had about 30 minutes to look over the menu...pleeeeeenty of time to decide or be informed of any changes to the menu) 2. why did this message take so long to relay back to us so that we could reorder that dish? I mean, all's well that end's well, but it just seems like Cafe Indigo is a little flustered/ill-organized in a general sense. Onto the food....FANTASTIC. Really, REALLY fantastic brunch. We were all beyond happy with our food. What did we order? 1. Crab Cakes (not currently listed on their online menu, so I can't add detail on the dish) 2. Andouille Sausage Bake - Pan fried hash browns, sauteed peppers, onions and andouille sausage topped with our cheese blend, baked - topped with 2 eggs over medium and pico de gallo 3. Greek Omelette - 4 eggs omelette with garlic spinach, tomatoes, red onions, and feta cheese. Topped with tzatziki sauce and served with wheat toast and your choice of bacon, sausage or ham 4. Steak Omellette - 4 egg omelette with shaved steak and mushrooms, topped with marinated au jus onions and horseradish aioli. Served with wheat toast and your choice of bacon sausage or ham (The dish we tried to order, but they were out of, was Andy's Breakfast Burger: 8oz black peppered burger topped with 2 eggs over-medium, sauteed onions, blue cheese crumbles, bacon and our roasted red pepper pesto on a toasted/grilled bun) I would have no issue closing my eyes and pointing to any item on the menu and just going with it. Great flavor all around. Everyone was happy. The only other thing I will say is that my BF asked for his eggs poached, and they said they couldn't or wouldn't do that. IMHO: If you're paying 10-13 dollars for brunch, you should be able to order your eggs however the hell you want. Bottom line: I would come back. The food really was incredible. But I would make sure I have PLENTY of time. This is not a place to go if you have a time line in mind. I was teetering on 3 stars, but the food really is that fantastic so 4 it is!

    Arrived shortly before noon, stood in the foyer for 10 minutes before being spoken to. We were told it would be at least another 15 minutes for a table. There appeared to be only two wait staff and I did not want to burden them. I took my business elsewhere.

    My husband and I had breakfast. It was very fresh, hot and creatively pleasant. Decor is basic and uninspiring, though they do have outside seating. Will definitely add Cafe Indigo to the restaurant mix. 4 stars based on the food.

    I'm reposting this review I wrote back in late 2008: My girlfriend and I were eager to try this newcomer to the Quad City restaurant scene. We had dinner there on a recent Wednesday night. She ordered the Maple Glazed Pork Loin ($17.95) and I the Spicy Thai Beef with Soba Noodles ($16.95). My entree was decent though a bit one-dimensional. It was smothered in a soupy barbecue-type sauce, which overwhelmed all other flavors in the dish. I also tried my girlfriend's pork loin, which was a bit overcooked and the spicy pecans which were supposed to top the dish were forgotten. Nothing was bad, but for the prices I expected much better. Ambiance was of typical of a cafe, I just wish the prices were.

    Who went: Wife and I When: Lunch 11March2010 Ordered: Me - California Burger Wife - Crab cake salad Server seemed a bit out of it. Seemed to take a long time to get ordered, refills, and finally the check. Was not a quick lunch but the food was worth it. We look forward to go back for dinner sometime.     Ooh La La! Le Petit Dejeuner est Belle! (The breakfast is lovely!) We strolled into Cafe Indigo on a Sunday morning hoping for a Mocha and a semi-fabulous pastry, which is about all you can hope for in the average QC pastry stop! Absolutely not the case! The scones and caramel rolls are fantastic! The full breakfast menu is tantalizing. I had the homemade hot granola and hashbrown casserole. Every bite made me a little bit happier! The strawberry basil waffles looked amazing and the woman at the table next to me was definitely enjoying them as I did the non-chalant table glance. Village Inn can kiss my grits! Cafe Indigo is my new Sunday spot!

    Ate here while visiting the Quad Cities for work. For breakfast on a Saturday, the place was about half full, but only had two servers, so getting menus and coffee took a while and some empty tables hadn't been cleared. Our table was dirty, the coffee cups were dirty. The food was meh. Sweetie had an overcooked Indigo omelet and I had three greasy eggs. The portions are large, but that doesn't really make up for the mediocre food at kinda high prices for the midwest.

    A really lovely woman in the pedicure station next to mine at 5 Star Spa recommended Cafe Indigo. I am very grateful. A girlfriend & I met up for an 8pm Wednesday dinner, no reservation, and had a delightful experience. After lots of fun with the interesting wine list and the soup of the day - a creamy delectable red pepper and artichoke with gigantic croutons - we settled into our entrees. Miz T got the tilapia with tomato-strawberry chutney on our (very knowledgeable & personable) server's advice. I wanted a salad but the crabcakes caught my eye & our server then said they had a crabcakes salad that for some reason was not on the menu. I promptly said yes, but was so deep in conversation I forgot to ask for my usual dressing on the side. Now I am not a calorie-counting ascetic. I love fat. But drenching salad in oil/cream/hydrogenated garbage ruins the texture & flavor of good greens. So when my plate arrived with cakes atop a visible layer of thick dressing coming between them and the lettuce, I cursed my forgetfulness. But then I took a bite. The cakes were lovely - lump crab with a delicious breading holding them firmly but gently together. And the dressing turned out to be an aioli-esque sauce that, shared between cake and lettuce, was just the right amount for me, and I am pretty sparing with the goopy stuff. I savored a cake & half the salad and felt perfectly satisfied - so I saved the rest for lunch (it was solidly tasty the next day). Then dessert was suggested, specifically cheesecake. Now I do not care for cheesecake: I think it's heavy and generally flavorless and even the chocolate versions are easy for me to resist. So I said sure, I'll have a bite. Well this cheesecake was like nothing I've had before. With almost a ricotta-like fluffiness and almost invisible crust, it was delicate and sweet/sour with a lovely chocolate sauce. Color me amazed. I am so thrilled to discover Cafe Indigo. My meal with soup, entree salad & glass of wine was $36 with tip. Delightful. Only bummer: the odd hours. Brought the husband back last night and they were closed at 9pm. I am hoping to get there for brunch this weekend!

    This was our first dinner and definitely not our last at Cafe Indigo. We have been here for breakfast several times over the past few months but not lunch or dinner. We went with another couple and all of us commented on how good the food and service was, actually both were great. I had the parmesan crusted walleye and my husband had the bayou fettuccine, both were excellent. The service was excellent. We have found a new favorite dinner place. Cafe Indigo ranks up there with the top places in the Quad Cities.

    Based on Yelp reviews, we tried breakfast here. My husband loved his "Ultimate Breakfast" which had enough for three people. I had the waffles with strawberries and basil. This tasted great but was not visually appealing, since they used frozen strawberries and sauted the basil so that it was dark and slimy looking. I suggested to the waiter (who also cooks there) that they blend the strawberries and fresh basil together for a sauce that would be better looking and still taste good. The little waffles were good, too. We'll try this place again when we're in town. By the way, I thought service was slow, too. If the waiter had used a tray, he would have reduced his visits to our table by 2/3s.

    I was just there two nights ago for the third time, and first time in about a year. As before, the food was excellent. However I was disappointed that so much of the menu (e.g. all but one pasta dish) was made with a heavy cream-based sauce. I got a chicken-gnocchi with pesto cream sauce dish that was fantastic, but too heavy for me to even eat half of it. A nice chicken-gnocchi-pesto (no cream sauce) would have been welcome. The menu must have changed as I don't recall this emphasis on cream sauces on previous visits. Earlier reviews here mention non-cream dishes that were not on the menu (I would have ordered them!) By the way, their printed menu lists more dinner items than what is on their website. They do have the normal range of salads for light eaters. I just wish they had a better selection of non-cream-sauce main dishes.

    This is the restaurant for anyone with any preference for any genre of food. I can't say enough about the healthy, delicious, gourmet dishes for breakfast, lunch, and especially dinner. They also deliver at lunchtime and cater. Carry out is available and especially convenient for breakfast. This restaurant is owned by a young married couple who certainly know how to prepare food and run a smooth operation, I think this is the best food in town.
